Brianus Berkleianus: First Annual Sarah Palin Day
In a post last Monday, I discussed the efforts of C4P reader and friend, Brianus Berkleianus, to promote the celebration of the anniversary of Governor Palin’s auspicious debut on the national political stage. Today, the actual anniversary of that momentous day, Brianus left an impassioned and heartfelt comment in the open thread. Sarah Palin Day would not be, well, Sarah Palin Day without input from Brianus. It was, after all, his idea. And now, with his permission, I am posting his comments below in total:
FIRST ANNUAL SARAH PALIN DAY (and Happy Twenty-First Anniversary, Todd and Sarah!)
Dear Friends of Sarah,
At the stroke of midnight, I made a $29 contribution to SarahPac, in honor of the day, 29 August, 2008, that REAL hope was born for America. I know that many of us have contributed greater sums to Sarah in the past; still, I invite all my friends at C4P to make a $29 contribution to her PAC on this glorious 29th. Here follows a brief attempt to capture, in the supple nets of our English tongue, some of what I feel about Sarah from Alaska, and what I remember from those fateful hours last year. My experiences were somewhat different from those of the privileged souls who shared the night of the 28th/29th on Adam Brickley's great site. I only discovered Adam's site after the 29th! God bless you all! (and I shall be celebrating the day with a goodly bottle of merlot: red wine for our Red-State Lady!)
Let us all consider where we stood as a nation on 28 August, 2008. Barack Hussein Obama had just delivered his acceptance address in Denver to the adoring accolades of a sycophantic and, yes, traitorous national media. The sounder, saner part of America, with open eyes, was well aware that, lurking behind the screen and smoke of the "anointed one's" pompous rhetorical flourish, stood a program, nay an entire philosophy, that was the antithesis of what the United States of America stands for. But, what could we do? Did John McCain stand any chance of derailing the thundering juggernaut of Obama's DC express? Hardly!!
We knew, with our minds and in our guts, that we opposed, nay more, loathed everything Obama represented and advocated. However, his success seemed both preordained and inevitable. This is, indeed, what our enemies intended. In a perfect Orwellian convolution of language and concepts, the mantra of "hope" that was the standard and banner of Obama's campaign was calculated, with lethal precision, to, in fact, engender hopelessness and despair in that part of the American people who still "clung bitterly" to our Constitution and our traditions. So the dark night of 28 August passed into the cold and seemingly cheerless dawn of that fateful day for our country, 29 August, 2008.
At about 5:30am Pacific Time, as I recall, Fox News posted the announcement that Senator McCain had chosen the Governor of Alaska, the Honorable Sarah Palin, as his vice-presidential running mate. I know that a true thrill, not the puerile tickling that has made a certain Christopher Matthews notorious for all time, but a true thrill, ran up, not my leg, but into my mind and spirit and soul when I heard the news. In the midst of the profound, inky darkness of the past many months, a little scintilla and spark of hope, of courage, of light was struck.
A few hours later, John McCain made his selection official in Dayton, Ohio, a name and town that will always evoke and stir in me sentiments of grace and gratitude. Then Sarah walked in. Even before she uttered a word, even before I got a clear view of her incomparable, diaphanous eyes, mirrors of and witnesses to her soul's depth and power, that confident, fearless, straight, beautiful stride of hers, as she and her daughter Piper proceeded into the arena of battle to the stirring strains of the "Rudy" theme, awoke in my breast sentiments of hope, of devotion, of courage...of love.
Then she began to speak. I knew in that hour, in those moments, that God, in His mercy, had given us a champion, an incarnation of everything that was opposed to the dank, dark world of Barack Obama and his pitiful followers. Up to these moments, we had all known what our ideals were what we stood for. But those ideals and aspirations had remained locked and frozen in the true and certain, but still cold, concepts of our philosophy. Champions we had had in the past, like the Founders, like Lincoln, like Reagan. But they, great men all, were gone to the Valhalla of heroes. A living, breathing leader we had not...until those moments!!
I think all of us sensed, from the first instants of Sarah's Dayton speech, that the real battle lines had been drawn: it was Our Sarah vs. Obama. Yes, the campaign buttons and bumper stickers read, "McCain-Palin"; yes, McCain, not Sarah, debated Obama; yes, Sarah debated, not the "messiah," but the woeful, risible Joe Biden. Still, we all perceived where the heart of the war was...as did our deadly, merciless foes. Well they knew that they must crush and extinguish this bright and lovely flame before the American people could come to know her...and to love her.
So, for the following 120 hours they threw everything they had in their arsenal of lies and of hatred at her. Desperately they tried to prevent her from addressing the American people. By God's grace, by McCain's steadiness, by Sarah's unflinching, unfailing courage, they did not succeed. Sarah sallied forth at the RNC...and this unknown, seemingly novice politician from the North Country delivered one of the greatest political speeches in the annals of our nation. As one political pundit said to Todd Palin that evening, "America fell in love with your wife tonight."
In the days that followed, Sarah's splendid oration served to drag the stumbling McCain into his only lead in the polls. We all know what followed: the Gibson and Couric interviews, not Sarah's finest moments, but made, by a hostile and mendacious media, to seem far worse than they really were; the almost criminal misuse of Sarah's talents by the McCain campaign; the financial meltdown, Tina Fey, etc.
Yes, we lost the battle in the short run. Sarah, with a beautiful, eloquent silence (a silence imposed on her, as a final insult, by the McCain handlers) conceded defeat on that doleful evening of 4 November, 2008. However, I am convinced; I know that the campaign to save America, which began on Sarah Palin Day, will be carried to glorious triumph. We shall win the war...with her!
Let me finish by recalling a few words, beautiful, I believe, in their simple splendor, which were uttered by one of the few real TV journalists left in America, the honorable Brit Hume, on the night of Sarah's RNC speech. As our Lady of the North ventured forth into the cauldron and arena of conflict that night, Hume, who after the speech would laud Sarah's remarkable courage and poise, said, "And now here comes Sarah Palin."
My friends, these words, and the memory of the great, fearless, gentle heart of this lion of a little lady from the "Arctoan" State, will live always on the parchment and roll of my reminiscences.
"And now here comes Sarah Palin."
Against the whole weight and force and might of the American left, nay the International Left (dare I say, the Comintern), on 3 September, 2008, she came, she spoke, she conquered.
"And now here comes Sarah Palin."
With truth as her buckler and shield, she has survived all of the filthy attempts of the lying, godless hosts of the left to portray her as someone she is not. The verily royal battle flag and standard of Our Sarah is "still there," even after a night, yea many, many nights of relentless bombardment. See, we behold it and descry it in the "dawn's early light"!!!
"And now here comes Sarah Palin."
Brave, beautiful, Sarah!!!--From your friends at C4P, if you should happen to see this, we love you, we believe in you, we stand ready to follow you, whatever you decide to do, with full hearts and mighty hands to victory...victory for our beloved country. Happy Anniversary, and God bless you and your family always!!

