Public School Library Propagates Falsehood That Governor Palin Banned Books
How ironic it is that when news emerges of Governor Palin's book becoming available prior to its expected date, she shows up in my school's library. No, she didn't show up in person and no, there was no announcement to inform interested students about her book, which reportedly is already number one on the Barnes and Noble list.
She showed up in the center of a display highlighting Banned Books Week.
I was walking on my way to the weight room this evening when I stopped dead in my tracks after taking a few steps past the library. I backed up and took in the display in the window, which includes various books, quotes, and poetry about reading and book banning. Only one person's picture is a part of the display--and that person is Governor Palin. It was included in an old article called "Sarah Palin, aspiring book banner?" which was published in the LA Times a year ago. That article makes up a homemade poster that says, "Sarah Palin + Banned Books = Censorship."
Listen, I'm not talking about a local area library. I'm talking about a public school library, where they use this week to demonize Palin as the enemy of free thought, reading, and exploration. Nevermind the plethora of information out there that she never sought to ban books but had asked a general question of a librarian to discover how she would deal with censorship. Nevermind the numerous times Governor Palin has herself stated she never sought to ban books. And nevermind the fact that some of the books on the list, like Harry Potter, hadn't even been published yet! No, facts aren't important.
What's important is the growing determination to further a Left-wing agenda to destroy Governor Palin. What's important is the attempt to indoctrinate our children. I say indoctrinate because that is exactly what this is. As if it weren't bad enough that some schools are singing the "Mmm Mmm Mmm" praises of President Obama, chanting "Change Has Come," and changing the "Jesus" in the song "Jesus Loves the Little Children" to include Obama, now I walk past the high school library in the district where I teach, and there are falsehoods about the former vice presidential candidate. There is a clear attempt to lead our children down a particular road, and somebody has to be the road block. That somebody will be me...tomorrow when I walk back in that building and address this issue.
That article in the school library window states in part:
Librarian Jessamyn West, who blogs at librarian.net, writes, "Usually I’m just happy to see libraries even mentioned in national level politics, but not like this."
This seems like a good time to mention Banned Books Week, beginning Sept. 27, which celebrates the freedom to read. 2007's most challenged book was "And Tango Makes Three," a children's book about a penguin with two dads; books by Mark Twain and Alice Walker appear, again, on the list. Exactly what books Palin might have wanted to ban have not been identified (other than some unsupported rumors), but it's safe to assume that she won't be joining in to celebrate the idea that no books should be banned at all.
I find it interesting that this particular article states that those books weren't identified. Another falsehood. Perhaps they left that out because the truth was embarrassing. Yes, it's embarrassing to list books that didn't exist when she supposedly tried to rid the world of them.
On the left and right of the display in the library window is the poem "Manifesto" by author, Ellen Hopkins. In the poem, Hopkins blasts "zealots, biggots, and false patriots," for their desire to censor. This poem is the official poem of this year's Banned Books Week--and Governor Palin's picture is the centerpiece!
What gives them the right to place this attack in the library window? Who approved the display--or who overlooked it? Am I the only person who walked by and saw it? What impression does it give our children? What impact will this have on their vote in a few years? I am livid, as I should be. This is absolutely unacceptable behavior.
Anyone who hasn't been hiding under a rock in the past year ought to know the truth about the book banning issue, but in case someone has just slithered out, here are some facts about Palin and the so-called book banning issue.
In an article called "Palin did not ban books in Wasilla as mayor," the USA Today reported
Taylor Griffin, a McCain spokesman, said Palin raised the issue of the library's policy because there had been widespread discussion in Wasilla at that time about banning books. She was trying to understand the city's policy, he said.
"Sarah Palin has never asked anyone to ban a book," Griffin said. "It shouldn't be surprising that the new mayor of a city that had seen recent protests over books and was in the process of re-evaluating the book-challenge policies at its library would ask the librarian what those policies were."
Michelle Malkin submitted in "The bogus Sarah Palin Banned Books List" this P.D.S. Alert:
Palin Derangement Syndrome strikes again. This time it’s hysterical librarians and their readers on the Internet disseminating a bogus list of books Gov. Sarah Palin supposedly banned in 1996. Looks like some of these library people failed reading comprehension. Take a look at the list below and you’ll find books Gov. Palin supposedly tried to ban…that hadn’t even been published yet. Example: The Harry Potter books, the first of which wasn’t published until 1998.
