Governor Palin's Statement on Attacks Against Carrie Prejean
Via SarahPAC:
May 13, 2009
The liberal onslaught of malicious attacks against Carrie Prejean for expressing her opinion is despicable.
Carrie and I spoke soon after the attacks started; I can relate as a liberal target myself. What I find so remarkable is that these politically-motivated attacks fail to show that what Carrie and I believe is also what President Obama and Secretary Clinton believe - marriage is between a man and a woman.
I applaud Donald Trump for standing with Carrie during this time. And I respect Carrie for standing strong and staying true to herself, and for not letting those who disagree with her deny her protection under the nation's First Amendment Rights.
Our Constitution protects us all - not just those who agree with the far left.
Governor Sarah Palin

Awesome statement Sarah!
Did she watch Cavuto and Breitbart's chat?
Breirbart mentioned this on Cavuto, and I had no idea what he was talking about.
Good for the Gov. I think she feels a special kinship for Ms. Prejean. Neither of them are afraid to stand for what they believe.
Great job Sarah.
Amen sista! It's amazing that Hollywood bloggers with an obvious agenda are digging and attacking because of their own sexuality. They are twisting her photos taken on a windy day and the media isn't using the sound bytes explaining that she was not posing topless but rather accidentally exposed.
Today we also received word that the APA no longer accepts the notion of a "gay gene" and rather accepts the science of hormones for explaining homosexuality. Does this change the concept of bigotry now that they are not born with a gene? It's "science". We should be protecting marriage as agreed by the Congress, President, Secretary of State, Governor of Alaska, and Miss California.
Awesome guys! Actually got this link from AP on my mobile tweet!
It is so great of Gov Palin to issue this statement for Carrie. Two great and strong women who have been viciously attacked by the left.
Can someone post the Brietbart/Cavuto thing if it's out there.
Sarah: Like we say in the 'hood'...: wErD. ;-)
I have been hoping(praying) she would start. Folks, the engines of true change are rumbling. Don't ever be disheartened. Our Sarah has set her eyes on 2012.
If you "verify before you trust" Sarah's your man.
Awesome! you go Sarah!!!
Sarah and Carrie as well as Tammy Bruce and Laura Ingraham are the modern conservative feminists!
Smart, beautiful, and kicking liberal butt.
GO SARAH GO!! No wonder the libs are so scared to death of her. She knows the libs are out to get her, just like they are out to get all Conservatives and those who are not for their sick liberal agenda. Sarah is just AMAZING!!! I love how she bitch slapped the libs who are out to get her and Carrie. LOVE YA SARAH!!
Two beautiful women, inside and out, standing tall and standing strong for decency and fairness. The American people know role models when they see them!
What was wrong with Carrie saying what she believed? I think this is more than a comment on gay marriage. It has to do with misrepresenting her past. Why is a beauty pageant so important?
Sarah, I agree with you that the Constitution protects everybody, but please don't be so naive to believe that the far Left will ever come to that conclusion.
Sarah, you and Carrie Prejean are kind, decent women who any parent would be proud to call daughter but it's time that women like you folks and men as well stop being CHARITABLE to the far Left.
Let's face it: if members of the Far Left could stone either Sarah or Carrie to death and then take their scalp it would. Think of the bloodthirsty folks present at the execution of the French aristocrats in the early 1790's. The Far Left is despicable and should be treated as such. And that goes for the Fascist Obama as well.
Awesome statement! She nailed it.
Love the attitude of both, and neither Carrie or Sarah are backing down against their core values. Way to go!! Stand in their way, why make it easy for someone to walk over our rights, as we respect their rights, fair is fair.
Luv the Guv!
Sarah 2012!
As the husband of a beautiful strong Conservative woman I have a special affinity for them.
I applaud Gov. Palin for her statement.
1-20-13 come soon.
Pray for roadblocks for BHO as he attempts to destroy.....sorry...he said "Remake" America (into his Soros Socialist America).
Greta just read the statement
GREAT article by Ann Coulter about Ms. Prejean (with a Palin mention as well)
http://anncoulter.com/
You go girls!
Carrie - when God spoke to you up there in front of those liberals, and He said be strong, don't let the Devil win; did He mention His displeasure over how you altered His Own Creation of your breasts?
