Krauthammer Tells Palin to "Leave the Room"

A bizarre article from Charles Krauthammer in today's Washington Post.

In the second sentence he trashes Palin:

We might start by asking Sarah Palin to leave the room. I've got nothing against her. She's a remarkable political talent. But there are no "death panels" in the Democratic health-care bills, and to say that there are is to debase the debate.

And by the third paragraph he is explaining that Obamacare will basically create a "death panel":

We also have to tell the defenders of the notorious Section 1233 of H.R. 3200 that it is not quite as benign as they pretend. To offer government reimbursement to any doctor who gives end-of-life counseling -- whether or not the patient asked for it -- is to create an incentive for such a chat.

What do you think such a chat would be like? Do you think the doctor will go on and on about the fantastic new million-dollar high-tech gizmo that can prolong the patient's otherwise hopeless condition for another six months? Or do you think he's going to talk about -- as the bill specifically spells out -- hospice care and palliative care and other ways of letting go of life?

I may be repeating myself on this, but Governor Palin never said that a specifically named "Death Panel" existed in Obamacare. She clearly made the point that such a government entity would be the natural result of a government run, rationed health care system. In fact, "Death Panels" appeared in quotations in her very first Facebook note on the subject, signifying that it was being used as a metaphor.

The Senate even went so far as to take out any language that could be remotely connected to a "death panel."

Just last night, on Special Report, Krauthammer basically repeated Palin's concerns over a federal government loan to a Brazilian state run oil company. However, Krauthammer never gave credit to Palin for pointing these concerns out.

I just don't understand the behavior of these so-called "intellectuals."

The Conservative Comeback has more here.

Dan Riehl's take.

And, what does "leave the room" mean, exactly?

JR,
I read that earlier today and had the same take as you. He tells Governor Palin to "leave the room" in the first paragraph, then spends the rest of his column supporting what she said. That was a real head scratcher. The only reason I can come up with for this irreconcilable column is that he is in the tank for Romney. Nothing else makes sense.

The other day on FOX.. he essentially said that Sarah was right...then a day later he said she was off base!...

Puma for Life August 21, 2009 11:39 AM

I was thinking how apparently these people are so literal in their thinking, that they can say there are no death panels because the words death panel do not appear in the bill. Are they really this stupid? Uh, well, yes, I guess.

What a sexist.

latinchic August 21, 2009 11:41 AM

"Leave the room" = "Sit down and shut up."

Not a chance, buddy.

McGruff August 21, 2009 11:43 AM

I like Charles except when it comes to his apparent Palin Derangement Syndrome. He actually reinforces her point by saying "To offer government reimbursement to any doctor who gives end-of-life counseling -- whether or not the patient asked for it -- is to create an incentive for such a chat."

Amanda K August 21, 2009 11:44 AM

Mr. Krauthammer, YOU'RE not the one causing President "I WON" to go all "wee-weed", are ya?

You are smart, no doubt, but Gov. Palin carries the banner. She's leading. She's affecting REAL change that benefits everyone. Join us in our fight or step to the side, sir.

Rachael August 21, 2009 11:44 AM

Will people ever learn that telling Sarah Palin to "leave the room" or "sit down and shut up" is like pouring gasoline on her fire?

Losers.

PhilipJames August 21, 2009 11:45 AM

I almost think he is a little jealous of the attention Sarah gets. Why did he even have to mention her in his column... unless he was doing what the liberals do in order to get anyone to read their dribble... which is to include the word Palin in the headline in order to generate the hits it brings...
could it be that because he thinks his intellect is so great, that he should be getting the attention to his pronouncements and not her??

PEC August 21, 2009 11:46 AM

He is scared that he will not get a double shot in his next Coacktail in Georgetown unless he blast Sarah.

Doug Brady August 21, 2009 11:46 AM

I just sent Krauthammer the following email:

Mr. Krauthammer,

Let me start by saying I usually enjoy reading your columns. However, today's was simply bizarre. You trash Governor Palin in the first paragraph before spending the rest of your column defending what she said. It was, to say the least, a head scratcher. If you're interested, here are two respectful critiques of your column.

I received the following form letter in response to my email to Krauthammer.

