The 'Cuda Stops by for Tea; UPDATE: Palin Did Actually Get Out of the Car, Phil...

Scroll down for updates
----------------------------------------------------

Check out this 'Cuda tweet:

Met w American Freedom Day Rally coordinators at Iditapark in Wasilla. Strong Patriots who love America. They throw good tea parties, too.

This seems to be what she was talking about:

The Tax Foundation says that because of unprecedented budget deficit over $1.5 trillion, it will take each individual until May 29 to pay their taxes this year so today we are working for Ourselves. On May 30th, you begin working for yourself instead of your government. This is wrong! Join others in your hometown and across the country by participating in the American Freedom Day rally.

Apparently some organizers in Wasilla did just that.

What an intriguing thing it would be if Palin made a habit of stopping by these rallies. They are like informal campaign rallies, totally grassroots in nature, and people are so hungry for an alternative message.

Last month, Andrew Breitbart of Big Hollywood told Neil Cavuto that Sarah Palin was basically the candidate of the Tea Parties, the unofficial representative of the ordinary Americans:

Breitbart: "The interesting thing about [Palin] is that she represents the common American, just like those people at the tea parties... I think that the average American out there is looking at Sarah Palin as an X-factor, somebody who's treated poorly by the press, somebody who's treated poorly by the supposedly smart people in Washington that got us into this mess in the first place... I think it's more than just Democrats. I think Republicans are worried about Sarah Palin because she's not beholden to the Republican establishment."

She is, to use her own words, "the epitome of ordinary people."

She knows ordinary people. So do I. They are like the people from my hometown in southeast Michigan. They never thought they would live to see the day when the federal government took control of the American auto industry.

Ordinary people don't know what is happening to their country.

Many of them voted for Obama, but they are now unsure if he is the man he said he was -- the man they thought he was. They want him to be, but they are unsure. They will continue to give him the benefit of the doubt, but their doubts will keep mounting, just like our national debt.

Sarah Palin is who she said she was. It would be good for the ordinary people of Alaska (and America) to hear from her regularly. More appearances like this one on the Michael Dukes show would go a long way.

UPDATE by RAM: In other news, Mudzilla had a “Gorillas in the Mist” moment. She discovered that conservatives go to the movies. She took detailed notes of her observations, no doubt hoping to get published in National Geographic. (Question: Does she take her little toy moose with her everywhere or was the Ziegler event a special night out?)

UPDATE II by RAM: It seems Mudzilla wasn’t the only AK lefty eager for a “Gorillas in the Mist” moment. Phil Munger wrote this on Saturday:

Dennis Zaki and I were at Wasilla Wonderland Park this afternoon.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and family came, but, apparently, the governor didn't even get out of her silver-grey SUV. Todd and Piper did, as a Palin staffer came up to the car and talked to somebody in the rear seat. Then they left.

At the time, Dennis was covering one side of the park, and I was on the other. I'd been tipped off that the governor would be there briefly. We couldn't find anyone attending who had actually seen her. Eddie Burke, who was there when Palin visited, didn't see her. Weird, huh?

It's clear from the governor's tweet that she stopped by to speak to the coordinators of the American Freedom Day Rally. And guess what? Here she is doing just that:

From left to right: Jill Frost, Trail Wills, Cheryl Brooks (the main coordinator for the Mat-Su Valley Tea Parties), Gov. Palin, and Barbara Bachman.

I know what you’re all thinking...

“But – but I thought Munger said that she didn't even get out of her silver-grey SUV?”

Our faith has been shaken, Phil.

UPDATE III by RAM: (h/t karenfromny) Phil really didn't try very hard to find people who had seen the govenor at the Tea Party. Here's some more photos of her there.

Let's take a look, shall we...

Yeah, definitely got out of the SUV...

Our faith in you is now toast, Phil.

Mudzilla's toy moose has more credibility.

yes, sarah needs to hit the local radio shows all the time.

PEC May 30, 2009 7:38 PM

This is actually the x factor for GOV Sarah in the primaries. The General elections are mainly about rallying the base, the primaries is totally about rallying the base. People that go to tea parties go to vote in primaries if they love candidates. Also Obama won almost all the Caucus States because he had his base rallyed. This adds up.
Now an interesting concept that I saw by Rusty yesterday would be if GOV Palin had Ted Stevens run as her LT Gov. This would assure her a reelection landslide and would stop and kill any of the running in '12 questions. Plus Uncle Ted could back slap all the elite Alaska Repubs and get them in line. Ramras, Hawker and crew would shut up overnight.

sandra May 30, 2009 7:45 PM

Does Sarah agree with the 20 point program that has been proposed? There are some pretty radical concepts proposed, e.g., term limits for legislators of 2 years, no amendments to the constitution, abolition of the electoral collage. This does no sound like a reasonable alternative to the GOP.