The smear merchants who continue to circulate the list also failed to do a simple Google search, which would have showed them that the bogus Sarah Palin Banned Book List is almost an exact copy-and-paste reproduction of a generic list of “Books Banned at One Time or Another in the United States” that has been floating around the Internet for years. STACLU notes that the official Obama campaign website is also perpetuating the fraud. And it’s spread to craigslist, where some unhinged user is posting images likening Palin to Hitler. Here it is again.
[...]
It’s a fake. Not true. Total B.S. A lie.
If it gets sent to you by a moonbat friend or family member, set ‘em all straight. Fight the smears. They’ve only just begun.
Malkin hit the nail on the head. They had only just begun last year, and they still exist--in our public school libraries, of all places. Read her entire article here, which includes the bogus list of books.
FactCheck.org reported:
She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a "What if?" question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin's first term.
[...]
One accusation claims then-Mayor Palin threatened to fire Wasilla’s librarian for refusing to ban books from the town library. Some versions of the rumor come complete with a list of the books that Palin allegedly attempted to ban. Actually, Palin never asked that books be banned; no books were actually banned; and many of the books on the list that Palin supposedly wanted to censor weren't even in print at the time, proving that the list is a fabrication.
I could go on and on, but it's not necessary. As stated, anyone who cared to know, who actually did a little fact checking of their own, already got the 411 on the deal. However, I am addressing it again because obviously some who are supposed to be in the business of educating, have not been informed or are ignoring the information, and their ignorance is impacting--shall I say infecting--our children. This cannot go unchallenged--and it won't.
My approach tomorrow? I will go into the library with the facts and present them respectfully. I will ask that Governor Palin's picture and the article be removed. If that is denied, I will request they hang another article next to it--which I will graciously provide--that refutes the falsehoods. If I do not get anywhere with the librarian, well, I'll go to the next level. It is my hope that my talk with the librarian will suffice, but we'll see what happens.
No doubt as Governor Palin's book continues to sell, even before it hits the shelves, those with an agenda will beef up their attacks to misrepresent her as uninformed, anti-intellectual, and unworthy of paying attention to. I have some serious problems with that, but as a teacher, my main problem is that their misrepresentation hurts our children. So let the truth be told.
Below are pictures of the high school library display.

That was a very inappropriate display for a public school library. How much better it would be to show books that have been "banned" and are now accepted literature. Someone went overboard on that one.
Good luck!
That's pretty bad...what town is this? Are you going in there tomorrow to complain?
I can't say I am surprised..but this story needs to go viral!
Adrienne...Thank You for your hard work! Good Luck tomorrow...
I would do exactly the same thing had I saw that. You go girl, Adrienne! You set them straight and demand they un-brainwash them by putting a notice of apology/correction.
I can't believe the level of PDS these folks have at that library.
Keep fighting the good fight.
Can we get this to Fox news?
AKReport,
That's a good idea! It should get to FOX news.
Yes we can
I am going to email them
Adrienne-
Keep following the Truth (and exposing the lies)
When the current narrative to bring down Sarah isn't working, turn back the clock and resurrect the old canards.
Watch for the Matt Damon screed on You Tube that Sarah believes the earth is only 6000 years old to gain more air time as well.
I know this is a touchy thing for me. I said when I wrote "If Obama Can Come to School on Sept. 8th, Gov. Palin Can Come on the 9th" that "my days are numbered." I am definitely stepping on toes, but I was in such shock that I could barely take it. I continued on to my workout--and my adrenaline was pumping so much it was the easiest treadmill miles I've ever run! After, I went back home and got my camera. I hope I am able to capture a different picture of the library window display after my talk tomorrow. I'll update.

New thread Quote of the day regarding SP at Hot Air
Good luck, Adrienne. If they don't take this down we need to get this story on Fox.
Adrienne Thanks for bringing this story to the forefront it’s important this gets out. It should get the attention – if not more – than the sing along video. It is outrages.

O’Reilly is the perfect guy to take on this task he loves this stuff, if enough people write to him he’ll deal with it. Hannity may also take this on he likes a liberal scandal. Megan Kelly would have done a number on these people too but she’s off for a while.

Wow Adrienne.
You better get others in the community to assist.
Are there other Saral Palin fans and TeamSarah people in that area that can protest?
Keep us posted. These unfair lies need to be fought as much as possible.
ms adrienne
please keep up the good work and all the best tomorrow...