Thank you for your e-mail to Charles Krauthammer. You can be assured that your letter will be read. However, we receive hundreds of e-mails every day, and cannot guarantee that you will get a personal response.
If you wish, you can also submit your letter as a letter to the editor. The e-mail address for the Washington Post Letters to the Editor is letters@washpost.com. Alternatively, you can submit a letter to your local newspaper; in most cases, they publish an email or mail address on the opinion page, as well as on their website.
If you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you very much,

Heh. Perhaps Krauthammer can move to a padded one.

You can't tell someone to "leave the room" when you're on the outside looking in, and Krauthammer isn't exactly driving the Health Care debate.

Neo August 21, 2009 12:05 PM

I have a question for Charles _

What makes you think Sarah would even be in a room with you! She is smart enough to know when to avoid idiots!

LGS August 21, 2009 12:06 PM

Now I'm feeling conspiratorial....

Do all these "conservatives" bashing Palin endlessly even want to defeat Obamacare? Or are they really all on the same team?? Is the right/left debate by pundits and politicians just theatre for the masses??

What other logical answer is there for members of right constantly undermining the conservative message and/or shooting their own?

Thank God Gov. Sarah Palin isn't the type to raise the white flag.

Sarah -- Keep talking loud and clear!

CharterOakie August 21, 2009 12:06 PM

Doug - thanks. Would have done it myself, but can't keep up today.

Snowed in: Great! Yes, oval shaped would be just fine.

Krauthammer deserves this smackdown. But this doesn't deserve to be placed above Sarah's FB post today.

Editors: hope that after a bit you will move Sarah's post back to the top...where it belongs.
Thanks.

ellen August 21, 2009 12:07 PM

If you look closely at the article, at the end of the "leave the room sentence" it says, and go make me a sandwich, woman.

In all seriousness tho. Does Krauthammer not speak English? He didn't understand Palin's reasons for leaving office and he thinks she said the bill actually had death panels.

I used to appreciate Krauthammer. And I don't dislike him now because I disagree. I dislike him because he is twisting the truth and making things up.

Whitney The Pipsqueak August 21, 2009 12:08 PM

LGS August 21, 2009 12:15 PM

"I think Charles doesn't realize that the LOTUS is portable!" Lol

A. "Sit down and shut up."

PEC August 21, 2009 12:31 PM

The Jury Room picture says it all CK. Sarah isn't going anywhere. If you want to be in a room separate that Sarah then CK will need to leave the Health Care room.

Teresa August 21, 2009 12:39 PM

Krauthammer is acting like an egotistical know-it-all that seems like he doesn't want to give any credit to Palin, who just happens to be a woman. Maybe he's a little sexist? She points the same things out and he wants her to leave the room. I think the "intellectual" Krauthammer needs to go back to the library and study up on journalistic etiquette.

narciso August 21, 2009 12:41 PM

With this 'fully operational'
laptop, with bookmarks, she can be anywhere. That Norman Rockwell portrait does capture it exactly. I have a lot of respect for Krauthammer, which sadly I'm losing. If he had a substantive argument, that would be something else, but he comes along to her conclusion.

Nancy August 21, 2009 12:42 PM

Sarah Palin to all the RINOs, okay I'll leave the room, and slay the dragon, while you people sit around and talk about me. Don't expect me to come back and tell you when I have saved your RINO rearends.

Yogi41 August 21, 2009 12:42 PM

Haven't read the comments yet, so sorry if I'm repeating what someone already said.

By telling her to leave the room, he's telling the American people to leave the room. He wants to leave the debate and discourse to those in D.C.; you know, those who know better than "the little people".

You are a first rate snob, Mr. K. But I still respect his intellect.

Enoch August 21, 2009 12:43 PM

C4Per's, Krauthammer is just another in a list of "acceptable" conservative writers and commenters that will be called on to fall on their sword when it comes to Gov Palin. The elites are getting nervous with how effective the town halls and Gov Palin have been in derailing their agenda. Don't be supprised by this. There will be more to come, to try and head the conservative grassroots movement off. All designed to try and suck the wind out of the momentum we have built up. It's coming, because she is coming.

TangledThorns August 21, 2009 12:43 PM

Charles is a smart guy but he is a DC elite all the same. They don't get Sarah Palin.

PEC August 21, 2009 12:44 PM

I think Nancy originally posted this in ref. to the Rockwell Photo. I guess we can add Charles to the list.