Funny how we filter though incomming information to pick and choose for our liking. No wonder we hate listening to people who disagree with something we hold dearly.
I thought we conservatives didn't approve of taking power over God's gifts.
I wish he gave Carrie better language skills - I think that really killed the message for her that night... "Opposite Marriage" is not in the Bible.
Tough luck. She looks awsome though - She and Sarah are quite the couple! A good presidential ticket if you ask me.
RIghty Tighty
No one asked you.
Go away...
It's a sad day when a Miss California is attacked for having a killer set of breasts.
Exit Question-
If God didn't want her to have the implants, why would he let them be created?
Where is Jindal, Pawlenty, Romney, Gingrich, Steele, Sanford, Huntsman, etc., ect.? My guess is that they are busy wetting their fingers and holding them in the air.
Why is it that Sarah Palin has to do all the heavy lifting. All these others will sit back, and watch the media feeding frenzy descend on Palin once again, and will not so much as lift a finger to support her. That's OK, Palin is tougher than all of them put together. By tomorrow this will be reported and blogged in an endless stream. You know what? The majority of people support traditional marriage, and everyone will see that she is the ONLY political figure (as opposed to a politician) who is willing to stick his or her neck out for a fellow human being.
Righty Tighty:
Clever name.
Your brain definetly lives in your tighty, whitie, undies.
Oldnwise - your sounding oldncrass
What a welcome for a young conservative like me who just wants our women to speak clearly. Sarah and Carrie could do better during interviews don't you think?
My issue is more with her wording than content. And her choice to alter her body - I'm not sure what your point is? Is it not the ultimate slap in the face to slash the artwork of the Creater in front of Him? Did he not do an awsome job the first time? He made implants as a trial. You use them, you fail the test. Like the question presented to her. Tempting just to say what is easy. She passed that one. Hell or Heaven for her? Good thing it's not my call.
I am guessing Rush is all for them on a ticket together.
Thanks for the compassion.
later
I cant wait for 2012 when Sarah takes the top spot.
I know thousands of folks that feel the same.
One day we will all look back and say, Whew! we almost blew it.
This is a blog piece that I left at TeamSarah today:
Title:
"Shanna Moakler Resigns From Miss California USA Organization. My Response: "GOOD RIDDANCE!!"
Shanna Moakler, co-executive director of the Miss California USA Pagent, resigned today, in response to Donald Trump's decision to keep Carrie Prejean on as Miss California.
She stated "I cannot with a clear conscience move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth. "I want to be a role model for young women with high hopes of pageantry, but now feel it more important to be a role model for my children."
TRANSLATION:
She disagrees completely with what Carrie Prejean said yesterday just a few feet from her, as Carrie was choking back tears:
"On April 19 on that stage, I exercised my freedom of speech, and I was punished for doing so. This should not happen in America."
So Shanna, all I have to say to you is "GOOD RIDDANCE". Maybe Keith Lewis will join you soon, and completely rid of the chaff that was in your organization.
Righty tighty:
Why do I think I here a lack of sincerity in you. Could it be when you wrote: ''they made a good team for the presidential ticket". Tell me Righty, you were being serious when you said that? Right. The breast comment was out of line. Your a conservative? I don't think so. The heaven and hell comment, "glad its not your call", I'm glad too. You were judgmental throughout your comments. You said the first time: "She looks awesome though". The second time you said: "Didn't God do an awesome job the first time". Which is it Righty Tighty? Awesome she had them done or awesome what God gave her?
YOUR THE ONE WHO WAS BEING CRASS.
And "they" question whether she can write, or not.
Sarah smacked down the left, the msm, and called out Zero and Hillary in just about 120 words.
I'll bet liberal heads are exploding tonight.
Can't wait for the book.
RIGHT ON! LOVE the comment. All her statements are so true. Good for her for making a note of this. It's at least on record and the media can choose to cover it or not, but let it be said palin again spoke the truth about the liars.
I wish sarah would continue to let her opinion be heard (i was really disappointed that it turned out not to be her who wrote that NYPost article on obama's 100 mistakes). I want more of that plain-spoken, palin-speaking, truth-revealing, mavericky commentary from her. And the more snark, the more bite and wit, the better. :D
Nice, Palin's not afraid to mention the liberals specifically. she fights! she hunts, she doesn't squirm away. she stands up for herself and her beliefs. GAME ON, media!!!! GAME OOOOONNNNNNN.