Rush is really hot under the collar about the press reports of Sarah Palin because they are so scared of her. He could not understand why Tina Fey made Baba Wawa's top 10 when Tina would not be anywhere without Madame 45. Why not have Sarah???
God keep Madame 45 safe and sound. He is hoping Madame 45 sells 5 million books!! and so do I. I put it on my Christmas list.
Keep up the good work Adrienne
Adrienne,
It's teachers like you that give me hope about the future of the public education system. I know it must be very frustrating for you at times--this being one of them--but don't give up the fight. We need warriors like you in there doing what's right for our kids. You are a hero as far as I'm concerned and your students are VERY lucky to have you.
Good luck tomorrow! We will anxiously await your update.
It's also a good thing I was not with you.
I would have promptly tore the display down and read them the riot act.
Near where I live, the Catholic cemetery has the flags at half-mast. I asked them if that was due to the death of the sleazy Ted Kennedy, and they said it was a retired auxiliary bishop that I confirmed over the net.
One lady at the office told me that her child's public school tried to do something at the school.
I told honestly, that if those flags had been half-mast due to Kennedy, they would have disappeared.
It is like when the City of Milpitas in CA flew the Chinese Communist Flag at City Hall for three days in place of the US flag back when I lived there in the 90's. I did not find out about it til after the weekend and it was taken down.
These are little things that we all have to notice and fight aggressively.
It is our failure to fight against these small injustices that has gotten us to this point.
Good luck Adrienne and write about it if you can in the future.
Thanks.
You'll be in Pam's and my prayers as we read John 8:32 tonight.
Continue to walk-the-walk..and (courageously) talk-the-talk.
*Just like a certain Alaskan "Lady Liberty" we all love.
Sarah did make Baba Wawa's top 10.
Baba Wawa couldn't understand why Sarah wouldn't appear.
Baba Wawa is clueless.
My main objective is to get the problem rectified, so I will politely speak to the librarian tomorrow. It is my hope that the conversation will be fruitful. I am outraged that this was even allowed, and it is a good thing I have overnight to mull it over before tomorrow morning. Never a dull moment.
God Bless You Adrienne. May you be strengthened to do what is right tomorrow.
Also, do you think you could go to the Geography department and demand they teach that America has 57 states, plus put a picture of Barry beside a map of the US? After all, that's what he says, so it must be right!!!
On a serious note, my hope for the longer term lies in the fact that the American people (most of them) are reasonable and fair people. They recognize and respect the truth. My guess is that at some point there is going to be a huge back-lash against the smear techniques being used by Sarah's opponents and the lies they spread. People far beyond ourselves are going to say "Enough!" What goes around comes around, and Sarah will one day receive her full vindication.
Sapwolf: When I first became aware of these indescetions by government, I noticed my city hall had a nativity scene on the lawn. I was outraged, but I was only 17 and my grandfather was the mayor. I didn't write the newspaper. I have always felt guilty about that.
I guess that we have to pay for being polite.
Adrienne, you go girl, and don't let them get away with that....if need be call in Fox,s News. And remenber not too far from there 20.000 people came out to see Sarah, just 3 months ago.
sarah rocks 2012
If Adrienne will supply an email addy for the school it might help to email the copied and pasted portions where the banned books statement has been refuted.
I would be more than happy to send and email north from the Lone Star State.
Interesting how all these old debunked smears keep popping up over and over again. That just means that the dems have absolutely nothing left. Keep fighting the good fight.
BTW, Going Rogue is now #11 at Amazon. Considering the round about way you have to get there, that's pretty good. It will most likely be up to #1 tomorrow.
Borders Books has Going Rogue, but they don't show sales ratings.
Adrienne, please keep us up to speed. This is terrible.
Disgusting - absolutely disgusting.
If a school official put this thing up - it needs to come down now and the official needs a stern warning.
If this was some kid's project - the parents deserve a talking to. Giving your kids false stories for school projects is bad. At the very least the teacher should have nicely told the kid that that article was actually a lie.
That said - I doubt any of the individuals ever heard that Palin was proven innocent on this issue - gotta love the media.
sandra,
you're a jerk, despite your faux attempts at "discussion" and weak admonition to your brother-in-arms Hank.
Boy, at 17 you were outraged at a nativity scene on the city hall lawn ??? Let me see, now, you're 69, so when you were 17 this was, uh, 1957 ? God hadn't been kicked out of the public square until 1960.
