Addressing the Critics: Palin is an Honest Fighter and She Knows How to Pick Her Battles
I am weary of this, friends. But this absurd Washington Post article must be fisked.
Just look at this sentence:
Many complaints against Palin have been dismissed, a few are still pending, and several resulted in critical findings.
Several? What the hell are they talking about? They were all dismissed. One was settled with no finding of any ethics violation or any wrong doing. Several? That’s a damn lie.
And look at this:
Palin was accused of improperly billing the state for per diem expenses while she stayed at the family home in Wasilla. She was ordered to pay back taxes but has not disclosed the amount.
It's true that Zane Henning, who has already had one frivolous complaint tossed, filed a complaint about her per diems. But the fact remains that she was entitled to collect them. She didn't collect them for her kids or her husband, though she was legally entitled to do so. And the Juneau governor's mansion was undergoing extensive repairs at the time. She collected a $60 per diem in lieu of having the state put her up in a hotel or a rented apartment (which they did for Tony Knowles and Frank Murkowski for much much more money). You find me a decent hotel room for a family of seven for $60 a day. Here's a fact no one can dispute: She spent less that her predecessors! Sarah Palin and her family cost the State of Alaska less than her predecessors.
(As a side note, people often forget that state senator Kim Elton was charging the state per diems to travel from his house in Juneau to the State Capitol in Juneau! And he charged more money for per diems than Gov. Palin did! And his per diems were only covering the regular and special legislative sessions. Gov. Palin's were for the entire year. Where's the outrage, anklebiters?)
And as for the taxes on per diems, who "ordered her" to pay them? The IRS? How in the world would the WashPo know that? And it was not a matter of wrong doing. She had no idea that the per diems were taxable. That was only discovered when tax attorneys from around the country combed through her tax returns during the election.
One of the most disturbing aspects of this WashPo article is the oft repeated canard pushed by Andree McLeod that she and Palin were once close friends and collaborators. Our own Tim Lindell exposed the stupidity of this Saint Andree nonsense. The person claiming this is Andree. The historic record does not show that Andree "made Sarah Palin." Andree is a delusional nutjob who hates Sarah Palin. The leftwingers who control most of our mainstream media hate Sarah Palin; therefore, they are willing to believe a nutjob's delusions of grandeur.
I’ve noticed that whenever this absurd claim is made, the writers quote from the same two emails that Palin apparently sent to Andree McLeod once, but they never provide context as to what these two brief email conversations were about. I write hundreds of emails every week. I'm sure I've written nice emails to crazy people. I've even said complimentary things about people who I later learned were total nut jobs.
The WashPo writers note with wistful rue that if one runs as an ethics reformer, one invariably sets oneself up to be knocked down. Well, actually, no, not necessarily. Not in a world without Alinsky.
Alinsky and his followers are the ones who will target you if you run as a reformer. Never forget Rule #4 of Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals”:
Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules. You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.
They made her live up to an impossible and nonsensical standard. They even changed the standard on her so as to keep her off balance. In the words of that great internet epigrammarian Jim Treacher, "They shot at her feet and then arrested her for violating the no dancing ordinance."
The clueless critics will ask, How will she handle the heat in DC if she can’t Juneau?
The answer is simple: The Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act doesn't exist in DC.
Here is the plain sad truth, people. If the confidentiality loop hole in the Executive Branch Ethics Act had been closed, this situation would not have existed.
Let me explain.
Alaska’s Legislative Ethics Act has a strict confidentiality provision. When you file an ethics complaint, you are not allowed to publicize it. If you do, the complaint gets thrown out automatically. This protects lawmakers from frivolous politically motivated complaints. If a frivolous complaint is filed, no one knows about it. And when it is dismissed because it is without merit, no one knows about it. Therefore, a lawmaker’s reputation is in no way tarnished by frivolous complaints.
Imagine if that same rule had applied to the complaints filed against Gov. Palin. Imagine that McLeod, Biegel, Henning, et al. were not allowed to publicize their frivolous complaints. Their stupid complaints were found to be without merit. They were dismissed. If confidentiality had been honored, then no one would have known about these complaints. There wouldn’t have been the “publicity stress” on Gov. Palin and her administration. She and her staff wouldn’t have felt the need to address these complaints publicly at all. They would have felt much more secure in the knowledge that politically motivated complaints would not harm their administration.
