Gov. Palin Set to Start Clearing the Decks
There are folks out there (like Examiner.com's George Copeland) suggesting that Sarah Palin may have resigned from office to set up a run for the presidency in 2012, not as a Republican, but as an independent candidate. While I tend to doubt that that will be her approach, the party mandarins have every reason to worry about what she might do to them. After all, the last time Sarah Palin resigned from a position, it was the beginning of an all-out assault on the Alaska GOP, which had betrayed the party's core principles with its corruption and cronyism. Following her resignation, her political career was widely pronounced dead at the scene, but in fact it was only the beginning of the political insurgency that would carry her to the governor's mansion. The past is no guarantee of the future, but there is certainly considerable reason to think that we might see history repeating itself here.
And if so, there's good reason for it. Michelle Malkin took a well-deserved rhetorical machete to the Beltway GOP last week after the news broke of David Keene's utterly disgusting attempt to extort money from FedEx, declaring,
We’ve got major battles on the Hill and fundamental principles to defend.
Show the corrupted, Beltway-infected, power-drunk Republicans the door.
And get back to work.
I heartily agree. To this point, though, not enough Republican voters have; when I tried a while back to argue over on RedState that conservatives should back Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao (R-LA) in a primary challenge to Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), I was shouted down by a bunch of folks saying, in essence, "His voting record's good—never mind the prostitution thing." Here's hoping that sort of attitude is starting to change; it has to. My second-favorite politician, Florida's Marco Rubio, is right to say,
The Republican party should be the party that always understands that what people want more than anything else in life is for the chance to provide security for themselves and their family and to leave their kids better off than themselves.
[. . .]
For many Americans our party has become indistinguishable from the Democrats. We're viewed as the party of hypocrites who say one thing and do another.
The only way we're going to fix that, and the only way we're going to have a political party whose leaders represent and stay true to the beliefs and concerns of those who elect them, is to finish clearing the decks of the low-character power-focused Washington-corrupted lowlifes who currently make up the bulk of the national party establishment. Gov. Palin, throughout her political career, has been about cleaning folks like that out of the Republican Party, first locally and then on the state level. Now she's stepping down from her position in Alaska so she can take them on—and take them out—on the national stage. All I can say is—you go, Gov.; we're behind you every step of the way.

"For many Americans our party has become indistinguishable from the Democrats."
That is my position.
I'm done with having to drive 24 miles to vote for Nota S. Badas (R-wherever).
I really hope she can do something to help clean up the Republican Party. At this point i don't find them to be indistingquishable from the Democrate Party. The double bonus is if we get a cleaner party they will contrast nicely with the Democrates.
Sarah is the modern David.
I can see her stepping forward, challenging the evil Lord Obama.
She reaches down to gently stroke her daughter Piper's head.
"Momma has some work to do. Go back and watch over your brother. I'll be back for dinner."
We ain't perfect. But...WE are the good guys. Don't forget it. We need to lay seige to the rotten core of the GOP, then turn on the statists led by the messiah.
Larry Sheldon:
I said it on another thread: when voters are only given a choice between Democratic and Democratic-Lite they're going to choose the real McCoy every single time than the knockoff.
Sarah would never do that. She knows a third party run just guarantees 4 more years of Obama. Rasmussen even polled that, and had Obama 44 Romney 33 and Sarah 16 as a third party. Even if she would do that, her followers hate Obama, and would never contribute to taking this country further down under Obama.
That same poll said that 32% of all Republicans said if Sarah is not the nominee, she should run as an independent.
Loyalty is a 2-way street and Mitt and the GOP perfumed princes don't seem to have gotten the memo with all the anonymous backstabbing of Gov. Palin.
Great write-up!
As for Adrienne, how do we see her from online? Is there a link to that station?
Conservative Guy,
There are conservatives that distrust Romney and will not vote for him. The same way with McCain. Polls show that Romney has average favorables among conservatives. I myself won't support Romney.
Yes Sarah is on the path to lead us out of this mess but She needs all of us to be out spoken defenders of our freedoms. The msm will slowly turn on obama and Michael Steele is taking the fight to obama as well calling health care bill an "experiment".The opposition is growing.
T.Roosevelt split GOP with his Progressive party , which led to Woodrow Wilsons(D) win in 1912.
Mrs.Palin is much wiser than that.
Third party always loses.
No she wouldn't CG, but some of her more enthusiastic followers just might. I don't think too many on this board would. We see the likes of Race42008 and GOP 12, which I like to call GOP 16, always slamming her repeating every slam from the VF or the Huffington Post
The GOP's problem isn't Sarah Palin. The GOP's problem is with the 20 million Republicans (according to Rasmussen) who don't want any more RINOs and would rather vote for her no matter what.
Sarah is very capable of cleaning up the GOP, that's why the elite are so afraid of her. With so little help from powerful groups, she is going to need support from us "ordinary barbarians" now more than ever.
She needs to storm CPAC and we need to totally overwhelm the place the day she shows up.
She will then crush Romney in the straw poll right in his home ballpark.
There will be no doubts.
…”Sarah Palin may have resigned from office to set up a run for the presidency in 2012, not as a Republican, but as an independent candidate”…
Just a thought: What if when she announces she’s running she doesn’t say whether she’s seeking the republican nomination. Keep everyone on the edge of the seats to speculate she’s running as independent and leave getting the republican nomination to the last minute.
Can it work?
An elder Conservative gentleman who recently passed away wrote this:
The Moral Compass of the Nation.
The whole party, after the last eight years, needs to be reformed.
Does Sarah pack the gear to follow through on cleaning out this rat's nest? It will depend on her ability to convey to a hugh number of people she is the antidote to the disease.
It used to be that, domestically speaking,it took a woman to clean house.
Now, politically speaking, the same appears to be true.

