Yet Another Ethics Complaint Filed by Andree McLeod; Tweets from the Governor; UPDATE: Statement from Palin's Attorney

KTUU reports:

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Another ethics complaint has been filed against Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, less than a week before her resignation.

The complaint filed Monday alleges Palin violated ethics law by failing to submit complete gift disclosure forms in a timely manner.

[...]

The latest is the sixth filed by fellow Republican Andree McLeod, an outspoken critic of the governor. 3 of the cases have been dismissed and two others, including one filed last week, remain active.

Palin steps down as Alaska governor on Sunday, with 18 months left to her first term.

UPDATE by Daniel: You may recall that Andree McLeod was denied a position in Gov. Palin's administration. Apparently she took this rejection as an impetus to file numerous frivolous ethics complaints against the governor and her administration, in fact, abusing the ethics process. This latest complaint is yet another example of the complete disregard that anklebiters like McLeod have for the ethics process as they continually undermine it with frivolous complaints, and impose unnecessary costs on their fellow taxpayers in Alaska. So far the cost has been nearly two millions dollars and it continues to pile up.

This complaint joins three other frivolous complaints filed since Governor Palin's July 3rd decision to step aside as Alaska Governor -- a previous one from
McLeod, one filed by Zane Henning, and another by Ray Ward.

You can help by making a donation to the
Alaska Fund Trust.

UPDATE by RAM: From the ADN:

Palin's attorney, Thomas Van Flein, says the multiple filings by one person raise the prospect that the ethics process "is being abused and is simply being used to harass and annoy."

Three of the cases have been dismissed and two others, including one filed last week, remain active.

Palin steps down as Alaska governor on Sunday, with 17 months left to her first term.

Read the complaint
here.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the ADN is always so quick to post the pdf files of the ethics complaints, but is slow as molasses to post the Personnel Board review of these complaints when they're dismissed?

The ADN also posts the governor's "string of
tweets" on the latest complaint:

In violation of Ethics Act more allegations were filed today by serial complainer;gave to press be4 we could respond;ridiculous, wasteful...

Some ask why not sue abusers of Ethics Act bc state wastes 1000's hrs/millions of tax dollars to fight (and win!) frivolous charges, tho...

it costs political critics NOTHING to file/play their wasteful game; They should debate policy in political arena, not hide w/process abuse...

BUT if there was a suit to end public waste of time/funds to constantly address false allegations I could see perhaps a veteran filing it....

someone who's put their life on the line protecting even opponents' right to speak & protest, was willing to die for freedom of press but...

knows it's shameful 4 valuable time& public resources to be diverted frm needed causes to deal w/this abuse of govt accountability system...

Hopefully these political critics filing this stuff (& some in press perpetuating it) appreciate the freedom to do so, protected by our vets

UPDATE II by RAM: Here's the statement from Gov. Palin's attorney, Thomas Van Flein:

FOR RELEASE: JULY 20, 2009

Another Ethics Complaint Filed Against the Governor

July 20, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Once again, an ethics complaint has been filed and publicly released in violation of state law. This is the sixth complaint filed by Ms. McLeod. In addition, she has filed a lawsuit against the Governor's office and multiple public records act requests. All of her prior complaints that have been ruled on have been dismissed. The Ethics Act serves important state interests in ensuring ethical state government and was intended to prevent the various forms of corrupt misconduct that had plagued the Legislature in prior years and which resulted in the prosecution of legislators and others. It is unfortunate that the law has been abused and trivialized in the current manner.

Today’s complaint, filed just six days before the Governor leaves office, alleges that Governor Palin violated the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act by failing to submit complete gift disclosure forms in a timely manner, and obtained “free” services. The apparent primary goal of this complaint has been achieved, namely, an effort to keep the complainant’s name in the paper. We anticipate another dismissal of this complaint as with the complainant’s other complaints. This is the fourth ethics complaint filed against the Governor since the announcement of her resignation on July 3. In every case, the complainers violated the confidentiality provision of the Ethics Act in making their complaints public knowledge.

"fellow Republican"

I am confused.

I thought we were supposed to all be for "Party Unity".

What's up with that?

Larry Sheldon July 20, 2009 6:10 PM

And I object to the abusive use of the word "Loon"--what a beautiful bird to be abused so unkindly.

