Baseless Rumors
Most of the following posts/stories seem to come back to quotes from the same few people, i.e. "from a source connected sometimes to CNN" (which seems to be Dennis Zaki) and to quotes given to Brad Friedman by Shannyn Moore. The governor's legal counsel has pointed out that they are false.
But let's look at how a false rumor spreads like a wild fire with nothing to back it up but baseless speculation...
From Brad Friedman of the BRAD BLOG:
UPDATED: Alaskan reporter Shannyn Moore offers The BRAD BLOG hints about reasons for Alaska Gov's resignation
FURTHER UPDATE: Sources say embezzlement scandal, federal indictments may soon break concerning use of Wasilla Sport Complex building materials for Palin's home...
[...]
UPDATE: Alaskan Sarah Palin authority (and occasional BRAD BLOG guest blogger) Shannyn Moore, who broke the news at HuffPo today, tells me she believes, with good reason, that there is an "iceberg scandal that's about to break. She's doing damage control."
She says Palin is "resigning as part of damage control" due to a scandal that is "not of a family nature." ...
"The governor would not be able to continue her job when it comes out," she told me on the phone just now, before adding: "Why would Mark Sanford not resign, but Sarah Palin did? Her family didn't even know about the resignation until they were standing with her by the lake" when she made her announcement.
Yes. It seems another shoe, apparently a big one, may indeed be ready to drop, perhaps within the next week or so. Perhaps earlier now that everyone will be poking around up there, according to the folks I'm hearing from in AK.
FURTHER UPDATE: Okay, I've now been able to get independent information from multiple sources that all of this precedes what are said to be possible federal indictments against Palin, concerning an embezzlement scandal related to the building of Palin's house and the Wasilla Sports Complex, built during her tenure as Mayor. Both structures, it is said, feature the "same windows, same wood, same products." Federal investigators have been looking into this for some time, and indictments could be imminent, according to the Alaska sources.
The BRAD BLOG has not been able to receive confirm from any federal sources on this. Our information comes from local Alaskans who follow Palin, and who have been keeping an eye on this for some time, while keeping it quiet at the request of federal investigators.
Daily Kos:
Did "Housegate" do Sarah in?
[...]
First, in today's [Daily Beast]:Many political observers in Alaska are fixated on rumors that federal investigators have been seizing paperwork from SBS in recent months, searching for evidence that Palin and her husband Todd steered lucrative contracts to the well-connected company in exchange for gifts like the construction of their home on pristine Lake Lucille in 2002. The home was built just two months before Palin began campaigning for governor, a job which would have provided her enhanced power to grant building contracts in the wide open state.
Now for the rest. In today's Firedoglake.com we have this:
SBS has close ties to the Palins. The company has not only sponsored Todd Palin's snowmobile team, according to the Village Voice's Wayne Barrett, it hired Sarah Palin to do a statewide television commercial in 2004.Though Todd Palin told Fox News he built his Lake Lucille home with the help of a few "buddies," according to Barrett’s report, public records revealed that SBS supplied the materials for the house. While serving as mayor of Wasilla, Sarah Palin blocked an initiative that would have required the public filing of building permits—thus momentarily preventing the revelation of such suspicious information.
Just months before Palin left city hall to campaign for governor, she awarded a contract to SBS to help build the $13 million Wasilla Sports Complex. The most expensive building project in Wasilla history, the complex cost the city an addition $1.3 million in legal fees and threw it into severe long-term debt. For SBS, however, the bloated and bungled project was a cash cow.
Whether the alleged federal investigation into the Palins and SBS prompted her resignation could not be confirmed.
In yesterday's Firedoglake.com we have this:Update: This just in my inbox, from a source connected sometimes to CNN:
"Here's a quote I got from law enforcement here in Alaska yesterday afternoon regarding Palin "a criminal indictment is pending authorization."
Also Daily Kos:
The prosecution just rested in the Ted Stevens trial, in which he is accused of accepting $250,000 worth of free renovations to his house from VECO, an oil pipeline company. VECO workers labored for months remodeling Stevens' home at the company's expense.
The Palin's two-story, four bedroom, four bath home on Lake Lucille is worth $552,000. "Todd Palin built the house with friends who were contractors, he said in a recent television interview."
At the same time the mighty Todd was building the house, the Wasilla Sports Complex was under construction right down the road. Just who were these "friends who were contractors" who did such a huge favor for the Palins by building their house for them? Was it payback for the sports complex contracts? Wayne Barrett of the Village Voice asks the question, below the fold.