Frustrated RINOs: "Can't ya see, little lady, you have to go to the center to get those independent voters! Join our big tent philosophy. Kay Bailey has had a long career in the Senate following this idea, don't ya wanna join such a fine, upstanding lady as she is? You're never gonna get far, peach blossom, with such stubborn, narrow principles and beliefs. You're too young to know how this process works, dolly, just be Democrat lite like us, who cares if you can't look yourself in the mirror or sleep at night."

Governor Palin: (Rolling her eyes), "Politically, speaking, if I die, I die."

Exasperated RINOs: "That's it? That's what your defense is? Well, I have never seen such a stubborn filly as this little gal."

PEC August 21, 2009 12:50 PM

enoch - I think you have a point. These people could care less about conservatism and grass roots they just want to be part of the Political Class. They fear that is Sarah gets in there they go to the side.

manajordan August 21, 2009 12:52 PM

Charles K. and so many of the 'elites' operate under a paradigm that says we are all either inferior or superior. When you believe that you spend all of your time trying to convince others and especially yourself that you are in fact superior.

Sarah Palin and so many common Americans operate under the paradigm that we are all equal, the most equal thing about us being that we are all imperfect. We also all just have different skills sets. When those skill sets are put to good use your ability to make a positive impact is increased exponentially. The fact that Sarah Palin uses her skills to truly effect change, while thinking of others and not just propping up herself, drives those superior/inferior thinkers batty.

Keep it up Sarah Palin. You've got a slew of wonderfully imperfect common Americans behind you, ready to use their skills to spread the message of freedom.

Folks why is Charles paying such attention to Sarah Palin. She is a spent force. PPP told us that yesterday with the poll results.

Mike Huckabee is a shoo-in for the nomination. Hail Huck should now be the motto of the GOP.

Why is there still so much discussion about a former governor of Alaska? This is ridiculous. Huckabee is the man of the hour. It's time for all Republicans to jump on the Huckster's bandwagon and sing Onward Christian Soldiers.

Please Charles stop attacking Sarah Palin. Who cares what she thinks? Pretty soon you might have us all believing that Sarah Palin does indeed have a future in national politics and perhaps that Huckabee might be a little overrated.

It's not possible, is it?

Wildman Bill August 21, 2009 12:58 PM

just the other day, krauthammer said what is going on with the townhall meetings was all wrong and then had to admit that there were shaping the debate in the country.

I wrote charles back and reference Pat Buchannans article today which really put things in perspective for me. Especially when he said this line.

"What if, in 2050, Palin and her husband are not here. And 42-year-old Trig, with Down syndrome, has been in an institution for years, and the cost of his care and that of hundreds of thousands like him with Down syndrome is draining the resources of the health care system?

Will there not be voices softly suggesting a quiet and merciful end? "

CK is a Romney fan and Romney has been completely marginalized this last month. CK is mad about that. Romney has been trying to reclaim his credibility by falsely claiming that his healthcare plan for Mass. was vetoed and that the state leg. overrode him implementing the failing parts of the legislation.

Hannity actually had Romney on his show letting Romney defend himself against the accusations. Romney's attitude was basically if the state leg. had listened to him, all would be good.

LMFAO, does Romney really think that his claims won't be discredited by those who worked on the health bill with him??? I can't believe Hannity let him on and let him get away with that crap.

DarkGravity August 21, 2009 1:41 PM

I like Krauthammer, but read the last two paragraphs of his piece- he makes Palin's point.

"So why get Medicare to pay the doctor to do the counseling? Because we know that if this white-coated authority whose chosen vocation is curing and healing is the one opening your mind to hospice and palliative care, we’ve nudged you ever so slightly toward letting go.

It’s not an outrage. It’s surely not a death panel. But it is subtle pressure applied by society through your doctor. And when you include it in a health-care reform whose major objective is to bend the cost curve downward, you have to be a fool or a knave to deny that it’s intended to gently point the patient in a certain direction, toward the corner of the sickroom where stands a ghostly figure, scythe in hand, offering release."

bpk1300 August 21, 2009 1:43 PM

This is from the American Thinker:

"You can tell the Democrats are in trouble when a naïve hockey mom from Alaska can appear out of nowhere and wrestle the entire Democratic Party to the ground. After all, when it comes to "death panels" for grandma you have the American people on one side and you have "comparative effectiveness research" professionals and rational ethicists on the other. How come Sarah Palin could see that and the intelligent President Obama could not."

