NY Times: Governor Palin Speaks to Investors in Hong Kong; Updated: Excerpts of Speech Added

Mark McDonald, in an article for The New York Times, wrote:
Sarah Palin, in what was billed as her first speech overseas, spoke on Wednesday to Asian bankers, investors and fund managers.
A number of people who heard the speech in a packed a hotel ballroom, which was closed to the media, said Mrs. Palin spoke from notes for 90 minutes and that she was articulate, well-prepared and even compelling.
“The speech was wide-ranging, very balanced, and she beat all expectations,” said Doug A. Coulter, head of private equity in the Asia-Pacific region for LGT Capital Partners.
“She didn’t sound at all like a far-right-wing conservative. She seemed to be positioning herself as a libertarian or a small-c conservative,” he said, adding that she mentioned both Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. “She brought up both those names.”
[...]
“She’s definitely a serious future presidential candidate, and I understand why she plays so well in middle America,” said Mr. Coulter, a Canadian.

Update: (H/T Nicky) Here is another article about Governor Palin's Hong Kong speech, this one by By Jonathan Cheng and Alex Frangos of the Wall Street Journal:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, in what was billed as her first public-speaking engagement outside North America, blamed the world financial crisis on government excesses and called for a new round of deregulation and tax cuts for U.S. businesses.
"We got into this mess because of government interference in the first place," the former Republican U.S. vice presidential candidate said Wednesday at a conference sponsored by investment firm CLSA Asia Pacific Markets. "We're not interested in government fixes, we're interested in freedom," she added.
[...]
She called for tax cuts as well as the elimination of the capital gains and estate tax. Then, she said, the world will "watch the U.S. economy roar back to life."
On health care, Mrs. Palin defended her previous criticisms that the health-care overhaul proposed by Democrats would lead to health-care rationing and what she called "death panels." "It's just common sense that government attempts to solve problems like health care problem will just create new problems." She called for "market friendly" health care reform that gives tax breaks to individuals to buy health insurance.
More here.
Update II: In an article for Bloomberg, Daniel Ten Kate and Cathy Chan wrote:
In a wide-ranging, 80-minute speech to fund managers in Hong Kong today, Palin spoke about issues ranging from Alaskan fishing to energy independence to U.S.-Sino ties. She repeated calls for “market-oriented” health-care reform and said governments shouldn’t regulate executive compensation.
The Fed and the government sent a message to companies that “the bigger that you are, the more problems that you get yourself into, the more likely the government is to bail you out,” Palin said in the closed door speech, according to a tape of the event given to Bloomberg News. “Of course the little guys are left out then. We’re left holding the bag, all the moms and pops all over America.”
[...]
“It was a great speech,” Jonathan Slone, CLSA’s chief executive officer, said. “People got a lot of information” and “are now fully informed on Sarah Palin’s views.”

Update III: (H/T Pat) A short video clip:
Update IV: Via Instapundit:
HONG KONG READER SEAN GIEFING WRITES: “I attended Sarah Palin’s speech at the CLSA conference in Hong Kong. She was very engaging – very down to earth, likeable and offered very intelligent and well informed opinions on US domestic and foreign policy and interesting views on China. If you were looking for a slick nuanced presentation you were likely disappointed. If you were looking for a real person with common sense views and practical ideas you left thinking, why couldn’t we have more people like that in leadership positions. Hopefully we will.”
Update V: Here are some excerpts of the speech courtesy of the Wall Street Journal:
On deficits and Reaganism:
Common sense tells you that when you’re in a hole, you have to stop digging! A common sense conservative looks to history to find solutions to the problems confronting us, and the good news is that history has shown us a way out of this, a way forward from recession. Ronald Reagan, he was faced with an even worse recession, and he showed us how to get out of here.
If you want real job growth, you cut taxes! And you reduce marginal tax rates on all Americans. Cut payroll taxes, eliminate capital gain taxes and slay the death tax, once and for all. Get federal spending under control, and then you step back and you watch the U.S. economy roar back to life. But it takes more courage for a politician to step back and let the free market correct itself than it does to push through panicky solutions or quick fixes…
I can’t wait until we get that Reaganomics sense supplied again because we are going to survive, and we’re going to thrive and expand and roar back to life. And as the world sees this, the world will be a healthier, more secure, safer and more prosperous place when this happens.
[...]
On health care:
I seem to have acquired notoriety in national debate. And all because of two words: death panels. And it is a serious term. It was intended to sound a warning about the rationing that is sure to follow if big government tries to simultaneously increase health care coverage while also claiming to decrease costs. Government has just got to be honest with the people about this….
As I said, it’s just common sense to realize that government’s attempts to solve large problems like the health-care challenges that we have, more often create new ones, and a top down one size fits all plan will not improve the workings of a nationwide health-care system that accounts for some one-fifth of our economy.
Common sense also tells us that passing a trillion dollar new retirement program, that’s not the way to reduce health-care spending. Real health-care reform is market oriented, patient centered and result driven. It would give all individuals the same tax benefit, that an ideal plan that I would have in mind, same tax benefits as those who get coverage through their employers. And give Medicare recipients vouchers so that they can buy their own coverage. And reform tort laws and change regulations to allow people to buy insurance across state lines. Rather than another top down government plan, we should give Americans themselves control over their own health care with market friendly responsible ideas.
[...]
On human rights and democracy in China:
The more politically open and just China is, the more Chinese citizens of every ethnic group will be able to settle disputes in court rather than on the streets. The more open it is, the less we’ll be concerned about its military buildup and its intentions. The more transparent China is, the more likely it is that they will find a true and lasting friendship based on shared values as well as interests. And I’m not talking about a U.S.-led democracy crusade. [We’re] not going to impose our values on other countries. We don’t seek to do that. But the ideas of freedom and liberty and respect for human rights, it’s not just a U.S. idea. They’re very much more than that. They’re enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and many other international covenants and treaties.
On China-U.S. economic relations:
Our economic interdependence drives our relationship with China. I see a future of more trade with China and more American high tech goods in China. But in order for that to happen, we need China to improve its rule of law, and protect our intellectual property. We need to avoid protectionism and China’s flirtation with state assisted national champions. On our part we should be more open to Chinese investment where our national security interests are not threatened. In the end though, our economic relationship will truly thrive when Chinese citizens and foreign corporations can hold the Chinese government accountable when their actions are unjust.
Much more here.
Update VI: More analysis of the speech from Alex Frangos of the Wall Street Journal:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin fired a shot at the Federal Reserve in her coming-out speech in Hong Kong today, blaming the central bank for the current crisis and disagreeing with the idea that the Fed should have a greater role in preventing the next crisis. It was an echo of fellow Republican and Texas congressman Ron Paul, who has led the charge in Congress to perform an audit of the Federal Reserve with an eye to eventually eliminating it.How can we discuss reform without addressing the government policies at the root of the problems? The root of the collapse? And how can we think that setting up the Fed as the monitor of systemic risk in the financial sector will result in meaningful reform?” she said. The words ‘fox’ and ‘henhouse’ come to mind. The Fed’s decisions helped create the bubble. Look at the root cause of most asset bubbles, and you’ll see the Fed somewhere in the background.
More generally, Mrs. Palin took the tack that the financial crisis occurred because government got in the way of free enterprise.Lack of government wasn’t the problem, government policies were the problem. The marketplace didn’t fail. It became exactly as common sense would expect it to. The government ordered the loosening of lending standards. The Federal Reserve kept interest rates low. The government forced lending institutions to give loans to people who as I say, couldn’t afford them. Speculators spotted new investment vehicles, jumped on board and rating agencies underestimated risks. So many to be blamed on so many different levels, but the fact remains that these people were responding to a market solution created by government policies that ran contrary to common sense.
On the question of more complex economic issues, Mrs. Palin told the hall filled with bankers and economists, that would come later.Maybe you’re hoping to hear me discuss the derivations of the formula for effective rate of protection, followed by a brief discussion of the monetary approach to the balance of payments. If time allows, a quick summary of factor price equalization. Maybe some thoughts on quantitative easing, but that’s for next time. Because I have spent my life closer to Main Street. That’s what I want to talk about is that view from Main Street.