Very well written. I believe you've said the story of most of Sarah's "lovers".
A beautiful article. Thank you for supporting Sarah.
Brianus,
Thank you for your wonderful, inspirational post. I knew you would come through on this day, and you didn't disappoint!:)
I loved how you used: "And now here comes Sarah Palin"! Excellent word picture of exactly what happened for that night, for the campaign, and for history.
Happy Sarah Palin Day, everyone!
New Oxford,
Thank you and God bless!!

Thank you so much, you have inspired me. Off I go to send $29 to Sarahpac. God Bless this wonderful lady and God Bless our Country.

Sarah Palin has the spark of life that only comes from one place.
She is full of life, yet the women on the left are just full of it.
Sarah makes me laugh. A lot. I mean to say she brings out the joy in me.
My Dear Nancy,
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Are we not truly blest/blessed to be living in these times...hideous as they may sometimes seem!?! Verily, as the great author said, "the best of times; the worst of times." YOUR posts, so replete with humor and wisdom, have helped sustain me in these days and months.
God bless!!

Brianus
Thank you Brianus...you captured the essence of what we felt beautifully.
I don't ever idolize human beings because all my faith, trust and hope is in God and Jesus His Son. Last year I was in Palm Desert with my family, just sick about Barack Obama, and had refused to watch his acceptance speech the night before(there is just so much one can endure). I was watching Fox news that morning and McCain was about to announce his running mate. I was barely interested because, sorry, McCain to me was not a conservative and had done nothing to counter Obama. Then he announced Sarah Palin and when she came onto that stage I honestly felt that God had answered my prayers for a Godly leader. I don't know how I knew that but I have yet to be proven wrong. I know that it is right to support her. Nothing I've seen from her contradicts my belief that she is truely a human who is willing to be God's servant. I pray for her because the evidence that evil people are pursuing her is overwhelming. I admire her strenght, her faith, conviction, integrity, ethics, and so much more.
God bless and protect Sarah Palin and her family in whatever she decides to do.
I've been one of those who said Our Sarah should not run in 2012 because the PTB (power that be) would destroy her. A President Sarah Palin would be subjected to continuous criminal complaints & special prosecutors. But I've changed by tune. Obama is taking us towards fascism so fast that Our Sarah MUST run in 2012 in order to save the nation.
Our Sarah is going to literally save America. The battle will be fierce and probably even bloody. But, God willing, she & we will prevail and a "Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth."
Brianus,
Thank you for your heartfelt post. Ihave never teared up in reading blog post before, but this post awakened that same feeling of hope and pride that I first felt August 29, 2008. Your blog post will go down in C4P history as the Loyal Barbarian's finest. Thank you.
Happy Anniversary Sarah and Todd. May this day bring you all the love and blessings you deserve.
Brianus,
Yes, we are so, so blessed to live in these incredible times.
I also feel so very blessed to be able to come to C4P and read your thoughts, written with passion and insightfulness. God bless you and your family, Brianus. Your talents shine through here at C4P.
What are you drinking? [From the Comments thread of 24 August... take your pick]
“Palin syrah; white Zinfandel; homemade mango juice; Napa, Sonoma, or Russian River Valley Cabernet; chardonnay; ice cold beer; a nice bottle of merlot; strawberry margharita; Diet Coke; really cold Bud Light; skinny white chocolate mocha (The Sarah); a keg of something domestic; Kahlua and cream; a bottle of cabernet; rot-gut whiskey; a Shirley Temple with a splash of orange juice; Diet Dr Pepper; a fresh Peach Daiquiri; a Pina Colada; a Miller Light in the backyard for me; I’ll be drinking a fine merlot that day……”
I totally love this site!!!
Happy, Happy Day!
What a perfect testimony to our thoughts and feelings one year ago. Thank you Brian and C4P!
I had learned about Sarah from Adam's site and I was so hoping McCain would pick her. I was watching Fox when the buzz began (I slept little then) and my family and I hooted and hollared when she came out. Such joy!
My thoughts regarding this past year have remained hopeful despite the grim statistics. I think of God's Plan and how it is always so much better than we could ever imagine. The sweetest surprises can rejuvenate our souls and restore the wonder and excitement we seem to lose the longer we are on this earth. God is good!
I'm off to happily add my $29 to the SarahPAC coffers!
A year ago I was sitting in my room cheering and clapping. I yelled to my wife in the other room, "TURN ON FOX NEWS RIGHT NOW!!"