Al B. May 30, 2009 7:51 PM

I agree totally R.A., it's time for Americans to start hearing from the Governor once in a while. The MSM is not going to help her. She can write op eds in Alaska newspapers and issue press releases. It's not enough.

I was tremendously impressed with that Michael Dukes talk show appearance. That's what she needs to do nationally.

sarah palin rocks May 30, 2009 7:54 PM

Sarah stands for lower taxes, fiscally responsible gov't spending and for the federal gov't to get out of the way and listen to the people for a change.

Sarah is the Tea Party Candidate!

Greg May 30, 2009 7:58 PM

This is a good move, real grassroots, and the word will spread. You can expect to see blogs, and see stories in the MSM about this within 5,4, 3, 2, 1.

I'd like to see her and Todd show up at Sturgis SD in late August. They'd be huge hits, and would generate a tremendous amount of reporting, discussion and analysis.

I think GOV Palin should throw jabs as the current admistration but needs to focus on Alaska. On her trip to the lower 48, maybe an interview with Beck, Laura Inghram or somebody like that but avoid MSM and big name people. SHe can start that in 2011. If the media wants to talk to her about the special needs event she is going to then they can have at it. Or if they want to go to AUburn and talk Alaska they can have at it. These are easy hits that can be face time but she needs to stay away from the silly stuff happening in Washington. Maybe take a jab at the Repubs in Washington with there silly Moderate vs Conservative fights.
IBD is bidding for an interview. If the Weekly Standard or that conservative crew wants an interview make them be clear she will only talk Alaska Governor issues. With Energy and National Defense she can get her jabs in at the administration.

Sorry for the O/T post but the open thread has kind of petered out and this is a must see:

It's a blog that parodies Celtic Diva, and it looks promising in terms of Teh Lulz.

R. A. Mansour May 30, 2009 8:10 PM

sandra, the Tea Parties are not a monolithic movement. They are rallies organized by ordinary people who all have various ideas, some of them wacky. The thing that unites them all is a feeling that our government is out of control, and that suddenly we are working for them and not them for us.

You seem to enjoy playing buzzkill around here.

I have learned recently that you are a Trig Truther, and as such I find you the lowest of the low and completely unqualified to engage in a rational debate. I would sooner discuss culture and politics with a fool who thinks that the moon landing was staged or that Elvis was abducted by aliens.

You've been very careful up till now not to make any overt or even covert Trig Truther comments on this website. But I'm watching you. One tiny slip up, and you're gone.

PEC May 30, 2009 8:22 PM

RAM - You are right on
A couple of points AKreport.
South Carolina is a primary not caucus. Nevada is a caucas. This is big because Palin has the loyal supporters to hang around for caucases. Forget the #s Sarah wins NEvada on loyalty much like Obama won his caucases.
NH is the only one in question but I wouldn't rule Sarah out in NH. Once again loyalty wins or at least increases percentage in primaries. Think of this how many would volunteer to hit the streets for Palin on here? Is the same true for Romney? NH to me is the key. If GOV Palin wins GOV Palin will be going back to the legislative session in Alaska because the nomination would be over by super Tuesday.

Yogi41 May 30, 2009 8:22 PM

AK,

Are those your predictions or are those figures coming from a poll?

PEC May 30, 2009 8:35 PM

Sandra - Is that your 20 point program because it is not completly logical. Two of the ideas require a Constitutional Amendment so how can abolition of amendments happen if somebody wants the other 2?
I agree with the term limits (remember you run to serve your citizens not to be a career politician) I would put the limit to 4 terms House 2 in the Senate. Pass that go do like everybody else and work for a living. I don't want to get rid of the electoral college but there are prevailing arguments both ways. Don't know what amendments that are seriously out there but we can see. One is I believe the preamble should be considered as part of law and can be used in Constitutional decision. Be careful if you are a Pro-Choice fan if you say yes to this.