Update by TR: Vincent Fernando, the person who introduced the rumor that she was invited to CLSA as a prank, doesn't really walk back his initial unsupported assertion but concedes that "she turned it into a success" in the 20th comment to his most recent blog post on the speech.

Good morning all,
Sarah speaks and we listen.
I won't have it any other way.
Can't wait to see the Guv in the lower 48.
No teleprompter.
The best article on the speech so far:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/cameron-sinclair/following-palin_b_295686.html
“They really prepared her well,” he said. “She was articulate and she held her own. I give her credit. They’ve tried to categorize her as not being bright. She’s bright.”
Sounds like it was an awesome speech!!
And Cameron Sinclair was actually there. From his last sentence, I can see he's bonding with Sarah Palin and he's beginning to see that the MSM has not portrayed her fairly.
I also like the first 2 comment posted on the article
Why I picked it as the best is that it really takes off a lot of pride from Hufpo to post something nice about Sarah Palin.
I also like the idea that she went after the GOP too.
Key-word: Common-Sense Conservative
"She's bright" said GoodƩ. Well, Obama just got all wee-weed up!
ummm.....I think O'blabla...is going to be Testy Today...hehehe
Hey O'blabla! What's up with your buddies at the NYT??? Reporting a positive article on "The 'Cuda"... huh?
'CUDA 2012!!...YEAH BABY!!!

There were people who wanted the world to think that inviting Governor Palin was a practical joke. Thanks for the unbiased view from someone who was there.
And for those of you who thought it was a joke, well, the joke's on YOU.

Sarah Palin continues to grow in power, prestige, and popularity. Her influence is now global, her intelligence undeniable
more positive report from wsj:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125368057547633229.html
I was going to flag that last one, Nicky, because it showed a point of commonality, why she decided to choose HK as the debut. I have to admit I was a little concerned with
the early twitters, but she was just getting warmed up.
There looks like a video over at CNN.com on the front page top-right but I can't tell if that is Sarah or not.
I can't access anything.
Some of the early post about Sarah Palin Hong-kong speech had been all negative. For example:
some people walked out on her speech
she took answered to only pre-known questions
the speech was more about Alaska than it was about the USA
Thank God the main stream media has not bought into this early distracters. For me it was really refreshing to read the report on Hufpo by Cameron Sinclair because he was actually there.
Being as I am a Libertarian/Constitutionalist Alaskan resident I already knew that Lady Sarah had Libertarian leanings. The extreme right-wing wild-eyed fire'n'brimstone Christian fanatic label is entirely fabricated by the media and they plaster her with that lie to make her easier to misrepresent and discredit while jamming their tripe down the throats of their audience of sedated liberal sheep. Our Lady Sarah IS a devout Christian and Pro-Life but she does not let her beleifs get in the way of common sense and practicality. This Pagan Goddess worshiper supports her whole-heartedly and sometimes I wish some of her supporters would be a tad bit more aware that you do NOT have to be a Charismatic or a Baptist or even a Christian at all to see her as our nation's best hope for the near future.......
took answered = gave answers
Of course she is bright and smart the woman was a governor of a freaken state.

