1260 has been around for a long time. It's gone through several formats over the years, and have settled on talk. Their line-up has improved with the recent addition of Laura Ingraham in the 6-9am time slot and, now John Ziegler. It's great that he's there.

BTW, when Palin gets to the WH, I know that there will be a sentimental urge to have Mr. Bill as communications director, but can't we have Ziegler or Eddie Burke? These guys know how to fight.

"good OLD David Letterman"

Heh. She was being too generous, though.

manajordan June 9, 2009 3:21 PM

Well,
John certainly asked some pretty pointed questions. She did great. You could tell she was walking :) Always on the move that Guv.

Yogi41 June 9, 2009 3:21 PM

Just heard the last 2 questions and answers. She made it clear that she will never say anything negative about John McCain; says she loves him and will never, ever say anything negative about an American hero.

Lorna Marie June 9, 2009 3:21 PM

caught the last 5 minutes or so of it, and she was as fab as could be! hope someone recorded it :)
one more leg of her trip she said and she will be joined by Piper and Trig :)

NANDE June 9, 2009 3:24 PM

Whew! I'm glad she's headed back home - I have been glued to my computer for days!! :-)

Great interview - John asked some good questions!

C June 9, 2009 3:26 PM

She's so amazing!!! This has been a great weekend for the Gov spreading her message and getting the word out that Mccain/Palin "told ya so"! If the GOP hasn't realized she IS the frontrunner for 2012 then they need to have their blinders removed!!!

ZH June 9, 2009 3:26 PM

Gov.Palin is incredible energetic.

Amanda K June 9, 2009 3:26 PM

Heh, gettin' "Triggy" with it!

TommyReport June 9, 2009 3:28 PM

So when did she say she's headed back to AK?

NANDE June 9, 2009 3:32 PM

Oh wait...now she's off to Texas...I guess I'll grab a snack and settle in for a few more days...

techno June 9, 2009 3:36 PM

I suppose what gets me really ticked off is that John McCain cannot even rise to even 25% the level of admiration for Sarah Palin that Sarah Palin bestowed on him during the campaign and even now in her interview with Ziegler.

And that despite what Meghan McCain said about Bristol Palin.

Folks, that is character.

Patty Hewes June 9, 2009 3:37 PM

She's off to texas. I think John got it wrong.

TommyReport June 9, 2009 3:38 PM

What was the gist of what she said?

manajordan June 9, 2009 3:40 PM

I hope you guys are recording more of his show. He is enjoying this open mic to talk about the good Guv.

TommyReport June 9, 2009 3:41 PM

Drudge has a headline, hahhaah.

Anonymoose June 9, 2009 3:46 PM

"Un-flippin-believable"!

hrh June 9, 2009 3:46 PM

I think she prefers to do interviews when she's on the move.

Think about that midsession press conference at the table and how she kept swiveling in the chair and fidgeting with something, her blackberry? Remember, we said we thought she should never do another interview in a swivel chair? ;)

Oh, LaDonna from Sarah Palin Radio is on Ziegler now; I hope C4P records and plays this, too. Actually John's whole show is about the good gov.

And Sean's talked a lot about her, too, but trying to listen to both is driving me nuts!

LAW June 9, 2009 3:59 PM

I've just realized the only downside when Palin gets in the White House. Every day will be Palin day. I'll be glued to the internet and tv watching and listening to her and her accomplishments.

I won't have a life!

This long weekend has been exhausting! And I've still got to get through Texas? Sheesh, I keep putting things off.

terri June 9, 2009 4:03 PM

darn!...missed it.
any chance of an audio of the show?

Tommy...i'm loving the drudge headline also!

AKReport June 9, 2009 4:04 PM

Good interview.

good questions.

Zeigler is a must hire for palin 2012 imo

wisetrog June 9, 2009 4:05 PM

LAW, you're so true. I dread the possibility! My yet unknown wife will probably desert me. I'll probably cut her a one way ticket if she tries to interrupt!

Remember, when Sarah does become President, the left will go so loony that we'll have seen nothing like it before. So, protecting her legacy might become a full time job for us ( as if it already isn't). lol

terri June 9, 2009 4:31 PM

she keeps getting better and better.

being an army mom(x2)...i loved how she spoke about track and throwing it back onto the (so called) reporter.

