That hunting quote from Sarah is fantastic. I was going to start a blog called "The Republican Proctologist" and go after GOP Sarah bashers, but I decided another another name instead. And I decided the blog would be more reaching:

http://weeatthereforewehunt.blogspot.com/

"We eat, therefore we hunt." Classic. Biblical. An eternal universal truth. It was the best line of the speech, imo, with the next one being "will you quit making stuff up."

“She needs to brush up on the issues.” Translation: Come down from the high ground and wade into the policy fever swamps with the rest of us wonks. The policy swamps are full of ivy-league legacy admissions exchanging split infinitives and double negatives about uninsured deficits dancing on the head of cap and trade pins. And like all swamps, there is little light, a lot of fog, disgusting little parasites, and an awful stench.

Great leaders never leave the high ground for the swamp. Great leaders don’t really care about this policy or that issue. Great leaders care about the country and its people. Great leaders have great visions of new and better places and they mark the pathway to those new places with unchanging fundamental values. Then, by the sheer force of their character, they take the country down the path with them.

Listen carefully to Gov. Palin. She almost never talks about this policy or that issue. Instead, she tells us about new and better places and the guideposts that should mark the way. She tells us where she’s going and challenges us to go with her. But, make no mistake, she’s going - with you or without you. So, you can either pick up an oar and row or get out of the boat.

You can’t lead from the rear or from the swamp.

Here’s to the high ground. Long may it be hers.

Never entrust power to anyone who is not willing to surrender it.

Really Hardy, I cannot see the signal!

EdFab July 28, 2009 9:43 PM

Ted Nugent probably dropped down on his knees and thanked the Lord for creating Sarah, LOL.

TexMex July 28, 2009 9:49 PM

Pam G! Alright, I much prefer the people in Sarah's corner over those twats in Romney's.

Consider this:

Obama-if unemployment continues to be in the double digits and his signature bills get stalled in Congress he's looking either at a very tough re-election or a failed presidency. He HAS to get jobs up.

GOP-no matter how weak Obama et al seem now the GOP is even weaker. They're a bad brand to indies and have irritated the base. Outlook not so good. They HAVE to figure out what they stand for.

Palin- can go on speaking tours, has a book to promote, can either run for Pres or never campaign again for it. Sky's the limit. She doesn't HAVE to do anything.

Who would you rather be?

Wow, VADM! GREAT post!

Right on!

KentonAK July 28, 2009 9:55 PM

I'm watching the video I filmed of Gov. Palin's Mat-Su Governor's Picnic speech from this July 24th.
(Sarah's last speech as governor in her home-town.)

This was the introduction:

"I'm proud to introduce Governor Sarah Palin...A friend of the military...and who REALLY cares about veterans."

These same words will NEVER be used to introduce Barauk Obama.

tim c July 28, 2009 10:00 PM

Vadm I second Al great post!

Greg July 28, 2009 10:02 PM

Little by little, more and more people are figuring out what we have already figured out, Sarah Palin is real, Sarah Palin is here to stay, and she's on the march. All those who get in her way, including 0bama, won't even amount to speedbumps, they'll be roadkill.

Gelston July 28, 2009 10:08 PM

vadim
I also second that.
great job

juju July 28, 2009 10:09 PM

Sorry OT...Over at Celtic Diva they are having a tizzy fit. I guess Palin's press releases have been scrubbed from her Official page. They are assuming there is a big cover up and will be contacting the Admin. tomorrow demanding answers.

They claim there were "things" in her press releases that could be the basis for more complaints.

I mean they are about to have a stroke.

They are also going crazy because Palin hasn't complied with Daniel's
decision that her Trust Fund is a violation of the ethic laws and she should have taken it down by now.

Looks like a storm is coming.

lmg July 28, 2009 10:11 PM

It would be good to brush up on the issues if Sarah wants to know how the Federal government works. Unfortunately, the Federal government doesn't work. That's the problem. It needs total reform. I'm beginning to think that the best tool for that reform is a neutron bomb.

red fox July 28, 2009 10:13 PM

Geller's the bee's knees.

Yogi41 July 28, 2009 10:13 PM

juju,

Ironic. They're complaining that she "wiped the slate clean" and yet, that's exactly what they did by having that Obama and ethics video removed from every site on the Internet.

juju July 28, 2009 10:17 PM

Let's face it, their actions were never based on logic so why should they begin now. They are hyper-ventilating over there.

Jenny July 28, 2009 10:23 PM

Pam on Eddie's show was awesome. She brought great commentary to the show.

taxman July 28, 2009 10:23 PM

Someone has been relentlessly calling my cell phone number for weeks. Display was from 'Restricted' so I did not answer and they never left a message.

