Governor Palin Takes A Stand Against Genocide
The Juneau Empire reports:
In Palin's vice-presidential debate with Democrat Joe Biden, Palin boasted of her support for divestment of Alaskan money from Sudan. Democratic Rep. Les Gara of Anchorage was quick to point out it was opposition from Permanent Fund and state Treasury Division managers that caused it to fail in the last Legislature, despite Palin announcing her support too late in the session for it to pass.
This session, five divestment bills have already been introduced, including from Palin.
[...]
Exemptions in the bills would likely be made for mutual fund-type investments and stock index funds.
"We want one of these bills to move forward, and frankly we don't care which one it is," Gara said.
Lynn agreed, and several legislators said they all may choose to back the Palin bill.

I know Darfur issue is big with Christians but how does it help US security? Do conservatives advocate humanitarian interventions even though security payoff is negligible? Curious about what you guys say.
Can't help but notice that ADN tried to take credit away from Sarah
I can get behind not supporting genocide.
I'm a neo-con who supports Palin (as do many neo-cons)and Darfur is a huge issue for us; I don't agree with all the weekly standard guys on the issue of intervention (e.g. Burma seems far too removed to be considered for intervention) but Darfur strikes as something on which we can find agreement with the liberal hawks.
Sudan is a terrorist sponsoring country that used to house Osama Bin Laden. The justification of military force through the air would be for our country's national security and for interventionist reasons.
