Governor Palin in "The Situation Room" With Wolf Blitzer Today
CNN reports:
(CNN) – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is pushing back against critics of the proposed $26 billion natural gas pipeline in her state, saying demand for natural gas is on the rise in the United States.
"By probably 2030, we’ll see about a 40 percent increase in demand for natural gas," Palin told CNN's Wolf Blitzer in an interview set to air at 6 p.m. ET on The Situation Room. "Domestically, we have the supply. The resources are up there in Alaska, and it’s time that we build this infrastructure and flow that very valuable resource into hungry markets throughout the U.S."
Palin's comments come in the wake of questions by some critics of the proposal whether there is an adequate demand for the massive expenditure.
The Alaska governor called those views "short sighted" and said the project is "right for our nation’s security and for our environment, for our economy."
Watch Palin's full interview with Wolf Blitzer this afternoon at 4 and 6 p.m. ET on The Situation Room.

Great..will be looking forward to that interview.
Don't forgeet, Gov. Palin also said she would like an apology for ALL women from Letterman. So we need to keep e-mails, etc. on Letterman situation.
Note to MSM: It’s not Sarah, It’s you!
During those interviews she talks about the pipeline, she talks about the future of the GOP, she talks about the statues of the economy and how the federal government is on the verge of destroying it. Yet the 3 minute part where she “responds to a questions” regarding the Letterman joke, gets the most traction. It’s getting a little more than frustrating to see how the media cuts and slices segments to advance the cause to make it look like Sarah is just whining and can’t let go of the topic.
So far Google Alerts has carried dozens of stories about the interview today, almost exclusively about the comments on Letterboy, but some link to the whole interview. Interestingly enough, the stories are overwhelming against letterboy, and several have been very positive towards Gov. Palin. The comments on the stories are running about 50 50, a lot of 0bots recycling the same old crap from the campaign, and others attacking Bristol. In other words, typical 0bot activity.
Greg, You are a brave brave man. I can't believe how you can read all those filthy stories and comments. I have given up google, I get all my Palin news from here.
Critics are questioning the 'massive expenditure'
` Is this not a PRIVATE BUSINESS ENTERPRISE?
According to CNN Sarah did not commit to running for re-election as Governor or for POTUS in 2012.
Interviewing the hottest politician in America and very possible our next first female president will give MSMBC a couple of numbers of good ratings.
She is in "central Texas".
Damm nobody here knows exactly where??
Neo, they are projecting again. All these days we were talking about massive spending by Obama, so they turn and throw that charge at Sarah. That's what they've been doing since her arrival. Whatever is charged of Obama, they throw back at her, no matter how silly it is in the context.
sorry, I canceled my google alerts a long time ago. Most of those blogs are full of lies...a while back I tried to email these blogs with corrections but they ignore me and sometimes send me back hate mail.
Off topic,
But an interesting read in the Juneau Empire today.
FTA, in part:
"ExxonMobil backs Palin pipeline plan"
"After fighting Alaska's natural gas pipeline plans for two years, ExxonMobil Corp. joined the state-sponsored pipeline effort Thursday, handing Gov. Sarah Palin another victory in her efforts to develop the state's huge natural gas reserves."
"ExxonMobil is North America's largest oil company, and the development aligns it with TransCanada, the continent's largest pipeline company."
"We very much appreciate the leadership demonstrated by the governor, the commissioners and the Legislature to advance this very important project," said Marty Massey, U.S. joint interest manager for ExxonMobil, the nation's largest oil company"

On CNN with Wolf Blitzer Sarah Palin said in the interview:
She's not ready to announce any decision on whether she will seek re-election as governor of Alaska in 2010 or seek Republican presidential nomination in 2012. Sarah said "I'm not definitely going to do anything yet. What I am trying to get done for Alaska right now is to get that Alaska gas line built. We need those energy sources flowing through North America. That's what my focus is."
Wolf Blitzer pressed Sarah if she had made a decision privately about future plans, Palin said, "no decision that I'd want to announce today."
Techno,
We'll agree to disagree about her look today....because I loved it! She looked and sounded like a modern or neo-feminist. That interview was great and I'm one of the folks who cannot wait for this Letterman kerkuffle to pass.
She is in Dallas-according to ADN.
It is better that Gov.Palin now only is taking about this pipeline and other political issues and not about Letterman.
If she is taking about Letterman the media will spin it , as if , she is only taking about Letterman and the people will not know about her victory .(pipeline)
TommyReport:
I thought her look was brilliant-her debeautified look gave her more gravitas I thought and made her appear more intelligent and competent.
her look was just fine.
wolf blitzer is fair, just get rid of that jack caffery loon o.O
Come on boys. If Palin smeared mud on her face and teased her hair she would still look great.
I do like her hair back for these serious MSM interviews, makes her look stronger I think.
She's just the type that no matter her "look" she still looks beautiful. I think it is because her beauty comes not just from the outside but the inside too.
I just watched the interview again and Palin did better not talking with her hands. I'm not throwing stones because I do the same thing too. But she needs to gesture with her hands but keep them smaller. She did great with that on Today.
i just laughed when i read this headline in the adn newsreader:
LEVI JOHNSTON PARTIES IN L.A. HEADED TO HOLLYWOOD?
does that mean nobody wanted to give him a book deal?
OK. I love Sarah for her political views, her moral courage and standing firm on what she believes ("If I die Politically I die" - Sarah Palin) is being taped on my computer. However - She may not no it but she is one of those women (I am male) that could get off a fishing boat after a couple of rough days on the water and look better than most women do on a good thing. Not being a judge of men but most women I know say the same about Todd.
I wonder if the agreement with Wolf Blitzer was that the interview is shown in its entirety with no editing. I hope so. Even the Hannity interview I thought she came off as awkward on the TV interview but it flowed much better on the full interview on-line.
You all have to remember...If it was 7am in NY where the Today show is shot...it was 5am-ish in Texas...it was dark..
I wish I looked that good at 5am..
bet she was mad...Todd and the kids were still sleepin'..LOL
"Well Todd you just lay there and enjoy this nice warm bed...I have to go take on the World again"...
Carmelo:
Central, Texas, is about halfway between Houston and Dallas on I45. I'm not sure that's why it's called "Central," but it wouldn't surprise me. It's also the hometown of the late Lightnin' Hopkins, if you happen to be a blues fan.
