Justice Ginsburg on Roe v. Wade: Population Control of "Undesirables"

(H/T Hotair)

World Net Daily reports:

In an astonishing admission, U.S. Supreme Court
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg says she was under the impression that legalizing abortion with the 1973 Roe. v. Wade case would eliminate undesirable members of the populace, or as she put it "populations that we don't want to have too many of."

[...]

Question: Are you talking about the distances women have to travel because in parts of the country, abortion is essentially unavailable, because there are so few doctors and clinics that do the procedure? And also, the lack of Medicaid for abortions for poor women?

Ginsburg: Yes, the ruling about that surprised me. [Harris v. McRae – in 1980 the court upheld the Hyde Amendment, which forbids the use of Medicaid for abortions.] Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don't want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding for abortion. Which some people felt would risk coercing women into having abortions when they didn't really want them. But when the court decided McRae, the case came out the other way. And then I realized that my perception of it had been altogether wrong. [Emphasis Added]

I read that article this morning. I've never had such extreme feelings of simultaneous sadness, anger, and nausea.

Here's the link to the original interview of Justice Ginsburg:

The Supreme Court has become an impotent joke when it comes to the United States Constitution. It elects to turn a blind eye to Article 2 Section 1 of the Constitution and as a result we are no longer even a Constitutional Republic.

Ted July 9, 2009 10:26 AM

If anything, the Supreme Court has become an aider and abettor of the usurpation of the Constitutional Republic -- now with amazing speed with the current Congress, literally dominated by whackos!

john July 9, 2009 10:31 AM

Over and over again, the champions of abortion have shown their true colors. I pray every day that a leader like Sarah Palin will help end this plague.

Sapwolf July 9, 2009 10:33 AM

I've been telling people for years that the Dems and the leftists on the court believe in eugenics.

That SOB Souter does too.

These people are SICK. They are cold Nazis out to use government to control every second and every molecule of our existance.

Gov. Palin should come out with a column ASAP and the thrust of it should be attacking the eugenics movement of the left and that we need to refocus on Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Ginsburg being a sick evil b***h is nothing new to me.

defendAmerica July 9, 2009 10:34 AM

What was that saying... "All life is created equal"... guess they just decided to skip that part.

You know Nancy Pelosi is shaking her head wondering what was wrong with that statement... population control of "populations we don't want to have too many of"... that's on her radar screen for sure.

It's sad that these statements come out of the mouths of "feminist" women!!!

Yogi41 July 9, 2009 10:36 AM

The progressives feel immune now that they have the power. But fortunately, they are so arrogant that the truth of their intentions come pouring out of their mouths faster than Obama's falling poll numbers.

This is something many conservatives knew about progressives and their real intent about abortion; hopefully, this statement will cause even more eyes to open.

alwaysfiredup July 9, 2009 10:43 AM

I think it's a very ugly expression, more pro-abortion than pro-choice. However, I am happy that this attitude is so much less prevalent in the younger generation. She will not be on the court for much longer and her minority view on this issue is unlikely to significantly affect the direction of the court.

Toki De La Vega July 9, 2009 10:44 AM

Here is the interesting question...

Who does Ginsburg think the "undesirables" are?

Lipstick July 9, 2009 10:47 AM

That interviewer needs to be fired.

What "populations" was she referring to?

I did not read the whole article (I am wimp...OK)

Blacks, Hispanics, Poor people, Down Syndrome, Females? What "population" are you referring to Justice?

techno July 9, 2009 10:48 AM

Ginsburg sounds like the reincarnated version of Thomas Malthus or the eugenicists of the 1920's.

Sapwolf July 9, 2009 10:52 AM

No Lipstick!

Ginsburg needs to be FIRED! She just let slip her true colors.

Sapwolf July 9, 2009 10:54 AM

Expect a statement from her 'clarifying' what she really meant, even though it will be a lie.

Nancy July 9, 2009 10:55 AM

Trig needed to be "controlled".
Ginsburg probably isn't satisfied with 90% of little Trigs being "controlled".

I'm going to be sick.

We live in a sick, sick, sick, sick world.

@Toki De La Vegas

In the statements she said that she was basically surprised when it was decided that Medicaid funds weren't allowed to be used to fund abortions... it seemed she thought legalized abortion and legalized use of Medicaid funds to pay for them went hand in hand.

I took it to mean that those "populations" were those depending on government assistance... the Medicaid populations... I guess you can read into all sorts of implications there, but none that she directly expressed.

