The Dutch Have Redeemed Themselves

We had a bit of a dust up this morning with a Dutch would-be satirist by the name of Michael van der Galien. He wrote an unwittingly astute blog post at PoliGazette about Palin's grassroots appeal on the blogosphere. Turns out it was a joke. He's a Mitt lover. However, I'm afraid the joke will be on him when SarahPAC's fundraising numbers are reported in July.
I've noticed that the Mittites seem snarkily envious of the Palin Revolution. I don't know of any spontaneous grassroots "Team Mitt." (Though there is Moderates4Mitt!)
Having been born and raised in Michigan, I naturally have a fondness for anyone with the last name Romney. George Romney was one of the finest governors Michigan ever had. And he was a damn fine automaker too. I'll refrain from Mitt-bashing here. In my more unguarded moments in the comment sections, I've clarified my position on Mitt. But on the main page, I'll try to adhere to the Eleventh Commandment.
This whole episode caused a bit of Dutch-bashing in the comment section. And who can blame us? But the Dutch have redeemed themselves in the eyes of the Palin Nation with this great post by our friend Joshua Livestro.
Joshua is indeed a friend of C4P:
I like C4P, btw. When I worked at Conservative Central Office in the 1990s, I was trained in the noble art of rapid rebuttal - killing potentially bad stories before they actually get a chance to do any serious damage (and preferably turning defense into attack by going after the journalist who wrote it and/or the political opponent who was the source of the story). These guys are as good as anything I saw in my time in Westminster. They’re quick, they’re thorough, and they’re utterly ruthless (in a joyful sort of way).
Quick, thorough, and utterly ruthless... damn... Yes, I admit that makes me smile. Remember the old cheesy-cool Cold War film "Red Dawn"? Remember the film's war cry, "Wolverines!"? I think the Palin Revolution's war cry is "Barracuda!" And Joshua's "quick, thorough, and utterly ruthless" makes me want to shout "Barracuda!"
I think we have a Dutch Ordinary Barbarian in Joshua Livestro. Go read his brilliant smack down of Michael. I'm not even excerpting it here because I want you all to go to PoliGazette to read it and tell them C4P sent you.
And be sure to let rip a few "Barracudas!" It'll "shake things up," as the good Guv likes to say. And it'll scare the snot out of the Mittites.
UPDATE by VO: You'd have me down, down, down, down on my knees, now wouldn't you? Barracuda!
The song (and yes, Ann and Nancy, we're using your song to promote Sarah Palin). If you don't like it, too bad!

Mark Levin didn't hold back on Romney today. I was surprised by how hard he went at him.
Barracuda...ooooooooh!
Dude, great song, great band. Wow, Ann was really thin.
Also, word to Heart from Laura Ingraham: Shut up and sing! :-)
Mark Levin was great as always. But today he laid it on Romney. The jerk was lecturing us about applauding Obama when he does 'well.'
Romney was the same idiot that thought Obama's firing of the GM CEO was a good thing. What a phony Romney is! I was never a fan of this guy. I just remember his persistence of how much more liberal he was than Ted Kennedy. The elitists might like this guy, but he's a loser to me.
What should Sarah Palin's theme song be?
1)Barracuda
2)I am Woman
3)On the Road Again
4)The Wind Beneath My Wings
5)The Impossible Dream
my answer #5 Here are the lyrics:
To dream the impossible dream,
To fight the unbeatable foe,
To bear with unbearable sorrow,
To right the unrightable wrong,
To love pure and chaste from afar,
To try when your arms are too weary,
To reach the unreachable star,
This is my quest to follow that star
No matter how hopeless-no matter how far
To fight for the right without question or pause,
To be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause,
And I know that I only be true to this glorious quest,
And my heart will lie peaceful and calm when I am laid to my rest,
And the world will be better for this,
That one man (woman)scorned and covered with scars
Still strode with his (her)last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star.