Sarah peed on Andree's job hopes..

Hell hath no furry like a lunatic with a grudge!

ladydawnelle July 20, 2009 6:12 PM

Please - r u kiddin me?

This is no longer a joke. Andree MUST realize that by keeping this thing GOING & GOING & GOING she is making it even MORE eaSY for SARAH!

Sarah will garner so much sympathy from the public from all of these bogus complaints that these particular 18 or how ever many seem to me as if they are ON PURPOSE trying to HELP SARAH!

and if they don't see it now? they will!

ROFLOL the public loves an underdog that's being picked on!! (hello Rodney King?)

could they really be that stupid? really?

smells fishy to me

but hey anything that helps Sarah is fine by me.

lets make up another 15 - put them on WORLD NEWS TONIGHT!!! Let KATIE CRAPIC deliver the news!!!

yea that's a plan - guess I'd better start knitting my President Palin sweater NOW! ;-)

This McLeod is fixing to have a nervous breakdown. Didn't someone post a clip of her being interviewed like last week? She acts like stalker material...

SCARRY!

alwaysfiredup July 20, 2009 6:15 PM

Apparently we are all to feel sorry for her since big meany Sarah Palin is complaining about her and her friends by name. Oh, the hate mails! and hate emails! and hate blog posts! it's so hard to be a private citizen in Alaska these days...

Someone needs to have this woman committed...she's a danger to society!

Lakerfanalways July 20, 2009 6:21 PM

Andree has already said she will never leave Sarah alone and will continue to do this, even with Sarah out of office. Notice how Linda Biegal has pretty much left Sarah alone, she was just a DNC puppet, but Andree, she is a NUT and is pissed that Sarah did not give her a job, after looking at her behavior, can ANYONE blame Sarah for wanting to stay the hell away from this whack job. Andree is a threat to Sarah's physical safety

Yogi41 July 20, 2009 6:24 PM

This is beyond bizarre and I'm just going to say it; it's clear that this McLeod lady has an unusual fascination with Gov. Palin.

It's beyond just "payback". I honestly believe she has an attraction to Palin and it's manifesting into this overboard, attention-seeking behavior.

gardunne63 July 20, 2009 6:25 PM

I can't wait to read Sarah's twitter about THIS complaint.

I think Andrea is about to find out what it means to have raised the blood pressure of one Sarah Palin one too many times. Six days and counting...

She really does meet the M.O. of a stalker, doesn't she?

If Sarah has anything less than ex-IDF soldiers or former Army Rangers as her security guards, I will worry about her safety.

gardunne63 July 20, 2009 6:27 PM

Hell, if Sarah has anyone less than Jack Bauer guarding her after next week I will worry about her safety!!

lonestar July 20, 2009 6:27 PM

It seems to me the Personnel Board and the State Police should be investigating McLeod. Anyone as obsessed as she is is clearly unstable and quite possibly, dangerous to the Palin family.

CruelaDev July 20, 2009 6:28 PM

Puma for Life July 20, 2009 6:30 PM

I am wondering if Sarah can file harrassment charges against her or some type of countersuit or injunction. Could she be considered some type of stalker?

I don't see how it can be legal for someone to purposely attempt to bankrupt a public figure. Maybe as a private citizen Sarah can do more

Rusty July 20, 2009 6:35 PM

OT: Don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but Romney's PAC filed its June numbers late Friday. Just saw it on the FEC site today.

For the month of June, 2009 Romney raised $298,585. Of this amount 41% came from donations under $200, the remainder from large donors.

For the six months ending June 30, 2009, Romney raised a total of $1,924,375. This compares to $732,868 raised by Sarah. Of this amount, Romney raised only 31% of his donations from contributions under $200 compared to the 57% raised by Sarah from small donors. Most of Romney's money came from executives in the financial industry donationg $1,000 to $5,000 per individual.

For the six months ending June 30, 2009, Romney spent $1,420,782 compared to Sarah spending only $276,201.

At June 30, 2009, Romney had $841,568 cash remaining while Sarah had $456,667 cash remaining.

Currently, Romney is raising on average about $320,000 a month. Therefore, if Sarah is to match Romney, and make up for the current $385,000 cash advantage Romney has on her, she needs to average about $385,000 per month for the last six months of this year - or $2.3 million in total. If she can do this she will be in very good shape going into 2010.

