Andrew Breitbart Digs Palin
In an interview with Neil Cavuto, the Dr. Cool of the conservative movement, Andrew Breitbart, spoke out openly in support of Gov. Palin. Money quote:
Breitbart: "The interesting thing about [Palin] is that she represents the common American, just like those people at the tea parties... I think that the average American out there is looking at Sarah Palin as an X-factor, somebody who's treated poorly by the press, sombeody who's treated poorly by the supposedly smart people in Washington that got us into this mess in the first place... I think it's more than just Democrats. I think Republicans are worried about Sarah Palin because she's not beholden to the Republican establishment."
Cavuto: "What should she do?"
Breitbart: "I think she just continues being Sarah Palin and I think that she needs to go out there and show that she has a fight in her because this is like Rocky Two: Can this person come back from a drubbing?"
For those of you who don't yet know Breitbart: he writes a weekly column for the Washington Times, and regularly deputizes for Dennis Miller on his nationally syndicated radio show. More important than his journalistic credentials, though, is the fact that Breitbart is a big player on the Internet scene. As in: massive. Together with Matt Drudge, he helped turn the Drudge Report into an Internet sensation. He went on to set up his own news site called Breitbart.com, and was the primary developer for the Huffington Post. His involvement with that project was strictly business, though. His real mission is helping conservatives win the battle for the hearts and minds of the Internet generation. To that end, he's doing two things that should be of particular interest to Palin fans. One is continually preaching about the importance of developing a highly integrated and effective conservative web community:
"A digital war has broken out, and the conservative movement is losing. Read the comment sections of right-leaning blogs, news sites and social forums, and the evidence is there in ugly abundance. Internet hooligans are spewing their talking points to thwart the dissent of the newly-out-of-power. We must not let that go unanswered... It is time to fight back, but it won't be easy. The enemy is willing to do and say anything in order to win."
Notice the same word cropping at the end of both quotes: fight. Breitbart may look like a cuddly toy, but he's itching to take the fight to the liberals who currently dominate the political side of the Web. His second big project is related to the first. Ultimately, what Breitbart wants to achieve is to wrest control over popular culture back from the liberal elites. To that end, he's created a Web hangout for conservative Hollywood types called Big Hollywood (if you haven't been there already, go and check it out). In the last few decades, conservatives have tended to write off this entire aspect of modern culture as 'beyond salvation', deciding instead to use it as a tool with which to bludgeon their Democratic opponents in the conservative heartlands. Breitbart thinks that strategy is partly responsible for the losses of the last few election cycles (not entirely, mind you, but still significantly). His alternative is the same as on the Web: stand and fight.
If Palin's serious about reforming her country, she should consider dropping Breitbart a line. With all the fighting talk that both tend to produce, it sounds like they have a lot to talk about.
Update by JR: Here is the video of Andrew Breitbart discussing Governor Palin with Neil Cavuto:

Yeah, she definitely needs a great web guy to counter Obama's massive online presence. We can't beat him there but we have to fill the gap.
Andrew is AWESOME. I have seen him on many shows and he is just amazing. He really stands up for Sarah and for Conservatism. I saw him on Neil Cavuto he was on FIRE. He ROCKS!!
Great post JL. Breitbart is quite correct. Conservatives need to organize better and fight. This website (C4P) is at the forefront but we need help.
Enjoy his calm straight-forwardness. Hope to see more of Breitbart.
C4P will be at the forefront of the Palin effort over the next few years, as long as RAM, JR, VO, et.al. are up for the fight.
Aside from any official internet strategies Palin campaign might pursue,we need to get advice from guys like Breitbart and Ruffini and others out there on how to combat astroturfing, trolling and spreading the truth about Obama administration.
After the election we don't in the least have to worry about Sarah being just Sarah.
Sarah is Sarah's most effective handler and confidant, must include Todd, gotta feeling he is very much called upon.
With that said a highly integrated and effective conservative web community is a must.
We are making progress with this site and many others but more power to any and all who will contribute to the cause.
I am aware as anybody the advantage that Obama has over the GOP and Sarah Palin now in terms of web presence, the use of technology, the ability to call upon millions of volunteers and the ability to raise money.
