BUMPED: Video: Palin Addressing Troops in Kosovo; UPDATE: Additional Footage

Hat tip to a couple of our readers for this - ymchoo and Just Sayin. Nothing official from the military yet, but it looks like one of the GIs in the audience videotaped much of the address and uploaded it.

The Governor also tweeted this morning about some details of her visit:

Now in Faik Konica school, our troops helping local students learn English along w/Pristina interpreters. Enthused kids thankful for U.S.

Spoke to Task Force Falcon this morn + 100's of troops from throughout US, & allies; audience of true heroes who sacrifice much for freedom.

Walked Kosovo streets w/ KFOR troops, folks chatted about their interest in U.S. & they knew a lot about Alaska! Taught them Yupik greetings.

I'll send pics to Aces & KWHL (they'll appreciate it) of Alaska Aviators here in Kosovo eating breakfst under our blue AK Aces hockey jersey.

Good stuff - thanked the troops, spoke about military spending and issues that concern people in uniform, mentioned that she will head to Germany to visit wounded troops...and stick through all the way to the end for a response to John Kerry's "joke":

Senator John Kerry makes this joke..I don't know if you saw this...but he makes this joke saying "Well, shoot, of all the governors in the nation to disappear, too bad it couldn't have been that Governor from Alaska."

Well, when he said it he looked quite frustrated, and he looked so sad, and I just wanted to reach out to the TV and say "John Kerry, why the long face?"

(laughter)

GOOD.

3.
Notice Gov. Palin is in Kosovo. Unlike our secretary of state, Gov. Palin is not under fire. No one would be nuts enough to fire upon her. She shoots back, as any moose in Alaska can tell you.

Hell, John Kerry can tell you that.

GOOD.

UPDATE by Mel: Press release from the governor's office:

June 26, 2009, Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo - Governor Sarah Palin today participated in the promotion ceremonies of three Alaska Army National Guard Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment.

Staff Sergeant Bryant Cox, from Wasilla, was promoted to Sergeant First Class (E-6 to E-7), Sergeant Douglas Montini, from Fairbanks, was promoted to Staff Sergeant (E-5 to E-6), and Sergeant Keith Nosbish, from Anchorage, was promoted to Staff Sergeant (E-5 to E-6).

"These soldiers are doing an outstanding job to ensure freedom to those who were oppressed, and I am proud of their accomplishments and their promotions while overseas," Governor Palin said.

UPDATE II by RAM: She's heading to Germany now to visit the wounded troops. She tweeted:

LtGen Campbell & I now n Germany=visit wounded warriors seek to do more to help these deserving patriots than mere visit they sacrifice much

UPDATE III by RAM: Here's some more video of her trip to Kosovo:

Pretty cool to see her dressed down and mixing with the troops. She just strikes me as a woman you could sit down and have a beer with and never have her pull rank on you or have her go in to a oration on how great she is at this or that. Pretty amazing.

Hal June 26, 2009 10:43 AM

Teresa,

Apologies if it was not you, but there is a major troll over there in the headlines of this post who reminded me of you and your sensitivity comment. Either way, would you like to explain your comment to the readers? Gov Palin is doing what a real CIC should be doing. Making a little joke back at a failed and pathetic politician who is pretty loathed by the military is not being sensitive. I actually thought it was pretty Reaganesque.

As Hal said, it was a throw away joke in 10 minute+ speech. Did you even watch the video?

Yet your comment is an intentionally psychobabble characterization intending to marginalize, when Palin was just defending herself.

Your wierd.

Al B. June 26, 2009 11:11 AM

Teresa -- it was a light-hearted jab back at a fool-hardy, mean and pathetic attempt at humor by John Kerry at HER expense. Reagan did it all the time.

Whether it was getting back at Rickles, George Burns et al at roasts, or pointed jabs back at politicians, Reagan did it -- often

I think the question about who's the sensitive one here has been answered. Give it a rest.

FredHeadBill June 26, 2009 11:31 AM

Loved her joking about Senator Kerry’s long sad face; in 2004 my friends gave Kerry the nickname Lurch because of the resemblance to “The Addams Family” character.
Thanks for the video!

Honoring 1/2 of 1 percent, that chosen to serve. May God Bless our young soldiers and their families. Reminds me of…"Never has so few done so much for so many..." Winston Churchill
Just watched a film about Winston Churchill during WW II; called “Into the Storm”. It revealed the promptness and firmness of his decisions that was necessary to bring Britain back from the brink of destruction. He even ordered the French Navy to be destroyed rather than letting them become weapons for the NAZIS killing 1200 Frenchmen.
When Governor Palin becomes POTUS she will be faced with a tremendous burden; she will be tasked with saving our democracy and removing the tendrils of socialism that Obama is putting in place. I can only imagine the criticism that will be heaped upon her
by a hateful state media. She will need our prayerful support.

But I think that she has that same ‘Just Do It’ spirit that Churchill processed.

hrh June 26, 2009 11:35 AM

I don't follow Kerry at all - as I generally didn't follow politics at all until 8/29/08 - so what am I missing about the "why the long face?" joke?

