Why I Love the Guv

Owing to the fact that we are in the midst of a webathon to benefit Governor Palin, I thought it would be fitting to take some time to reflect upon the woman---and the cause---that we are supporting. While it is important to battle the inaccurate reporting (and flat out lies) leveled against the Governor, it is equally important to promote and publish positive articles and stories about her.

What I've included in this article are just a few of the reasons why I "love the Guv":

  • All-American-Woman - Governor Palin is a self-made, American woman---a fulfillment of the American dream. She has gone from being a member of the PTA to holding the highest executive position in the state of Alaska. She now Governs the largest and richest state in the Union. All of this has been a result of her work and not political connections.
  • Energy Independence - Governor Palin has substantive and innovative ideas to get America back on its feet and away from our dependence on foreign sources of fuel. From her first appearance on the national stage, she has repeatedly argued for America's energy independence by harnessing Alaska's vast energy supply. This idea is powerful and common sense.
  • Family - She comes from a family just like any other family but unique in their unity. I don't know of many families that can handle a lot of problems at once. Nor do I know of many family that can handle problems and heartache on a national scale while under the microscope of a savage, biased media. Governor Palin's family has not only stuck together through these times, but they're accomplishing so much! Todd competed in this year's Iron Dog, Track is serving in Iraq, Bristol graduated from high school while caring for her baby, Willow is taking on late-night talk show hosts (and winning), Piper started her own small business (a lemonade stand) and Trig is busy growing up fast (an accomplishment all on its own). On top of that, Governor Palin herself has just secured a landmark $26 billion dollar, natural gas pipeline to the lower 48. Truly, the Palins are an incredible family.
  • Special Needs Children - I was sitting next to my mother when Governor Palin delivered her speech at the RNC. I will never forget it. I watched as my mother's eyes filled up with tears when the Governor made her remarks about families with special needs children. My oldest sister has special needs and getting her care and helping her has been a real challenge for us at times. It was remarkably refreshing and deeply personal to hear from a candidate that was also walking that road with us.
  • The Barracuda - She could school Barry in basketball any day!
  • Praying Palins - It may be a simple thing to you, but it means a lot to me to see our public servants praying to a Power and an Authority higher than themselves.
  • She Hunts! - Much to Ashley Judd's dismay, the Governor is quite proficient in taking down moose and other staple foods in Alaska. But after further consideration, I can see why this would be scary for Democrats...after all, if she can field dress a moose, a donkey should be easy prey!
  • She Doesn't Quit - Of all the things that I have admired about Governor Palin, the thing that amazes me the most has been the fact that she simply doesn't quit. She continues to work hard for the benefit of Alaska and America (not for herself or for her party). She campaigned hard and then went right back to work. She hasn't let the negativity (on all sides) get to her. She keeps moving forward.
...and that's the kind of person I am PROUD to support.

But what about you? Why are your proud to support her? Why do you "love the Guv?" What I've written is like the tip of an iceberg from Glacier Bay National Park! Please write your own reasons for supporting the Governor and then go out and do it by contributing to the Alaska Fund Trust, making phone calls, writing emails or encouraging others to do the same.

Don't just talk the talk, but walk the walk!

O/T but someone should do a write-up about this story!

Barbara Boxer wants to be called "Senator" because she "worked so hard for that title." She didn't like it when the military general called her "Ma'am." Here, we have a military guy who risks his life to defend our country and SHE had the gall to say that?

Sarah doesn't care about fancy titles. She doesn't care of we call her 'SARAH'!

LindaW June 18, 2009 9:41 PM

And remember during that press conference on her birthday? Everyone was calling Sarah "governor," but when an outside caller calls in, he was like, "Hello, Sarah?" And she said, "Yes, this is Sarah." And everyone laughed. =)

Sarah in as inspiration to many women, young and young at heart. She has excellent work ethics and is a great role model. Sarah Loves God and Country and will always lend a helping hand. She is a servant of the People, and will do all in her God given power to do the right thing even when everyone is against her. Sarah has more Courage in her little finger than most politicians will ever have in all their "careers." Sarah is like a David in the book of Samuel. While everyone looks at the outward appearance God looks at the heart.
Sarah is someone I can call Friend, Sister in Christ, and one day, God willing, my PRESIDENT.