That wasn’t the case. Each one was publicized for maximum damage.
In Juneau, she was stymied by a legislature that made her personally the issue. They were playing politics with crucial priorities for Alaska (like the in-state natural gas bullet line) simply because they were her priorities. They made her personally the issue, and not the issues that she was actually pursuing. As a public servant who loves Alaska and wants the state to progress, she felt that the environment in Juneau was too toxic and that she could only advance the ball by passing it to Parnell.
She did not have the support of her own party, which is still led by a chairman who had to pay the largest ethics fine in the state’s history because Sarah Palin blew the whistle on his corrupt activities. The majority of the Republicans in Alaska hate her even more than the Democrats. Prior to the 2008 campaign, she had established a broad base of support in the legislature among Democrats and decent Republicans. After the election, the Democrats “went home” to their side. Perhaps they were taking marching orders from Outside. Who knows? Perhaps someday we’ll find out more.
But the AK GOP was even worse. There is no love lost between her and the still ethically challenged members of her state party. The difference between Juneau and DC is quite obvious – in DC she will have a party supporting her.
The critics will say, if she can’t take the opposition heat on a local level, how will she take it on a national level? After all these were just some inconsequential Alaskan bloggers?
Please. She is taking the heat nationally and locally. The hostility and hatred directed at her will not let up. These Palin-hating loons have sullied our political discourse, and they will no doubt continue to do so.
Sarah Palin knows that they will continue to attack her and her family. It won’t let up just because she is no longer the governor.
But if the Palins are forced to fight a never-ending battle with people who adhere to the politics of personal destruction, then it might as well be a battle of their own choosing. Sarah Palin chooses to address a larger audience and to fight the larger battle of confronting the great issues facing our nation.
The critics will claim that she is a narcissist and that she abandoned the people of Alaska.
Please. If she were truly a narcissist she would remain for another year and simply take a paycheck and enjoy all the government perks. The ethics complaints are being tossed one after another. But they are continuing to cost the state money. They are distracting her administration. She can’t get anything done because of this damn loop hole in the Executive Branch Ethics Act.
And in the meantime, the country needs her. We need a leader of the opposition.
She has achieved a position of national prominence, and the nation needs her to provide a message of fiscal sanity and a return to constitutionally proscribe limited government. These are the times for a bold new voice. We need Sarah Palin.
The political rules afforded to other politicians were never afforded to Sarah Palin.
By any objective standard her term as governor has been a resounding success.
She made real progress for the first time in over 30 years in getting a natural gas pipeline built. She increased her state’s revenue by instituting ACES, which encourages development. She reduced government spending and dramatically reduced her state’s federal earmark requests in order to encourage her state to be more self-reliant and less dependent on federal government. She even spent less in her own personal expenses than prior administrations. She fulfilled every promise she made when she campaigned for governor -- every one of them.
These are successes that any politician would dream of having, and yet few are willing to give Sarah Palin credit for these achievements.
Her children are attacked though other politicians’ children are off limits.
The rules of the game, as established by others, don’t seem to apply to her. So she decided to change the rules. She has now established her own rules. She is operating on her own terms, and she will take her message to the people of this country who are eager to find a way forward from a government that is incompetent in addressing the challenges facing our nation.
In this WashPo article she said:
I will take the battle nationally and I won't shy away from challenging the powerful, the entrenched, the corrupt and anyone standing in the way of getting our country back on the right track.
We've got your back, Guv. Raise the banner high. We'll rally!

Well said! I too am weary of the constant biased attacks and lies being spread about Sarah. We will fight the good fight with her and let the chips fall where they may,
Ram,
"If the confidentiality loop hole in the Executive Branch Ethics Act had been closed, this how situation would not have existed."
Get rid of the "how."
Great write-up.
>> ... in DC she will have a party supporting her.
Exactly why Ms. Palin will be very careful and fervent about campaigning for candiates for Novemeber 2010. She will be putting her team in place.
Some of this will end when Sarah leads the repubs to decent results in 2010.But only from the right! The left will be frothing at the mouth like the rabid dogs they are.
