UPDATED: C4P Announces Grassroots Webathon to Retire Governor Palin's Legal Debt
Friends, Conservatives, and Ordinary Barbarians...
lend me your ears...
As I announced last week on the Tammy Bruce Show, Conservatives4Palin is sponsoring a Webathon to retire the legal debt that Governor Palin amassed while defending herself from frivolous and politically motivated ethics complaints.
To date, all fourteen of these complaints have been dismissed, but in the process of defending herself, Governor Palin amassed over $500,000 in legal debt.
The Alaska Fund Trust is the official Palin legal defense fund. There was limited media attention given to the AFT when it was launched. The attention has tapered off, but Governor Palin's legal debt is still there and is still accumulating as her enemies have regrouped and are looking for new ways to hit her with more frivolous complaints.
The AFT needs our help.
What use is a grassroots movement if we can't take a stand and help Governor Palin when she needs us the most?
Conservatives4Palin will sponsor a Webathon from June 15 – 22, 2009, and we encourage all of you to join us and be an active part.
Here’s how it works...
We created the following “Webathon Banner” which we would like people to post prominently on their websites throughout the week:
Notice the Banner’s four simple instructions.
We are asking people to donate to the AFT and then email us to tell us how much they gave.
We will update the Banner daily to reflect the new numbers raised.
Alongside the Webathon Banner, we would like people to post this video announcing the Webathon:
Please keep both the Webathon Banner and the video prominently posted on your website throughout the week.
At the kick-off of the Webathon on Monday, Conservatives4Palin will post a 3:30 minute video that explains the ethics complaints in more detail. We will keep that video posted throughout the week.
We will also be posting daily humorous video ads to highlight specific ethics complaints and show just how stupid they are. We will entertain people and encourage them to donate at the same time.
If you are willing to join our efforts, please email us at editor@conservatives4palin.com so that we can add you to our update list and make sure that you have the latest Webathon Banner every morning.
If you do not actually operate a blog or website, we ask that you please forward this to the people in your email distribution lists.
Please contact the websites and blogs that you read, and ask them to join our efforts. Ask them to contact us to join the Webathon.
Post this at Free Republic, Red State, Townhall, Team Sarah, and the other conservative web communities. Post our daily videos and the Webathon Banner there.
Help us get the word out!
This is not about any one website. This is about helping Governor Palin and her family.
At the end of the day, the story will be that the "internet community" rallied to help an honest and decent public servant.
Be a part of the story, friends! Someday we'll tell our grandkids how we organized and took a stand!
And be creative too. Feel free to make your own videos announcing this. Post articles about it. Get inspired and get active. We can do it!
UPDATE by J. Smith: Remember to e-mail talk radio hosts like Laura Ingraham (e-mail her here), Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity (e-mail him here), Mark Levin, et al to inform them of what C4P is doing.
Here's a list of actual radio host e-mail addresses we have:
Michael Medved: Michael@michaelmedved.com
Dennis Prager: dennis@pragerradio.com
Bill O'Reilly: oreilly@foxnews.com
Rush Limbaugh: ElRushbo@eibnet.com

Spectacular idea. I don't have a website, but I'll e-mail everyone I can think of who might be interested and send them here.
Question. What about those of us who have already donated? Should we report what we've contributed, or is this just to see what can be raised just during this time?
that video gives me the chills! great job, per usual!
Freeped!
Great Idea C4P, I'll let my friends know over at Team Sarah !!
Just posted it at Team Sarah too. Heading out now for the evening...
DB
I'll let "teh Ace" know (if they don't already). I can't imagine this effort will take long considering the love for the guv! (Beautiful video, BTW.)
Are you lifting the minimum amount one can contribute during this week.
Would be great if you lifted that amount for just the one week.
Just think BOR would contribute $1,000.
Just posted at Smart Girl Politics, now off to post it on my facebook page.
juju, great minds! I was thinking the same thing about BOR. He's not "grassroots," but he sure would get the ball rolling with a national announcement. A lot of older folks don't like computers, so his announcement would help. It'll be just our luck that he's on vacation this week.
RAM, is this strictly Web only, or would you like Barbarians to contact all conservative outlets? Also, is there going to be a snail-mail address for checks?
O/T -- what was the music in that video? It's gorgeous (and heartbreaking).
Another great idea!
A homerun video too!
Great job!
Just left Team Sarah and it's hitting the site big time.. United we Stand :)
Snail mail is a great idea. I have this friend that sends Sarah money every month and I know she would contribute if she could mail it in..she does not do computer stuff.
I'd contribute in a heartbeat, but I've already given the maximum amount.
Fantastic. I'm excited to get on board with this. Great video. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
This is outstanding. Great idea RAM! This is the impact that conservatives can have if we work together as an interest group. This is the only way we can be heard! So I'll be ready to give in the hopes of influencing Gov. Palin to run for national office and to stay true to conservative principles across the board. God bless you RAM and C4P!
don't forget about hotair.com as they have a very large community.
I was kinda under the impression she had the legal bills in hand b/c she was saying just contribute to SarahPAC. Oh well, will send in some bucks gladly.
Ok, I just posted this over on gretawire.com. Hope that it brings in some $$$.
Thanks for the effort you're putting in. I may not be able to contribute financially but I'll make sure many people know about this.
If they don't want to open it up for unlimited contribution, how about raising the max. to $500 or $1,000.
Another idea, we here on this blog and Team Sarah, and anyone else you can tell, should spread our contributions (no matter how small)
over a period of several days so it doesn't get a big band and then trapper off in the later part of the week.
Also, if you have given the max. maybe you have a spouse, child or friend you can give in their name.
band=bang
trapper=taper

