Under the Banner of C4P, Beyond The Rubicon

Tangled in my own uncertainties, I watched with fascination last Friday evening as a lone barbarian stepped out of the anxious horde and set out to forge the waters of the Rubicon with the banner of Conservatives4Palin clutched proudly in his hand.

I recognised that man as someone who had introduced himself as Tim, some weeks ago, in welcoming me to the team of contributors. “Glad to have you,” he said in a simple, much appreciated gesture.

All weekend I have watched as others have also begun that same journey into the unknown, by expressing their own indications of faithful support for Governor Palin; and I imagine that, like me, the uncertainty of what the future holds may be in their mind.

Before I too stepped out of the waters of the Rubicon onto the land beyond it occurred to me to pause momentarily and glance around at just what it was I was leaving behind, and there on the distant bank stood Linda Kellen Biegel, wringing her hands in glee and, however imponderable this may be my barbarian friends, dancing a merry jig.

Tempting though it was to raise the middle finger of my right hand in a demonstration of juvenile spite, I simply stood and watched her antics. I don’t know that any of the things I have ever said about her have touched her in any way, but, you understand, none of it was ever intended for her eyes. Eddie Burke, I hoped that you would see my warnings, you too Sheila Toomey and you also, good people of the Office of the Governor.

I hope that you will all have seen the latest declaration of intention at Celtic Diva’s Blue Oasis:

My plans haven't changed.

--I'll continue to push for the records request that was bought and paid for by the government- transparency-loving readers of the Alaska blogs.

--I'll continue following through with the comments I submitted in protest/response to the dismissal of the Arctic Cat ethics complaint.

--As other requests are answered, I will continue to take appropriate action if the information warrants it.

Sean Parnell, you should be listening.

And so it was that I looked at Kellen Biegel on that distant bank for what I hope will be the last time. It’s possible that when again Governor Palin walks Auburn-like to the cheers of thousands, or speaks to the fervent in a 60,000 seater stadium, or debates in front of those gathered in their millions around their tv screens, I may spare a thought for the empty, festering waters of the Blue Oasis. It’s possible that Hell may also freeze over.

In my days as a member of Team Sarah I recall receiving an email from someone called Joseph Russo, an invitation to join him at a website called Conservatives4Palin. He couldn’t have known at that time what the future held for his $10 site, much less have contemplated that almost 350,000 visits in the space of the thirty days of June alone would take place.

Once again, it seems, we are in a situation where we do not quite know what the future holds for this humble $10 blog. But as I stand here under the unfurled banner of Conservatives4Palin, its flag fluttering in a gentle breeze if you like, beyond the Rubicon, the future is one in which the Linda Kellen Biegels will fade into insignificance.

When I joined as a contributor I was given just two rules. Firstly, that Governor Palin was never to be referred to by her Christian name. As a woman of extraordinary accomplishment that must always be acknowledged – hence I began my first ever post with these words:

"The Governor of Alaska, the Right Honorable Sarah Palin..."

I was also advised that the contributors at C4P never ever refer to a person’s appearance. I have upheld that rule and uphold it to you now in identifying the woman still wringing her hands with glee and dancing her mad jig, the woman who chose to make the world a less welcoming place for the vulnerable, who told us that it was funny when others did the same and who provided links to awful websites carrying abysmal images, as the most reprehensible personality with whom we have had to deal.

Surprising though it now seems, I had never heard of Sarah Palin until the day she was introduced as John McCain’s running mate. One of the things which struck me immediately was that hers was a very handsome family, a smiling face of Alaska – a part of the world I then knew virtually nothing about.

I don’t share Senator Murkowski’s view that Governor Palin has abandoned the people of Alaska or Alaska itself. There are individuals in Alaska who have worked together to do their utmost to drive Governor Palin and her family away, and voices of authority who could have offered public support to their governor appeared, all too often, complicit by their silence.

I believe that in all I have seen these last ten months Governor Palin has been Alaska’s greatest advocate. I trust that she will continue to be its greatest ambassador and I hope that C4P will take a central role in reporting on that and the many other things she will do as a force for good in your country.

I am an ordinary barbarian and I too have crossed the Rubicon.

Good mourning.

I encourage all of you to join me in sorties over the Blue Oasis to tease, torment and GIVE IT 'EM BACK to the enemy!

MAY THE USS SARAH H. PALIN DISH OUT HELL TO AMERICA'S ENEMIES FROM THE BLUE OASIS & POINTS BEYOND!

V FOR VICTORY!

"Critics are spinning, so hang in there as they feed false info on the right decision made as I enter last yr in office to not run again...."

From Sarahs twitter.

I am an ordinary housewife in Georgia (which surely qualifies me as a barabarian)...and I too have crossed the Rubicon.

