Grassroots Webathon Day 2: Shout Out from the AFT!
Keep up the great work, barbarians! As you can see we've updated our graph above, and Sinistar has been working like a galley slave in the back room tallying up the numbers from the e-mails we've been getting. Not only are we getting the word on a lot of new contributions, many people have been letting us know about their previous contributions so we can include them in the total.
Keep it up!
Continue giving what you can afford personally. If you haven't yet reached your $150 limit, see if you can afford to give a little more. If you have reached your limit, see if your spouse or children or siblings can donate. Spread the word by e-mail to your family and friends.
More importantly, help to get the word out! Leave links to us in blog comments, and continue to send tips to MSM organizations. Keep reminding Bill O'Reilly! Keep hitting the points of contact for conservative media outlets.
Don't forget your local media...you saw during Governor Palin's visit to Auburn, NY, that they are much more sympathetic and in touch with ordinary Americans than the MSM. Nearly every community has a local newspaper website, and most have a local conservative talk radio host like Eddie Burke. Call and e-mail them, let them know about this campaign!
Via KTUU, some exciting news - our effort has been recognized by Kristan Cole, the trustee of the Alaska Fund Trust!
On Monday, the Web site Conservatives4Palin launched a one-week fundraising Web-a-thon encouraging donations to the governor's legal trust fund.
[...]
As for the Web-a-thon, fund trustee Kristan Cole says it appears to be having an impact.
"Any time the governor is mentioned, the volume goes up tremendously and so the volume -- given this new information going out this morning, and the videos that are on the Web site -- we have seen the volume go up tremendously as we do anytime the governor is mentioned," Cole said in a phone interview Monday.
"We are happy to help in any way that we can," Rebecca Mansour, one of the site's main contributors, said. "This is a completely grassroots effort. We are just trying to get the message out just to help them advertise."
We've also got our first MSM mention of the webathon, from Amanda Carpenter of The Washington Times:
Bloggers at the Web site www.conservatives4palin.com have volunteered to create an independent Web-a-thon unaffiliated with the governor to encourage people to donate to her legal defense fund, the Alaska Fund Trust.
"She was treated unfairly as an honest public servant," said Conservatives4Palin.com blogger Rebecca Mansour, a writer from Los Angeles. "If we are going to encourage ordinary citizens to run for public office who aren't millionaires and come from an average background like the Palins, we have to step up and say this is not appropriate to target politicians with frivolous complaints."
We still have a long way to go, but we won't give up! To paraphrase Kyle Reese:
Listen, and understand. Ordinary barbarians are out there. They can't be bargained with. They can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And they absolutely will not stop, ever, until that legal debt is paid off!
UPDATE: We've been noticed by the Associated Press (h/t TommyReport).

When I first saw the 11% graph, I had to peel my eyes. Couldn't believe it. Wow, we're getting really somewhere as a team. Go barbs!
BTW, can we get an idea of how much of these previous donations? Just to brag about the fundraising prowess of C4P. One day 54,000? I think the RNC will finally notice.
"Remembering a bad birthday party." Too funny!
Great job guys!
I posted the KTUU story over at Lucianne.com
Impressive! I can't give but in my own small way I help spread the message.
Start typing those emails to Rush, Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly right now. Send them early and often. If this webathon gets mentioned on just one of those whows, we'll have our goal very quickly. Don't assume someone else will do it. Take control yourself. The more emails they receive, the better our chances!

11% on day one is awesome.
So does the 11% include the previous donations?
Does anyone know how much was donated previously before the Webathon started?
Way to go!! I feel left out as I maxed out on the first day of the fund.
BTW, is it wrong to think that the Gov. could use a spokesperson like RAM in 2012?
My emails went out to Rush, Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly.
Would be nice to include a way contact Kristan Cole in the email.
You know how lazy these guys are in doing any research.
"working like a 'galley slave' " LOL!!! Why am I thinking of Charlton Heston in "Ben Hur"!?! I love it...how I wish I could give more than the $150 max!! But I will do what I can in other ways (e-mails, etc.)---great effort, everyone...if things are so "hot" now, what is 2012 going to be like????