From MSNBC:
From Max Blumenthal:
The suddenness of her announcement raises the question about whether Palin resigned to avert a major scandal. One logical place to start looking is the affair that has Alaska political circles buzzing: an alleged scandal centered around a building contractor, Spenard Building Supplies, with close ties to Palin and her husband, Todd.
Many political observers in Alaska are fixated on rumors that federal investigators have been seizing paperwork from SBS in recent months, searching for evidence that Palin and her husband Todd steered lucrative contracts to the well-connected company in exchange for gifts like the construction of their home on pristine Lake Lucille in 2002. The home was built just two months before Palin began campaigning for governor, a job which would have provided her enhanced power to grant building contracts in the wide-open state.
From Huffington Post/Shannyn Moore:
For weeks the rumors of a criminal investigation against the governor have been brewing. They are rumors, but are swirling fresh again with Palin's resignation. I'm holding my breath for the other "Naughty Monkey" to drop.
From Huffington Post/AKMuckRaker:
Then there is the other matter. In Alaska it's become known as "the iceberg." The iceberg is rumored to be a piece of news that's so damaging, and so big, it will sink the S.S. Palin. The rumors also exist that it's coming soon. Speculation about IRS problems, issues with other three-letter organizations, more ethics complaints, and embezzlement abound. Questions have been raised about the construction of Palin's house by a bunch of Todd's buddies, at the same time that a giant sports complex was being built just down the road in Wasilla, and right after building codes had been abolished by the then mayor of Wasilla, one Sarah Palin. Do we know anything for sure? No. But the recent claim that the breaking of this scandal is imminent seems coincidental to say the least.
Firedoglake.
Oxdown Gazette:
At a news conference, held in front of the windows in her home that look exactly like some of the windows in the Wasilla Sports Complex (Palin's most dubious achievement as Wasilla mayor), Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced she will be resigning her duties in two weeks. Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, the man who put the "lack" in "lackluster," will assume her duties at that time.
[...]
Although speculation about possible investigations into aspect of her conduct, both as Alaska Governor, and in her earlier job as Wasilla Mayor, has been rampant, there is no hard data to indicate that any of the rumored investigations into Palin or the Palins will come to a conclusion soon.
[...]
Update: This just in my inbox, from a source connected sometimes to CNN:
"Here's a quote I got from law enforcement here in Alaska yesterday afternoon regarding Palin "a criminal indictment is pending authorization."
Muriel Kane:
Alaskan blogger Shannyn Moore suggested at Huffington Post that “rumors of an ‘iceberg scandal’ have been circulating” even before today’s announcement.
[...]
Moore later spoke by phone with BradBlog’s Brad Friedman and told him that “Palin is ‘resigning as part of damage control’ due to a scandal this is ‘not of a family nature.’”
[...]
Mike Brody, reporting for MyFOX National, asks “Is Palin Facing Embezzlement charges?”
“When Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin abruptly announced Friday that she would leave office more than a year early, many wondered what she would do and why she was resigning,” Brody writes. “Now we may have some answers.”
The article, which is being carried by multiple Fox affiliates, continues, “Reports have surfaced that Palin may have quit her job because she was trying to avert a major, yet-to-be-disclosed corruption scandal.”
“The crux of the rumor is that Alaska building company Spenard Building Supplies (SBS) was awarded a contract by Palin to build a hockey arena in Wasilla, Alaska, and in return, SBS helped construct the Palins’ home,” Brody writes, before linking to online reports already noted above.
Nathan P. Origer:
Sources are saying that Sarah Palin’s sudden resignation as Alaska Governor is actually damage control because a major embezzlement scandal is about to erupt involving construction projects in her home town of Wasilla, Alaska.
Multiple sources have been digging around in the wake of Sarah Palin’s cryptic resignation speech Friday and they’ve found that when Palin was Mayor of her home town of Wasilla, AK in 2002, she was influental in the construction of the Wasilla Sports Complex and hockey arena. First of all, the $12mil+ project ended up in the hands of contractors who were friends of friends of Palin. Secondly, at around the same time the sports complex was being built, so was Palin’s new house. What’s interesting about that is the house is constructed from the exact same materials the sports complex was built with. The windows in both structures are the same, the wood is the same, pretty well everything.
