Axelrod: I Don't Think About Palin

David Axelrod on CNN earlier today:

“I can tell you with absolutely honesty,” Axelrod said Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union, “that when I sit around with my political friends . . . there’s very little or no discussion of Sarah Palin.”

Now maybe it's just me, but I've noticed over the years an odd quirk in human nature - when people begin a sentence by proclaiming their honesty, it usually means that they're about to be less than completely truthful. Professional politicians are particularly prone to this - for example, have you noticed that our current President always says "Let me speak clearly" just before he says something confusing?

If Axelrod is telling the truth, then he just proclaimed himself incompetent. He's Obama's political advisor - it's his job to worry about his boss' political rivals, especially the Republican party's most popular politician.

Please, can we make today ALL about Sarah? Seeing "Axelrod" on this site is really unpleasant.

"Let me be clear, as I always said.."

juju July 26, 2009 2:29 PM

Tim: You got that right. Palin is their worse nightmare.

Nande July 26, 2009 2:29 PM

Axelrod's bedtime prayer:

I wish I wish upon a star
That Sarah Palin stays real far;
For if she comes to the Lower 48,
My boss's seat she's sure to take.

...um, yeah...I don't think I believe his 'honesty' either

Chrisin206 July 26, 2009 2:32 PM

If Axlerod isn't thinking about Palin then he's not doing his job. Plain and simple.

Obama's surrogates can't stop talking about her now that she has some free time I'm sure the White House will be having to respond to things that she has done or said since becoming a private citizen and assuming the controls of the GOP like how the base wants her to do.

Scr*w Axelrod. (and all he stands for)

M03 July 26, 2009 2:38 PM

Axelrod is a viper.

section9 July 26, 2009 2:40 PM

Axelrod is lying, of course. That was a good "tell" that Tim picked up. It's his job to figure out what Palin is up to for his Principal.

If he's not doing that, then his boss needs to send him back to Chicago, because Axelrod is being woefully overpaid.

But one thing that history has proven is that David Axelrod does his job rather well for people who pay him.

red fox July 26, 2009 2:42 PM

Tim: absolutely correct, my thoughts exactly. He even flubbed the line at first.

Honesty is anathema to that stooge.
Like sunlight to a vampire.

I really, really, really dislike that man. Ugh.

If I want to know about liars, I would track any number of available Democratic sites.

But I'm not. I am here. Tell me things I can't find anywhere else.

Okay...no one believes (even die hard Dems) that Axelrod and Obama don't think about Sarah constantly because the attacks have never let up!

Does anyone know what time the coverage of Sarah's last day as Gov starts...

Lakerfanalways July 26, 2009 2:49 PM

If David AxelFRAUD went on TV and said that the sun shall rise tomorrow, I would have to go outside and confirm it. The guy is an absolute LIAR!! Yeah he doesn't think about her, sure Dave, then how come he pays off these whack jobs to file ethics complaints against her. Yeah "Too be perfectly honest" when ever someone says that, that means they are lying, they want to be honest so they start a sentence saying they have to be honest, no Dave, we want you to lie LOL. The Chicago machine, what else is knew, they can't even lie right

..."when I sit around with my political friends . . . there’s very little or no discussion of Sarah Palin.”

Hey David not even when polls shows her 6 points behind your boss? Maybe you have already accepted the fact that she’s going to beat you in 3 years so you’ve decided best not to talk about it and live in denial.

@PEC
Don't bother telling liberals FACTS, they can't stand it. Sarah isn't running for President right now. Her poll numbers don't matter to me, now what does matter is Obams's NEGATIVE 11 poll number. That is scaring these libs to death, their time is running out and they know it

Nancy July 26, 2009 3:04 PM

If I was Axelrod's wife, I would be very suspicious of any words coming out his mouth, after "absolutely honesty".

PEC July 26, 2009 3:06 PM

lakersfan - Sorry. I forgot. I did think for a second that facts were important to a liberal. My bad.

Nancy July 26, 2009 3:06 PM

Other things Axelrod might be discussing:
"Why is it such a ghost town around D.C. this weekend? I can't get Anderson, or Norah, or insert other loser's name here. Where is everyone?"

Nancy July 26, 2009 3:09 PM

Axelrod sounds like a McCain campaign staffer.

What is really going to be the straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back is that GITMO decision by Obama. What a self-inflicted wound! If I were his team I would walk back on that decision asap. The sooner you take the hit for it the better for the long-term. IF they wait until next year, the GOP may win in a landslide. And of course if Palin is the biggest name associated with that landslide, ala Newt Gingrich in 1994, she will have strong momentum going into 2011 to start her run for 2012.

Nancy July 26, 2009 3:31 PM

I think Axelrod doesn't talk about her, just like they don't ever talk about her on MSNBC, or CNN, or FoxNews, or ABC, or NBC, or CBS, or THe View, or in countless magazine offices, or on the internets.

Maybe they discuss ways to ditch Joe Biden.
Or how to work out a system where all questions from reporters at press conferences are able to come up on President Obama's teleprompters, and the answers with them.
I know, I know, he's thinking about how he can find more time in his day to go putter around in that White House vegetable garden.

LOL. Thanks Brian. I love McCain, but even HE jokes about his age.

Is the answer to the question Andrew Jackson???

Oh, and it's really easy to break the code for Obama's vipers. Whatever they say, the opposite is true:

"I'll be perfectly honest" Translation: "I'm going to lie through my teeth.