Mr. Toki,
You are awesome, sir.
Yours Sincerely,
Amanda K
Awesome statement.
Freedom of speech is allowable for everyone and not only for libs!
Gov.Palin; strong in character and courageous ,defending freedom of speech and willing to stick out her neck for Carrie, while others are silent and don't have the courage to speak out.
Well said Governor Palin. I am looking forward to seeing and hearing more from you, along this line, in the coming months and years. All the best to you, your family, and the state of Alaska.
And as Cilizza points out over at the Fix, Sarah put this out under SarahPac. And he said we may be hearing more from her under the Pac.
Though he continues to spread the poop that she can't balance her national and state obligations and gives the WHCD as the most recent example. Even when he cites that it was because of flooding, he doesn't seem to think that's reason enough. Sheesh!
I heard about this on Greta last night but I had already turned off the computer. I went to bed hoping she'd done it under the Pac, 'cause it has nothing to do with state business, and ethics complaint would have followed as the sun follows the rain.
I shouldn't have worried, however, the 'cuda had it covered. :)
I still say they need to overhaul the SarahPac site, however. The comment is buried in the news, which takes several clicks to get to.
Great statement by Sarah. Clear and to the point and reveals the left's obvious hypocrisy on this issue. Bravo! I remember in the VP debate how Sarah was speaking up for the traditonal marriage defintion, and before she could even finish her sentence Boy Wonder Biden was raising his hand and nearly shouting, "Me too! Me too!"
Somewhat OT:
I just LOVE the pathetic attempts of trolls who come here thinking they can cleverly pretend to be conservatives that simply do not like Palin in order to bring division amongst us....as if we don't see them coming miles away. Some try to be funny, some unsuccessfully try to be intellectual, and the rest are just rude and insulting.
Personally, I like it when sincere/genuine people come here to respectfully ask legitimate questions about Palin. But 9 out of 10 are just trolls. It's hysterical!Ok, I'm done. :)
Uh, 4 eyes - I bet you voted for Obama, right? Would you kindly remind me again of his position on marriage? And if you're not sure, just re-read Sarah's statement. It's not Sarah or Carrie you guys have a problem with, it's your Messiah!
It's all politics to the other Repub's thats why they have not said anything like what Sarah has done.
Politics is the Problem!..
With Sarah principles matter, constitutional rights-freedom of speech, decency and respect...
Sarah is so far ahead of the accepted norm... but the folks are rising up, beginning to assemble to be heard and be counted, a movement is gathering strength and with time is going to STOP THE MADNESS.
Gov Palin, I agree with you that Miss Prejean had the right to say what she did during the Miss USA contest and should not have been penalized because of her remarks.
I agree with what she said and her right to say it.
That being said, I don't agree with Miss Prejean/CA in anything else. In fact, I heard from day 1, from someone connected with her and the California Pageant program, that Miss Prejean was promoting herself as someone totally different from the person she really was. She was lying and the truth would eventually come out. And it has been.
She lied about modeling, a photographer could not have legally taken semi-nude/nude photos of a 17 year old. She lied Wednesday, May 13 on the CBS News program (as well as other times), she said that the photographer released those photos and did not have the right to do so. If that was the case, she would be sueing the photographer. But as a model, she knows that the PHOTOGRAPHER owns those photos, she knew they existed, and lied about it all. She said those nudies were between shots, no, they were posed! What a liar!
No Christian or Conservative model would pose nudeor semi-nude. You are told upfront the consequences of posing nude and no Christian or Conservative would agree to do so. She drinks and parties with rich men, and only chose to present herself as a Christian to promote herself.
Oh, and the implants, just want every Christian Conservative woman needs, right?
This is all a publicity stunt. Wonder how much Miss Prejean and Donald Trump have made? Plenty!
Oh, and the Gays got their PR, too! See the true pic now?
Could you see Carrie campaigning with Sarah? And then joined by Michelle Bachmann, Marsha Blackburn and Sarah Steeleman? The MSM's heads would explode, but they all would be slobbering over it.