When the house was being built, Palin, being Mayor at the time, influenced the bylaw requiring building permits in the town so that now there is no official list of the contractors who worked on her house.
One commenter offers a potential cold-water splash of reality, though:Their house was built *before* the contract for the sports complex was even awarded, so I guess “about the same time” could be somewhat accurate. Also, the decision was made in May, just not publicly announced until this weekend, so I’m not sure which members of her family didn’t know, but I’ll bet if you look hard enough, you’ll find someone related to her who hadn’t heard. Oh, and as for the wood being the same as the sports complex, they both came from SBS. I’ll bet the wood I got from SBS is the “same” too. What does that say about me?
SBS is a very politically connected company. I’m not saying there isn’t something fishy going on here, I’m just saying you don’t have to reach so hard to try and paint such an ominous set of “coincidences” as you are. That’s not reporting, that’s simply pushing and agenda. Perhaps you’re looking to be hired by Fox News?
From Associated Content:
It now looks as if Sarah Palin might be looking at a federal indictment. A federal indictment on embezzlement charges. Sarah Palin facing federal indictment charges might not fit well into a basketball metaphor, but her resignation Friday might be because federal prosecutors have compiled a "slam dunk" case against her.
[...]
It looks as if all these people might have been justified in their suspicions. And for want of a better moniker, not to mention finally getting away from all the "gate" scandals, calling the Sarah Palin federal indictment following the attempted press conference subterfuge the "Iceberg Scandal" works on so many levels.
From AKMuckraker:
I present “House Gate”. There will be more digging on this one in the days to come, but here’s what we know now.
Judah Freed:
A pending federal embezzlement indictment may explain why Sarah Palin yesterday suddenly announced her mid-term resignation as the governor of Alaska, leaving her future plans unclear.
[...]
Instead, I'm believing the assertion of investigative reporter Brad Friedman in The Brad Blog, citing confirmation from "multiple sources" in Alaska, that Palin will resign by the end of July to get ahead of expected U.S. criminal charges for embezzling federal funds during her term as mayor.
The charges flow from federal investigators discovering that the Wasilla Sports Complex and Palin's house in Wasilla feature the "same windows, same wood, same products" – all installed by the same construction crews.
L. Steven Sieden:
Another theory is that she will soon be indicted by the feds for embezzlement. She may be facing a federal indictment for embezzlement, according to Huffington Post blogger Shannyn Moore.
Moore is reporting that the so-called "iceberg scandal" involves the use of Wasilla Sports Complex building materials for Palin's residence during her tenure as mayor. According to Moore, "Both structures, it is said, feature the same windows, same wood, and same products."
ChattahBox:
Now, it appears Palin may have been giving up her office just a few steps ahead of federal investigators who are planning to serve up criminal indictments against both Sarah and her husband, “First Dude” Todd Palin.
Palin’s short and tenuous term of governor has been marked by scores of investigations into her alleged ethics violations. Now, the so called, “iceberg scandal,” brewing since 2002 during Palin’s tenure as Wasilla’s mayor, which involves a shady, possible criminally corrupt, connection between the builder of the Wasilla Sport Complex and Palin’s lakefront home, has come home to roost.
According to Alaskan reporter Shannyn Moore, as reported on Brad’s Blog and the Huffington Post the federal investigation centers on claims that Palin steered the contract for the Wasilla Sports Complex to Spenard Building Supplies in exchange for the construction and building materials of her home, and the scandal is about to break wide open.
TheSpreadIt:
Sarah Palin Federal Indictment is the speculation that is going around the world wide net today.Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has allegedly been forced to resign because of a federal indictment pending in an embezzlement scandal that claims that she illegally obtained important financial favors and gifts from Spenard Building Supplies/SBS.
The former governor is embroiled in an embezzlement scandal that revolves around the $12.5 million sports complex that she ordered to be built while Mayor in Wasilla.
Jim Brogan:
Sarah Palin Indictment - Alaska Governor Sarah Palin reportedly resigned because of a federal indictment pending in an embezzlement scandal that allegedly involves her receiving huge financial favors from Spenard Building Supplies.

Ahhhh, the blogosphere. Hook a minnow and they think they've got a whale.
Fish tales around a campfire.
I ain't worried.
Van Flein has pretty much got this stuff covered.
I hear the theme music from Jaws playing in the background...there is a Cuda on the prowel...wouldn't want to be in her sites right now! What do ya think Shannyn?