We are living through fateful days, pregnant with the promise of salvation for the Res Publica Americana!!
SARAH AMERICA FOREVER!!!
Brianus
BTW, for that Dead, Disgraced uruk hai, remember what she did on the Oil and Gas Commission, how she resigned because the party bigwigs wouldn't listen her, the same ones that kept Ruedrich in leadership, who supported Renkes until it was too obvious that he needed to be removed. How she actually forced Exxon to live up to it'scontracts
on Point Thompson, how they were forced to partner up with Trans Canada, all through her efforts and the people she appointed. It would be much easier for her if she was a VECO (and Exxon
mouthpiece) like Fagan and the Alaskan standard. If that were so,
there would be no need for a site
like this, and the future of the nation would indeed be dire.
I just finsished sending out emails again to that entire list I sent to yesterday. Then a thought occured to me. I also have a work email address I can access from here at home. So, I sent them all out again using my KSU email address. The more the merrier right. Wish I thought of that yesterday
Let's email this to Allah Pundit. his eyes will pop out when he knows how much we've raised in a day.
Flicker, don't DARE speak that way...conservative Catholic that I am, I cannot count the $$ I have given, in Christ's name, to beggars on the streets of Berkeley, California...don't you DARE!!!
SARAH FOREVER...to HE@$ with your Obama!!
Brianus
Yo Flicker,
Rather a check to her than to folks like you!!!
Go back to your ACORN cult...Lord Vader summons you!!!
I keep seeing people say they wish they could give again or more, but have maxed out the $150.
Don't forget, you have friends and family that could send in more. AND, if you buy the T-shirt I'm promoting (higher in the thread here), I'll make sure more gets to the AFT! The entire cost of the shirt.
Think people! :)
I come from a line of Civil War vets, grandfather Annapolis man, father served on the USS Hornet and a champion boxer in high school...sometimes I have to remind myself that we fight here on this blog with words and ideas...not with fists...the thought is tempting, however...begone, TROLLS!!!
Brianus
Hey Flicker: I see that you are at it again and as usual you have come to the wrong place. You need to go to Celtic Diva, Immoral Majority, etc. and ask them to quit filing the petty complaints then there would not be thousands of dollars taken from the state budget to process the complaints and we wouldn't have to be helping Sarah pay lawyers.
What we do is nothing compared to what is being taken from the people of Ak. from processing these complaints... GET IT...SEE WHAT I MEAN...YOUR CONCERN IS MISPLACED.
Flicker,
Just to let you know, I have given to the poor, the elderly and the needy. My question is, have you???dederbi
AP has a write-up.....
http://www.seattlepi.com/national/1110ap_palin_legal_fees.html
Tommy,
just an extra word would help out here . . . like "AP has a decent write-up or maybe a lame slam, etc, so we all don't have to go to the link to see what's the story.
After all, I'm trying to work, but productivity has been really low the last two weeks :-)
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's supporters are holding a Web-a-thon to raise money for her legal defense fund.
Organizers of Conservatives4Palin say they hope to raise more than $500,000 in a week.
Palin has said she has amassed more than that in legal fees while fighting ethics complaints. She also incurred legal fees during last fall's Troopergate investigation into her firing of Alaska's public safety commissioner.
The legal defense fund was established in April.
According to the campaign's Web site - http://www.conservatives4palin.com - more than $50,000 had been raised by Tuesday morning. The Web-a-thon started Monday.
Been watching feedjit a little this morning. Exits from this site to AFT site seem to be increasing quite a bit in the last hour or so.
What a great job this place does.
Can the $150 limit be raised?
We should expect celtic stalker to file a complaint about the webathon.
Let'e be honest.... we're going to need to raise 600,000... 500,000 for legacy legal fees and 100,000 for legals fees to fight off the bogus complaints about this webathon!!!
I jest, but after seeing the other 14 ethics complaints.... anything is possible.