God bless Sarah and her precious family, in the Name of Jesus.

There's all that, plus her defense of the soldiers and sailors, typified by visit to that hospital in Kuwait, and by her son's own contribution in Diyala Province. One was reminded by her statement on the assassination of Pvt. William Long. Her fight against corrupt interests, both in her party and without. That sense of can do optimism, conveyed in the Happy warrior spirit of Goldwater and Reagan. The fact, that she had the number of this'community organizer' administration, and it's surfeit of rhetoric and paucity of accomplishments

I am proud to support Sarah because:

She is the daughter any mother would want to have.

She is the wife any man would want to have.

She is the mother any child would want to have.

She is the leader any person would be proud of.

Those that disagree, please sit down and shut up!!!! We know Sarah you don't.

When I did the first scavenger hunt over at Team Sarah, one of the clues was to share just why you really believed in Gov. Sarah Palin. The clue was entitled, "So You Say You Love Sarah."

Players had to put into words why they felt the way they did. If you want to see their responses...just take a peek here...they were really very good.

Its simple to me when I see how Sarah loves and protects her family, and see her show the same devoted passion for her state's well-being. George Washington was the father of our country. Sarah will be, in the best of ways, the mother of our country.

Dead Disgraced or in Jail June 18, 2009 10:27 PM

I admire the "D" in macroeconomics that she received from Mat Su Community College.

bwahahahahaha !

Kevin June 18, 2009 10:36 PM

Dead or disgraced...

Fitting username.

Gov. Palin: multi-billion dollar state surplus, without an income tax.

Your Lord and Messiah: more debt than all other Presidents combined.

To quote you, "BWAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Greg June 18, 2009 10:37 PM

I admire Sarah Palin because she reminds of of the old Timex commericals where they would strap a Timex to the prop of an outboard motor, run it in the water, the slogan was "It takes a lickin' and keeps on ticking."

The average person would have caved in long ago under the onslaught she and her family has endured for the last 10 months. Yet, everytime I see her she looks stronger and more determined than ever. She doesn't shift or change her positions to curry favor with this or that group, she is who she is, and she's comfortable with that, and so am I.

Ceejay June 18, 2009 10:37 PM

Sarah has common sense, I am really tired of supporting the back stabbing , back room politics that go on today-and Sarah I believe has real core values that sink right down to her soul. She cares for the common people, she does not look down on people she looks up to people, and this is a lady that comes with dignity, integrity and it was just amazing watching her at the RNC convention, she blew us all away, as this so called "unknown" governor from AK, "what can she do or say" left them all in the dust!

Sarah 2012!

bestbud June 18, 2009 10:43 PM

Sarah always talks about the unpretentious living in Alaska, and she exemplifies it!

Sarah's V.P. speech revealed so much about her character... doing her job with a servants heart, I now would add, she no only has a servants heart, it's GOLD! She serves the people.

Sarah's father said in a campaign video, when she was running for Governor, and that I happen to consider represents what Sarah is all about because it looked like what someone might have shot in their backyard.... Sarah in a lawn chair wearing flip flops... other Palin family all around ... Todd in blue jeans etc. ...

Anyway her father, said to Alaskans, in only a few short words.... "I'll guarantee you one thing, She is HONEST"! .... and he said it like, if he had never taught her anything else, that was what he was most proud of.

My wife and I believed this about her , no more than 2 minutes into her V.P. address, she exudes REALNESS AND HONESTY, it is so ingrained into her belief system it bubbles forth with her ever word and mannerism.

