ABC Does What it is Usually Does and Plays Games with Gov. Palin's Answers
ABC reports:
After her bombshell announcement Friday that she was resigning as governor of Alaska 18 months before the end of her first term, and questions about her political future ricocheting from Alaska to Washington D.C., Sarah Palin packed it up, traveled more than 300 miles from her family home in Wasila and went fishing.
[...]
Palin said she was surprised by the media storm that followed her announcement to leave office, saying she thought it would not have been "such a darn big deal." But she struck a determined, if vague, note about her future.
"I said before I stood in front of the mic the other day, you know, politically speaking -- if I die, I die. So be it," Palin said.
[...]
Palin hinted that whether she holds elected office again, she does not intend to live a quiet life made up entirely of family fishing trips. "I don't need a title to be the one to usher in what it is that needs to be done in our state or our country."
Palin conceded many people are still confused about why she made the decision to leave office.
"You know why they're confused? I guess they cannot take something nowadays at face value," Palin said.
[...]
Palin spoke openly about her ideas for the country, national security and energy, and she took a dim view of politicians. "No, I don't really like a whole lot of politicians," she said.
Salmon fishing is a family affair for the Palins. Their fourth child, daughter Piper, age 8, was on hand to help. And 1-year-old baby Trig, who Palin said is getting ready to walk, stayed back on shore.
ABC also felt the need to do this:
"I think on a national level, your department of law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we've been charged with and automatically throw them out," she said.
There is no "Department of Law" at the White House.
There is a "Department of Law" in Alaska. Governor Palin was simply saying that the President would be protected from the petty complaints that she received as governor by something similar to the Alaska Department of Law. Would you expect anything better from the network that brought you the Charlie Gibson interview?
Also, note to the smartass who wrote this report: "Wasila" is actually "Wasilla." Two "Ls" there, chief.

The All Barack Channel (ABC) takes its cues from a man who calls Wasilla, Wasilly. No wonder they couldn't spell it correctly. Remember in the Obama interview right after Gov. Sarah was announced, and he was asked about the governor?
OMG!!! Sarah doesn't know the ins and outs of the independent counsel law!!!! We're DOOMED!!!!! /[sarc]
Oh man, ya'll, she was spitting fire back at that reporter!
Fighter x 10
She's correct.
The US government has the equivalent of a dept. of law and other tools to prevent charges from hampering the ability to function as the President.
She talks in some respects like I do, using a term from her Alaska perspective what I can immediately understand she is referring to the federal equivalent.
Does anybody think for a second that Celtic Diva and the others could pin down a sitting POTUS?
She made the right move.
Her options are WIDE OPEN, and they are at the national level.
I agree with Techno's earlier post about a possible scenario developing, but I would throw in an added twist.
After fighting hard for libertarian/conservatives candidates and causes, including helping more conservatives reach Congress in 2010, the book tour, studying up, and MOST important, the continued implosion of the US economy and totalitarian overreaching by Obama and the Dems, an interesting thing will happen not long after the 2010 election.
Her millions of supporters will BEG and CHEER her on to run for POTUS. She will listen to them, and in the end, she will not be able to resist the chance to serve the people as our President.
WE will convince her in the end that it is BEST for the country that she runs, and her "Servant's Heart" may lead her to the WH.
OK, I am going on vacation in a couple of hours. Just so you all know I have crossed the Rubicon so don't think I am quitting. Just will only be able to track and not post for a week.

Have fun!

Gov. Palin had all kinds of opprotunity to say "No, I am not running for POTUS. Instead, I will raise my family and do ______."
She still wants to be POTUS, but she is focused on 2010 right now. IMO she thinks that 2012 is worthless if 2010 does not change Congress being controlled by the Dems because Obama will ruin everything so badly. ("It's about conutry")
Like always, she is setting goals up and moving one step at a time...2010, and THEN 2012.
Also, I think that all these reporters trying to say what she is thinking or doing blah, blah, blah...is making her....well
MAD.
As she gets more aggravated, I think she will be motivated big time to make her money writing her first book, then get right on her 2nd book that will really spell out her policy. America will be in bad shape by then...all the while setting up her team for a run in '12.
Yea, they are really making Palin mad. She is the type that is more motivated when someone gets on your nerves, or tells you that you are not able to do something.
Silly boys...don't make Palin mad.
Truth be told...I can't wait for Sarah to be done...
Then we can watch her do some serious smack down in D.C. !!!!!
Oh, I can't wait!!!!!!
She has an agenda...and I'm excited about it!!
So, "There is no "Department of Law" at the White House." is ALL they got from, the interview?
Then ABC wasted its time. Why did they travel that far?
Sarah is amazing! Nothing and nobody will change that.

They wanted to learn to pick fish?

Regarding the aftermath of the 2010 midterms and Sarah being 'drafted' by her supporters I have often commented that once she is proclaimed to a 'conquering hero' in the GOP the nomination will be hers.
My focus is on her accomplishment; yours is on the popular reaction to the accomplishment-six of one and half a dozen of another.

LOL
Good riddance, Sarah. We'll miss all your quippy podunk phrases and your general ignorance about everything outside of Alaska.
I believe Sarah Palin shows great integrity. That is a trait not found in career politicians. They do not know the meaning of integrity. She is not politics as usual. Sarah will now be able to defend herself without the confines of a public office to think about. I believe Sarah wants to be part of the solution, not the problem. The problem is politics as usual. Look at our hired public servants. They are not putting country first. They want to socialize this country. We need to get those misrepresentatives out of office and I believe Sarah can help lead the way. I am proud of Sarah Palin. She is a mama bear. You want to mess with her cubs, you'll have to take on the mama. How many of us could have dealt with all Sarah endured. What happened to her family was just disgusting. The media and far left are cowards and fools. Sarah is off to bigger and better things. God bless you Sarah, Todd, your children and your families. Thank you for your service!
Will, Sarah did do one thing right and she didn't lie about it--Alaska IS better off without her. I guess you can stop the legal defense fund now, since she is aborted her job and is free and able to make millions, instead of begging from hard WORKING people.
