Report: Palin Called Prejean to Offer Support

Take it for what it's worth without official confirmation, but Allahpundit at Hot Air is passing along a report from E! that Governor Palin called Carrie Prejean to offer support against the vicious onslaught of the left-wing media she's been facing.

Allahpundit asks:

Is there anyone in American political life better qualified to give tips on coping with a seek-and-destroy campaign by progressive media?

I'm sure most political blogosphere followers already know this, but Prejean, who is Miss California, has been relentlessly attacked by the MSM because she honestly answered a question at the Miss USA pageant about her opinion on gay marriage. It should be noted that her opinion is identical to that of Barack Obama and Joe Biden (and the majority of Californians who voted on Proposition 8).

I heard Mark Steyn guest-hosting Rush's show the other day, and he was asking why Obama and Biden aren't under attack for their opinions on gay marriage. Steyn thinks it's because the left knows that Obama and Biden are lying in order to fool the rubes in the middle. Call me cynical, but I think Steyn is right.

I think it is wonderful that Sarah took time to call Carrie's father..and yes, there is NO ONE that understands what it is like to be smeared by the media more then Sarah Palin..she understands it and sympathizes with Carrie

It fits with her character to make this call - away from the glare of the media and to not call attention to herself - just a supportive phone call to a young lady who needs an ally right now.

Since President Barrack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden also are opposed to same-sex marraige, it is amazing that they have not also supported Carrie against this hate-fest!

Not only is Prejean's opinion the same as 0bama's, Biden's and the majority of Californians, but the majority of Americans, and indeed, the world for that matter. In many countries, homosexuals are executed, but yet the left never mentions that. I don't see any big gay demonstrations out in front of embassies of countries that do that, but yet their militants will attack churches, property, and even people here in this country.

Palin's testimony befor Salazar got cited in the Investor's Business Daily (thread-hijack! hahah):

Drill, Ivan, Drill
http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=326589033617322

The U.S. Geological Survey believes the Arctic holds up to 25% of the world’s undiscovered oil and gas reserves, leading some experts to call the region the next Saudi Arabia. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin underscored that point at an April 14 Interior Department field hearing in Anchorage chaired by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.

Palin testified: “The world-class potential of Arctic Alaska was verified in the recently released Circum-Arctic Oil and Gas Assessment by the U.S. Geological Survey, which highlighted that Arctic Alaska was second only to the West Siberian Basin in total Arctic petroleum potential and the highest Arctic potential for oil.”

The Russians fully intend to develop the West Siberian Basin and any other Arctic areas their technology can reach. We may someday find ourselves importing Russian oil extracted off the Alaskan coast by Gazprom instead of Exxon or Shell.

As Palin pointed out to Salazar, the USGS assessment “estimates that Arctic Alaska has mean technically recoverable resources of approximately 30 billion barrels of oil, 6 billion barrels of natural gas liquids and 221 trillion cubic feet of conventional natural gas.”

Continued Arctic exploration is also necessary for the continued viability of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Production at Prudhoe Bay is in decline. North Slope production is one-third of its peak, and unless we are allowed to produce oil and gas from ANWR and in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas, Palin said, reduced flow will cause the pipeline to close.

The administration’s game plan is to force energy prices to “skyrocket” to make alternative sources of energy more competitive. We don’t see the Russians dotting Siberia with wind turbines and solar panels. They recognize the sun doesn’t always shine and the wind doesn’t always blow.

Alaska’s environmentally friendly natural gas, according to the Energy Information Agency in its 2009 Energy Outlook, would lower the cost to consumers by 63 cents per thousand cubic feet in 2002.

The only way we might be able to get at these resources may be to sell Alaska back to the Russians.

I have been trying to understand how Obama is against same sex marriage... Being that he is ultra-liberal on every other issue.

I think Steyn might have hit the nail on the head, mostly because of Obama's lack of support or discussion about the issue.

Palin calling Prejean is great tho, and I'm not surprised. She is an unapologetic defender of conservative values, and the underdogs that express them.

Check out SarahPac.

It's been updated and RAM's article is on there.

Sorry Mel for the OT. I'm just so excited for RAM.

Good for Sarah! She and Carrie are two of the bravest and sincerest voices for traditional values. Sarah and Carrie "walk the walk" even if it means that they will be attacked through Alinsky methods by the intolerant left. Many male conservatives are afraid to do that.

Carrie is being demonized for pictures that any liberal actress or model would be celebrated for. How many female celebrities/models are feted for appearing in revealing poses in Maxim, Playboy, or Sports Illustrated? Remember the recent Jennifer Aniston cover of GQ? What hypocrisy on the part of the left and MSM!

I think Carrie and Sarah are kindred spirits. The MSM will try to smear them anyway they can because both women are proud to be conservative.

Sarah and Carrie rule!

If anybody knows nasty media treatment, it's the Little General. I guess I'm not surprised that she would do something as thoughtful as this. Classy is as classy does.