I think Sarah should do a weekly radio show 1/2 hour in length. On Saturday on the talk radio network, take no live calls, just e-mail. That way she can pick the ones she wants to read and answer. I think Reagan did a similar thing before running for president.

hey techno,
AK Report is just wishin' out loud. Like me sitting here in SE Michigan, watching the Red Wings and Penguins desperately clawing each other for the Stanley Cup but muttering "Wings in five" to my kids because I WANT it to happen.

(hey RAM - Wings up 2 - 1 afer two periods in Game One at The Joe. Wings have home ice advantage, so the first two are home, two more in Pitt, and then they switch off...so they drink from The Cup at home, Wings in five...) :-)

DanO-
Watching the Red Wings, it's oh so painful for this Avs fan. But hockey is the best sport! My husband thinks I blaspheme when I say I think I like hockey better than football. What do you think?

R. A. Mansour May 30, 2009 10:46 PM

DanO, I was born and raised in Royal Oak. Where are you from in SE Michigan?

The Wings are going to win this one, and when they win the Cup, we all need to rub it in JR and J. Smith's face big time. Please be sure to brag about it in front of JR, okay? Thnx!

R. A. Mansour May 30, 2009 10:48 PM

Dear Lord, Nancy you're an Avs fan?

And here we were getting along so nicely...

(Why, why, O Lord, some of the nicest people turn out to be fans of that evil team!)

Piney May 30, 2009 11:12 PM

Just returned from the patriots tea party in Wasilla.

Eddie Burke was there, being his wonderful self. I checked to see if he had his C4P shirt on, he said he had it with him, waffled, then decided to use his radio station shirt instead.

He gave away the "very last" cd of Media Malpractice to the oldest person in the crowd.... the lady was 93 and tickled pink :)

I was in hopes of having a glimpse of Governor Palin, but she needed to get to Glenallen, which is a fur piece from Wasilla.

Medals were handed out to veterans of our Military. The last medal was given to a very young boy who was held up to the mic by his grandfather. His mom is serving overseas, due home in a week. Grandpa and Grandma were taking good care of the kiddo until mom can come marching home !

DanO May 30, 2009 11:13 PM

RAM,
I'm a Beverly Hills-billy, (Beverly Hills, MI) but originally from St. Clair Shores.

I know the huge Russo family in S.C.S., so I'll tweak JR gently when the Wings win. They are the epitome of what Sarah called The Good People We Grow In Our Small Towns.

RAM, Beverly Hills, Birmingham and most of SE Oakland County is lost to the snooty socialites who voted for the smooth talker who matches their uptown pretensions, but I'm tellin' ya - Macomb County is in play again. Win Macomb and you can paint Michigan red.

Conservative Chick May 30, 2009 11:16 PM

I agree, R.A. The majority of ppl attending tea parties are hard working Americans who are tired of government waste and taxed excessively. I live in san diego and attended one of the many April 15 tax day tea parties held in san diego. The vast majority of those in attendance were hard working everyday Americans uniting for a common purpose! I had never been prouder 2 be an American and voice my 1st amendment right!!!

Nancy May 30, 2009 11:19 PM

RAM,
You are awesome! You are still my cult leader! Am I still allowed in the cult?:)
By the way, puke about the game tonight!
The Red Wings don't have to worry about the Avs for awhile, because we have been stinking it up for a few years, with no hope on the horizon.

R. A. Mansour May 30, 2009 11:23 PM

RAM, Beverly Hills, Birmingham and most of SE Oakland County is lost to the snooty socialites who voted for the smooth talker who matches their uptown pretensions, but I'm tellin' ya - Macomb County is in play again. Win Macomb and you can paint Michigan red.

===

The problem is voter fraud, DanO. Michigan will never be in play as long as Dems can steal Detroit. More people voted in the 2004 presidential election in Detroit than voters on the rolls. It was such an obvious example of shameless voter fraud, and yet no investigation. Michigan is always a wash because of voter fraud. They refuse to report the Detroit precinct numbers until all the other precincts report so that they know how many votes they need to steal.

Until that's cleaned up, I don't think the state will go red again. The only way it could go red is if the GOP were to win by such a huge margin that the Dems couldn't steal it. If it ain't close, they can't steal it. And it's been close for years.

Lipstick May 30, 2009 11:24 PM

Nancy, Nancy, Nancy ...Hockey....better than football? My, that is an arrest type offense where I live. Just THINKING that can get you in lots of trouble here. ;)

R. A. Mansour May 30, 2009 11:32 PM

Nancy,

I still remember the famous hockey brawl with the Avs -- the one which shall live in hockeytown history.