"My Friends" I think the point has been made, Dr. Krauthammer, usually

From shmendrick at HA:

"...Palin used the term "death panels" correctly because that's what these bureaucratic bodies amount to. In fact they already exist in the government health care programs for those victims who are unlucky enough to be patients thereof. I'm speaking of the American Indians and the VA. It is a national disgrace that these folks are subject to what should rightly be described as death panels which are used to ration and deny life saving treatments. I know that these existing government health services ONLY EMPLOY THE DREGS OF THE MEDICAL PROFESSION INCLUDING DISBARRED DOCTORS WHO ARE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE AT THESE FACILITIES. This is because these medical facilities are on Federal property are not considered under the jurisdiction of the surrounding state where these "doctors" are no longer allowed to practice medicine. I know this because I am a retired doctor who did part of my training at a VA installation where such practices were routine and are probably still ongoing. Sarah speaks the truth and while it may be inconvenient for some, too bad. Go Sarah go. Soc Et Tuem."

More and more when I read Krauthammer lately, I find his analysis well-written, thoughtful, thought-provoking, and wrong.

This is yet another example.

Lately the only thing he and I agree on is that Congress will pass something this year that they'll be able to call "health care reform" and Obama will sign it.

I know what Im about to say is probably going to come across as an excuse for C. Krauthammer but hear me out....
It fits the Expression... "A SENIOR MONENT"... charles had one!... it's classic!...

You say something, knowing your age and the fact people discount older Folks opinions anyway, trying to be relevant and funny at the same time.... a deadly combination for age adjusted recall... the hole you dug has gotten measurable over you head in a flash.
To top it all off, the senior then goes on to say, as Krauthammer did, things in support of the the subject just maligned in "The Senior Moment'

The bottom line Charles is a talking head, and by title as such, he is required to TALK!

Mia August 21, 2009 2:48 PM

Agree with Yogi41...
YOU ROCK JR!!!

katiejane August 21, 2009 2:55 PM

Add me to the group that normally likes Krauthammer. But unfortunately he shares an affliction that many "pundits" do - they truely believe that normal people just aren't bright enough, educated enough or wise enough to understand all the details. We need to listen to them tell us "what to think" about complex issues. After all 0 THEY are the PROFESSIONAL talking heads and we're just amateurs. That applies to pundits on both sides of the aisle.

thirteen28 August 21, 2009 2:59 PM

My own take on Krauthammer here.

Needless to say, his record of late isn't that great.

PEC August 21, 2009 3:07 PM

I know there are tons of excuses but all of this is easy to see. There is a serious movement amongst the inside the beltway GOPers to solve their "Palin Problem". She is the Big Pink Elephant sitting right in the middle of the room that they all have to deal with. They want her gone so they tell her to leave the room (CK), go away (Cal Thomas), Nuts - SEN Isakson, etc etc. They all have marching orders to politely as they can marginalize her but do it as strong as possible. She is breaking in line for their perceived leader of the party and they don't like it.

Sapwolf August 21, 2009 3:09 PM

CK makes a sexist remark about Sarah, probably to get hits on the site and also because he has his heart on another possibly Romney at this time.

He insultingly tells Sarah to leave the room then spends the whole column defending what she meant although Sarah mentioned other problems with the bill too.

I've always known Chuck is an insider and conservative in most opinions and can be witty and insightful.

But, when he tells Sarah to leave the room, his elitism TOTALLY shows because he is saying to the American people to leave the room.

C4P'ers should e-mail him and let 'em know how insulted you are.

He is just one Air Force One flight with 'The One' from being Parker when it comes to anything Sarah.

Stephanie August 21, 2009 3:12 PM

Well...well...well

CK, you can just kiss my rusty crusty, you sexist pig! Leave the room? You have got to be kidding me! Who the hell are you to demean Sarah in one breath & then basically agree with her in the next?

This article is hypocrisy in full living color! It doesn't take an elitist intellect to see that CK can't see past the end of his nose!

I don't know if this has been posted but Andy McCarthy in NRO has a long but excellent article on "Death Panels"

"Killing Obamacare"

FTA in part:

‘Death panels’ cuts to the chase, which is the only way Democrats can be stopped.