Does Michael Steele + Bilingual Ballots = New Republican Majority?
So says this writer who is ecstatic about the "New Republican Party" that he says Steele is creating.
http://www.pnwlocalnews.com/south_king/fwm/opinion/51530632.html
I on the other hand doubt Republicans can out pander the Democrats on the issue of "Identity Politics"(Racial Politics). As long as Republicans choose to fight the Democrats on battlefields of the Democrat's own choosing they will lose. It's simple Sun Tzu.
The Republican party continues to go further and further away from the direction we need it to go for a vehicle of positive change. I feel that the only option left to us is a new party because even if the Republicans win next time I don't see them as significantly enough different from what we have now.
Could Palin win as a Republican? I believe she could. But to do so she will first have to go through Michael Steele. He will continue to throw roadblocks in her way as long as he remains chair of the RNC. In fact unless Michael Steele is first defeated, I don't think Palin could indeed win the party nomination.
I do think more has to be changed wrt to the ethics laws. Even if the complaints were thrown out if they are made public, the Gov. and her staff would still have to spend a lot of their time addressing them and spend a lot of state and personal money. She would still need the defense fund. This seemed to be the bigger reason why she decided to resign, rather than to avoid dealing with the public smear campaign.
IMO, the "tea parties" are a waste of a time. I've never been a fan, never will be.
You're protesting Congress. 500+ idiots rightly elected (most of them, anyway) by their individual constiuents. In some districts, the voters would vote for Goebbels as long as Goebbels had a (D) after his/her name. How do you overcome that by screaming, marching, and waving signs?
Congress did not lay down last year and offer its belly for Barack Obama to rub and did not offer its soul to him.
That would be our newspapers, TV networks, and most non-daily print publications.
Why not protest right in front of the WaPo and NYTimes buildings? Why not protest in front of Black Rock (CBS)?
It is they who put Obama in the White House by covering up his ultra liberal views during his campaign. It is they who will spin almost every mistake he makes or verbal slip up into an advantage for him. It is they who will continue to try to destroy Sarah 24/7 so they can ensure that their "boy" can remain in office another four years.
Until "they" know that we are not going to take it quietly "this time" , they will continue to help push this country into something we may never be able to save in the future.
Beautiful piece RAM.
RAM,
That was excellent! Thank you!
Gardunne , you underestimate the effect of the tea party's.
gardunne63 I think that you are right the networks are totally dishonest. That said there is a march on wash dc Sept 12 and I will be there.
There are 10,000 residents in Wasilla and 5000 or more came out to her picnic.
Right now, I am more angry at the Republican Party for not standing up for this woman. I don't care if they always agree with her, or not, or even if some of them don't want her to run in 2012. If they are so stupid to believe that they can continue to stab her in the back, and expect to somehow win the election in 2012, well, honestly, I think they are making a grave mistake. They will only further the divide within the party.
They have stood by and watched the left, and some of their own, call for all out war on this woman, and frankly I have had enough of it. I always voted for the Republican nominee, even when I didn't especially like the candidate because I knew that they had to be better than whomever the Dem was.
I have started making phone calls, sending e-mails & letters to everyone of them that I hear say anything against this woman. I am letting them know that I WILL NOT support any one of them, in any way, if I hear another falsehood come out of their mouth about her. If they don't have the decency to, at least, know the truth and say it, I will not support any one of them for ANYTHING!
It's one thing to have an opinion, it's another to pick up the lies from the opposition and repeat it as truth.
i'm not new here...was formerly know as "stuffy"...using my real name, because I want it to be heard for Sarah.
But the AK GOP was even worse. There is no love lost between her and the still ethically challenged members of her state party. The difference between Juneau and DC is quite obvious – in DC she will have a party supporting her.
Doesn't look like there's too much love lost between Sarah and the National GOP types either.
Here's the National RNC contact page:
http://www.gop.com/Connect/ContactUs.htm
They have an email link.
With Sarah, nothing she does will be judged fairly. Had she stayed in office, every move would be analyzed, and more needless time and money wasted!
They are so schizophrenic ... first they say Sarah is incompetent to be holding any office, but now she's "abandoning" the voters. LOL
listen to what Sarah says. She will support candidates on both sides of the aisle who follow conservative principles. Populism and is on the rise and Sarah is at the crest of this wave.