I left a couple of comments over at Poligazette in support of Sarah and Joshua. It's unreal how the Mittbots feel so threatened that they trash Sarah all over the blogosphere. They turn me off as much as the Obots!
I thought Mitt was the best GOP candidate in 2008 but I don't agree with his recent statements on Obama's actions. Obama was wrong to hijack GM and fire its CEO. Also at CPAC, Mitt attacked those who say they want Obama to fail (i.e., Rush, Levin, etc.) in his speech. He made a snarky remark about Sarah's book deal too.
The irony is that Sarah has praised Mitt in the past. I wonder if she would now especially if he is behind the Mittbots' attacks.
It was funny when Mark said you can't beat Obama by attending republican senatorial lunches and meetings, and by telling us to nod at Obama when he's right.
Techno, #1 Barracuda! Naturally.
I'm so amazed about all the new blogs I'm learning about just from hanging out reading C4P in between cooking, helping with homework, folding laundry etc. I'm loving it!
techno -
#1) Barracuda for now but there are other cool rock songs since the Heart sisters would just gripe to the MSM and try to make Sarah look bad.
I'm a Van Halen fan like Sarah so a VH song would totally rock like "Jump" or "Unchained."
One thing: since Joshua talks about working for the Conservatives at Westminster, it sounds to me like he's British. I want to let the Dutch off the hook on this one, but I think we'll have to do that some other way.
No, I'm pretty sure this is Joshua:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joshua_Livestro
techno, obviously "Barracuda." I'm sure the Wilson sisters can be bought---they didn't want to give the song away. I will say it was pretty cool hearing "North to Alaska" at her rallies; I went away humming that song for days afterward.
techno,
how about "She's Not Just a Pretty Face" by Shania Twain, really covers all the facets of her career. They played it during the later rallies.
Just listened to Barracuda. it is one of the most awful songs that i have ever heard.
If conservatives really think this is a great song to rally the troops(the base) and to promote Sarah with I guess I don't know music.
Absolutely dreadful!
techno, in a way I must agree with you about "Barracuda"....although the "Barra..barra...barracuuudaaa" makes it all worthwhile.
One song NOT to use:
"We're Not Gonna Take It", by Twisted Sister.
"Girlie-Man" in California used that song in his run for Governator, and look where it took him. Steer clear from that song!!
Keeping with the music theme, I recall the Guv saying sometime during the campaign when it came to the music artists willing to work a GOP rally the choices were "slim picken's" or something to that effect. Does anyone know if there are any decent big names out there for our side besides country? And no offense to the country music lovers here, but I ain't one of them. Country music just irritates the heck out of me. So are there any GOP rocker's, rappers, or hip-hoppers to pump up a crowd?

There are a few that have admitted it publicly but most keep it quiet because its not "cool" in Hollywood to be a conservative.
The ones I can recall off the top of my head are Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus (might be - not sure), Sammy Hagar, Fifty Cent (voted for Bush in 2004), David Lee Roth (not sure - he's a hedonist and I think he's libertarian from things he said). Wyclef Jean told Greta that he likes and admires Sarah in a recent interview.
I love checking in on Andrew Breitbart's Big Hollywood which is a site for Hollywood conservatives where you can comment anonymously or using a pseudonym. His site is getting more popular these days. I wonder who these some of these commenters are (if they are famous celebrities).
C4P - that might make for some interesting posts to feature celebrities who are conservatives or libertarians and celebs that are Palin fans like Angie Harmon. You might come up with real surprises there. I'm tired of only hearing from liberal or Obama loving celebrities.
Sarah Palin Rocks,
Thanks for the reply. You gave me hope. :-) Now can you tell me Outkast are Sarah fans? That would be fun.
My lyrics to "Goin Country". Renamed "Goin Sarah".
Nuts, I don't have the lyrics on this work laptop.
The song Barracuda is not a good song and I don't recommend it.
Sarah will be POTUS by being strong, but in a womanly way.