Governor Palin wouldn't even need to respond to a complaint against this webathon since she had nothing to do with it. It would be thrown out for lack of standing. The Alaskan Executive Ethics Act has nothing to do with C4P. I suspect that a lot of donations are being made and not reported to C4P so the actual number may be higher.
If it could be done, I think it would be helpful and informative to update, for all involved, a little more clarification as to how the latest figures were totaled up....
Were they inclusive of all since inception of the fund?... or just Mondays totals? Just desiring to know if the fund is reaching the $500 thousand.
Please don't take this as any criticalness, Im 100% full blooded barbarian, maybe just wanting to know more than I should.
Al B.,
I just took a look at Feedjit and you're right. Lots of traffic leaving C4P for AFT. Hopefully that translates into big dollars for the webathon. I do wish the AFT acepted credit cards directly rather than only through Paypal. Paypal takes a bit longer but I guess AFT has their reasons.
check it out. I actually went to the front webpage of my hometown paper and there was the AP C4P story. Very cool- they even had a link to you guys
Have to admit I was rather stunned at the first day total. Happy to see C4P having this kind of impact. Congrats folks! Keep it up.
I was just on the TeamSarah website and there is NOTHING on their front page about the webathon.
Why is this? Are they not on board? That is disappointing that they would not be willing to put a banner up.
Should we e-mail them some more or have they already said they would not do it. I thought they were part of Sarah's team?
The story at ktuu.com has a comment section. The usual trolls are there with their old gossip/smears.
Not as bad as any 'Palin' story, but snotty comments just the same.
--
With the broad print coverage this is now receiving, the webathon should be a success.
Tommy,
I didn't ask for the whole article, plus then I had to reference your earlier post and link again just to make sure what you had posted was what was on the unreferenced link.
I'm just asking for an adjective or two so I see how the battle is going. I'm aware of the web-a-thon and everything else.
Like I said, I'm trying to work here . . . need a little help.
K. Carpenter, that's great ! But where do you live ? That would give us some perspective.
Lipstick,
I too am very disappointed that Team Sarah has not become involved in this effort. I have been posting blogs there several times a day so that the members are aware of the webathon. It's really sad. I work day in and day out to promote Team Sarah ( as you can tell by the default name on all of my social network sites)and they are not willing to give us a hand here. I am truly disappointed.
Hey Bill- I see you are from Baltimore.
Kenosha Wisconsin here.
Here is a link to my homepage newspaper- right hand side under "Latest US Headlines" Here is the link

Someone with a Free Republic account needs to post the KTUU and AP story.
If somehow this raised MORE than the amount needed, where would the excess go?
I see Karen Allen from Team Sarah is doing her best to represent. Also, RAM has posted this on the Forum at Team Sarah.
Josh Painter posted the Redstate story at FR.
Nancy,
Kenosha Wisconsin, that's great they posted it. Seems like Sarah's in the news, and anyone in their right mind who wants some press or ratings, just talk about Sarah.
I know nothing about raising money like we are doing here. Therefore, I don't know if this amount raised yesterday is good, bad, or fair.
I am making thinking the avg. donation the first day is probably the highest and if $50.00 average.
This would be 10,000 people donating.
Considering how many people on Team Sarah, here and lots of other places do you think this is good or bad??
If the donation could have been a max. of $500.00 which isn't a lot for many people that we are trying to reach, radio, tv people and other politicians we could have been there by now.

They like repeating the ethics charges without mentioning the dismissals, but in the process they will cause money to be donated.
That is a good trade for now, though a project to correct the record when they leave out the dismissals might be in order, and it might cause another web-a-thon story
Right, Al B., I re-wrote the KTUU story so I could post it on RedState. FR was down most of the morning, but I posted it there when the site finaly came back up.
The FR post is starting to get some good comments:

Thanks for all of your help, guys. Please continue to take ownership of this and send out emails!
I too am very, very disappointed that Team Sarah is not responding to our requests for help. They have not responded to emails asking, begging them to put the information on their main page or to email their supporters.
I don't know what the problem is. But I would encourage people to continue to email the big shots there and ask why Team Sarah is not helping Sarah retire her legal debt in this grassroots effort. It just makes no sense.