Wait till she starts stumping for candidates for 2010 and the massive crowds and media frenzy that will surround her.
The RNC will come begging.
"Here is the plain sad truth, people. If the confidentiality loop hole in the Executive Branch Ethics Act had been closed, this situation would not have existed.

I've been thinking lately that this convenient situation is just a little too damn convenient.
The Legislature is protected, but THIS Governor was not. The way things have turned out, I'm finding it harder and harder to accept that this loophole only effecting the Executive Branch was an accident, or "innocent oversight" as I've heard.
I think some in the Legislature had it out for Sarah from the beginning, some R's and some D's.
What are the possibilities of the loophole having been purposefully written, or maybe the pertinent clause for penalties for violating confidentiality were stripped out in House-Senate Conference, and it slipped by the Governor and her staff, and she signed her own political death warrant by design of a few Legislators who controlled the process of marking up the ethics reform bills?
I realize that this bill was the first thing she got passed, way before Troopergate or McCain picking her.
I think that her defeat of Murkowski, and her defeat of Knowles had the establishment looking for a way to derail her from the start. That loophole could have been an intentional setup to be of use a little later if necessary.
No evidence, I just smell a RAT.
A big, stinky RAT.
Another great write up RAM, per your usual.
Ethics and moral decency do not exist in media at large. I have no respect for the MSM. It would be amazing to do some sort of march on the media. Imagine huge crowds for the big 3 morning shows, and then simultanously everyone turning their backs to the camera's. It would be really hard to coordinate though.
How are we going to counter the distorted media image?
How can we spread the truth?
Honestly, the MSM accounts of Sarah Palin, read like the tracts put out by college radicals. They're juvenile, pedantic, and patently absurd.
p.s. Here's a little newsflash for Bay Buchanon. Repeating the lie that Sarah "can't" win the presidency is laughable. If she can't win the presidency, why are you even discussing her? If she can't win the presidency why is ANYBODY even discussing her.
Before we determine who can -- or who CAN'T win - How 'bout we have a little vote, first, huh Bay? ;-)
If Steele doesn't start really touting Palin, and soon, I say, he's gotta go -- only hurting GOP chances in '12.
I used to think that since the Dems are goin down the tubes with Obama, and there's no turning around for them, the only real foes for Palin were Romney (and to a lesser extent Huckelbee).
Now I see things as really Palin v. Steele. Both have real different visions for the GOP. Steele has already proven himself a failure. And I don't say this, that is criticizing Steele, with any pleasure. He has been a big disappointment because I initially had such high hopes there.
Ted, the only problem with that is Micheal Steele has been supportive of Gov. Palin.
He introduced her at the Indiana Right to Life Dinner, was very complimentary, and Sarah came out and explicitly said "Thank you Micheal, I support you."
I've seen nothing to indicate things have changed since then.
Being the Party Chairman, he cannot endorse any one candidate, especially this early in the process.
I think they are on the same side.
I think Stephanie said it so well I will just add...kudos to Stephanie for words well spoken
Check this out from IRS pub 1542.
It appears that there is no IRS daily "per diem" allowance for AK. A daily per diem allowance is the amount of daily income that an employee can obtain for living expenses before any of it becomes taxable.
The IRS only grants a per diem allowance for the lower 48 states. Those daily allowances by the way appear to be a lot greater than $60 a day.
Introduction
This publication is for employers who pay a per diem allowance to employees for business travel away from home within the continental United States (CONUS) (the 48 contiguous states), on or after October 1, 2007, and before January 1, 2010. It gives the maximum per diem rate you can use without treating part of the per diem allowance as wages for tax purposes. For a detailed discussion on the tax treatment of a per diem allowance, see chapter 11 of Publication 535, Business Expenses, or Revenue Procedure 2008-59, 2008-41 I.R.B., which can be found on the Internet at www.irs.gov/irb/2008-41_IRB/ar13.html.
----------------
If you go to link and look at the Per Diem Rate Tables you will see that AK is excluded.
The payroll accountants in the AK government should have been aware of this and included a note in SP's W2 stating that all of this income was taxable.