Juju or someone with access to the Standard (there's a reason why I don't have access to the Standard, hahahah), could you post or e-mail me Fagan's article today about the pipeline and Hickel's comments? Thanks.
Cruela,
Actually if it is 7am in NY it is 6am in Dallas. With that being said, I can't beleive the Gov is in town and I don't know where she is at. I tried to recognize the scenery behind her, but to no avail.
Love the Guv!
Central Texas = Austin = pallin around with Perry?
Just wonderin'. It would be a great opportunity to listen and learn re: amnesty issue. She's going to have to address it soon.
Below is Hickel's statement:
When Governor Sarah Palin was elected in 2006, we believed she would put Alaska first. But once elected, she put Sarah first.
Because of her national ambitions, she is promoting an agenda that will allow Outside corporations to dominate Alaska’s resources, including our energy and the jobs it provides.
Over my objection, the Governor negotiated a contract last year with TransCanada under AGIA, supported by the legislature, that will now provide ExxonMobil Corporation with half of $500 million of state funds.
I have urged the Governor many times to lead our state in another direction. We should build and own a natural gas pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez and ship Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to world markets.
She has taken another road.
Unless the people of Alaska rise up and oppose the TransCanada -ExxonMobil deal, we will revert to the situation in territorial days when Outside interests controlled our lives.
Alaska must not lose its way as an Owner State. We have created a state based on commonly-owned resources and lands. That model is alive and well in Alaska. It’s an important concept for the world, and we mustn’t lose what the founders of our state created 50 years ago.
----------------------------
So what did Hickle do? I understand he was well loved..but what DID he DO?
5am or 6am...it is still dark 30..
The sun was coming up as the interview ended.
AL B
~ Why in the world would Sarah 'have to address' an amnesty issue?
'Amnesty' (one view or the other) may be an issue for you (are you pro or con) but why must it be an issue for Sarah.
Sarah is much more than capable of picking her own issues. She, surely, doesn't need anyone telling her which other ones to 'address'.
Tommy...

Cruela,
Truth Meter was kicked off the Standard permanently....
If you have access to it, can you post Fagan's article?
Oh, mea culpa. I was thinking of Centerville, Texas, which is between Houston and Dallas. I'm not even sure there's a "Central" Texas (probably, given all the small towns we have). I guess the Today Show just meant that Sarah was in the Central part of Texas. (shoulder shrug).
It's not an issue for Sarah unless she has national ambitions. If she has national ambitions, it certainly is. Gov't policy towards the illegal immigration question is a major issue for many Americans.
I personally know conservatives who refuse to support her because she took the McCain line during the campaign. She'll need to address it at some point. I was speculating that maybe she saw an opportunity while she was down here to listen & learn....all I was saying.
There's a clip of the Blitzer interview on CNN:
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/06/12/palin-unsure-about-re-election-bid-in-alaska/
Cruela, a wiki on Hickel.
And I hate wiki, but this isn't bad.. I don't see any major problems.
The thing he did was when the North Slope fields came up .. he made sure that they were FOR the Alaskans.
He also worked with former Gov Jay Hommond concerning the TransAlaska pipeline.
Enrich... Sarah is probably in Bartlesville.. where quite a few Oil Companies are.

The Alaska Standard
Former Governor Wally Hickel set the stage yesterday for all other opponents of the Alaska gas pipeline sending gas to the lower-48. The strategy is when and if Governor Palin makes progress with the line, accuse her of putting her national political ambitions ahead of those of Alaska’s.
This will be a familiar theme from the “Backbone” crowd in coming days. Our governor has sold us out they will tell us.
We’ll get the same rhetoric from Democrats whose dislike of the oil industry will cause them to block any progress of the line.
Are they correct? Has Governor Palin given up her war on the big three producers because it no longer suits her politically? She clearly rode that anti-oil sentiment to the governor’s mansion.
But now she has to get the pipeline built to further her national political ambitions. She was on the Today Show this morning bragging about the progress of the gas line. Imagine being able to say to the nation I was responsible for building the largest construction project in the history of North America.
There is no doubt a gas pipeline would be a big boost for Palin’s presidential ambitions. So are critics correct when they Palin is putting her national ambitions ahead of Alaska’s? Who cares!
If the governor needs the pipeline to further her national ambitions, then we all win. Palin advances her career and we get a pipeline.
But those who oppose the building of the pipeline down through Canada know full well pitting Palin’s political ambition against the needs of the state is a good way to kill the project.
Here’s the statement Wally Hickel released yesterday.
The stage is set for the battle over the pipeline between now and open season in 2010. Democrats and the anti-oil populist crowd battling Governor Palin and most Republicans. The future of our state’s economy hangs in the balance.
"Central Texas" could be Austin, Tyler, Waco or any other number of places. Dallas is very much North Texas.

Good article about the CNN interview.
She sounds like they talked foreign policy issues.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/06/12/palin/index.html
I'm from MO and am of two minds about Sarah Steelman. I will not vote for Roy Blunt no matter what, so for me it is between Robin Carnahan-D and Sarah Steelman (who may not make it to the general election). Steelman doesn't have Palin's charisma. Steelman says she is for good government but has very little track record there. I could be swayed if she campaigns well but she is waiting an awfully long time to announce...
Does Perry have a ranch near San Antonio or something?
Background of the CNN interview looks ranchy to me.
I am still hoping Palin hops on that tube and floats down the Comal or Guadalupe River to relax before she heads home. Very enjoyable.
I'm surprised that Steelman has embraced the Palin comparision because she hasn't in the past...I guess that's a sign that the political winds are in 'Cuda's favor!
Also, her adviser is John Weaver, a guy who hates Palin....so Steelman's comments are surprising.
I'd vote for Blunt though if I were a Missouri resident.
TommyReport:
Were you bad and got kicked off of sites?
Gee, you sound like such a nice guy!
Surely they didn't object to your conservative views and strong defense of Sarah? ;)
Whoooo! I hope she isn't running for re election!
Blunt a Bush and Tom Delay lackey. Those people ruined our political climate and made the Obama wave possible by forcibly silencing anyone who tried to argue with them. If more people had seen Republican disagreement they wouldn't be so mindlessly angry with Republicans now. Blunt is an epic fail.
If Sarah does run for prez, she's going to get hit with the inevitable lefty lie of "you are in Exxon's pocket and they are bankrolling your campaign" meme.
