Money-Grubbing Smear Merchants Rex Butler and Tank Jones Target Governor Palin

Some of our readers have emailed us wondering what Dennis Zaki at the Alaska Report website is alluding to with his teaser headline:

An iceberg is heading toward the Palins. Can it be stopped? I don't think so. Will it sink the ship, all signs say yes. Stay tuned...

We decided to do a little research. It is clear that the Alaskan leftwing blogs are working together to destroy Sarah Palin and her family. First their work centered on frivolous ethics complaints, and now they are moving on to the Palin family itself.

Apparently there's some coordination going on among the anklebiting Alaskan blogs. (Surprise!)

Who do they think they are fooling? One day they post an anti-Palin article on their blog, and the next day an ethics complaint is lodged using the very same language as the anti-Palin article?

On the day that Bill McAllister went on Eddie Burke's show to announce that Governor Palin had launched a Twitter account, the lefty Alaskan blogs seemed convinced that some bombshell would be dropped -- and made posts with "hints" as to what it would be about, kind of like The Riddler in a Batman movie. See Mudflats and Celtic Diva and judge for yourselves.

Anyway, lets get back to the teaser headline on the "Alaska Report." It took about three minutes to discover where this headline originated -- the Immoral Minority blog. Our readers should be aware, if they are not already, that the operator of the Immoral Minority blog, "Gryphen," is a "Trig Truther," meaning somebody who does not believe that Trig Palin is Governor Palin's son. Examples of his "Trig Trutherism" can be found here, here and here. Gryphen also believes that Bristol Palin is pregnant again, and that Levi Johnston has been fathering children with other teenage girls.

Being a "Trig Truther" is the ultimate sign of Palin Derangement Syndrome. We were successful in our efforts to stop the Anchorage Daily News from linking to this nutjob's website.

So this guy is not the sharpest tool in the shed. The operator of the Immoral Minority blog admits that he is in regular contact with Rex Butler and Tank Jones. Rex Butler is the high-priced attorney who is handling legal issues for the Johnston family. Butler magically appeared in court to defend Sherry Johnston on her drug-dealing related arrest -- she originally was so broke she had to get a public defender. Butler is apparently also representing Diana Palin in the proceedings on her criminal charges.

How does Sherry Johnston afford an attorney like Rex Butler? How do the Johnstons get the money to zoom around the United States giving interviews? How do they pay their rent/mortgage or even the payments on Levi Johnston's truck (judging from this video, Levi's truck seems to be a Ford F-150 SuperCrew, which sells for about $30,000)?

Airplane tickets from Anchorage to Los Angeles and New York run a minimum of around $700 per person, and that doesn't include hotel stays and other transportation. Trips from Anchorage to Florida, where Mercede Johnston claimed (on Larry King's show) to have traveled in March, are running around $1200 round trip.

They have claimed on television that they are not receiving compensation for their appearances. So what gives? Levi has no job, his mother has no job, his sister has no job, so who is paying for this "Smear Palin" tour? If you recall the Larry King interview with the Johnstons, you will remember that Mercede Johnston mentioned that she had recently returned from Florida. Why Florida? Well, Florida is where Star Magazine has its headquarters. Hold on a second, Mercede gave an interview to Star Magazine!

So while Rex Butler is handling the Johnston publicity schedule, Tank Jones is the private investigator whose job it is to dig up dirt on the Palin family. Together they are "Butler and Jones" specializing in ambulance chasing and infidelity claims.

Check out Tank Jones' MySpace page, specifically the "Who I'd Like To Meet" section:

Who I'd like to meet:
You... If you believe that your signigicant (sic) other is having a fling and/or affair, call us. We'll unleash the truth.
Here are his MySpace Friends.

Here is Gryphen admitting to being in contact with Butler and Jones and also admitting to working with other bloggers to smear Governor Palin:

By the way I was also happy to hear "Tank" Jones receive that shout out from the Johnston family. Tank was the man who graciously answered my questions about Levi and let me know, and therefore all of you, that he was safe.

[...]

P.S. I have shared some of the more sensitive information with my fellow bloggers so do not worry that I am in any danger or that this information will not be made public at some point, it will. That is what makes us such a formidable community of bloggers.

Having the proof that Gryphen is in contact with Jones and Butler, we can now establish that Butler and Jones are the people behind the Levi Johnston "media tour across America," based on this next comment by Gryphen:

Now we all have to sit back and see what Rex Butler and Sherman "Tank" Jones have in mind for future Levi television appearances.

Ah, so there you have it. The lawyer and the private investigator are pushing the Johnstons to appear on television programs. This flies right into the face of Levi Johnston's claim that he is simply trying to clear his name in the media and that he is not "white trash." Levi can care less about giving his side of the story, he appears on these television shows because his attorney tells him to appear on the television shows. Unless of course, telling his side of the story involves getting an acting gig:

Johnston said he's working odd jobs and hopes to be an electrician. Or perhaps the publicity surrounding his relationship with Bristol will lead to an acting or modeling gig.

Levi Johnston claims that he wants to clear his family of the allegation that they are "white trash," and yet the allegation itself came from his sister's interview with Star Magazine, in which she claims that Bristol Palin called the Johnstons "white trash." Bristol Palin never called Levi or his family that. His own sister aired that. It's as if they created the slur and then presented their media tour as the solution to the slur they created.

All that talk about this not being about publicity is nonsense. This has never been about Levi's son, it is about smearing Governor Palin, which is something Rex Butler himself took part in during the 2008 campaign. Is this Rex Butler or Al Sharpton?:

Blacks don’t have the levels of access to the governor and state commissioners as with past administrations, said attorney Rex Butler, an Alaska resident since 1983. It seems the posture of (Palin’s) administration with Blacks is: Don’t need them—don’t worry about them.

Apparently Butler is doing such a fine job of scheduling the Johnston's media circus that Sherry Johnston, currently awaiting trial for selling drugs, was able to skip out of the state without notifying the prosecutor in the case. This is, of course, a sure sign of innocence.

It should also be noted that Rex Butler is a consistent donor to Democrats.

UPDATE: There is also this interesting comment at the end of Gryphen's "iceberg" post (the one in which he teased his readers about some major scandal that would sink the Palins):

I am also going to put a PayPal button on this site in the next few days. I have resisted doing this for a long time because I just don't like to ask people for money, but information has proven costly and I am going to run out of funds in the near future. If I am going to continue forward I am going to have to be able to pay for access.

The information is "costly"? Is he bribing people? Or is he just trying to make money off of his sordid little smear campaign?

Please note: The Immoral Minority is a Google Blogger site, and he still has "blogspot" in his web address. That means that he has not paid for his domain name (as C4P has. You'll notice that we do not have a "blogspot" in our web address). Blogger does not charge for bandwidth. It's free. In other words, there is no overhead for Gryphen's website. He already has Google ads (which C4P does not), so he is already making money off of his blog. The only reason to have a tip jar is for tips. (We do not have one at C4P, but when we finally move to a WordPress format, we will have to because we will have to pay for bandwidth.)