Remember Troopergate and the feeding frenzy? This time, Sarah can sue back.
All this is making me nervous!
I hope all these rumors are put to rest. The attacks just never stop.
JournoList, it's not an accident. It's the liberal smear network.
I sure hope they get msnbc on this. That is the sleaziest station on the air and they need to be shut down..really slimy people.
LindaW, it's old lies rehashed.
Wow. Seriously, how much do you have to hate a person to spend this much time dragging her name through the mud??
Enough already - thank you Mr. Flein (and the Palin family) for fighting back and naming names! How absurd it all is!
AKMuckRaker: Can we stop playing that game? Her real name is Jeanne Devon and she said...

Haha! What a filthy bitch.
The incredible shape-shifting iceberg, heh?
First it was Trig Troof, then it was "scandalous" pics, and now it's some bullshit building nonsense.
Maybe it was wrong to delete all of the troll posts. Just think about it... we could have had the "iceberg chronicles" all laid out in the archive.
Poor fools. Someone should tell them that the iceberg isn't even an ice cube. It's only a figment of *Gryphon's imagination.
*Please donate to his paypal account. He was late with last month's rent.
*Ducking Sarah's ninja assassin squad isn't easy you know!
Oops. Just read the whole thing. so awesome!
Pass the popcorn, I'll take extra butter.
Seriously, looks like Arianna Huffington and Ms.Moore (among others) chickens are coming home to roost.
You know, I wonder if the Sarah Legal squad has been archiving all of this BS? Just sayin....
I'd like to see Moore and some of the others dragged into court. They'd spill their guts in a flash as to who is paying them, who is providing them their "information," etc. We all know it's Axelrod, Soros, and the DNC. I'd like to see them get sued.
This is is just so disgusting. I'm glad Sarah is fighting this. I almost got sick listening to MSN, terrific reporting? Really, what did she have to say of substance? All I hear are unconfirmed rumors taking an undetermined amount of time to drop. I think they have reached the limit of wolf crying. Iceberg indeed, more like a Ice mirage.
Are these people seriously demented enough to believe that resigning somehow negates this 'scandal' or that for someone as watched, judged, examined as Governor Palin has been in the past 10 months no one in the MSM knows a thing about this? Gimme a break.
cjh
Thomas Van Flein! What an awesome sounding name. I can't decide whether I'm going to imagine him as a spaghetti western gunslinger or an action hero.
Van Flein in......A Fistful of HuffPo Dollars!
or
Van Flein is......The LitiGator!
and it's sequel....The MittiGator!
I truly believe yesterday's decision will go down as the most brilliant, out-of-the-box political move of our lifetime.
So brilliant, it made my 'Computer-free-July/August' pledge a miserable failure after one pathetic day. Wish me luck on my second try, and I'll see you on Sept. 1st... for the long haul to election day!
Tic-Tick-Tick-Tick....
Anybody with half a brain would figure out a bust corrupter is not corrupt. You do not resign from the Gas Commission and file ethics charge against corrupt Commissioners if you yourself are corrupt.
Gov. Palin is the most honest and uncorruptable of all politicians.
Give them Hell Sarah. We will always stand by you.
AP at Hot Air, while using many caveats, neverthelesss linked to Brad in the post about Palin's brother.
Shannon M. "TEFLON regarding the birth of Trig???" UN believable!!!
Ziegler needs to SMACKDOWN this smarmay MSLSD host!!! Either challenge him on his show or see if he is really banned for life on MSLSD.
the real reason palin quit: http://tinyurl.com/mx2ter
The whole thing fell apart because they expected Palin to remain as governor. They also expected Palin to respond like the Bushies and "fight fair". No way Jose, she fights, and dirty too.
The lefty blogosphere setup is designed to take baseless suppositions from the blogosphere and turn them into news content that can be loosed on the public. It's a very sophisticated propaganda food chain, and if nothing is done about it, it will continue to harm Republicans for years to come.
What I find so amazing is so many people are trying to read between the lines and figure out what Sarah is up to. Maybe she told the truth, and told you what she's up to, maybe take her at face value, because if she's the person I think she is, it's going to be good,
On IM this is all they are talking about. Fed. indictment of Sarah, etc. Housegate. you name it. Disgusting, guess they haven't seen the letter from her attorney.