"Earlier this week, some of my National Review colleagues recoiled from Sarah Palin’s bracing allegation that Obamacare would foist government “death panels” on vulnerable Americans. I recoiled from the recoil, which I thought exemplified the same sort of “hysteria” the editorial in question, “Rationing and Rationality,” condemned. There followed a debate (see The Corner archives for August 17 and 18), largely a fine parsing of how — rationally, of course — the term “death panel” ought to be defined. As we went back and forth, I kept having this nagging thought:"

[

"That’s why I found our “death panel” debate so disconcerting. The editorial that pooh-poohed the label acknowledged, as my friend Rich Lowry later emphasized, that the legislation gave great reason (I’d say grave reason) to be concerned about “government rationing and a general slide toward euthanasia.” The editorial’s contention was that there wouldn’t “literally” be death panels. To me, that’s not much different from quibbling over “what the meaning of ‘is’ is.” The stakes here couldn’t be higher, time is short, and “death panel” cuts to the chase."

[

"Obama, of course, wanted health-care “reform” done — all 1,000-plus pages of it — before the summer recess. In essence, Democrats want to repeal individual liberty; move one-sixth of the private sector into the same government-controlled model that has produced bankruptcy in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid; add additional trillions to the already exploded national debt; and they want to do it all right now — no discovery, no settlement negotiations, no five-week trial, no delays."

"Given this Democratic whirlwind, I don’t see why we owe them better than “death panels.” They are what we’re sure to get if Obamacare isn’t killed first."

Hours ago on the early thread I said Sarah needs to talk to Charles. If he sees that she has some intellectual heft all will change. To be honest he is such an elitist, and I like him, he just doesn't believe some one from Alaska could be "BRILLIANT",but I bet Sarah can make a believer out of him.

PEC August 21, 2009 3:34 PM

tim c - Almost all that have talked to her say that BUT keep in mind Inside the Beltway they only want to hang out with their kind. The snobs of the world and that is not Sarah. Regardless of what sh does they look down on her as they do us.

PEC August 21, 2009 3:40 PM

Maybe some on here can get a picture of who these elitists are. In all colleges there is this group of guys that believe they are better than everybody else. They drive nice cars their parents bought them, all dress about the same and look down on everybody else.
What Sarah is to them is that nice looking girl on campus that they want to sleep with for a night and then sneek her out the back so there snotty girlfriend (Kathleen Parker) doesn't see her. They would not want to be caught with a lesser person like Sarah as that would destroy their image amingst the elites.

PEC August 21, 2009 3:45 PM

tim c - I wish I could say that but I am more and more convinced that all they want is there place at the Georgetown Cocktail Party. That and Sarah isn't doing interviews. They all believe you have to do it their way. Hit the Sunday morning talk shows, make the rounds on the networks and behind the scenes feed people like CK info. They are power hungry and info is power. They are use to all the other politicians giving them the inside scoop. Sarah is not talking so they look powerless.

Krauthammer and other elitists don't like Palin for one simple reason:

"Every ARISTOCRATIC morality springs from a TRIUMPHANT AFFIRMATION of its own demands."

Nietzsche

TRANSLATION:

Elites do not consider Sarah Palin as being an aristocrat and therefore not a participant in the 'aristocratic morality' and any venting on your part is not a 'triumphant affirmation' but a irreverent, insidious putdown of the elitist viewpoint and the potential erosion of its longstanding credibility.

Stephen Boyce [aka Vadm Collingwood] August 21, 2009 8:48 PM

Special Report is the best 30 minute newscast on television. What? You mean there are people who don’t reach for the remote when the “panel” comes on? I apologize. I didn’t know.

Krauthammer is just another self-anointed chevalier of the status quo.

The Beltway noiseworks will never approve of someone like Sarah Palin. It is contrary to the law of gravity. So, if it appears to be happening, watch out for the little man behind the curtain.

Old salt axioms for pundit watching (including the all knowing, all seeing ma ha Krauthammer):

1. Pundits will always say what they think the producers think the audience wants to hear because a pundit's one true goal is to get on the air tomorrow.

2. Pundits will always defend the Beltway establishment because that is where they live and eat.

3. Pundits are fearful of principles, but are inevitably charmed by principals.

4. Pundits are the “conventional wisdom” which is why they are almost always wrong.

5. Pundits only flatter those who feed them and they ain’t eatin’ at Sarah’s table.

What pundits pass off as deep thinking is really just "insider" gossip and the Palin inner circle (assuming there is one) doesn’t talk to anyone – not ever.

