World's Biggest White Sox Fan Doesn't Know the Name of Home Park
The White Sox currently play at "U.S. Cellular Field." However, for nearly 100 years they played at two separate stadiums -- both with the name "Comiskey Park" in honor of team owner Charles Comiskey.
President Obama styles himself as a big time White Sox fan, and last night he threw out the first pitch of the annual MLB All-Star game wearing a White Sox jacket.
In an interview with MLBTV, Obama referred to the stadium as "Cominskey Field":

This was kind of a cheap shot. Now don't get me wrong, I really don't like the guy. But I appreciate C4P rising above the fray and attacking him on substance. So he mispronounced the name of a ballpark. If this article was on HuffPo and about Sarah mispronouncing something we would all roll our eyes and chalk it up liberal garbage.
Attack this man on substance. There is plenty out there to go at. This stuff is a waste of time. Our energy is needed elsewhere. There are much bigger battles to fight.

CONCLUSION:
Sarah better be practicing how to throw a baseball off the mound. The time will arrive when she has to prove it.
Don't laugh. A good straight confident throw to homeplate at Fenway or Philly will impress them.

DefendAmerica, You make a valid point! However, we can poke fun at President Obama respectfully. I think that other blogs would have the right to poke fun at something Sarah mispronounces as well, so long as it is in good fun and is done respectfully! We should not have a double standard in these situations.
I am concerned about the trajectory the Obama administration has set out on and what that means for my family and the future of my nation.
I see Sarah as one of the only individuals with the ideals, vision, and passion needed to change out current direction. She has a huge base. She is genuine and honest. And she is able to articulate her position in a way that those who support her connect with deeply.
I am not concerned about Obama's inability to pronounce the name of a ballpark.

Coming from a family of athletes, and having played many sports myself, I am insulted by your comment he throws like a girl.
I played fastpitch softball. My daughter has been involved in fastpitch softball her whole life. She is a catcher. She is on the receiving end of some pretty mean and wicked pitches.
Also my niece was a pitcher and played all the way through college.
These ladies can throw 60-80 mph and they have a variety of pitches they can throw. I can guarantee you, Obama does not throw like a girl. ;)
What I got a kick out of was the guy in the cart, with Stan Musial. When President Obama was getting the ball from Stan the Man, that guy looked as if: "If I don't look at President Obama maybe he won't see me, and won't try to shake my hand." Staring straight ahead, with an Andrea Mitchell face. No sudden movements!

I wasn't home last night so I missed the game. I have been disappointed in ESPN's love fest towards Obama and the coverage of the game was no exception.
I did hear one small critisism of the pitch. I listen to AllNight with Jason Smith on ESPN radio. His show starts at 10pm Pacific. He very nicely called Obama out on his pitch and said that the catcher was a hero for getting the ball.
He mentioned the same point Sapwood made about the fabled opening pitch. We American do have strong cultural rituals and baseball is one of them. How a person throws a baseball says a lot about them. It is something that we all can relate to.
To be honest, I was hoping he would double bounce it. :)
And yes, I'm hoping Sarah is practing.

He looked like he had good form at the beginning of the pitch and then it just dropped off at the end. It was kind of a metaphor for his presidency.
Meh, I'm not a sports fan so I'll give Obama a pass on this. Everything else, not so much!

I wouldn't doubt if he threw it bad on purpose, knowing that it would take up time in conservative media. Obama is a very calculating man, and he likes distractions so he can push his agenda.

If I saw any of your competent female relatives slinging a fastball, I would NOT say they are throwing like a girl.
I stand by my statement that our POTUS 'throws like a girl'. I am not the product of the metrosexual/Allahpundit culture. I grew up with baseball, played Little League, etc.
Now, if you want to cause a rift in Sarah's Movement over me pointing out the truth, you can do that.
But, you will not find a more fierce, partisan, loyal follower than the Sapwolf for anything Sarah.

And yes, I enjoy watching ladies softball on TV when I catch it surfing. Even that play where the other team carried their opponent around the bases so she could run her HR out.

After Sarah's Op/Ed in the WaPo, I knew she would be in Obama's head, and he would bounce it to home plate.......but now I think it was a combination of Sarah in his head, and the fact that he's pretty much a wuss!
The whole production was set up to make Obama look good.....from the camera angle (don't let the national audience see where the ball ends up).........to the White Sox jacket (they're booing the jacket, not Obama......right!)......to walking out along side Stan Musial (they won't possibly boo when Stan the Man is on the field)
I only wish that the people who were booing him, would have turned those boo's into chants of:

To be fair, botching the name of his own home team's park puts Barack Obama right in line with a lot of moron sports fans out there. I can't count the number of times on various Mariners boards and blogs that I've seen people botch names like Piniella (our manager), Pineiro (one of our starting pitchers), Balentien (one of our more significant prospects) and Torrealba (briefly our starting catcher); on my favorite M's blog, USS Mariner, you'll still occasionally see comments replaced with [PINIELLA] or [PINEIRO], since the bloggers got so sick of the misspellings. I've never seen anyone misspell "Safeco Field," but I have seen people gratuitously capitalize the "c"; and the hirings of Jack Zduriencik as our GM and Don Wakamatsu as our manager occasioned a certain amount of angst.
All of which is to say, I have no trouble believing that an unintelligent White Sox fan would refer to his team's home stadium as "Cominskey Park"; it's the sort of thing unintelligent fans all over the country do when talking about their favorite teams.
What that says about Barack Obama, I leave to you . . .

I can see it now. Gov's picnic the 26th. Piper and Willow are playing catch. Piper misses a throw from Willow and the ball ends up at Sarah's feet 20' behind Piper. Willow yells out "Hum babe, mom" and gets down in a catchers' position. Sarah stretches her right arm out for ten seconds and rifles a perfect strike back to Willow. Cameras rolling all the while. Excellent.
And believe it or not, just last week, and since I'm a former serious jock myself, I was trying to come up with a "boxers or briefs" equivalent question for Sarah if I had ever been given a chance to ask such a thing. And the question would have been, "Sarah, do you throw like a girl?" I know I don't and I bet Sarah doesn't either.
I'm from Chicago and have been going to White Sox games for 25 years and everyone I know including me calls it Comiskey Park.