TommyReport June 9, 2009 4:33 PM

Another look at last night...

http://www.usnews.com/blogs/washington-whispers/2009/06/09/sarah-palin-snubs-washington-insiders-at-senate-house-dinner.html

She doesn't seem to want to hit Obama's SC pick...maybe she's taking Rush's attitude with her that she may be a secret pro-lifer, haahah.

James Krewson June 9, 2009 4:36 PM

When asked about how her week was going after being attacked so much by the media, she says, "My son called from Iraq and he is relatively safe and sound.. my son is ok.. I get to see my children..I am doing great!"

All I have to say is .. wow.

Steven June 9, 2009 4:42 PM

So would she or would she not nominate Sotomayor to the Supreme Court? I think that's a straight forward question, but she inexplicably didn't answer it. Any thoughts?

wisetrog June 9, 2009 4:43 PM

Tommy, that article is especially instructive in the inner workings of the "elite". Wow. They are really out of touch. Did they expect her to bow n scrape to them? And they all talk in pre-digested phrases marketing slogans;"Carhatts set" etc. Not an original thought among them. If they had, they'd know that NR is opposed to Sarah. Why is a GOP consultant still in business if he doesn't know that?

TommyReport June 9, 2009 4:44 PM

Steven,

My guess is that she hasn't followed this SC story particularly carefully and doesn't seem all too interested in making a statement on it.

TommyReport June 9, 2009 4:46 PM

Here's another thought...since she cannot really add to anything that has already been said by some of our heavy-hitters (e.g. Newt, Rush), she might as well cut her losses so they cannot tie anything perceived as anti-Hispanic rhetoric to her.

I wouldn't have answered the way she did so flippantly but whatever. I liked every other part of the interview except for that one answer.

Debtstar June 9, 2009 4:48 PM

I had a feeling that she got her strength from comparing the attacks on her , with other soldiers fighting for USA.And this confirmed it.

"I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic"

She's awesome.

PEC June 9, 2009 4:50 PM

Understand everybody may want her opinion on the Supreme Justice but Sarah is great at staying in her lane. If it doesn't affect Alaska and she has no say in the matter she steers clear. Why should she pick a fight she doesn't have to? She is picking the fights that are in her lane. She can tell you what she looks for in a Justice as she names them for her State.

techno June 9, 2009 4:50 PM

Steven:

Sontomayor is a dangerous topic to comment on for fear of coming off as anti-Hispanic; I thought the beginning of her answer of not appointing someone on the basis of gender and race was good but towards the end you could tell she was becoming hesitant and I got the feeling that she would have been just as happy if John hadn't asked the question.

I also think what was weighing on her mind was own choice for the SC of Alaska and how her views on Sotomayor may have been perceived by the Alaska MSM in relation to her own pick.

wisetrog June 9, 2009 4:57 PM

Yeah, but she should have been able to ward off the question with more polish than simply say, "I don't know." I get her desire not to speak on the subject but not the amateur way she handled it. This is Katie Couric again. She needs to be able to deflect questions better which she doesn't want to answer.

The rest of the interview was quite good and she was very good. Her Mccain answer was heartbreaking.

If she did give that great answer to AP, wondering why AP didn't have it anywhere. /sarc

She needs to stop speaking from the heart with jounralists and learn to be hard headed. She cannot be so sincere n off-hand with MSM. But then, she wouldn't be Sarah.

Patty Hewes June 9, 2009 4:57 PM

"Her allies say to stay tuned because she is fast moving to take on the GOP establishment, especially Mitt Romney , who's acting like it's his turn to be the nominee."

Is this a smart move on her part?

Doesn't she need these people? I kind of agree with the fact that her staff does her disservice sometimes.

I hope she has good people in mind because if she goes against the establishment who is she going to hire to adviser her?

hrh June 9, 2009 5:00 PM

Exactly, she's already had a controversial choice for AK SC this spring that almost lost her the Team Sarah contingency. Wiser heads prevailed, of course.

And she's got another choice coming up in a month or so. No need to comment nationally. Maybe next time she's asked this, she can just say check out my AK SC nominees for my choices.

Also. Tommy. Did you look at the right sidebar of that article you posted?

http://www.usnews.com/blogs/washington-whispers/2009/06/09/sarah-palin-snubs-washington-insiders-at-senate-house-dinner.html

There's a poll for. Get this. Should John McCain run a third time for President?

Seriously. It's a real poll.