Greg, relax, man!: "Not only is Prejean's opinion the same as Obama's, Biden's ..."

You can personally be againt gay marriage without feeling you have to influence policy to your personal beliefs. Just like you can personally be against abortion without feeling you have to advocate the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

"... and the majority of Californians, but the majority of Americans, and indeed, the world for that matter."

If you want to use the recent vote in CA as proof for that case, OK, but I challenge you to come up with proof that the majority of Americans and "indeed" [citizens] of the world are against same-sex marriage (as a political institution). Please provide that proof.

"In many countries, homosexuals are executed,"

That is true.

How do you feel about that? Do you agree or disagree that it OK to be executed because some country's judicial system rules that you are homosexual? Confirm or deny.

"... but yet the left never mentions that. I don't see any big gay demonstrations out in front of embassies of countries that do that, "

Where do you live? How many contryies embassy's are in or near your town? Ya think just maybe the media you watch doesn't cover all events in other cities and countries? Most of the stuff that goes on in the world is never reported in the MSM. Watch BBC news if you want a modicum of a world perspective. Or get involved with Human Rights Organizations. Oh yes they cover this. but the MSM does not, because it's not entertaining enough for the American public. So don't think for a minute that just because you haven't heard stories of protests, that they are not, in fact, happening.

"... but yet their militants will attack churches, property, and even people here in this country."

Facts please here - back this up. Who are the 'militants'? Please provide proof of the attacks on churches, property (be soecific!) and "even people here in this country"

Pray tell me Greg, who has been attacked in this country by "militant gays"?

Like I said at the beginning. relax man! IMO, you have not shown us anything that we need to be "scared of" here.

Ca-ching, just since this article went up, I've seen on Feedjit over a dozen viewers leaving C4P via SarahPAC. Maybe there's a connection.

Let's not make this harder than it looks, the African American
community in general and the African immigrant diaspora in particular is very reactionary and
chauvinist. If they have an Islamist cast, it's even more so,
Black evangelicals provided the margin of victory for the anti gay
marriage propositions in Florida, California and at least one other state. AS Mark Steyn points out relying on international law, need not include SociaL Democratic precedents in Northern Europe but more retrograde ones in Tanzania and the Middle East. But the protests are almost invariably
against Christian institutions not Moslem or pagan ones.

One irony is that Sarah wasn't given credit for her affirmation of gay marriage by veto, despite her personal opinion, another is the left's increasingly frequent alliance with the Salafi element
on the anti war front and other elements, an attitude that Obama seems to encouraged. The still too lukewarm embrace of Ahmadinejad at Columbia, is but just one example. Frankly, one way to challenge the Wahhabi current most directly is to have someone like Sarah as President, a practicing Christian who none the less supports woman having a wide variety of choices; it would dissabuse mant of the delusion of the burka in foreign lands.

Greg May 8, 2009 9:02 PM

Marvin M,

I'll turn your statement around just a bit, You can personally be for gay marriage without feeling you have to influence policy to your personal beliefs. How's that? If those who oppose gay marriage aren't allowed to try to influence policy, neither should those supportive of gay marriage.

People can believe what they want one way or the other, but when what they support is defeated at the ballot box, they are not entitled to vandalize Mormon and Catholic churches, invade churches and harrass people. Even individuals and businesses who had donated to the anti-Prop 8 effort were harrassed. Maybe you didn't see the reports of these things that happened in the wake of the Prop 8 vote in CA.

I'd like you to be specific about all these protests taking place in front of the Iranian diplomatic mission to the UN or their embassies overseas, or missions of other Muslim countries since they seem to be the countries carrying out most of the executions. How about info on Mosques being vandalized, invaded or at least picketed.

I don't believe in executing gays, just as I don't believe in executing people accused of adultary, cutting the hands off of petty thieves, beheading drug users, flogging people for consuming alcohol, honor killings, the international trade in women and children for sexual exploitation and a whole lot of other really nasty things that go on around the world, and sometimes right here in this country. The laws in most countires outside the western world are brutal, and few westerners of any kind, gay, straight or otherwise, would willingly subject themselves to them.

As for the opinion of the country regarding gay marriage, since most religions oppose gay marraige, and most people define themselves as belonging to a religious denomination, there is probably a majority who oppose gay marriage on religious grounds.

Even people who are not religious, such as myself, oppose gay marriage, since it opens up a whole raft of issues, should poligamy be legalized? How about group marriage? Such groups such as NAMBLA campaign for the lowering of the age of consent to something like 6 years old, should that be considered a lifestyle, something that should be tolerated, criminalized or legalized? All these things have to be considered, because you know once the gay marriage door is opened, there will be others wanting to pass through it as well, claiming that it is their right to do these things.

I despise politicians, but absolutely LOVE Sarah Palin, whether she call Carrie or not.

"Steyn thinks it's because the left knows that Obama and Biden are lying in order to fool the rubes in the middle. Call me cynical, but I think Steyn is right."

I couldn't agree more.