When she campaigns, she won't go negative. She WILL stick to her opponents record though.
She will be POTUS by keeping her "Servant's Heart". It is her inherent wholesomeness that makes lonely, 44-year old bachelors like me willing to get thrown under the bus numerous times and empty our bank accounts for her without even blinking. She is the Crusade/Movement.
The Shania song is a good one for rallies, although it is not appropriate for TV due to it possibly focusing on her looks too much, which the MSM would use to attack her as being not weighty on issues.
Joshua is Dutch as well. He just lives in Britain with his British wife. But he's Dutch - even politically active for one of our largest parties.
As for 'trashing of Palin.' You can accuse me of being critical of her and believing she'll need a few years to study especially foreign policy more, but you can't charge I'm "trashing her." If she wins the nomination in 2012, I'll pull for her.
And yes, I'm Romney, but if 2012 arrives and I see that another person is better, well, thenI'll throw my weight behind that candidate - I'm not too much into names, I'm into qualifications.
Woah now, what's this: RAM herself linking to my post - and liking it as well! Not a bad thing to wake up to(quietly humming to himself while sipping his coffee: "And the world's alright with me...")
As for Michael: yes, his comic timing leaves something to be desired. And his preference for the dull man in the grey suit is inexplicable as far as I'm concerned (he says he thinks Romney would make a great president because he's such a 'bright guy'. I have two words for him: Barack Obama. And to quote Bill Clinton: at least Obama makes people laugh. Romney makes people fall asleep). But Michael's not all bad. In fact, Michael is a good friend of mine, and he's been a great help in getting my own site off the ground back in Holland. I'm ok with people giving him a gentle kicking if that helps to keep him on the straight and narrow - provided that, come election time, you're still able to work as a team for whoever wins the nomination (Palin, that is). You don't want a repeat of last year's drama when a lethargic and internally divided conservative/libertarian blogosphere was no match for a focused and power-hungry liberal MSM.
And yes indeed, I am Dutch - and proud of it! (not of the Wikipedia page, btw, which seems to have been produced by someone with a very troubled relationship with the English language. But hey, one fan is better than no fans at all, right? Even if their English is worse than Borat's...).
Keep up the good work!
Joshua
Ahh, OK--so you have both the Dutch and the British connection. That's cool.
@ Rob: oh yes, though really I consider myself Dutch through and through.
Re music - "Jump" is great, always gives me a tingle...."Wont back down" by Tom Petty (but I would guess he is left/lib0 plus anything from Alison Krauss would also emphasise Sarah's softer side "When you say nothing at all"
Michael, I agree with your sentiments re: not bashing the eventual nominee. I'll pull for Mitt if he ends up our guy in 2012.
Joshua, we'll keep working on Michael. We'll at least be able to get him to shout "Barracuda!" if she's our nominee eventually.
Barracuda!
I can already do that. My heart just isn't in it yet ;). But I'm still young, perhaps I'll become wiser over the years :D
Exactly. Pull for the conservative nominee, whether it's Mitt, Palin or someone else altogether.
I'm not an enemy of the governor, but not a fan like you all are either.
Mitt also has his weaknesses, obviously - he didn't deserve to win this time; if you spend the amount of money he spent, you've got to win - but I think he's great material. Incredibly knowledgeable, intelligent, a great business leader, etc. etc.
BTW: I"m more of a fiscal conservative than a social conservative. The latter issues just don't interest me much. This is also one of the reasons I'm almost automatically drawn to people who emphasize fiscal responsibility and who have experience in business.
But we'll see. Palin still has time. I'm allowing her to convince of her qualities and knowledge.
This ended up, I think, quite a healthy, normal debate. I'm happy with that. Hope you are too - we in the consblogosphere can only have an impact if we resolve our differences in a civil manner. We can't let the Kos Kids win by eating each other.
@ RAM: don't worry, is, or rather: WHEN she wins, I'll make him sing the entire song.