Knowing our 'Cuda, she'd reply:
"Not in their pocket and the Barbarian grassrooters are bankrolling my campaign, but thanks for asking anyway. BTW, did you know that Exxon creates tens of thousands of jobs for Americans How many jobs does ACORN or S.E.I.U. create today? It's called capitalism, baby. I'm so sorry your history/economics teachers did not teach it to you."
Patty Hewes said...
Whoooo! I hope she isn't running for re election!
Patty, she said that she is not thinking about running YET. No decision has been made. This is just an itelligent SHERMANESCAN statement.
She WIIL RUN for reelection. That announcement should be made by the end of the year to avoid any minimal smear and competition.
She WILL RUN for 2012.
She is just doing great. Keeping America guessing and her haters trembling.
She wants to be president and run against Obama. All her moves are going in that direction. SHE WILL RUN.
Really, if she does not runs for reelection in 2010 people are going to lose faith in her. Her credibility will plummet among conservatives, Reagan democrats, modearates and independents.
America is waiting for her to run for reelection, win big(7 to 16 points) and then announce her 2012 candidacy.
By all counts, this interview is looking to be quite impressive and substantial. If that's the case, expect the Clique to make sure they ignore it completely.
These small minded reporters don't realize that in 2030, 21 years from now, $26 billion will not seem like a large amount of money.
Just like the amount that was spent back "in the old days," today you can't build a decent building for the same amount.
Sarah has wisdom to look to Americas future.
Today's reporters and politicions keep looking back, or are at a stand still.
Sarah is Americas Future.
She has no chance if she runs for re election.
Well look who popped up!
NRO Kathryn Jean Lopez in the Corner just a while ago.
"Say what you will about her (legitimately and not-so): If you have seen the Alaska governor on TV today (on Today), you've seen a woman clearly more comfortable with a national voice."
"Letterman owes his audience an apology, but I think most Corner readers know I cringe at silly chick talk. He doesn't owe all women an apology. And Governor Palin is better on pipelines anyway. Expanding her issue base is the way to some serious viability if she wants it."
Patty Hewes said...
She has no chance if she runs for re election.
Patty what are you doing in a PRO Palin site?
Sarah should win easy in Alaska. Check her polling there. Even when she is not longer in the 90s approval, she maintains over 60% in the worst case.
She should win reelection by more than 5 precentage points.
Alaska is pivotal in her future. A no run or a losing there would mean bye bye first female president.
But Alaskans love her. She will win.
She was in Giddings, TX, or so I heard (via Austin media, multiple reports).
It looks like Levi got some low budget movie offer to play the part of the "good looking guy." I can't see how he makes it in acting because he mumbles too much. It's probably a small role.Oh well, guess Bristol and Tripp will have some support money coming their way. :D
http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/newsreader/story/828609.html
Alaska isn't a place you want to be if you plan on running for president.
Don't tell me: Levi is doing porn.
But seriously, there are too many interests in Alaska that are aligned for the project to be killed just because Sarah sees it as a notch in her political belt. Wally Hickel needs to be asked how in heck he expected the Bullet Line to get built, much less the AGIA line.
For thirty years, Alaskans have waited for someone to get off the dime. Palin has taken affirmative action and has gotten off the dime. She is doing something positive for Alaska and is doing something that will bring tens of thousands of high-paying, value-added jobs to the state!
Registered voters get this in spades. Her opponents do to, which is why they are screaming bloody murder.
Patty:
I beg to disagree. The Beltway G.O.P. has it exactly bass-ackwards. That's what mystified me about watching Noonan and that entire crowd on MSNBC this morning. It's as if they didn't get it.
There is a brewing populist revolt in the country. People are looking at thier dollar being printed to the point at which it won't be able to buy a plastic house on Marvin Gardens. People were promised that the deficit would be cut. Instead? Their grandchildren are being expected to pay for Porkulus and ObamaCare. There is 12 trillion dollars of Red Ink out there as far as the eye can see, and the Administration says that this is good.
People out in the country are going to get sick of this after a few years, and are going to want a huge correction. They will see that Washington is part of the problem, not part of the solution.
Palin is perfectly placed to be part of the solution.
Snowed In....what is in Giddings? Is it near Austin?
I saw a brief clip of the CNN interview. Looking forward to it. Can't figure out why they faced her into the sun causing her to squint. She needed her big a** sunglasses.
Giddings is outside Austin, to the east about 40-50 miles...just a guess on the mileage but it's not far.
Sure would like to know what attracted her to Giddings.....
Well, I'm in Austin...yes Giddings is nearby...ummm it's best known for having a state hospital lol
Palin now pictured on CNN home page in the right sidebar under CNN TV. Quite the Sarahcuda picture! :)
And, joy of joys, the tagline says:
"Palin's perceptive [ooohhh Freudian slip there, I think they meant "perspective" but it actually says perceptive - so is that what Wolf they think of her comments?]
How does she size up President Obama's job so far?"
Perhaps this interview will make Laura Ingraham happier - if she listens to the whole thing? I, too, am disappointed that she was SO uninformed about Gov Palin's last 10 days.
But this means that CNN is promoting this as a serious policy interview and not a Letterman feud thing.
Alaska is the perfect place for Palin to be in as she positions for 2012. Alaska is at the forefront of energy policy, national security, missile defense and so many important issues. It may be a small state as far as population but it is one of our most important states.
Sarah has now made this Alaska Natural Gas Pipeline one of her signature projects. As Matt Lauer said, we will be watching to see what happens. If she can achieve success on this project, then her stock will rise. She needs to oversee it and make sure that jobs are created before she takes a stab at a 2012 run.
That is why you see all her political critics coming out of the woodwork to knock AGIA.
America already knows who Sarah is. Sarah just needs for more people to take her seriously as you can hear her critics say. Reelection will help with that. She can take trips to the lower 48 like she did this week from time to time.
Take the extraneous Wolf out of my above comment ...
Oh, and did I mention that Jeri Thomson is going to be on Hannity's radio show? I think I heard him say radio and not TV.

Patty I'm convinced you are not a Sarah supporter. Are you a spy from the HOffpost??
Obama was in Chicago, the capital of corruption and crime. He defeated McCain, a war hero.
Being governor of Alaska or Hawaii only implies you are not from the elite. Many people likes that.