Hmmm, fess up Sandra-Hank. you're a fake and a POS.
---------------------------------
liberalism really is a mental disease, as evidenced by sandra and the librarian in Adrienne's article.
Adrienne, best wishes in your stand for normalcy.
Wow! I'm quite speechless. This is ridiculous. I'll be praying for you as you speak to the librarian at this school. I know you will speak with tact, grace, truthfulness, and respectful assertiveness.
Dear Adrienne,
Splendid!! I shall be praying for you for your efforts in this matter
DAMN (and I could say much worse) these people make me furious!!!
Slander is a very serious sin!!!
Lying is a very serious sin!!!
I think this garbage just fires us all to fight harder for her (and maybe to order a few extra copies of her book, or to give more to SarahPac).
God bless you, Adrienne, for what you do; God bless you for who you are!!
Brianus
Another radical left member of the faculty wants to indoctrinate the kids. Simple really.
If I am blessed enough to have kids, I will send them to private school that I check out thats for sure, since teachers like Adrienne are few and far between.
Thank God I can afford it.
Bill: I'm sorry but what I have said is the truth. Because there wasn't a public outcry for the mixing of state and religion, I knew I would have no backing to protest the scene on the public lawn.
Does it help you to know that I was, at the time, a freshman at Berkeley?
Please don't connect me to Hank. It was funny today when you suggested I was his grandmother. I actually have a grandson named Hank, but he is only 2 years old, and I don't think he knows how to type yet.
Personally,
I think you should post pics and copies of the acknowledgment of the "Sarah banned books" error on top of all those ridiculous pictures...lol! That may definitely push them over the edge!! Put lots of gooey, icky rubber cement so that when they try to peel the new and improved display off, their crap comes down too.
That would be the most fair response to this, as talking to these yahoos does nothing...we all know this.
Yea, I got a bit of a mean streak...idiocy makes it rise. :-)
sandra,
at 17 you were concerned about the separation of church and state ?
this is not the site for you Sarah.
on this site we love America, which was founded to the Glory of the God of the Bible.
A nativity scene on the city hall lawn in 1957 is not scary. YOU ARE SCARY, you worthless old hag.
Get the f out this site, Bob Beckel's aunt.
You're a POS x 2
Adrienne,
Be careful, it could be a set-up.
Fight the smears...
Adrienne,
One library is simply one tip of one iceberg... the blowback against George Soros, the Tides Foundation, the Apollo Alliance 'tsunami' and assorted anti-capitalist organizations has begun.
Maybe you were not just walking by, but maybe you are simply God's fortuitous 'tip of the spear' in your school district... hang in there.
Unfortunately I'm not really surprised, but it is really sad that the truth is no longer important to teach. This isn't even in the category of political opinion, this is just false! The whole argument against banning books is to celebrate the peaceful expression of a diversity of opinions. I wonder how many copies of "Going Rogue" the school will be ordering...
But on a more hopeful note, "Going Rogue" is #1 for today at BN.com!
Hey Sap...
The Empire State Building will be soon lit up in Honor of China...
Dear GOD!
Well I guess it is okay since they may OWN that too!
Sandra,
Oh the horror--a nativity scene on the lawn of your city hall!!! What next--city workers saying "Merry Christmas"?
Now tell me--without using the phrase "separation of church and state"--what exactly was it about this peaceful display that outraged you so at 17?
This story has my b*tchometer at its breaking point.
When I went to Amazon to pre-order the book today I discovered they have an entire section under Sarah Palin titled books she banned as Mayor....
Tiny dancer: I realized at that tender age when I was an extremely devout Christian that other people did not have the same beliefs. They paid their taxes and yet the lawn was appropriated to only one religious group.
I certainly would not object to a display like this on a church lawn.
Adrienne
The display lies.
The library lies.
How many others have this display? My suspicion is that the person who put it up did not think of it and just put it in one place. My guess is that there are thousands in school libraries.
This is a flat out lie. I won't tolerate it. I heard it from a man in church a year ago. I said, "that is a lie."
I don't tolerate this lie.
Also, it is defamation.
If they don't immediately remove it, Sarah's lawyer should be informed.
Probably the person who put up this display was not much of a thinking person. It is difficult to confront another person in the public schools. I hope Adrienne can take care of this without endangering her position.
Adrienne,
I will be praying for you tomorrow! God bless you!
Carolyn said...

