Superb interview with Andrea. Palin should have given her a salmon to take home.:)
Andrea Mitchell riding in that boat. Priceless.
It looked like she was not enjoying it one bit.
The best line. Gov Palin saying "you're not listening"
Wow. I think old Andrea got a little Cuda smackdown there.
I am so impressed with this woman. She's my kind of person!! I'm an Independent (politically) and also personally and I can relate to and understand evrything she said and everything she is doing. I am still hoping for a presidential run in 2012; I so want to work on that campaign. Blessings to Sarah and her family: I love you!
Cool, I can't wait to watch when I get home. Thanks for posting, this site is awesome!
I really do love her!!! I knew it was Track that gave the "hell yeah."
This is straight out of a scene in Sweet Home Alabama when Candice Bergen goes to flyover country and swats the mosquitoes.
I imagine we'll soon see Mitt give interviews while he's chopping wood, or hunting small critters.
He's just a regular guy!

Dude...
As she said it herself, she is not a quitter, she is a progressor.
I wish Mitchell had fallen overboard and Gov Palin had rescued her by putting a fishing net around her.
Now that video/picture would have been priceless.
Gosh! How can you not love and admire this woman?
Wisetrog,
Yah, spot on there, haha!
Every one of those reporters asked if she was going to run for President, and I think it would be awesome if she threw it back at them by saying,"That's an interesting question because for the past few days all of you pundits have been saying that I'm politically finished, and yet, you all still ask me if I'm running for president. I'll let you know. Just like I let you know about my stepping down *wink*"
The Guv on the fishing boat...yeah, she's a bona fide bad ass. Love her.
John Galt
That was hilarious.
That image is now stuck in my head.
hahahahaha
John Galt,
Why rescue her? :)
Saw the ABC video whcih shows her working hard. Awesome.
We do think alike. I've been imagining her taking a crew fishing. She knows there might be little chance of people coming to Alsaka again. So takes care of the opportunity and gets a great video. No wonder the beltway hacks don't get it.
I love the way Kate Snow said ," you have fish guts on you," oooooooooooh. She should have said,"You want some and tipped a few fish in her lap."
SA-RAH! RAH! RAH!
You know one of the reasons why these clowns talking points are "You still haven't answered", "Her speech was rambling and disjointed", etc when it and she have been clear as a bell? They're Projecting (like the neurotics they are) Obama's incoherance onto her. If anyone's "unclear", "rambling and disjointed", he's your manikin!
I was hoping they'd stop the boat, say "Hey Andrea, look over the side"--and GUN it!
Can you imagine how Michele would look in those waders??
Divas dont' do mud.
How can anybody hate this woman and her family?
:)
What The guv said:
"I don't know what will happen on the next fishing run, much less what will happen in a few years."
What the guv meant:
"You people are crazy as h***. Of COURSE I am running in 2012, but good grief, FIRST I have to SAVE the nation's butt by getting some Conservative people in congress (mainly the Senate) to block Obama's kid gone crazy in a candy store spending spree and screwing up America tour.
Then I will use the team that I am already in the infant stages of setting up to go for it. I am also reading my butt off so when you ask me who was the leader of the Celtic people in the Battle of Westroile in 1084 I can answer that question for ya.
Good Grief, BUY a clue you dimwits, there is no way in h*** I would tell you people that I had plans to buy toilet paper this month, much less anything about my political plans."

Love the Andrea smackdown....Oh, I'm a diva? Oh, I loved the lights and could not readjust to AK? Yea, how do I look now on TV giving your clueless butt an interview (since you were lured up here thinking I was going to Club Fed soon) with no teleprompter, no makeup on, wearing waders with my hair a mess and snelling like dead fish(which actually smells like money to me and my family)....Yes I am the classic diva can't you tell?" SMACK
Ok, I'm done, thanks for letting me get that all out C4P.
Great interviews!
I just heard a clip on fox saying O'Reilly will be having that woman who does body language readings READING Sarah tonight!
OMG they're just a bunch of ratings whores!
FWIW Rasmussen has a poll out already. More Republicans believe her 2012 chances are hurt than those who believe they are helped:
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/national_news/40_of_gop_voters_say_resignation_hurts_palin_s_chances_in_2012
I hope those 40% are proven wrong. Sarah is the focus of a pivotal crossroads point for America and she just has to prevail however that manifests itself.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of GOP voters finds that (24%) believe Palin’s resignation helps her chances of winning the Republican nomination, while 28% say it will have no impact on the race.
...........................
Do not worry. The same poll shows EVEN MORE GOP voters think it either helped or HAD NO EFFECT. 24+28=52% vs 40%
THIS IS GOOD NOT BAD!
Lipstick--loved the interpretation!!
I've only had the chance to watch the CNN interview since I had to go to work (which I should probably be more focused on). But since hearing the governor say "I'm not a quitter, I'm a fighter" earlier this morning, I've had a song stuck in my head, "Survivor" by Destiny's Child. I'd post the lyrics here, but they are a bit disjointed. Read them though, they are so fitting:
http://www.lyrics007.com/Destiny%27s%20Child%20Lyrics/Survivor.%20Lyrics.html
Also, today rasmussen has Obama at -3 with 36% strongly disapproving, and only 52% overall approval. Things may be looking up for us!