The attraction Sarah Palin generates is because she is from Alaska. Small town, middle class. Some one who rose to prominence from humble grounds.
If Sarah were from New York, she would have been another Gerardine Ferraro!! I bet cha!
It will be no problem being from Alaska and run for POTUS.
We have jet planes now, have you noticed that?
One hour she can be in Anchorage, next hour she can be in Dallas.
Can we read anything about her election intentions from the fact that she essentially removed SarahPac from DC and brought it home to AK? Pam Pryor is still in DC to keep her informed of what's happening on that turf. But operations are centered in AK. At least for now.
Perhaps only transitional. But perhaps not.
Can. not. wait. to. see. Sarahpac. numbers.
Giddings is on one of the 2 main routes between Houston and Austin. The route thru Giddings puts you in the north side of Austin. It's near Smithville, where "Hope Floats" was filmed.
Today is TX trivia day...LOL.
Extensive excerpts from the Wolf interview here if you want to compare how it looks on the page to how it sounds when she speaks:
http://thepage.time.com/quotes-from-palins-interview-with-wolf-blitzer/
The only thing that would have made this morning's interview better is if she would have mentioned how many jobs this pipeline project is going to save or create.
Maybe she is there to meet with Bush??
Where was she late yesterday for the agreement and signing of the pipeline??
What I can't figure out, why would she fly here kids to Texas for just a couple of days. Do you think she may be going to the Gov. Conference??
bush 41's birthday?
Sarah looked like she was on a ranch, like she was at someone's house. Is she the guest of someone? Where is Perry's ranch? I should know since I am from Texas but I don't. Did not look like she was outside a hotel to me in the CNN clip.
Thing is if she is in Giddings she is VERY close to Brenham, Texas. Now, all you Texans know how important THAT is....good grief she HAS to be eating Blue Bell Ice Cream today!!!
the guv also tweeted about it here:
http://twitter.com/AKGovSarahPalin/status/2135482671
The population of Giddings is only about 5,000. Doubt there's much in the way of accommodations there unless it's someone's home or more likely ranch.
no more letterman talk.
she made her point.
its time to talk 100% POLICY
AK Report:
Agree 100%!
People, this looks like to be a policy interview, so don't let anyone ignore it. Bombard them until they do post it.
Agreed. Doesn't mean we have to stop though! :)
Actually, Sarah will run and win reelection for Governor.
She needs the standing that running for Governor allows her. She will close out AGIA and proceed to campaign for lower life forms (Congresscritters) in 2010 and get her own reelect secured.
2010-2011 Legislative Session will be about bipartisan bills concerning AGIA, Education, Bullet Line, and Transportation, plus budget.
She will RESIGN after the Legislative session, leaving the Governor's Mansion in hands of her ally,
Sean Parnell (my assumption is that there may have to be a Special Election for Governor in 2012), and run 24/7 for POTUS.
All this assumes that two people stay out of the 2012 mix: David Petraeus and Jeb Bush. If either one of them get in the race, she stays in Juneau. Sarah is not stupid enough to try and run against Petraeus or Jeb. Either Petraeus or Jeb will manhandle Teh Won in 2012, bet on this. In that eventuality, Sarah will stay in the Governor's mansion through 2012 and then run for Senate when Lisa steps down (2016 is out of cycle for Begich, methinks).
She will either be POTUS in 2012, Governor till 2016 and Senator after that (probably POTUS in 2020) with a possible spell as Energy Secretary under Petraeus or Jeb.
This is how it will play out, given the various scenarios I see. It all depends on what Jeb Bush and Petraeus decide to do. I know this is a Sarah site, and I am in favor of a Palin Presidency, but understand that Jeb Bush's reputation in the Republican Party is transcendent, and Petraeus is largely responsible for winning the Iraq War.
Yes. I know about Jeb's last name. But by 2012, people will want to put Himmler in office instead of the guy we have there now. Bet on this.
However, both men are silent right now, and Obama has saddled Petraeus (deliberately I should add) with the resolution of the Afghan war while giving him too few troops to finish the job. Shades of Johnson and Westmoreland in 1966. Jeb hasn't done anything else since dropping out of that disastrous "Listening Tour" deal that someone at the RNC thought up.''
Other than Sarah, these are the only two men worth watching. Mittens, Huckster, the rest (with the possible exception of Bobby Jindal) are simply pretenders. No one could have been impressed by Mittens' campaign acumen last year, except the clueless Beltway GOP, which continues to underimpress.
One last thing: do not underestimate the importance of yesterday for Sarah's long term career within the party. Energy is going to be a huge, huge issue going forward. Next summer, oil is going to be north of $100.00 a barrel, and Sarah will look like the Prophet from Wassilla. I know one thing, the Energy Industry has cast its vote.
PPP has its monthly Obama matchup poll coming up next week....
She is on fire. I think she LIKES these interviews. Love her!
WOW, Sarah is ON FIRE!! She is kicking major ass. I LOVE these interviews. This is the REAL Sarah Palin. Damn what could have been if McCain and the idiots around him had actually let her speak her mind..things might have turned out differently. Oh well, good things come to those who wait..Sarah in the White House has a nice ring to it. She is an amazing human being..She just tells it like it is..GO SARAH GO!!
Sarah is unbelievable with Wolf and I just only saw the first half. She has criticized Obama more vehemently in the last 15 minutes than the entire GOP membership in Congress has in the last 4 and 1/2 months.
Wow!
She's 2 for 2 today.
Killer interview w/Blitzer. This one more policy heavy than the Letterman thing, but she gets more licks in there as well.
I love her boldness and straightforward statements.
This is some kind of leader, folks.
Wolf is good to her. He feeds her questions that she pounces on.
By the way, look at the timing. She got the david lecherman thingy over in the morning and she's giving this impressive policy oriented interview now, so that when people talk about it, the lecherman thing won't be a distraction.
AWESOME interview with Wolf. That is the way to conduct an interview - fair and unbiased. Wolf was very impressed by her answers! I think Sarah talks so fast because she is very smart and her mind works at a rapid pace. That must be why she is able to multi-task and accomplish so much each day.
I think most of the pundits and media reporters/commentators are not used to politicians answering so quickly and honestly. Most of them can't keep up with Sarah's rapid line of thought and think she is rambling when she is actually hitting on all cylinders.