So, the question remains: Why does he need more money?

I hope Rex knows how many "ethinic" people Palin has put on Commission and Boards lately LMFAO!

VO.. check your email!

Snowed In May 1, 2009 6:05 PM

This is getting monotonous.

It's getting harder and harder to resist the urge to go all scorched-earth on these people.

wisetrog May 1, 2009 6:10 PM

What's that damn iceberg thingy that's got them all excited? *Yawn*

Seriously they should get some sex; lack of it can drive people into conspiracy theorists . I am thinking of distributing free vouchers to night clubs to these crazies.

Lakerfanalways May 1, 2009 6:10 PM

So let me get this straight, since the Johnston family went on Larry King, that is something attiributed to the Palin Family..NOPE, Sarah has NOTHING more to do with these people, if they want to go target someone, target the Johnston family. Sarah has nothing more to do with those idiots. WOW are they desperate or what..they are vile creatures. I wish I could get 5 minutes alone with these bastards, they wouldn't be able to walk for a week

howIroll May 1, 2009 6:14 PM

here's my take on this: IF there was truly some deep, dark, underlying, despicable secret that the Palin family is hiding: 1. it would've been discovered when those 30+ attorneys were air-dropped into Alaska in September (along with the Nat'l. Enquirer), and 2. the Palins would've very quickly settled with Levi and his family (to keep them quiet) after his initial TV appearance.

DB May 1, 2009 6:15 PM

These people are pathetic. And they claim to be surprised that Bristol doesn't want Levi and his drug dealing mom to take care of Tripp? One of these days, Tripp will grow up. I wonder what he'll think of his dad and paternal grandmother when he does.

Oh, by the way, great job C4P in connecting the dots on this.

TommyReport May 1, 2009 6:16 PM

How come Don Young hasn't been indicted yet...after all, AK Report told us a month ago that he was going to get indicted any day.

portlandon May 1, 2009 6:16 PM

You are right Snowed In. It is hard. However I think the time for scorched earth tactics has come.

It's time to put on the armor and take offense. I am tired of watching the Palins have to play defense so much to these ankle biting Trolling trouble making Haters.

Good wins over Evil. Truth overcomes Lies.

Let's start digging up dirt on Tank, Celtic Diva, etc. and blast it from the mountaintops. I am sure they have their skeletons that they'd hate to have see the light of day.

Let's Roll.

ugafish May 1, 2009 6:18 PM

Gryphen also claims that Rex is now representing Diana Palin. If there are no court filings or public records that reveal this, then how would he know unless it was inside information?

DB May 1, 2009 6:18 PM

Howlroll,
I thought about that too. There has never been a national candidate put under such an intense microscope as Governor Palin. If there was anything, anything remotely substantive, it would have come out during the election. I believe this is why Sarah is so upbeat. She knows there is nothing out there and is amused at all the time and effort being put forth to find something that doesn't exist.

upinak May 1, 2009 6:19 PM

You guys, if you use the same tactics that those who are trying to ruin someone reputation, are you any better then they are?

These people will get theirs one day. That is all you have to know and keep thinking.

TommyReport May 1, 2009 6:20 PM

There would seem to be conflict of interest issues under the rules of professional conduct for Rex Butler if he was representing a member of Palin's family while representing a client with an interest hostile to the Palin family. Butler would need to have obtained a waiver from both parties...

In other news, Palin still a "solid R" according to the Cook Political Report.

snooper May 1, 2009 6:22 PM

I've believed all along that some small fish hoping to get a pat on the head from Obama and Axlerod was behind the dirtball family smear tour.

This is sick and quite frankly Levi and his entire family need help.

wisetrog May 1, 2009 6:24 PM

upinak, you are using the same argument that the progressives are using to bash cons over torture. If we torture al-qaeda terrorists, are we any better than they are? Please, leave this moralistic junk aside and lets toughen up. We're in a war.

Greg May 1, 2009 6:25 PM

These pathetic wretches will grasp at any straw they can, which just shows how desperate they are, but they keep at it so that they can keep cashing a check from Axelrod. Well, I hope Butler and Jones takes millions from Axelrod for their "work," because we know that none of this is haivng any effect what so ever except to make the wide array of pathetic creatures look even more pathetic.

Jenny May 1, 2009 6:26 PM

The Johnston family are a disgrace and this entire fiasco built up by the liberals is disgusting.
I am repulsed at the actions taken out against the Palin family.

These liberal jerks are insane.

upinak May 1, 2009 6:26 PM

sjk.. you are kidding right? LOL you do realize that even homes in Anchorage have "glass" enclosures on their decks.

upinak May 1, 2009 6:28 PM

Wise... really?

I don't think so. But then you can tell me how it is progressive? I am already dealing with some people concerning changing the ethics regulations...

I am not fighting dirty, I am doing the opposite and it is scaring the heck out of people. Trust me!

wisetrog May 1, 2009 6:31 PM

"Progressive" is not an attributive adjective meaning enabling progress. It's a code word for a certain ideology, a certain outlook and I'd say, in America, a certain culture, the culture of copperheads and muckrakers.

bestbud May 1, 2009 6:33 PM

This is all sick, sick ,sick as usual..

I agree we do not want to revert to the same scorched earth tactics but I sure want to be informed of any and all things we need to unanimously hop on at any given time to support Sarah..

C4P is my first site every day and appreciate the editors providing live up to date information and us Barbarians banding together..

Love a quality and spirited FIGHT for such a great Lady as Sarah...

upinak May 1, 2009 6:34 PM

Wise I know what a progressive is, and sorry but I am far from it.

Lakerfanalways May 1, 2009 6:36 PM

People, just follow the money and you will see who are paying these people..Axelrod and Soros. Obama thinks about Sarah everyday, he knows his days are numbered and he is scared to death that she might be able to beat him so what does he do, he finds low lives who are obviously mentally ill and pay them off

DanO May 1, 2009 6:38 PM

hey sjk, it was TONY REZKO who built the Palin"s house, to the design specs of WILLIAM AYERS. When the work was done, the house was blessed by JEREMIAH WRIGHT. RASHID KHALIDI stopped by for the housewarming, along with ILLEGAL AUNTI ZEITUNI and imfamous child-rapist halfbro SAMPSON OBAMA. But hey, what have YOU got???