I was listening to the audio of the speech on Rush's radio show. Rush commented, "Guns. Babies. Jesus. Hot damn!" At the end of the speech Rush said, "They are going to destroy her."
Just gave $29 to SarahPAC.
Brianus,
Wonderful post sir. You have long been an inspiration for Sarah's fans. Thanks for your dedication and your ability to inspire.
God bless
CCRWM and rae4LOTUS,
Thanks...yes, we must be prepared to fight this good fight even to the shedding of blood. I think that the recent deaths of both my mother (relatively young) and my YOUNGER brother (way too young) have taught me a certain fearlessness. Let the left bring all that they can...we will triumph!!
Brianus
Sent my Happy Sarah Palin Day $$, and will be drinking Mt. Dew, and watching one of my daughters play roller hockey. I've already watched her Dayton, Ohio speech, am halfway through her RNC speech, and then on to her Right To Life speech, some Sarah Palin videos mixed in there. Plus, plenty of time spent with my friends at C4P.
What a great day!
kjanlady, Nancy (again), Juanita, and my old friend manajordan,
Thank you...but, above all, thanks to the Lord and to Sarah.
Please be assured of my prayers...always!!
Brianus
Dear Nancy,
Yes, yes, yes!!! How I love to watch...and savor, over and over again, the speeches of 29 August and 3 September. They never tire...nay, they grow in power and force and beauty with each viewing!!
Brianus
Brianus,
Thanks, you nailed it for Sarah as usual
What a blessed time and Lady we have in Gov. Palin; what hope we share with one another here at C4P.
We are fortunate!
Brianus,
I just made my contribution.
"The world is full of tribulations but take courage, I have overcome the world." John 16:31
Thank God for your gift in words and your appreciation of the English language.
After yardwork, I shall select a good zinfandel, a nice cigar, a quiet place and contemplate the battles ahead and the quality of ordinary barbarians who are comrades in arms.
Also, Go Bears!
OldDude and an Old Blue
Brianus,
I’ll be having chardonnay. My favorite chardonnay is St. Francis.
http://www.stfranciswine.com/
I usually buy quite a bit each year then store it for a couple years so that we have some older vintages for special occasions. Now the wine shops only have 2006 available. I had a few 2004 bottles set aside for my wedding anniversary which occurred June 30th. I still have one of those left. That is what I'll be having tonight. I just checked and it appears to be properly chilled. I have several 2005's set aside for next June 30, my 20th anniversary.
I also like red wine, cabernet sauvignon being my favorite. But red never tastes as good to me in the summer. I do have a nice stock for the upcoming winter though!
Great Britain was saved from the abyss by Dame Thatcher. Lead on, Dame Sarah.
Brianus...my condolences for your losses...
Jesus said those of us who will try to save our lives will lose them and those of us willing to lose our lives will save them. He was taking about our battle against evil...so I'm with you!
Thaks guys for he links I'm enjoying going back and reviewing this past year of Sarah!
Branius...Excellent...
I look back and can remember memorable events that have happen through out my life...Some events were in my personal life...others were world events...
On those events that stood out...I always picture where I was...
When our US hockey team won the gold metal...when Elvis died...When JFK died...
The earth quake that devastated CA...
9-11-2001...etc..
The point I'm trying to make is... Just real special events I remember where I was..
Like when Sarah Palin was introduced to the World...
A very memorable Day indeed...A Blessed day...A Conservative Day...A, I love America Day...A future of not hope and change...but the...
American Dream Day...
Bestbud and OldDude,
Thanks!!!
Old Dude...GO BEARS!!! It is a great grief of my life that my late younger bro will not be around to enjoy the next Cal appearance in the Rose Bowl. My late dad (Navy vet: USS Hornet) got to go to three Rose Bowls with his buddies in the 50's...even though Cal lost all three. Anyway, if Tedford's guys can do it in the next couple of years, I know my brother will enjoy it...from Heaven!!
Brianus
Brianus,
I was crying reading your post--desperately tried to hide it from hubby seating close by ha! ha!
Beautiful piece- and it captures a lot of the emotions that The Lady from The North evoke in me.
Because I love this country. I want it for my kids...
God bless her and keep her srong- she will need it. I'm sure she already knows this-- but it bears repeating, she needs help, and we are here to help her too. She need not carry the load of hope for a whole nation by herself...KNOW we are here. Pls. pass on the message, especially on this day.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Just sent 29th day/$29 contributions, one for me and one for my wife to SarahPac.
Happy Anniversary everyone! Hope abounds and a major reason is our Honorable Gov. Sarah Palin!
Here's to Sarah and Family... God Bless You-all.
Brianus...sorry..I missed spelled your
name..My Bad..
Happy Anniversary Sarah & Todd
Happy Sarah Palin Day to all