bitterclinger mentioned BOR. Has anyone e-mailed him about this? I remember when he committed to contributing to Sarah's legal defense fund during a previous show. He was just waiting for it to be up and running.
The rules in the Alaska Fund Trust says the maximum amount to contribute to the Fund is $150.00 from each person.
Hopefully Tammy Bruce will announce and spread the message. I follow her on Twitter and she links to C4P quite a bit.
If everyone has followers on Twitter, start tweeting this and ask them to tweet it to their followers.
By the way, the music in the video is moving... good job. :)
I sent out an email to all the conservatives I know and asked them to pass it along. I also emaile BOR and Glenn Beck. I even emailed it to the executive producer of Glenn Beck and to Glenn's webmaster. THis should go viral in the next 24 hours or less! Great work everyone!
Again, I'm all in.
Someone needs to email Jim Robinson at FreeRepublic to get permission to post this over there. He also is a donor-financed site so we probably need to get his permission to post it.
I don't know how he would respond.
Jim Treacher on twitter (jtlol) has been awesome in support of our Sarah. I gave $50 on Friday. Does that count?
RAM you are exactly right about us C4P grass rooters, we should consider It an honor to rise up to this injustice.... LETS DO FOR THE CUDA!
Im all in but Im sure it would take some major restructuring and approval from Sarah to change the $150.00 limit, Remember that was her way of keeping the fund grass roots.
Families could contribute the max. for each child over, I believe age 18 or give the money to a friend who might not have the resources and they donate.
Hope Im not encouraging anything Illegal everyone ck into what I've said before jumping off the cliff.
Bless you RAM and C4Per's. I have emailed everyone I know who supports Sarah and who has a Blog. We should also let Glenn Beck know about this and Rush too.
Excellent job editors. Thank you for all your effort and time you guys put into to. Sarah will be so proud.
I have the banner up and a post on this here; R. A., you already have my e-mail, of course. :) I don't do Twitter, but I plan to post it on my Facebook page as well. Someone ought to ping Treacher to post this in Hot Air's Green Room.
Oh, and Seth, another great vid--thanks. :)
It would be nice to post the Webathron at "The 912 Project" web site. They have over 600,000 members.
Anybody a member here?
http://www.the912project.com/
Mine's up now at www.viewfromstonewater.blogspot.com.
But can the banner be any bigger? Or can someone show me how to make it bigger on blogger?
Excellent video!!
Off to see if I can figure out how to put it on my Facebook ...
I don't think we should quibble with the $150; I think the whole point of this Webathon is to get as many people as possible involved. If we get enough, $150 will be just fine.
I am just sitting here thinking...with a smile on my face...
When you make your contribution think.."mudflats, immoral majority and best of all Celtic Diva"
It might help you to dig deeper in your pocket.
On the Alaska Fund Trust website, there is a link to contact someone for questions regarding the contributions.
What are the chances we can get Celtic Diva to put a banner on her blog? :)
Great idea to help get the word out to help with Sarah's legal debt.
The banner is really nice. Great job editors. The video idea is great too.
Not to get technical but I lookked at the actual trust fund document you can download off the site. Under the provisions for donating it did not say you had to be a certain age. Perhaps that is one of those obvious things because a child would not have a source of income. I suppose Sarah would want this all above board and not want us trying to go through loop holes.
Ok, it's up at FreeRepublic.
I figured out how to make the banner big on my blog. Whew!
I got permission from my CFS (Connecticut for Sarah - part of TS) co-organizers to post the video on our CFS page. It's up now.
Awesome Video!
Freep!
Great Idea!
I am posting this over at Lucianne.com on Palin Threads.