O'Reilly will go to town on these folks, hahaha.
Go Adrienne go!
sandra said, "I hope Adrienne can take care of this without endangering her position."
So do I, girl!
I will be praying for God's wisdom, direction, and favor. Thank you to so many of you for praying as well. I don't intend to blast anyone; that's not the direction God will take me. However, I do not believe He intends for me to be silent. I will listen for His clarity.
Fox news would be the best bet.Great catch Adrienne.I would not go there however, nor would i talk to the librarian. The fact that they did that, means -they did in on purpose there is a lot of hate, they despise Palin.
All you will receive is insults, let professionals take care of it.
Despicable. Knowledge is a principle of freedom. By spreading lies they are not just attacking Sarah Palin, they are attacking the ability of the kids there to make informed decisions. God bless you Adrienne. I join with others that will be praying for you tomorrow.
Sandra lies to get on this site. It is Conservatives for Palin, not progressives against Palin. So why would anyone think she would start telling the truth once she is on here? Her biggest lie must be, of course, that she is a devout Christian. If she is a Christian, she should start telling the truth which includes going to any of the many neutral sites and discussing these things. Don't call yourself Christian while you're lying.
Sandra said,
"Probably the person who put up this display was not much of a thinking person. It is difficult to confront another person in the public schools. I hope Adrienne can take care of this without endangering her position."
Sandra,
The people that did this did it to force Adrienne's hand, so they can document her "uncooperativeness" and her "inability to get along with her co-workers" and "disrespect of diverse viewpoints". That's next Adrienne. They know your support of Sarah so they put this garbage up to stir your ire. I would not be surprised if there happen to be several "witnesses" happily substantiating your "breakdown" tomorrow. Diverse viewpoints that do not coincide with theirs must be gone, right?
What I'd really like to say is, post your own wall of truth and if they tell you that you cannot do that, I would lawyer up!
Reality is, it's your decision on how you handle this...put your armour on girl, Ephs 6:12-13!! God be with you, always!

I posted before about my son’s new high school having a life-sized cutout of Obama greet them when they entered the building, and Obama pictures, drawings, and quotes throughout his school.
He tells me the cutout, and most of the pictures, etc., are down now.
I posted about the evil Glenn Beck discussion in the school library the other day between the librarian and a teacher with a student audience. (Although this appeared to have been unpremeditated, it’s still wrong in front of the children.)
I’ll ask him to be on the look out for anything anti-Palin tomorrow.
How many other public schools are insidiously spreading lies and nonsense like this (and far worse).
The ends always justify the means to the progressive Left.
Earlier today I was chilled to hear Obama's name substituted for Jesus's in children's school songs.
Now this. Appalling indeed!
How do I feel?
Like Germans did in 1935.
I cry for our children..AND pray for our nation.
President Palin:
2012 CAN'T come soon enough!
They are entitled to their own opinion, but not to their own facts. If the library will not agree to take this lie down, or to allow equal space for you to put up a sign with an arrow pointing to the other with the word "LIE" in 12-inch-high letters, and the proof underneath it, then you should arrange to stand OUTSIDE the window holding the sign up, pointing to the LIE, and have someone capture it on video. Put it up on youtube, and/or send it to Fox. Threely-fy the URL and tweet the crap out of it.
The lies need to be called out every time. Those who repeat them need to be shamed as partisans willing to sacrifice the truth on the altar of their Obamessiah.
Good luck, Adrienne, and definitely keep us posted! It is exhausting fighting all of this ignorance and misinformation about Sarah that persists out there.
You know what the really ironic thing is? I'll bet this library wouldn't hesitate to refuse to have Sarah's autobiography on their shelves. Censorship much?
Adrienne,
Others have said it all. We're with you. I would send it to Fox anyway. Sunlight is your best protection in addition to your faith. With the press into it, the school has no ammo on you.
Steve B.
MsLiberty ... Excellent point. When liberals censor, and they do it every day, in every way, it is called political correctness, and they justify their censorship as protecting the children from right-wing hatred.
So, in their minds, censorship can ONLY be carried out by conservatives.
Trust me ... I'm a former liberal. I KNOW how their minds work.
Furthermore, Sandra ...
Let me get this straight: You're lamenting that you did not protest a manger on city hall more than 50 years ago? You feel like you let such an opportunity slide, and the world is now suffering the severe consequences of your failure to act?