Though its beyond me why only states in the lower 48 have a per diem allowance and AK does not

Nobody has any thoughts on my big stinky RAT theory?
I think it's an important question that needs to be explored, if only to prove it did not happen that way.
Something ain't right about this whole ethics complaint mess, that's for sure.
sarah needs to fire out more op-ed's
the media is digging for smears, and thats when you need to throw out distractions or give interviews
she can't let them fill vacuum like this.
I am very annoyed to see that the front page of the Drudge Report inaccurately quotes Sarah Palin, following a misquotation in the Politico story by Jonathan Martin.
She said we should "never apologize...for being Americans" not "never apologize for our country." Both sentiments may be true, but the latter one implies that America has never done anything worth apologizing for, whereas the first implies that we should be proud of our citizenship in one of the most free countries on earth.
Do journalists make any effort whatsoever?
AKReport - 'zactly. It's a huge problem. There's such a large demand for Palin content -- pro/con/anything -- that the news stations will simply fill it with third-party analysis rather than Sarah talking directly to the people.
When she talks directly to the public, her numbers move demonstrably for the better. It's only when the news media gets to fill the void that she runs into problems.
Some video of the governor in Anchorage:

The D.C. Cocktailers vs. The Wal-Mart Picnickers
Really, how many of those pretty boys up at these picnics in Alaska wouldn't give their right arms to be back in D.C., right now. Standing around at one of their endless cocktail parties, sipping a gin and tonic? (I don't have a clue about cocktails, but it sounded like something out of a movie!:) I don't know.)
The media is try to attack her as if she will start doing speeches on Monday. This is why they are doing so may hit pieces on her.
Just look at how Kerry and Boxer teamed up with some attack op-ed on her that really held no wieght.
Brian I think you are probably right to never put anything past a group of lifetime politicians They usually know the loopholes and exclusions they slip into bills.Just look at the health care fiasco.
When did the journalist motto become:
Write story, do not ask questions. Ever.?
Or do they ask the question, but then they become the brick wall of listening and understanding. Smiling, nodding, but not comprehending. Or refusing to comprehend.
They go on and on about how Governor Palin is not curious. That accusation coming from these 8th grade level journalists is not just rich, it's filthy rich!
Something stinks about the whole situation.
Who were the members and Chairmen of the relevant committees dealing with that ethics bill?
Were the versions from the two chambers any different, and what was sent to the Governor's office?
What happened in Conference?
Why wasn't this loophole caught in the Governor's Office?
These are a few questions I think need to be answered.
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
It would sure be nice to know for sure.
If I'm right, there are some heads that need to roll. Alaskans should know, Americans should know.
THANK you, C4P. You give me the best news on Sarah.
Excellent -- EXCELLENT -- post.
Brian72, I find you comments very plausable and thought provoking.
Down at the Open Thread, someone posted that CNN interviewed Celtic Diva, who's at the picnic today. Diva said that Willow was giving her the evil eye. :)
Thanks MzCoyote2U
I'm just fed up, and it's the only way I can think of to let them know how I feel. We need to stop thinking that the Repub leaders, or even some conservatives, are going to do the fighting for us. So many of them are flat out scared they're going to offend someone within the Democrat Party, or Independents, that they might be able to draw a vote from. They need to remember what the Repubican Party is supposed to stand for and get a flippin' backbone! They need to stand together as ONE party. It is the people within the party that will decide who the nominee will be, and they better start listening to ALL of us!
Here's the funny thing to me: I guess I'm the country club/cocktail party/charity ball type, but I strongly support Sarah Palin--moreover, I cannot understand how anyone could find fault with her as an elected leader.
Thank you, Mr. Altman.
I keep thinking about the people writing and marking up the ethics legislation, and I keep seeing in my head Jay Ramras, Hollis French and Lyda Green.
Red Flags flying for me there.
Am I the only one waiting for a true journalist (I realize that's an oxymoron these days) to investigate the connection between the DNC (aka Rahmbo "ballerina" Emmanuel) and this blatantly obvious smear campaign? I can look around on the internet for about 5 minutes and connect the dots, but our "fourth estate" - or even our fifth estate (the bloggers) - don't bother (?). It seems to me that a career can be made by revealing this obvious connection to the public at large.
