Andrew Sullivan Just Can't Give Up That Sweet, Sweet Trig Trutherism
In a column at The New Republic criticizing the salacious press coverage of Bristol Palin, Jason Zengerle opines:
Maybe Andrew hopes Levi will confirm his longstanding suspicions that Sarah Palin isn't really Trig's mother. Who knows? But it seems as if he's rooting--almost salivating--for this thing to get uglier.
To which Sullivan replies:
To explain my own interest: yes, I suspect that, in the absence of a press corps capable of asking awkward questions and getting substantive answers, a little family tension might help unravel some of the remaining mysteries of 2008.

Ho Ho Ho...so Sicko Sully's working on unraveling the "remaining mysteries of 2008..." What? Did he give up on all the the remaining "mysteries" from Sarah's life? On his site I found this February 2008 howler: "...many readers have written to say that Palin was highly unlikely to have known of ESPN in high school. It was only founded in 1979 and became widely known only in 1982..." Hmmm, why would the co-captain of the 1982 state girl's basketball champs know or care about sports and sports broadcasting in the years 1979 to 1982? Yep, sounds fishy....

Sully is truly WAY out in the Tinfoil hat zone on Trig. Palin's nomination has really marginalized many bloggers who pre 2008 were viewed as great blogs to watch. I am sure Sullivan & Allahpundit poll #'s have really taken a hit.
Oh, and Upinak, your comment above is not very nice dear. He may be a sick dirtbag for his treatment of Palin, but nobody deserves that kind of death.

Sarah Palin has NOT produced any ACTUAL HOSPITAL prenatal medical records or birth records regarding her pregnancy with Trig Palin. She also has NOT produced a birth certificate for Trig Palin.
It is remarkable that Sarah Palin would continue to let the world focus attention on her children when she could make the Trig story go away so easily in mere seconds.
Any proud family values mother would be elated and thrilled to defend her children in anyway possible by giving anyone and everyone the proverbially middle finger with definitive proof. After all, there is nothing more wonderful than the blessing of creating the miracle of life. Why hide anything so precious? Just make all the naysayers go away. Why not if it's so easy?

I would have hoped that the fact that Sarah and her daughter were both pregnant at the same time would have put these vile rumors to rest.

Publius, are you as concerned with BO's birth certificate as you are with Sarah's uterus? Last time I checked the Constitution requires citizen birth for eligibility as POTUS. Even if your psychosis had a sandgrain of merit show me where it mentions anything about a candidate's children.

The real purpose of the "Trig trutherism" story is to "knock down a pedestal". In giving birth to a Down Syndrome child, under the aegis of a receiving a gift, and not under the rubric of "choice", Sarah Palin delivered an unbearable moral rebuke to a generation of vipers. What to do? Why easy! Turn this story of sacrifial love into a dark tale of cunning and deception! Depict a large gap between "espoused value" and "actual practice". To her more hateful detractors, particularly the feminist establishment (with noble exceptions), the very existence of Sarah Palin is a crushing rebuke to their whole manner of being. If, on the other hand she has aborted her child and counselled Bristol to do the same, things would have been different. From the echo chambers of every favoured opinion would have come a "strange new respect".
For an intellectual analysis of the deseased consciousness that is operative here, I recommend Max Scheler's book "Ressentiment", (Schocken Books).