Huckabee's PAC numbers to June 30, 2009, have not yet been posted.

Toki De La Vega July 20, 2009 6:35 PM

I would like Andree's age, weight, and height. Her marital status and living arrangements would also be appreciated.

Can someone get on that?

Information is a two-way street. I need to learn about my prey.

rgoodyear_78 July 20, 2009 6:37 PM

I think even as Governor she should be able to file harassment charges on this individual! it don't matter the title you are! you should be able to defend yourself

CruelaDev July 20, 2009 6:40 PM

But Rusty...

Romney was some $2+Million in the hole from his previous campaign...they don't tell you that!

Romney has his own ground to make up before he can claim any gains.

Hey, all: the best way to respond to these attacks is to donate to The Alaska Fund Trust, Governor Palin's legal defense fund.

Sure, Sarah's book will earn significant $$$...

but why should the Guv's worthy attorneys wait to be paid for their good work?

Why should the Palins have $500k or more in legal fees hanging over them, even for 5 minutes?!

My wish for Monday, July 27:

The lowering of the hammer by Sarah Palin and her capable attorney, Thomas Van Flein, on Andree McLeod (and whoever else should be included) in the form of harassment charges or whatever is appropriate and defendable.

It is time for Sarah Palin to show these morons and the rest of the country that you don't mess with The Barracuda!

Having said that, is such action what Obama's minions are daring her to do? A potential Presidential candidate tied up in court battling her "citizen" enemies?

What do you think?

Not submitting gifts disclosures in a timely manner? Does she mean she wants Palin to open the millions of letters she received to see if there are any cash gifts inside? It's not like Palin lied about it. She wrote in her financial disclosure that she still has boxes to go through.

Well that is just dumb. You know the guv was being very careful to dot those i's and cross those t's regarding any gifts. I thought it had to be over $200 value for her to need to claim it. Sarah had only been out of AK maybe 3 times since the campaign, can't believe she got that many expensive things in AK nor that many mailed to her from people.

This, again, proves Sarah's point.

And I don't care if Sarah got 50 million bucks for her book. If that is what the market will pay her, good, she should not have to waste a penny of her money on this mess. I hope she raises all the money for her legal fees via the Fund.

ladydawnelle July 20, 2009 7:17 PM

maybe all these gifts under 250 are shoes and this Andree is hugely jealous!

some women actually dream about shoes but I'm with Sarah on this one - I don't like to shop - no wonder she's not opened all her mail/gifts/etc

Dan C July 20, 2009 7:18 PM

These people are really pathetic but it is a serious issue as well. Though she will be a private citizen soon, Sarah should seriously consider some private security. I am sure her and Todd can take of themselves, but there are some deranged people out there. This stalker woman is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the radical nutcases who want to hurt and destroy Sarah Palin and her family. I am sure her and Todd will use their good judgement on this.

lmg July 20, 2009 7:21 PM

The CA speech is probably closed to the media because it is a private club. But then, what better way to let your hair down and speak freely, knowing the message will be spread word-of-mouth by good people rather than distorted by the MSM.

M03 July 20, 2009 7:21 PM

Yeah, Sarah made the right choice, to get out.

Andree McLeod must be a secret fan of Sarah otherwise all this makes no sense.

1) Every complaint after her resignation just makes Sarah’s case stronger
2) The general public just gets fed up with all those and won’t take any complaint against Sarah serious.
3) Sympathy for Sarah increases.
4) Just makes more people donate to the Alaska Trust Fund.
5) When the MSM goes after Sarah, the general mood will be “there they go again”

So unless McLeod really loves Sarah, she is just one really really stupid woman

We report, you decide.

Someone said on an earlier thread that once someone leaves office, ethics complaints can be filed for up to 2 years. So, we may see these things popping up well into 2011. Given the fact that McLeod and some of the others have nothing better to do, and are most likely getting paid for their services, they'll keep it up.

oneXSturtle (LindaW) July 20, 2009 8:05 PM

Yeah, it's all too strange for a few to just attack her to such a degree. Dan Fagan hates Palin's guts and doesn't even do that. Perhaps these folks are getting paid for their relentless dirty work. I having a feeling that it started off as a hobby, and then became paid work by the AK Democratic Party that's helping out Obama camp? Or if not paid work, there could be a reward of some sort. Of course, this is all speculation.