I know why the MSM doesn't, but I still don't understand why an ambitious journalist doesn't. Either way, if you investigate and break such a story, a career has been made.
I'm still shocked by this. Maybe some are afraid of the ballerina running our great nation, but that little freak is no match for hardcore truth.
Just my humble opinion.
Can someone explain a little more about who Andree McLeod is? I know "anklebiter" and a "disgruntled office seeker". Was she a part of the Gov's election campaign? Or maybe just a volunteer? Did she have any part of AOGCC?
Just seen a lot of general talk about her here in recent weeks, but no specifics. I spent a little Google time, but found little more.
Maybe one of the experts could enlighten some of us newbies! (Just a few sentences, I know it might hurt for any more! Ha Ha!
Norah reports that she is over the $1 million mark for her PAC....so she's probably at over $300,000 this month from just small donors.

ahahaha
That is hilarious. The Diva is extremely lucky Willow didn't pop her one.
I'm proud of Willow for restraining herself. I don't think I could have. :)
OT: Tom over at It's a Kwazy Life posts this tease:
"Just got back from Govenor's picnic. Wireless hell. I have few pics to post. Eddie Burke will have an interesting Monday show.
Will update with pics and story on Eddie."
http://thomasalamb.blogspot.com/
According to Tammy Swofford's blog, Andrea was a long time work affiliated with the anti reform republicans, she ran in 2004 for a legislative seat with $1700.00 in contributions from Veco, she lost eventually migrated into the Palin administration, but her priorities
don't coincide, I remember those details when I followed a link on the comic thread, not surprising that VF would miss this detail
"She fulfilled every promise she made when she campaigned for governor -- every one of them."
She has walked the walk 100% of the time. She has been living by her own book of rules all along, so Alinsky's Rule #4 is a non issue. Just one more reason why they are terrified of her.
The media knows that this is going to be Sarah's week so they are preemptively attacking her. She will obviously do a bunch of interviews this week in the aftermath of her last day in office, so they have to attack her now. But after tomorrow there will be no looking back for Sarah on this new frontier. God bless Sarah!
Way to go RAM.
I'm going to make copies of this and the next time I run into someone who makes an inane comment about her (which in these parts is a given) and I'm too tired to slap them down, I'll hand it too them and say "What she said!".
Down at the Open Thread, someone posted that CNN interviewed Celtic Diva, who's at the picnic today. Diva said that Willow was giving her the evil eye. :)
===
Linda just can't say no to a picnic, eh?
I think any interviews she does now will just be rehashes of analyzing her July 3 speech and asking, "What are you going to do?"
Best to wait a few weeks and then talk about what she is doing and has just done.
Exactly, TSM, she doesn't need to speak out now, unless she has something to say, which she might
relating to cap n trade, maybe health care, maybe after her Simi Valley address, I hope they have a video feed for that
Considering that there won't be another official report on the pac for what 6 months how in the hell can Norah make that statement. Sure sounds good, 270k in less than 30 days.
I apologize if anyone else has already commented on this, but Drudge Report has a SarahPac ad front and center (top of page) every time you go there, which millions of Americans do every week. It's been there for awhile, and obviously part of her strategy.
What's so funny, and why she chose that medium to advertise in such a way, is that the headline is always about barry screwing up in some incredibly offensive way to normal Americans. And then, right above barry, is the 'cuda smiling and asking for donations. Brilliant.
But, Peggy Noonan tells me she's a nitwit, so I guess I'm wrong. After all, Peggy lives in NYC.
Go 'cuda, go.
I don't think the ethics complaint plot worked because every one I know here in L A knows that they are frivolous and that she has been cleared of all of them. L A is Liberal and most of the people I know are Liberal Democrats. The MSM and the Hatefilled Left went too far and they have damaged their own credibility to the point that most people don't believe them and know they are hacks . So the only people who will believe that Sarah Palin did anything unethical are the ones who want to belive it.
What I find so darn funny about all of it is that she HAS told everyone what she plans to do. They just aren't listening!
They're all speculating whether she's going to run for Prez and when, but, as far as I know, has anybody else said they are definitely running?
She's got the media running in circles & they don't even realized they're being played. Who's so dumb, now, jacka$$e$?