There is no point in arguing with these people. They are holding out hope that some miracle bombshell will show up and make the scary lady go away. It has never happened, if it was going to it would have last fall.

ugafish May 1, 2009 6:41 PM

Eddie Burke is reading this on the air.

wisetrog May 1, 2009 6:42 PM

upinak, I am not saying you are a progressive. I am saying you are using an argument that's suspiciously similar to "are we any better than them?" argument used by progressives to stymie us in our tracks.

uga, I missed some of it. What did they say? Had the radio off.

portlandon May 1, 2009 6:46 PM

Lakersfanalways,

I know O'Bama thinks of Palin every day. She really gets into his head. Have you noticed that he has almost never uttered her name in public, or in an interview? I don't think she scared him, I think she just drives him crazy. He can't stand that someone might be loved more than him.

Also on a side note....I hope the Lakers beat the snot out of Houston 4-0 in the series. Houston beat my beloved Blazers =(

ugafish May 1, 2009 6:48 PM

upinak,
He read the first part of this post on the air, then he got into an argument about Sarah and the ethics complaints with 2 libs in the studio. After the break Eddie is going to reveal what he's going to do about the ethics complaints.

wisetrog May 1, 2009 6:49 PM

upinak, you seem to be determined to be as obtuse as possible.

I never said you are using a "playbook". Huh? When you say we shouldn't be using ankle-biting tactics against Celtic Diva n others because "if you use the same tactics that those who are trying to ruin someone reputation, are you any better then they are?"

I am saying that theory is very much like the progressive moral theory used to stymie us.

I think we should give be these ankle-biters a taste of their own medicine. If they come after our guys, we should be going after them and theirs. Raise muck against their families, hurt them where it hurts most. Tit for tat. Eye for an eye. Simple, basic, old-testament justice.

wisetrog May 1, 2009 6:51 PM

wisetrog May 1, 2009 6:55 PM

Lipstick May 1, 2009 6:56 PM

Tick tock, tick tock...

These people put this tripe out every so often to get a little bit of press. They need 15 more minutes of attention.

No one has been grilled and put under a microscope like Sarah Palin. Only the Pope himself could under go the type of dirt digging and still have absolutely nothing come out that is bad.

This is just a way of yanking all our chains.

Yea, they might make up another bogus ethics charge but I really think that as the charges get more stupid the Alaskan people will put a stop to this stuff.

I am not saying Sarah is a nun or anything, but if there were any dirt worth digging up on her it would have been dug up a long time ago.

Everyone just take a deep breath. As long as Sarah is making them wet their pants they will come out with this stuff every so often.

snooper May 1, 2009 7:00 PM

Oh so Meg runs this place, for some reason I just assumed it was Dick Cheney and Karl Rove.

MLWELZ May 1, 2009 7:00 PM

Very good write up. time to expose these palin haters.

juju May 1, 2009 7:03 PM

On several occasions I have told you all how I smackdown negative comments about Sarah on the Lib blogs and Huffington Post before I was banned.

"If Hillary Clinton could run for Pres. of USA (not vp, but the big prize) after her hubby a 50+ year old was having sex with a 20+ year old in the White House and later become OBAMA's Sect'y of State" Then nothing they find or say about Sarah is going to stick as long as we all keep fighting for her and keep reminding them of Hillary.

The above comments I make on other blogs is really not something I like to do, but you sometimes have to remind these type of people that we have some fire power too.

AKReport May 1, 2009 7:04 PM

yes juju this is true.

Mel May 1, 2009 7:08 PM

It's really awesome to watch C4P gaining so much recognition - people all over the nation are coming here for the truth, and the facts about Gov. Palin. As we all know, you can't really find the truth in many other places.

As far as I'm concerned, C4P is gaining respect as the utmost authority on Sarah.

I'm proud to be an avid reader (and soon to be avid commenter) of C4P!

THIS BLOG IS AWESOME AWESOME. So good job, R.A., Joseph, et. al!

I'm proud to stand strong for Sarah with you guys!

Hmmm, I wonder what would Tiger Woods do in this situation?

"Tank was the man who graciously answered my questions about Levi and let me know, and therefore all of you, that he was safe.[...]

so do not worry that I am in any danger"

What the fuck is wrong with this guy? Is he worried about Sarah's secret army of ninja assassins?

The sad part is that people actually take this goofy bastard seriously...

Lakerfanalways May 1, 2009 7:15 PM

It will never cease to amuse me how often these idiots declare things like "this will sink the Palin ship" or "stick a fork in her, she's done!"

Your desperation is showing.

I wonder what they're going to try to dredge up from the Diana Palin thing. Maybe that's the iceberg? I dunno. To be honest it's kind of funny until you realize that these are actual people with actual lives and actual brain privileges.

Toki May 1, 2009 7:28 PM

I think it's time to unleash the dreaded Foot Clan on these fools.

Lakerfanalways May 1, 2009 7:30 PM

beehive,
I suggest everyone who lives in Alaska file a complaint against Celtic Diva, Andree MacLeod and all the other idiots. Beat them at their own damn game!! Now this might sound like a stupid question so please forgive me..what is a FOIA?

upinak May 1, 2009 7:33 PM

Laker it is a Freedom of Information Act.

But you can't do a FOIA on private citizens. Only Govermnet Agencies and Large Corps... depending.

ugafish May 1, 2009 7:34 PM

I think he's filing a FOIA with the state to get all the communications that took place with Mcleod and state officials.

portlandon May 1, 2009 7:36 PM

People in Alaska should be filing complaints about Everything against Celtic Diva & the Rest.

Even petty stupid things like junk cars around the property, loud music, real nit picky stuff just to stick it to them a little. Have their cars towed if parked on private property. Dig into their tax records. Dig into possible fraudulant disability claims. What did Celtic Diva claim on her taxes? She is not a private citizen, she is acting in part of a political group. You can't tell me these vermin don't leave a trail of trouble WHEREVER they go. No family stuff though. Kids should be left alone.

section9 May 1, 2009 7:36 PM

Back in the Nineties, the Clintons would use Joe Pellecano to do private investigations and muscle work on political opponents. I suspect that a variation of the same tactic is being used here, with our P.I. friend, Mr. Jones, who happens to be working with Rex Butler, of the Alaska Bar.

These people are, I will betcha, being used as cutouts by our friends at the DNC's Opposition Research Unit.

Why would people invest thousands of dollars in Levi and the Johnstons? It makes no sense, unless you're David Axelrod and you want to blow smoke in the air.

There will be more to come. Larry Flynt, of Hustler fame, was a reliable friend of the Clintons during the Nineties and was also used as a cutout. I expect something similar to be used against Palin.

upinak May 1, 2009 7:37 PM

uga, That is going to be tricky and will take a while.

JohnDoeAt30Below May 1, 2009 7:40 PM

Lakerfan, there's not much that can be done about McLeod and the rest. They are just taking advantage of the system.

Remember the old line about wrestling with a pig: You just get dirty and the pig likes it.