PASS THIS ON TO PALIN'S COUNSEL:
There's an important difference between "defamation" and "conspiracy to defame." Daily KOS has just crossed the line into "conspiracy to defame" by expressly soliciting media to republish statements, even though they be knowingly defamatory citing that Palin's status as a "public figure" sets a too high bar to prove defamation.
What Daily KOS has just done is said its OK to knowingly defame Palin because she is a public figure. That not only crosses the bar as a matter of law and fact, it establishes a "civil conspiracy to defame", beyond mere defamation, which may not be subject to the same "public figure" defense.
PASS THIS ON TO PALIN'S COUNSEL!
RE DAILY KOS CROSSES THE LINE FROM DEFAMATION TO CIVIL CONSPIRACY TO DEFAME NEGATES "PUBLIC FIGURE" STANDARD OR DEFENSE, THE DAILY KOS ITEM IS AT: (copy it ASAP before KOS may delete it because of what I say).
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/7/4/750060/-Palins-Attorney-Threatening-Lawsuits-UPDATE-X2
Dumb move by KOS, very dumb move.
Can't you ask the feds if there is an investigation on the Palins?
What ever happened to journalist doing real research?
I hope Sarah's lawyer hits all the news shows ASAP via phone and puts out that they are going to start legal action ASAP on this unless there is a formal retraction and apology.
This is bull.
This is dumb anyway. Like her stepping down would stop the feds from following through? If it was true would she wait till the 26th to step down?
They are so dumb they can't even lie well.
Palin's counsel isn't stupid. He knows Alaska law. If Markos gives him a chance to own 20% of everything Markos made since 2002, when Kos started, Van Flein will chomp Markos to bitty bits.
This is like red meat to lefty bloggers. They have no edotirs over they're. They'll do all kinds of crazy shit.
Cause of action is everything, though.
Interesting note - apparently the Gov told absolutely no reporters where she was today, when her father was asked where she was he replied, "I don't know." The AP is in a tizzy about how no one knew where she was until she tweeted about the Juneau parade.
section 9:--
I'm sure Palin's counsel knows the law and especially Alaska law, however, he might not have been aware of what Daily KOS has just done.
Take screenshots just in case they remove their blog posts.
Ted - I'm just coming into this story - besides reprinting the libel "housegate" story, what has the Kos just done?
You know, this is also a perfect case study of why I no longer trust a SINGLE, SOLITARY WORD from the mainstream news media. The lies they cheerfully spread about Palin last year (from leftist blogs) was the final nail in the coffin for me. They'd pick up abject crap from scurrilous sources, toss it out into the public sphere, never fully investigate it, then they'd be on to feast off another new piece of garbage. Here, they've done the same thing again. I wouldn't trust the news media ever again, to save my life. And, most particularly, in regards to anything they report regarding Sarah.
Sounds like a last desperate roll of the dice by the ankle biters to stay relevant to me, because with Sarah Palin resigning her position as Governor in Alaska and potentially moving on to a more national role in politics the Alaska ankle biters, particularly Moore and Beagle suddenly find themselves out of a job as the Soros funded lefty blogs shift their focus and financial support elsewhere.

Yep even Faux News had a couple of goobers on today saying there must be something bad coming. Nothing to back it up but hey guys go ahead and just spread this crap anyway.
Even if a law suit didn't have standing in a court. If Sarah sues the others would have to get an attorney to fight the law suit.
Remember when the NY Times reported that McCain had an affair with a lobby person, they had to retract that or risk a law suit.
So let me get this straight. Sarah saw this “Iceberg” coming and decided quick lets sink the ship before we get hit.
Do they really think she’s THAT stupid? Sarah was well aware that the moment she makes the announcement everyone’s going to get digging.
This is just the beginning. Now that shoe doesn’t have the baggage of ethic complaints the MSM is going to throw at her everything they can. Though i thought they may go as far as the kitchen think I guess they are going for the full house.
Anne:--
Basically KOS has solicited media, others and posters to republish -- even though it may be defamation and in spite of it now knowingly being, or reason to believe by information, defamtion -- citing any republisher would be able to avoid liability because Palin is a "public figure". The "public figure" hurdle or defense is much weaker, if it would exist at all, for "civil conspiracy to defame" as opposed to mere "defamation".
As a private citizen can she now increase the limit of the legal defence fund? Can she now accept gifts from foreign nationals?
Patrick, cute but no case could or would be brought against you since clearly "tongue in cheek".