Last night, they called again and I decided to see who it was. So I answered and Lo and Behold - it was the RNC asking for money!

I was kind of naughty. I said I would send them $100.00 but they had to mail the pledge form to me. It will be great fun sending it back with a nice note stating that I decided to send the $100.00 to SarahPac instead of the RINO's at the RNC!!

johnmd I hope you're right and it would be nice.

LT July 28, 2009 10:34 PM

Yes the great leaders stay out of the swamp and forge their own trail. Take Reagan. He tacked the prime issues by abandoning conventional thinking and working from the other side of the equation. On the economy he approached the supply side of the equation when everyone else was looking at demand. Unheard of at that time. On defense, the modus operandi was to have more missles and bombs. Reagan went to the other side of the equation and built up missle defense: Star Wars. Again, unheard of - and thought to be crazy. We know where his vision led, though. Reagan had revolutionary ideas that simply couldn't be found in the "swamp" and they changed history. Sarah too, thinks outside and from above the swamp.

red fox July 28, 2009 10:39 PM

This nonsense about "brushing up on the issues" is beyond annoying (as many people before me here have explained).

It is axiomatic that if you are going to accuse someone of being unfamiliar on certain issues, the accuser should actually have a basis upon which to levy such an accusation - i.e., the accuser should have at least a modicum of an understanding as to the individual you are levying this accusation against. The "brilliant", "established", "educated" talking (bobble) heads either don't know - or consciously choose to ignore (obviously)- the Gov's history and accomplishments, choosing instead to wallow in slander, libel and gossip (none of these great quality's of the self-styled elites being mutually exclusive).

Their opinion is less than useless. It is intellectually and morally corrupt.

Put simply, you can't accuse someone of an offense if you know nothing about them.

But, what do I know? I dig Sarah.

tim c July 28, 2009 10:44 PM

tencole good call on levin, but I'd like to hear what he says uncensored (not on the radio).Frum is irrelevant except in his own mind. What is bad is wacky moderates can claim that their conservatives and get on the tube so the msm has fakes to present to the public.

JoAnne July 28, 2009 10:49 PM

juju,

She is having a Rachel Maddow moment. That is pretty funny. Just another rabid lib that has gone berserk.

Her website design is distracting and unpleasant to view. I guess since her relevance is diminishing everday day it probably isn't worth the money to hire a professional:)

Stephanie July 28, 2009 10:51 PM

@vadm

And, again! Bravo!

juju July 28, 2009 10:52 PM

Johnmd...No I don't think it is over because it was an action while she was Gov. There will still have to be some resolution to it. And C.Diva
posted the rule section that says she has to comply with the decision of the Attorney General which in this case of the Inspector Daniel.

tencole July 28, 2009 10:53 PM

Levin on Frum....

"he sits in his basement, with his door locked, in his boxer shorts, like a good little goofball"...

hahahaahah...:)

Toki De La Vega July 28, 2009 10:56 PM

The Celtic Hutt is finished. That massive heart attack is only two twinkies away.

Yogi41 July 28, 2009 11:00 PM

Okay, I just watched that video of Ann Coulter, and she does tell Harry Smith that Margaret Thatcher is "dying to talk to Sarah Palin". Hmmmm....

Surprisingly, in that interview, Harry Smith was very fair and complimentary towards Sarah. He called her a rock star and said it doesn't matter if she resigned as Governor; it won't harm her because she is that much of a star.

Lakerfanalways July 28, 2009 11:10 PM

@Toki De La Vega
And under Obama's health care plan if Celtic Diva has a heart attack, she will have to wait 6 months to see a doctor. Good luck with that LOL

@Yogi41
Are you saying that Harry Smith, that liberal jackass, was actually fair and complimentary towards Sarah Palin..must have been a full moon or something that day because Harry Smith has never said one good thing about Sarah Palin, well, ever.

1. The AG didn't say anything. The asshat lawyer did.

2. The asshat lawyer never made a final decision. He made a BS recommendation that spits in the face of facts/logic. Plus it's a recommendation that she can tell him to go shove up his DNC owned ass. Take it to the personnel board and she'll win.

3. Why are you still giving that pig web hits? We've moved on to bigger and better things.

Yogi41 July 28, 2009 11:12 PM

Lakerfanalways,

Yes, that Harry Smith. I was stunned.