On the Rasumussen polls, I honestly think that it will take a lot of people time to come around to this idea. It's only been a few days since her announcement for goodness' sake! I don't know that I've entirely come around to it yet; I'm probably about 85% there. I think once people see what plans she has in store, their opinion may change. If she does decide to run and people see what the Republican alternatives in the primaries and the negatives of another 4 years of Obama, I think that people will come around!
Where's the damn Fox news footage?
Speaking of Rasmussen, here's how his 2012 poll looks:
Romney 25%
Palin 24%
Huckabee 22%
Gingrich 14%
Barbour 1%
Pawlenty 1%
Some other candidate 6%
Not sure 6%
Favorables/Unfavorables among 750 likely GOP voters in parentheses, very favorable/very unfavorable ratings among 750 likely GOP voters in brackets
Romney 25% (73/19) [39/5]
Palin 24% (76/21) [45/9]
Huckabee 22% (78/17) [41/5]
Gingrich 14% (65/29) [35/11]
Barbour 1% (34/37) [7/13]
Pawlenty 1% (38/33) [8/9]
Some other candidate 6%
Not sure 6%
Once Palin does the Rubber Chicken circuit, you can take Huck-a-Buck's numbers and roll them into Sarah's. It's the same book. That's why Huck is none too kind towards Palin.
But look, let's be real. Sarah will have to earn her stripes for conservatives through the 2010 cycle to bring the naysayers on board.
Thing is, no one has figured out that she does things her way.
Donchaknow, her political career is ooooooooooover. She's just 1 point behind Romney after the MSM fever swamp, after her "quitting". If primaries were held right now, she'd sweep them all. After 3 years of preparation, hell yeah.
BTW, Dear Leader said it took him 4 months of preparation to become a national candidate. Wonder what Sarah will look like after 3/12 years of preparation, after by hearting Obama's record, after developing her policy credentials etc. Obama is in deep deep doo-doo.
Among those 750 likely Republican voters between the ages of 18-29
Palin 34%
Huckabee 31%
Romney 18%
Newt 3%
Pawlenty 3%
Barbour 0%
Among those 750 likely Republican voters 65 and older

I am self employed and have literally been glued to the internet at home and in my home office since Friday. I really believe that SLOWLY this is turning in Palin's favor. I could give tons of reasons, but also consider this. Most people will not even really remember this 3 years from now. They will however know about the trillions of new debt and continued high unemployment, both things that Palin warned about all along:)
Tommy, guess GOP bigwigs don't want the youth vote.
From HA:
A Time reporter (no friend to Palin) in Alaska has reported that Democrats in Alaska were told by Washington DNC ops to block ANYTHING Palin supports thus causing a log jamb of epic proportions. She would have been a lame duck for 1 1/2 years causing huge damage to the state, and taking the shine off of everything she did previously (which is quite a portfolio of accomplishment).

America has such a short attention span. Think that this, in the long run will not hurt her. America will be dispirt in 2012, Obama will do such a bad job.
Once she is debating these guys in the primary, she will impress. No one will care that she stepped down in AK, she did a lot there. Only problem Palin will have in the debates in the primaries will be how to get chunks of those guys rears out of her teeth while still looking lady like.
Add to that her helping to win Congress back, and the pay off of her being able to take time to prepare herself and not be stressed out over money, I think she did the right thing.
"The Palin family -- Todd's sister, mother and father, as well as nieces and at least two children, had picked the journalists up at the airport in Dillingham and shuttled them to Bristol Bay in old pickup trucks and SUVs."
"DIVA"...yea right
HOW IN THE HELL DOES SCHMUCKABEE GET MORE OF THE EVANGELICALS THAN PALIN?!@!?!?!
i don't understand that at all. no one has more clearly demonstrated their faith than sarah palin. not even 'aww, shucks' huck, who i find repugnant and a weiner.
So, Sarah is the frontrunner. Let me be un-PC and say that Mitt will never get the nomination because of the Mormon thing going on and Sarah can kick Huck's ass any day. Three years from now, he'll see the light and bow out after endorsing Sarah Palin.
Lipstick
I am laughing hysterically. As I read your comments I could hear the Guv saying exactly what you wrote.
Thanks for giving me a good laugh to start the day. ;)
I loved the interviews! I so much want to do whatever I can to help the Guv. This is an amazing time.
I think my favorite part of all the interviews is when she was kissing Trig. How can people not like her?
This is a nice article:
http://barrycasselman.com/?p=396#comment-26
When you think about it there are literally millions of young girls who weren't old enough to vote last election but saw the happy, attractive, accomplished, Sarah Palin. It takes money to reach those new potential voters/supporters and attracting those new voters/supporters could end up putting Sarah Palin in the White House one day:) Thats why we gotta work super hard to get the message out about SarahPac etc.
These poll numbers reflect what I have been saying all along. The primaries will be a contest between the Big 3: Romney, Huckabee, and Palin.
