SHOCK: ADN's New "Conservative" Columnist Has Palin Derangement Syndrome
Well, actually it's not a shock. We predicted this as soon as the guy was hired last month.
Anchorage Daily News columnist Paul Jenkins, who the ADN hailed as a "vigorous conservative voice" when they hired him last month, published a column this week on matters of state government. Now, with everything going on, what would a conservative columnist in Alaska write about? State legislators with their hand in the till? Corrupt machine politics in Juneau? Taxpayer-funded junkets?
Nope. Jenkins belatedly jumped on a rather routine announcement that Governor Palin made last month about the state line of succession in the event both she and Lt Governor Parnell are incapacitated. At least that's what the column is supposedly about. In reality, it's just about Jenkins getting the Palin-hate off his chest - rehashing every bogus and disproved faux "scandal" involving Governor Palin that he could think of.
You'd think Jenkins could find some real corruption to write about...he should know all about it, considering he used to take his paychecks from the VECO Corporation, which set the gold standard for corruption in Alaska.
Jenkins even took a shot at the Governor's press secretary, Bill McAllister, calling him "obnoxious". Considering that Mr. Bill is currently battling cancer, this ad hominem by Jenkins really demonstrates his lack of class.

for the ADN, just another Monday..
ADN is cut from the same cloth as the NYT. They sprout their liberal bias and would never have it challenged by a true conservative, so they hire the biggest milk toast RINOs they can find *cough* David Brooks *cough*. Paul Jenkins is no exception.
I honestly think Governor palin should just ignore these clowns at the ADN. When she responds it only helps them by creating traffic to their website and fostering the illusion that they are relevant. They are going under. She shouldn't stand in their way.
Sarah Palin,in 1993, AT AGE 29, wrote the following to ADN's "Letters-To-The-Editors"(She was a Wasilla City Councilwoman at the time)-She began the letter by calling ADN "Dangerously biased'..."How can you justify your restraint in slamming the Clintons,The Kennedys and other philandering, chauvinistic 'Left-Wingers' of the world?"..."Your YELLOW LIBERAL RAG (emphasis mine) is so obvious-I pray we will some day have a choice in newspapers again".Palin had ADN pegged 16 years ago...She (and the rest of Alaskans) may soon get an answer to our prayers.McClatchy's (owns ADN) stock sits at .45 cents/share...dropping -24% today alone..(18 months ago,it was $15.28/share)
-The majority of ADN's 'Sarah-hating' bloggers are non-Alaskans who blog as Alaskans...70% of Alaskans are either Republicans or Independents.

Just imagine if Sarah ever gets to the point where she doesn't hold anything back. Wow!
I wouldn't shed any tears if the Anchorage Daily News went under.
I still recall the tour I went on at the Anchorage Times during the newspaper wars of the 80's.
What do you think? Do you think that Los Anchorage has gone past the point of no return and is too cosmopolitan now days to have a pro-business / pro-development newspaper like the old Anchorage Times?
I do have to say though that the Daily News had a better comics section than the Times... but that was about it.
An update on McClatchy:They lost 31% today to finish at .41 cents/share,as the company announced that 1600 jobs would be cut.
-Since The Anchorage Times got 'absorbed' by ADN many years ago,the Fairbanks Daily News Miner is Alaska's best newspaper by far.Alaska's 2nd largest city,Fairbanks is also the most conservative.I LOVE Fairbanks...Even when its -60 below.(Summers though are beautiful)
Wow, that was her at 29, showing much more insight and enthusiasm than most. Jenkins we know as a
tool for VECO. most likely an ally of Ruedrich, and Renkes as well. They vouched for Obama, over the candidate they actually knew. An interesting detail, in the index to the Benet book, there is an entry to Lisa Demer, about Trig's autism, this was in April, coming from the same reporter, who would investigate the story in December.
I wouldn't worry much about this newby as McClatchy Watch has ADN cutting jobs soon along with all the other MNI papers. If it follows the usual practice in Oz, that is last on first off, then he will not be around for long. Neither will MNI the way they are tanking.