This may sound like we have Sarah way too high on a pedestal, if so, I guess we are guilty,... but considering politicians of today, if one can be found possessing traits of this caliber, they will, by default, claim the pedestal.

Brian Davidson June 18, 2009 10:45 PM

One of the many reasons I love the guv is because she is a better "man" than me. If I had to put up with HALF the crap she has, I would have quit a long time ago.

LT June 18, 2009 10:52 PM

Sarah might have gotten a D in a class, but Abraham Lincoln never even went to college. He turned out alright. This is one reason I support her. She has managed to absorb all these attacks with grace and continued determination. The left had to destroy her knowing she would eventually trump Obama if they didn't. They shot every arrow in the bag. She's still here...

Kevin June 18, 2009 10:59 PM

I love her because she radiates warmth, cheer, class, confidence, and trust.

I love her because her character is kind, selfless, courageous, honest, and humble.

I love her because she genuinely believes in public service, not lust for power.

I love her because she cherishes the uniquely American ideals of liberty, individualism, hard work, and sacrifice.

I love her because she is a beautiful, sexy woman who is not ashamed to be a beautiful, sexy woman.

I love her because unlike other politicians, she has actually had to work for a living and knows the struggles of the working class trying to raise a family.

I love her because she is brave and tough enough to criticize the President for his ridiculous policies.

I love her for her defiance of Feminist orthodoxy and her steadfastness of her beliefs.

I love her because she can run a state surplus and keep her state out of recession.

I love her because she will defend America's greatness and never apologize for it.

I love her because she has already done more for American energy independence and created more jobs than 'the One" will ever do.

I love her because she can take down a moose and still look like a supermodel in her dirty hunting clothes.

I would crawl five miles over broken glass for this woman and her family.

i luv the Governor because...

First and foremost..she speaks from the heart...no rhetoric. I've watched her speech at the "right to life" dinner several times and my heart just fills up each time I hear it.
i just love the way she talks about Alaska...man she just loves that place and the people in in.
You just know that Sarah Palin is NEVER gonna let anything bad happen to that state or the people in it. I wish MY Governor spoke/felt about Illinois the way she does about Alaska.
I love how she talks about America...not ashamed to express how proud she is to be an American and thus makes ME proud, unlike our president now who is trying to make us all ashamed to be an American.
Most of all though...I too have a son in the military..actually 2, and i feel that she knows what us "army moms" are going through. I would feel better with Governor Palin as Commander in Chief rather than the one that's in there now.
I feel that the military isn't one of THIS presidents top priorities.

I could go on and on but I think you all probably feel the same way so I guess I don't really have to. Thanks for letting me vent!...lol.

jimr3 June 18, 2009 11:17 PM

I love all those things you cite Seth. But I also love her authenticity and her courage. And it’s her courage that I am going to focus my post on. Since Reagan, Governor Palin is one of the bravest public servants I have ever seen. I knew when John McCain introduced her; the opposition would try to take her down. But what I didn’t know was the swiftness and the ferocity at which the opposition would relentlessly attack her.

On the eve of the RNC Convention speech as the news broke that her oldest daughter was expecting, I thought how in the world is she ever going to be able to walk out on that stage and delver her VP speech. Under normal circumstances the VP speech would be pressure packed enough as is, but in this incredibly difficult circumstance, the pressure would be too much for her to bear. I was proven wrong. Not only did she walk out on that stage with her head held high with a smile on her face, she courageously delivered one of the best convention speeches that I had ever seen. And she delivered her speech with grace and perfection. And then she had me.

And from that moment in Minneapolis, she has displayed tremendous courage on countless occasions.

And to echo what Brian said in his post, she is also a better man than me too – and far better than most men.

