Governor Palin Takes President Obama to School
President Obama could learn a thing or two from Governor Palin.
The president is in my state, the state of New York. In fact, tomorrow he will be a mere 35 miles from where I live as he speaks at Hudson Valley Community College.
Today he made media round after media round, causing some to wonder if these plethora of appearances are too much of a "good" thing.
The New York Daily news reported:
Obama will push his health care reforms on five morning news shows today, an unprecedented presidential feat that has stirred debate over whether Obama has hit the point of overexposure.
[...]
Obama's decision to hit five network shows today - ABC's "This Week With George Stephanopoulos," CNN's "State of the Nation," CBS' "Face the Nation," NBC's "Meet the Press" and Univision's "Al Punto with Jorge Ramos" - is known in media circles as "the Full Ginsburg."
It is so named after William Ginsburg, who in 1998 became the first person to hit five shows in one Sunday as the attorney for White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Hillary Clinton later did it when she launched her presidential bid in 2007.
Obama is the first President to even try, which just underscores his comfort level with the medium, experts said.
Comfort level? Hmmm...Well, apparently he's not too comfortable with one particular media outlet, and that would be Fox News. It appears he's still pouting that they are not cheering, fainting, and getting tingly leg sensations at the mere sound of his voice. Therefore, he won't give them the time of day. For a president many tout as a brilliant politician, why has he thumbed his nose at the cable news show that leads all others? An L.A. Times article called "Top of the Ticket" stated:
Latest ratings out for the second quarter of 2009 show the top-rated FNC having one of the best quarters in its entire history with prime-time ratings jumping an astounding 34%, not all of them Obama fans. That 8-11 p.m. slot is crucial for viewers -- and ad dollars -- which includes Fox's showcase "The O'Reilly Factor."
Throughout the viewing day, Fox News did even better with its 1.2 million viewers, on average, more than doubling CNN's 598,000 and more than tripling third-place trailer MSNBC's average audience of 392,000.
With the resistence of the American people to accept President Obama's Health Care Bill, one would think it a "brilliant" political move for him to have swallowed his intense dislike for the cable news channel he's always dissing and to have capitalized on the advantages of granting them an interview. Instead, didn't he dodge an opportunity to reach across the aisle, show he is not the ultra-partisan president he has been accused of being, and stand up to the hardball questions he would get from Fox that he would likely not get from other media outlets? GOP lawmakers said yes.
A handful of Republican lawmakers, including Rep. Joe Wilson (S.C.), say that President Barack Obama is ignoring a large segment of the public by refusing to appear on Fox News.
Obama is scheduled this weekend to appear on every major Sunday talk show except for “Fox News Sunday.”
Fox News, which is considered more conservative-leaning than ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN, confirmed Obama will not be interviewed on its network on Sunday.
Wilson, who was reprimanded this week by the House for his outburst at Obama last week, said that by excluding Fox, the president was not being fair.
"If people are going to be on the Sunday talk shows, they should be on all of them,” Wilson said.
[...]
Freshman Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) said that the White House’s media strategy is an example of the president not living up to his promise to change the tone in Washington.
“The only thing this shows is that the president is ignoring a very large segment of this country. He said he was going to reach across party lines and be a different kind of president, but so far he hasn’t followed through with real action,” Scalise said.
Some House Democrats saw nothing wrong with Obama’s decision to forgo Fox.
Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) said that it has become clear “which networks are really fair” while predicting that the president will eventually appear on “Fox News Sunday” in the future.
So President Obama chose to appear on "really fair" networks while ignoring the likes of Fox News? Well, how interesting is that. I say the president has a lot to learn.
Rewind to the 2008 campaign. People can say what they want about the McCain camp throwing Governor Palin to the wolves when they allowed the likes of Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson to have at her. Both Couric and Gibson had an agenda. Katie couldn't get past the abortion question and Charlie played a gotcha game with the Bush Doctrine question. Prior to both interviews, the McCain camp clearly knew that the interviewers were in the tank for Obama. We can go round and round about that decision, but there's one thing that stands out about the McCain camp as I consider that the President of the United States refused to appear on Fox News even as he seeks to win over the American people on health care: At least they didn't hide. I don't know why they refused to sit her down with Bill O'Reilly but instead sat her with Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson. But I do know she went on.