PEC June 9, 2009 5:08 PM

Back up the staff bus. I would agree before mid-April but once she fired Becki Donatelli Meg has done well. Wait wasn't Becki the supposed great Washington Insider on her staff? And remember Meg quickly pointed out it was the NRSC/NRCC that screwed up and had them scrambling not her.
Bottomline - Sarah connects with the Grassroots and that wins elections. I am sorry if she is rocking the Washington Insiders by not bowing down to them. She didn't bow down to the power players in her State and she isn't bowing to these clowns. In fact it is safe to say she only bows to one and they are a Higher Power.
She generated tons of excitement this week. The insiders heard how many showed up to see her in Auburn, NY and they crapped in their pants and are doing an all out assault to marginalize her.
I am also becoming convinced that the only other staffer Sarah needs is RAM. Can you imagine what she would do to these idiots that try to play games with her. She would send them packing.

Patty Hewes June 9, 2009 5:12 PM

Palin needs these insiders...

Does she think that she has enough star power to rise money and run a national campaign on her own?

wisetrog June 9, 2009 5:18 PM

Patty, she is on record saying she wants to run a grassroots campaign. I am more worried about what will happen when she gets elected. State, CIA and others will eat her alive and if the GOP establishment also hates her, how is she gonna run ANYTHING?
She is a good person, politics is not a place for good people.

gardunne63 June 9, 2009 5:19 PM

Does anyone know what the f**k a "Republican consultant" does to earn a living? That is, other than hiding out under the desks of certain cable news shows.

Anyone have a job description?

It doesn't seem like one has to have too many talents to be one and there are more "Republican consultants" than registered Republicans.

Time to blow it up, Cuda. From the very top down to the bottom. You are the only person who can do it. Let's get the party started.

What a better world it would be if DC were full of small business owners & their employees filling all of that office space instead of DNC'ers and "Republican consultants".

section9 June 9, 2009 5:19 PM

One caveat about fundraising: Palin will need a lot of these fundraising heavyweights going forward. She's got Fred Malek in her corner. She'll need to go forward into the districts and start building up IOU's, and not blow off anyone she needs in future.

Hopefully, the Exxon/Transcanada deal will help her big time in Texas.

LadySam June 9, 2009 5:28 PM

Let us not forget how excellent the Governors political instincts are. Meg has done an excellent job for a one person staff. Sarah has one element that no one mentions and that is Todd [another reason for that smile :)] I think he is her closest advisor. When she is ready she will ramp-up the staff, upgrade SarahPAC, fine-tune the whole thing. Sopt for a moment and think how utterly busy she has been since Friday, how many people she spoken with, how many speeches she has given. Amazing woman!!!

gardunne63 June 9, 2009 5:29 PM

Patty,

"Palin needs these insiders...

Does she think that she has enough star power to rise money and run a national campaign on her own?"

At some point the line may be crossed in Sarah's mind and heart. If that line is crossed by her own party members, do you think she will need any DC insiders or even want any near her? Her ultimate goal then may not be to win the White House. It may be to destroy-once and for all- the dead, good-old white boys Republican club. And they know she can do this in the age of TeamSarah, C4P, Rush, Greta and the internet watchdogs who have her back 24/7. Think the Republican Party can win anything with 15-25 million of its grassrooters sitting at home? No, but they'll have a clusterfuck of "Republican consultants" on the dole trying to figure it out yet again.

She's too much of an American to want to do this but IF they cross the line...The Republicans are much more her enemy lately than the Democrats (excepting CelticDiva, of course).

wisetrog June 9, 2009 5:38 PM

gardune63, GOP is simply dripping with venom. The democrats have wisely left the job to their underlings in Hollywood and Comedy circuit but the GOP saw how successful her trip was and is simply going into overdrive to cancel the impression.

gop12 has a video of some blowhard likening her to "herpes."

PEC June 9, 2009 6:03 PM

Patty Hewes - That could be interpreted what was said about going after Sarah is do some SARAHPAC Insiders know what SARAHPAC is doing vs Romney's PAC? Is this code that when a new PAC with (and I love Sarah) that has the worse Web Page still outraises a well established machine, will the light come on that the Insiders better take note.