Nancy June 18, 2009 11:25 PM

August 28, 2008, I was pretty down, because the image coming out of the DNC was that aerial shot of 80,000 people, listening to Senator Obama's acceptance speech, at Invesco Field, here in Denver.
I was not in on the pick of Governor Palin, like some of you have written about, in fact I had never really heard of her. The only thing I knew was there was a conservative, young, female governor that some of the talk show hosts liked. Her name was Sarah Palin. That's all I knew about her. But, going to bed that night, I had no reason to be excited, because I thought McCain was going to scr#* us again, and pick Ridge or some other RINO.

August 29, 2008, I turn on my radio first thing in the morning, to the Laura Ingraham show, thinking this is going to be an ugly day, because we've got McCain and he is going to pick another RINO, for a running mate. The first words out of Laura's mouth that morning were, "Sarah Palin", and I sat up! That's all she had to say. Well, needless to say, I paced and spoke with alot of skepticism and hope, to no one in particular. My kids, kept asking, "why do you keep saying McCain better not be messing with us?" and "why are you saying this is unbelievable, Mom?" and "McCain hates conservatives, this is unbelievable!" I didn't believe it until she actually walked out on the stage.

I knew she was "it" during that Dayton speech, when she pumped her fist, when the crowd chanted USA! USA!. She did exactly what everybody was doing during the Olympics. A normal person.

Then, when she recognized the military, and she continued to do it during the campaign.

During her RNC speech, she said she was going to go to Washington D.C. to govern with a servant's heart. Abnormal for an ordinary politician, but normal for an extraordinary person.

Her sarcasm is fantastic. My latest favorite is calling President Obama, "the candidate that must be obeyed."

Sorry for the long post, but those are the reasons I support her, admire her, and will defend her to the death.

PEC June 18, 2009 11:45 PM

1. She is not a politician (though she is politically skilled), she is a public servant. She knows she is there to serve the people.

2. Nothing sums her up more than "if I die politically I die". Take last week when everybody was telling her it was politically stupid to take on a comedian, she knew her child was attacked and defended them. Her priotities are in order.

gamsbo June 19, 2009 12:04 AM

As the governor said "I know this for sure" I care and respect Governor Palin and there are many reasons...friends and family ask me what I see in this 45 year old lady...

For me it started with her with her RNC speech wow she had me at hello...Then I watch and listened she didn't change...I listen as she gave a speech on pro-life and cried because she showed this 65 great-mother she had been wrong to say "oh I pro-choice" ...But for me it became personal as I read blogs that were so vile and news reports that only told half the truth or just lied...I could feel for her because on a lower lever I had been there...

I had been a "first" in 1974 I was the first women hired by a Major Oil Company to work in The West Texas Oilfields...so many things were said about me that were not true...it like the governor said"once the bell is rung it cannot be unrung" ...

I watched this extraordinary women hold her head high walk with Grace and give all she had to us...I saw the respect she had for her family...her husband so important to her...he is the rock we all are trying to be...

But the main thing I see in her and lets me know I can trust her is the way she looks people in the eye when they are talking to her...

I try not to make an icon of but fact is she more than an icon she is really she has allowed God to director her life...why do I care about her so many reason...But I know this for sure...I will support her with all my heart and defend her when need be...

PEC June 19, 2009 12:04 AM

O/T - Politico has been one of the main ones reporting from anonymous sources saying Camp Palin is disorganized. With their Olive Garden story maybe the question is "How organized is Politico"? Seems like they get their own house in order before they start following anonymous sources about somebody else.

Nancy June 19, 2009 12:06 AM

I guess what I was trying to say, is that it is abnormal for any politician to say that, but it was normal for her to say it and live it because she is an extraoridnary person. She is a public servant, totally agree, PEC.

narciso June 19, 2009 12:18 AM

You know it's surely a coincidence,
that this is the first anniversary of Bill Dyer's post's announcing her winning a Pajamas Media poll of likely VP candidates, which proved prophetic only a little over
two months later.

http://beldar.blogs.com/beldarblog/2008/06/index.html

This was not the first post that Bill Dyer had done on the subject, that came about two weeks earlier.

bitterclinger June 19, 2009 12:19 AM

After all the slings and arrows she has taken, I love the guv because she feels compelled to do what she has to do to take back this country and leave it a better place than she found it.