Truth May 1, 2009 7:40 PM

When I read Gryphen's Paypal announcement where he said he has to be able to "pay for access," I thought he meant paying for his blog fees. I don't have a blog, but don't you have to pay the blog company for the space? Also, I have noticed that whenever Gryphen says that something is true, he backs it up with a link to prove its truth. Just a thought.

portlandon May 1, 2009 7:44 PM

"The information is "costly"? Is he bribing people? Or is he just trying to make money off of his sordid little smear campaign?"

I think this fool is trying to get his own Bailout. He is a fraud.

howIroll May 1, 2009 7:45 PM

Mr. Butler is a member of the Alaska Bar. I am not familiar with that bar, but in general, state bars have the most stringent ethics rules in the state. Working with a private investigator is tricky for an attorney; attorneys are given privileged information, and that privilege does not extend beyond their immediate employees (not private contractors). In any event, if he is advising Levi to "take his story to the media," that in itself could be an ethics violation (it would be in my state). Anyone familiar with the Alaska Bar Code of Ethics ought to check into it.

Lakerfanalways May 1, 2009 7:46 PM

section9,
It's simple. These ethics complaints have gone NO WHERE and fast..so they are going back to the Johnston family to dig up dirt, anything..they are desperate..I mean really, what Sarah and her family do in her OWN home is NONE of our business..seriously..my Governor is the worst pile of crap EVER..he has so much stuff in his closet he would need a Public Storage to keep it all yet no one here cares. All these idiots are doing are preventing Sarah from running her state. They have NO idea how blessed they are to have a Governor who is doing a damn good job..they show her NO respect..I will gladly take her off Alaska's hands if you guys want..believe me, I have seen numerous bumper stickers here with the slogan "Hey Alaska, can we trade Governors" Time to fight back against the bastards who are smearing this wonderful woman..fight fire with fire. When Libs get dished the same crap they dish out, they run with their tales between their legs

Lakerfanalways May 1, 2009 7:48 PM

The idiot has NOTHING..they had lawyers, they had reporters, they had the whole freakin planet go up to Alaska during the campaign and found NOTHING except Troopergate which everyone knew about. No one gives a damn about these bastards anymore. There is a cold place in hell for all of them

ugafish May 1, 2009 7:48 PM

"Also, I have noticed that whenever Gryphen says that something is true, he backs it up with a link to prove its truth."

lol This one's too easy.

The Aged P May 1, 2009 7:49 PM

What I find puzzling is that the Governor still seems to be popular in her state and I assume that the Cook Report must be a serious outfit - it must have data to say she is solid rather than using seaweed. So where is her party organisation in all this - are there lots of upinaks defending her publicly? Or maybe she is popular because she seems to be outside the state political system, the Alaska equivalent of the Beltway. Do many Alaskans despise the system? Upinak can you advise a foreigner about this? Sometimes it seems that she is there out on her own with only Meg and Bill by her side. What is her relationship with Parnell? And does she have a good working relationship with some Democrats?

sarah palin rocks May 1, 2009 7:51 PM

juju:

You're right about the Clintons. They had numerous scandals including Paula Jones, Gennifer Flowers and rumors of other women Bill harassed or had affairs with.

There were scandals with Hillary's law firm, the huge suspicious profits she made on the stock market, tampering with FBI files, etc.

All the scandals never stopped Bill or Hillary because most people look beyond such sensational tabloid fodder. People judge you on your merits and talent at the end of the day.

The Kennedys also have achieved great success despite a number of scandals. As for Obama, we know he has skeletons too. Whom among us is free from having skeletons in our closet?

Nothing will sink Sarah if she can show people that she is smart, competent and capable.

Lakerfanalways May 1, 2009 7:53 PM

Hmmm, well what took them so long with this supposed info..they had since August 28th with this info and never released it..gotta love fabricated info..why did he wait til now with this earth shattering info that will "sink" her..the Johnstons are just upset that the Palins won't allow their drug infested family to see that beautiful baby

JohnDoeAt30Below May 1, 2009 7:53 PM

Consider this: If Gryphen or anyone else had any truly damaging information, it wouldn't be leaked out on some obscure website in Alaska. The big hitters would be all over it.

Also, notice that Gryphen says that Sherry Johnston's arrest was "politically motivated," implying that Palin was behind. Yes, that is really fine line of reasoning there, having Levi's mom arrested for selling drugs has really been a benefit for Governor Palin.

wisetrog May 1, 2009 7:55 PM

sarah palin rocks, kennedys, clintons and obama are Democrats. Enough said.

Lakerfanalways May 1, 2009 7:55 PM

JohnDoeAt30Below,
HAHA yeah your right..and Sarah must have planted the drugs they found in Sherry's house too..that diabolical fiend LOL

howIroll May 1, 2009 7:57 PM

JohnDoe....exactly. Like having her grandson's other grandmother arrested for dealing drugs is really going to benefit her. That shows you how looney these folks are.

JohnDoeAt30Below May 1, 2009 7:58 PM

I _think_ Sherry met undercover agents in the Walmart parking lot with 15 or 20 hits of Oxy. She was framed!

ugafish May 1, 2009 8:04 PM

Here's what Gryphen said about "the iceberg":

"Please don't bother asking me because trust me, when it can be told it will be told. Until then I will provide any new information that I come across that will not interfere in Levi's book deal or cause his family any distress."

So he's saying the information he thinks he has cannot be revealed, because it might diminish the value of Levi's potential book deal. Rex could be using him as a pawn, or Gryphen could be making all this up to make money.

beehive May 1, 2009 8:06 PM

JohnDoeAt30Below May 1, 2009 8:07 PM

Between his book and Meghan McCain's, well, I am just thrilled!

Governor Signs House Bill

May 1, 2009, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin today signed legislation authorizing birth certificates for stillbirths. House Bill 2, sponsored by Representative Carl Gatto, allows the Bureau of Vital Statistics to issue certificates for stillborn babies at the request of the parents. HB 2 passed the House 29-1, Senate 18-1.

"This is beautiful because this can surely help a grieving family after losing a child,” Governor Palin said. “I'm thankful that Alaska's legislature recognizes how important a step like this is as Alaska embraces a culture of life and respects precious babies, including babies stillborn, but still loved by their families. Alaskans respect this sanctity of life and I appreciate Representative Gatto's efforts."

“HB 2 gives recognition that the mom of a stillborn child indeed had a birth and now will be able to request and receive a birth certificate stating that ‘yes, you delivered a precious child,’” Representative Gatto said. “Unbelievably, there are mothers who have been waiting 20 years to receive recognition that their child was born. Those moms who delivered a stillborn child left the hospital with nothing more than a death certificate and no acknowledgment that a birth actually took place. At the time of delivery, their child was no less loved.”

Approximately 50 stillbirths occur each year in Alaska.

this is such BS concidering Levi.