Kos actually meant and conspired to KNOWINGLY DEFAME AND SOLICIT OTHERS INCLUDING MEDIA TO DO THE SAME!
hope the guv still keeps in touch thru twitter.
Ted,
the louder the squawk (anti Palin bloggers), the more they sound guilty.
to phrase the Clarence Thomas sayinmg (senate hearings)....."It's not the evidence, but the seriousness of the charge that matters."
may just be me, but all of the constant rumors and crazy drama wear me out. i can't imagine what they do to the palin family. but DAMN. there's got to be a way permanently shut these liars and miscreant up permanently.
In light of this "news" I feel I have to quote Margaret Thatcher again:
"I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left. "
and
"This lady is not for turning."
hey trolls now that the guv is no longer going to be the guv what you going to do now?
i think the trolls may suffer from PDS withdrawal: symptoms include paranoia, mumbling and violent diaherria.
Here's another report from the FR front on the Politico article I just posted about this, in case RAM or someone is keeping score:
Is there a contact numher lawyer ? they need to file a suit against Channel 9 in Orlando. They just peddled the Daily Kos lies on the AIR at 10 PM. If any Palin people are interested please pull the 10 Pm report ! I called the Obama drone at the news desk and warned them that they are peddling smears . The news room number is 407-822-8353 and feel free to call them !
DDJ, does this mean you're going to STFU and go away?
Broken by DDJ! hahahahah, oh the irony.

New post!!!
With Sarah leaving Juneau soon, I hope this doesn't mean that RAM and Eddie will backdown agaist Jay Ramras.
Any decent Alaskan citizen left to file an ethics complaint against Ramras?
The trolls are melting...melting.
:)
This whole thing could blow up and go public and drag DKOS and the others right through the mud.
Sometimes you just have to admit that you lost this one and move on.
They can't. They are still trying the full-court press on Sarah but she has passed the ball off.
They are gonna foul her and she is gonna hit the 1 for 1.
Fools.
She is going national and Obama's goose will be cooked and they see it miles away.
What happen to the iceberg?
Did it melt? LOL.
LOLOLOOLLLOLL
What is Gryphen going to say now?
Shannyn Moore?
The iceberg was hit by the titanic. This time the titanic didn't sink while the iceberg melted and then...GONE!
Palin hits iceberg. Iceberg fails epically.
News at 6.
This is so much fun.
The only problem is I don't have any popcorn.
There is nothing better and I mean NOTHING better then watching Libs go nuts and destroy themselves from within, it's freakin AWESOME. They are SO desperate to destroy this woman, why, if she is so insignificant and doesn't have any political future, why continue to berate her, the answer is as simple as the nose on your face, SHE CAN BEAT OBAMA AND THEY KNOW IT. They hate Sarah because she is a real human being. Whenever she salutes our troops, libs cringe, libs hate America, Sarah loves America, libs hate guns, Sarah is a member of the NRA, libs love abortion, Sarah refused to have an abortion, libs love socialism, Sarah wants smaller government, nuff said
The C4P staff do the best issue research I've ever seen. And fast! Great & thorough snaphsot of the smears--as they are happening. Great job.
patrick,
no cultist here just a supporter :)
she will continue to have a voice on the national stage just not as a candidate (maybe).
guess you can now go find another mother of a DS kid to harass.
patrick,
oh and stay classy.
Dead Disgraced or in Jail I have to tip my hat to you.
Stupid people. Do they have anything else in life except peddle conspiracy theories?
New tweet from Our Sarah re her attorney's letter. Oh, it's on.
One thing to understand, and it is somewhat covered in the Attorney's letter... There was only 1 supplier of building supplies in Wasilla. Heck, my house most likely has the same wood as the sports center and Palin house.
This isn't a metropolis, it is a tiny town. Of course we now have Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot and even a Sportsman's Warehouse.
The folks over at the new agenda( link is found on this site) are looking for the true names, email addresses, mailing addresses etc of the anklebitters for some expose work of their own, so please contact them with your information, lets cut these people down now
Gov. Sarah Palin's resignation is a great political move for her & our country. Once they thought about it, the majority of Alaskans are actually proud of Sarah Palin for taking first steps towards 2012. This was an appropriate day (Independence Day eve); for her to take some time with her family, focus on immediate strengthening of state and national objectives; all without having her hands tied by holding political office. If Congress and the Obama Team can announce things like the "Cap & Trade Energy Bill" on a Friday; as they have done many other major sneak through bills; then why can't our Governor let the local media know her news first and on a Friday? She also wasn't taking up state time to do it; as she did it on a national holiday and wasn't at work, so no ethics violation. The mainstream media is going crazy with this, like a pack of dogs chasing their tails. Keep on surprising them Sarah.