One of these folks will get the nomination.
And anybody who denies that Sarah is not a player is a fool or disingenuous.
http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1908983,00.html
Time Magazine article is up!
On the evangelicals, I would guess it's b/c Gov Palin has not "wear religion on her sleeve" as much as Huckster does. Which actually helps her non-evangelicals.
So are all of these polls just GOP voters? Or any among all voters?
What should have the Messiah and his thugs shaking in their boots is Sarah's youth vote (18-29) and that she leads among unmarrieds. This is where Obama had great strength in the last election.
Besides the fact that Governor Palin is brilliant, can make reporters look like the dunderheads they are, confound the political world at every turn, look cute in waders, give Andrea Mitchell a dig,(and it looked to me, make her a little green on that boat too!), keep everybody guessing, and making reporters come to her to talk to her, while sitting in fish guts, besides all that, didn't those interviews feel like those reporters could have been talking to any Alaskan fisherman out with their family getting their job done?
And these elites still cannot figure out why people flock to her! Yeah, her appeal eludes me.
She continues to brighten my day, and put a smile on my face.
Hal, the poll was of likely GOP voters. I don't know how much that would parallel all likely conservative voters, though.
As someone who I guess would fall into the "evangelical Christian" bracket, I'm far more impressed by Sarah with her servant's heart, general attitude, and even hospitality. One example, how many journalists have eaten dinner at her house or gotten a ride from her or her family?
Huckabee may have some of the evangelicals because he used to be a minister and because of his TV show. I used to have a better opinion of him, but after seeing Ann Coulter on his show once, I no longer do. He really went after her because she was critical of him as a candidate. It's one thing to address someone respectfully, but his reaction was unbecoming of one who professes to be a Christian.
Did anyone else want to reach through the t.v. and put your index fingers on each corner of Andrea's mouth, and lift, pinch those cheeks, wiggle em, squeeze the mouth, try to do anything to get that tight lipped mask wiped off her face.
"Come on, Andrea, you can do it! Smile! (While lifting those corners) Come on! (Encouraging her, like you're trying to get a 1 year old to eat that spoonful of disgusting baby food.) You don't have to talk about or to, this lowlife, Governor Palin much longer! You can do it! (Squeezing her mouth) Who is the best reporter at MSNBC, who? Come on, you fount of wisdom, you bright light, and reporter for the ages! (Lifting, lifting.) I think I saw a little twitch, was that a twitch? Everyone cares about what you think, do, and say! MSNBC is nothing without you, heck, NBC News could not get the ratings it does without you! (Jiggling her cheeks) You are a much better reporter than that Katie Couric! (Huge grin ensues) Aaaaahhhhhh, there it is! There is that sunshine! I knew you could do it! Now, was that so hard? Goodness, I thought you were gonna be a sourpuss all day! See, everybody, she does enjoy her job, and can look at life with a smile on her face. (Pinching a cheek) You are a useful idiot, and Governor Palin just played you like a violin, (Patting her cheek) don't feel bad, she does it to the media all the time!"
Cut!
Ram,
Are you going to tell us what you are doing in Alaska :).
Clearly, she killed her future in politics. I mean think about it, who else could get the "big 3" networks and TIME magazine to fly to Alaska and head out to the middle of nowhere on a fishing boat for a 5 minute interview. Obviously she's now a nothing :)
These political pundits are so ridiculous!! Everyone wants to talk to her and they're going to the ends of the earth... literally... for a few minutes with her.... the same people who have continually maintained that she is no one of any importance....
Tommy Report:
What days were the Rasmussen surveys done? What is the margin of error?
I'm really pleased with this. I thought the initial polling results would be much worse given the hostile MSM reaction over such a short period of time. 40% negative reaction isn't bad at all - and this is probably as bad as it will get. If Sarah goes on a full scale media assault - which she appears to be doing - and get her side out, she can easily recover from this.
By the way are there any income breakouts for candidate support?
Looking at the age breakout I'm assuming generally that Sarah continues to do well with low income middle class voters, and non college voters.
This is what makes Sarah so powerful in a general election. These voters are generally independent and Democratic and only she can get them to vote GOP. Romney and Huckabee cannot win them over. This is why the Democrats fear her.
Nancy, I see you are once again in rare form!
You might consider the 'face' is from botox, and it could break!
Come on, guys.
Somebody should get Jimmy Sturr on the line for a C4Polka. Considering how deliciously radical this resignation was, these numbers are grande! Trust me, the GOP establishment was expecting her to take a tumble and, like Joshua Chamberlain on little round top, she has held her ground and will soon be advancing on the enemy. To the chagrin of the GOP, This poll is definitive proof that she is here to stay. The MSM has come to acknowledge this, why haven't they?
I would love to know which of the three people she confided in (Cheney, McCain or the '?' guy) orchestrated the cavalcade of friendly fire from the GOP media in the days preceding her announcement . Coup de grace my a**.
Regardless, her beanstalk to the sky is on a rocket ride, while they're left stomping their feet below.