Bosk May 1, 2009 8:17 PM

Go after them hard and fast, show no mercy for they deserve non. A scorched earth policy is the only way to deal with these freaks.

sarah palin rocks May 1, 2009 8:18 PM

Well, if Levi does come out with a book trashing Sarah or Bristol then he will look like a lying, traitorous, jackass. On every interview he appeared on, including Larry King, he only had praise for Sarah and Todd. He kept talking about how Sarah was real good to him and was like a "second mom."

He didn't really shed much light on Bristol except to say she didn't get along with his sister and Bristol had mood swings after she had the baby.

If he changes his tune and comes out with smears now, he will have no credibility. It will look like he's just making stuff up to sell his book. Mama Grizzly will have to take the gloves off - I will back her on this 110%!

Levi is already on thin ice with many in the public because most people don't think highly of people who "kiss and tell." Although, quite a few of us will read the tabloids.

I do once in a while - its a guilty pleasure and I know most of it is bogus. If I had a dollar for everytime I saw a story saying Angelina and Brad are over, I'd be a very rich person!

Lakerfanalways May 1, 2009 8:26 PM

What did the idiot Rex say on the Eddie Burke show? Did he release any earth shattering info, like Sarah bought a horse then ate the horse in the presence of her children. Ya know, when I hear stuff like this, I sometimes think that this country doesn't deserve to have Sarah as President, we have too many evil people in this world, people who have NOTHING but contempt for what is good in this world. It is really sad what we have become..it is good against evil..Sarah is what is good and these leftists are what is evil..as far as Levi Johnston goes, the fact that he is even writing a book that will smear the Palin family just shows what a piece of crap he really is. They treated him like a son, they loved him, and treated him with RESPECT..and this is how he repays them, by smearing them in a book, and for what, to make money..what a disgusting pile of puke he is..it just proves that any idiot can give his sperm to make a baby but it takes a MAN to be a FATHER..something that Levi will NEVER be because he is too damn stupid to know the meaning of the word

sarah palin rocks May 1, 2009 8:28 PM

Speaking of Twitter, I posted this on the Open Thread earlier:

"OMG! Did you guys hear that the White House announced that it is going on Twitter and Facebook today!

Imagine that, only two days after Sarah joined Twitter. It could just be a coincidence. ;D

This reminds me of the time during the campaign when Sarah wore jeans because of all the wardrobe controversy. There was Obama in jeans on the campaign trail the next day (not his typical campaign duds)! "

Seriously, my mouth dropped open when I heard this news over the radio. I often think people are exaggerating when they say Axelrod and Obama are nefariously plotting against Sarah in the White House War Room. But this news can make you go hmmmmm....

You'd think Obama and Axelrod have their hands full with taking over banks and car companies, spending our money hand over fist, palling around with cruel dictators, targeting Rush and other conservatives, bagging on the Tea Parties, etc. Not to mention the swine flu.

upinak May 1, 2009 8:29 PM

Laker, no he was pretty centrist concerning Levi. But Rex said that Levi is not getting any money for any MSM or Talk show, which I doubt.

MarvinM May 1, 2009 8:32 PM

"There is no overhead for Blogger sites"

Well, most, and not directly. But I think what Gryphon was talking about as far as expenses could easily be lots of long-distance phone calls, and even more probably, there are several specialized online databases (there's a common legal one whose name eludes me) that are subscription only - and those subscriptions are often not less than annually and at costs of $750-$1000.

And what's wrong with him asking the consumers of his product to pitch in a little to help him continue to provide them their entertainment? And leave the fact that you don't happen to like the content out of it. I don't like Country music, but if other people want to spend their money on it, hey, it's a free country.

Anyway, I'm sure Gryphon knows he has to declare anything coming in as income, but then, that might be offset by the expense outlays involved in his blogging. It's pretty straighforward - people do it all the time, all perfectly IRS-legal.

ugafish May 1, 2009 8:34 PM

Rex was angry that Bristol's lawyer sent a letter directly to Levi. He called the lawyer a "henchman". He also said Levi turned down money from the National Enquirer, and he said he wasn't digging up dirt on the Palins. He said they were going to keep it classy. lol

Levi should be man enough to stand up and take care of his family, work hard and be a father, but no , he has to be a newsreel and carry gossip. As far as Sarah, I hope the Dimwits find something better to do like:
fix the economy
watch after north korea
see what the swine flu is going to go

Bottom line, TOTUS is going to miss his teleprompter when Sarah takes the Pres on 1/29/2013

snooper May 1, 2009 8:44 PM

Well we have no reason to think they wouldn't keep it classy right. I mean so far Levi has talked about his sex life with Bristol on national television, claimed Sarah was letting them "do it", called the Palin's liars, openly mused about getting acting and modeling gigs out of this and then the coup de grace came when we found out they pretty much lied to the judge in order for crack ho momma to go on the "trash my babby momma's family tour".

Very classy so far.

Gary May 1, 2009 9:13 PM

Guys, this is a very coordinated effort, and there is a hell of a lot more to it.

This goes all of the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

http://thespeechatimeforchoosing.blogspot.com/2009/04/with-sarah-palin-barack-obama-shows-rod.html

Here's what EVERY conservative needs to know, and understand.

The left all LOVE the works of Saul Alinsky, the "father of community organizing" and a communist thug whose entire life was devoted to destroying America.

Now even though Alinsky was from Chicago, Obama never got to hear him lectures at the college. (Aren't all professors highly un-American?) But Hillary actually attended his classes, as did Obama's mentor in Hawaii, communist, Black Panther, and pedophile, Frank Marshal Davis.

Anyhow, and this is the part where conservatives need to wise up, Alinsky wrote "Rules For Radicals", the bible for community organizing thuggery.

Trust me, every left wing media loser, and candidate knows Alinsky's work well.

Ask yourself this: Why have they concentrated on filing dozens of bullshit "ethics complaints" against Sarah?

Now ask yourself what is one of Sarah's greatest accomplishments?

That's right, ethics reform!

These filthy sub-human liberals are using rule #4 on Sarah. They are trying to make it look like she has a "bunch" of ethics issues, thus negate one of her best selling points.

Every conservative needs to know and UNDERSTAND Alinsky's "Rules".

I see there is a conversation going back and forth between using these tactics against them, or "not lowering ourselves".

Well, the very problem with the GOP is we have "not been lowering ourselves" for 50 YEARS!

How else do you explain the fact that the democrat party, which founded the White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan after the Civil War, as a domestic terrorist unit, to destroy the Republican party (and the American government)is able to get away with calling Republicans racist, and make stupid people believe it?

I mean seriously, as a conservative, how many times are you compared to a Nazi, or the KKK?

Never mind the democrats' longest serving member in the Senate was a Klegal (recruiter) for the KKK after WWII, and became a Grand Exalted Cyclops! (high ranking leader)I'm speaking of course, of Robert Byrd of WV.

Had republicans not been "trying to be better than them", they would have NEVER gotten away with this.