To me, she appears driven to persevere because she knows she has something valuable to offer.

Put me down for one broken-glass/crawling session too. Gladly.

(And Dead, I graduated from college with honors and plain old econ was my absolute worst subject. Makes me feel a kinship with the guv even more!)

In March I wrote this response to RAM's brilliant feature, "Who is Sarah Palin?" It was one of the first posts I had submitted to the C4P Website. When RAM gave several others and me kudos in a follow-up blog, I felt like a grade school kid who had been complimented by the school's master teacher:

March 14, 2009

"I have been trying to figure out why I have felt the way I do ever since Governor Palin burst on the national scene August 29. After researching her background that morning, then listening to her impressive remarks and seeing her family on TV from Dayton, I was hooked. Six days later came the blockbuster RNC speech, and I was really hooked.

"Perhaps I felt a connection because I, too, grew up in a small town (in central Kansas), went to a state university and majored in journalism. Or perhaps she reminds me of that girl with whom I went to elementary and high school -- the one from down the street who was rather shy but smart and determined, and had a certain glow about her. Somehow you knew she was destined for something special, but you had no idea what it would be (nor did she).

"And then one day, you look up and there she is...... running for Vice President of the United States. You are so proud because she is authentic, she is "one of us" and she did it all on her own; yet you also feel protective of her, just as if she were still the neighbor girl down the street.

"It may sound strange because, after all, she is the governor of the largest state in the Union, but those are my thoughts, prompted by Ramrocks' wonderful piece of writing and blending of observations. For me, Ramrocks, you captured the essence of what it is about Sarah Palin -- beyond political philosophy -- that draws us to her."

Keep up the great video work, Adam!

Illinois Conservative (Whitney) June 19, 2009 12:55 AM

This is going to be a bit disjointed. I apologize.

I remember August 29th very well. I was sitting at work discussing with a co-worker, a liberal, about who was going to be the Republican VP candidate. I had enter this election as a socially conservative moderate who had yet to choose a party. I did end up deciding to vote Republican and voted for McCain in the primaries ( I think mostly because he reminded me of my grandpa). I digress. My co-worker told me that McCain had chosen the Alaskan governor. Hmm...I thought. I didn't know that there were any Republican women who would even be considered. I began to do my research. Governor Sarah was a high school point guard; I was a high school point guard. She enjoys running; I enjoy running. She plays the flute; I used to play the flute. I know those seem like silly reasons, but I began to see that she was like one of us. She grew in a middle class hard working family, and she has a Midwestern sensibility about her. I love the fact that she's says things like "doggone it" and "heckuva" . Pres. Obama, who was from my home state, does not seem Midwestern at all.

Her acceptance speech blew me away. Her record was amazing. I began to realize that her fiscal conservatism made a heck of a lot of sense. She was unapologetically pro-life.

Her faith in God amazes me. Although it is not something she shoves in people's faces, but it's not something she hides either. It's apparent because no one could face the storm she has over the last year plus without trusting God.

These reasons may seem very much about Sarah the person not Sarah the governor, but I think that proves our point. She is one of us; she doesn't seem like a politician. Yet, she is a great governor. She works for people by providing people more opportunities to work for themselves without interference of the government. She believes in fiscal prudence (one of her favorite words) and personal responsibility.

She never gives up, and she doesn't compromise on principles.

Sapwolf June 19, 2009 1:44 AM

Why does the Sapwolf love the Mommabear, let us count the ways.

1. Sarah is a middle-class mom. She talks in a way that most lower to middle-class Americans can understand. Her feelings and thoughts clearly more align with the average American, not the elitist or the insider. When she looks into your face and listens, she truly is sincere. You cannot detect even one molecule of cynicism or annoyance. Those of you who have shaken her hand, but also shook the hand of say a Charlie Crist understand the difference.