So please bear that in mind when I say that in terms of the next Presidential election in football parlance we are still only 5 and 1/2 minutes into the first quarter; Obama's team has the clear advantage over our side, but remember in football games fumbles are generated, interceptions are thrown, key players get injured (scandal or controversy). rookies perform better than expected while veterans underperform, the weather changes (terrorist attacks),our side revises its offensive and defensive game plans to be more attuned to what Obama is doing, the opposition doesn't execute as well as it has done in the past, the referees aren't as biased in their calls (the MSM beginning to scrutinize Obama closer)and finally it becomes a war of attrition where each side beats the other side up.
Under this scenario, Sarah and the GOP may not win, but I will submit they will still have half a chance and at this point in time I would take that in a heartbeat.
Breitbart came to UCLA to speak a few days ago, so I got to meet him. He was great, and he stresses the idea that more conservatives need to be in Hollywood. He's putting together a group of bigtime repubs in LA, to help out young conservatives in finding jobs and internships in LA.
I'm glad he's such a Palin fan, cause I love her too!
Andrew is one cool guy. I love seeing him on "Red Eye." Not only is he straightforward and smart, he is hilarious.
Pamela Gellar of Atlas Shrugs, appeared with Andrew. Go check out a clip.

They repeat episodes of Red Eye on the weekend and possibly this episode will appear again tonight or tomorrow night, midnight.
Hey you guys! You're number 2 on Big Hollywood's "Now Playing"
GOV. PALIN SHOULD CONSIDER DROPPING BREITBART A LINE.
Awesome guys!
The Rocky comparison is brilliant. Rocky I, he lost the fight but won the peoples' hearts. In Rocky II, he got another shot at his nemisis, trained hard, and beat him.
I don't know about all of you, but I'm getting a bit weary of defending Sarah all the time at all the various web sites I visit each day. It would help if I could go to a "De-Bunk the Lies and Half-truths About Sarah Palin" thread, find the appropriate subject, copy it, and then return to the offending post with the facts and supporting links.
C4P, maybe you have already posted something like this already. But it needs to stay at the top of your web site. It should be written in a way that makes it easy for us to cut-n-paste.
We need to get organized.
Betty,
I think Tommy made something like that. Tommy can you post the link to the material you wanted people to post on Hot Air?
I'm convinced that big name players like Dick Morris and Andrew Breitbart can see SP's potential as a future presidential candidate, and they want in. Morris would have bailed already if he thought any of the "Sarah is Stoopid" crap would stick 3.5 years from now...he's just too cutthroat to waste time on a loser.
Breitbart wants to make conservatism "hip" again, and once the SP beats down the chillbilly airhead rap (thoughtful speeches like Evansville RTL are DEVASTATING that meme) she will be the imagesetter for the new "hip" movement. Rememember folks, there are 4 years worth of unregistered young voters between now and 2012...those votes can be ours.
RockY indeed
The young people are where I'd go. Aparently, the percentages of young people who support has dropped dramatically over the years. And much to lib chagrin, the movie "Juno" didn't help their cause.
Also, many reporters noted that there were scads of young people at the tea parties.
C4P does it again! This is an outstanding article, insightful, covering multiple relevant points.
1) Sarah Palin is a fighter....and should continue to FIGHT.
2) Big Hollywood is a great example of an online asset to conservatives.
3) Breitbart sounds like an ally....and he's a great ally to have.
4) WE ALL need to fight back online and your points on that are excellent.
Thanks again for a great job.
Again, when Sarah starts to go to the lower 48 more and make speeches the tide will roll in her favor.
I still think her hibernation in Alaska for a few months was hard on her but a great thing for her too.
People are dying to hear her and see her. Ever get excited seeing Newt on Fox again? Nope.
But Sarah has been not heard from much, now people see how terible Obama is and how he ran as a center Dem but is really a socialist.
Enter Sarah in the lower 48, giving people hope, giving ind. voters buyers remorse, being a true conservative for true Rep. She is one of us and we are dying to have a leader during this time.
If she chooses to run, I think it will be a good fight. I think she can win in 2012, I really do.
Have you ever seen anyone get such press for giving a speech? this momentum will continue, she is such a great speaker. So at ease. She is a natural. Notice she had no teleprompter at this speech, or it seemed as if she was speaking off of notes on the podium. She still does such an excellent job. No ums, ohs ect.
Obama can't say his name without a teleprompter.
I agree Lipstick. I think Palin has great potential to win in 2012. Americans are sick of Obama and his chummy meetings with rogue and despicable dictators, spending money, growing government, etc.
He is worse than Jimmy Carter. Sarah can win in Reagan's scale as he did in 1980.
