Obama/Soros Group MoveOn.org Already Targeting Sarah Palin

It appears that Palin's impressive SarahPAC showing and op-ed regarding "cap and tax" have the lefties running scared.

CNN reports:

(CNN) – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's political action committee is confirming a flood of new donations that push her cash haul close to the million-dollar mark, as one of the nation's largest liberal PACs announced an ad targeting the former GOP vice presidential candidate.

Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton confirmed a report in the Anchorage Daily News that more than $200,000 had poured into SarahPAC since Palin's announcement a week and a half ago that she would be leaving office by the end of the month.

Those funds, along with $732,867 received through June 30 according to federal campaign finance filings, leave the governor just shy of a million dollars in donations to date since SarahPAC's January launch.

Stapleton told CNN that the PAC, which supports conservative candidates, had received contributions from more than 11,000 supporters, with the majority of the money coming from outside Alaska.

The news came as MoveOn.org began e-mailing members Tuesday, asking them to fund a rapid response ad blasting Palin's new Washington Post op-ed that criticized President Obama's position on "cap and trade" legislation — a major part of the administration's effort to overhaul the nation's energy policy.

The group said Palin was positioning herself as the face of conservative opposition to Obama's energy policy, telling supporters her op-ed was "a marvel of misinformation and outright lies."

The group has not yet said where the spot would air, or revealed the scope of any potential ad buy.

Fight back against liberal smears by donating to SarahPAC today.

So George Soros is now taking Sarah Palin seriously rather than letting the lower ranks (anklebiters) try to take her out. It's time for the heavy artillery, but the key of being civilian you can't hit what you can't catch or catch up with.

Andrew July 14, 2009 6:11 PM

George Soros can't get MoveOn members to show up at healthcare rallies (there was a big push last week to support healtcare... most rallies had less than 10 people show up for their side).

Why does he expect them to give money?

Greg July 14, 2009 6:13 PM

You know for a fact that Axelrod jumped on the phone last night as soon as the op/ed appeared.

I would think that being attacked by moveon.org would be a badge of honor for most people.

I can't wait to see an op/ed from Gov. Palin on the nationalization of health care.

If the cap and trade op/ed brings out the foaming at the mouth crew, they might very well choke on all that foam if she would come out real soon, like tomorrow, with the health care op/ed.

I enjoy seeing the heads explode.

defendAmerica July 14, 2009 6:17 PM

It's funny that these groups will expend so much time, energy, and money to create a defense against a rambling nobody with no future in politics....

I think they're finally getting a glimpse of her power and they want to shut her down now while she is still limited in her ability to fight back. They'd better hurry. Only 12 days left!

Bring it. Sarah Palin knows full well that this is going to be a fight for America. She can control her own strong conservative message now. She's moving forward and millions have her back.

Nancy July 14, 2009 6:18 PM

Where will Hurricane Sarah show up next? Hhhmmm?
She is already firmly implanted in the left's noggins.

Which Star Trek movie was it? The Wrath of Kahn or something, where they put that bug into that guy's ear, and it wormed its way into the dude's brain. That is exactly what Governor Palin has done. August 29, 2008, what a day that was! History changed on that day, and not in the way I thought it would. Her influence is going to be much bigger than just John McCain's vp pick, or the first female vice president. This is gonna be great!

she didn't even write. That takes great skill to get this kind of response from MoveOn!!!!

wisetrog July 14, 2009 6:19 PM

Oh, dear. just one op-ed which is not even scathing sends them so off-kilter; they do show their that Gov.Palin is their biggest fear right now.

Lakerfanalways July 14, 2009 6:22 PM

I thought Sarah had no political future, that she was "stupid" "irrelevant" for someone who has no political future they sure spend a lot of time targeting a Governor of a state don't they. And considering that these are liberals, don't expect them to make too much money, you know how it works, liberals only spend OTHER people's money, and considering that Obama's stimulus checks have not arrived, don't expect any money to be given. Sarah is a GENIUS, if Cap and Crap fails, Sarah will be blamed for it, but most Americans are against it, so she will be applauded for standing up against it. Sarah WINS, Left loses and craps their pants again.
Sarah Palin, making liberals poo their pants since August 28th 2008

Hmmm, KTUU says:

Another ethics complaint has been filed against Gov. Sarah Palin, alleging she abused her office by accepting a salary and used state staff while campaigning as the Republican vice presidential candidate last year.

Abused her office by accepting a salary!? Surely that's a typo. I wasn't aware the governorship in Alaska is a volunteer job. Did Palin get the job by being the fifth caller into Eddie Burke's radio show?

She's entitled to her Gov salary for the duration of her term, regardless of where she is or what she happens to be doing.

M. Minnesota July 14, 2009 6:30 PM

If Gov. Sarah Palin writes an op-ed on Nationalized Health Care, it would be great if she suggested that EVERYONE MUST take a look at Steve Crowder's (He ususally posts on Big Hollywood) his UNDERCOVER 20 minute film on nationalized health care in Canada. Steve Crowder has dual citizenship and it is scathing what he and his friends go through!!

juju July 14, 2009 6:34 PM

Come on gang. You can't be too hard of C. Diva, she got her orders that Sarah has raised too much money and her op-ed was too good. So, Diva had to go back and check the ethics complaints and find one that she could alter just a little bit and recycle it.

This will probably help Sarah to raise more money. I hope they send out an e-mail to contribute to the TRUST FUND.

Wouldn't you just love to be fly on the wall @ moveon?