Don't forget the Alaska Bar Association. they stand to profit from this.
FR just took the thread down.
I posted it FR not too long ago
Yeah, just noticed it now. WTF???
I think they took it down.
As I said, we're going to need permission from those folks.
I just emailed the info to my local talk radio guys. They are Sarah supporters.
I contacted Libertarian Republican, Ace, No We Won't and e-mailed everyone I knew who would give. Also sent to Don Surber, a local talker who follows Rush's show, and Cavuto. Just remembered Fox & Friends. Mondays are slow news days. Did anyone contact them?
Questions, questions, questions...
Let me answer them all...
juju, the limit for the AFT is still $150 per person per year. If you have given the maximum, have your spouse, mother, father, sister, etc. give. I am checking on whether you can give in the name of your children (18 or otherwise). I'll let you know what I find out. Be creative but work within the rules. If you have given the max, get friends and family to do it. If everyone who reads this website everyday donated the max, we would have the debt paid down (granted, not just Palin supporters read this website, but you get the idea).
The AFT does accept snail mail checks. Go to their website for the address. They also accept payment by credit card and PayPal.
Gov. Palin is extremely cautious about accepting donations for this defense fund. The maximum contribution was set so low because she wants to avoid any appearance of impropriety. That makes fundraising more difficult because people who could give a lot are limited. So we need large numbers of people donating in order to meet the goal. That's why spreading the word is so important.
If you want to be added to the distribution list for the daily banner updates remember to email us at editor@conservative4palin.com
Yogi41, yes! Tweet this everywhere. Please, everyone with a Twitter account, please tweet it and do lots of @ tweets to media big shots. Get the word out!
Al B., you are the Freep man here. Please contact Jim and ask him to allow this. We will have daily video posts, perhaps he will allow people to link to that.
Everyone please take ownership of this Webathon. No one needs permission to take responsibility for something. Just step up and do it. This is not the C4P webathon. It's the grassroots webathon. All of us together. Everyone is as much of an authority here as anyone else. Just go to it, folks!
As for other media besides the web, heck yes! Send this out to anyone and everyone. Again, take responsibility for it. Print the banners out if you want. Be creative. Just go for it.
Someone asked about the music in the video. The video was made by our very own Seth Adam Smith. Seth purchased the rights to the music in the video in order to gift a finished final version of the video (minus the webathon info) to the AFT for their use as long as they would like. It was a labor of love for Seth, and like all of his artistic endeavors, it came from the heart and is a thing of beauty.
So, to answer your question, you are hearing the music in that video for the first time. It belongs with the video.
And just wait till you see Seth's full 3:30 minute video. Beautiful!
And the daily videos that he made -- they are hilarious...
This is going to be a fun week at C4P!
Bring it on!!!!!!
Sarah 2012!
Al B,
There is a way around FR main page. I did it when the ATF was first annoced. Use the mail function. Have Soildwood do a mail ping. It work the last time.
What about the www.palinit.com
search page?
Can't wait to see how fast the counter goes up!:o)
Send to Sean. HE can talk about on his show.
Send to Rush, Levin, local radio people that support Sarah, the NY Assemblymen in Auburn, NY, those local papers (were very supportive of her), the local Auburn NY TV (once again very supportive), Savage Nation, Beck.
For Greta Write her. I think she will help.
Make ADN cover it and try the other Palin media.