Because somehow Berkeley is too religiously conservative -- YET you alone could have made a difference ... if only, if only you had summoned the courage back in your youth.
Sandra, if only you had been braver, it's very possible Berkeley would now be burning Christians at the stake.
Such a missed opportunity ...
Well, this certainly got fired up. Adrienne, be careful. I have been a teacher in many different institutions (public and parochial), and I know what the repercussions of being (or thinking) different can be. Your mission is to teach and to be true to your beliefs.
We cannot all overturn the tables in the temple. We do what we think is right at the time.
Good luck and may you find peace.
sandra,
I have peace already that I cannot be silent. When you say, "Be careful," what do you mean? I will handle myself respectfully. I have been praying, and I believe all will be well however it unfolds. I expect God to lead me. He's faithful.
I have been teaching for 14 years and some really good things go on in our district, and there are many people who really love our kids. I'm not taking away from that. That doesn't mean, however, that I should overlook something this blatant--and false. Perhaps that's the same as "overturning the tables." If it is, so be it. With God's wisdom and grace, I will step out in faith.
Thank you Adrienne for exposing this lie and good luck.
O/T: Nancy and Cruela...did I just read you folks are Broncos fans IN CO?! No meetin' up without me!! :-D
(be funny if we'd already me, eh?)
Nande,
You guys (Nande, Nancy, Cruela) are Broncos fans;
You guys are Sarah fans.
Result: I love ya, in spite of your football loyalties.
And I am a diehard Raiders fan from the Lamonica, Clem Daniels, et al. days.
This sort of puts things in perspective, doesn't it?
I LOVE my sports, but Sarah is Sarah; my country is my country!!!
God bless you!
Brianus
Question for the scientists:
If Palin banned her own book, would that cause a problem with the Space/Time Continuum?
Adrienne, good luck with that. My only advice is do what Sarah Palin would do in this situation which is follow your heart and convictions.
O/T:
Who would send me a copy of "Going Rogue" for Christmas? Who wants to get a special prayer from far away Baku, Azerbaijan?
Please contact the C4P editors (particularly RAM) in order to get my contact.
Thanks.
Get 'em Adrienne !! This is outrageous and all our thoughts and prayers are with you!
Good luck Adrienne. Let us know how this works out.
I don't have any but for those here that have kids I think you should check your school's library for this kind of shenanigans as well.
Let's be clear on this:
the left always tells us what is right and wrong.
For example: banning books is wrong, really wrong, egregiously wrong, so, hey, let's attach this wrong to Sarah, he he he.
But . . . for the left, it's really only about banning "some" books, no ?
like The Bible, any book by Glenn Beck, Michelle Malkin, etc.
Here's what the ALA says about banned books:
"Intellectual freedom—the freedom to access information and express ideas,
even if the information and ideas might be considered unorthodox or unpopular
—provides the foundation for Banned Books Week.
BBW stresses the importance of ensuring the availability of unorthodox or unpopular viewpoints for all who wish to read and access them."
Well, now, I think that gives us the authority to get Glenn Beck's books in the public school library, no ? (and of course, "Going Rogue")
yea Sarah
yea Adrienne
when the young find out they're being lied to (ALL THE TIME), they are going to be mad. REALLY mad.
Keep 'em honest Adrienne. Thank you for all you do!!
Adrienne - I think others have said they have sent to Fox. I will check and send to Greta and Glen Beck. Also let SARAHPAC know. Remember one of Sarah's new lawyers is a New York lawyer. Don't know NY Law but there could be defamation of Character issues.
Say what you have to, we can write the Superintendent, Principle, Foxnews etc. if anything happens to you. One thing others don't have is the weight of Barbarians.
Adrienne:
I prayed for you just now. Thank you for being a Godly upright example in your job. I know the Lord will give you success in defending a fellow sister in Christ, Sarah Palin.
Do not be careful. Christ was never careful, but bold in all He did.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
Adrienne,
Looks like you're up. Your next fight in the revolution. I'm recession broke but if you get fired you'll get 20 bucks from me, I promise. Take it on we're proud of you.
Yo, Adrienne!
(Rocky is REALLY bellowing now!)
God bless you, sister.
In "rocks" and "slithering" you chose the right figure of speech.
Snakes slither around and hide under rocks.
However, each passing day reveals more clearly their identities and the location of their dens and hiding places...
for us all to see and mark clearly.
You are righteous; you know the truth; and you are fearless and loving, like the master.