2. Sarah is an American Conservative. These are Russell Kirk’s 10 principles of conservatism:

http://www.kirkcenter.org/kirk/ten-principles.html

Much of her words and life overlap much with the Kirk’nBurkean conservatism. Check out TeamSarah’s Newsletter for a different Kirkian principle each month by the poster “Chris B.”. Here is the link to the Newsletter site.

http://www.teamsarah.org/profile/TeamSarahNewsletter

Click on March or May.

3. Sarah is a Christian. Sarah, as a Christian, has a better than average understanding of the fallen nature of man, and its imperfectability. When set adrift, the human being degenerates without contact with the Creator and the Son. There is a reason why there is so much truth in the statement: “Idleness is the work of the Devil.” And, like the constant maintenance that the human heart, mind, and soul needs, the country needs this maintenance too. Freedom can be lost in only one generation. She understands this as Reagan understood it.

(to be continued)

Sapwolf June 19, 2009 1:46 AM

4. Sarah is simply a really nice person. Yes, behind closed doors she may have to take the fight and strive for certain objectives. She seems to have the ability though to say “no” but without destroying the other side.

5. Sarah has courage. This virtue (and it is a virtue) is what sets Sarah apart from ALL other nationally-recognized leaders. She does not just talk the conservative views of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. She walks it and most importantly, she keeps to her principles as much as possible unlike the rest of the GOP field. Watch a speech of Mitt Romney up close and watch him on TV. But then, watch Sarah. The difference becomes apparent pretty quick. Mitt is a good man, but he is wooden and does not have the courage to follow through to pull the country back from the brink of socialist madness.

6. Sarah is inspiring. Her popularity is not skin deep but very deep. This is why she is so feared by the current administration. They see a huge grassroots uprising that comes from outside Washington DC and focused every arrow at our nation’s capital and its growing overbearing government. She inspires us to possibly make tremendous sacrifices to help stop the madness we are headed into.

7. Sarah has compassion. Sarah knows that compassion starts with the individual, not the state. As a Christian she must know that we cannot build Heaven on Earth. As Christians, Jews, Muslims, other religious people, or other non-religious people but lovers of liberty, when we try to build Utopia using government it all ends up in ruins. Carry our crosses and walk the walk and guess what? Good things happen.

8. Sarah has tremendous grace. Imagine anybody else dealing with the most hateful, vicious media attack in American history on us, and all of it unjustified.

9. Sarah has grit and determination. She is bouncing back like a phoenix. She will not go quietly in the night and will not stand by while she is in a position to fight to protect liberty in our country.

(to be more continued)

Sapwolf June 19, 2009 1:48 AM

10. Sarah is a straight-shooter. Compared to other politicians, she has a very good track record of integrity when it comes to keeping to promises.

11. Sarah gives hope to Americans who see the country falling into the madness, self-destruction, and insanity of socialism and overbearing government in our lives.

12. Sarah Palin is the greatest threat and the most feared politician in the minds of the statists on the left. This is why the trolls respond in numbers to any threads in the internet world. As the current administration makes all the same foolish mistakes with the growing of government, and has to reinvent the wheel of every issue that to us is simple common sense, they see that Sarah is positioning to ride the wave of government reduction and reform that must come after such a devastating self-immolation that is our current regime.

Here are only a few reasons, but the English language is just so inadequate?

DONCHATHINK?

:)

Re: Boxer

Anyone with a brain in their head knows that military personal reflexively refer to their superiors as 'sir' or 'ma'am' as a sign of deference and respect. If their mothers didn't beat it into them, their drill sergeants certainly will.

Their was nothing even remotely disrespectful about the way the general was speaking to Mrs. Boxer and most especially nothing that merited such a belittling retort.

The general did as his should rightly have done, politely refer to her as she had requested - however belligerently.