Gelston July 5, 2009 12:29 PM

I am crossing the Rubicon with you and Gov Palin.
I will give my life for The Governor and her ideals.

I plead guilty. I most often call Sarah Sarah. After 3 weeks many more will be doing the same.

MEMO TO TEAM PALIN:--

You're likely already aware, but in light of the post-announcement reaction, here's the position:

YOU ABSOLUTELY DON'T MIND TAKING ALL THE HEAT AND CRITICISM -- IF, AND THAT'S THE BIG IF -- THAT HEAT AND CRITICISM WOULD ADVANCE THE AGENDA FOR BOTH AMERICA AND ALASKA!

BRING IT ON (and bring on the heat)!!!

You're likely already aware, but in light of the post-announcement reaction, here's the position:

YOU ABSOLUTELY DON'T MIND TAKING ALL THE HEAT AND CRITICISM -- IF, AND THAT'S THE BIG IF -- THAT HEAT AND CRITICISM WOULD EITHER BE A COST OF AND/OR ADVANCE THE IMPORTANT AGENDAS FOR BOTH AMERICA AND ALASKA (more productively than continuing here in AK)!

BRING IT ON (and bring on the heat)!!!

AND message specifically to PALIN FAMILY:--

When the MSM, beltway pundits and Obamanation et al attack your family, they not only are attacking you, they are attacking all of us!

NEVER FORGET that we consider it an attack on all of us. Therefore, we are and remain with you!!!

Thank you for being there.

Did you know that there is a stretch of the Rubicon that you can just walk across now? There are numerous bridges going up to accommodate the Barbarian hordes.

Just look at twitter.

Life is grand in the Palin Nation. :)
And Tammy Bruce is my new best friend.

Happy Sabbath, All.

alwaysfiredup July 5, 2009 1:18 PM

Well, she certainly knows how to keep people like me from taking a couple of days off around the holiday! It took me a day or so, but I accept now that Governor Palin cannot effectively run for president and remain governor of Alaska, and that the deficiencies her critics have identified in her fitness for that office cannot and will not be corrected through another eighteen months of being Alaska governor. She is doing what she has to do,and so am I. I have crossed.

Rachael July 5, 2009 1:19 PM

I think it's fun to be on the other side, watching everyone else scramble amongst themselves daring each other to be the next to cross. We've got Tammy Bruce, we've got Glenn Beck, we've got all of those who were in it from the beginning. We've lost some who think they know better, like Michael Reagan.

She wasn't going to gain any fans in the beltway with this move. That's obvious. I'm content with where things stand right now; barring any unforeseen circumstances I think there's nowhere to go but up and we've seen that over the past 48 hours.

I just hope this move is part of a Master Plan of Sarah to run in 2012. Even this weird and unusual move should not matter when she has the Republican Conservative base loyal support. She still beats Pawlenty, Romney and the gang. She still gets the nomination.

I still have my fingers crossed. Because she is the only one that can make this fraud and coward president a One Termer.

Toki De La Vega July 5, 2009 1:32 PM

This calls for an analogy!
/techno
===

Ronald Reagan is Hideyoshi Toyotomi, Sarah Palin is Ieyasu Tokugawa, and the GOP establishment is Mitsunari Ishida.

Tokugawa ended up becoming the leader of Japan while Ishida was decapitated by ordinary villagers with a bamboo saw.

win/win

gardunne63 July 5, 2009 1:38 PM

My god, Sarah has just blown up the conservative blog-o-sphere since July 3. It's the women vs the men is how I see it.

Allah and Ed don't know what hit 'em. Ace of Spades can't take the heat from the Palinistas. Sarah's conservative female blog fans are even more so in her corner today.

I don't think Sarah could ever begin to know how much power she has by the mere act of getting up each morning and just taking another breath.

T.Gerber July 5, 2009 1:40 PM

Reading about all these Devons and Biegels, Ramrasses, Hawkers , Garas, Kertullas and Frenches was indeed a nuisance, this train is bound for glory, all those nitpicking bigmouthing dwarfs have just faded away.

Bill in Baltimore July 5, 2009 1:45 PM

it does seem like Linda Biegel is fading into the distance . . .
as Sarah moves in another direction . . . and her support as well

Bill in Baltimore July 5, 2009 1:48 PM

The family picture on this post has been prominently displayed in my kitchen ever since Aug 30, 2008.

What a family.

Go take your meds.

The Sarah Gambit

Sarah just sacrificed a pawn to win the whole game.

The pawn is her office of Governor, and handing her enemies the temporary opportunity of smearing her with the insulting moniker, "quitter".

The game is...the Presidency...no, more than that, it is her country!

Sarah is the Bobby Fischer of politics. Just as he was unconventional, and faced down the massed ranks of the Soviet grandmasters in the 70's, so Sarah is facing down the massed ranks of the Soviet-USA forces in politics and in the media.