If Sarah doesn't go for POTUS in 2012 I really want her to take away Begich's senate seat in 2014. I'll support her either way.
i didn't get to see it. was it good? how long was it?
This interview was a major, repeat MAJOR, triumph for Palin. CNN as an institution is partial to the Democrats without being flagrantly in the pocket of the Democratic Party. Wolf gave a substantive, critical interview-as substantive as Katie's last year, and Palin came out smelling like a rose.
If she keeps doing this, she'll only get better. She needs to get w/ CATO, Heritage, et al.
Wiating for Wolf Blitzer thread and video.
The interview was in two parts that totaled about 15 minutes. It was very good, and in fact her entire time here in the lower 48 has been great for her.
One telling thing about the interview is the satellite feed gets scrambled in the second portion. The interview was entirely unedited and I would bet that's going to be the Palin Way from here on out.
I think it was Nancy that came up with the Palin Way and I like it!
Wolf treated Sarah with respect..it was an awesome interview. The McCain campaign screwed up and they KNOW IT. If they had just allowed her to speak her mind, things might have turned out differently. Sarah HAS to run for President..she's GOT IT..She knows what is best for this country and both of the interviews were just AWESOME.
I hadn't realized that wolf was a"cuda" lover...he sure gave her some wonderful soft pitches which she hit out of the ball park. he wasn't in my view at all contentious. A great day for us- actually a great couple weeks
Follow the money. I think CNN is still in the tank for Obama but with its ratings sinking into the abyss, and with Sarah gaining major prestige over the past week, I think the decision has been made if we can't stop her, let's jump on the bandwagon for awhile until she becomes a direct threat to Obama in 2 years. Wolf conducted a very professional interview.
Haven't seen all the interview yet but I bet it was her conditions that it be unedited.
The MSM knows Sarah means big ratings, they will play by her game. Funny, it is like your kids. They get in trouble and you set up new harder ground rules. Once again Sarah's mom experience is paying off. The MSM acted badly so now she has these rules to control them better. They will be kissing her rear soon, just watch.
Folks, I will soon have an anxiety attack. Where's the new thread for Wolf?
ShermanCT, I think IBD used the Palin Way when talking about America's energy needs.
OT:
Sarah has 31000 on Twitter now, it has really been shooting up yesterday and especially today....new fans perhaps?
If your at home and have CNN they are showing the interview again right now.
she rocked the first part. waiting on second.
She was on fire in the interview. Great to see her chattin with Blitzer.
When are we gonna get it up lol becuz I missed a bit of the beginning
If there was any question who speaks for the republican party, it was answered today, loud and clear.
I would like to see Newt be Palin's chief of staff.
second was okay. she gave a better response to letterman on the today show.
btw wolf is pussy-cat but he usually is.
Waiting for the Kennedy jokes to start in 3..2..1
Congressman Patrick Kennedy once again in treatment for his drug and alcohol addictions. I guess we should be grateful he hasn't killed anyone while drunk.
Great first half. In the second half I thought she got a little ahead of herself on missile defense and it could have been a little better. She has just so much she wants to say and her mind works a mile a minute. But all in all another good interview.
Great interview. Both the CNN and the Today show were great. McCain's campaign "experts" really knew what they were doing when they hid her away from the media (sarc.).
jimr3,
I think she did fine in the second part but the technical difficulties were not helpful. A cynical person would think the technical problems were no accident. But, I am not a cynical person.
ummm.....am I living in the bizarro world today? Did I just hear Kathleen Parker talking positively about the Guv's chances in 2012 and basically praising her in a lot of areas?
Ok, I've only had one beer, so I'm not drunk, but I could swear I just heard Kathleen Parker on a panel w/Wolf and she was actually complimentary to Gov. Palin. Somebody please tell me I was imagining it...
howIroll, THANK YOU! So relieved to know it wasn't just me.
I think Sarah is in Texas to cosy up with the Bushes who have all sorts of connections. They must've neutralized the Clique. Price tag: Jeb Bush to be Sarah's VP. Kinda like Reagan and Poppy. The Bush dynasty will never end.
wisetrog...Sarah is somewhere near Giddings, TX. It's not that close to Crawford and the Bush family is in Kennebunkport, Maine anyway. Bush41 did his parachute jump today there, and I saw Bush43 in a picture with him afterwards.
I think Gov. Palin might be taking a little R&R this weekend in the Austin area, which includes Giddings and a few other towns. Her family is with her and there are lots of water sports along the Colorado and Guadalupe Rivers.
Hope she's getting a few days to relax.
Damn Fox All-Stars only focused on what they called the Letterman "fued". Charles Krauthammer said Governor Palin was right but you don't get into a fight with a jester. Well hell Charles, the 62 year old jester used her 14 year old child in a sex joke on national TV. What would you do?
The blonde woman on the panel, I don't know who she was, but she said, for Governor Palin to expand her base with moderates she is going to have to start talking about substantive issues to have any kind of a future on the national stage and not by talking about things concerning her family. I guess the All-Stars did'nt see the entire interview.
I think all these people are making the same mistake because apparently NBC didn't post the entire interview on their website. Looks like they had a separate snippet with only the Letterman talk. I found out about it on Ace.
Will they talk about her Wolf Blitzer interview tomorrow? I'm hoping at least the conservatives won't bury it. We can measure the sincerity of these people by that.
Gov. Palin has decided to hang out here in Texas and she's gonna relax in...Giddings?!?! There's nothing in Giddings except three cows and a highway patrol officer named Wayne. HAS SHE LOST HER DAMN MIND??
Ok, ok, just had the raz the Guv a little. But hey, Giddings is near La Grange...maybe she can hang out with ZZ Top. (actually would have preferred it if she had done the interview from Cut 'n' Shoot...yes that is the name of a Texas town).
She was at CNN's DC news bureau in Rosslyn on Tuesday. She was visiting with Wolf and others. They probably set up the interview for after the announcement---plus she had a chance to chat him up thereby "softening" him up a bit. Good ploy.
Will someone please post the cnn video soon, I can't watch from their website.
Erich, there are no accommodations in Giddings. But there may be some nearby.....
I think it may be R&R for her and that's great. Who knows where she may be next week....maybe herding congresscritters back in DC on the pipeline stuff. LOL. Maybe the Western Governors meeting...who knows.
Erich, the interviews were done outside at what looked like a very large ranch. She is probably being hosted by someone in Giddings. Any high rollers out that way?
