Anti-Letterman Protest in NYC This Coming Tuesday, Call for Assistance
There will be an anti-Letterman protest in NYC this coming Tuesday, June 16th. The details can be found here - we're reprinting them to help spread the word:
DATE: Tuesday, June 16th
TIME: 4:30 PM
PLACE: Ed Sullivan Theater, 1697 Broadway, New York City
PURPOSE: To protest disgusting sexual jokes made against Governor Palin and her teenage daughters
Need help with a couple of things - RAM spoke with John Ziegler today, and he suggests that one or more attendees should webcast the protest live. If anyone here has the technology to do that, or knows someone who does, please contact us at editor@conservatives4palin.com.
Alternatively/additionally, we are looking for people willing to videotape/photograph the event, and upload the video/photos as soon as possible after the event.
One more thing - we're attempting to contact the organizers of the NYC Tea Party Protests to see if their membership will be willing to provide support and assistance. As a reminder, Governor Palin is a Tea Party supporter; Andrew Breitbart even basically called her the candidate of the Tea Parties. If any of our readers can put us in touch with New York Tea Party organizers, please let us know!

The NYC Tea Party had about 15,000 participants, it would be great if that many showed up to protest Letterboy.
It's about time! Let's go for it! We should contact Fox News and CNN to tip them off (heck even MSNBC too!).
It would be great if some of us could get tickets to be in the audience and shout out that Letterman should apologize or some such protest (some boos would be helpful too to get our message across).

I am definitely going to the rally on Tuesday. I will be video taping it. My daughter will be with me with her laptop to get a live feed with skype.

IF it was logistically possible for me to go, I would. I am glad ppl will protest. Enough is enough and too much is too much. These attacks of Governor Palin and family MUST END!! The MSM brought this all on with their hit jobs and the hit pieces must end. I'm glad ppl will protest.

I withdrew my previous comment on Giuda because upon further review I can't say that he supports the anti Palin pro Dave Letterman article posted on the web site listed on his twitter page. But that article is a piece of garbage!
I cannot attend, CA is my home. I suggest people who attend should bring posters bearing the name(s) of the major sponsors of the show. Heat on the sponsors is the best pressure.
Also, find out who the guests are for that evenings show and give them some negative publicity.
You might want to check with the New Jersey Tea Party People too. It is easy for them to come to N.Y.
Also, the smaller states north of N.Y. a lot of those people work in N.Y. and commute.
We need to contact those Newspapers around Augburn, NY that wrote Pro-Palin articles. Also the organizers of the Autism walk. Remember that is why she was in NY.

This protest isn't just about the Palins. What Letterman did was to reinforce the thinking in our culture that it is okay and funny to demean and degrade women and young girls using crude sexual references. This is just as bad as when men refer to girls or women as "hos" or "bitches" in songs, videos or films.
We have to take a stand sometime. Many people reacted when Imus used derogatory language to describe the Rutgers girls basketball team. Even Obama chimed in and said that Imus' comments were unacceptable.
Many of us are still upset by the rampant sexism and misogyny that have been directed at women recently especially women politicians like Sarah and Hillary. If we don't speak out, then things will never change or get worse for women and young girls.
That's the beauty of our system. Citizens have the right to assemble and protest things that they feel are wrong.
Why was my recent post deleted? Maybe it was inadvertent. I was just asking if you all have info on protests planned against Conan O'Brien, Jay Leno and Bill Maher, as well as a link to any statements from Governor Palin & Todd reacting to the many previous jokes about Bristol Palin told by all of them.

Bristol was 17 when most or all of those other jokes (by Conan, Leno and Maher) were made.

Can anyone link to a single news account or picture -- just one -- that indicated that Willow was the one who attended the game with her parents? I mean, an article or picture that came out *before* this controversy. In other words: how *could* Letterman have known Willow was there?

The only published photos I can find of them in the stands -- both AP and Reuters photos -- merely show Governor Palin herself or the governor and Todd, and a few pictures show them with Rudy and Rudy's wife Judith.
Again, in good faith: rationally, isn't it more plausible that Letterman and his writers were referencing Bristol -- whether you think that's wrong in itself -- than Willow? In fact, it's the only plausible/logical conclusion.

As you know I am a contrarian on many issues. Last week I heard Rush Limbaugh say that he does not believe in boycotts. This got me thinking and regarding David Letterman here is what I have concluded.
I support the one-time protest of Letterman on Tuesday but anything beyond that I would not support. Here is why:
1)If protests happen consistently the MSM will soon begin to focus on the leaders of the movement and who comprises the movement rather than on Letterman himself
2)Letterman will get too much attention; his ratings already appear to be rising and may rise more with all this publicity
3)And with #2 even if you force some of his advertisers to stop promoting their wares on his programs Letterman will always be able to find substitutes
4)And if the protest or boycott forces Letterman off the air he will become a marytr to the Left which the MSM will use to promote a narrative of right-wing extremism
Folks after Tuesday the point will have been made. Sarah will be able to use this episode as a rallying cry to devote attention to the culture wars. More moderates and independents (especially females) might be willing to give Sarah a second look now. There is word that traffic on C4P has increased substantially in the past week or so.

I think the whole question of whether Letterman was talking about Bristol or Willow is bogus.
This is a man who makes millions of dollars a year to tell jokes. He is accountable for what we he says, regardless of his intentions. If a schoolteacher, who makes much, much less money made some kind of trashy comment he or she would be held accountable.
Letterman can say that his joke was about Bristol, but it doesn't matter. Because Willow was the one at the game, the joke was about her.
He's the one who had the responsibility to find out which daughter was there. Just because he's using sloppiness as an excuse doesn't mean it's a valid excuse.
Letterman screwed up. He should just apologize and retire. Maybe then grow up and pick on someone his own size.

Lettermen did apologize for his comments and stated point blank that his joke was directed towards Palin's older daughter Bristol and not her 14 year old daughter Willow.
But the real truth about this incident is the fact that people are choosing to use Lettermen as a way to voice their disatisfaction on not being able to control everything in this world and their hatred towards McCain and Palin losing the election.
Actually, India, we are responding to the Saul Alinksy wing of the Democratic Party that seeks to destroy dissent. Letterman's call for the rape of the children of his political opponents is just the latest data point in the long litany of calls for physical attacks of people with opposing view points.
Sandra Bernard advocated that Palin be gang raped during the election. Playboy recently advocated that conservative commentators be hat f**ked/raped & now Letterman was advocating Palin's children be publicly raped during a baseball game.