I also know that when she returned to Alaska after the election, she invited Matt Lauer into her home and let him interview her. She didn't hide.
I know, too, that upon her resignation announcement in July, Governor Palin didn't shy away from Andrea Mitchell but while fishing granted her an interview. Again, no hiding.
The bottom line is that Governor Palin, demonstrating true leadership, has neither run away nor been shielded from those who have not exactly been in her corner. President Obama, on the other hand, has almost every media outlet in his back pocket, and he wouldn't even rise to the challenge of the one "fair and balanced" one that was sure to ask him the toughest questions--questions to which Americans want honest answers. He's not even campaigning anymore(or is he?); he's already got the job. And he's not lying about health care, right? So what's the problem?
Maybe he'll answer that question while he visits with David Letterman tomorrow night. Surely that'll be a tough interview.

Again, another great post, Adrienne! Of course Gov. Palin can school President Obama, just like any good point guard!:)
It's amazing how much the Obama administration whines about Foxnews and its supposed bias. They argue that the people who watch them are radical right wingers. If this is the case, wouldn't you want to try to persuade this group of citizens who would mostly likely be most opposed to his plan?
You mentioned the Obama interview with Letterman tomorrow. I wrote a LOTUS post about this earlier today:
http://thelotuslaptopoftheunitedstates.blogspot.com/2009/09/top-10-things-that-liberals-do-not.html
A real journalist, Governor Sarah Palin, has asked him pointed questions, repeatedly, and she gets called a liar. But he has yet to answer any of her questions.
Whitney the Pipsqueak,
I just went over and read your post. Very clever indeed!
Adrienne...Great Post!...."Chicken"... comes to mind...
To me it proves... O'blabla is insecure...
A One Hit Wonder...
Going on David Littleman...DISGUSTING!
Maybe he's thinking, I'm not gonna give Fox the satisfaction of making me look like a fool!
Great post, Adrienne! True, he already has the job, so what is he afraid of.
This post pretty much sums up the comparison between Gov. Palin and Pres. Obama in a nutshell! One could even extend the metaphor to the way they have each conducted their political careers thus far.
President Obama, as we know, hid inside the Chicago machine, then ducked behind a well-crafted facade to slide on into the White House. He continues this trend with his use of only the most friendly media outlets.
Gov. Palin, of course, has consistently and continually jumped out in front of pack, taking whatever hits may come, without a thought to what she might have to endure in the process.
The Courageous versus The Cowardly. The former will win every time.
suffering from major sarah palin withdrawls.
Adrienne,
I saw what you tweeted @The_LOTUS. :) I love when you pull in the basketball analogies in your posts! If I remember right from a comment thread a while back, Gov. Palin, you, and I all have something in common. We are all former high school point guards!:)
Just call Governor Palin, the bus driver, because she just took Obama to school!:)
Doesn't he ever just stay in DC? I've never seen a president who liked to continue the campaign almost a year after it was called in his favor. That a pathetic lout.
OT, Sarah Palin's Facebook numbers have been growing at the rate of 1,000 per hour for the last several hours. Yahoo headlined the Politico story about her Facebook, and it was also featured on Hotair. As of now, the number is 885,228. Don't know how long the upsurge will last, but even if it lasts through tomorrow she could top 900,000, and be in a good position to hit 1 million before too long.
Time and time again, Sarah has shown that she has bigger ones than any of the competition.
One notices that she gaveinterviews
to Lauer, Blitzer on two instances,
Snowe, Mitchell,(who followed Shannyn Moore's false trail of bread crumbs)O'Donnell, but not
Maggie Rodriguez, or Katie Couric.
And I remember the first time I came here, how the email records showed the whole row of press availabilities that were cancelled
by the McCain campaign
Excellent article.
The differenc between Sarah Palin and obama is the Sarah Palin has courage, and obama does NOT.
Maybe he wants Fox News to give him he questions in advance, so he will have the answers ready. Could it be that he wants to submit his own questions so he will appear to be intellegent. Maybe he is paranoid, and he thinks Fox is out to get him, to trip him up, to make him look bad. I think he is afraid he won't know the answer to the questions, and so to keep from looking foolish he chooses Not to go on Fox New. For being a president he sure is a wimp.