Maybe Giddings is a hideaway of a supporter, like Fred Malek, where she can hang out with her entire family without media circus
If you don't want me to go on with more idiotic conspiracy theories, post the video soon.

From the Sarah Palin blog:
This is the way Matt Tobey of Comedy Central introduced this clip on their web site. Remember, these are hos words - not mine.
POSTED BY: Matt Tobey
Throughout the show's week in Iraq, The Colbert Report has featured taped messages from two former Presidents, Bush I and Clinton, and one current President, Obama. Well, last night, they officially covered all their bases with an appearance by a future President.*
Howl:
There probably is a ranch out by Giddings. I don't know of any tycoons or bigwigs with ranches out there, but could be. It's tranquil, no one around, Republican country. The hill country is prettier, but it might be a little too close to Austin for Palin's comfort. Just driving around in Austin can be painful, seeing all the Obama stickers. I'm just waiting for the day to put a bumper sticker on my car that says "How's that Hope 'n' Change working out for ya?"

Re: "Erich, the interviews were done outside at what looked like a very large ranch. She is probably being hosted by someone in Giddings. Any high rollers out that way?"
I live in Houston and have driven through Giddings many times in years gone by (although not lately). I would be shocked if there is a home or large ranch in the immediate vicinity of Giddings that would be owned by a Republican highroller.
Olbermann going nuts defending Letterman in front of his three listeners.
Deeply pathetic. I say again. The man is Ted Baxter.
"Offence not defense"
She's awesome.
It's a crime if she doesn't run 2012.
Great interview! Governor Palin is the real deal. She is our next President; she's my President already!
Perfect interview. Sarah hit a homerun here.
Section 9:
Olby reminds me of Baghdad Bob. ;)
Keith Olbermann needs to do everyone a favor and jump off a cliff, seriously, he is wasting precious air. Secondly, someone posted on FreeRepublic a rumor going around that next week, Tina Fey will show up on Letterman's show, pretending to be Sarah to chat with Letterman, if she does this, her career is done, it would just show how low that woman can go for ratings and admiration. And Letterman, if he decides to do this, well, I wouldn't be shocked, since he knows he will never be fired, he has the full support of the liberal media, the White House, and the liberals..he can basically get away with anything.
It look to me she was at southfork where Dallas was shot...
If you want to convince skeptics of your national security credentials talk about going on offense rather than always playing on defense. Sarah just hit a home run.
The closest to "central" in Texas is Waco. And if she's down there, she's hanging around with the folks who are in the trenches. Right now Texas is having to call a special session because of liberals who want to stymie the will of the people with their own fascoliberal agendas. What we all really need to do is gear up and hit the internet regarding Obamacare. If you think the TARP's were bad, wait until you get a load of this mess. By the way, complaints to CBS regarding the Bitter Old Man that on opposite of Conan can be sent by going to the feedback section. Be sure to mention that you will be contacting advertisers as well.
Meghan McCain just wrote an article on The Daily Beast about Sarah Palin. I guess her vow to never utter her name is now broken; she defends her:
“I am certain that David Letterman would never make a joke about Malia being raped by Eliot Spitzer or refer to the first lady as looking “slutty.”
http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-06-12/david-lettermans-double-standard/?cid=hp:blogunit1
I hope and pray to GOD Sarah does not have Bush as her VP. Go with Sanford instead.
Am I the only conservative here at C4P that is sick and tired of the Bush family?
Section9,
Please have you no humanity?
I'll take Giuliani over Jeb any day.
Now, if his name was Jeb Rockford, I'd be 100% onboard.
But can't we just put the final nail in the Bush and Clinton families forever?
Please, I'm begging now.
I've been voting for Bushes since 1972. No more Bushes.
No Sanford, either...but that's just me.
Rudy is one of the only high profile Republicans to have the stones to give a full-throated defense of the governor. I hope he runs for governor of NY, as I live upstate.
Nope. If Tina Fey does an appearance on Letterman as Sarah and does her full-metal pageant walk routine, Sarah needs to press ignore and move on.
Remember Alinsky's Rules For Radicals: Ridicule is the Most Potent Weapon in Politics.
These people are using Alinsky's playbook, and, using the ground rules Sarah herself set down, it's allowed! Sarah's the adult. Sarah's the politician. She has to be the Big Girl and say that at least she's contributing to Tina's kid's college fund or somesuch nonsense.
As long as they don't go after the kids, it's okay. Palin knows this, and she'll have to laugh it off and be the Strong and Invulnerable Politico about this.
There are times when you have to defend your kids, and there are times when you have to sit and take it. When Tina Fey satirizes you, you have to find the best way to be gracious about it, while trying to point out graciously that she depends on you for income.
Sorry Sapwolf, I know how you feel. I'm just giving you my best level of analysis. Jeb Bush was a fantastic governor here in Florida. Don't believe me? Ask Narciso. He has a huge, huge rep in the Party nationwide. If Palin were a man, she'd be Jeb.
This video is from firelake. An extremist liberal site.
You folks should upload it on C4P...
I was hoping Rudy runs for Governor of New York. Paterson is terrible. Any one who runs will beat paterson. I am hoping it is Rudy....
C4P - We need to get the word out about Tina Fey and David Letterman planning to launch further attacks on Sarah and her family. I just read that Free Republic post (I guess MSNBC is pushing this). Letterman and Fey will have gone too far. If this is true, women and men of all political backgrounds need to take a stand against Fey and Letterman.
Meghan McCain:
Why is it funny to make fun of a 14-year-old girl, no matter who her mother is, let alone that of one of the most prominent female politicians in the country?
The pipeline.
Wolf, Whio is going to pay for all this?
What a moron!
If Letterman does something like that, MHO is that Palin should simply ignore it and not comment. This guy is digging his own grave; no need to throw him a rope. Besides, the one thing worse than being hated is being irrelevant.
Hickel's statement:
We have created a state based on commonly-owned resources and lands. That model is alive and well in Alaska. It’s an important concept for the world, and we mustn’t lose what the founders of our state created 50 years ago.
_____________________________________
Every time she speaks she talks about the resources and land belong to the People of Alaska...It seem to me that Gov. Hickel is upset that she is not doing what he wants her to...he backed her ...it like he did that so he would have some one in office to do his bidding...