myrnamcc: thank you, and God bless!!
Mia: no problem!
Brianus
terri,
Thank you so much!! Please, just PRAY for me!
Brianus
Brianus, your unabashed enthusiasm is infectious. Cheers. :)
A stirring post, Brian and straight from the heart. I shall raise a pint glass of Shepherd Neame "Spitfire" bitter later today to Governor Palin and her family. Quite appropriate really when you realise that in a few days time here in the UK we shall be remembering those sunny August/September days of 1940 when a handful of young men in their Spitfires and Hurricanes held the might of the German Luftwaffe at bay in a ferocious act of defiance against the legions of evil.
Brianus, beautiful, just beautiful! Happy 21st Sarah and Todd.
Brianus, you said: "the almost criminal misuse of Sarah's talents by the McCain campaign"... And I would add a thought.
"Sarah was chosen because she was an unknown, unheard of person. She was chosen because the powers that be had decided that obama was going to win. When I say, "the powers that be" I am refering to the Socialist Party Democrats and the RINO's that run congress."
You see, Sarah upset the apple cart. McCain had to defend obama because he had to win. McCain and his handlers had to help make Sarah look bad because "America loved her" and THAT wasn't supposed to happen. Why do the RINO's dislike Sarah so much? They are in collusion with the Democrats to help with the Socialist agenda. To keep themselves in power for the rest of their un-natural lives.
Anyway, Happy Sarah Palin Day everyone... and God Bless
Brianus,
Thank you so much for your eloquence in sharing what so many of us felt and continue to feel.
I've probably shared pieces of my sentiments a few time since beginning to comment on C4P late this past spring, but as it is Sarah Palin Day, I'm going to share again.:)
I remember sitting in my office as a reluctant Republican a year ago today, fully expecting McCain to select Pawlenty or Romney as his vice president. Then, my co-worker told me that McCain had chosen, Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska! Honestly, at the time, I didn't follow politics all that closely, so I didn't know who she was. But, after work that day, I went home and tried to find out more about Gov. Palin. To be honest, at first, her appeal was simply that she was a woman, a Christian, a former high school point guard, a runner, and a flutist. That was me, too!:)
Then, I saw her RNC speech and was completely blown away!I began to research her record and what she stood for, and I was even more impressed!Hearing her common sense conservatism and simple message of the self-determination of the American people transformed me from a reluctant Republican to a charged up conservative! I have not looked back since then!
I don't want to put Gov. Sarah on a pedestal. She has made mistakes and will make mistakes. I don't agree with everything she does or believes. However, I will say that she is the epitome of an American. She came from humble beginnings, worked hard, and stands firmly on her principles. She believes that America's greatest strength and her exceptionalism lie in her people not in her government. When you find somebody in government who believes that, you can't help but stand with them.
P.S. The LOTUS told me that she calls today, "Re-birth of conservatism" Day!
http://thelotuslaptopoftheunitedstates.blogspot.com/2009/08/o-happy-day.html
wisetrog,
Thank you, thank you!!!
David,
Yes, I am raising my glass RIGHT NOW to the IMMORTAL WARRIORS OF THE AIR, the deathless stalwarts of your RAF, who folowed Sir Winston: We shall never surrender!!
God bless,
Brianus
Brainus...what an article! I have just read it on my blackberry. Tears just started running down my cheeks...tears of joy for what Sarah Palin stands for. I am man and my males friends could not understand why I was crying...I told them that this day is VERY special. Someday they will fully understand.
Poppycock?..love that word...:-)
http://tiny.cc/4LZ5C
"4) MSNBC's Morning Joe Scarborough suggested that Sarah Palin needed to "read more books" so upset was the network's token "conservative" at her "death panel" attack against ObamaCare. Maybe Joe needs to read the bills Congress writes. Palin nailed the Achilles heel of the House bill in a politically brilliant way just before the revelation about the "Death Book" that Obama's Veteran's Administration revived.
Joe looks silly jumping on the Palin is a dolt canard, but so does Charles Krauthammer who also regularly joins in the Palin needs to "bone up" on issues bandwagon.
Poppycock!
Krauthammer recently wrote a column that denounces Palin on "death panels" in the first few paragraphs and then affirms the construction in the bulk of the column.
Charles and Joe are more concerned with being liked by the DC cocktail circuit than the whole truth at times. maybe they need to bone up on character and the availability of cocktails outside Georgetown and read more books on travel in flyover country."
William Henley,
Thank you for this post, and for your insights in previous posts!!
Whitney,
Thank you!!--I am praying especially for you and for Jane Austen: young people like the two of you give me real HOPE for the future of our country!!
Brianus
Izzy,
Thank you!!! My late dad (Navy vet) and late younger bro (great guy---and never lost a fist fight, as far as I know), both had the gift of TEARS. Real guys can...and DO, cry!!