Is it just a comment on the fact that he does have a long face? I loved Sarah telling the joke and the reaction of the troops, and her saying "yeah, some of you had to think about that one a bit." :)

But I'm one of those who haven't really gotten it, I don't think. Is there more to it than just his facial features?

One of the largest parts of
Sara's charm in that she ISN'T from Washington and brings a breath of fresh air to the debate. Therefore, her being "far from Washington" when she made this speech is pointless.

As you may be aware, she is the governor of Alaska, has a son who is currently serving with the Army in Iraq and devotes endless hours to charity work and raising funds for special needs children.

The military loathes Kerry, for both his dishonesty regarding those with whom he "served" in Viet Nam and his comments about those in the military being the lowest on the food chain. His exact words? ""You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq. ..."

The brave men and women who attended her speech both understood and appreciated her humor. Shame you couldn't

PEC, is that an Army gray t-shirt she's wearing? It also looks like a dog tag around her neck? But why would she have that?

Yep, better video would be great, but I'm glad for this one.

And, just as the grainy Michael Reagan speech video went viral - and caused the stooooopid plagiarism nonsense - so is this grainy video going national.

Love it!

sarah palin rocks June 26, 2009 2:43 PM

Luv our Gov!

Sarah is brilliant!

Palin TKOs Kerry and Wins!!

PEC June 26, 2009 2:44 PM

I am trying to make out if it is an Army shirt. I am looking close (no guys not for the wrong reason) and it does look like it. I tried to check on the dog tags and it could be. She wouldn't be required to wear them but she may have a set of her sons or somebody may have giving her a set.
Folks I have never seen a more down to earth politician visit. Now when Bruce Willis went and visited yes her was dressed like her, but normally they are in a dress casual outfit. Folks you can tell she really enjoys this. Most are there for show. She really wants to see the soldiers. I think this is just who she is regardless of her son's service. She really believes individuals that serve in the service are heroes. I never think of myself as one though I have served with many.

PEC June 26, 2009 2:45 PM

Oh the undershirts are an off green. PT shirts are gray ones.

alwaysfiredup June 26, 2009 2:51 PM

Yeah. 'Cause no one but David Letterman ever observed that Kerry literally has a long face. If we wanted to read HuffPo or Kos talking points we'd be over there doing so. Be original or get out.

Latest tweet from GOV. Ran with soldiers enjoyed a BBQ. She gets it you all she gets it. Soldiers love and respect a leader like this. She reminds me of GEN Petraeous type style and the other quality Generals in the 101st. Loved meeting troops. Why can't she be my CIC?

bestbud June 26, 2009 3:42 PM

Our great Gov. doing what she does best, CONNECTING!

Its such a stark contrast, her casualness as with family and friends, consistently presenting her Alaskan unpretentious nature, compared to POTUS's elitist stuffed arrogant phoniness and all the stammering uh's ,and ah's, of his unscripted speaking.

Love It Gov. be safe and sound!

I'm even more convinced that she's going to be our first female president. Damn, she looked good in that role!

Another gem from the recently posted video was her coming into hall with the troops, immediately shaking hands (in that firm grip she has) and then marching right over to the podium all without batting an eye.

Fearless.

"More tweets... man the Guv is on a roll today... think she's a fan of the press? lol"

I am convinced that between Sarah's Tweets and CP4's destroying any and every lie told/written about Gov Palin, the MSM massacre of Sarah and her family isn't going to happen in 2012 like it did in '08. They better get used to it.

Sarah will have over one million Twitter'ers following her shortly after she announces her run for the White House (whatever that day may be) and she can bypass a good portion of the useless, 20th century press.

RAM and her C4P staffers will also be even stronger then and will scare the you-know-what out anyone who dares to print lies about Sarah.

Of course, the C4P way is not the same as the Chicagoland style of "scaring the shit" out of someone...

LadySam June 26, 2009 5:18 PM

So much for "diva" accusations!!!Love that woman's attitude. Her sense of humor is terrrrific!!!

John Kerry is one of the least popular in America…he’s pretty much at David Letterman's level in terms of personal favorability. Here’s some data.

http://www.pollingreport.com/k.htm

Palin’s favorables are approaching 50%, close to what she needs to win if you look at the last Pew and CNN poll.

She’s a lot more popular and well-liked than the guy who threw his medals into the ocean.

hrh June 26, 2009 7:03 PM

The Lithuanian photo is also at Texas for Sarah Palin's blog ...

Anonymoose June 26, 2009 7:05 PM

Brian72 June 26, 2009 7:08 PM

Tommy, John F'n Kerry threw some medals over the fence at the White House, symbolically giving them back.

Only problem is, a lot of people think that he bought the medals from a guy with a big duffle bag selling medals for people to throw over the fence at the protest.

It's commonly believed that he did not throw his own medals, just let everyone think he did, and still has the ones he got in his office.