"As I've said before"
Translation: "Now I'm going to recalibrate 'cause they're onto my shit"

"We don't sit around talking about Sarah Palin"
Translation:"That woman is so IN our heads, we're considering a possible nuke strike on Wasilla and plan to blame it on Kim Jong Il"

Oh, and, it's kinda funny to think that they WANT her to run in 2012, but they're not talking about her ... uh huh! ;-)

Steven July 26, 2009 3:40 PM

Andrew Jackson paid off the national debt, which right now no one on either side of the political aisle seems to have a plan to try to do. They like to complain about it and blame each other to score political points, but there's never a plan to pay it off.

Nancy July 26, 2009 3:45 PM

These buffoons can't even keep their own house in order. On Meet the Press, Sec. of State Hillary Clinton answers question re future run for President with:

"Well, you know, I say no, never, you know, not at all. I don't know what, what else to say."

Er, how 'bout saying you definitely won't run against the messiah? That'd be a start. She wouldn't even say that.

Even Hillary can smell blood in the water.

katiejane July 26, 2009 4:15 PM

How funny I posted on the CNN site and when I first checked, my comment was "awaiting moderation." I just went back to check and my comment is no longer there at all. I was not crude or offensive - just not flattering. Apparently only posts agreeing with the the liberal opinion are considered acceptable.

MarkRNY July 26, 2009 4:20 PM

Did they actually ask her that on Meet the Press?! Geez. They know this guy's toast!

I've always thought that Sarah might not run against Obama--because Obama might not be the candidate!

I'll bet Gregory, or whoever asked that question, is getting an earful--maybe a dead fish from Rahm. The jackass blurted out what the MSM must be thinking among themselves!

This clown's going down.

The Monster July 26, 2009 4:36 PM

Apparently only posts agreeing with the the liberal opinion are considered acceptable.

Oh, that's not hard to explain. These people live in their echolocation chambers, hearing only the leftist perspective on things, including the leftist caricatures of the conservative and libertarian positions. By their way of thinking, our opinions are uncacceptable.

Evan Sayet explained in his second Heritage lecture what an eye opener it was to actually hear conservative ideals from a Conservative rather than the leftist caricatures.

(One minor quibble. I don't call them "liberal" because there is nothing liberal about them. They are as illiberal as they can get away with. Besides, as a libertarian, I really resent having the word "liberal" stolen from my ideology.)

red fox July 26, 2009 4:36 PM

Just to clarify my earlier point, he didn't ask her specifically if she would run in 2012, just a general question about running in the future. It was a follow-up to a vague answer she gave this week in Thailand.

Point is, shouldn't she have at least said, "well, I don't know about 2016, but definitely not 2012." These Clintons will never give up, ever - even if it means doing something crazy in 2011. They'd have no problem eating their own.

Mark, you nailed it! :)

Do you think Rahm Emaneul is having nightmares about Sarah Palin right about now?

Is it just me or do you think she chose that dead fish analogy in her resignation speech carefully, knowing it's Rahm's little code for "get it line."

Sarah refuses to get in line. She goes "fishing" ...

I can't wait: The hunted becomes the hunter today :)

M. Minnesota: I talked about this yesterday in a post - yesterday was my first day posting here, or anywhere. So, I won't repeat everything here again.

That said, your question is quite appropriate today. In today's Boston Globe (owned by the NYT) they released the results of their own poll on obama-lite Deval Patrick. You must understand how important these results are, because the Globe couldn't be more in the tank for this Axelrod-propped-up ninny.

Their poll shows Patrick has a favorable/unfavorable rating of 36/52, and a job approval approve/disapprove rating of 35/56. In short, he's an abject failure and toast. You may recall, his platform was hopey-change and "yes we can" (sound familiar?).

I live in Massachusetts, so I'm painfully aware of "Coupe" Deval Patrick's hackdom. It's unprecedented, even for my state.

As for your other question, there is a candidate, Charlie Baker (R) who people seem to think highly of at this point, but I'm still doing my homework. You can see the results of the Globe's poll at Boston.com.

Huskers-For-Palin July 26, 2009 6:33 PM

Meanwhile, at the Obama bunker....

Obama (playing with a familiar looking doll)

"Ohhhhhhhh Sarah, how I lust for you. You slutty little vixen. One flash of those glasses and I'm sweating like a nerd on the Star Trek movie set."

"I want you Sarah (picks up another doll that looks like him and presses it up to the Palin doll). I need you Sarah. If Carville can have Matlin, then I can have you."

(making a mocking, female voice)...."Oh no, no, no Barry, what would Michelle think? What of the press?"

"To hell with the press and to hell with that jackass of a wife. I only want you Sarah."

"NO"

"YES"

"NO"

"YES"

"NO"

"YES, YES, YES AND YES !!!"
(Obama making mock kissing sounds)

"I know your type wench," quipps Obama, "you're like a Jewish American Princess with hip waders. And the one thing I know about Jewish American Princesses is that they lust for power and money, and baby, I GOT BOTH."

(mocking female voice again)

"Ohhhhhh, Barry. How can I resist your animal charms. Take me Barry...TAKE ME NOW. Do me like a piece of white-cracker-trash!!!"

(Axelrod enters the room)

"ehhh, what's going on here?"

(Obama leans over on the desk hiding the dolls).

"David, how many times have I've told you NOT to enter my study without knocking!!!"

"Sorry sir, I didn't see you playing with your dolls. I'll come back later."

(Axelrod leaves)

(Obama, realizing that the charade is over, and that Axelrod will spill the beans to his coffee buddies, gets upset)

"ARRRRRRGHHHHHHHHH !!!!"

Vincent Jappi July 27, 2009 5:03 AM

Who the hell would be dumb enough to consider Sarah Baraquitter as a political rival? She has gone from 86% approval to 60% approval and since she quit her job and abandoned her commitment to her voters and supporters, 40% approval rating. She couldn't beat Obama in a spelling bee contest and her supporters who lack the intelligence to see that are not enough to win any elections.
