Remembering Neda
From "comatus," a commenter at AoSHQ:
I finally looked at her picture, and she looked familiar somehow. I think we have a statue of her in the harbor at New York. Delacroix caught a glimpse of her once on a barricade in Paris. She carried water to the cannon crews at Monmouth, and drove a chariot at Watling Street. She cut off Holophernes' head.
She will be missed, but she will be back. She's that kind of girl.
More from Hot Air here.
John McCain gave a statesman-like speech -- the sort that brings comfort to the friends of freedom everywhere.
Meanwhile...
Update: Hey, who's up for some hot dogs and fireworks? From Hot Air:
State Dep’t: Iranian diplomats still welcome to celebrate July 4th with U.S.
Via Weasel Zippers, a gesture of solidarity per our two nations’ shared interest in life, liberty, and shooting women in the heart on the street, I guess.

I think it's time for sarah to make Statement on her facebook page and sarahpac
You know what BO was doing before eating that cone? He was putting together an email with the subject line of "Time to roll up your sleeves". No lie. Somehow I ended up on the White House mailing list and got it today. See his sleeves in that pic? That must be what he was talking about.
I read the missive...you didn't miss anything. I can't get those ten seconds back either.
well, caramel Heath bar custard at the Dairy Godmother is to die for....just sayin'
Neda is featured on our web site!

North Korea aiming missiles at Alaska & Hawaii,Iran in revolution, the economy in shambles, socializing business & healthcare,.....
"Hey lets get some ice cream and than I'll go play golf."-O'bama.
"Neda died with her eyes open. Shame on us for living with our eyes shut."-John McCain.
Thank you Sen. McCain. You might not have won, but you are Presidential in a time when we desperately need SOMEONE to be.
Kudos to McCain. I have many issues with him, but not this time.
Speaking of McCain, click on the below link of what was a boring blah blah blah NPR "On Point" program this morning featuring a boring guest who was McCain Presidential Campaign's Chief Economic Advisor saying how the GOP needs to broaden itself -- boring, that is, UNTIL a caller at 35.00 into the show said the answer for the GOP was simply two words "SARAH PALIN" -- and then listen to the McCain guest try to downplay the importance of Palin.
(Clearly many in the GOP old-guard establishment fear Palin; she will deal with them first, before dealng with the Obama Dems -- on her way to the Whitehouse.)

McCain may have been a better president on issues of defense and international relations but there is not much difference between him and BO on fiscal and most social issues!
Who knew presidents came in American-Lite.
Less Taste - More (face) Filling
Ted,
I wouldn't hit on HOltz-Eakin for his answer to the Palin question....I thought his answer was pretty fair.
TommyReport:--
I think you're missing the music here; clearly the McCain insiders and much of the GOP didn't want and don't want Palin. Those are the same namby mamby liberal lites and Rinos who are afraid to be out-front Conservatives like Palin.
Even Tom Ashbrook noted that the McCain guest was not picking up on the caller's point! (Generally the Dems and Lib Media love guests like that McCain guy PRECISELY BECAUSE THEY ARE LOSERS -- whereas Palin is a winner!)
Kathryn Jean Lopez at NRO links to a video message from Huckabee to the Iranian people on his HuckPac website.

I'm a die-hard Palinista, and if Sarah went out for ice cream in the middle of hassling with oil companies or her continual, ridiculous ethics violations, I would be GLAD she found a way to relax. So, I don't care about BO's going out for ice cream, either.
It's everything ELSE about him that I have trouble tolerating.
For example, evidently the Obamas have decided to email the entire world population thrice weekly for the duration----no doubt on our dime.
His email message today prompted readers to view a video of the First Grumpy, Michelle Not-So-Belle (her forehead is gonna burst soon with all the Botox.
Yo, Michelley, you know the "tox" stands for "TOXIN!"----right?)
Obviously we Americans aren't volunteering enough, or the right way, or Michelley wouldn't have to urge us to visit a government website for volunteering ideas.
Plus, working on church programs that help the community (help for prisoners, campus ministries, food pantries, or sponsoring AA, etc.) don't count for the Obamas. No wonder we need to access the Obama-approved volunteer ideas! (Brrrrr......)
Anyway, speaking of enemies, yes, McCain's statement re. Neda was compassionate and compelling; he has his laudable moments. But he is dismissive of Gov. Palin's skills and potential lately, so we must stay vigilant.
The REAL Message for Today: keep up the Tweets, Sarah! Keep using the most modern technology, so you keep winning the hearts and minds of actual or potential conservatives!
(And don't worry about how the Republican Party keeps ignoring you: they'll come around just fine, when they see that YOU are the only way to WIN! GO SARAH!)
WE take our freedom for granted, even abusing it on to many occasions, what a shame we cannot come together and celebrate the richness and goodness of freedom and liberty each and every day.
May God bless Neda and family and all the freedom fighters in Iran and around the world.
May God continue his blessings on these United States of America.
Caramel Heath Bar Crunch.
The flavor that crushed democracy in Iran.
Taste Obamanomics and believe.
(By the way, I got my CPAC invitation/registration form for 2010 in the mail. I hope Sarah can make it, even for just one Saturday speech.)
You have got to be freaking kidding me!
Just read this at Hot Air
"State Dep’t: Iranian diplomats still welcome to celebrate July 4th with U.S"
"President Barack Obama’s administration said earlier this month it would invite Iran to US embassy barbecues for the national holiday for the first time since the two nations severed relations following the 1979 Islamic revolution."
“There’s no thought to rescinding the invitations to Iranian diplomats,” State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters.
“We have made a strategic decision to engage on a number of fronts with Iran,” Kelly said. “We tried many years of isolation, and we’re pursuing a different path now.”
Allah says; "a gesture of solidarity per our two nations’ shared interest in life, liberty, and shooting women in the heart on the street, I guess."
"Not even a disinvitation to the barbecue on America’s birthday as punishment for killing protesters, huh, Barry? Absolutely the lowest moment of his presidency thus far."
Amen Allah!
Considering that Mugniyeh's replacement was a diplomat at the Iranian embassy in Beirut(MOIS/
VEVAK) read spy, along with the Iranian 'diplomats' detained in Ieaq, this seems extremelyfoolhardy
I just teared up watching this video about Palin. I think how much better off we would have been with McCain and Sarah :(