On another note, I was pretty ticked and confused about the ethics complaints ridiculousness. Now that I've read C4P's and Palination's take and read through most of the comments, I feel a little bit better. I trust that everything will work out the way it is supposed to.
Not to be cynical, but I suppose we could be facing 11.5 more years of this crap!
Sarah is the modern David.
Sigh. You place an enormous weight on her shoulders. She cannot fight this fight alone. Any one person can falter, and fail. If we sit back with our popcorn and expect her to fight our battles, they will kill her, and we will run like scared animals.
Sarah can only succeed if we make her fight our fight as well.
We all have a part to play, but most do not know what that part is. An army needs more than a general and privates. It needs leaders at many levels to organize and win the battles.
Let the leaders begin to step forth.
I agree.
The Reform mantle back by a populism approach is smart and marketable to the public.
Reform government by aggressively taking on the 'old boys club.'
In addition, tackle the greed and corruption on Wall Street (she did mention this point during the VP debate.)
The aristocrats running the government and soaking their coffers via Wall Street need to be on alert.
Teddy Roosevelt and Andrew Jackson as models--run with it.

Sarah will pick the path that works.
Taking over the GOP works.
Going independent would be the worst possible mistake anyone could make. Not only would it doom the GOP, but it would doom the person running third party. Who ever did so would eventually be known as this country's Judas - selling us out to Obama's socialism.
I hope and pray Sarah Palin does not do this.

"Going independent would be the worst possible mistake anyone could make. Not only would it doom the GOP, but it would doom the person running third party. Who ever did so would eventually be known as this country's Judas - selling us out to Obama's socialism."
I know that. You know that. Anybody who has any exposure to any history what ever knows that.
Now the interesting question to me is this:
If the RINO elites know they are irretrievably doomed if they don't straighten out and fly right, maybe, just maybe they will straighten out. Or we might, just might succeed in replacing them.
In any case I see "WIN" everywhere.
If we succeed, we can start to salvage our country and our freedoms.
If we fail (and are "allowed" to form a third party, and both get flushed down the drains) it will be the Democrats who take all the blame.
But I am NOT going to vote for any more Nota S. Badas'. I am done with that.
Just moments ago I brought in the mail. Once again, there was a letter (stamped "SECOND NOTICE"!)
This one begged me not to abandon our party and offered me lots of choices for donating money.
I wrote (as I have been doing for some time) "The Republican Party has abandoned ME! No more RINOs."
Senator DeMint thinks that Gov. Palin will help the GOP:

That's okay, John. You voted for "change", and all you ended up with was the Third Bush Term.
Who's the sucker now?
Thanks, but we'd rather try something else.
Sarah might take the Democrat nomination for President in 2012 if she chooses.
That would be fun.
Palin isn't going to help Obama by going independent. She's going to lead the GOP in a new direction.
I've said this before, but a 3rd party moderate running to sabotage Palin is far more likely.
This is so exciting people!
Love all your enthusiasm. Sapwolf, you inspire me!
Yes Sarah is David against the mighty Goliath.
My question is how can I help? I've caught the bug, but I'm also kinda cowardly when it comes to hand-to-hand combat with the enemy. Some Sarah supporters like going over the vipers' dens to engage them in debates. I prefer hanging out HERE. Ha!
But I do think Sarah is going to need a really strong speech writer! Not that I would apply for that. But maybe some of her people are monitoring this site, and they can take cues and messages from us, her devoted followers. I would love to be a low-level, grassroots "advisor" to the Palin for President effort.
Oh, and as for Mitt Romney, it's not that he's not capable and competent. I just think he's got a very establishment mindset, which is exactly the OPPOSITE of what we need right now.
The establishment -- on the right and left -- have screwed us over too long.
This is a populist revolution!!!
Viva Sarah!
The biggest role I see Sarah Palin, Alaskan, performing is educating the general public on the crucial issues essential for America's survival as a Republic. We did not get to where we are overnight, it began decades ago, and Republicans and Democrats have brought it forward. We departed from the Constitution which gave us a Republic under Law, to a growing variety of Socialism, which is a government by the rule of men, the elite both Republican and Democrat. Our Government run educational system, a growning entitlement mentality, and elite generated class warfare, have been instrumental in all this. So there are many issues Sarah Palin can address, and at first it will sound shrill to the modern ear, but over time it can be understood. As Glenn Beck as said, we need to use some Commen Sense and let the Conmstitution and Declaration of Independence guide us.
"Palin isn't going to help Obama by going independent. She's going to
lead the GOP in a new direction."
Or scare them towards the light by threatening to go third party and taking them all down.
"I've said this before, but a 3rd party moderate running to sabotage
Palin is far more likely."
Not sure what I think about that--it had not occurred to me. sounds like Jonestown to me.
I agree that a third-party-from-the-top is likely to guarantee Obama as President-for-life (which I think is very possible if he gets a second term).
I am not so sure that a massive third-party swell from the bottom is doomed.
I don't think that is the best way. But the RNC does not show me any signs of returning to us any time soon.