Let me tell you how this works. Just like McCain, if she seals the nomination the (in this case) moderates will get in line. The Independents will go with who they connect with. Sure there will be a Colin Powell out there that will stick with Obama and a few others, but if the base is rallies (think Obama) the fight will go to the center again. Obama has been and continues to be the most divisive President EVER. Sarah will be able to back this up with facts. All of this has been done before. Nothing is new. This goes back to the elites saying Andrew Jackson didn't have what it takes to beat John Quincy Adams. The next time you pull out a 20 look and see whose picture is on it. The same was said about Reagan. Look at the election results of 1980.

Patty Hewes June 9, 2009 6:04 PM

I see that allah from hotair agrees with my assessment.

She needs the republican insiders if she has any national ambitions.

If she feels like taking on the republican establishment then that probably means that she won't be running for reelection.

I hope she can establishment some sort of relationship with some gop insiders. I think she is going to need them because state staffers are just not going to do it for her. She needs the pros who have experience in running campaigns and controlling media cycles.

You Got Good News June 9, 2009 6:05 PM

Can this woman make one complete sentence? Ever? What a bleeping idiot.

You people are nutcases.

Bean Counter June 9, 2009 6:09 PM

Don't ever forget that this isn't the first time she's been ostracized by her own party. She knows what to expect and how to handle it.

Also, re: the Ziegler interview, she knew she was on friendly turf with him. Had this been a state run media interview, she would have been much more on guard and would have responded accordingly.

She's going to be just fine. I've got all the confidence in the world in her political instincts.

ErichNTejas June 9, 2009 6:10 PM

I don't really have a problem with how she answered the Sotomayor question. If she said "yes, I'd nominate her," the base would say "Huh?" Now she could have said "No, but it doesn't have anything to do with her race or gender. I just don't agree with her judicial philosophy." But does anybody believe that's how it would be reported? Of course not. The headline would be "Palin doesn't support female, minority judge." She'd be painted as a racist whose prior compliments of Hillary Clinton and geraldine Ferraro were disengenuous. We all know that's garbage, but the MSM doesn't care. I have zero problem with her saying "I don't know" and just not dealing with it.

BTW wisetrog, I respectfully disagree with your statement that this is Couric all over again. If Palin were actually running for national office, yes she would need to give a more substantive answer. But this really has nothing to do with the Palin right now, and she doesn't need another issue hanging over her head.

PEC June 9, 2009 6:20 PM

Patty - I am not picking a fight with you but one of the idiot Repub Senators said that McCain donors don't like Sarah. Uh, McCain raised almost as much the week after Sarah went on the ticket as the rest of the time combined. These insiders don't get the grassroots and they are shaking in their boots that Sarah will not hire them and she will win.

Think about it. She had a Washington Insider pre-April and they leaked tons of stuff. They leaked E-Mails between Sarah and Greta's husband. They leaked worse than a wet paper sack. She fires the crew and leaks come to a screeching halt. Is that what you want somebody that is going to anonymously talk to the press behind your back? I say hirew people like the person that Skyped Greta. Hire JR, hire RAM (that would be fun), hire a couple of Retired Generals that know the value of loose lips sink ships. Trust me the Military knows tons of Foreign Policy especially at the General Ranks. Plus they know loyalty. OK if Greta will work for her hire Greta and maybe Ziegler. That is about it. Forget the Washington elites. They have failed at Fiscal Policy, Foreign Policy, Constitutional Policy, Liberty Policy. And if the CIA, FBI etc doesn't want to work for her when she is Pres. fire them. I guarantee some loyal real CIA person would love to work for her. They would shoot her straight to and not blow sunshine up her rear end.

juju June 9, 2009 6:27 PM

I think potential candidates rely a lot on the Governors in the various states to help them and to organize for them once they announce they are running nationally. Sarah will have sufficient time to court the DC people she wants when she goes to the various states to campaign for congressman and senators...they will all want her to come.

howIroll June 9, 2009 6:31 PM

Re: the Sotomayor question. Her answer was right on.....Judge Sotomayor has a 17 year career on the bench. Any executive considering her for an appt. must review her record thoroughly as well as interviewing her personally. Gov. Palin has done this every time she has had the responsibility of appointing a justice to the Alaska Supreme Court, and she clearly takes her responsibility to the citizens quite seriously. There's no way she could make a snap decision on a nominee without thoroughly reviewing the background and record of the candidate. Sure, Sotomayor has made controversial statements, but it's incumbent on the executive to interview her and review her actual record on the bench in light of her past rhetoric. She may not be the best candidate---but Gov. Palin wouldn't know that unless she reviewed the resumes and records of other candidates as well.

howIroll June 9, 2009 6:32 PM

Also meant to ask---does anyone have the follow-up to the interview where Ziegler said he was coming back to discuss "the real Sarah Palin as I know her?"

bestbud June 9, 2009 6:32 PM

Vintage Sarah, her with Ziegler....