By August 1st, her resignation will be a net-plus for her, and by this time next here she will be the undisputed front-runner.
Make no mistake, she will run for president, because, as someone mentioned above, she will feel the obligation to heed the people's call.
The short term loser in all of this is ALASKA. You had the greatest advocate, proponent and advertisment for your state in its history and you weren't willing to fight for her. There should have been anarchy over those trumped up charges. Of course she still loves Alaska as much as ever, but she was the Cinderella that brought your state to the national ball and you repayed her by car jacking her coach. At least we'll get the joy of watching your heros, Hollis French & Ramras try to put on her glass slipper. They're the new faces for tourism in your state. To which I say, "Paper or plastc?"
You Betcha!
A Prophet is never accepted in his own country, and apparently, neither is its best governor.
Let's confess that our main interest in Sarah Palin was and is still the big possibility of she running for president and becoming our 45th president.
I don't think no one would join a site like this just to write good stuff about the governor...well...humm...Sarah Palin.
Even when this weird and erratic decision, she is still so loved by Republicans that if she runs she will be the nominee.
Now our words are "if she runs". Just 6 days ago was "She will run".
She was doing so incredible well, her moves were so brilliant that the left did not know what to do than thinking on her inevitable run.
With Obama's approval numbers falling, Sarah was so on her way to beat the crap out of him. Even on her last interview she said she would "beat Obama in a run".
These climax events had an abrupt stop with her decision to leave the office.
Let's wait and see what she comes out with after she leave office.
I still can't understand how a person practically locked for the GOP nomination with her popularity and her big media wins in the past 4 weeks decides to quit her governorship post and let the whole world perceieve just one thing: "quitter"?
I'm still on the theory that this move is part of her Master Plan to attack Obama and run for president.
It is going to be some good painful months before we regain our morale back, when she announces she is actually running in 2012 and all that was just a plan.
In the meanwhile, our morale and hope are on the floor.
TommyReport:
RA Mansour and LaDonna Curzon of Team Sarah Radio did not happen to be up in Alaska at the same time to climb Mt. Mckinley, stalk a moose, rent a fishing charter, or pan for gold.
TommyReport, with this tidbit do you believe that Sarah is going to retire permanently from politics and do needlepoint or hunt moose full-time?
Gallup has a poll coming out today as well:
http://twitter.com/gallupqueue/statuses/2515372473
"Fascinating results just into Gallup on Americans' reaction to Sarah Palin's resignation. Gallup.com story coming at approx"
Regarding that Rasmussen... after all of this "damaged goods" talk, we're right back where we started... with the Big 3 still on top.
Andrea Mitchell behind that unbiased reporter face is the happiness of Obama second term: "We got her. We have destroyed the only threat against our messiah's second term"
Carmelo Junior:
Deep down CJ a lot of people think it but only you and I and a few others are bold enough to make our conclusions public.
Do you remember how I was criticized for my recommendation that Sarah not run for re-election because it would free up her time. I expected the opposition because what I proposed was so unorthodox, that Sarah go into the wilderness like Reagan. Well now some pundits including Larry Kudlow on Saturday made the allusion to Reagan (you should download the full 2 hour program on WABC 77-a great Palin promotion). In addition Bill Kristol has as well.
And one thing that I never can be accused of is taking my eye off the ball, I detest and loathe the Messiah and his radical socialist-Fascist agenda with a passion. In Sarah's words in her Time magazine interview his economic agenda is IMMORAL; he must be taken down first in the 2010 midterms and the 2012 general election. And yes I will not couch my words: the primary reason that I post here daily is that I believe that only Sarah Palin and her superstar talent will be able to take down Obama in 2012. I am 98% convinced that Sarah will run in 2012, but of course Sarah needs to go through a training camp politically speaking, learn her playbook, get her sea legs, develop a rhythm while travelling in the lower 48 while she is raking in more money into her coffers and gaining a groundwell of support. After gaining more credibility from her book tour Sarah will then be able to hit the ground running in the 2010 midterms and perform as a superstar to orchestrate huge gains for the GOP in Congress. I am convinced CJ that the nomination will be hers if this happens.

Baboonking,
If you find yourself on this thread, why do you think from watching these interviews that she's miserable?
I couldn't get a read on her in any of the interviews.
Thanks Sarah for quitting on us after we worked so hard for you and supported you through thick and thin, after we gave money to your campaign and to your legal defense fund after you promised to work for us. Thanks too for telling the whole world (twice now!)that Trig voted yes when you polled your family - I'm frankly offended that you would think I am that stupid as to believe that.
And thanks for letting the anklebiters win, and for showing all Alaska women who looked up to you as our first female governor that a woman can't hack the job.
And thanks for telling us that you accomplished all you set out to do just a bit more than midway in your term when Alaska faces some serious problems that we hired you to fix.
I have never been more let down by someone as I have been by you. I trusted you Sarah, gave my time and hard earned money to you over the past three years, encouraged friends to do the same. Fool me once but not again. Ever.
TommyReport:
Sarah plays well to the secular crowd. Boy is the Obama war room sh**ting its drawers now?