Tina Fey may just be a rumor to help keep his ra Can you delete that post??
ra=ratings
Tina Fey has a great thing going for herself right now... I can't imagine her being so stupid as to get anywhere near what has turned into a radioactive nightmare for Letterman.
If she does... well... at least we'll have another interesting week of TV/blog-reading.
I hope this is a rumor 'cause I though Fey actually kinda' had respect for Palin and really wanted to stop with the impersonation.
I really hope this isn't true.
Ok, I have not read anything from the Yankees team owner or A-Rod that they found the statement by Letterjerk offensive.
I would think that they would comment to place and opinion.
ALSO-
The media has had its day- they will spin it- takes away from the Pipeline, do not give Letterman any more time- the people will form an opinion and take it from there...
Sarah 2012!
First time Meghan makes sense , thats welcome.
Obama and his war room know that the only hope they have to beat Sarah in 2012 besides ACORN is to maintain the 'Tina Fey', bimbo, incompetent template (Paul Begala tried that today on The Situation Room by accusing Sarah of not being conversant with Obama's Cairo speech). They cannot allow the perception to resonate throughout America that Sarah is as or more able, capable or as intelligent as Obama; she must always be delegitimized or marginalized. Having Tina Fey appear on David Letterman would be Obama's attempt to regain the high ground. However, because of the transformative events in the last nine days that bus may have already left the station and travelling to fast at a breakneck speed to ever bring it back to its original stall.
though = thought
The backstage pic of Fey and Palin looked friendly, Fey said Bristol volunteered to babysit Fey's kid and it sounded like Fey was touched by that, Fey's in-laws are Repubs and met Palin at a rally. At least these are all stories I read during the campaign.
And Fey said nice things in her TV Guide article. Again, I'd be really disappointed. But then, I don't think Fey really cares what I think. ;)
Speaking in a crass business sense, 30 Rock is over for the season, so doing Palin wouldn't up ratings for her show.
I don't think Fey would do that , but didn't she or SNL do some jokes on Sarahs kids?
ErichNTejas wrote:

Erich, thanks for that. I like C4P, but I normally only get belly laughs like that from Ace's Place!
If she can do impressive interviews from here on out, all the negative press from the past will fall squarely into the 'all publicity is good publicity' catagory, because it has offered her a level of fame needed to win nationally. Only if the media can keep feeding the monster does it remain a net negative. That is why I don't think there is any way she will run for a second term. Getting henpecked day in and day out by comb-over greaseballs and backwater bloggers trying to make a name for themselves is beneath her. She's going national. Whether as a candidate or a power broker.
Sarah was awesome on "Today" and equally on fire with Blitzer. He was very fair and even tossed over a few kudos.
I think she is on her game but does talk a bit fast. Being a bit slower and saying 3 things instead of 5 things fast will make viewer retention go up.
Great that she nailed BHO on his non-visible support of Israel and his weakness on missile defense. Guns blazing for her.
She's awesome.
As for 2012, she will do the right thing.
I go back to the thousands of people she touched throughout New York state just before this latest attack happened. I think she's got thousands more in her corner from last weekend and now they're solidifying their support because they now take these attacks personally since they've met the gov, her husband, and daughter.
Hell has acquired a second layer. Huckster told Hannity that people taking potshots at the guv are only endearing people to her even more.
That was very nice of him, but not for one minute would I trust him as far as I could throw him.
I just want to give her some sunglasses throughout this entire interview.
The squinting pains me!
To Section9:Jeb bush is dead in the water because unfortunately his last name is poison to the GOP.
I can't even believe you compared hime to the cuda....not even close, they are very different. I'm not knocking him or his record, just don't think the GOP wants to have another Bush vs. Obama election like 2008.
"Offense rather than defense'
A classic Sarah Palin quote.
Techno or whoever,
What were Parker and Begala's reviews of her interview? Did Begala say anything positive? We've got to get video considering that Parker praised it.
@bitterclinger
Yeah I find it kinda odd that all of a sudden NOW Huckabee is in Sarah's corner, and defending her. When just a few months ago he was laughing at what Katie Couric was saying about Sarah, but now isn't laughing at Letterman's comments. Either hell has frozen over or he finally realizes that Sarah could beat his ass easily in a primary and he wants to get in her good graces
TommyReport:
Begala still playing the 'bimbo' card by claiming that Sarah wasn't conversant on Obama's Egypt speech and implying she is a lightweight. However, you could see the worry on his face. He realized that there was a possibility that 'the lack of intelligence, bimbo card' may have left the bottle today and that it may be impossible for Obama to ever put it back in again.
Techno,
What evidence did he cite to make this claim that she was not conversant with the Cairo speech?
Tommy: No evidence whatsoever. Snarky comment to the effect that "her eyes glazed over".
Shows you the extent of the MSM spin machine.
Bitterclinger:
I wasn't kidding.... :)
BTW, Sarah might sometimes talk a little too fast...maybe that's a product of youth. Bobby Jindal, whom I also like, talks about ten times faster than her and moves all over the place.
Thanks for posting this interview as well. She did a great job. This really has been an interesting and I think pretty good couple of weeks for the Guv.
I hope and pray to GOD Sarah does not have Bush as her VP. Go with Sanford instead.
Am I the only conservative here at C4P that is sick and tired of the Bush family?"
Sapwolf
No, trust me, you're not alone. My intense dislike of GWB grows daily.
Gutless wonder who couldn't fart w/out Rove.
I hope he stays in obscurity in Midland for the rest of his days.
Jeb has NO chance. That you can take to the bank.
Wow, Meghan McCain is taking a beating over at Daily Beast from the comments posted. They're merciless; I almost feel sorry for her.
jimr3 -- I stopped watching the Fox "allstars" last August when the supposed conservative one said any Republican who votes again TARP "is an idiot."
TommyReport:
By implying that Sarah had not read Obama's Cairo speech or did not know its content.
However she stood up proudly and with resolve for Israel. That Begala could not deny.
ErichnTejas:
Gee I counted 5 cows when I drove through Giddings the other day. ;0
As my grandmother used to say "One of the cows found a calf."
Perhaps Giddings is kind of a cover. Maybe they are closer around Brenham, there are some nice spreads out there. Plus...BLUE BELL! Seems like Texas in June would not be the time to be here though, what was Meg thinking? She has to be meeting with someone, it is so hot now, I would bail to cooler climate if I was her and come back in the Spring when the bluebonnets are coving the hill country..beautiful
Great IBD Article Up On Sarah's Pipeline Deal. A must read!