Sarah has more courage in her little trigger finger than obama will ever have in his entire lifetime.
Too sad that he is suppose to be our prezzzz.
When's the next facebook update? Those are always fair and balanced.
The hosts at Fox News are a "death panel" for President Obama.
Oooh Nancy,
I like that! And so true!
I think Fox would not be as hard on Obama as the fringe media will be on Sarah when she hits the circuit after her book comes out. At least I expect her to make the rounds. She appears to be afraid of no one, but would it be wise to do MSNBC or The View?
It amazes me that Obama refuses to appear on Fox News. I am surprised because I know he would handle himself very well. Now, I am not saying he would be entirely truthful, but he is a master at packaging himself, and while he may not change many minds, it might score "cajones points" with some of the independents.
favorite moment of the day: Steffy reading the definition of "taxes" to the prez
worst: hearing for the umpteenth time "former" Governor Palin. Complete lack of respect, and don't think Sarah don't know it either.
can hardly wait till i can say "former" president obama
Remember she did all these appearances as presidential running mate and governor.obama is The President of United States .Childish.
Adrienne "Barbarian Babe Boss" Ross - Another great post. I hope Sarah is watching this site for speech writers and campaign staffers. Smart, articulate, supportive, no tie to the sewer within the belt way that only do it for themselves. As an Ordinary Barbarian, once Sarah's career is over you go back to your life (well NY could use a solid US Senator or Congreewoman). For that matter you could move to Georgia and replace one of our 2 useless US Senators.
LT - The FoxNews issue may be two fold. It is known there were staging and editing rules with the other Networks and the Obama/Bill O'Reilly interview was a staged event that O'Reilly had to cave on rules to get. Obama could have said any question that embarrassed the President would be edited and Fox may have said they couldn't do that. They played softball with no followup questions.
Oh Sarah not running to every camera is helping her with setting the rules. Andree Mitchell who hates Sarah was not her snarky self when Sarah did the interview in remote ALaska with the only way out being the Palin family. Andrea probably decided to leave her snarkiness at bay as there are a lot of bears between where she was and civilization if she had to walk.
I was thinking...O'blabla on Todd's fishing boat...
Do you think O'blabla has the stomach to take the waves??? hehehe...
Wait!...I think I just heard a Retching Sound...:)...:)
Adrienne,
Thanks!
And thank you for another excellent post!
I think President Obama will let his guard down with David Letterman. I think he knows Dave will be drooling all over himself, to be in The One's presence. And he will get the immediate feedback from the audience, just like during his Jay Leno appearance. He likes to hear people laugh at his jokes, and he'll overstep the line, in some way. Also, these two are bullies, especially it seems when it comes to "The Prominent Politician". I will be very surprised if Dave does not get a dig in on her, and President Obama not stepping in it.
When I think about the fact that even Ms. Bertha from Acorn had the nerve to appear on Fox, after all their nonsense, while Obama wouldn't, well, it just speaks volumes.
Attended the final Seattle Storm game of the year. They were blown out in Game 3 with the LA Lakers.
"worst: hearing for the umpteenth time "former" Governor Palin. Complete lack of respect, and don't think Sarah don't know it either."
Panchita, where did you hear this? On the news today?
Bill - I think Sarah will be making the rounds on Foxnews, probably the Today SHow and then local media. Sarah knows how to handle Matt Lauer. She can do a quick speech at every book signing place.
Tommy: Listen to msnbc if you have the stomach. A Sarah story will come up. One of the "newscasters" will inevitably insert "former" Governor Palin.
Tommy Report,
You mean the LA Sparks. So you're a WNBA fan? I love it! Until a few years ago, I had dreams of playing in the WNBA. I was the biggest Houston Comets fan. There will never be another dynasty in the WNBA like the one that existed when it was: Kim Perrot at the point before she passed away, Cynthia Cooper at the 2 guard spot, Sheryl Swoopes at small forward, and Tina Thompson at power forward Then they had an assortment of people playing the 5--didn't matter because they were too good, with Janeth Arcain coming off the bench who would easily have started on any other team. They won the first 4 WNBA championships! I can't believe the team folded. Sorry...I got off on the basketball topic!