He's a fraud, a tool and a traitor as far as I'm concerned.

Brian72 June 26, 2009 7:25 PM

Cruela, I understand your anger, believe me. However , relax, don't blow a gasket.

Yes the House did this, but it won't pass the Senate.
Everyone is saying no way, no how.

I think McConnell (R-KY) may peel off enough Democrats in the Senate to sustain a filibuster, if they have to.

Begich (D-AK) won't support this crap, no way

Landreau (D-LA) she won't support it. Oil offshore, baby!

There are several other Dems in the Senate worried about what this will do to the economy, and Harry Reid (D-NV) is not in as strong a position as Speaker Stretchface Pelosi to strongarm them into voting for it.

Cap'n Trade just might win the R's the House back, even if it doesn't pass the Senate or get signed by the President.

This vote can be hung around Democrat reps in moderate to conservative districts and sink them like a stone.

Cheer up, and keep up the fight!

We can win this!
Yes We Can!

What will Gov. Palin say about this marxist, destroy-America bill?

jimr3 June 26, 2009 7:42 PM

Brian72,

I hope and pray you are right.

But I can tell you this, if this cap and trade tax passes the senate and it makes its way to the presidents desk, my families business that has been in existence since 1899 will be finished.

And our small business will not be the only business that will have been adversely affected by this asinine bill. Thousands of small businesses all across America will go extinct and the larger companies will just simply relocate oversees.

Yogi41 June 26, 2009 7:44 PM

Snowe and Collins will vote for this piece of crap bill, count on it. By the time this gets taken up in the Senate, Al Franken will miraculously be seated.

HOWEVER, at this time, I cautiously agree with Brian72. I don't see enough votes in the Senate for this to pass yet, but I put nothing past any of these politicians to suddenly "change their minds" and vote for it. Deals can be made and pockets lined; that's the way they all are in D.C.

I got this from Hot Air.

The eight RINO's that voted for this crap were:

Bono Mack - California, riverside
Castle - Delaware, only one

Kirk - Illinois, northern Chicago

Lance - New Jersey, suburbs/rural in north

Lobiondo - New Jersey, Atlantic City & south jersey

McHugh - New York, upstate, resigning to be ARMY SECRETARY

Reichert - Washington, eastern Seattle suburbs

All it took was four - only four of these individuals to vote no to kill this bill.

That video say's it all, Gov. Palin consistently presenting herself with that unpretentious Alaskan friendliness, warm and smiling as if at a family gathering.

What a great experience it must be for the troops to witness her presence and love for them, a heart felt tribute to their service and sacrifice.
Sarah would be the first to also acknowledge the blessing she receives from honoring them, it's a two way deal not often appreciated by todays leaders and she pulls it off for one reason only...

She exudes compassion from deep within her heart, no false pretense, and connects with people who will then feel their trust is not taken for granted.

Hope there are more videos, Bless the Gov. and troops, be safe and sound.

Oklahoma senator cites recent trend against global warming legislation; dismisses House efforts and claims EPA action to impose it can be stalled.

“I want to tell you what’s going to happen from this point forward in my opinion,” Inhofe said at the Heartland Institute’s Third International Conference on Climate Change in Washington, D.C. on June 2. “First of all, the House will pass anything. Nancy Pelosi has the votes to pass anything. Don’t be distressed when you see the House passes some kind of cap-and-trade bill. And you know it could be worse [than the proposed bill] and she could still pass it, so it’ll pass there.”

“While the House will pass the bill … in the Senate, they’re not going to be able to pass it,” Inhofe said. “You guys – it’s just not going to happen."

The Oklahoma senator credited the Founding Fathers, noting that the senate rules put in place are a difficult obstacle for the global warming activists in the federal government to overcome.

“It will pass in the House, in the Senate it will not pass,” Inhofe continued. “And her latest vote and she won’t admit this, but it’s 34 votes and it takes 60 votes in the Senate. Maybe the people who wrote our constitution knew what they were talking about.”

Inhofe is da man on this global warming junk.

There are some others that will fight this hard, some of them Dems.

I bet Begich (D-AK) will join them, being an energy state.

Gov Palin can help too, when she returns after the holiday weekend.

I've got to jump in the shower and burn some natural gas for my hot water, then burn some gasoline to go out and have some adult beverages with some friends, and stop getting mad about these morons destroying my country, at least for a while.

Later folks,

Some Dem Senators who are against cap and trade bill are:

Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.)
Evan Bayh (D-Ind.)
Robert Casey (D-Pa.)
Mary Landrieu (D-La.)
Carl Levin (D-Mich.)
Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.)
Ben Nelson (D-Neb.)
Mark Pryor (D-Ark.)

I think only Snowe and Collins will defect from the GOP. Even though McCain is on record being for cap and trade, he doesn't like this particular bill and said he'd vote "no".

My electric will double...$400 to $800 per month. I have an all electric house and I LOVE my AC. Anyway, if this POS passes, Ohio, which is an important state, will vote GOP for the foreseeable future.