Your boldness and love in the truth will prevail. The librarian and/or administration will have to back down.
And if they don't...
you know that your Father has you in His care,
as He has shown so clearly that He has Sarah in that same care.
------
(But I DO hope it gets aired on Fox or elsewhere. It needs to be aired.)
----
Now I peek via preview and see that Lipstick is exhorting along similar lines.
Lipstick - love you, too, sister!
Yo, Adrienne,
I think it's a good day to ride that Harley to work.
Park it in the librarian's assigned spot.
(You "redneck woman," you.)
: )
Be strong and courageous, Adrienne.
Thanks for taking this on. This is the other side of the harmful indoctrination coin: Building up BO and demonizing SP, the most visible and effective opposition.
Fight the good fight. Man of us are praying for your courage and wisdom in this fight.
Let us know what happens.
Man = Many
Adrienne, If there is anything that we can do to help please let us know. You are a true warrior.
Tera,
Go back and read what I wrote. I didn't suggest Hopkins made an attack on Sarah. I don't know how wonderful Hopkins is either, and I don't necessarily have to agree with her poem, which calls people bigots, zealots, and false patriots. I said nothing of HER demonizing Palin. I also didn't say that having a display during this week was wrong. I said the use of Palin as the centerpiece of this issue is false, inappropriate, and has no business in our school. Reread the post.
Tera (Nicole): No matter what age one is, one must back up one's assertions with some evidence. Please provide evidence for your statement that "(Sarah) does agree with the idea of banning books."
Please don't drink the liberal, MSM Kool-Aid, before discovering the facts of the matter.
The fact, (as I understand it) is that, as mayor of Wasilla, she once made an inquiry to the local librarian about the issue (whioh was a matter of public discussion at the time). But that's hardly evidence for your assertion. She was doing what any good public servant ought to do - glean as much information about the issue as possible from knowledgable and informed people. If people in my community were raising the issue of banning books, I too would talk to the local librarian about it.
I myself am not a book banner, but I also think there's an appropriate place for every book. And that appropriate place may not always be in a public library.
Please, read my comment, as I did read your post. I agreed with the statement, saying, It isn't okay to slander Sarah. No one should be able in a public Library talk about anyone, even citizens as they are Palin. I may not like her, but I did in fact, say I agreed.
I now must say, I believe it was rude of you to delete my comment. You say that you are standing up to something? Stand up to me, not by simply removing my comment, but by quoting it.
I am not stupid, and I did read your whole post, and again, I agree that having Sarah in this display was WRONG. And I will say again, I agree that it was inappropriate, and WRONG.
Also, Ellen using the words, bigots and zealots is not wrong. They are synonyms. She is only expressing herself, and should not be taken down from the said exhibit, if you were at all thinking about it. [Again, I do not assume you were saying anything about her, I was just stating some simple facts.]
And John.
Is it not book banning to remove those books from the public library? I do think so. Banning of books is not burning them, or removing them from all eyes, it is removing them from one place, just because of the content.
God bless you Adrienne and grant you the strength and wisdom your conversation will need. You will be in my prayers as well.
Sorry if someone mentioned this already, but there's a good article in the WSJ about how "Banned Books Week" is a crock to begin with:

Adrienne--
I join the Barbarians in wishing you strength in the battle before you. May He bless you with wisdom, provide you the words in your mouth, and indomitable courage. You are in my prayers also.
I have an update for this situation, and I will write an update blog later. Thanks for all the support.
a little late with this comment, but we should let Adrienne guide us and not inundate the press.
it's her battle at the moment and if she wants help, she'll ask for it.
my wife is in the same situation, but she won't say a peep regarding Sarah, mostly because everyone is a knee-jerk PDS'er
Adrienne,
Your composure is amazing! I know you will point out all the falsehoods and the "bias" in this display! You will do great! I am a teacher too, and understand the correct protocol you need to take. I am proud of you!
frisky,
Thank you. I want to do things right. I did not get far today, although for a while I thought it was resolved. I will talk to the principal again tomorrow. At this point the display has been up almost the entire week. The only thing that seems fair now is to put up a display stating the truth for all of next week.
This is touchy from a job point of view--trying to see what God's direction is.
Adrienne,
you've planted a seed, won't know right away, that's what seems frustrating at times.
will likely bear fruit, so just keep smiling and look around, it won't be so lonely anymore, people are hiding (like your friend from the other week)
No shame.