Democrats are the racist filth, as well a the Nazis! After all, the Nazi party was socialist.

Hitler also nationalized the banks, and took over the car companies, as well.

But where are the conservatives?

Frankly, if it was up to me, there would be some serious physical confrontation involved in all of this. But if anyone thinks that we should be "better than them" or "above all of it" they are sadly mistaken.

Folks, this is all out war, for real. These filthy liberals are playing for keeps.

They mean to destroy Sarah Palin, that's for damned sure, but they also mean to destroy America, as we know it.

The older liberals have waited for a lifetime for this opportunity to flush the Constitution down the toilet, and turn this into a communist state.

They've never had a better chance than with this raised from birth as a communist, Obama.

Left wing whack job communists have been college professors for decades, and have primed a generation of kids to think America sucks, as it is, and communism is where it's at!

These people will not go quietly into the night.

This is the fight of our lives, if we want to see America stay America, we must take these people DOWN!

hrh May 1, 2009 9:42 PM

Joy brought up Levi's Larry interview, they had some back and forth, and Joy!!!! said don't you think they should just get married and raise the baby?

She asked if Palin was the best the Republicans had. Ann said no, then quickly corrected herself and said she wasn't saying no about her, but there are a lot of good Repubs and we'll just have to see what happens.

That's when she talked about Sarah not coming back right away but being a good Governor and coming back in 8 or 12 years.

Joy also brought up and they showed on screen and Joy read a bit of!!! Ann's column in this week's Time Top 100 about the good gov, and Ann also referenced the article she wrote for Palin being Human Events' Conservative of the Year - so that got a mention, too.

Overall, a pretty positive - for CNN and Joy Behar - piece on Sarah.

C4P gets another shoutout from HotAir. Good job, folks.

juju May 1, 2009 10:04 PM

Maybe...now I know this sounds too simple..but, Maybe, the BIG story is going to be that Levi sues Bristol for custody of the baby. Why would Bristol's attorney be sending Levi a letter?? (Bristol's attorney maybe didn't know that Levi had an OFFICIAL attorney and that is why he sent a letter directly to Levi). That always pisses attorney's off.

Now, most of us know that if there is a custody fight there is no way Levi would get custody. However, it could be more press coverage of Sarah and Todd. And, desperate people try desperate things even though this probably wouldn't amount to much.

Bristol would probably grant Levi limited visitation rights since his mother is accused of selling drugs and Bristol is probably still nursing. Maybe she has agreed to that instead of trying to fight it in court.

Lakerfanalways May 1, 2009 10:08 PM

JuJu, that's all it is..it's posturing by the lawyer for Levi to try to get visitation of Tripp. All this is is gonna be a custody battle, that is all, a typical custody battle, except it will be Sarah Palin's daughter involved in the custody battle..No way will ANY judge give custody of a baby to a guy who goes on TV to parade his intimate life with his ex-girlfriend, and has a drug addicted mother, the Palin's have a strong family unit, with awesome grandparents, and a stable home life with everything that baby will need to grow up happy and healthy

narciso May 1, 2009 10:12 PM

That's I meant to say, wisetrog, about the urgency of the matter. I don't know how Anne can be so cavalier about what we face. And how can she follow Romney, seeing how she is brutal with flipfloppers
and seeing how even in the lasTime piece she speaks so highly of her. Is there just a touch of jealousy involved.By the way been following on twitter. It seems melodramatic but it really isn't if one is a student of history and politics, specially Latin American, and Russian ones. I'd been readingabout
Czarist Russia and the Caucasus since the Georgian conflict, including some Tolstoy, Lermontov & but that character sketch by Richard Pipes of Lenin, really was like a thunderclasp of lightning, and I'm still stuck halfway through
Atlas Shrugged, from which I've mined some insights, particularly about Dagny Taggart and the Media.
Like Lakerfan, I have sometimes thought she is too good for this country, atleast a large part of the 52% that let themselves be bamboozled, into voting for Obama. But this latest gambit by Butler and Gryphen only reinforces my conviction that she would be the only one, who could bring back some kind of sanity to this country. The NRSC doesn't have a clue, the RNC maybe a little more so. There are sign of hope, despite everything Rasmussen has the House Republicans ahead twice in the last three months

wisetrog May 1, 2009 10:14 PM

If there's a protracted custody battle, do you know how salaciously MSM will report every bit of it and add in Sarah's done line in every para?

wisetrog May 1, 2009 10:18 PM

narciso, give Ann some credit, she didn't go on bashing Sarah like Parker, Schlussel and other conservative women who fell in love with Romney. She knows Sarah is a real value to the movement.

But among the gop there's a strong streak of next in line argument and they all think Romney is the next in line while Sarah can wait. I don't know how he did it but he's charmed all the elites.

Ann loves her Mittens and thinks he's the man America requires right now. Sarah can wait.

Lakerfanalways May 1, 2009 10:30 PM

Mittens, the same guy that couldn't even beat McCain, no wonder the GOP is going no where. Sorry, I am not a fan of Romney or his policies. If he runs in 2012(and Sarah decides to wait til 2016) Obama will win easily..sorry to say but it's fact. I go on FreeRepublic, they hate Romney over there, call him a RINO..let Romney and Huckabee run and the GOP will lose and look like idiots for not rallying around Sarah. Just look what they are trying to do to Jindal, trying to make him one of them, it failed and failed miserably. Jindal, Sanford, and Palin, those are the three futures of the Republican party, and oh yeah, Michelle Bachmann too, I just ADORE her

So why is Bob Poe following the Diva's tweets? It would be interesting to know if any of the other 13 people he follows are linked to the lefty Alaska blogs attacking Palin.

Nat Hound May 1, 2009 10:34 PM

Love Ann, but she's dead wrong on this one. It's amazing to me how similar the current scenario is to the GOP of the late 70's.

Check out Craig Shirley's "Reagan's Revolution" for the inside story of the 76 Reagan campaign. (The sequel to this book, about the 80 campaign, comes out in August.)

Romney is George H.W. Bush, the establishment's choice, the man whose turn was due.

Sarah is, you guessed it, the Gipper, the irrepressible force that could not be contained.

We all know who Obama is...

It's Romney who will have to wait until 2020, not Sarah.

Romney couldn't beat the third-rate intellects that were running McCain's campaign. Do we really want to send him up against a bunch of assasins like Axelrod and Emanuel? They'd make a snack of him...

Come 2012, Akanitsa will be battle hardened and ready for revenge.

Al B. May 1, 2009 10:42 PM

Lakerfanalways --

IMO, there is only one future of the Republican party, and it's Sarah Palin.

Bobby Jindal is a great guy but looks like another big-government Republican to me. If he can prove himself in the coming LA budget battles, maybe I'll change my mind. His propensity to grow government bothers me a lot. I admit not all the evidence is in on him.