Please remember that if you gave in the past, you can email us at webathon@conservatives4palin.com to let us know what you gave and we'll include it in our numbers.
JoinTS:
Yes it is disappointing and confusing?? Is it that they only jump on Pro-Life issues? But they had a posting on the front page about the Letterman issue. Plus, one of the ethics complaints came from her going to the RTL Banquet in Indiana, seems like they would be willing to put up a banner on the front page.
Makes me really wonder about the people that run that site. Will they really back Sarah up through a tough, hard knocks POTUS campaign. Are they just that whishy washy? Will they stick with her through thick and thin or bail on her?
They need to wake up and stand up for Sarah, she is the best option they have for a blatantly open Pro-Life President.
Lipstick,
I don't know. They kinda have me wondering too. I want to continue to promote them, but I also want to see them joining efforts like this one. This is for Sarah!! The least they could do is put a banner on the front page. Either way, I'm glad that C4P are doing such a great job!!
RAM,
I will continue to email the administrators at Team Sarah. I usually don't have much luck, but I will continue trying. Thanks for all that you and everyone here at C4P do for Gov. Palin.
Martha
JoinTS:
Yes, TeamSarah could really be a force that helps Sarah whether she runs for POTUS or not.
They need to decide how serious they are. Are they prepared to get bloody in a fight? I know they are really focused on Pro-life issues (as am I) but they have to be willing to go to bat for Sarah for everything. If she is not able to run and win POTUS, then you have 4 more years of possible supreme court appointments by Obama.
They need to get on board.
I just sent a very nice e-mail to them asking them to put a banner on the main page. I also asked that if they had a policy or reason for not wanting to join in thie effort if they would announce that. Hopefully they will respond. Perhaps if I knew their reason, then it would make more sense to me.
I have to admit, if they do not help I will see that as bailing on Sarah.
I don't like that and will remove my membership and let them know why I have done so. I did not tell them that in the e-mail but I will let them know if it comes to that.
TeamSarah? Why have that name if you are not really on her team?
Makes no sense.
I am willing to get bloody in a fight for Sarah because she has been so bloodied through the campaign and afterwards and still stands for what she believes in.
TeamSarah needs to suck it up and get in the fight.
I just emailed Emily, the TS moderator. I'm puzzled by TS on this. They should have been the first to join this effort. Hope it isn't an ego thing.
TS should have had a post or link to the Webathon on their home page. They are still focused on Letterman which is all well and good but Sarah needs help to pay these legal bills too.
This is not a good sign if the Pro-Palin groups can't come together on important issues like this.
Can someone explain who is TeamSarah? Who is behind it? Is it connected to her ? etc.
I looked on the site and couldn't find much.
I am pretty sure I signed up a while ago and (if I have my web sites straight) they were supposed to "approve" me, but I don't recall ever hearing back.
Plus their web site is lame, too pink, just a bad color scheme.
C4P is really a good site, professional, seems like THE place to be to support the Gov, etc.
So what is the story?
Bill in B:
I don't know details about the people who started TS, JoinTS may be better to answer that. The way I understand it is after the election a couple of women started it to support Sarah by listing newsstories ect. Also there are groups on there you can join and chitchat. Most people on it are very serious about the Pro-Life movement.
Right after the election the founders were on a couple of the MSM news shows defending Sarah, they also were quick to throw her under the bus after her state supreme court pick did not suit them, yet they were uninformed as to how the state of AK does it. (the guv is sent a couple of names to pick from, Sarah picked the best one she could but they saw her pick as Pro-Coice)
If they do not get on board I guess they would rather have Obama picking 4 more years of possible Supreme Court justices.
I was there a lot to get info on Sarah but it is not updated well to me. After I found C4P I was here all the time.
IMO TS should have been first in line to put a banner on their main page.
They are not being a team player on Sarah's team to me.
A,
Thanks for the link to the USA today article. It really chaps my pants that they don't tell the whole story, that yeah by the way all of the charges were dismissed. I tried to register to comment, but could not do so. The comments so far seemed pretty balanced. But, I would love it if the media actually educated people with the facts. You're right though, the attention the webathon gets will bring in more traffic and donations.