Coda --
I emailed Jim. If I do not hear back by morning, I'll get with SolidWood and try to figure something else out.
I'd rather try directly by email to Jim first. They've been selective about these things in the past.
JeanA,
Thanks for the 912 Project suggestion; I created an account and posted it there.
Awesome Idea C4P! I'll be glad to pitch in!
Bitterclinger:
I was just thinking about Fox & Friends too! They are fans of Sarah's and know about the bogus ethics charges.
I seem to remember when that one lawyer started his own unauthorized fund for Sarah's legal fees that Fox & Friends covered it.
Bill O'Reilly likes to have Amanda Carpenter or Mary K. Ham on his show to discuss what is happening on the blogosphere each week. C4Pers might want to let Amanda and Mary know about this Webathon to get the word out too! I believe they are both on Twitter.
RAM --
You have mail
What about the Indiana Right to Life people?
They were supportive when Sarah wa hit with an ethics complaint for going there, maybe they can send something out via their channels? E-mail list etc.
You guys all giving these ideas... take ownership!!! Go to it!
Do it!
I've never been to a webathon.
What should I wear?
I emailed GOP12.com; hopefully, he'll post about this.
I just sent the video and info on the webathon to all of my Join Team Sarah MySpace Friends (1000+). This is a great idea!
I found contact info on the Vandeburgh County RTL. Will send an e-mail to the ex. Director and Asst. Ex Director.
They still had info on their site about the guv being hit with a violation for speaking there so surely they will at least e-mail their memeber list.
Will let you know when I get a response.
Do we know how much of the debt she has left to pay? I just worry about people paying too much when it could be going to SarahPac. Didn't someone else mention that she had the legal bills in hand already, I think it would be good to check out.
OT---Oh by the way lets not forget our Bitterman campaign.
Torrey,
That would be unlawful.
I gave the max on the first day, but I'll do what I can to spread the word.
Read about this grassroots support:
http://www.yumasun.com/news/sarah-50751-palin-lofton.html
"I went to visit my daughter in Wasilla, and when people here in Yuma found out I was going to Alaska, they all said to tell Sarah hello. I made a card for Sarah that said, 'Hello from your friends in Yuma, Arizona.' It had 200 signatures and personal notes. Three local bands also gave me their CDs, and some of the business people here gave me cards to give her."
Lofton, who is unaffiliated with any political party, said it was a bipartisan coalition of people who signed the card.
"The people who signed the card included liberals and conservatives from both parties. How they feel about Sarah was important, not their party affiliation. Sarah and I did not discuss politics at all."
Also, we do not know what future legal expenses she might have so hopefully we will have more then enough money. The ankle biters will not stop.
When we go to other conservative sites most of them have a blog list on the side of there blog. We can check that and send info to them.
You can also send one to your Local,State and Fed. Representatives if they are Republican.
Shall I send one to the White House???
there=their
I posted the videos in the "Anti Obama" and "Sarah Palin 2012" Livejournal communities.
"C4P would not be sponsoring this if we were not certain that the effort was necessary."
RAM - did you get the "inside scoop" on this issue? :)
Thanks for your responses. I was just concerned because of a previous comment on this thread. I think it is a fantastic idea and am excited about what this week will bring.
I gave the full donation a while back, but I will spread the word.
Don't forget places like Sarah Palin Radio, John Ziegler's radio show...
im gonna go post over at Hip Hip Republican.com :)
btw check out this article