Or maybe it's just old fashion vengeance.

juju July 20, 2009 8:06 PM

I believe Sarah is waiting until she gets out of office and may sue several people and they will have to give depositions under oath. Maybe be questioned to find out if they are being paid by someone, etc. This could be very interesting. She may also get all the e-mails and tweets between others, etc.

M03 July 20, 2009 8:07 PM

Well, it reminds me that B.O. has never really won a fiar fight. He got Alice Palmer's name off the ballot in his first run for state senator, after getting her ballot petition thrown out on technicalities.

Then mysteriously when he ran for U.S. Senate, both his opponents (first in the primary, then in the general election) had their divorce records unsealed, driving them from the race in scandal.

Then we all know what Obama did to Hillary in the caucuses and the Acorn registration fraud in swing states against McCain/Palin.

He can't win a fair fight. His whole goal was to bankrupt Sarah and drive her from politics forever. But Sarah is staying one step ahead of him.

oneXSturtle (LindaW) July 20, 2009 8:10 PM

OT but my brother forwarded this to me from the Christian Oilfield Fellowship newsletter:

A Reworking of the 23rd Psalm for the Times

The government is my shepherd;
I need not work.
It alloweth me to lie down on a good job;
It leadeth me beside still factories;
It destroyeth my initiative.
It leadeth me in a path of parasite for politic's sake.
Yea though I walk through the valley of laziness and deficit-spending,
I will fear no evil, for the government is with me.
It prepareth an economic Utopia for me,
By appropriating the earnings of my own grandchildren.
It filleth my head with false security;
My inefficiency runneth over.
Surely the government should care for me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in a fool's paradise forever.

Amanda K July 20, 2009 9:03 PM

From the AP: Alaskan volcanologists confirm that Mt. McLeod is ready to blow her top. The announcement comes after two weeks of increased seismic activity stemming from the McLeod home. Scientists suspect the seismic activity is a direct result of all-night pacing sessions at which time McLeod is seen stomping around her home, wringing her hands and blubbering "Time's running out, times running out".

"I've never seen anything like it", said a geophysicist with the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO), "I want to look away, but I can't".

Although friends and family members of the volatile McLeod have been keeping a safe distance, they have joined with bystanders to get a "front row seat" to "see Andree go 'BOOM'". "IT. WILL. BE. AWESOME.", one cousin was quoted as saying. "I'm running to the store now for more popcorn and beer", said another.

The forecast for this week says to expect an increase of hot air from the volcano's mouth, along with an increase of erratic behavior and noxious, stinky gasses. Scientists predict that she may "go" at any time starting around July 26th or 27th.

"We've been waiting for McLeod to erupt and implode for sometime now. It will be a great show-lots of 'ooooohs and ahhhhhhs'", said a representative of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), "Not going to miss this one. I've canceled my family vacation for shizzle!"

Could you nicely tweet Fred Malek and ask him why he feels that Palin's future plans are "unclear?"

http://www.fredmalekblog.com/2009/07/20/ten-for-the-road-part-2-which-republican-leaders-are-making-an-impact/

"I have omitted my friend, Sarah Palin, as there is no clarity on her future plans."

Sheya July 20, 2009 9:56 PM

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has a web-only ad out hitting Sarah Palin and Charlie Crist, among other Republicans, for “quitting” on their jobs.

http://blogs.creativeloafing.com/politicalwhore/2009/07/17/charlie-crist-sarah-palin-star-in-democratic-attack-ad-quitters-video/

Hannity just showed it under the banner “Threat To Dems”. With the following as his final thought.

Alright, Kathleen Sebelius, Janet Napolitano, Rombo Dead Fish and the president himself.
Now if considering a run for a higher office or answering a call to serve your country makes you a quitter that ad should include all those people I mentioned in the president’s cabinet and Barack Obama himself.

juju July 20, 2009 9:57 PM

I think Fred Malek is right. Sarah has not declared what her future plans are and she has stated she will make them known at a later time.

Sorry, I fail to see how what he said in not fair. He does these lists from time to time and the people change depending on the issues at any given time.

A July 20, 2009 9:59 PM

Vest. If under $150, no violation?

So, how much is a lightly used vest handmade by that craftsman worth? Wholesale? Retail? Garage Sale? In what market?