Sanford is not a leader but his main problem is that this country is not going to elect another Southern governor in 2012.

2012 is Romney v. Gingrich unless Sarah jumps in. I don't think the country can afford to wait on her. There may be nothing left to save.

JMO.

Jenny May 1, 2009 10:45 PM

I agree Nat Hound, Sarah is ready for 2012. Ann is absolutely wrong on this. Anyone can beat Obama if they can talk. Sarah is the real deal. The base is energized for her. I don't see anyone energized for Romney. Sarah is a quick learner if there are any deficiencies, which I don't think.
Romney has been sympathetic to the elites, and that's not a group I like.

ugafish May 1, 2009 10:45 PM

Lipstick May 1, 2009 10:48 PM

Good grief people!

Levi suing for custody of the baby?

That is a total waste of money. He may be suing for visitation rights but not custody. Even at that if the Palin's have a good lawyer they should be able to have it where Levi cannot take the baby to his house. Yea, the house where the cops had to search it and found drugs in it.

I don't know what things are like in Alaska but in Texas ,fair or not, a woman would have to try to eat her young before the courts would award custody to the father. Especially one that had no job, no place to live except his mom's house who had been charged with selling drugs out of it.

Come on, this is just a bunch of hog wash.

HC May 1, 2009 10:54 PM

The Repubs are going to implode. Sarah is smart to stay above the fray and out of the tug of war that is occurring within the GOP.

Patience and perseverance are the two key words. Don't rush in and don't give up.

Nat Hound May 1, 2009 10:57 PM

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Sherri and Mercede Johnston are dangerous people. Why? They have absolutely nothing to lose...

With that being said, they don't have a leg to stand on in a visitation/custody case. No judge in his or her right mind is going to allow the governor's grandson to for unsupervised visits to a house that was being used for the sale of drugs.

Aint. Gonna. Happen.

And no amount of dirt that those bottom-feeders dredge up is going to change that...

Lipstick May 1, 2009 11:01 PM

Nat Hound:

Well said.

No way a judge would do that. Period!

Just a shame the Palin's may have to spend money on this deal.

Lakerfanalways May 1, 2009 11:01 PM

I've said this once and I will say it again, whenever Sarah decides to run for President I will walk over hot coals to get her elected. I will campaign for her, raise money for her, fly to Alaska and be her campaign manager(Hey I can dream can't I)..Sarah is the FUTURE of America. Everywhere she goes, people talk, every move she makes, gets press coverage..she goes to Indiana, people start chanting 2012 2012..she goes into an airport in Seattle, she gets 20 people to stand around her chanting 2012 2012..Conservatives adore her, big wigs hate her(just know when big wigs hate ya, its a good thing) and leftists crap their pants when they hear her name..why, because if a powerful, smart, attractive, Conservative woman ever got into the White House, it would blow their minds away, their whole ideology would be done

ugafish May 1, 2009 11:01 PM

I doubt the "iceberg" these loons are referring is a custody battle. Gryphen is a deranged truther who is on a mission to destroy Sarah. Just read some of the statements above to see the lengths he's willing to go to. Here's one example of what he wrote:

"So now I am going to have to go and visit Mr. Butlers office and find out if he needs any financial help. He is a lawyer so I am going to assume the answer is "yes". If it is then I am going to get some help setting up a paypal account and we will see if we cannot get Levi all of the help he needs to see his little boy.

And who knows he may be so grateful that he would be willing to talk to a certain Alaska blogger about some lingering questions surrounding the birth of Tripp, and little TriggyBear."

I hope Sarah has adequate security, because these people are truly sick.

M. Minnesota May 1, 2009 11:02 PM

I'm a Trilloin% for Palin, but was one of the reasons Rommney could not beat Mccain was because of open primaries? Where liberals may have come in and voted for Mccain?

If that is the truth, then the conservative grassroots has it's work cut out for them!Possibly get some closed primaries. We can't let them do this to Gov. Palin!!! Minnesota was one of the states that went for Rommney because he was viewed as the more "Conservative" of the two.

Nat Hound May 1, 2009 11:03 PM

HC, for better or worse, Sarah personifies the tug of war within the Republican party.

Frankly, since the Republicans are big on "turns" and all, I think it would be mighty kind of the elites if they realized the GOP has been running moderates since 1988 and maybe it's time to give the conservatives a shot. After all, it will be 28 years since the last conservative to run for the WH in the general.

We know what happens if you run a squish against Obama. YOU LOSE ROYALLY. What would it hurt to give conservatism a try?

It worked just fine for the Gipper...

Nat Hound May 1, 2009 11:09 PM

Minnesota:

Closing the primaries should be job #1 for Steele.

However, Romney knew what the set-up was going to be going in. His people got outmanuevered by Steve Freaking Schmidt.

If Romney were smart, he'd swallow his pride and jump on the Sarah bandwagon. I'd think he'd find that he could command the highest places of honor...

Ceejay May 1, 2009 11:23 PM

Question, if Levi really had anything on the Palins wouldn't you think the left would have paid him off for that information? Why wait for information for that (if any dirt) to come out, why not now...just thinking....

howIroll May 1, 2009 11:33 PM

uga, after looking at this guy's blog, I'd say you're correct. The tagline following his "iceburg" which cannot yet be revealed (and why pray-tell?), is "babygate." He does seem to be one of the primary Truthers. If he thinks he has anything, it'd better be more solid than a letter from the doctor who delivered Trig!

Let's not lose sight of something (and I don't mean you in particular.) These people, while possessing the possibility of making huge messes for Sarah to have to clean up, are losers.

Every last one of them, losers. Just look at them. (With the exception of Shannyn Moore, who's kinda cute.)

The big-time Dems in DC would have nothing to do with them, but for the fact they can make Sarah's life a little uncomfortable between now and 2012. So they get their access and a pat on the head from Lord Axelrod, and maybe one of their shots in the dark comes close. But they are a joke to even their patrons in the White House.

Progressivism is a loser ideology, by losers for losers. We know it and they know it.

TommyReport May 2, 2009 12:09 AM

I am a little curious as to what Techno said that got some heat, heh heh.

If the Larry King ratings for Levi's interview don't tell the media something, then it's pretty clear that their goal is not to do well with the ratings but rather to hit Sarah Palin.

ugafish May 2, 2009 12:17 AM

Nat,
I agree with you, but we still have to shine the light on these fools every once in a while.

sarah palin rocks May 2, 2009 12:28 AM

Well, like my friends say, "So what?"

Even if Trig were Bristol's and let's say Sarah wanted to cover up for her. Families have been doing that to protect young unwed mothers for centuries.

That would just prove that Sarah was acting as a loving mother who wanted protect her young daughter's reputation.

Public figures have been forgiven even when they have done something really wrong or illegal. Remember Mr. "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"? Yes, I know he's a Democrat.