Carmelo Junior,
I'm sorry that you feel that way, but I don't feel like that at all!
My heart went to my throat for about a minute when I heard she was resigning, because I thought maybe she was sick, or something had happened with one of her children. I wasn't able to watch her speech, but I knew everything was okay, when I read comments on this site like: "she is upbeat", "she is smiling", "I understand her reasons".
My morale and hope are nowhere near the floor! This is an adrenaline shot for me! These next 3 years are going to be incredibly exciting for her, her state, her supporters and her country! We are going to be active participants in the making of history, because we believe and trust in a once in a lifetime hero, who happens to be in politics, that is
willing to make a difference, that is willing to politically die to make a difference, that said "trust me", and because she has proven herself time and time again, I do! With a "hell yeah!" I do trust her!
Man, I am so pumped right now! I could shake a reporter silly! Providentially, I do not see any of them in my immediate vicinity! Lucky for them!:)
RealAlaskan - you are full of it. You know it. We now know it.
You haven't had a fully functional government since she returned from the 2008 election. You will now have one.... one that will continue the platform you supported (and over 80% of Alaskans supported before Sep 2008), with the same staff, and without the political circus/expense of frivolous ethics charges every other week.
For crying out loud, this is a win for Alaska, in a certain sense. Then again, you don't care about Alaska... you are a concern troll... so piss of.
And another thing "Real" Alaskan.... how dare you be so upset at SP "quitting" on Alaska when Alaska quit on her? Where was the outrage at having their executive office being hijacked by low-lifes who were hell-bent on personal destruction? I'm not Alaskan, so maybe I have missed it. But I have talked online with plenty of Alaskans who are perplexed at how publicly quiet the citizens of Alaska were over the all-out campaign of destruction leveled at their Governor.
Tommy n techno, looks like she'd do well in NH. That's what I got from this story. NH is okay with her, it's Iowa which is concerned:
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gTd6G4eEJfEMxaAGd-hDXaB8aPKQD999HFLO0
In Iowa, they might go with Huckabee, so I guess Palin supporters are a bit shaky. Its a caucus, so I guess we will go and virtually blockade them until they elect our Sarah.
Nancy:
To be honest a Rasmussen poll today of Republicans said that 40% of them believed that Sarah's resignation would hurt her. That is a significant figure.
CJ is one of those 40%. That is a lot of people so I will not discount his concern for Sarah's potential to be viable national figure.
But you must know by advocating that Sarah not run for re-election that I also held out the possbility that she would also resign early. I knew the unorthodoxy would result in a strong negative feedback and a temporary hit on her credibility. Nobody likes change, especially conservatives politically and personally. I am an oddball conservative; politically conservative but personally off the wall and iconclastic.
But I am confident that Sarah will be able to gradually bring these folks around. Quite simply Nancy, superstars are capable of anything including converting pessimists to optimists.
The truth hurts. I know. Few here if any wants to acknowledge that many Alaskans who supported Sarah are hurt and angry and feel like we were used. They want to play the "your a concern troll" card, tell you to "piss off."
The same way that you are upset, Brian, over my comments - well I'd hope you can at least understand how many of us Alaskans feel about this.
RealAlaskan,
I think she said there were 4 "yeahs" and 1 "hell yeah".
That would be 4 kids out of 5 and Todd. Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper, 4. Then Todd.
Even still, can't you picture the Palin family contemplating this decision, and one of them joking, "what do you think Trig?" and Piper lifting his little arm, waving his little hand for his "yeah" vote?
I think she said exactly what happened.
Andrea Mitchell did not smile even once during the interview despite warm hospitality from Palin and family.
She was determined to find something nasty. But she could not. Andrea looked and sounded depressed reporting back to her station.
wisetrog:
What I am happy about is threefold:
1)Sarah is LEGITIMIZED as a major player despite those idiots in the MSM, biased pundits or GOP12
2)Sarah apparently has not taken a major hit due to the announcement
3)Sarah has tremendous crossover appeal among the youth, unmarrieds, secular types, and regular churchgoers and bests Romney in each category. This has what has got the Obama war room very concerned as well as Romney.
NB: Perhaps we know now why Sarah hired Mr. Warren as her spokesperson who has extensive ties to the evangelical community. She might need a little shoring up there.
@Nancy,
I'd really like to believe that but twice now Sarah has said she polled her kids and gave us that line. She didn't mention polling Todd when she said that.
OK. I am not a poll person...to dumb. But wasn't it 40% that thought it would "hurt" Palin?
That doesn't mean they would not vote for her? Heck, I think it will hurt her short term but if you put a gun to my head, just shoot me, because I WILL vote for Palin.
Am I just not understanding it? They may believe it will hurt her, but still vote for her.
I must say I am astounded that her numbers are so low compared to Huckabee given her favoribility ratings among evangelicals. If Huckabee wins Iowa n Mitt wins NH, where does that leave us?
Lipstick:
You are literally correct, but 40% is a lot of people. And it is more relevant in the GOP primaries than the general election.
That is why only a superstar could rebound from such a initial hit, which I knew she would take by being so unconventional or another poster mentioned counterintutive.