RAM,
I love reading your write-ups. It's write-ups like these that make me so proud to call C4P my favorite place on the web.
I know it makes you want to chew nails and spit steel. But please, see the whole board. It’s only the Washington Post. Real people don’t buy it. Real people don’t read it. Real people don’t care what’s in it. It’s Beltway muffins jabbering to other Beltway muffins.
Start with the Cap & Tax OpEd. She hijacked the news cycle with just 15 column-inches. No interviews. No leaks. No follow up talk show visits. No calls to radio shows plugging the thing. No clarifications. No responses to the detractors. Nothing; just 15 column-inches.
Consider the resignation. No leaks. No speculation from anonymous sources. No heads up to the noiseworks. No follow up interviews. No handlers. No photo-ops. No designated spinners. Nothing. Just one phone call to a local TV station and a short speech in her back yard that she wrote herself. Another hijacking! The noisework sock puppets couldn’t shut up about her. They droped Michael Jackson and put her on. They ran the clips over and over. They yammered and they jabbered and the more they did the more they proved they knew nothing and suspected less.
What happened next? She ignored the media. No follow up interviews. No spinners. No surrogates. No leaks. No “sources within the Palin camp.” Nothing. Instead, She goes to a parade with her family and stands in the crowd like everybody else dressed in the most casual (actually grubby) clothes you can imagine. Then, she makes the media kings and queens go to some tiny town that isn’t even on a map, slog through mud, and sit in fish guts just so they can put her on their air for 3 minutes. Of course, she says absolutely nothing she didn’t say in the backyard speech. Yet, this kabuki dance hijacks another news cycle!
Then what? Again, silence. She hops around Alaska so fast that the noiseworks can’t keep up with her. Again, she completely ignores the national media. Then, she holds her farewell picnics and, again, completely ignores the media. No press tents. No interviews. No photo ops. No handlers. No spinners. Nothing. Yet, she once again hijacks the news cycle. So, you think maybe she can win a fight with somebody who buys ink by the barrel? You betcha!
And what is the result? She doesn’t have a title. She doesn’t have a headquarters. She doesn’t have “people.” She doesn’t have an entourage. She doesn’t travel in private jets or in parades of SUVs with blacked out windows. She doesn’t have a compound. In fact, she has no money and no job. Yet, next to the president, she is now the most powerful politician in America. Is it just because she’s discovered some new magic media strategy? No. Is it because she has secretly cobbled together a cadre of political experts to guide her every move? No. Is it because she is some Machiavellian mastermind? No my friend, it is because of her character. It is her God fearing faith, integrity, humility, and servant’s heart. The hate of her persecutors her testifies to it. “All men will hate you because of me …” Jesus to His disciples, quoted in Matthew 10:22.
Do not be discouraged. God is with us yet. And if God has raised her up, then no power on earth can defeat her.
Wow, Vadm, that's a GREAT write-up. That deserves reposting on some other threads higher up the page so no one misses it!

I LOVE your posts! You hit the ball out of the park, again!
Vadm:
this is "stuffy"...thought I would start using my real name!
Thanks, again, for the great post!
Vadm. You hit it out of the park again. Great post.
Question for you. I really liked your post yesterday about the Trust
complaint. If you had to make an educated guess how do you think it will be resolved?
Vadm
Thank you so much for your comments.
Excellent!!
Thank you for yet another great post, RAM!:)
If there has anything I've learned the past 11 months, it has been to not trust what you read in the media. Of course, this means that I've had to spend a lot more time doing my own research. But, seeking and knowing the truth is far more gratifying than lazily believinglies.
To be honest, during the campaign I nearly turned away away from supporting Gov. Palin due to the slanders, misrepresentations, and flat out lies in the media, but, in the end, I did support her, and I never looked back.
Following the election, I tried to keep up with the Governor, but I was only getting my news from CNN and the ADN. I'm so thankful that I have found C4P to get the truth on the Governor, soon-to-be Citizen Sarah. Thank you all for all of your hard work!

That was so awesome!! Loved every bit of it.
I for one am with her! We need to battle these people with courage and spirit as our soldiers do over in that God forsaken place. If we have an ounce of the courage our soldiers possess we will be on the right track. Let's make them proud and save our country over here.