Vadm:

That was one of the best (if not the best)comments I've ever seen on this blog. It should be put at the top of the page and left there. I am beyond tired of the round table discussions over Sarah Palin's perceived lack of knowledge on policy. Please. What knowledge did Mr. Manboobs have before he suckered 52% of the country into voting for him? None. I'm tired of the Ivy League elites telling the rest of us who is qualified and who isn't to be President. Last time I checked it wasn't the Sarah Palins of the world who got us into this mess--it was the Harvard and Yale grads who think they know better than us state school schmucks. I want a leader who loves this country, believes in it's people and governs by the Constitution. I don't want my government to live my life for me--I want it to get out of my way so I can live my own life.

juju July 28, 2009 11:25 PM

The Independent Investigator Daniel was in the acting position of the attorney general. They change titles for various complaints. The Attorney General cannot act on the Gov. so they hire an independent investigator and he is like the "acting attorney general" for this complaint.

KentonAK July 28, 2009 11:29 PM

Vadm-

Awesome comment! I've saved it in my "Sarah Palin" file for posterity.

I love it!

Pam Geller is fantastic. I'm glad Eddie had her on. Eddie is certainly becoming more well known these days, and rightfully so.

M03 July 28, 2009 11:56 PM

Vadm - Bravo!

Sarah Palin is the pure embodiment of the conservative ideals. She doesn't need to "study up" on the issues to be the smartest person in the room.

She doesn't honor our military as many politicians do, as a matter of gratitude and empathy for THEIR sacrifice. She honors them in a deeper way, by enlightening the rest of us that we would would not be free without the solider.

Her clarity is simply unmatched in the political arena.

MarkRNY July 29, 2009 12:02 AM

See, there are some decent NYers--and instead of being furtive and polite about supporting Sarah, they're getting pissed! (I've been pissed for coming up on a year now).

Yogi41--What video of Ann Coulter/Harry Smith? What's this about Margaret Thatcher??

MarkRNY July 29, 2009 12:07 AM

MO3--"Sarah Palin is the pure embodiment of the conservative ideals. She doesn't need to "study up" on the issues to be the smartest person in the room."

Yeah--and why does she have to "study up on foreign affairs"? Why doesn't Romney? Sarah's gut instincts and common sense are worth 10 Harvard degrees.

Btw, Greta took Mitten's healthcare plan apart tonight and forced Pawlenty to trash it too. Intentional or unintentional, it helped Sarah and showed a BIG problem he has.

M. Minnesota July 29, 2009 12:10 AM

Yes, Pamela Gellar is Fantastic!!

If Sarah Palin decides to run for President maybe Pamela and Adrienne from Motivationtruth.com could team up together and campain for her in the State of New York, if not the Nation!!!

ND July 29, 2009 12:25 AM

In Anchorage tonight. Went downtown to Humpy's for supper. Ducked into a gift shop to get out of the rain and overheard the proprietor lecturing some older folks on the evils of Sarah Palin. It involved every old lie topped with what a TERRIBLE mother she is.

Any rate, I dropped by the counter and advised the proprietor that I'd take my business elsewhere because she's a damn liar after asking her to pull out a big ol' jade bear (not that I had any intention of buying anything) and politely (for me) explained to the proprietor that I was offended by the outright lies. Then I told the older folks to come to C4P for real information. Blah. Maybe she'll think twice before spewing bullshit - hurt their bottom line and then kick them again.

juju:

Toki is right, the investigator's report is just that - a report. If Sarah accepts it, it becomes binding, if not, then it goes to the Personnel Board for a decision. Daniel will make his argument before the Board and Sarah's lawyer will make his argument and the Board will decide.

I still believe that Sarah's lawyer will petition the Board to throw out the report and appoint a new investigator because the leak prejudiced Sarah's legal right of being presumed innocent until judged.

Furthermore, while the Board's decisions cannot be appealed to a court of law based on the facts of the case, they can be appealed if the Board denies Sarah "natural justice". Therefore, they will either hear the case and decide in Sarah's favor or appoint a new investigator. They know they made a mistake in appointing Daniel and they don't want any more mud on their faces.

Toki is also right, lets stop talking and paying any more attention to these despicable people.

Alexonian July 29, 2009 2:47 AM

Great leaders never leave the high ground for the swamp.

I disagree with this point of view. You're describing a life coach and motivational speaker, guys like Tony Robbins.

If Sarah takes this advice she'll end up looking like Obama at his health care conference, totally confused when having to explain the nuts and bolts of what he wants to accomplish.

Sarah has the right instincts on many issues and she knows her stuff on Alaska-centric issues. She needs to be prepared to tell us what she thinks should be done on a host of national and international issues. She has to make a more compelling case than her Republican primary competitors.

Further, just like talented caricature artists exaggerate certain features of a person's face when they paint a portray, today's leftist media is crafting a caricature of Sarah by exaggerating her moments of inarticulateness, which are often caused by her having to improvise by relying on cliches instead of substance. Viewers will accept the exaggerations so long as they are based on reality. Pushing unrealistic portraits doesn't really work, for example, the media crafted position that Michelle Obama is a stunning beauty. No matter how often this is repeated, most people see through the exaggeration and don't buy into it. So, Sarah is giving these media clowns a handhold on her that enables them to judo flip her with their exaggerations.