I, on the other hand, am under no such requirement as Mrs. Boxer works for me and the other 300,000,000 citizens - something that she has completely forgotten or never knew in the first place. It is a privilege for her to serve her fellow countrymen, not something that she has worked hard for regardless of how hard she actually did work.

So, on behalf of all those whose blood pressure spiked upon hearing Mrs. Boxer's comments let me say "&^%$#$%"

Re: Governor Palin

When someone refers to Governor Palin as Sarah it is out of respect and admiration for what she is, what she does, and what she represents.

She is also quick to invite you to call her Sarah as well, as I have noticed. I will wait until I am invited to do so. If my mother ever found out I used her first name without invitation she'd beat me with her cane.

Brianus Berkleianus June 19, 2009 3:58 AM

Guys, the beauty of all your remarks reduces me to quasi-silence. English is not adequate, and perhaps Latin and Greek are not adequate, to express my feelings about Our Sarah. I have posted at other times, in words all too lacking, what she means to me and us. I won't try to reprise those feeble words now. Let me just acknowledge a few of the splendid observations of my glorious fellow "barbarians":

juju: Beautful!!

My sentiments overwhelm my capacity to express myself in language...let me just add a thought or two...I am thinking of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at this moment, and the thought comes to me: Our Sarah is "still there," even after the "outrageous slings" of bile, of filth, of slander, of lies, of hatred directed at her and all she holds in her "deep heart's core"... She is still there...and always will be.

If anyone had told us a year ago, on 19 June, 2008, that God would raise up someone like Sarah, someone whom millions of us would literally lay down our lives to shield and protect (and she would do the same for us, of course)...who, who, who would have believed it?

God's Mercy Knows No Bounds.

God bless you all!!

BTW, my brother's birthday was yesterday:

Brothers and Sisters, PLEASE pray for two things:

1) 20 January, 2013: President Palin

2) 18 June, 2010: my family and I are celebrating my brother's next birthday.

I have not met you guys in person (yet), but I have Brothers and Sisters for life!

SARAH 2012!!!

Interesting that someone mentioned a grade she made in college...if I recollect right, we aren't even allowed to see the president's sealed college transcripts. Hmmmmmm.

Here Here everybody I have nothing to real add except Gov. Palin embodies the American Spirit.

One last thing Gov. Palin is uncorruptible and thank god for that. We as Americans come first.

Several months ago I wrote a scholarship essay about a leader that I admire. Right from reading the prompt, I wanted to write about Gov. Palin.

The day she was announced, I truthfully wasn't that into politics. I had been following the election just from what I heard at school or from the morning news. I didn't like Obama, but there wasn't anyone I did like to really get excited about. However, my grandma made a comment to me about McCain's running mate, and how she really seemed "real." So, I did a little research, watched her being attacked from every angle, and suddenly felt a connection to her that I could not explain. I read up on her record, her life story, and listened to her speeches. From that moment, I was a Sarah Palin fan and continue to be one. I have a poster of her up on my wall to inspire me everyday when I wake up. I recently had some friends over and one person left the room as soon as they saw it, but everyone else loved it. All hope is not lost for the younger generation, at least not here.

Anyway, back to the scholarship essay. I wanted to write about Gov. Palin, but was afraid that if the person reading it was a big Obama fan, I'd be toast. I really wanted that scholarship. However, I also knew I had to stay true to myself and that I could write the best essay about Gov. Palin. So, over several nights, I took extensive notes about her life. I read the original biography about her again. Then, over about a week, I wrote it, and I must say that I was very proud of it. I sent it off and forgot about it. School was out and I still had not heard anything back, so I assumed I had not got it.

But then about a week ago, I got a letter in the mail congratulating me. I had won the $2000 scholarship for my essay about Gov. Palin! I won’t post it here because it is too long, but I would love for other fans of the governor’s to read it because I know that each and every one of us could write that same essay. We’re that passionate about it.