The beauty of all these women is obvious. The presstitutes don't want to acknowledge the brains, though.
Why is it conservative women are so gorgeous -- inside and out.
This is an interesting turn of a phrase:
"the anti gay-marriage movement."
Let's think about that wording. For as long as the word "marriage" (and related words like "matrimony") has existed in English, it has referred to a bond between a man and a woman. Many cultures have allowed a man to have more than one such marriage at a time, and I'm told that a few have even let a woman have more than one marriage, but none of the societies that recognize the idea of marriage have held it to be anything other than between a man and a woman. Not even those cultures that looked upon homosexuality as either benign or a positive influence called homosexual unions by the same word as the heterosexual variety.
Therefore, the only "movement" is to redefine the word "marriage" to include something it has never meant before, anywhere on Earth. Those who oppose "same-sex marriage" don't want to move a blessed thing; we want to preserve the meaning of the fundamental institution of civilization.
Where did she say that 1st amendment rights were violated?
I guess reading comprehension is not required in whatever basement you hail from.
Where did she say that 1st amendment rights were violated? As one of the 'morons', I'll take this one.
"And I respect Carrie for standing strong and staying true to herself, and for not letting those who disagree with her deny her protection under the nation's First Amendment Rights."
I think people are referring to Mrs. Palin's claim that her First Amendment rights were denied.
Where does she say that there has been a violation? Nowhere. She says that she respects Prejean for not being scared to speak her mind, and reminds her that in this country we have a right to free speech.
Her statement doesn't need to be changed. It's clear to those of us who aren't trying to twist and misinterpret her words.
Why doesn't the left grow up - attacking a 21 year old for her views on marriage is petty in the extreme. If this issue is so important to them, why not go for the big fish - like their man in the White House? The hypocrisy of the left on this issue is appalling. It's wrong for Carrie to be against same-sex marriage, but OK for "The One".
God Bless Sarah Palin and Carrie Prejean!!
Johnfromcanada.
No it isn't okay from Obama, just because I voted for Obama doesn't mean he gets a pass. Certainly he is a step in the right direction, he favors federal recognition of same sex unions which is more than any previous president has said.
She says that she respects Carrie for not letting people that disagree with her shut her up. We all have the right to free speech, and we shouldn't lose sight of that in the face of an attack. Why is this so hard to understand?
Great statement of Gov.Palin.
It is all over the web ; many positive reactions.
Gov.Palin also exposed the double standard of the MSM/libs.
The MSM/lib are attacking and ridiculing Carrie on this issue ,but not Obama and Clinton who has the same opinion on this issue.
Jimmy - I think (know) you miss the point. Liberals throw darts and hide behinfd the 1st Amendment all the time. When a Conservative expresses their view it is always wrong. IS it a 1st Amendment issue. Yes and no. The limitations of speech is actually a Government issue. Say the liberal Hate speech bill. Government cannot limit speech so how a law is being passed does is beyond any realms of possibility. Can C4P as a private company delete you and limit your speech on their site. Yes. Note a private company.
The jist of what Governor Palin (and you have to understand she is born, raised and Governs the State with the most Individual Freedoms in the country) is the basis of the 1st Amendment is to allow individuals to speak have different ideas, accept this and not get your panties in a wad when somebody disagrees with you. With that being the background of the 1st amendment then yes GOV Palin is correct.
It's interesting to note that most dictatorships also guarantee "freedom of speech," but they enforce the direct opposit through media control. No one in their right mind can say that there is a separation between the far left, the media, and the 0bama administration. Yes, our constitution guarantees freedom of speech, but for at least the last 25 years we have seen Political Correctness enforced at almost every level, including the government. Anyone violating the standards of Political Correctness are attacked, vilified, and even punished with loss of their employment, vandalism of their property, and in some cases, physical assault. All these actions put a big chill on "freedom of speech." Palin was correct to mention the 1st Amendment in her statement, those who are making the argument that Prejean's freedom of speech wasn't violated are doing so out of sheer ignorance, or they are being untruthful.
So my comments are being deleted. Should i have someone complain about my 1st amendment rights?
Sarah Palin - A Champion of Free Speech!! and a true American Hero.
The irony of my posts being deleted is overwhelming.
Ugafish, Now it looks like you've been arguing with yourself.