I compare her speeches to Obama's and find that hers are full of meaning but are clumsy, while Obama's speeches are elegant and have nice cadences and alliterations, but when they are mapped out they don't really say anything of substance. Sarah is conveying a message to an audience that wants to listen and Obama is blowing sunshine up our skirts. It's unfair that the media isn't calling Obama on his empty rhetoric, but that's life. What Sarah needs to do is start working with professional wordsmiths and policy advisors - she sets out the ideas after much discussion with the advisors, maybe provides a rough draft, and then lets a professional punch it up. There is no shame in finding talent and using talent towards one's own ends. She needs to deny leftist media the handhold they currently grasp in order to ridicule her. She gave a tremendous speech over the weekend and Conan and Shatner found a handhold with which they could minimize her. That was a voluntary error on her part. Her media image is very valuable, in other words, it's her brand. She needs to project an image of competence, not incompetence. Notice that no one is challenging Sarah's convictions or backbone, for any challenges or exaggerations wouldn't be at all credible. For instance, they don't make fun of her pro-life positions the way they do her speeches or interviews. They don't make fun of her attacks on Obama where she characterized him spot-on in her convention speech. She provides them no handhold with which they can make fun of her. All they have left is to disagree with her and to do this they have to acknowledge and treat her positions seriously.

Face it, too many people think of her as a joke. That's got to change. She's the only one who can change this viewpoint. No one gets elected Governor if they're an idiot. The real Sarah is not an idiot. The media created caricature of Sarah is that she is an idiot.

Inspiration doesn't bring about change, it just makes one feel good about something. I want Sarah's conservative vision to positively impact this nation. If all I want is to be inspired about the greatness of our beloved country I can go watch Boy Scouts do good deeds. There, I've just gotten a good dose of inspiration and you know what, there's still a Marxist in the White House using his gift of gab to charm people into bondage.

Sarah needs to project competence and the best way to do that is to beat the critics with details and good delivery, thus removing from them the handholds that they use to judo flip her with their ridicule.

Alexonian July 29, 2009 3:30 AM

The shorter version of the above:

Sarah is a diamond in the rough while Obama is a cut and polished cubic zirconia. To the untrained eye, the cubic zirconia is a finer specimen.

Sarah needs to use the hammer of policy and strike against the diamond cleaver of polished speeches in order to shine the way she is meant to shine.

Diamonds demand that they be shown to full effect so that the cubic zirconia can be dumped and forgotten in the jewelry box. A rough diamond left in that state is a diamond that is being misused while the cubic zirconia is paraded around as a real, beautiful and sparkling diamond. With no real diamonds to compare against, the cubic zirconia, to the untrained eye, looks pretty good.

M03 July 29, 2009 4:20 AM

Excellent analysis, Alex. Perfect! (Maybe you could be Sarah's speechwriter!)

I feel the same way. I just hate to see people condescend to her to "study up" when the fact is she is quite likely already doing that.

Diamond in the rough is a great analogy. She has some rough edges. She gives her critics' fodder by being a little bit stubborn. She's the anti-Obama because he presents a calm cool exterior (aided by teleprompter) that belies a inner anger.

Sarah has an outer fiestiness and determination that comes of a peaceful mind.

I can only imagine that she thinks she doesn't NEED a speechwriter. She's being herself. But she really needs to find someone who can capture her ideas, and reflect them more eloquently.

Sarah's stream of consciousness style works for Alaska. But on a bigger stage, it's a drawback.

Probably she'll always be a little rough on the edges, but we'll see what the future brings.

Über July 29, 2009 5:13 AM

I would love to have heard what Pam's advice would have been for Sarah. :)

juju July 29, 2009 10:13 AM

hrh July 29, 2009 11:55 AM

Nice try, juju. According to her own twitter, the governor wrote her own speech. Thanks for playing.

JuJitsu To Frame The Conversation Sarah's Way...

Pamela made a brief comment about "frame the conversation" in response to WHATEVER is said about Sarah by the Sarah fearers.

As she said, it is time to get [linguistically] aggressive in "framing the conversation" in self-defense and presenting the interests of Sarah with honor since she is such an honorable LADY.

Definition... from my handy dandy American Heritage dictionary.

Jujitsu - n.

An art of weaponless self-defense developed in Japan that uses throws, holds, and blows and derives added power from the attacker's own weight and strength.

[J. jujitsu : ju. soft, see JUDO + jitsu, arts.]