Good work guys, keep it up. I'll be emailing TS also.
Lipstick,
thanks for the explanation, now it's making more sense.
Sounds like they are grassroots too, the pink reminds me of Komen Foundation which just doesn't resonate with me.
I wouldn't worry about them, sounds like they are really not organized, plus their web site is probably not easy to maintain and so is kind of lame.
C4P rocks, so there you go (here we are)
I don't understand what Team Sarah's problem is. Before I found C4P, TS was my main Palin site. However, the majority of their posts after about January had nothing to do with Governor Palin. That's why I left. They semed, at one point, to be obsessed with Obama's birth certificate. I'm sure TS means well and I still go there maybe once a week, but it's not in the same league as C4P.
I could be wrong, but I believe Fred Thompson's wife was one of the original people who found or at least a strong supporter of Team Sarah. I recall them having open line sessions where they discussed Sarah.
manajordan,
The USA Today article is very biased but, in this case, the publicity generated will be helpful for the webathon IMHO.
all we need is BOR's viewers to go donate.
BillOReilly.com has linked us from their front page...keep your fingers crossed.
VO,
Just saw the link...good news, hopefully Amanda Carpenter will mention it the next time she goes on her show.
Hot Air has a thread featuring C4P's challenge to BOR!
Let's see if he responds soon.
VO - Just saw that on Bill O'Reilly's website. Way Cool! This is where BOR is effective - he has the #1 cable news show and he has viewers of all political backgrounds!
That would be Beyond Awesome if BOR would help publicize the Webathon! C4P - Gird your loins for all those incoming donations!
I posted a lot on TS. Things I felt helped Sarah, and a little general interest just to keep something happening.
I have been following c4p, and mentioned you favorably in several TS posts.
I like the quality here, and your topic focus suits me.
I don't think Sarah sites should be anti-anyone sites, generally, except counterpunching when needed. (Bore in the Woods, and Fire Letterman suit me fine.)
Many of the TS posts strike me as driving away reasonable people.
If I was creating a blog, it would be much like c4p.
It took me quite a while observing before getting comfortable with c4p and getting around to creating a blogger account.
I think TS was founded by, and is partly funded by, Susan B. Anthony List, a Pro Life group.
RAM said at 1:21 pm:
"I don't know what the problem is. But I would encourage people to continue to email the big shots there and ask why Team Sarah is not helping Sarah retire her legal debt in this grassroots effort. It just makes no sense."
RAM, it makes perfect sense. They don't want to link to C4P because they know once people find C4P, they don't go back to Team Sarah. At least I didn't.
Patty,
It's at the bottom of the site. Type "Palin" into your find feature.
One of the Team Sarah founders is Jeri Thompson, wife of Fred Thompson. She was on the Neil Cavuto show yesterday and did not mention a thing about the webathon. She is a frequent guest on Fox and could have been a major asset to this cause. Honestly folks, i'm really bummed out today about all this. Part of me is so excited that this webathon is going great, but the other half is disappointed and hurt. I'm just a regular person that wants to help Gov. Palin anyway I can. I thought by creating social networks promoting Team Sarah I would at the same time be helping Gov. Palin. I think I was wrong. I'm a novice at these types of efforts, but in the course of 7 months I have started several networks and my Join Team Sarah MySpace page has grown to over 1000. I think it's time for me to re-evaluate a lot of things. Thank You again C4P!! All of you have true heart for Sarah.
Martha
They have done some good work, they were pushing against Sebelius
before the whole swine flu mess, and their radio show is good, although it's on sporadically now. This place is clearly a better site, We're the Spear of the Palin
nation.
VO,
I don't see the link to C4P at the BOR site?
Jimr,
I can't find any link either. VO, can you give us a link?
Hey Narciso!
The Blog Talk Radio show will be back on soon. I relocated to a different city so I need to get my internet and computer set up. I'm not sure it will be called "Join Team Sarah" Blog Talk Radio show anymore. We'll see. Right now i'm working off a 13 inch laptop with a Sprint Data Card ( extremely slow!!). I continue to post the webathon banner on every site possible!!