Wow, much better than I expected from the NYT. I doubt her HK will gain much attention on the evening news as there is no A/V. I can't wait to hear about her next speech.
It takes a lot of steps to get to the White House but let's just say this first one was a global earthquake, after shocks will be felt for months.
SARAH PALIN 2012
I read the whole article, but had to double-check the heading of the link, New York Times?!? This was a very positive piece coming from them. All of the people they quoted were very impressed by the Governor!:) Call me cynical, but I wonder how many people they interviewed hoping to find someone who had something negative to say. It was all positive.
A few comments....
*she spoke from notes....can we assume no teleprompter?:)
*she brought up Reagan and Thatcher!! That makes me thoroughly happy, after all she is their "political love child"
* The NYT said she was "even compelling". I think this was supposed to like they were shocked by this.
* The full article states that someone who said he would never support her said she was "bright".
*The article also mentioned that China should be more sensitive about human rights issues!
* Gov. Palin gives her first big speech after stepping down and C4P has a 600+ comment thread in the middle of the night!:)
I'm very happy to see this!
Mia,
Yes O'blaba will be testy today. Let's see how his speech to the UN goes. Interesting that this story from the AP about the Pres.'s speech states that the Pres.'s inherited problems are now his own. Even the AP is now admitting that.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/23/obama-world-dont-expect-america-fix/
A good, workmanlike speech for an audience that expected some meat.
What was most gratifying was the critique of the GOP. That won't sit well with the Ass Clown Crowd in the Romney and Bushie section, but they deserve it. That's the news of the day, as far as I'm concerned, because that tells me how she's going to run: pure Reagan!
When she said that the GOP needed to be built from the outside in, that was music to my ears.
Well, none of us here is surprised to read that she is bright, articulate and perfectly capable of delivering a wide-ranging, balanced speech.
She didn't exceed any of our expectations, because we know something about her and her capabilities.
The only thing exceeding expectations at this point are positive stories at places such as HuffPo and the NYT.
Sarah America delivers, once again.
eclektiak @7:45,
I endorse everything you said (apart from the paganism, if that's to be taken literally), and you have characterized Sarah correctly, of course.
We busted 600 yesterday! I lost internet or else I'd have waited to have the 600th comment. I broke all the previous records on C4P. :(
Awesome stuff guys. WSJ and NYT both praising her though the wire services were dissing her. I hope this stuff will get her some respect at WSJ) at least if not from the MSM. I hope the video is leaked (even WSJ has a copy) and people get to see it. Or is the MSM keeping it to the chest because they don't want people to see this Sarah?
Looks like a great speech. And already reported positively by the NYT and WSJ.
Lessee now, she puts the "Death Panels" on Facebook just before OMMMMMMMBABBLE'S televised healthcare speech and now she speaks in Hong Kong to an international audience just before he speaks to the U.N....... what is she gonna scoop/trump/beat-him-to next?
overall postitive article by the ny slime. Couldn't resist putting in how she had to resign due to 15 ethics complaints. No mention that she was cleared of all of them.
It's funny that NYT is all, "She did not repeat her death panel claims," when the Twitter account and Bloomberg are both saying she substantiated these claims.
Also, her comments on the Fed are interesting...
On substance she hit every point right. She's shaping up brilliantly and to think this is just the start after just two months of preparation. Think what hundreds of such speeches will do to her and three years of preparation will do. Oh, I'm loving it.
You go girl! Show the world the awesome Sarah we all know and love!
madison,
The one thing Sinclair said he got wrong was his tweet on the Fed, so who knows.
I read the article when it came out, and my jaw hit the floor. A positive, if not glowing article by the New York Times! What is the world coming to?
A snippet from WSJ:
"Mrs. Palin warmed up the crowd with her impressions of Hong Kong, one of the densest urban areas in the world. 'The wildlife to human ratio is different from Alaska, but I could get use to it,' she said."
I'm not at all surprised that she exceeded expectations, as we knew she would.
Although it's not the primary topic of discussion, as a free market capitalist, I'm gratified as hell that she's making a $#!+load of money off this speech, other speeches and the book!
I can't think of anyone who has earned it more than Gov. Palin, particularly after all the endless crap she's had to endure. I want her to be able to provide Trig with everything he will need as he grows up, to comfortably put the kids through college, and to live as comfortably as she desires -- after, of course, she puts in her 8 years at the White House.
And geez, get rid of that Jetta and get something more solid and safe, like a Hummer or a Land Rover or at the very least, an Escalade.
“She didn’t sound at all like a far-right-wing conservative. She seemed to be positioning herself as a libertarian >>
=============
Keep it up Gov Palin LOL
Nice article bybthe NY Slimes. Rare for me to say that. Sarah did a great job in this speech. I hope she leaves a transcript or her thoughts on the trip.
Expected nothing less from the Guv, I'm spoiled. Sarah IMO, set the bar very high last fall and never fails to rise to the occasion. The One and his puppy, whats his name,oh yes Say it ain't so Joe have to be so easy targets for her and they might have an agenda but no substance (shallow). If they lose even a little bit of the BOM its over before it begins. The CUDA RULES!!Thanks for listening ad for what you all do.
"Who is John Galt?"
Been rereading Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" and looking around..... hmmmmmmm.....

On substance she hit every point right. She's shaping up brilliantly and to think this is just the start after just two months of preparation.
*************************
Yes, she is quickly becoming an formidable national figure.
She was parachuted into the McCain campaign. And she was perfect at that time, at least as an Alaskan politician. With greater than 70% approvals in Alaska, she didn't need to grow any further at that time. She was coasting.
BUT, she had to grow into that Govenor's role, and rapidly, and did thatas she had the discipline and the talent.
And she will now quickly grow into a significant national figure as well, for the same reasons - discipline and talent.
Who can doubt this anymore?
ad = and
Sarah Palin HK speech is the most viewed article on CNN. But CNN should be ashamed of itself in headlining the updated article as "Some early exits as Palin woos Hong Kong investors"; the initial appropriate headline was "Palin woos Hong Kong investors". So change it CNN?. Even if people left early, it maybe just 1 or 2 persons who are really Obamabots.
This shared some of the characteristics of the speech she gave in Miami,at the RGA saying the party needs to reform, earn the trust of workers, immigrants. The press scrum and some of the backbiting governors detracted from that.
And Sinclair's tweet might have been wrong but it happens to be true, nonetheless, Greenspan kept the rates unnaturally low, then raised then 18 times, between 2004 and 2006, affecting rate sensitive
instruments like CDO's. That along with the oil spike burst the bubble
and we see the results here. Interestingly, Lehman bet the right
way on oil, while Goldman was supporting the superspike target
I'm hoping that a transcript will come out, but I did have the sense after all the tweets last night (go to my blog for a chronological rundown of said tweets) that Sarah had just crossed over from Alaskan hockey mom to world leader. Just a hunch.
Can wait to read all your comments but I was sincerely SHOCKED to see such a positive article for the NYTimes. Wow!
God Bless Sarah, what a beautiful Lady and the speech was great, fantastic a true American Patriot
Im traveling a week will miss c4p , keep talking about our lady, Madame 45.
Nicky,
The leaving early apparently happened during Q&A time which ran longer than anticipated.
Nicky - thanks for posting the links.
Barbarians - you must check out the WSJ story:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125368057547633229.html
Besides the fabulous photo of our beloved Guv actually taken during her speech (she is, as always, absolutely gorgeous! Note also the small but very visible U.S. flag pin on her blouse), the story is packed with gems, including:
"We got into this mess because of government interference in the first place," the former Republican U.S. vice presidential candidate said Wednesday at a conference sponsored by investment firm CLSA Asia Pacific Markets. "We're not interested in government fixes, we're interested in freedom," she added.
"Liberalism holds that there is no human problem that government can't fix if only the right people are put in charge," she said.
I could add many more. Just read it.
Hats off to the reporters, Jonathan Cheng and Alex Frangos.
Thanks again Nicky for posting the link.
Makes me SMILE big time!
(Barbarian dudes: brace yourselves for that photo.)
eclecticak: Right on.
And I absolutely love that she slammed the GOP. I'm a Republican myself, but just so I can vote in the primary.
That play by play last nite was great. I went to bed at 3:30am and woke up at 7:15 am. Had to read the reviews and I am happy for Gov. Palin everything went well.
Please post the speech Gov. Palin so your supporters can read it.
Sombody on face book should thank Sinclair for the tweets from last nite. His article was great as well. Gov. Palin can get these type to support her now.
So why change it CNN?
I read this after I had posted the comment above, But like breitbart knew what I was thinking and made this verification:
"Two US delegates left early, with one saying "it was awful, we couldn't stand it any longer". He declined to be identified".
http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.5c890613297fae5a68cbf119a882edf8.191&show_article=1
Of course they are Obamabots and we know already.
Only saw her speak in person once during the campaign and she is captavating. The Lady has a presence.
I sure hope she posts her speech on Facebook once she returns to Alaska.
I get soooooo damn sick of the not-so-subtle Charlie-Gibson-looking-down-the-bifocals attitude of the fringe media in describing Sarah suddenly like "well, you know, that lady might have a brain cell after all." Good lord.
Sarah, please post your "Friend of Israel" speech you were supposed to have given last year in NYC.
Post it today to really wee-wee up our "enemy of Israel" president.
On Drudge too ... links to Breibart.
So, getting a LOT of attention.
I am also happy to see her cheeks are coming back again. She's not that thin anymore. Glowing and beautiful.
charteroakie,
The AP article has two more pics. (and no, I'm not linking, I'm going to bed.)
Have a good day watching the reactions. I'll see y'all later.
Hmmmm , the "awful rightwing" line was posted by one of the twitters as a question from the journalist. Narrative builders.