Having said that Lipstick, the move had to be made to free Sarah from being under siege from her nounting debt and free to explore her political opportunities in the lower 48. It is what it is.
Hard to believe that Allan Greenspan was once one of Ayn Rand's inner circle, and now he's married to this hateful little leftist shill Andrea Bitchell.
Wake up, Sarah is finished as far as any presidential run. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't have a clue about politics. You can debate poll numbers all you want but it doesn't change things.
When Sarah quit we lost any hope of seeing her in the oval office.
wisetrog:
Let's get real and not gloss over the facts:
1)Huckabee is a former preacher and speaks the code language of evangelicals, he is on Fox News on a regular basis, and he ran in 2008 and built up quite a following among evangelicals which I assume he continues to tap in to. I am mildly surprised but not overly.
2)What is remarkable is Sarah's crossover appeal especially among secular folks. To me that is huge especially in states that allow crossover voting.
Think of this way-Golf is a niche sport unless Tiger Woods is playing and then the networks get a lot of infrequent golf viewers who are there only to watch Tiger. Sarah has the same appeal. Don't discount that for one minute. Other GOP candidates would eat their hearts out to command that type of crossover appeal.
3)Now do you understand why I promoted that Sarah not run for re-election; because she needs to get her face in front of the voters of Iowa, NH, and SC and you can't do that as Sarah said 'from the Governor's chair in Alaska'.
Real Alaska,
If it will clear this up for you, I will finally break my silence. I was the fifth, having been legally adopted by the Palins on June 23th. Piper found me floating up the Nile and was kind enough to drag me up to the front door, where I was immediately swaddled by my loving new mommy, Mrs. P. She do love me so!
And yes, It was I who gave the fifth big thumbs up to her decision. -And I'm proud of it too!
Rino-hunter:
I have often thought the same thing. It's like Rush Limbaugh being married to Maureen Dowd, which I don't think is ever going to happen.
RealAlaskan just signed up in the last week to bitch and moan about Gov Palin quitting. Funny, that.
Can somebody trace his/her IP? My bottom dollar says RealAlaskan is really a RealChicagoan.
Or if he/she is really Alaskan, shame on him/her for abandoning his/her Governor.
Techno,
Exactly. It does happen though, think Mary Matalin and James "Smeagol" Carville. Never really understood that.
Funny how the Mobys are out masquerading as fake Alaskans pronouncing Palin's political future dead. One would think they wouldn't bother if it were true.
Andrea kept trying to get Sarah or Todd to admit her resignation was PERSONAL, when BOTH Sarah and Todd kept telling the truth: it's mostly because of what's best for ALASKA that she resigned.
I guessed right away it was TRACK who was the "Hell yeah!" vote! It sounds just like a soldier (my bro was a Marine who became a US Marshal).
GO SARAH!
PLUS, right away, after the positive and sweet comments of Sarah and Todd, Andrea's tone became sober and critical, as she mentioned the supposed "supporters" of Sarah who think the resignation was a mistake.
WOW, such objective reporting!----NOT!
I want to clarify my previous comment:
"When Sarah quit we (ALL 100 Alaskans who wrote in Ron Paul's name in November) lost all hope of seeing her in the Oval office."
-Signed, 'RealAlaskan'
(*Got to run....Time for this week's 9/11 conspiracy meeting with my fellow wacky Ron Paul 'cultists')
One of the problems with this site is you all are in your own bubble. A real Alaskan logs on and gives opinion you disagree with and the only substantive response is "trace the IP address" and "concern troll" and now "MOBY" (not sure what that means).
You folks pronounce Sarah's political future alive and well. Fine. I happen to disagree. By tossing out views like mine though you do yourselves a great disservice in understanding politics. You have a champion and it's understandable you support her no matter what. What's not understandable, and what doesn't make any sense at all, is whey you completely lose sight of political reality.
Sarah is done with political office. Toast. She may be able to campaign for others, but even there if I were a candidate I'd have a hard time with the new perception of her as a "quitter." Then again the Republican party is so dang screwed up - we got Rudy and McCain, for example - perhaps anything goes.
The reality is that Sarah just lost some of her supporters, her numbers will go way down. I think everyone is just tired of the drama. It's become a farce for too many. Another thing that's weird is how folks here want to post facebook and twitter numbers. Don't you realize that the massive numbers there have to do a lot with the same thing that happens when folks want to see the results of a traffic accident? Everyone isn't signing up because they support Sarah. A whole lot are signing up because they are just rubbernecking.
Get real people. Have to give you credit for unwavering loyalty to Sarah, but be aware that much of what is here is really just sychophants losing touch with reality.
Wise,
Here are the favorable/unfavorable numbers among evangelicals (keep in mind that this poll was undertaken in the aftermath of her getting some very unfavorable press).