If you were really confident in your candidate you'd let opposing comments stand so long as they are respectful. You are really setting yourself up for failure if you can't argue effectively.
Your posts were absurd. You misread her statement in a deliberate attempt to discredit her. Her statement was true, and well said.
If my statements where absurd wouldn't it serve better to leave them up so that others could see how foolish they were?
Now all they will see is you arguing with the nobody.
I'm on the phone with John Edwards right now. I want him to release a statement about this site's attempts to deny my 1st amendment protections.
lol, I'm not a moderator.
So since they were "absurd" in your opinion, they should be removed?
The level of hypocrisy being displayed here is astounding.
So, are you violating my first amendment rights by deleting my post?
Hint: No, you are not. You're just acting childish.
I didn't think you were. I was really just hoping that you and I might agree on this one thing even though we don't agree on many others. It's silly to delete comments from a post about freedom of speech so long as they are respectful. And they have left you arguing with yourself up there.
ugafishlol, I'm not a moderator. Thanks for clarifying. I did actually think you were.
But the point remains: Even IF you take Sarah's statement to be accurate, that people were actively trying to deny the woman her right to free speech (as I assume the moderators of this site do), then how is removing opposing opinions not the same thing?
/Not trying to single you out, ugafish. Asking generally because the policy of removing certain opinions seems to be completely at odds with the statement the Governor made.
I Said,
You were using crude langauge, and that's not allowed.
And I respect Carrie for standing strong and staying true to herself, and for not letting those who disagree with her deny her protection under the nation's First Amendment Rights. Her First Amendment Rights are not being denied or threatened.
That Gov. Palin fails to understand that the First Amendment applies to the government, and not the actions of private parties, is not surprising.
"ugafish said...
Where does she say that there has been a violation? Nowhere. She says that she respects Prejean for not being scared to speak her mind, and reminds her that in this country we have a right to free speech."
Uh, what she said is right there in her statement: "I respect Carrie for standing strong and staying true to herself, and for not letting those who disagree with her deny her protection under the nation's First Amendment Rights."
In order to deny her first amendment rights, Perez Hilton, the Miss Universe pageant or the Miss California pageant would have to be a government entity. AFAIK, these are all private entities.
It's pretty clear Mrs. Palin is a little confused here as to what the first amendment protects.
And she has shown this before.
You can go ahead and delete this post now.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
That is the first amendment. It does not protect against citizens commenting on another citizen. If she were jailed for her comments during the beauty pageant, then yes, it would be a first amendment violation. It is kind of scary that Gov. Palin could have been second in command of our country if she doesn't even understand such a basic part of the constitution.
Of course, this will be deleted, and according to Gov. Palin, my right of free speech will have been infringed. Kinda interesting dontchaknow?
She understands what the First Amendment says, but you're missing the point. She's expressing her respect for Carrie, and encouraging her remain strong by stating that no matter how hard people try, they can't take away her First Amendment Rights. It's an obvious point, but encouraging to keep in mind: Carrie shouldn't let people who disagree with her deny her First Amendent Rights, because they can't.
I don't think Sarah is confused at all. She is with the majority of Americans when they quote the 1st amendment rights as being able to say what you want to say without penalty. This may not be totally accurate, but it is how the majority understand it and that is why we all respect and love Sarah...because she is for the common man the every day Joe. Not those that want to tear apart every word and find some "fine" line to makes her look incorrect.
The common people, not the elitist in DC and Ny, are tired of this kind of picking apart every word...no one does that in real life except to demean someone.
Why would anyone want to come to this place "CONSERVATIVES FOR PALIN" to complain about something so small and wouldn't be on the radar of the vast majority of people? Get a life.
This discussion reminds me of the old childhood game, "Telephone." One person says something to another and this continues. During the course of the transmission the original wording is completely lost.
In this case, I think Ms. Prejean's coinage of a new term, "opposite marriage" was what attracted attention. No one was interested in what her opinion was. The subsequent brouhaha was on contract violation. I have yet to see anywhere where there was an attempt to silence her views on marriage.