I was in college and working an internship around the Joe and a co-worker's dad had season tickets. I wasn't at that game, but I was a total Wingnut in college. (They're still my team, but I don't follow them as religiously as I did when I was still in Hockeytown).

Wow... those were the days...

Nancy May 30, 2009 11:33 PM

Lipstick-
You're from Texas right? Football is like religion down there, your high school football is as huge as some colleges! So, I can imagine what trouble I would get in down there!

Nancy May 30, 2009 11:39 PM

RAM-
Every time you say Hockeytown, I throw up a little in my mouth!:) Ugh!
I have my kids so brainwashed, if we see a Red Wings bumper sticker, or car flag, we say oh, those poor people. We do the same thing with Obama bumper stickers. I just tell the kids, we need to pray for those people.

Sapwolf May 30, 2009 11:41 PM

Wow, RAM.

My ex-wife and boy live in Clawson next to Royal Oak. I was just up there Thursday to see him after my South Bend court appearance.

The Redwings are one of the few bright spots in the Detroit area.

The economy is so bad that everybody's homes are worth less than the mortgage. My ex told me the neighbors had to move due to work and they had to fork out $40,000 just to sell the house and cover the loss to pay off the existing mortgage. They both work for either the FBI or the Secret Service, I forget which.

Lipstick May 30, 2009 11:42 PM

Yes, I am not only a Texan but a Native Texan..my poor husband is not, he was born in Mississippi. ;)
Anyway, we are all pretty much Baptist and football people and NASCAR, of course, here. Last year our town's team went 3 rounds deep in the playoffs, people were going INSANE. Friday night..where is everybody? Oh, they're at the football game!

bitterclinger May 30, 2009 11:56 PM

An actual fair quote about Governor Palin? Posted on ABC news, of all places? Well color me surprised!

http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/Parenting/story?id=7667568&page=1

"I actually thinks it's atrocious that Kate is being portrayed as a monster," former Us Weekly editor Bonnie Fuller told "GMA." "Like all strong women, she's a target and we've seen it before. We saw it in the election campaign. We saw it with Hillary Clinton. We saw it with Sarah Palin. Strong, aggressive women who know what they want and don't mind being in the public eye are very much in for a public drubbing."

_____________

I've never heard of Bonnie Fuller, but at least she seems to "get it".

And this is why I can't stand Huckabee. I thought he was merely laughing at Palin jokes (which was bad enough),but he actually told them at that stupid Couric roast?

Upon spotting McCain-Palin advisor Nicolle Wallace, Huck joked that "Sarah Palin coming to this event is about as likely as Nancy Pelosi headlining a CIA Christmas dinner."

Her appeal is that she very much the citizen executive, called upon to do a job; and applies common sense and fair play to every situation; she tells you something you can take that to the bank. Hence the attempt by hostile factions to impugn anything and everything about her motives, ethics, family's situation. She's like someone out of a Frank Capra or even John Ford film. So she would uniquely fit in a group of conscientous citizens. She moved from the PTA to the city council and mayorship of Wasilla, to the oil commission and the governor's office, making waves and making some enemies

Rallying the Tea Party people is good. These folks might get her nominated. These folks might bring the House back to the GOP. But Sarah needs to be seen with the POOR. Talking to MINORITIES. Poor people and minorities account for 1/4 of the electorate. Sarah already has the white middle class pro lower taxes vote wrapped up.

She needs to be seen as a valid and credible alternative to the false messiah.

Tea party people are not enough to win the general elections.

She needs to start being photographed with the little black kids from the neighborhoods. She needs to be seen photographed with Latino small community leaders.

She needs to show concern for the less previledged folks.

She is doing a hell of a job with the pro life movement. She needs to keep pushing in that way so she can wrap up the Evengelical and Catholic vote.

Don't forget the women. She needs to be seen with black and latino women, so she could be a credible alternative to Hillary.

These are the basis to get a decent win over Obama in 2012.

These are my two cents for today Palinists!

Carmelo - I agree except where she lives outside of Native Americans (Eskimos) there is not a large minority population in Alaska. She is seen with Nataive Americans often so that is a minority group she relates with. I don't think she will have a problem with the Hispanic community when running for Prez. The Hispanic Population in Alaska is around 5%. That is well below the National average.

PEC

I totally agree. But PERCEPTION is what makes people vote. Sarah was seen almost all cases with "white-middle class" people during her VP campaign. She needs(or at least her advisors make her)to go talk to those minorities and those less priviledged groups every time she travels to the main land. That needs to happen NOW!
Don't wait until after she gets nominated!