Okay, one link. Here's the Washington Wire with some more complete quotes about briding Alaska to Asia.
briding = bridging.

Nicky,

==========
There was no Q&A
Look, every politician has their detractors, especially at the National level.
I am amazed that the N.Y. Times gave a fair and one could almost say favorable review.
Something could be going on with this below the surface. It will be interesting to see what the Times writes about her future speeches.
Their book review should really be interesting.
O/T
gardunne63,
Assuming that photo is of you (indicating female, an essential prerequisite),
I hereby confirm your status among the Barbarian Babes...
with my humble appreciation and respect for the quality of your recurring comments here at C4P (including the gem "War damn Eagle!")
It's just a matter of time before Lt.Gen. Deputy PEC or First Lord Deputy to the Deputy Brianus Berkleianus will second the nomination.
Wow.
90 Min. speech and positive comments. That guy who said he couldn't stand it anymore is going to look dumb. He was thinking it was going to be the same old make stuff up and now he looks like the only idiot in the room.
All the complaining about Sarah not going to California and other events she "should" go to.
Looks like she was BUSY with a capitol B lining out her agenda, her stances clearly, actually having a plan and not just words. OK Newt, how did she do sribbling out a few notes on a napkin on her way there?
Is that good enough for ya?
Way to go Sarah. I am so happy. Please continue your plans to position yourself for a POTUS run.
Any bets on how awesome and intelligent her book is going to read?
She knocked it out, a grand slam!
And some were worried she lacked heft.... Carl ROVE!... sounds like damn good scrachin' on that note pad... 90 min. at that!
Re-birth of the republican Party... amen!...amen!
FROM OUT SIDE WASHINGTON!.... know what that means RINOS?... and want to be rinos. Your time is up!
Sarah, God bless you!... I can't stop saying it...God Bless you!
Im ecstatic!... absolutely overwhelmed with pride and joy for Gov. Palin!
uffda,
Thanks for the tip. I will check out the AP story also.
Sleep tight.
WSJ said they reviewed a recording of the speech?
Where can we get that!!!!
bestbud - amen to your amens.
I'm ecstatic as well.
My God, what a treasure she is.
Lipstick,
if your going to direct scorn it should be directed at the correct person i.e. rove not newt ;)
John Galt,
I'm just repeating what Sinclair's tweet said: "Folks walking out on palin as she's running over Q&A time." Unless he meant something else. Take it for what it's worth. I'm going to bed now, bye.
I think she should slowly ease out of the Alaska stuff. She's a national leader now, no need to keep bringing Alaska up.
I'm feeling really sick, "ah-choo, cough, sniffle, ache-ee, etc."
Me: "Doc, I feel like sh**. What should I do ?"
Doc: "Stay home for two days and read everything you can about Sarah Palin's trip to Hong Kong.
Do that and you'll feel better in no time.
If you can gaze on a couple of new pictures of her, you'll be immunized for at least six months"
:-)
lol drudge has palin-love (4 articles plus a pic)
We see that Schueneman is a good fit for her, one of the few McCain staffers worth a darn. Talk about fearless she denounced China's role in perpetuating Zimbabwe and
Sudan's misery on it's front porch.
Stood up for Taiwan, Huntsman's gonna have a long day today.
I wish I had the time to read every article and every comment here! ARGH!
but GO SARAH that's GREAT hearing such praise from some UN-worthy places like HUFFPO which Nicky I'm still almost too angry at them to give them ANY of my business!
Great news of which we all here KNEW she'd hit a home run!
baboon:
Yikes. Your right. My apologies. Rove was the object of my rant!
I'm sure Newt said something I wouldn't like. ;)
I am not picking but I wish the guv would have wore her hair up rather than down. I am NOT telling her how to dress etc, just she looks a little more stern to me with her hair up.
I don't think a few people leaving during the Q&A time is a big deal. They may have been doing it for political effect. Or maybe they had a flight to catch, conference call or something. Many people there and just a few left. No big deal. Did anyone feel the need to tell her "You lie" during her speech? Well, there you go.
schueneman and kristol are buddy-buddy and now that i think about it this is probably how she got her name signed on in that letter to obama over afghanistan (still i'll reserve judgement over schueneman since his past leaking in the campaign is not good even if it was against the anti-palin staffers).
Wow. The WSJ article is great too!
As far as the CNN headline is concerned, they are notorious for headlines that misrepresent the story or focus on a "negative" of an event.
It seems like it was an excellent, articulate, and intelligent speech, as we all would have expected. :)
Of course, it will leave us thirsty to hear more of what she will have to say over the next 3 (or 11) years, but let us sit back, and enjoy the snowmachine ride!:)
Awesome! And some people still think she's not going for POTUS! For now Sarah is playing this perfectly, laying low, not risking overexposure, choosing her spots wisely, and brilliantly prepared when she does. A POTUS in the making. America's President. And I say this because she's connecting with Middle America in a way that Obama can't. Just wait 'til Hurricane Sarah hits the lower 48! Barry's head will be spinning wildly.
Over at Instapundit, a quote from an audience member:
I attended Sarah Palin’s speech at the CLSA conference in Hong Kong. Hopefully we will.
Now that's what I'm talking about.
More Palin, please.
Gov Palin is correct about what she said concerning the Fed.
Though it appears that she did stop short of saying that she supports Ron Paul's bill to have the Fed audited. However, my guess is that she does.
baboonking,
The anti-Palin McCain staffers fired first and repeatedly before Scheunemann rallied to her defense.
I see that as an unmitigated positive for him.
McCain himself didn't step up to defend her until a long time afterwards.
My concern about Scheunemann (and Kristol) is the neo-con bent.
But again, I trust Sarah implicitly.
Frau Lipschtick (:-), guten morgen!
I vote hair down, but I admit I'm a biased male of the species.
Either way, she's magnificent.
I hope Sarah got $300,000 bucks for that speech. She is worth every penny.
How many people who had never heard of that group know about it now? I bet there were no cancellations on who was attending as well.
She obviously delivered for these people and earned her fee.
Bill - LMAO.
That's the right prognosis and the right cure, for sure.
C4P, why no pic yet?
Neo Con stuff was a product of its time. The cold war over, US was the only superpower, China n India didn't rise, Russia was quiet and suddenly 9/11 happened, so those people dreamed big and descended into battlefields with big ideas. Now the limits of US power have been established, primarily the biggest limit is the Democrats, they can't go back to the old ways yet.
Scheunemann n Kristol are good policy analysts and they know now that they have to clean up after Obama mess, so it will be a different variation and scripted with Sarah's inclinations a new version of foreign policy will emerge to suit the new problems of the day.
is it just me or was that NYT article positive?
also, did Palin forget the apologize for America? Just kidding! Sounds like she impressed a lot of people, can't wait to hear more about it!
Charter:
Yes, hair down for hanging out and less formal events. But her hair up is kind of her trade mark and to me she looks more stern, serious and yes even Presidential.
Don't get me wrong, she looked great. Although I don't see her like you do since I'm a gal (I won't bring up from last night how DUMB it is that if Sarah is in dark and cold Alaska all winter living in the same house with HUNKY Todd Palin and being his wife and all that she would decide to have a separate bedroom, good grief Levi, how lame! Much warmer when you are snuggling;0)
Anyway, I was not critizing, just making a little opinion statement. However, the Guv did not ask me my opinion.....yet. ;)
Cavuto is going to be talking about Gov Palin on his show today.
She is very clever, she starts with the folksy, 'golly gee' tone,
that one saw in the primary with Knowles, and then much like a Momma
Grizzly comes up swingin' by the end.
I admit I'm beaming a bit hearing the good news from other sources on Sarah!
It's only human to want to proclaim to the WORLD
I TOLD YOU SO!!
but I won't
just yet (heh)
Hot Air so far has ignored Gov Palin's speech but posted a puff piece on McCain by Dr. Zero
Here is a big newsflash....I am no Obama fan at all.
But Sarah showed much class by not saying anything bad about him. She is CLASS all the way. I am sure Todd gets an ear full. But is public, it is Red White and Blue American all the way.
One thing I noticed is she did not have her blue star pin on. With Track state side now is she no longer able to wear it? I need a military guy to answer that for me.
PEC??? Bill in B????