MsLiberty July 9, 2009 11:06 AM

It's comments like this that slip out from the pro-abortion crowd from time to time, or things like the Mona Lisa Project, that have prompted me to move away from a solidly pro-choice stance over the years. These extremists need to call themselves what they are: pro-abortion. They are NOT pro-choice because they ridicule a woman's choice if it's not something they happen to agree with. At least people like Margaret Sanger were upfront about their eugenics agenda. This current pack of ghouls just packages it as "women's rights" and so many American women fall for it. It would never occur to them they are just vessels for government-approved selective reasoning.

MsLiberty July 9, 2009 11:10 AM

^^ selective breeding!

Duh!

Ted July 9, 2009 11:15 AM

The bottom line here is that there's absolutely no Constitutional right to abortion; hence the matter should have been left to the States in the first place -- and then it would be irrelevent that Justice Ginsberg believes in eugenics.

In other words, Ginsberg's belief in eugenics -- albeit abhorrent -- is not the problem. The problem is the Supreme Court injecting a fake federal Constitutional 'right' to abortion, pre-empting what is a state matter if anything.

Instead of grabbing fake rights, powers and prememptions which do not exist under the US Constitution, why doesn't the Court focus on the CURRENT USURPATION OF OUR CONSITUTIONAL REPUBLIC -- and enforce Article 2 Section 1.

latinchic July 9, 2009 11:20 AM

This article leaves me speechless.

FredHeadBill July 9, 2009 11:26 AM

Justice Ginsburg is an evil twit, which would have betrayed her heritage and supported Hitler's eugenic cleansing. Where are the citizen-politicians that are not part of the self serving evil elite? The Founding Fathers would of revolted against the current tyranny that has engulfed the nation.
Lord God, forgive us all! Please help the innocent, that you have given us for a blessing.

The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him. Pro 20:7

I feel as though God has provided us with a leader in Sarah Palin. Right now America needs more than a President, but a leader who can reset our government’s parameters back to the Founding Fathers’ default settings. God Bless Sarah in this higher calling!

bitterclinger July 9, 2009 11:28 AM

I can just hear Rush now. How ironic that the very "undesirables" Ginsburg thinks need to be aborted are the voting base for the left.

Abortion is a million-dollar business and the predominance of abortion clinics in inner-city neighborhoods is a testament to who providers and govt. $$ want to target for extermination.

Firelight July 9, 2009 11:29 AM

I am actually at a loss for words.

manajordan July 9, 2009 11:39 AM

I hope this information spreads like wildfire. People need to understand what the pro-abortion crowd is all about, eugenics. One day abortion will be looked upon with the same disgust and shame that slavery is looked upon by the nation now.

Brian Davidson July 9, 2009 11:41 AM

Sarah Palin's greatest gift to us was the poll from several months ago, showing that people considering themselves to be Pro-Life had risen almost 10 points in 1 year and constituted a majority for the first time since polling on the issue began.

Remember that.

MarkRNY July 9, 2009 12:06 PM

This is exactly what their founder and Icon, Margaret Sanger--a hysterical supporter of Eugenics--intended abortion to be used for.

There are writings of hers that clearly state that the primary focus of the abortion movement should be concentrated in Black communities. Her game plan (as stated by her) was to sign on some naive Black clergymen and convince them that it was being done to "relieve poverty" (sound familiar?). She referred to "undesirables" as "Human Weeds". Ginsberg in her dotage just spouted out what's been at the bottom of this movement all along.

Has anyone seen this reported on any of the networks?? Even Fox?

These people are murderers from the beginning. Dead souls-and the deadist of dead souls sits in the White House.

Nancy:

That reminds me of the joke Bob Hope told in a movie comparing zombies to Democrats.

Rusty July 9, 2009 1:32 PM

Wow, this is an absolutely revolting statement. Obviously, this is "Ginsburg's Final Solution". This coming from someone of the Jewish faith is incredible.

This needs to go viral and she needs to be forced to resign from the Supreme Court. The media will try to cover it up. We need to marshall our forces and not let this issue die until Ginsburg is forced to step down. We cannot let her get away with this statement!

Rusty July 9, 2009 1:44 PM

Just to follow up on my previous post - Sarah needs to get a full statement out on SarahPAC about this. This will help Ginsburg's statement to go viral. The press will have to report it and give it visibility.

Who cares if it produces an ethics complaint. We can't wait two weeks to make this an issue. This is too important.