To all the haters out there, know this--while you may think that the governor is dumb or whatever, to me she is an inspiration. I hold my head up high because of Gov. Palin. And now I have $2000 for school because of it.

Hey Holly... maybe you could email it to the editors here and they could add it as a PDF to be downloaded?

I would love to read your essay!

I know lots of fine preachers.

Sarah's integrity rivals theirs.

(Except maybe my mom, also a minister, who is amazing.) ;-)

I think that's why I'm not afraid of her doing a speaking tour across churches, including African-American ones (Democrat Land).

I have always voted Republican but have never really been one to follow politics, I certainly never read much about it or donated to any PAC before.

I admire Gov. Palin. She is a Christian, strong, smart, savvy, astute, stubborn, hard working, honest, caring, down to earth woman.

I like that she is a woman who is nice, yet she is tough as nails, she does not take nonsense from anyone yet she is still feminine. She is just like me.

I loved how after the campaign when she gave a few interviews from her home you could tell that she did not have a "stager" come in and set up a lovely backdrop. I could see behind her and see colored drawings taped up in the kitchen. Stuff piled on a chair in the corner. A picture on the wall that is crooked, stuff on the counters....her house is real just like she is real.

Looking at these pics, no wonder the left hates the Palins. They are hotter than Brad and Angelina.
Liberals can't stand attractive conservatives.

Great Post Seth!!

I also admire Gov. Palin for her faith.

Ronald Reagan came to faith after an attempt on his life. Which I believe was during his second term.

Gov. Palin came to faith at 14. This is a long and deep faith that has gone through the ups and downs. It is faith that has dealt with many of the same issues that all of us have dealt with whether we have faith or not.

IMHO I believe that it is the concrete faith element(If I die, I die) of Gov. Sarah Palin that causes a MAJOR part of PDS.

The Left/MSM FEAR the deep and long faith of Gov. Sarah Palin MORE SO than the airing of ALL of the faith statements of Ronald Reagan on the t.v./cable/radio/which were wonderful!!

Barack H. Obama suggested during the primaries of 08' that he has the same kind of MOJO as Ronald Reagan.

not to get too focused on the Bible, but if you look at the left with this perspective, it makes sense:

They hate God and cannot fathom a "loving" God administering justice. The judgement is what they rail against.

They remove accountability / personal responsibility, etc.

They believe Hitler doesn't deserve a place in heaven but everyone else does, with a few other notable exceptions.

It boils down to they hate God and those who serve him.

Though this may seem like a random point, it's related to above: if a peacock in its full beauty was discovered on Mars, the "world" would be ga-ga. Because when they rejoice at a (false) report of water being found on Mars, what they consciously proclaim is "there IS life on Mars", which is a subtle way of saying "there IS intelligence on other planets".

But when the "world" see a peacock (or penguin) (or 1,000's of other wonderful creations) on EARTH, what do they say: "it came from slime !"

I've always wondered, how do the evolutionists say that the world is perfectly positioned from the sun, tilting at 23 1/2 degrees, rotating 24 hours a day, circling the sun every 365 days, etc. Is this also the result of evolution / natural selection ??? ha ha

Also, be aware that your children are now being brain-washed into evolution through the movies. This is just one example: At the "Up" Pixar movie (which is great), there were previews of other movies. One was an animated movie that had four or so "cute" characters, I forget exactly what they were or the kind of movie it was. Each of the characters had a cute name, along the lines of "Moxie", "Jello", "Louigie", and "Darwin". Now I ask, you, of those four names, which one doesn't belong?

Have a great day !

I luv the way she stands by her convictions. She stands tall even in the face of her critics. She doesn't change her position depending on which way the wind blows or to win popularity or favor. I didn't want a Prom King (which is what we got) for President. I wanted a leader that represented all that is good and just about America. Someone that loves this country and all that are in it.

We are a Nation that has a Government; Not a Government that has a nation. Ronald Reagan