I just donated to SarahPac. Happy Anniversary Sarah!
Brianus, love your posts.
A year ago my wife came into my office and said McCain had selected Sarah Palin, I replied who's that. She said I don't know but she is hopefully a BELIEVER with a biblical name like Sarah. So thanks also to her parents for raising such a magnificent daughter.
Just finished donating my $29.29
Great and thoughtful article.
I sent my $29.00.
Karen Allen, Joan, and multipath,
Thank you!!
multipath, I love the extra twenty-nine cents. Perhaps they were an Alaskan quarter and four Abe Lincoln pennies!!
Brianus
Chesley,
Thank you!!
Brianus
@Brianus: Thanks for another wonderful post. 29 bucks to SarahPac at your behest
@Greg: Thanks for the links to the pics. Methinks after 8 months of obama a rally by Sarah now would blow the lid off of washington.
Karen Allen @ 1:38
That remix was great!
For those of you who want to watch Sarah's August 29th speech again, but don't want to spend the time waiting for the youtube video to load, listening to McCain's lengthy introduction, and the frequent applause, this video is for you.
Karen captured a lot of the highlights of Sarah's speech and it loaded quickly.

Eddie Burke just posted great article about when he first met Sarah Palin!
This is a fun read!

Red State also has a good article up...

Panchita,
Thanks...and thanks for the wonderful word "behest." For all of my perhaps :-) overzealous acts of promotion of Latin (and Greek) on this site, I still love those Old English/Anglo-Saxon words.
God bless!!
Brianus (Long live English!!)
Brianus-
I cannot of course donate to SarahPAC, but I want every person here to know that my friends, who do not believe in her, will here more than a mouthful this year more than ever. I. WILL. MAKE. SURE. OF. THAT.
I turn 18 in a couple of years, just in time for 2012. I WILL HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE. I WILL NOT SEE OUR COUNTRY DESTROYED. THAT'S NOT WHAT I LEARNED IN HISTORY.
GOD BLESS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOD BLESS SARAH PALIN AND FAMILY!
-Jane
Jane Austen-
I donated an extra $29 for you today. Some of Sarah's greatest power will come from the young women that she is inspiring. Those young women will not only be ready to vote if she needs them in 2012, but they will be empowered and informed to carry the cause of conservatism long after she is gone.
Brainus: De nada my friend. Your post gives voice to those of us with brutish prose.
defendAmerica-
Thank you thank you thank you! You didn't have to do that, but yet you went and did it anyways. I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!! <3 x2012

Happy Sarah Palin Day and Happy Anniversary to Todd and Sarah! I just made my $29 donation.
I was thinking further about the “scheduling” stuff and the PAC issues with FEC. Sarah could try to defend each of these as they come up, but you notice she hasn’t much. One could spend time defending each item that comes up – or attack the main problem. I seem to recall that we have had several posts this month about a George Patton quote, “Nobody ever got anywhere defending anything.” I think she has taken that approach. For instance, all her Facebook notes were attacks. Perhaps she will do the same with this other stuff, or maybe she has already started.
In the last year for a program on TV to get a “Palin boost” in the ratings, she had to be there in person, or a significant story about her. That changed on Wednesday, August 26. She just told folks to watch Glenn Beck without any hint she would be there or even talked about. Boom! A show already getting great ratings got the afterburner kicked in! Of course the other cable news channels suffered.
Sarah had warned the MSM in her Farewell Speech, they didn’t listen. So, on Wednesday she fired the opening round in her attack on MSM. (All you have to do to understand Sarah is listen to exactly what she says.)
The attack was two-pronged.
1. MSM: She showed them she can hasten their demise – with a flick of her little mouse!
2. Advertisers: If they abandon Glenn Beck and FOX News for other cable news, they will have a small audience for their advertising dollars!
As Paul Harvey used to say, “Good day!”
Bravo Brianus, beautifully done! Thanks to all who posted links to videos. Sarah inspires and gives me hope. C4P is a bright spot in my day.