Here's a little snippet of raw video-audio of her speech.

China's climate plan upstages Obama at U.N.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/sep/23/chinese-climate-plan-upstages-obama-at-un/?feat=home_headlines
I agree with Lipstick about the Governor's hair. Honestly, it looks kind of "mullet-ish". However, that is my only criticism--constructive or non-constructive.
The speech seemed to be absolutely fantastic. It's interesting how we know that her speeches and writing will be great, yet we are always blownaway by them.:)
I bet you that everyone who heard that speech today is thinking "American's are so stupid". And not for apologizing to other countries, or spending trillions we dont have, but for NOT electing Sarah Palin!
I'd tend to agree with them. I would also like to prove them wrong in 2012!
Sounds like another excellent speech by the Cuda and was well received by those who attended. I could not be happier for her. I sure hope we will get to read a transcript or better yet listen to her entire speech.
And the New York Times gave a nice report. Who would have thought?
Beehive,
Thanks for the snippet!
Someone please pinch me. Am I Awake or dreaming.
“She was articulate and she held her own. I give her credit. They’ve tried to categorize her as not being bright. She’s bright.”
This from the NYT? WOW.
The article in the New York Times was good and that worries me. I don't believe it is because they couldn't find anything bad to say. In the past they just made up the bad. I didn't read the Huffington Post, but if that is good then I definitely think they are up to something. Perhaps they are helping position her for the 2012 only to turn on her when she is up against their candidate. I'm usually not paranoid--but something just doesn't feel right here. If Letterman starts praising her then we know somethings up! They might have found a new play book to go by.
FOX blasts Gov Palin's speech quoting every opponent of her's at the speech that they could find.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/23/palin-performs-speech-hong-kong/?test=latestnews
Allahpundit just tweeted about Palin's speech and had a link to the WSJ article. That usually means he'll post on it soon (headlines section)
Great news I'm hearing!
When we first heard of the CLSA speech, there was the short list of those who have spoke in the past. All those people had been on the World Stage for years before they got here. Sarah has been on that stage for barely a year before she made it!
Also, there has been the talk about, yea she is popular with Middle America, but. Well, this is stating the obvious, this wasn't Middle America audience. Top bankers, investment gurus, and the like, mostly from Asian countries - theoretically a much tougher crowd. Looks like she did as well there as here!
wisetrog @9:38 - good question (pic), and sensibible analysis (neocons / foreign policy).
Lipstick,
Yeah, I was certain you wouldn't want to bring up that stuff about her hunky husband and "get a room" etc.
Glad that you were able to contain yourself here this morning.
I agree, hair pinned up is her trademark look and may connote a more professional, authoritative appearance to some. I see that Whitney agrees.
It's OK with me, too. She always looks great.
But hair down and pursed, rouge lips...
Yowzah!
(Get back to work, CharterOakie!)
I think this speech will change the whole direction of the MSM towards her. Oh, they’ll still try to destroy her, but Quitter, Irrelevant, stupid, Unqualified, Dumb etc. Are all out of the window. It’s going to ne all ideology, issues and politics which IMO is a good thing.
September 23 2009 can go on record as the day the MSM has accepted that Governor Palin is a “serious” (emphasis added) presidential candidate.
Welcome Back Governor
CharterOakie....Ciao Bello....
Here's a first video of a portion of the speech; not very good quality, especially sound, but have at it:
http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.5c890613297fae5a68cbf119a882edf8.191&show_article=1
Spoke too soon. Fab photo is now up.
Thanks, Doug and C4P editors!
Y'all are the best!
Charter:
Easy, easy!!! Focus, focus....
NO not on that...on your WORK!
Now I'm really confused. The New York Times writes a very positive article and Breitbart writes an article that paints her in a bad light. What is going on?
Fox bashing her? God, the Romney channel is worried.
Mia, ciao bella! Buongiorno!
ChartieOakie,
"Assuming that photo is of you (indicating female, an essential prerequisite),
I hereby confirm your status among the Barbarian Babes...
with my humble appreciation and respect for the quality of your recurring comments here at C4P (including the gem "War damn Eagle!")"
Ahhhh, gee thanks! I'm honored to even be considered.
Thanks again!
Interesting that the ones who bash her in that Breitbart article are all US delegates. The foreigners, who approached this with an open mind, came away impressed. The US delegates, just by their comments and actions (leaving during the speech and calling her "right-wing"), showed their hand; they had no intention of listening with an open mind.
Matt Drudge & Andrew Breitbart - gosh, if these two right-wing gentleman keep teaming up, they will definitely rule cyberspace and set the headlines for politicos in 2010 & 2012.
Doesn't hurt that they are consisently two of Sarah's biggest fans on the 'net.
I KNEW THAT THE WORLD WOULD LOVE IT! Sorry, I just had to get that out.
Last night when we were blogging those tweets, I just kept thinking...
"These Tweeters are leftists. They follow Van Jones and Obama and Rachel Maddow. And their tweets make her sound like she's knocking it out of the park"
@Whitney
What is interesting about her hair choice is that it is a very popular style in China right now. I'm not sure that investors will notice the difference, but it is still true.
Okay now back to what is happening in America as we speak. Its not looking good at all.
Orszag Sees Health-Care Law in Six Weeks, Praises Baucus Plan