It seems this thread has been infested by a bunch of trolls. It's amazing how much ire one can raise among the left by merely stating the obvious: that marriage is between one man and one woman. I suppose it is sentiments such as that that make me a Barbarian. I wonder if the liberals would be equally outraged if I were to say something even more dangerous, such as my belief that grass is green and the sky is blue. If I keep this up this "hate speech", I may make Janet Napolitano's list of subversives who need to be monitored.
“Our Constitution protects us all - not just those who agree with the far left.” Watch out lefties the gloves are off.
The engines were ignited at the right to life event the wheels are in now in motion and the motorcade is set to roll.
Righty TIghty:
...I wish he gave Carrie better language skills - I think that really killed the message for her that night... "Opposite Marriage" is not in the Bible....
Well how would you answer the question when you’re caught off guard in front of millions of people with a question that you know whichever way you answered it you’d be slammed and especially. Had you watched Carries subsequent interviews or her statement at the news conference this week you’d see the Carrie is quite articulate and as she said herself that she stumbled with those words. Give the girl a break and let it go.
...Did He mention His displeasure over how you altered His Own Creation of your breasts?...
Does that mean that in your opinion if someone does something against their believes that should give up everything they believe in?
I myself don’t believe in messing with nature nevertheless the fact that I don’t agree with her on that doesn’t make me disagree with everything else she does. I applaud her for standing up for her beliefs’ we all do things that isn’t always acceptable to our religions or beliefs, when we realize our mistake we ask god for his forgiveness and move on.
Also we don’t know what the circumstances were behind her implants there may be more to what we know. Unfortunately we live in a world where we are so fast to judge we see things in black and white while in most if not all cases there is another side in of the story. I believe in “the benefit of the doubt” that’s just the way I was brought up.
What do Donald Trump's corporate interests, dealing with how subjectively beautiful somebody looks in a bikini and how to maximise profit from said persons beauty, have to do with the First Amendment which sets out that the government may not interfere with your right to speak freely?
C4Pers,
Why do you try to argue with someone who comes here just to stir things up?
Don't waste your time.
From my teaching experience I know that when kids misbehave it is for attention. Negative attention is better than no attention.
The easiest way to end their obnoxious behavior is to ignore them. They stop. If it is to disruptive you remove them from their audience..ie put them in the hall.
That is why I ignore trolls. That should be a rule here.
However. Although I support Ms. Prejean's right to simply answer the question...I do not think she needs to campaign with Palin.
Come on guys. Palin is a sitting governor whom we all want to be POTUS. She does not need Miss California campaigning with her. Palin being a woman means she needs to keep everything very "high brow" if you will.
No offense to beauty queens but they have not proven themselves in a political area the way Palin has as a city councilperson, mayor and governor.
Have the Dixie Chicks finished my turkey pot pie?
AdoringPalin
Thank you - That is exactly right. We do our best with what we are given. We bring our own morals to the table and decide for ourselves what is and is not right. Do I augment? Do I support gay rights - what do I base my decision on? These thing are not in the Bible.
Asking forgiveness from someone who did not provide the answers in the first place seems funny to me. It was once said in all religions that you should treat others as you would be treated and all the rest is a footnote. "benefit of the doubt" is good moral too.
Sandra - I thought she lost the crown because she was not articulate, but it might have been for her views. Like debates in school where you were asked to defend a position and you were graded on how well you defended the position - not on the actual position. I could be wrong. I wish I heard the eventual winner give her answer.
Gavin - you are right, The first amendment is not even pertinent. I don't know why she brought it up.
As for trolling - does everyone just want to here their own side cheering themselves on? How boring is that?
I think America needs at least 2 political parties to work; and I think the Republicans need to focus on ideas, or they will be passed up by a new second party with a message.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Michelle Malkin blogged about Nancy Pelosi's meltdown over the Healthcare Bill where she blamed its failure to pass on those large powerful insurance companies who make obscene profits.
Michelle also noted Pelosi's dismal poll numbers comparing them to numbers for O.J. Simpson and Herpes. Then she ended with the following:
" Incidentally, if you vote out a old liberal pollutant next November, you'll qualify for a rebate under the private-sector answer to the Cash for Clunkers Program."
Love that Michelle Malkin, YOU GO GIRL.
Senator John Kerry's (a.k.a. Lurch) daughter was arrested in Los Angeles for DUI. I'm sure that this will be all over the lame stream media tonight.