I love many contributers to this website - I don't want to name names because I just don't want to leave anyone out. I will single you out however. This was such an eloquant tribute to the lady we are celebrating today. Like others have said, it brought tears to my eyes.
By the way, I loved having to look up a couple of words in the dictionary just to know exactly how you were describing Sarah. I had to look up "diaphanous" and "Comintern".
The great thing about that is that from now on, the word "diaphanous" will always remind me of Sarah's eyes and what lies behind - her soul.
Thanks again Brianus.
Made my donation on honor of Aug 29, 2008, what a yr, and Sarah can turn things around, if the Rep get off their RINO principles and back each other, lets get this country back!
Sarah 2012!
Jane,
I love your posts and your fighting spirit. Keep it up!!!
Panchita,
Muchissimas gracias!! I hope I spelled that correctly. My sister, who is a professional English-Spanish interpreter, could correct it, if necessary!
Pat in NC,
Thanks!! I met three wonderful North Carolinian patriots, Sarah supporters, on my train trip to NY last fall to see Yankee Stadium before its demise!
God bless you all!!

Happy Sarah Palin Day!
I made a $29 donation to SarahPAC today in her honor. Great idea!
I began to think about how the first President I remember is Jimmy Carter. Then, I realized that the first President my daughter may well remember is Barack Obama. Oh dear.
So, I went back to SarahPAC and made another $29 donation on behalf of my little girl.
Thank you, Mrs. Palin and C4P. Here's to another bright morning in America!
TSM Admin,
That was brilliant! Great comment!
George A,
Thanks and GOD BLESS!!!
Ceejay,
I LOVE how you end most/all of your posts: "Sarah 2012!!"

Can this article be posted on or linked to Governor Palin's facebook page? Thank you conservatives4palin for all you do.
$29 sent!
Sarah will be a two-term POTUS if she decides to run, or will lead the effort to stop Obama and make sure he is a one-termer.
August 29, 2008 was the rebirth of Conservatism in America.
This is interesting...
http://tiny.cc/5NZ56
Of course the running joke over at FR is...
"Why don’t they do what everyone else is doing. Just say that Sarah Palin will be there.".....lol
Young women represent one area where I feel like MSM totally underestimates Sarah Palin. She doesn't always poll well with women in general at the moment.
I would argue that it partly because she represents missed opportunities to them. Some were born in a generation where being a successful with a woman simply wasn't an option.
Others felt limited by circumstances or by those around them. They didn't come from the best neighborhoods or couldn't afford to attend the best schools and they bought into the lie that somehow their voice counted less. They married young or had children to raise and struggled to balance responsibilities.
But to the generation of young women whose votes don't yet count, Sarah breaks that barrier and she inspires them.
Have you been to an event where Sarah is? Have you seen the young girls with their t-shirts and signs? Never before have I seen a politician who has been able to capture the heart of children.
These girls now get to grow up in a world where success is possible, no matter your circumstances. If you work hard and keep focused you can achieve. In America, EVERY voice counts.
When these young women finally reach voting age, they are going to be a force to be reckoned with. And I have a feeling that over the years, our Sarah, is going to poll better and better among the women of our country :)
Happy Anniversary, Todd and Sarah.
The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make his face shine upon you and Be gracious to you;
The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

I made another donation as well. I know this is kinda OT but, I went to Sarah's facebook page, and I cant post anything on her wall, what gives? Is anyone else having this issue. Did someone block me from posting messages there? Very strange as I was able to do so yesterday. I wanted to post a video someone posted on newsbusters where Obama said in 2006 that:
Combining Private and Public Health Insurance 'Worst of Both Worlds'
But I can't post on her wall
Brianus:
Another eloquent masterpiece. You are a gifted writer, my friend.
I, too, was thinking about that morning of August 29. As I ate breakfast, I watched Andrea Mitchell and (I think) Howard Fineman, guests on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" in Denver, as part of the morning-after wrapup of the Democratic national convention. All they could talk about -- rather than Obama's soaring rhetoric from the previous night -- was who would be picked by John McCain to be his V-P nominee. No one had a clue, and they acted insulted that it was still a secret.
The reporters were on their Blackberries even during the telecast, checking on the whereabouts of Romney, Lieberman, Ridge, Pawlenty, etc. Finally, someone mentioned the Alaska governor -- Joe Scarborough mispronounced her name as "POWL-in."
But they quickly learned she was scheduled to be at the Alaska State Fair that morning for the unveiling of an Alaska commemorative coin although there was a rumor that a private plane had left Anchorage during the night and had flown to central Ohio. But the rumors were discounted as not credible. By then, Andrea Mitchell and the others were almost frantic. How could John McCain keep a secret from them? They were, after all, the NEWS MEDIA!
Later in the morning, when the Associated Press revealed that it really was going to be Governor Palin, I went to my computer and looked up everything I could find about her because, frankly, I had never heard of Sarah Palin. After nearly two hours of reading, I thought, "Wow. This lady has really accomplished a lot in a short time -- without being part of a wealthy, influential family and without much help from her own political party. She was different than a normal politician, she was authentic!
Of course, the Dayton introduction of Palin and her family more than lived up to what I had just read. I immediately called my brother in Texas and explained my gut instincts on Sarah Palin, concluding: "I don't know whether this lady can save John McCain's rear end, but I guarantee the next two months are going to be much more interesting than we thought they would be. Regardless of whether McCain wins, I think we have a new player on the national Republican scene."
In tribute to Sarah Palin Day and to the wedding anniversary of Todd and Sarah, I found the comment I had posted in March on the thread of Rebecca Mansour's wonderful piece, "Who is Sarah Palin?", here at C4P. The comment is printed below:
* * * * * * * *
"I have been trying to figure out why I have felt the way I do ever since Governor Palin burst on the national scene August 29. After researching her background that morning and then listening to her impressive remarks in Dayton, I was smitten. Then six days later came the blockbuster RNC speech, and I was really hooked.
"Perhaps I felt a connection because I, too, grew up in a small town (in central Kansas), went to a state university and majored in journalism. Or perhaps she reminds me of that girl I went to grade school and high school with, the one from down the street who was rather shy but smart and determined and, yes, had a glow about her. Somehow you knew she was destined for something special, but you had no idea what it would be (nor did she).
"And then one day, you look up and there she is...... running for Vice President of the United States.
"You are so proud because she is authentic, she is 'one of us' and she did it all on her own. Even though she now is the governor of the largest state in the Union, you feel protective of her, just as if she were still the neighbor girl down the street.
"For me, Rebecca, your wonderful writing and blending of observations on C4P captured the essence of what it is about Sarah Palin -- beyond political philosophy -- that draws us to her."