Our nation is finally waking up to the realities of the Nov. 08 election results and now we want our country back. Sarah is not a quitter, but instead a fighter who thinks outside of the box. She is the square peg that won’t be forced into the round hole; a “complex conservative” (coin termed by my spouse) that both political parties and the media can’t figure out; which is what scares them so much. She may be living outside of the continental United States now; but will end up taking the country by storm come 2012 and move to our country’s capitol.
Gov. Palin gave an excellent speech on Friday (without Speechwriters or Teleprompters); showing intelligence, good eye contact, speaking honestly and directly from her heart straight to the heart of the average American and didn’t require any hand holding (as she writes her own stuff). On the other hand, Obama pays his 28 year old speech writer $175,000.00 (one of the top paid people in Washington) and doesn’t normally do any speeches without a Teleprompter and his personal speechwriter. Think about it. Who is actually the better speaker, based on “their own merit”? Sarah is head of the pack without a doubt.
The mainstream media needs to report ALL statistics correctly and not falsely quote or intentionally misconstrue facts. The "Mainstream American" is beginning to see through the smoke and will now hold their feet to the fire; which is fixing to get really hot. All ethics charges were filed after her nomination for VP candidate and were pushed by the mainstream media’s attack on her and her family. The 15 false ethics charges (cases she has won) have been dropped. By stepping down, she will prevent millions more of state money spent in her defense and wasted time spent by state employees on defending more charges. Not one of them was proven valid, but continues to cost the Palins thousands from their personal budget.
Sarah is the opposite of Obama in so many ways; budget conscious, a supporter of capitalism, honest, supports our constitution, ethical, patriotic, believing in and not wanting to control her country and more. This is the opposite of Obama and multiple other governors & senators who have left their gubernatorial or congressional responsibilities gathering dust, continued drawing a paycheck from the government coffers, and traveling while in the process of running for higher political office. She can now spend days or weeks away from the state and will not do this on the public dime. What an unusual political candidate; a real, honest, hard-working, ethical, middle-class person; not wanting to waste her state’s money. WOW.
skiptheobamatrauma...
Palin is in every way the anti-Obama.
At this point, I think the only things they have in common are, they both are married, have children, speak English, wear clothing and breath oxygen.
She is his complete opposite in every blessed way possible. I think listening to some of her accomplishments, we can see why her skillset will be in so great demand come 2012. She can undo the damage and help restore our republic.
Sarah has posted a statement today on Facebook declaring that she will be prosecuting HuffPo and others who have been spreading these lies. It includes a unequivocal statement from the FBI that there are no pending charges nor are there even any ongoing investigations of Palin.

I expect that her legal moves will trigger a groundswell of enthusiasm by her supporters that will propel her permanently into the "serious candidate" for 2012. She could find herself to be in a position to either impose herself onto the GOP or take her movement to form a new party.
Like the rest of us conservatives, she will discover that we don't need the GOP. We are doing much better without their "help".
What an AWESOME post, way to uncover these underhanded characters. The Palin bashers' credibility is down to one micron by now.
It is obvious too there are DNC-backed blogs and professional MB trolls out there to help in the trashing of Palin.
They spends all their time on the same sites, jump on every thread early and often with a bunch of snarky drivel.
Steer the topic. Change the subject. Deflect and divert.
David Plouffe runs this internet effort, "Organizing America" who's tentacles reach almost every forum, blog, and comments section- underhanded, cowardly, and despicable... net savvy married to Chicago Machine thuggery, basically.
And they are obviously under marching orders on the blogs and boards to attack Palin all-out at any percieved opportunity.
Typical was that "Celtic Diva" up in Alaska, some slob with an official DNC blog used for suing and attacking Palin.
If Obama's wisdom and moral supremacy are so self-evident, then what's all this thought-control and propaganda for?
What a bunch of worms-

I discuss what's wrong with this post and how Palin supporters who have websites can be more effective here.
those posts at firedoglake under "Edward Teller" were actually posted by Phil Munger.
another example of their sloppy and amateurish reporting.