I agree Jenny. If the economy doesn't improve with all of Obama's spending he becomes very beatable. Sarah is the one that could take Obama down.
Breitbart is also right about that the Republican establishment is afraid of Sarah also. I enjoyed watching that.
The other element at play is whether the U.S. gets hit again -- and with the way Bam is laying us open and vulnerable, I think that would be the straw that would break the camel's back if the next vote comes down to welfare checks vs. strong defense. And we all know Obama isn't for protecting anyone but himself.
Remember that interview that Meg Stapleton did with Greta when Palin was first picked for VP? She related how when she took the job as her press secretary, she knew it would be tough because her approval ratings were in the eighties and she really had nowhere to go but down. It works the other way, too. Her ratings among folks in the Lower 48 can only go up now. Also consider that the most highly quoted poll, the one which pitted her against Obama, had at least 50% of folks at least willing to give her the benefit of the doubt if not being diehard supporters, and this AFTER she had already been extensively crucified by the media. Considering all they've already flung at her and considering they still have not brought her down, I think she has nowhere to go now in the polls but up.
Imagine if Palin could do to the GOP establishment as she did with the GOP establishment in Alaska. I can see her getting support even from Libertarians, but particularly if she came after the establishment GOP. I am a strong believer in the two-party system, personally, however I am sick of establishment Republicans who are not conservative. The party needs reform now and if she could lead this reform movement that would be great.
Hi, folks. First visit. Hope I'm not being too forward by commenting so soon.
Governor Palin has indicated, perhaps subtly, that she was less than pleased by her "handlers" in the recent campaign. I believe that she has made the decision that no matter what the future brings she is calling the shots.
In my lifetime there have been only a few politicians who were conspicuously their own selves. Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, Lyndon Johnson, Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan come to mind.
I believe that Governor Palin is one extremely effective natural politician. She is so good that she would disown that formulation.
Her best strategy for 2012, if that is indeed her ambition, is precisely what she seems to be pursuing. Tend to business in Alaska, show a little ankle every so often in the lower 48 and keep 'em wondering.
I could be wrong, but I too think the lovey, dovey, thing Obama has for rogue leaders is not going over big in the heartland, with hispanic voters ( who are very patriotic and many serve in the military), or with ind. voters who thought they were voting for change they could believe in, not change into a socialistic nation.
I think that we are being set up for an attack either here or abroad. Obama is releasing CIA interrogation method notes, shrinking the military, all the while I can't help but believe he is so arrogant and naive that he thinks every crazy leader likes him so much that there is no way they would attack the US as long as he is President.
He will learn that when you kiss crazy men's butts all you get is attacked and a bad taste in your mouth.
Roy: I agree, Palin is a natural politican. She knows that she was handled bad in the campaign but she was a good soldier and obeyed.
Now, if she runs, I know that she will be calling all the shots, she will not run if she is not in full control. Yet she is smart enough to take good advice from her advisors. I pray that she will carefully chose who to surround herself with. People who know her and will let her be Sarah. People love Sarah. People will follow Sarah. People will give money to Sarah's campaign, people will be motivated to get out and vote for Sarah.
I like the strategy of working in Alaska, showing a bit of ankle in the lower 48 every now and then and keep them wondering. Keeping her cards to her chest now is a good thing till we are closer to 2010
Forget, please, "conservatism." It has been, operationally, de facto, Godless and therefore irrelevant. Secular conservatism will not defeat secular liberalism because to God both are two atheistic peas-in-a-pod and thus predestined to failure. As Stonewall Jackson's Chief of Staff R.L. Dabney said of such a humanistic belief more than 100 years ago:
"[Secular conservatism] is a party which never conserves anything. Its history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation. What was the resisted novelty of yesterday is today .one of the accepted principles of conservatism; it is now conservative only in affecting to resist the next innovation, which will tomorrow be forced upon its timidity and will be succeeded by some third revolution; to be denounced and then adopted in its turn. American conservatism is merely the shadow that follows Radicalism as it moves forward towards perdition. It remains behind it, but never retards it, and always advances near its leader. This pretended salt bath utterly lost its savor: wherewith shall it be salted? Its impotency is not hard, indeed, to explain. It is worthless because it is the conservatism of expediency only, and not of sturdy principle. It intends to risk nothing serious for the sake of the truth."
Our country is collapsing because we have turned our back on God (Psalm 9:17) and refused to kiss His Son (Psalm 2).