Doug B. July 14, 2009 6:36 PM

This ad will benefit Governor Palin in three ways. First, Republicans and the vast majority of Independents see MoveOn.org for what they are, a lunatic fringe leftist group. This will cause all voters but the far left fringe to rally behind her. Second, most Americans actually agree with her that cap and trade is an economy killing power grab by Obama and they will see that Governor Palin is on their side, not the side of dramatically higher energy prices. Third, the very fact that Obama's surrogates are attacking her will cement in many Republican's minds that she is the leader of the party. It's not like MoveOn.org or their ilk care what Romney does.

Nancy July 14, 2009 6:37 PM

M. Minnesota,

I don't think the complaint is so much about the Gov.'s salary as it is about the state staff she had with her and their paid salaries.

It is just another way for Sarah to prove her reason for resigning. This helps her...doesn't hurt her at all. She will be long gone before this even gets to the committee. And, it is just like the other complaint that she won regarding taking staff to Indiana.

TommyReport July 14, 2009 6:48 PM

Here's an article from New Hampshire (I'll post the whole thing because you need to log-in):

http://www.nhpoliticalreport.com/home/16-2012-presidential-elections/323-palin-would-find-skeptical-nh-audience-

MANCHESTER -- Sarah Palin's surprise decision to resign as Alaska governor found New Hampshire Republicans bristling against the suggestion she is done in national politics, but privately many are losing confidence in her according to random survey of New Hampshire Republicans who will shape the presidential race early-on.

Republican National Committeewoman Phyllis Woods is "perplexed" about Palin's decision. Republican operative Greg Moore said the move left activists he talks with "confused". Former Republican Congressional nominee Jennifer Horn said Palin quit before the job was done. Former state Republican Chair Fergus Cullen was her fan until this latest episode and he no longer gives her the benefit of the doubt.

"How can she possibly make the case that can be entrusted with the presidency when she quits in the middle of her first term as governor without giving any compelling reason explaining the decision?" Cullen asked.

Only a few, like former State Senator Bob Clegg, still talk her up even though he is backing a different candidate.

"I think she will do well as a true candidate of change. I will, however, look for her to team with Mike Huckabee," he said.

It has now been 11 days since Palin announced she will step down as Alaska Governor at the end of the month. Since then prominent conservatives are scratching their heads. Even Rush Limbaugh is publicly wondering if she will leave the Republican Party altogether.

If she does visit the early primary state Cullen expects that she would still draw a big crowd out of the "curiosity factor", but mean they are all supporters.

"I think many Republicans fundamentally root for her - we want to see her do well politically. But it's what happens next that gives me doubts," he said. "Instead of looking for reasons to like her and remain interested, voters sizing her up will instead be looking for an explanation for why she quit that doesn't disqualify her from serving as president. And if she's not able to give voters that good explanation quick, I think she'll have a hard time converting fans who root for her into sustained support.

"Red Sox fans would give up on a rookie who tore up the league at Pawtucket but who was only batting .210 at the All Star break."

There are advantages and challenges to the position Palin finds herself in the Granite State. She has tremendous celebrity. Her first trip to the state will look less like the initial gathering of 20 or so activists at a house party like most candidates than it would the 1,500 person rally Barack Obama saw in his first trip back in December 2006. Yet, Palin is a rookie. She has only visited the state once in a whirlwind general election trip. Team Palin hasn't cultivated any relationships in the state to help her pull off such an event like Obama. Even if she got the state party to put on an event it is unclear whether she would spend her time here flawlessly.

If she decides to start calling activists or visit Horn believes she will have to explain her decision to resign before saying anything else.

"New Hampshire voters are very discerning and difficult to win over," Horn said. "Like any other presidential candidate, if Palin decides to run for President she will need to make a personal connection with the people of New Hampshire, but will have the added challenge of explaining away why she quit in Alaska before the job was done."

To be sure, Palin for President wouldn't be a non-starter.

"I'm concerned and as far as I'm hearing, this move does not disqualify her from running," Woods said. "We're used to, in New Hampshire, giving everyone a fair shot and a fair hearing."

Ask yourselves why the White House is doing this. Remember, MoveOn doesn't move on unless the White House wants it to move on.

Right now, they probably have polling that tells them that if they raise Palin's profile, it is bad for Republicans. However, that is steady state polling based on the artificial construct Palin that they created.

This article was a substantive critique of the Obama Administration's plan to increase taxes on America's energy producers. Now, the Democrats want to attack Palin, raise her profile, and make her the "face" of the Republican Party, just as they did with Limbaugh!

Remember?

Palin wants this. This allows her to use the Democrats overreaction to make sober, content-filled speeches and articles while Democrats are focusing the attention of the media and the public on Palin.

Democrats are presenting Palin with a golden opportunity to enhance her "second rollout" on her terms. They will try to "redefine" her. I suspect that she will define herself by defining Obama.

The best defense is, after all, a good offense.

why is Gov Palin against the energy policy she was for during last year's campaign? I watched the debate with Say It Ain't So Joe again:

GWEN IFILL: But I just wanted to ask you, do you support capping carbon emissions?

PALIN: I do. I do.

Sen McCain also supported climate change legislation during the campaign.

"why is Gov Palin against the energy policy she was for during last year's campaign?"

Because the campaign is over and she no longer has to advocate John Mccain's positions?

Re: MoveOn tactics

I'm seeing a concerted effort to go after her in my comments section and wouldn't be surpised if they were MoveOn people or some other liberal activist group. C4P does a great job moderating comments and I'm not going to be critical of those who have different policies than I do. You do what you want. It makes me no never mind, but all bloggers for Palin out there, watch out and be prepared for trolls. A few days ago I adopted a zero tolerance policy on ALL negativity. It's my blog and I'll delete if I want to!