RAM,
check this out if you haven't.

friends of the guv.
So hey, BettyJo on the open thread inspired me. There's this email list called the JournoList, which if you've never heard of it is the brainchild of a columnist named Ezra Klein, where reliably "progressive" media types all talk about current issues. They mull over the issues of the day and decide how best to spin them, and then print that spin in all of their various media outlets. This really is where the MSM bias comes from.
We absolutely need our own JournoList - the CudaList! We can come up with ways of spinning various events without trolls listening in, and particularly insightful contributors to C4P would be invited to join. Then we can spread these perspectives around other websites without them realizing it is a coordinated attack. Thoughts?
Betty Jo, I just thought of it. Wasn't there some 527 which openly declared it's going to work for her and some people speculated it was running polls on behalf of her? Why don't we get in touch with them about to organize the grassroots in the primaries? Don't remember its name but news about it was posted on C4P.
It is good that Governor Palin is getting help to pay off the debt that has accumulated through no fault of hers. Any frivolous complaint should get some penalty in any shape or form in order to discourage others from pursuing this type of activity.

sjk:
That whole EPIC FAIL phrase is getting old. You remind of some middle schoolers I had to watch last night.
The only real failure is your ability to get off this site.
Scoot, scoot.
Actually, it's not a free site, so you're a EPIC FAIL on that, sjk. C4P pays to be here, and your contributions aren't welcome or necessary.
skj: Uh, that logic makes no sense. If sites are paid for, whether it's $15 or $5k, they aren't free.
And last time I checked (if you must get into semantics), the internet isn't free. Whether you pay for it from you home or sit in the coffee shop using their "free" wireless, it's being paid for by someone.
Whether RAM or anyone else at C4P allows you to wreak havoc or speak civilly on their site is up to them, they pay to play.
Why don't you start your own blog and fill it up with all your concerns. When we "see the light", we'll come visit on your dime.
sjk
Hey Punk!
It makes me smile every time you mention RAM.
RAM is so in your head.
I love how she makes you feel so small.
Tell me did some intelligent little girl beat you up on the play ground when you were younger?
Looks like intelligent women are still beating you up.......
Very inspirational video! You have your act together, As always C4P.
Great Idea for a Great Governor!
sjk from the belly of a snake,
Check back at the end of the week.
Then you can stick your EPIC FAIL!!!
up your EPIC A$$!!!
I will send an email to Rush tomorrow. But, my single email won't be enough. If we get EVERYONE to email Rush, asking him to just talk about the webathon for 3-4 minutes, we'll get that $500,000 within a half hour I suspect. I already donated back when the fund was established but will tell and/or email everyone I can think of. I think the key to this is Rush Limbaugh but we ALL have to send him an email.
Copy the email you send Rush and also send it to all the others (Beck, Hannity, Ingraham, Levin, Ziegler, Mike Gallagher, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, Michael Medved, local talk shows supportive of the Gov., anyone you can think of. Make sure you include the link to the webathon.
DO IT!!!!

I have a bit of a technical concern... You say that the graphic will be updated daily, but the URL for it is
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_l0gY92-YNeU/SjQ1CBM946I/AAAAAAAAAkA/XQkK-cnOQbs/s400/AFT-webathon-day1.jpg
The "day1" part, plus what I know about how Blogger handles uploaded graphics, suggests to me that when you upload the updated graphic, it will get a new URL. That means that the rest of us will have to come back here and grab the new URL to the day2, day3, etc. (if not the actual .jpgs themselves), and we will not get an auto-update simply by pointing to that URL. I would love to be wrong about this, but if I'm right, I think you should explain that better in the body of the post.
Yes, please compile a list of who to email to and we can all mass email them together, so it'll fill their Inboxes.
Fundraiser for the Thon...
$10 licensed Gov. Sarah Palin photo t-shirt. $5 flat fee shipping.
They are normally $25. This is a sale just for the duration of the Thon. The whole $10 goes to AFT.
Go to ConservaBid.com for more info and a pic. The listing is highlighted.
I don't have a blog w/ much traffic, but I'll write up an email w/ your links to FWD along to friends and tell them to pass along.
I'll tell them to include "Was sent by LindaW@C4P" or something when they email you if they donate.
Information sent to Timebomb 2000, one of the best forums on the Net!
Here are some talk radio emails that I could find

others had forms on their site, but i could not find the direct email.
In the YouTube video, Trig is starting to look Ben Franklin.
....a good omen eh???
I'm sending it to everyone on my email list ad will follow up with a phone call.
I'm not surprised that C4P is doing this. I get the impression from the Gov that it is difficult for her to ask for money especially in this economy.
RAM and all thank you for taking the lead on this and doing it on her behalf. Thank you for advertising it and getting the word out.

When the fund raising event officially kicks off the C4P page will see some temporary changes to accommodate that. At that point the webathon fund raising thermometer graphic that will be posted and changed throughout the week will be hosted offsite and have a static URL. So, at that point a person could set up their blog to point directly at that URL and not need to change things for the duration of the event.
However, for those people out there that prefer to upload the webathon fund raising thermometer graphic directly to their site, C4P will be e-mailing an updated graphic to everyone who is on the webathon mailing list. Or they could get it from the C4P site by just downloading the image.
Didn't see this listed anywhere, but unless it's been changed, Glenn Beck's e-mail is me@glennbeck.com
Have they announced the official starting time for this event??? Just wondering because of all the different time zones.
When the fund raising event officially kicks off the C4P page will see some temporary changes to accommodate that.
That's rather late. Things like that need to be set up first, so that everyone who is participating can set up posts to go up at the right time....
Have they announced the official starting time for this event??? Just wondering because of all the different time zones.
Indeed. We use GMT at the E3 Gazette, and therefore kicked it off at midnight, which is only 8 pm Sunday AST/EDT, 7 CDT, 6 MDT, 5 PDT/MST, 4 AKDT, 3 HADT, 2 HST, 1 SST, but already 10 am Monday in ChST (Guam).
I just donated the max allowed - $150.00. I could not afford it, but I did it anyway. Please, everyone, give as much as you can - more than you might otherwise.