Personally, I call it the 2nd annual Sarah Palin day; the first being her literal politic-birthday celebration
at the RNC. This is the SECOND time she's been in this same conjunction with the Sun and other celestial
bodies.
CruelaDev, thank you!!
Wilsonpickett, my friend, thank you. Yes, RAM, eloquent RAM, is an inspiration to all of us!!

Brianus,
Thank you for your gift of writing!!!
When I read your comments regarding Sarah Palin, I feel it echoes the feelings the Apostle Paul might have had when he wrote to the various Churches and his fellow co-workers in the Gospel.
Thank you for using your gift of writing for the good of all!!
Off to Donate $29 to the SARAHPACATTACK!!!! :-)
What a brilliant article! It brought back to me the feelings I felt the day Sarah Palin stepped on that stage in Dayton and spoke for the first time. The far-left, with all their hatred, insults, lies and vitriol, have only made Sarah stronger. And still they're too stupid to realize that. I've already donated my $29 to SarahPac today, and when I go to church in a little while I will mention Sarah and the Palin family in my prayers.
Lake, I have been blocked from posting for awhile and don't know why.
I tried a new ID and still can't leave a comment.
It is driving me crazy.
Brianus, Thank you for your great article.
Wishing Sarah and Todd the best on their 21st wedding anniversary
Happy Sarah Palin Day!
Two new posts for this special day! One will be posted ASAP (as soon as my computer works)
-Jane
Thanks BettyJo for the "retweet" of the video remix!! :))
Gov. Palin's speech that day was so inspiring...cold, clear water on a dry and dusty political road.
The election season was so depressing...until then. And the newfound joy ain't over. ;)
Brianus,
A masterpiece, my friend. I've printed it out and will pass around to my partygoers. You've so eloquently captured what all of us were feeling a year ago.
I was working in my office, listening to talk radio, which is what I do pretty much all day long, when I heard that McCain had picked Gov. Palin. I knew of her and liked what I had heard, but didn't know much more, turned on the TV (for when I really get bored) and was smitten from that moment on. Rush was doing a running commentary during her speech and he was just giddy with delight and I'll never forget the last thing he said when she finished, "I want to see her grow old in office."
Well, the Alaska salmon is marinating, I've already been into my keg of Coors Light (made by good Western conservatives) -- had to make sure it was ok. Got the cake from the bakery, and am resplendent in my Wasilla Basketball shirt.
I, too, have made my $29 contribution to SarahPAC, and will give my guests an opportunity to do likewise.
May history mark this as the day conservatism began to take the country back.
Have a gangbusters of a Sarah day, good buddies.
New video in honor of today- "Keep it Real". New post as well. Please visit and please comment!!!
Again, Brianus, you definitely have a way with words! I'm hoping to be a writer one day if the whole politics thing doesn't work out ;)
Here's my virtual Sarah Palin shirley temple! Cheers! ***clangs glass against virtual merlot***
-Jane
Brianus,
If you're still on this thread, it is now 6:00 PM eastern and I'm about to introduce my bottle of St. Francis to my Rogar Champion (wine opener). Cheers!
Doug-
Here's my Sarah Palin shirley temple! Cheers to you too! ***clangs glass against virtual wine galss***