Sept. 23 (Bloomberg) -- White House Budget Director Peter Orszag said health-care legislation can be completed in six weeks and may largely be based on a measure being drafted by the U.S. Senate Finance Committee.
“The goal would be, yes, over the next six weeks or so, maybe sooner,” Orszag said in an interview yesterday as the finance panel run by Montana Democrat Max Baucus began the first of three days of meetings to revise the measure.
Lawmakers have been struggling with legislation that would cover tens of millions of people who lack insurance and tame health-care costs, the top priority of President Barack Obama. Baucus’s committee is still dealing with the issue about two months after four other panels drafted bills because he tried unsuccessfully to court Republican support.
While the White House hasn’t endorsed any one plan, Orszag, 40, repeatedly returned to the $856 billion proposal Baucus released last week when asked about the overhaul effort. He said it “definitely” shows “you can devise a health-reform bill that significantly expands coverage while doing so in a way that is not only deficit-neutral” but “deficit-reducing,” citing a review by the Congressional Budget Office.

“In the end, though, our economic relationship will truly thrive when Chinese citizens and foreign corporations can hold the Chinese government accountable when their actions are unjust.”
Amen
Hair should be down, totally down, not semi-pulled back, just down. Always.
I noticed that the only two semi-critical articles of her speech, one posted at Breitbart and the other at FOX, are identical.
Breitbart:

FOX
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/23/palin-performs-speech-hong-kong/?test=latestnews
It is a strange world we live in when the NY Times and Bloomberg have more positive coverage of Gov. Palin than FOX and Breitbart.
CharterOakie...ummmm...Sooooo..You thought the 'Cuda looked bellissimo???
You were very vague in your description...\sarc/ ;)
*slap*
Thanks, Lipstick. I needed that!
(Gonna be difficult, though, now that Doug posted that photo at the top of the page.)
Breitbart is using the Fox article. Although the article isn’t that bad, they start up by saying she was brilliant. I think the reason they bring up the US delegates is more for the reason to show how un appreciative those two were rather than to bash Sarah nevertheless I sent them emails to have a look at NYT, WSJ I think others should too.
She represents for lack of a better word, "The American Street"
call it the 'silent majority', the
real mainstreet coalition.
Are we now becoming fashion critics? If that’s the case, well that’s way out of my expertise. Up down who cares as long is she does what she does she can do whatever she wants with her hair.
The two who walked out did so during the Q and A, not during the speech, as the article suggests.
great work, you guys. you are the best!!!
Breitbart has the NYT article up.
Regarding hair......guys, we are not talking about what you prefer on your screen saver.....but instead what will do the most good for the Guv's image and to help her OVERCOME how beautiful she is to be taken seriously is what us gals are talking about.
You can drool over her hair down anytime you want....but when she is "at work" she needs to be taken seriously. I am not saying a beautiful woman cannot be taken seriously, the guv has been wrongly portrayed as dumb, blah blah blah. So down playing her beauty and gorgeous hair is a good stragegy for her.
Now Todd Palin????? That is a TOTALLY different topic!
Well, BigGovernment.com
Who cares if the two walked out? I don't care if 50 walked out.
You can't expect everyone there is Pro Palin.
C4P Administrator
Why can't you send the POND SCUM FUNGUS called hank to a keyboard free zone in his fantasy liberaland. His posts are NOT FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. It really bothers me to have to skip over his inane comments to get to really intelligent conversation from more highly evolved human beings.
He's just taking up blog space and serves no useful purpose. He should be permanently eliminated.
Whit...Good AM...Left right after that comment...I have feeling... The Walking Middle Finger...has Ballet Boy buying some Fish today....LOL!
This may not go over well at but I suggest we e-mail SarahPAC and ask them to PLEASE post the speech. It is just a suggestion.
We got to remember that all those quotes come from people who were inside, there is no transcript, yet, or video and like us everyone in the media is basing their reports on attendee’s feedback.
Those people are serious people and not many waste time with the media it is usually only those who try to get a little attention by criticizing her that would answer media questions, and with what we have seen so far if this is the best they have, PALIN WAS BRILLIANT!
I think we will start hearing more in later days when those investors get home and start doing TV appearances where they are asked O/T questions re the Palin speech.
Also without a transcript the MSM can’t say much either so they are writing based on the information they have.
Maybe the progressive-left media have decided to show Sarah in a positive light, now that she has again called out the Beltway GOP, and believing that she will cause trouble for the GOP (but ultimately be "unelectable"), and 'Fox and friends' see it the same way?
Hmmm.
As I said yesterday, Sarah Palin can win the presidency and humble both major parties in the process. Not easy, but possible. She's probably the only one on the national stage who could pull it off.
Send an email to newsmanager@foxnews.com and let them know how you fell about this negative article posted at foxnews http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/23/palin-performs-speech-hong-kong/?test=latestnews

If this has already been posted, I apologize.
From NYT, regarding Fred Malek's take on Palin's speech:
"Fred Malek, one of her chief allies in Washington, told the A.P. that Ms. Palin’s decision to step out on the speaking circuit had little to do with burnishing her foreign policy credentials and more to do with paying off legal bills."
Article here -it's at the bottom.