Obama might recapture momemtum with these groups by August 2012.

Sarah needs to take the POPULACE(or at least a large portion of it) away from the false messiah ASAP.

"These people looked for Governor Palin like my kids look for their shoes when we have to go somewhere. They look in the vicinity they're at, and if the shoes aren't there, they can't find them. Can't bother them to actually move around, look under things, move things aside, no too much effort."

Nancy, R.A.M., et al, the Tea Party event didn't start until 2pm. The twitter post was twitted at 1:15pm and said she had "met", past tense, with the organizers. Those photos do not in any way disprove what Phil Munger says he saw. So, yes, she did meet them, before the event, but did not apparently "attend" the event.

And if she didn't because she had to get on the road to somewhere else, that's fine.

But please don't imply that Phil Munger is lying about what he saw using those photos as proof, because they are not.

MarvinM,
No, they didn't look very well for Governor Palin, because somebody apparently saw her "came." But on top of that they didn't look very well for people who attended the tea party who had seen her, because we in those pictures, about 8-10 people who had seen her. I'm sure the tea party organizers did attend the tea party. So, they are worse at looking than I thought.

Yep, looks like Govenor Palin to me.

nice work Phil.

MarvinM:

Phil Munger not a liar?

"Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and family came, but, apparently, the governor didn't even get out of her silver-grey SUV."

Sounds like a big fat lie to me.

Oh yes...I know...it's time to drag out all the arguments for "journalistic nuances" but that statement was wholly intended to mislead the reader into thinking that Sarah did not visit with organizers.

Munger employs the following throw-away word:

"...apparently..."

When someone reads an article they don't see, comprehend or appreciate the fact that "apparently" suggests that the writer is not making a factual statement.

What the reader hears is:

"Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and family came but the governor didn't even get out of her silver-grey SUV".

Phil Munger totally intended to hoodwink the reader.

Call it what you want. I call it lying.

OK, maybe I didn’t connect my dots good enough. Let me try again.

Gov. Palin goes to meet the organizers of the event, who of course are there early setting up (it starts at 2, so let’s say at 1:00). Yes, obviously she must have gotten out of her vehicle to have those pictures taken. I’m not arguing that.

Then, she twitters that she has met with the organizers at 1:15 - this is a full 45 minutes before the event starts.

Now here’s the important part maybe I didn’t connect - Yes, Gov. Palin was out of her vehicle - at 1:00 to 1:15 or so.

But Phil Munger was not there until later, after or just as the event started, maybe half an hour or more later. He didn’t see her because he was simply not there when those pictures were taken.

It’s like, if you went to a party and got there at 8pm, and stayed until 10:30pm, and later, the cops asked you if X was there, and you said “no”, you would not be a liar if X had been there from 7:15 to 7:45pm.

What matters is this.
No matter who you are.
If you live in America, you are effected by who gets put in offices of the government.

Going about ambushing people, slithering around with a camera and posting rantings on some nothing blog that gets even less than nothing traffic daily does nothing to help fix the overwhelming problems in this country.

The people of the United States have a Chronic sickness it is called IMMORALITY.

All you out there that do not love the God of The Bible will some day see Jesus Christ in full power. I pray before then your hearts are softened and you come to know the saving power of Jesus Christ.

Until we have Christian Leaders in offices of our government, this country can do nothing but continue to roll down the hill of immorality like a snowball headed for hell.

My take on all this is is you are not for helping American Citizens grown and work together for the good of this country and it's people, then you should just crawl back under your rock and shut the heck up.

If you come to any more Patriot Tea Parties to shoot video, take photos and gather info to bad mouth the hard working citizens who are sponsoring the events, we will point you out and hand you a microphone...
Quit being a coward and come out of your closet at our tea party meetings.

I do not speak for the Patriot Tea Party, I speak for www.alaskalive.net

You who only go about trying to sow strive are despicable little human beings.

I will pray your eyes are opened up before it is too late.
My whole family loves Sara Palin as a Woman, a Mother, a Wife and a Great Governor.

That is why the nation of immoral, corrupt individuals are attacking her because she stands for Good and Decency.

Thank you Sarah for coming out to the tea party. I can only hope you do not catch hell for showing up.

We the people support you, respect you and pray for you daily to succeed.

We love you.

Dennis Zaki, Phillip Munger... You need to get a life!