Again, Happy Sarah Palin Day, good friends!
So sorry I was otherwise obligated and am only now getting to this great thread.
But my $29 went to SarahPAC well before 8 AM eastern.
Brianus - simply magnificent!
The power of the written word.
Rich - a Sonoma Cabernet. Sipping it now.
Can't wait to see the photos and videos posted above. Thanks, folks!
Happy Anniversay, Todd & Sarah! May God grant you many more.
And I shall celebrate with some of my favorite videos, including "America" (thanks again, Irma / LoveThatGirl!), "Halo" (thanks, Vid Sweet!), "The World's Greatest" (thanks, Seth!), and others.
Now, I must know one other thing:
Shall we not do it all again on 9/3 in honor of Sarah's RNC acceptance speech?!!
"Isn't she lovely....Isn't she wonderful!"
I thank God for the heart and soul of Sarah America Palin.
Jane - I saw your first video last evening. Well done. Left comments there; hopefully they stuck.
Book report due Monday.
: )
Brianus,
Well, the yardwork is finished and it's time to mellow out. I suppose Doug has finished his chardonnay and your merlot has met its match!
I'm sipping a delta region zinfandel (love to buy local), about to light up a Romeo y Julieta churchill, and begin barbecuing some chicken--that's my kind of multitasking environment.
I visited the Hornet a couple of years ago--what a splendid ship with such a rich history. My dad was on the Nevada, the only battleship to get underway at Pearl Harbor. God bless the warriors who have kept us free!!
If your dad hit the Rose Bowls in the '50's, then he saw Joe Kapp as qb and later coach of "The Play." I hope he and your brother see another Rose Bowl soon--they've got the best seats in the House!
Again, God bless you and all the barbarians and may He keep Sarah protected in His loving arms.
Raising my second Mt. Dew to all the ordinary barbarians out there! And listening to "Barracuda".
Excellent day!
Happy Anniversary Sarah & Todd!
Happy Sarah Palin Day all! I contributed my $29, too!
I donated $29 today. Happy Sarah Palin Day, everyone!! And Happy Anniversary to Todd & Sarah if they're reading this. :)
M. Minnesota, McKenz59, JeanA, Bean Counter, Jane, and CharterOakie,
Thank you for your kind words! I too love wild Alaskan salmon...and I've got my merlot in my hand. Yes, let's do this again on 3 September!
Doug,
I was away for awhile, but, cheers!!
OldDude,
Thanks for your remarks re the USS Hornet...and our Bears!!! Yes, my dad and brother will indeed have the best seats in the house when Cal goes again to Pasadena!
Brianus
“Mind the GAP” is the announcement that reminds passengers in the London underground when the train rolls into the platform to be aware of the Gap between the platform and the station.
Here comes Sarah Palin….. “Mind the GOP”!
Brianus
Thank you for this wonderful post.
Sheya,
You are most welcome. Happy Sarah Palin Day!!
Brianus
Brianus,
It has indeed been a beautiful day!
I feel very fortunate to have found this site and to be sharing a virtual toast on a heretofore insignificant calendar date with so many incredible souls.
It is indeed difficult politically being here on the left coast (I'm about 50 miles from you) but hope springs eternal. Maybe one day we can share a toast in person for an even greater occasion.
As for those who wonder about Sarah's non appearance: take note of Techno's #7--The desire by Obama to infiltrate Sarah's organization and to discover what Sarah is up to and torpedo SP's political hopes and dreams from the inside and the need by Sarah to keep her inner circle limited to only those she can completely trust.
Besides, IT'S HER ANNIVERSARY...so lighten up.
I'm off on a work assignment until Thursday night but have printed out Techno's 10 words and intend to consider what I can do as an individual barbarian to counteract those concerns and mount a counter insurgency. I'll encourage all to do the same. Who knows what will evolve since the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts.
Again, thanks to all of you for such great encouragement during the course of the day.
God Bless
ps. Brianus, Isn't the Rose Bowl the BCS championship game this year?
OldDude,
Yes the BCS Championship game is at the Rose Bowl Stadium this year. However, one of my late brother's best friends, a real sports expert, told me that there would be TWO January games in Pasadena for 2010: the "Rose Bowl," properly speaking, then the championship game. He usually knows what he is talking about; still, I have not looked into the matter myself. I hope this is so. I have always assumed, given the dark cloud that seems to follow the Bears wherever they go, that the year they finally won a sole Pac-10 championship, it would be the Rose Bowl's turn to host the championship game, and hence there would be no trip to Pasadena for Cal!!
I hope we can someday toast that trip to Pasadena.
God bless!!
Brianus
Of course, sweeter even than a toast for a Bears Rose Bowl would be...nay, WILL be, the toast that we will be able to drink on a certain Tuesday evening in November, 2012, when the word goes forth to the nation and to the world: Sarah Palin of Alaska has been elected President of the United States of America!!!
Brianus,
my dear friend,
I continue to learn who you are. Today I learnt that you are a gentleman. My wife is the queen of manners. She and I are so proud that you would stand here all day long in the virtual world and greet the well-wishers, one by one.
This is a day we may all be proud of the events of the last year.
I am certainly proud that you are here to stand shoulder to shoulder with us.
What a gentleman you are.
Gelston,
Thanks, dear friend, and God bless you and your wife.
I am not able to read/post on this splendid site nearly so often as I would wish to. Sometimes, I must be away for whole days. However, TODAY was very special. Even though I had to be away for a few hours, I wanted to be here, with my friends in Sarah, as much as possible.
God bless you always!!
Brianus
Amen, Gelston,
and to you and Brianus, a very good night. See you all again next Thursday. May you have a blessed Sabbath.
Just got in, and my donation was made! Love what you stand for Sarah!
Thanks, latinchic!!
OldDude,
A blessed Sabbath to you too. Go Bears...and Sarah Always!!!