In Part:
"Pipeline, Not Pipe Dream: Credit Palin"
"Energy: Exxon Mobil's surprise decision to join Trans-Canada on a vast Alaska gas pipeline project is a big step toward making the U.S. self-sufficient in domestic energy. By defying naysayers, Sarah Palin is now vindicated."
"It must be sweet vindication for Alaska's governor. Against critics who said her 1,712-mile natural gas pipeline project would never get off the ground, who should the project bag but the "big gorilla" of American energy — Exxon Mobil."
[
"It's a big vote of confidence in Palin's top project from a by-the-books company known for its rigid investment standards."
[
"Obama administration officials who had nothing to do with this, like Energy Secretary Ken Salazar, rushed to claim credit too. What better vote of confidence could there be?"
[
"I think it's very shortsighted" to assume that "market conditions are going to stay as they are today," Palin told CNN. In an interview with IBD last July when gasoline hit $4 at the pump, she noted that if drilling had started in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge just five years ago, when policymakers were dismissing the idea of $100-a-barrel oil, "we wouldn't be in our predicament today."
"This is another in a series of successful steps to build the world's largest commercial construction project. For this, credit Palin. Despite the too-hip ridicule of comedians like David Letterman, she was the one who got the pipeline past Alaska's legislature, something governors had tried — and failed — to do for 30 years."
[
"For Americans tired of high energy prices and dependence on foreign energy, Palin's hitting some very big home runs indeed."

Well, I hope she is staying at the ranch of an Exxon excutive. Just to royally piss off the EcoNazis.
When she campaigns, I hope she has an Exxon patch on every article of clothing.
Until Lenin (eh, I mean Obama) takes all of our cars away from us, we'll all need Exxon.
Where does Chuck Norris live?
So Begala credited her for the Israel stuff?
TommyReport:
Begala ignored it and went to another topic.
But you could tell by the tone of his voice that he views Sarah with disdain, not worthy of his attention.

What the hell is wrong with Sarahpac? The sarahpac site is about as exciting as well watching PBS... They should fix the site and add videos. Palin made many speeches and they should up.
Finally had time to watch the CNN interview....
Not sure what to say...
Don't know the best way to put this...
Basically....
Sarah Palin Pwned Obama.
Was a thing of beauty.
Patty,
So she does nothing with the site and it's still the most visited site, hahahah.
Imagine when she starts getting things going...
Patty,
We'll have to also agree to disagree on this interview...I loved it. Sure she wasn't as fluent on the foreign policy stuff but I thought she bsed it enough to where she got some good soundbites out about defending Israel and staying on offense rather than defense. You won't have a good answer all the time but you have to be able to bs 100% of the time.
Her fluency on energy is pretty strong...I can see her going head to head with Salazar in a debate right now and just stomping him.
I don't think any republican or obama could trump palin on energy issues in a 2012 debate.
sarahpac numbers will be huge. imo
Patty,
I agree with you on the SarahPac site. It sorely needs updating. But I suspect that will be happening in the near future. But as is, the visits to the site are most impressive.
SO UPSETTING!!! On Yahoo's frontpage there was a video link w/ the title "Palin's Awkward Interview" or something. It was regarding the Letterman thing.
She gave a great interview this morning and YAHOO chooses to call it "AWKWARD"????
I was sooo steamed when I saw that. And they freeze-framed the clip of her with her eyes darted to the side when she was describing Letterman taking a few days to come up w/ that excuse.
I am SO mad!
Chuck Norris' place is at Navasota (about 70 miles west of Houston on Hwy 6).
She should demand an unmoderated debate in 2012.
The format of the Presidential debates is hokey anyway, needs scrapped and re-done.
LindaW,
Yea I saw that, its crap. Boycott Yahoo as well.
jimr3, what are the visits like to the site? Some of us are pretty lame ;)

thanks...sorry I must've missed her post.
Well, Sarah's enemies can still try and play the "bimbo" card. As the public starts to see her in more interviews and public speaking events then that "bimbo" strategy will be an epic fail.
Patty,
In do time, Gov. Palin might not run. But everything is lining up that she will. The left is running scared. The Letterman flap has scared the left to death. It has given Gov. Palin the platform to smack down a pervert that most women don’t like in the first place. Every channel is talking about Gov. Palin 2012. All you have to do is plan the seed and it will grow. Gov. Palin is wining this battle with the help of C4P and others.
Salute C4P and others.
Section9:
Your scenarios are mostly well thought out on Sarah's future. However, I think Sarah will not be worried about Petraeus. The everyday folks are not very familiar with him or his ideas.
Yes, he had a fine showing in Iraq when they finally let him go a it, but 2-3 years from now is a long time for folks to remember all the details and all. Sarah is here in our country and is building a strong record. She is building momentum and more and more in the MSM are seeing her as a real threat.
Also, People will not routinely drive 4-6 hours to hear him speak or walk in a charity event, etc. No way. He does not have the magnetism.
Jeb is a different story. He has history, family, conservative ieals, etc. But he does not draw people like she does. He is very well connected with money though.
It will be interesting.
If Sarah continues to build momentum at this rate, she could be an absolute monster! She is starting to separate from the others now. It is evident and measurable.
The othe folks like Mitten, Huckster, and the rest just don't have the issues in their states that will draw them into the national picture as much as Sarah does. For example:
1. The energy issue is huge for this country
2. Missle defense will gt bigger each day Obama is in office as he is showing his naivete and lack of conviction to go after NK and Iran.
3. Oil prices will keep her in the news if prices stay high. She keeps Alaska money in order.
4. Obama will continue to tear this country apart in terms of values and the economy.
It will be interesting that is for sure.
We know she moves the meter and the press loves the ratings they get when they out anything about her on. That has not worked well for her in the past all the time. I believe the media will see her more and more to be a power to be dealt with.
And also with Rush singing her praises does not her to keep her name out front. I think she turned a corner psychologically and just has made up her mind to go for it. If she dies, she dies. She has come to the precipice.
It's "awkward" for them to acknowledge that someone sees right through the rigamarole. Little touches like "He who shall be obeyed" reminding people of Obama's past promises that we know come with an expiration date. Latest example, gays betrayed by the DOMA appeal to the US Supreme Court.