Favorables/Unfavorables Among Evangelical Christians (Very favorable/unfavorable)
Huckabee 89/8 (56/4)
Palin 84/15 (56/4)
Gingrich 74/22 (40/8)
Romney 67/25 (36/5)
Cheney 68/26 (32/9)
Pawlenty 43/32 (11/9)
Barbour 36/37 (8/15)
Favorables/Unfavorables Among Likely Voters who Rarely or Never Attend Church(Very favorable/unfavorable)
Palin 75/24 (41/12)
Romney 71/22 (39/10)
Huckabee 71/24 (30/9)
Newt 62/34 (40/16)
Cheney 59/38 (32/21)
Pawlenty 41/41 (10/16)
Barbour 36/46 (10/22)
@Kenton,
Gee, now us Ron Paul supporters are wacky, huh?
So many here are clueless. Let me give you the truth. During the primaries of 2008 here's how it went.
Lisa Murkowski and Sean Parnell endorsed Romney. Anchorage mayor Dan Sullivan worked for Giuliani. Here's the results of the district conventions:
Total Ballots Counted: 12,204
Mitt Romney has 5,378 Votes and 12 Delegates
Mike Huckabee has 2,672 Votes and 6 Delegates
Ron Paul has 2,050 Votes and 5 Delegates
John McCain has 1,894 and 3 Delegates
One of those Ron Paul votes is mine. Note that McCain came in last. Again, if you aren't Alaskan and conservative you have no clue how much we don't like McCain up here.
Sarah left us and now the guy who supported Romney is in charge. Gee, thanks!
RealAlaskan-
Surely you're aware that by writing Ron Paul's name back in November you helped elect Barauk Obama...
Thanks ALOT,RealAlaskan.
Well, 40% saying it would hurt her is high but I still say that may not equate into them NOT voting for her.
Face it, everyone knows that she was getting shafted. By the time she is debating the boys in the primaries Obama will have a real mess (think J. Carter). No one will really remember or care that she stepped down. They will know why she did. They would have read her book outlining her vision. They would have seen her help get at least one house out of Dem control in 2010. They would have seen her rallies with 1000's of people.
"Stepped down in 2009? You know,I vaguely remember that. Hey buddy, watch it, your blocking my view of Sarah."
Roger Stone article working again:
It was 1962. Richard Nixon had had enough. Enough of being called "Tricky Dick, the man no one would buy a used car from." Enough of the elitist derision that had come his way since the Hiss case. He had had enough of the liberal media who consistently held him to a higher standard than his Democratic opponents and poked fun at his lack of sophistication - he being the son of a grocer. So Nixon blew. He announced the end of his career in seeking elective office; "You won't have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore because, gentlemen, this is my last press conference." Six years later he was inaugurated as President of the United States.
Sarah Palin
This moment came last week for Sarah Palin and her husband Todd. Sick of the derision of the media for her unsophisticated country ways, her plain speaking and consistently being held to a higher standard than her critics, Palin had had enough. Palin resigned as Governor and, like Nixon, did not reveal her future plans. A follow-up FACEBOOK posting for her legions of admirers was clearly written in her own hand as it is plain-spoken and blunt.
Watching the Washington chattering class pan the Palin moves shows the moronic level of political analysis in the media today. Switch-hitter Dave Gergen, Ed Rollins who bolted his Party to go destroy the candidacy of Ross Perot and then trashed Perot, and Upper West Side reform Democrat Dick Morris who toiled for Ohio lefty, Howard Metzenbaum and Clinton but is today a born again Christian and right-winger, all panned the Palin move. Fools.
In fact, resignation as Governor was necessary to preserve any prospect that Palin could be nominated and elected in 2012 or beyond.
Palin could accomplish nothing more as Governor to burnish her "experience" credentials. Nuisance lawsuits and ethics complaints from garden variety left-wing nuts were costing her hundreds of thousands of dollars and paralyzing state government. Palin's accomplishments as Governor in boom times where behind her. The lot of a Governor today is painful cuts and delivering bad news for the next 18 months. Who needs it?
Palin has the most valuable commodity a Presidential candidate can have - a base. Roughly 23% of Americans and 68% of Republicans have a favorable view of Palin. She alone has this kind of intense following. She alone can fill a large hall or small stadium anywhere in Republican Country. This is similar to the following that sustained Nixon through two defeats and his 'self-destruction' in 1962 to win the White House in 1968.
Like Nixon, Palin needs some rehabilitation to her political image caused by the relentless attacks of the elitist media, the knife-work of the relatively talentless Republican Party pros like Steve Schmidt and her own self-inflicted wounds from the post election period that were born out of inexperience at this level of political combat. Like Nixon, Palin can re-make herself in the controlled environment of television. Instead of being tortured by smug media types like Katie Couric, Palin can demonstrate her better understanding of issues and articulate a case against Obama. She can be folksy and plain-spoken and above all, 'smart.' All hail the Conservative Oprah!
The "New Palin" is crucial to the expansion beyond her base of true believers to be a viable presidential candidate. The obvious place for Palin to re-tool her political image is FOX television. FOX's viewers are Palin's potential voters. It is ironic that FOX president Roger Ailes is the genius TV producer who erased candidate Nixon's flaws in a controlled environment and facilitated the greatest political comeback in American history, is at the helm at FOX.