Can you imagine doing 15-20 minutes on live radio while walking in the airport? She is amazing as usual...

Sarah, In my opinion, will in time be the leader of the Republican Party, if not already so... What class attending the dinner and I thought Newt was good but even with all that knowledge, is not inspiring.... seems to me he and Sarah are very friendly to one another and respect each others talents.

UNDERESTIMATING Sarah has proven to be rather stupid by the elitist of either party, she has the record to prove it...

I realize Alaska is only one state but real people, just like Alaskans, exist in all 50 states...

I have racked my brain trying to imagine how she could stand on street corners with supporters all over America, like she did when running for Governor, talk about grass roots....

If she chooses to run in 2012 I think she would run the most unorthodox grass roots campaign we have ever witnessed... there is no telling what Sarah would or could do, but I definitely think it would very interesting.

Palin: "I think gender, race, should not be any kind of a test to have to pass. I want to make sure we have the best Justices in the country serving on that Supreme Court. And, uh, the way I choose my judges, in the State of Alaska, I'm certainly am not looking through the gender, the race, issue to choose the best. Gotta get some more qualified experience."

Ziegler: "Would you have nominated Sonya Sotomayer based on what you know?"

Palin: "Oh, I'm sure that there are many (missed the word) qualified candidates that, um, should'a, [s?]could'a, been considered. I... I don't know, don't know."

I think it's pretty clear she wouldn't have chosen this particular candidate, but she was trying to be diplomatic about it.

Steven June 9, 2009 7:16 PM

I agree Palin needs to be more polish with her answers, especially to questions she doesn't want to answer. She can't continue to do softball interviews and not expect to be challenged. With that said I do believe she does have enough star power to really make it difficult for the so-called insiders not to support her. The bottomline is that in the primary campaigns, the debates and being on the ground in the those view early states is all that matters in winning. As we saw with Romney, money and ads only can take you so far and keep in mind that McCain refuse to take the insider's money to the level he needed to counteract Obama massive money advantage. Money is crucial in the general election campaign, but not in the primaries. Once in the general election she will have these insiders banging down the door to give her money for influence.

Shockingly, I too, agree with you. The only criticism I have against her is that she seems to catch a bit of the Obama "uhh" syndrome when speaking off the cuff. The only difference being that instead of uhhing and umming, she gets jumbled and stammers a little.

"I will never say anything negative about an American hero."

Equals = Class Act All the Way.

LindaW June 9, 2009 9:06 PM

Great interview, but he didn't ask her about the NRSC/NRCC event and all the hooha about it. Was hoping she would clear up what happened.

I'm also glad that she said, "I will never say anything negative about McCain." She is a class act! As much as I dislike McCain, with her saying that, it makes me love her even more. It shows that she will always be grateful to him and that she knows if she says anything negative, the media will use it like crazy. She is definitely the bigger person.

As for the Sotomayor question, I think she indirectly answered no, because she said that there are other more qualified people out there. Plus she didn't want to risk alienating the Hispanic crowd by saying no when she doesn't have the lady's resume in front of her and she's been attacked for all her judge appointments.

VidSweet June 9, 2009 9:28 PM

OMG! I LAUGHED OUT LOUD when Sarah talked about the lying journalists who don't fact check. She said, "I call them...BUFFOONS!"

HAHA, iless descriptive when she paused, thinking she'd bite her cheek and jsay something diplomatic. But LOVED that she did not mince words. LOL. *Sings*: "Oooo...Sarahcuda!"

Sapwolf June 9, 2009 11:35 PM

The CIA will be fine with Sarah. She probably repects them because they are protecting the country. She has nothing but respect for those who protect America.

However, the State Dept. will hate her because those guys are globalists whose loyalties are not always with the country. State has a history of this kinda stuff.

Sapwolf June 9, 2009 11:43 PM

Hire Mark Steyn. He would fit right into a Cuda administration and be a great press secretary or comm. director.