Sarah will win; nay she has already won.

Checkmate!

Rubicon crossed!!

SARAH 2012!

The left should be dancing on the streets. They think they have killed the Conservative beast.

But I hope this is just part of a MASTER PLAN.

In international political history there has been unusual and weird moves that became big wins: Lincoln, Nixon, etc.

This move of Sarah might be one of them!

T.Gerber July 5, 2009 2:10 PM

Just found on Daily Kos:

"It doesn´t matter if the stories floating around here or other blogs are false, rumors gossip or just plain mean, the fact that they get out there and ruin her reputation is all that counts. Truth matters little if she is driven out of politics"

defendAmerica July 5, 2009 2:11 PM

From the American Thinker...

"And then there are the brilliant and respected Republicans like Christopher Buckley and Colin Powell. While these two wizards were among many swooning at the elegant and brilliant Obama and chafing at the plain spoken Palin, they failed to notice that the elegant one was a socialist who was mentored by American hating radicals.

Dumb ole hick Governor Palin was never fooled of course. Now Buckley and Powell have chimed in publicly with various degrees of buyer's remorse. Maybe living within sight of the Soviet Union does sharpen ones sensitivty to certain vibes. Point to Palin and the outsiders again."

I just tried to play USSSarahPalin on the Blue Oasis but am being jammed.

Why don't we all here link up and jam Blue Oasis with variants of USS Sarah Palin and shoot back at the fat masochist bully?

Robert J. Moeller July 5, 2009 2:19 PM

Hey I randomly found your blog and I'm glad I did. Very interesting stuff! I'm a conservative writer/grad student/blogger in Chicago (rjmoeller.com). Keep up the good work!

PEC July 5, 2009 2:20 PM

What Daily Kos just did was remove them self as a quotable source. Save this quote for later. When a NEwscaster uses them as a source it is by their own admission they are not credible.

Gelston July 5, 2009 2:21 PM

Brianus,
Dear friend, I have thought about you so many times in the last few days.
With all your sorrows, you did not need a distraction like The Governor's announcement.
I hope you are getting by OK.

Ted July 5, 2009 2:23 PM

gardunne63:--

It's not the GOP women against the GOP men as you say. Rather it's the GOP with cajones against the GOP without cajones.

It just so happens that Sarah Palin has the cajones and the others (many men included) do not.

Lakerfanalways July 5, 2009 2:26 PM

Does anyone here know where I can find the email address for Sarah's attorney? I already found his phone number on his official site, what I am planning on doing is compiling a list of every defamatory comment made by a news organization or web site so that Sarah can sue. If we stand up and fight, we can win. The libs are TERRIFIED of her because she can beat Obama..they are SHOCKED, STUNNED that a Republican has the courage to fight, 8 years of Bush and he never stood up and defended himself from being called every name in the book, they think they can get away with it, Sarah isn't backing down and they hate it..Oh and another thing, if she has no political future, how come they are still so desperate to "run her out of politics" They are such bold face liars, the best day of my life will see Sarah Palin as PRESIDENT Palin on January 20, 2013, watch libs throw themselves off of buildings, it will be win/win

PEC July 5, 2009 2:26 PM

Oh and even in those few moments that Sarah was announcing I knew I woulod support her. I knew as RA Monsour, JR and crew from the beginning said of what we stand for and if she went back to Wasilla and snow machined I would still support her. As she crossed the Rubicon I think C4P crossed with her, built the bridges for the other Barbarians and as they are built they will stem across.
Her exact move from here on may not be perfectly clear but the intent is clear. Let us take this country back.

MiCudaFan July 5, 2009 2:28 PM

It took me all of an hour on Friday night to figure out that Governor Palin is the most brilliant politiician in our lifetime. Go Sarah, GO!!!

Gelston, Dear Friend,

I will admit that it has been a bit overwhelming. Still, I am at peace. I know my brother, in Catholic terms, did his Purgatory here on Earth. I am convinced he went right to Heaven. He was a good, brave family man.

As I have noted elsewhere, I find it difficult to express in words what Sarah has meant to me...the courage that her example and life have given to me.

God bless you, friend, and all my friends on this great site who stood with me in thought and in prayer throughout the long, trying months.

My participation here may be intermittent in the near future; but please know that I am always with you in spirit as we fight for...HER!!!!

Bill in Baltimore July 5, 2009 2:32 PM

My C4P friends and fellow barbarians, I have a short story to tell you.

On the morning of Independence Day, my dear wife of 28 years was sitting on our bed SINGING HYMNS out of a hymn book, OUT LOUD.

Neither she nor I can sign a lick.

Now there are some good things going on in our lives, but she has never, ever, not once done something like this.

While I was thrilled that her joy was bubbling out, I couldn't help but think that it is symbolic for our nation.

God bless Charles and Sally Heath.