Not a single pundit waxing eloquent about Gov. Palin’s rising star or asking her to “leave the room” ever recommended that she risk all her political capital as governor on ACES, AGIA, ethics reform, or draconian budget cuts. They never recommended she risk it all again by running with John McCain. They certainly never recommended she put it all up for grabs by stepping down from the governorship.

Not a single pundit has predicted Gov. Palin’s next move. Most are still trying to figure out the last one.

Never entrust power to anyone who is not prepared to surrender it.

Nancy August 21, 2009 9:02 PM

Stephen Boyce,

techno August 22, 2009 4:02 AM

There are 10 rules to follow when evaluating the work of a right-wing pundit:

1) Never think that a pundit cannot make a pronouncement on one program and an hour later go on another program and take just the opposite position, backpedal or take a more 'flexible' position

2)A pundit tries to come off as serving the public by providing valuable independent insight but he/she knows his/her true master is the TV producer who tells him/her what 'direction' he wants the conversation to take

3)A pundit's reputation is as credible as his last prediction; thus few firm predictions are ever made by pundits

eg. the apology by CK last Sunday that the TH protests would not have any effect on Obamacare

4)Pundits are often former staff members of an administration and thus often feel constrained in criticizing their former employer or are not totally forthcoming in matters in which they were privy to.

5)Pundits often favor or work for a possible Presidential candidate; thus they will take any opportunity to cheap-shot a potential GOP opponent like Sarah Palin

6)Most pundits are pompous elitist windbags and use big words to dazzle the audience. Nevertheless much of what they say must be taken with a grain of salt.

7)Following up on #3, pundits, to use an example from WWII, were clueless to when D-Day would be launched but after the fact they acted like they suggested the idea and then explain why 'their' idea was so successful

8)Pundits do not favor candidates where there are few or no leaks because they make them appear to 'be on the inside' and therefore more credible. Thus they detest Sarah Palin.

9)Most pundits do not favor unorthodoxy. It prevents them form understanding what is happening. Thus Sarah Palin is an anathema to many of them.

10)Most pundits attend cocktail parties with their spouses. The last thing they want to get caught doing is defending Sarah Palin and then have to defend their faux pas to fellow elitists.

MarySue August 22, 2009 4:14 AM

Excellent take down. I linked your post here .

badnewzbearz August 22, 2009 4:46 AM

I wonder if Krauthammer has even bothered to read any of Sarah's Facebook entries. They are actually quite substantive and go into the details of Section 1233, and introduce people to the warped views of Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel. I mean, come on, this guy's views are not even CLOSE to our values.

Using the phrase "Death Panels" had the desired effect of having the media jump all over it, and to get people to read her entire entries.

Even Obama was put in the position of having to publicly state that he would not "pull the plug on Grandma."

Syntax_Game August 22, 2009 6:18 AM

"Do you think the doctor will go on and on about the fantastic new million-dollar high-tech gizmo that can prolong the patient's otherwise hopeless condition for another six months?" -- YES MR. Sheya August 23, 2009 12:10 AM

I like Krauthammer and respect him frankly I can’t figure out what he’s on about. In his first paragraph he attacks Sarah for the “Death Panels” while in the very next one he makes her case.

Is it that he doesn’t realize the term “Death Panels” was a rhetorical quote and didn’t really mean actual “Death Panels”? Nah, Charles isn’t that stupid.

It’s simple, would anyone even be talking about his column were it not for that first paragraph? Everything he wrote has been chewed over 1000’s of times in the past two weeks that unless he bashes Sarah his column wouldn’t get any traction.

Another case of people using Sarah’s good name to cash in on.

Vincent Jappi August 23, 2009 8:59 AM

Socialism, of the National as well as the Leninist variety, has always been protected by the sheer enormity of its crimes, as many normal people wouldn't admit their logical consequences.

To see someone like Krauthammer deny the "death panel" argument is as terrifying a denial of the obvious as seeing Ann Coulter dismiss the "birthers".

Can't he see that any administrative decision to deny funding will automatically lead to many people's lives being shortened due to government use of force?

Would he similarly deny that the ban on DDT in poor countries, which led to the death of millions of children, was a no less deliberate bureaucractic mass murder?

The fact is that the whole Obamacare project is predicated on the death panel principle, and not only because it explicitely provides for such panels to exist, but because it will add massive unnecessary constraints on the provision of services, which in itself must also lead to worse health care and more unnecessary deaths.