It would cost more than $150 to get an appraisal that considers all the factors. But, which market? How is the appraisal to be done? A lawyer can answer that with "I don't know" for about $1000.

Is it in the state's interest to appraise it? No. Does the state want it? For what?

Used. Yes, worn by Sarah that day. Did that reduce or increase the hypothetical value in 2007? Got me.

The vest was worn in 2007. That is a worn out issue.

The complaint shows that there is nothing serious to serially complain about.

Aitch748 July 20, 2009 10:03 PM

This makes me wonder if somebody will file yet another ethics complaint against Sarah Palin AFTER she's finally stepped down for good.

TSM Admin July 20, 2009 10:03 PM

I have a phrase that sometimes things can get to where they are "extremely obvious to the most casual observer." I think we are real close on this ethics stuff, if not there. When Olberman sees it, we'll know for sure!

I think Andree is not a secret Palin fan, just so hateful and desperate. Reason really goes out the window at the end. There are times when some person or organization gets so desperate or pushes so hard for so long, that they are actually working against their cause, but they don't see it.

Also, shows Sarah made good decision not hiring Andree!

A July 20, 2009 10:04 PM

If a politician receiving free advice is a gift that must be reported, we have new meaning for "petitioning the government."

What was the value of the ADN editorials advising Sarah?

What was the value of the Sarah haters advising Sarah?

What was the value of the crowd shouting "drill baby drill"? Do you value each person's shout? Are shouter's shouts some more valuable that others?

What fun this can be.

Tommy I stand with juju on this. Would have Malek not have mentioned Sarah at all i would have understood your argument. But he does finish it off stating his reason why he omitted her, which basically means he believes she will be a player should she so choose but he doesn’t want to speculate while he has no clue what her plans are. Once Sarah makes her plans clear you can be sure she’ll be of the top 5 if not number one.

A July 20, 2009 10:07 PM

I think she made her plans quite clear, taking a page from her years out of office, between 2003, when she resigned from the AOG commission, to 2006, when she ran for Governor. She'll do the Simi Valley event, and probably
something else in the interim, but her events schedule will probably
be a little more leisurely this rest of the year, And events will ramp up next year with the book tour, the midterms, and other things as circumstances warrant.

She is paid as a Governor and giving another person advise on how to serve as a Governor...right??

Guess if your minister gives you advise you have to declare that also. And, how about her hair dresser. Did she give her expert advise beyond just the regular perm and set?? This could go on and on...it is endless besides being stupid.

The vest valuation has another issue.

About the vest. I sew and sale items on the net. It would have to be a very, very special vest to retail for $150.00 or be made by a known designer. If this vest was made by a fan and even if it was beaded the wholesale cost would not be more the $50.00 and it is doubtful you could sell it for more the $75 to $100. I found out very quickly not to make things too fancy because of the time involved. Most people will not pay for the time involved for something made by an unknown person.

I have made a number of purses for weddings that have fancy detail and I charge between $15.00 and $25.00. A plain lined vest sells for no more then $50.00.

Unless she plans to move out of state she'll be fine (unless they do a background check on her to find multiple lawsuit filings then she's doomed to be unemployed for a good while).

It's just all so strange. Maybe she'll get a job in the White House....

The frivolous complaints spree will end when it is realized that it is having an effect, which is the opposite of what was intended. The last time the Democrats were taken over by radical thugs, the only result was to drive millions of democratic voters into the arms of Ronald Reagan.

If I am reading the runes right in Alaska, politicans from both sides of the isle will vie to to claim the 'Palin Legacy'. They will shun the anklebiters and the Alaskan 'progressives', knowing that any hint of association will be the kiss of death.

Those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first render stupid.

Perhaps the World hit piece is sour grapes because didn't Palin's co-writer take a leave of absence from World to work with Palin?

If so, oh brother, aren't there any mature people working in journalism anymore?

Also, I believe McCloud has said she will continue to harass Palin for up to 2 years after she leaves office.

I really think someone (a vet) should protest these complaints.

I also think it would be great if the entire personnel board up and resigned because they consider themselves to be harassed and abused by this abuse of the process.

They volunteered to keep Alaskan government from more crimes regarding FBI raids, and instead have spent their time babysitting a gaggle of immature, vendetta-driven whackadoodles.

hrh,

you said:

I have the tiniest sliver of insight into World Magazine, so give them some leeway here.