Like I mentioned earlier. Those two that walked out...two??? As in One, two???? Good grief. Who cares.
No one felt the need to yell "You Lie" during her speech, so there you go.
Palin is in Hank's head.
The more you spam here the more I know she bugs the hell out of you.
I love it!
I am not surprised that she is getting a cool recepetion on Breitbart, FOX, etc and better reviews frm NYT, WSJ, etc.
She seemed to slam the GOP as much if not more then the Dems. This is going to go over better in some circles than others.
All... chill out about loser Hank. He's getting deleted. Look at the bright side we could have 20-30 trolls infesting the thread. One bad apple is easy to control.
Neal Cavuto emails:

Have a look at the video on Breitbart. Some guy says that since the financial crises began we’ve been hearing how the USA is finished, She had it different she was positive and explained how the US will get back and for some people that is a better option.. watch it you’ll feel good. Even some Black guy who is definitely not a Palin fan was impressed
http://www.breitbart.tv/first-video-sarah-palin-explains-main-street-usa-in-hong-kong-speech/
Maybe the "word" President Obama gave to China was: "Sheisinmyhead."
Mia, you're the one of Italian heritage, so you would know, but I'm assuming it would be "bellissima" (fem.) in reference to SP.
Lipstick,
I take her seriously, believe me. Very seriously. She is seriously wonderful in every way.
------------
Hank the Crank Yanker's 'contributions' being expunged as we speak.
Allah @ Hot Air just posted the AP article in the headlines
Or the "word" could have been: "mommy".
I was wrong on the weight gain.
defend is right. The Beltway elite snobs are not going to like Palin regardless. They will tolerate her at times, but that is it.
Frankly, if the elite snobs liked her I would probably not. The GOP snobs need to get on board or get left behind. I think they would rather stay their snobby selves in a Marxist American than get behind the New Reagan...Sarah Palin.
They can kiss my low class, state schooled, working class, Texan rear.
"Word" to China: "Depends"
She did well.
Her job was to set herself out as a libertarian conservative and, what's more, to make a contrast with the Bush Republicans, who are basically the flip side version of the Obama Democrats.
Palin wants no part of the Bushies, for obvioius reasons, since she gets that we are living through the Third Bush Term.
In foreign policy, she still remains a bit too interventionist for my taste, but then again, if her interventionism tends towards Asia and the Pacific, I don't quite mind. The less we have to do with Europe, the better, imho.
even if only HALF of her facebook blogger friends really LIKE her that is still over 400 thousand (only on facebook)
what about all the elderly that NEVER use the net like my MOM who all ADORE HER!
Hank is the fringe he projects about!
reuter's coverage was the usual hit piece complete with beauty queen and quiting and ethics charges (that relates to her speech?):

The Fox & Breitbart article is the official AP article, so my guess is they just posted it prior to having their own internal article written I would wait to till the end of the day to see if Fox updates. Though we should still email Cavuto as Jane Suggests
BTW, gardunne63,
You're most welcome. Keep those comments coming.

Lipstick - what's your point, Todd should let his hair down, too?
Isn't it grand that such a washed up, stupid, quitter who has no grasp on any issues whatsoever can stir up such a blab fest over a private, invitation only, no press allowed speech?
Can you say POWER without a TITLE??
http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2009/09/23/palin-sounding-like-ron-paul-takes-on-the-fed/
On the question of more complex economic issues, Mrs. Palin told the hall filled with bankers and economists, that would come later.
“Maybe you’re hoping to hear me discuss the derivations of the formula for effective rate of protection, followed by a brief discussion of the monetary approach to the balance of payments,” she said. “If time allows, a quick summary of factor price equalization. Maybe some thoughts on quantitative easing, but that’s for next time. Because I have spent my life closer to Main Street. That’s what I want to talk about is that view from Main Street,” she said
Now Mia! I've got enough distractions to deal with, what with all the coverage of Sarah's speech (and did I mention the photo?).
Please don't make it worse.
Ciao bella.
Charter:
You make me laugh! No Todd should just keep being a great father and supportive husband. And keep looking hot riding that snowmachine like he stole it!
I am really surprised the MSM headline isn’t
DELEGATES LEAVE PALIN SPEECH IN PROTEST!
Out of 1500 people in the room 2 people (Americans may I add) leave the room and they get attention, amazing isn’t it.
Once again Allahpundit has shown his distaste for Palin by posting the crapola AP article on HA. The guy just can't get past his dislike of Palin and the need to drum up hits.
ShermanCT:
LOVE the quote from Palin's speech. She is a great voice for main street, yet I am sure she could understand all that stuff you said.
Sarah said:
"all the moms and pops all over America."
- Peggy Noonan's head just exploded . . . last fall she chastised Sarah for even saying "moms" and "dads", now it's "pops"
ha ha ha ha, love that gal
Bello...We Babes...know how to distract...It's in our DNA...;)
@Hal
I don't grace HA with my presence anymore. I can be found everywhere but there.
You can't claim conservatism and then slam a true conservative time after time.
HA isn't worth my time or my traffic.
Some quick thoughts.
The Fox and Brietbart articles are from the AFP (Agence France-Presse) news agency. The French version of the AP. With that in mind, we should be thankful it's as positive as it is.
Drudge and Brietbart are both right-leaning libertarians (pro-gay marriage etc.). The distinctly libertarian tone of the speech may explain why Drudge listed the full gamut of post-speech articles.
Any fears that Sarah Palin was being co-opted by the (cue Phantom's organ) NEOCONS was laid to rest by that speech. If she runs, it appears she will do so as a total outsider. A pro-military, libertarian leaning reformer.
Forget Petraeus, if he runs it'll be in '16 or, perhaps, as.......Condi Rice's V.P. in '12.
The Bushies, desperate for a return to power, are going to pressure her to run and I think she might.
If so, who knows what Sarah will do. Regardless, Sarah's got it made now (financially) and if Rice doesn't run, I think she'll get the nomination.
Over the next year the world is going to see the true Sarah Palin, and the media's cartoon-caricature of her will wilt away. That I'm sure of.
Lipstick,
The comment section in that article has the libertarians creaming their pants. Gotta love her!
Fellow C4Per's
Sorry that my first post of the day was so negative about Troll hank but I woke up to a horrible nightmare scenario. I guess my tv remote was in the bed last night and I must have rolled over onto it. I woke up to some interview of Michael Moore about his movie about capitalism. It was the most horrible awakening of my life.
But don't worry. I'm better now. Had my coffee and have Beck's radio program on. He's about to talk about Sarah's speech and the NYT article.
Fox is just upset because she is channeling their name by acting "crazy like a fox".
By the way, per Nancy, I just got news that President Obama is single-handedly bailing out the adult incontinence industry.
Wow!! i'm loving reading all the positive responses to the speech. She stepped up big time. She is exactly the leader this country needs right now to get its freedom bearings back. Thanks so much Sarah Palin! Keep it coming.
OMG the NY Times article was actually positive and in fact had people praising her speech!
Even the Guardian, which is practically the Communist Party Paper, has a decent write up, yes it has snark:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/sep/23/sarah-palin-speech-china
I am so happy about this talk. What a winner! I liked the WSJ article; mostly they quoted directly from the speech. I'm excited.
From our friends at Texas For Sarah Palin