To be fair on TS, alot of supporters split off into their own groups and I've noticed many of those members don't really appear at the general site anymore, but I do continue to get messages from some group leaders. My guess is that they are actively networking. Just a guess.
About TeamSarah
There are several blogs that have promoted and linked to the Web-a-thon. There site is different from C4P in that it is more driven by many individual blogs. They often refer to C4P. There is benefit in both sites. C4P is more singularly focused om Sarah while TS addresses other issues. I spend hours a day reading C4P but always check-out TS.
Woo Hoo,
Just got an e-mail back directly from the 'Budman' at wfla
"Thanks for the info, ...we'll get the word out."
nice.
Good News Indie!
His show is on 6am - 9 am.
This is a good slot for all those in his audience who are sitting in their cars on the way to work or night shift getting off work.

Before we get all excited we have to ensure that this whole process is legitimate and transparent. The worst thing that can happen is for this grassroot effort to be revealed as a sham. But I have full faith in RAM and CP4 that they share the integrity of the woman they're trying to support with this webathon and would do nothing self-aggrandizing to diminish her image among the grassroots. God bless you CP4!
I'm happy to say that just donated to the AFT! For the first time, ever I have given money to a political cause. It is my hope that retiring this debt will enable Governor Palin to continue to serve Alaska without the worries of the financial burdens of ridiculous complaints.
Illinois Conservative,
Welcome to the club. I never gave a penny to any politician or political cause until August 29 when McCain picked her as his running mate.
This donation to AFT is a first for me also, other than paying dues to the NRA for a couple of years.
I have recieved form letters from the RNC, but I usually just shred them. lol
ricwon
I just send the letters back to the RNC with a note saying all my money goes to SarahPAC. Has to be SarahPAC now for me since I have already given the max $150 to AFT.
Fellow barbarians,
If you want THE book that shoots the leftist down pat and convincingly shows that Republicans and Conservatives are significantly more charitable, read:
"Who Really Cares?" - Arthur Brooks
An indispensible manifesto to have in your bag to refute the statists and show them THEY are the scrooges and misers.
Of course, I already knew we were more generous since I grew up in the SF Bay Area where you won't find more self-absorbed selfish people on the planet.
Get it! Read it! And take it to heart and never back down from an argument with statists/progs/libs on who is the more generous based on percentage income given up, blood donated, and time.
It isn't even close.
Push it right back in their face with the facts.
FYI, Team Sarah is a worthwhile site. I consider it a privilege to belong.
Several months ago, it was attacked and now the membership is screened. This has slowed membership considerably.
The site has been quiet since the Chambliss runoff. Many of its stars have their own blog. It picks up when Sarah does something.
Team Sarah is part of the Susan B. Anthony List that raises money for pro life female candidates. I consider it a privilege to belong to it as well. Many years ago, this organization recognized that, when the brand feminism of those like Governor Palin becomes the norm, abortion will fade away.
Team Sarah's is managed by those who work at SBA. In all fairness, they are in the front lines. The SBA is their day job. They'll pick up the webathon eventually.

John,
I hope you're right. I have to admit I got a bit of a bad taste in my mouth a while back when the moderators of Team Sarah criticized Governor Palin's pick for the Alaska Supreme Court. That was a real head scratcher for me. I remember a few members leaving because of that. I think it will be of great assistance to the webathon when they (Team Sarah) gets on board.
Doug,
I and a couple of others posted a protest about TS criticism of Sarah's SC pick. The moderators reconsidered and promptly took it down.
AK FAKE TRUST = EPIC FAIL!!!!!!
hey plane belly, good morning ! I see you're still watching, haven't you got anything better to do ?
Sure seems like you are a "glass is 3/4 empty" person, huh ?
Are you actually a parrot who learned to type ? Or probably more accurately, you're just typing what the parrot says.
Also, does your mother know what you are up to. Probably she would be so proud of your extensive 5 word vocabulary.
Keep watching . . . and be amazed.