Lynn Vincent is writing Sarah's bio, I have no doubt that it will be awesome.

So for the World piece, the author has to be looked at, plus I gave the whole deal to the editors at World and they said htey would get back to me.

The biggest thing on the article was really
- an unflattering picture of SP
- a very flattering picture of McLeod,
- the first two words in the article were "Andree McLeod", and before the first sentence was over, indicated that she had essentially "force SP to quit", or words to that effect, but definitely the article said "quit".

Let's just give World a little slack, after all, they have not been on C4P much !

"I have the tiniest sliver of insight into World Magazine, so give them some leeway here."

They can have as much as they give.

I wouldn't read the rag if I were stuck in a Doctor's waiting room with nothing else to do.

Bill in Baltimore July 21, 2009 2:56 PM

Larry,

really, it's not a rag at all. It's a sold Christian magazine.

Like you, I just think they got it DEAD WRONG.

But I still say give them a chance.

I am in no way trying to pick a fight with you, because I agree with your sentiment, but only 98%, not 100%.

But to me this is the same logic as saying that the Couric interview is the end of SP.

And I'm not saying, wait until the next edition comes out or the next article on her, but wait to see what is their response to my inquiry.

I read them the riot act (in a respectful manner), complete with links and points of error on their part, starting at the very first glance of an unflattering picture of SP.

World is a huge asset to this country, I am just saying, let's see what they say.

They have e-mailed me back saying that it has been passed on to the highest levels, and it's my guess that C4P editors are dissecting the article as well to better comment on the source of the author's info.

I bet RAM or someone could identify the source simply by reading the article.

Is this complaint going to have legs? Just saw this AP article

AP NewsBreak: Palin implicated in ethics probe
By RACHEL D'ORO, AP

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — An independent investigator has found evidence that Gov. Sarah Palin may have violated ethics laws by accepting private donations to pay her legal debts, in the latest legal distraction for the former vice presidential candidate as she prepares to leave office this week.

The report obtained by The Associated Press says Palin is securing unwarranted benefits and receiving improper gifts through the Alaska Fund Trust, set up by supporters.

An investigator for the state Personnel Board says in his July 14 report that there is probable cause to believe Palin used or attempted to use her official position for personal gain because she authorized the creation of the trust as the "official" legal defense fund.

The practical effect of the ruling on Palin will be more financial than anything else. The report recommends that Palin refuse to accept payment from the defense fund, and that the complaint be resolved without a formal hearing before the Alaska Personnel Board.

The fund aims to help Palin pay off debts stemming from multiple ethics complaints against her, most of which have been dismissed. Palin says she owes more than $500,000 in legal fees, and she cited the mounting toll of the ethics probes as one of the reasons she is leaving office.

A call seeking comment from her lawyer and an e-mail to her spokeswoman were not immediately returned.

Palin's friends and supporters created the Alaska Fund Trust in April, limiting donations to $150 per person. Organizers declined to say how much it has raised, and had hoped to raise about $500,000. A Webathon last month brought in about $130,000 in pledges.

In his report, attorney Thomas Daniel said his interpretation of the ethics act is consistent with common sense.

An ordinary citizen facing legal charges is not likely to be able to generate donations to a legal defense fund, he wrote. "In contrast, Governor Palin is able to generate donations because of the fact that she is a public official and a public figure. Were it not for the fact that she is governor and a national political figure, it is unlikely that many citizens would donate money to her legal defense fund."

The ethics complaint was filed by Eagle River resident Kim Chatman shortly after the fund was created, alleging Palin was misusing her official position and accepting improper gifts.

Palin was given a copy of the investigator's report a week ago, Chatman said Tuesday.

"It's an absolute shame that she would continue to keep the Alaska Fund Trust Web site up and running," Chatman told the AP.

At least 19 ethics complaints have been filed against Palin, most of them after she was named the running mate for GOP presidential candidate John McCain. Most of those have been dismissed, and Palin's office usually sends a news release with the announcement.

"She's not acknowledging the fact that the ethics complaint was credible," Chatman said. "When ethics complaints are dismissed, she's quick to publicly respond but this one, she's sitting on."

I thought this fund was cleared by the legal beagles.