Early reaction to Sarah Palin's Hong Kong Speech
Catherine Yu Yeun Chen posted the following on Sarah Palin's Facebook page:
"I have really great news, a friend who attended the Forum where Mrs Palin made the Keynote Speech at the CLSA Investor's Forum, just while ago, said: Sarah Palin was received with the biggest round of applause it took 3 minutes at least before she was able to start her Speech and that the Speech itself was brilliant and astute and that she took China to task aggressivaly but without been offensive or rude, and she answered many questions brilliantly and smartly after the speech itself, and she was looking beautiful and relaxed and again received a standing applause, but my friend can not tell me anything about the speech-address, it is CLSA rules, and it is up to Sarah and the Organizers to decide whether the speech will be available for public reading."
cont. on link
http://texas4palin.blogspot.com/
Stephen Spruiell at National Review Online "The Corner" links the NYT article.
"Contrary to speculation that a Hong Kong brokerage invited Sarah Palin to speak at its annual conference as a tongue-in-cheek joke, Palin's address appears to have gone quite well:"
Sarah Palin America! That is what we're talking about!
AmeriCuda,
Again, props on the name!
Very interesting comments. I agree, the quotes from her speech on foreign policy that I've read thus far do not sound like she has been unduly influenced by the (cue Phantom's organ) NEOCONS. (Nicely done, btw!)
So, maybe SP has co-opted the neocons instead?
(Maybe Kristol, Scheunemann et al. can no more resist those luminous brown eyes and pursed rouge lips than I can.)
-------------
John Galt - thanks for posting that snippet.
So what to make of those blowhards at Corner who fell for the lefty trick that it was all for a joke?
Money Quote:
“We’re not interested in government fixes, we’re interested in freedom,” - Sarah Palin, September 23, 2009
They're beyond hope over there, Lowry has really run Buckley's cruiser right onto the shoals
Glenn Beck is talking up Sarah Palin in the third hour of his show. Really positive stuff.
Sarah is so smart! That Fed stuff is for the Ron Paul supporters, who have been VERY negative toward her.
The Breitbart article is from the AFP, which is always VERY negative toward Palin. I wish they would link to somewhere else.
Fox seems to be doing everything it can to get a BO interview. They've gone very negative on Palin on their website.
Wish I could see Cavuto today, though he seems to take the "amused grandparent" attitude toward her. Kinda' humors her just for show. Can C4P please post the interview or a link when it's available?
Hot Air picked up the AP story.
Does Michelle M. have some cat jealousy?
Can we get Glenn Becks segment on Sarah's speech up here later today. He had a significant block of time devoted to her today.
FYI- Tammy Bruce said yesterday she planned to cover Sarah's speech and she is a huge Sarah fan. You can listen to her at talkstreamlive.com She starts at 2pm eastern, 11a pacific.
ShermanCT,
It seems as if someone was channeling her inner Reagan with that quote!:)
Palin is the anti-Obama!
Exhibit #193
I just heard the 11 o'clock radio news break and they led with BO at the UN saying "When I was elected last fall many in the world had a bad opinion of the U.S." etc. etc.
Still apologizing for the Big Bad U.S. And presenting Himself as the Savior of the Meanie Weanie U.S. Ughh.
bestbud-"Re-birth of the republican Party... amen!...amen!
FROM OUT SIDE WASHINGTON!"
Damn right "Amen"! Hope this puts the 3rd party whackos, who are the only people who can keep this guy from being One Term O, back in their cages--including Beck! Reagan's her model. Not "The 9/12 Project" crap. Heard Levin putting Beck down throughout his whole show yesterday without naming him. Agreed with every word. He's a dry drunk opportunist, and I hope like hell Sarah keeps her distance.
Ameicuda-Condi Rice?? Not a snowball's chance in Miami. If Sarah wants the Nom, it's hers. A lot of sound and fury 1st, but it's hers. Only a personal blunder can stop her, and she doesn't do that.
Funny, the Fox News ticker said that a Limey attendee called the speech "Brilliant" and an American "Delegate" called it "Awful" (lol). How many shills does this punk have?! Their boy's going DOWN--and a certain Alaskan lady's going to do it!

OMG,
I just caught up on a few comments (it's almost lunch hour, he he)
and I think I'm getting sick . . . really need to get home . . . antidote = read C4P comments all day long . . .
:-)
Lighthearted banter aside, lest any new readers here at C4P get the wrong impression as to the cause for my enthusiasm for Governor Palin, I believe that I recognize her intelligence and her executive and leadership ability about as well as anyone can who is not an Alaskan resident.
Just wanted to be clear about that.
John Galt: Michelle's the owner of HotAir.com but I think she pretty much leaves those guys to post what they want. They (Michelle, AP, Ed) openly admit that they don't always agree but have a mutual admiration/respect for each other. I think she concerns herself more with her own blog at MichelleMalkin.com .
How anyone but a Muslim supporter can have respect for AP is beyond reason.