McCain is an example of a Republican who has been forgiven for many transgressions in his past (cheating numerous times on his first wife, being involved in Keating scandal, etc.). Bush 43 also was a Republican with a scandalous past that people chose to overlook.

So these people are wasting their time with this Trig Truther stuff. It is not going to matter to most voters at the end of the day IMO.

Nat Hound May 2, 2009 12:38 AM

spr:

She'd be finished if Trig Trutherism were true. It would certainly be one of the weirest episodes in modern US political history.

But it's demonstrably not true, so who cares? Did everyone forget they cribbed (ha!) the damn idea from a 2007 episode of "Desperate Housewives?" Or do they expect us to believe someone skilled enough to be elected governor of a state would try something she saw on television FOR NO APPARENT BENEFIT?

Idiots.

NO TRIG TRUTHER CRAP ON THIS BLOG.

Have you people forgotten her Evansville speech so soon? Do you not understand why she kept the news of her pregnancy to herself?

STOP WITH THIS NONSENSE.

These Trig Truthers are crazy. They are not playing with a full deck. You do not need to even indulge such thoughts. In fact, I would ask you to delete your comments about that. It's totally offensive. Put yourself in the shoes of the Heaths and the Palins. Imagine how outraged they must be by this sick crap.

ugafish May 2, 2009 12:57 AM

spr,
That's not the way to look at it. These people aren't interested in the truth. We know that Sarah is Trigg's mother, but these people are in too deep to care. They are consumed by their obsession, and they need to justify the endless amount of time and effort they've put into this garbage. They are not limited by facts, ethics, and common decency in their quest of destruction. They will go to any length to get a headline, even if that means invovling innocent children in their sick games. We shouldn't focus all our energy on this stuff, but I think we should be aware of their tactics.

narciso May 2, 2009 1:10 AM

Seriously SPR what even made you entertain such a notion, that's tantamount to excommunication around here, see how insidious this crap is; how toxic this whole thread is. I know it's late at night or early in the morning as the case may be.

She is the most genuine public servant to appear in a generation, all of her responses are genuine. She can't hide the way she feels about her family, her state or the fate of her nation. It's funny how no matter how much proof there is to the contrary some rumors still persist - Clintons and the late Vince Foster or 9/11 being US gov't plot.

That's why you can't worry about such rumors.

I don't believe the Trig Truthers - I was just pointing out how utterly stupid and pointless these Truthers efforts were. If you recall, they, Andrew Sullivan and the MSM thought it would sink her when she first came on the scene. I'm just pointing that most people don't care about that stuff when deciding who to vote for.

I know Sarah is the mother of Trig. I have been a fan of hers for a long time - way before McCain chose her. I remember when she had Trig last year.

Like RAM says, who cares what these nutjobs think? They'll just keep spinning their crazy stories just like the 9/11 truthers. I don't believe the US gov't orchestrated 9/11 either - just for the record.

By the way,

Here's a slide-show from the Kodiak event...

http://www.alaskajournal.com/Flash/042909_comfish/index.shtml

In some good news for Governor Palin, oil creeped up back to $53/barrel....I think that's the highest it's been since last year.

ugafish May 2, 2009 1:42 AM

You know you're a Palin supporter when you hope the price of oil goes up. lol

TommyReport May 2, 2009 1:45 AM

Uga,

In all honesty, I'm not doing just hoping for it for her sake.

Obama and Chu have flatly stated that they want higher oil prices so that Americans will adjust their lifestyles. Since Americans voted them in with that knowledge, I just think we should get what we voted for...and part of what we voted for is higher oil prices. It'll give Americans a clear idea as to what's it like with prices over $100/barrel for an extended period and once we are forced to live under such prices, perhaps we'll be more receptive to an energy policy focused on offshore drilling until renawable energy can get off the ground.

ugafish May 2, 2009 1:51 AM

Tommy,
You're right. When McCain chose Gov Palin, I remember that energy was the most important issue to voters. The republicans seemed to be gaining points on the drilling issue, and the economy tanked and the high oil policies were forgotten.

TommyReport May 2, 2009 2:07 AM

Mac still did pretty well on the energy issue with voters....we only lost that issue 50-46 among the 7% of voters who considered energy to be their #1 issue. We lost other Iraq, healthcare, and the economy by greater margins. 19% considered it to be their #1 issue in Alaska.

If energy policy and moral values constitute the #1 concern among 30-35% of the electorate in '12, I think the Governor wins.

AKReport May 2, 2009 2:08 AM

hey, if paying 5$ a gal for gas gets us sarah in 2012 i am all for it.

energy is her #1 issue.

ugafish May 2, 2009 2:13 AM

This was from last summer:

"A new Wall Street Journal/NBC news poll finds that energy -- including gasoline and utility costs -- ranks as the economic issue that voters say affects them the most personally."

"The poll indicated that Democrats' edge on the issue may be slipping; the July poll gave Democrats a 20-point advantage on the issue, versus a 28-point lead in a January poll by The Wall Street Journal and NBC News."

Levi doesn't strike me as a bad guy. Not that he hasn't made some bad judgment calls lately, but he's eighteen and stupid.

Having said that I think he's being used, and the sooner he wakes up to that fact the better. Someone said here awhile back that they didn't get too many bad vibes from Levi, but that his mom and sister raised a red flag. I agree. I think Levi could have been alot harsher than he actually has been.

I just think he's kinda dense and doesn't realize that the people around him aren't really in this for him and his son, but to get at the Palins. And those people include his own family. There was a moment on Larry King when his sister was saying something about Bristol and Levi countered it, but the sis quickly covered up the tracks to let the bad impression stay.

Levi, wake up. The sooner you drop these characters and actually work with the mother of your child, the sooner Bristol will actually trust you and let you spend more time with that child. What you're doing now is counter-productive to your stated goals and is only playing right into the hands of those who called you and your family white trash in the first place. They're not your friends; they're using you.

Gemini May 3, 2009 9:25 PM

OT comment: Shouldn't "Governor Palin's Website" be titled something like "State of Alaska Website?" Sorry, I just seem to notice things like that ...

Gabriel McKee May 4, 2009 2:25 AM

What in the hell is wrong with these people?

Lerual May 4, 2009 9:13 AM

Turn the clock ahead five years. I hope by then Bristol is finishing college, being a good mother to her son and perhaps has found someone special to be a good father figure in her son's life. Where will Levi be in five years? This dropout will probably have fathered another child or two by this time and still be the same low life as he is today.
The Palin family has a very narrow line to walk right now. Can you imagine the disgust people would have if Tripp was allowed to stay unsupervised in the home of a suspected drug dealer? People would be up in arms about the Palins putting their grandchild in that danger. This is a difficult situation and made more difficult by the constant media circus. Aren't there plenty of other unwed mothers with probably more interesting stories for the press to follow? Levi and the media are both using the Palin name.