From the NY Times:
"A gunshot rang out, and the woman, Neda Agha-Soltan, fell to the ground. “It burnt me,” she said before she died."
"Only scraps of information are known about Ms. Ahga-Soltan — her friends and relatives were mostly afraid to speak and the government broke up public attempts to mourn her. She studied philosophy and took underground singing lessons — women are banned from singing publicly in Iran. Her name means “voice” in Persian, and many are now calling her the voice of Iran."
"A woman called Hana posted a comment on Mr. Karroubi’s website: “I am alive but my sister was killed. She wanted the wind to blow into her hair; she wanted to be free; she wanted to hold her head high up and say: I am Iranian. My sister died because there is no life left; my sister died because there is no end to tyranny.”
"One poem circulating on the Internet explicitly linked her death to other symbols of the protest movement:"
Stay, Neda —
Look at this city
At the shaken foundations of palaces,
The height of Tehran’s maple trees,
They call us “dust,” and if so
Let us sully the air for the oppressor
Don’t go, Neda.

CrabbyCon,
That was a good video except for the last few seconds.
If Sarah subscribes to even 25% of what's allowed to be posted on TS I want nothing to do with her.
Team Sarah is ALL about promoting . . . . Team Sarah.
A week ago they posted "We will be supporting them directly with our own banner and etc"
Do ya see any such 'banner' on their site?
CrabbyCon,
Great video. I never saw that one before. Very well done.
Neo,
Sorry - I know it has that at the end - I don't really use TS but I just liked the video besides that part and the song that went with it.
I'm not promoting anything but the essence of that video which is the fact that Sarah is just a regular person who has worked their way up from nothing trying to obtain the American dream, like most of us. My apologies for any offense.
Just in Video
AHMADINEJAD BREAKS HIS SILENCE, June 22, 2009!
http://tinyurl.com/o3vzc2
If you watched closely, she was looking at the camera in the last few seconds of life....then the blood came out of her nose and mouth and it was over.
Neo,
I normally do not comment here to call out people but your comment to CrabbyCon was inappropriate. I am a member of TS. Do I agree with a lot of of the posts there? HECK NO!! A lot of them have no relevance to Sarah herself. That being said, I still consider that site a good networking tool for people who have a common bond with our Sarah. Everyone is entitled to their opinion to what they think about TS. However, CrabbyCon simply showed a video that she wanted to share with viewers here at C4P, as the essence of the video touched her heart. It mentioned the name "TeamSarah" at the end. That is a fact. While I am glad that you enjoyed the video (with the exception of the last few moments) the fact that you complained about the last few moments into 3 sentences, you made CrabbyCon feel the need to apologize to you for, as she stated, an "offense". That was wrong, period.
CrabbyCon, thanks for posting. I always love to see pix of the (incredibly photogenic!) gov!
Yes Neo,
And if Sarah subscibes to just 25% of your bitter, unforgiving, selfish, insecure, bs attitude, how far would that get her?
EVERY person I have met at TS has been a good person.
It is a large site. It's purpose is mainly the pro-life movement and they probably believe (as I do) that Sarah in the White House is the best way to overturn Roe vs. Wade due to interpretationists on the court.
We definitely don't need jealousy to rule this site or any site that is supporting Sarah.
You need to apologize to CrabbyCon.
I'll wait and give you a chance to respond.
Be an adult, and think about it.
Think how Sarah would react.
My comments about the video crabbycon posted were NOT directed at the poster. I made specific reference to the latter few seconds of the video after praising the rest.
Had I read crabbycon's reply before reading the next two I would have explained my post was about the video and not about the poster.
However, having read the last two replies I'll refrain other than the above.
sapwolf > It's interesting to see your first sentence do to me the very same thing you accuse me of being/doing! Your last 5 sentences are WAY out of line since you have NO idea who I am, what I believe or what I support.
I have followed Sarah with a microscope since last Oct. Unless she is pulling the wool over my eyes I'll stand by my statements about TS. I have been a member there since Nov. and know full well what the majority of blog posts are about.

Neo,
The Anklebiters are the ones that follow Sarah with a microscope. She does not need any more people doing the same. Even a magnifying glass is too much. If we follow Sarah with a microscope we are destined to be disappointed with her at some point. Furthermore, we end up becoming more elitest towards her.
As for TeamSarah: as I stated in my last post, everyone is entitled to their own opinion about that site. However, I am confused why you are a member when you take the time to highly criticize them here. Almost sounds like you are trying to have your cake and eat it too. My perception.
It is bed time for me, but I wanted to comment one last time before hand. I won't discuss this any further. I wrote what needed to be written.