As Bill Kristol, the only DC based analyst who "gets it" said, the move also frees Palin to "write her book, give speeches, travel the country, and educate herself on some issues." It also frees her to build a net work of fundraisers and supporters throughout the country - many of whom will be her TV viewers.
Palin will also be more in demand as a dinner speaker, fundraiser and campaigner than any other Republican in 2011. She can suspend her TV career and will have a chance to collect countless political IOUs along the way, campaigning for candidates and raising them money and hitting the State Republican dinner circuit. Demand for the "New Palin" will only increase.
Palin's "star-power," charisma, presence and genuineness cannot be discounted. No one can discount her moxie, her energy and her inspirational qualities. Her anti-elite middle-class message can have resonance again when the Obama economic policies likely fail. The Ivy leaguers and Hollywood crowd so high on Obama may be riding for a fall. The media has unfairly labeled her as "dumb." All she must do is disprove this...and she can have sixty minutes each week to do it.
Palin's stunning move guarantees an outsider strategy in which Palin is a "movement" but not a "party" candidate. No decision on running should be made until 2011 and focus must be on image repair. This is a woman who held off 36 year Senate vet Joe Biden in a 90 minute debate. She may just be up to the task.
RealAlaskan said:
I "gave Sarah my time and hard-earned money over the past three years."
BUT RealAlaskan:
You wrote in Ron Paul's name in November.
How do you connect those contrary statements?
You're either disingenuous,a hypocrite or lying.
One of those 2 statements CAN'T be true.
Real Alaskan,
Sarah didn't resign because of the ethics complaints. She resigned because of the fact that they were negating her ability to govern the way she wanted. The ethics complaints were costing her and the state both time and money. The DNC had a hand in both the ethics complaints and getting the Democrats in the Legislature to thwart her to make her look bad.
RealAlaskan,
You are correct, it was just her children. Thank you for the correction. But, I still don't understand why this is a sticking point with you. I can absolutely see that scene I wrote playing out. Isn't that a cute story? Isn't it great that Governor Palin includes little Trig, in their family's decision. I think it's cute.
I don't know, I think it's cute, and not a reason to pick at her.
Once Sarah makes her big announcement to run for President, look for her Republican poll numbers to jump. You know all the networks will be rushing to cover it. A lot of people, at the moment, aren't sure she is running and perhaps selecting another candidate. Look for her to make the announcement somewhere in Alaska.
RA; figures don't add up. RA says 2000 voters voted for Ron Paul...in the primary. How many voted for RP in the actual election, as he/she did?
The CNN interview was especially good. She is the best.
Great interviews!
So much has happened since I went out of town Thursday night, and I am trying to catch up!
I have one question, hopefully it hasn't always been discussed.
I fully support Palin's decision, and totally understand her reasoning, but what is to keep people from filing ethics complaints against her replacement?
ellen:
The anklebiters have 18 more days at one last kick at the can. After July 25th Sarah Palin becomes a 'civilian' and after that they can't touch her.
I mean, will they be able to file ethics violations against Parnell?
Have I missed something? Which broadcast network didn't attend or maybe invited? (FNC, CNN, ABC, NBC).
CBS!
ellen, techno,
I suspect the ankle-biters can continue, if they wish. I suspect they can still request FOIA of emails from the Palin admin. Unfortunately.
The legislators can also act up. It'll be up to their voters to keep them in check.
ellen,
CBS!
-----
So, is this for real? or just haven't found the video yet? Since I'm boycotting CBS due to Letterman.
paperson-
I am assuming they did not do any interviews, or else C4P would have posted it.
I cannot be sure though, I am not home during the day to watch TV.
It would be great if Palin never did anything on CBS ever again. The only people who watch Couric are probably Couric's mom and the guys behind the camera, so Palin loses nothing. :)
Governor Palin to Andrea Mitchell:
I put these waders on especially for you, Andrea. I told Todd this morning these waders are going to serve 2 purposes today! Ha!
Andrea Mitchell: No expression, tight lipped mask.
Governor Palin: (thinking in her mind): You're a pleasure, Andrea.
I love the big ole' kiss she planted on Trig!
She looks so happy. I'll betcha inside she's yelling, "Freeeedom!"
Sarah to Celtic Diva: "Nanner, nanner, boo, boo. Try and touch me now. I dare ya."
She awes me.
She AWES me!
And what a beautiful family. They are all truly inspirational.
It's so sad that so many people nowadays are so completely overcome by cynicism that they could never, ever believe that she could actually mean what she says...that her motives are something other than honorable and pure.
(Understandable, perhaps, but still very sad.)
As for me...well, it's not so bad here on the other side of the Rubicon. :^)
On the poll, keep in mind it's just a poll of who thinks this decision hurt her, not who likes her or will vote for her. It's really irrelevant.
"As for me...well, it's not so bad here on the other side of the Rubicon. :^)" - munchnstuf
I'm kinda warming up to it myself.
why didn't any body emphasis on this statement: Andrea of MSNBC says "you can actually see Russia from here".
So who was saying the truth all along. Kate Couric will you also mock Andrea?
