Matt Zencey at the ADN Lets His PDS Run Free; UPDATE: Post Removed
Well, the Anchorage Daily News editorial staff, headed up by Matt Zencey, has really decided to toss any pretense of editorial fairness out the window. (And so soon after we gave them kudos for getting it right for a change!)
One of the features of the ADN website is the "Inside Opinion" blog. Its mission:
If you have questions about how the Daily News makes editorial decisions, this blog has the answers. Editorial page editor Matt Zencey and writers Frank Gerjevic and Rosemary Shinohara will discuss what they're working on, answer questions and ask your perspective on issues facing Alaska.
However, the blog has apparently evolved into a place to reprint crude and tasteless e-mail jokes about Governor Palin and her children. Here's an excerpt from their latest post:
News that Sarah Palin signed a book deal has piqued the imagination of an unknown humorist, who produced this list of potential titles that's circulating on the Internet:
[...]
“The Perils of Caribou Barbie”
“The Lyin', The Witch, And The Wardrobe”
“Bible Spice: Word Salad Made Easy”
“The Conscience of a Moron”
“The Audacity of a Dope”
“Knocked Up: The Palin Family Story”
So Matt Zencey now uses his official editorial blog as a place to reprint anonymous e-mail jokes that include sexist and anti-religious slurs, that mock a teenage mother, and that refer to the sitting governor of the state as a "witch", "moron" and "dope".
That's great! Really professional, Matt! Hey, in the interest of editorial balance, maybe you can post another entry with a bunch of one-liners mocking Michelle Obama's physical appearance. Here's some source material for you.
Update: Ugafish found that this material comes straight from Daily Kos. Now we know where the editorial staff at the ADN gets their opinions from.
This isn't the first time that they have gotten story ideas from Moulitsas.
Update by RAM: Down the memory hole! The post has now been removed by the ADN. Isn't it fortune that we saved a copy of it for posterity here.
Funny that they didn't even offer an explanation for why the story was taken down or a defense of why it appeared in the first place.
I know that you can see Russia from Alaska, but can you see Pravda from the ADN?
Update by VO: Great take on this issue by Ace.

VO,
I think they got that from the daily Kos:

Good to see that the ADN is dropping the pretense, and revealing where they get their talking points.
The ADN is a JOKE
Fun Fact-
Matt Zencey's sexual sadism would make Lavrentiy Beria blush.
Nothing would surprise me including Obama bankrolling the ADN and agreeing to keep it a going concern as long as it strives to take down Sarah Palin on a daily basis.
Speaking of Michelle Obama's physical appearance, I bought the TIME magazine's 100 World's Influential People issue and it had a very unflattering picture of her. It was a full page pic. They shouldn't have blown it up so big like that.
sounds like another e-mail from C4P to the Daily Kos, er, ADN is warranted. What assholes.
Fun Fact-
All of Matt Zencey's girlfriends come packaged in a nice oblong box.
Fun Fact-
Matt Zencey's idea of a romantic evening involves a tub of Vaseline, a donkey, and Jay Ramras.
Fun Fact-
Matt Zencey is a willing Cuckold.
Fun Fact-
Matt Zencey has a small colony of ring worms living in his colon. He named each worm after a character on the Brady Bunch.
Cousin Oliver is his favorite.
Fun Fact-
Matt Zencey thought Chlamydia was just a breakfast cereal.
How wrong he was...
Disgusting...
Well maybe its time to fight fire with fire.
Perhaps someone at C4P could do some research and establish a list of all the major advertisers at the ADN (both local and national) and post the email addresses of these firms.
We could then individually write these firms - and attach this editorial material - and ask them if they support these views of the ADN editorialists - and if not - why they continue to advertise in such a paper!
Also, have the founders of C4P ever thought about forming a PAC, the purpose of which is to defend Gov. Palin. I know many here would gladly join in and contribute to it. The funds could then be used to place adds in the ADN not only defending the Gov. but also pointing out the misinformation the ANN is publishing. It would be interesting to see if the ADN would publish these adds - or refuse to print them. That would be a story in itself.
umm... lets take a deep breath and not try be blinded by anger.
this blog provides a vital service as a place for good discussion and information on gov. palin.
we shouldn't steep to the lefts tactics because that will turn off more people than attract.
a good editorial from newsminer on the ethics complaints:

Rusty has a good idea. I know Team Sarah raised money to run an ad for Gov. Palin's birthday in the Frontiersman, so a collective effort among the supporters of C4P is not so far fetched.
Why do they have to have to turn to Kos, whose founder looked at the mutilated bodies of Zobko, Helvenston, all former US veterans (the Blackwater contractors) on the Fallujah bridge and said "s#$7 um, they're merc, they deserve what they got" for information they should already know, I mean they've been covering her for a number of years, back then they were reliable enough that, Kaylene Johnson, used them as a source, along with the Matsu Frontiersman, for the bio of Sarah. One wouldn't rely on them, for the next go around. They're writing for an imminently 'more selectiveaudience'
re Spinal Tap. Than again, Time was taken in by 'Martin Eisenstadt'
aka Gorlin, six month later, so stupidity is strong with this bunch
The ADN may get their ideas/info from dKos, but Moulitsas Zuniga takes his marching orders directly from the Obama campaign/administration. It's not hard to correlate. The Obama talking points often show up on dKos first. Or maybe I have it backwards. Maybe Obama is getting his talking points from dKos and Keith Olbermann.

Oh, I dunno, I like Toki's take on this, and I don't think he sounds angry, just a tad sarcastic.
Good grief.
How old is this guy? Who is his boss?
He is an embarrassment to his profession.
That is the sort of stuff that is written on the bathroom wall in high school..no wait...it is to immature for that, more like Jr. High School.
Someone answer me please. Is it just a Texas thing that we are PROUD to be a Texan? I may not like my governor (I actually do but when it was Ann Richards...) but I have enough pride that I do not want the country to say bad things about my governor. How can you be that disrespectful to the sitting governor of YOUR state.
Have a little bit of Alaskan pride and self respect.
When I write something or am out of state I am all about bragging about Texas. I am a native Texan and love to talk up my state. It is fun and most people enjoy it because they have a picture of Texas.
Alaska is the same way, this guy...gee...why would you act like an idiot and talk about your governor like that in print?
ADN is clearly abandoning the print media and getting ready to transition to online only.
The only way to compete is to out-left the left. The only thing they have to sell is slam Palin.
This will end badly.
It WAS there now it's gone
yep, Mark, it looks as though wiser heads prevailed. Besides, they may have feared another round of complaints to their advertisers from us (C4P) common folks.
Happy Happy Dance!
The next ADN ad: "FAIR SCHMAIR".
Mark --
I saved it if VO or anyone needs to refer to it.
HA, their retreating.
You need to assemble a Counter-alinsky task force.
LOL!
"I know that you can see Russia from Alaska, but can you see Pravda from the ADN?"
And......C4P is effective yet again. Ta-da!
ADN-AKA-Alaska Democratic News?
Another Democratic Newspaper?
Alinsky Daily News?
Man, C4P is getting good, by publicizing and exposing their vileness, enough people must have complained and they removed it.
They probably can't see Pravda for the ADN, but I'm sure they have them on speed dial.