The way he acts, if and when he has to face her in a series of debates! Oh my gosh! I am laughing just thinking about it!
What is she 5' 4"? She is so much more of everything, than he will ever be! She will control the moderator and him, just like she did with Gwen Ifill and Joe Biden. That was tragic, that there was only 1 vp debate last year. She was so ready to go around with him as many times as she could get her hands on him. I guarantee their camp was wiping their brow, sighing, whew! Thank goodness we only had to debate her one time!
Is it wrong that I pray, I can see those debates, someday?
Oh, no need for Sarah withdrawals today. HEr son is likely home and so she is on cloud 9 right now. I think you really need to put this in perspective. A friend in my Church husband just deployed (yes it is just as rough on mothers) and she about broke down and was talking of how she has had breakdowns of just crying. Deployments are so tough on family members. This is one of the things the media is not going to recognize because they don't experience it. If they did you would not have heard any VVS garbage.
I flashed away from the unpteenth airing of Law & Order, and I caught
Alexis Witt, trying to insinuate something about her poll rating having to do with her resignation and/or Levi's mewlings
http://www.politico.com/blogs/michaelcalderone/0909/Friedman_jumps_to_the_front_of_the_influence_list.html
Link above tells us obama played a leisurely 5 hour round of golf with liberal idealogue thomas friedman.
When was the last time obama went to church anywho?
Not that I'm counting.
Adrienne,
You were that good? Where did you play in college if you mind me asking?
I wouldn't say that I'm a fan but I appreciate the role of the WNBA. I worked for them on the events staff when I was freshman in college.
I think the league is experiencing some major financial difficulties right now. There need to be major changes or else they'll be facing a tough situation five years from now. There is no way a franchise like the Comets should fold.
PEC,
Thank you!
Nancy,
Yep, I expect David Letterman will make a joke about Gov. Palin. I have a feeling it will involve the words "death panels." The president will try to take the high road, I think, but then again, he can't seem to resist talking about her.
Narc,
Today? The only MSNBC clip I saw today was Witt actually saying the reason why Palin didn't attend the VVS was because her son was returning from iraq. It was a quick report of the VVS straw poll and Witt felt it was necessary to tell people why Palin wasn't there. I thought that was a good move by Witt. Here's the clip:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/32937624#32937624
Adrienne,
I think it was the summer of 1998, I got to see the Clevland Rockers play the Houston Comets. Sheryl Swoopes was hurt, so I didn't get to see her play. Seeing Tina Thompson and Cynthia Cooper play was pretty awesome though!:)
narciso - Levi is a has been. His Vanity Fair piece was so over the top liberals as well as conservatives ran from him. Nobody gave him any credeence. Young kids like this with nothing but a stack of lies eventually go too far over the top and lose their credibility. The ADN tried to give it some credence but I think when they turned around and saw the liberal MSM not with them they quickly realized they too had played their last card.
It might have come from another spokesperson, If I was wrong, I apologize
The Letterman thing sounds stupid to me. A full hour? IS this a joke? Does this guy know he is Pres of the US? Does Letterman see how one sided it is to favor one side. Will Letterman do what any good comedian would do and make fun of his guest? Sorry, great writings on Facebook are a lot more Presidential.
Narc,
But was the segment you saw today?
It's obvious why Obama sues tther Networks than Fox. He wants to spread the wealth (ratings around
sarc/
Good Night!
Well Barbarians I am calling it a night. Something for tommorrow, has anybody noticed a certain editor has not been around in a while. Cross your fingers Barbarians and pray. I know what I hope has happened and deep down I think other ones feel the same.
PEC,
Are you kidding me? He is going to be on for a full hour? Unless Dave makes him go out and try to parallel park a car, or drop things from the roof, this will be a snooze fest!
Does he realize he is The President of The United States, and not an actor promoting the series premiere of The West Wing.
Yes, it was, it was after the straw poll. I think he watched too many episodes of the West Wing, and thinks Josiah Bartlett is the way to go.
Whitney the Pipsqueak,
I saw the Comets Houston play in New York. I was sitting there with my Comets' jersey on. The crazy thing was New Yorkers are not very friendly to the opposition, so Liberty fans were talking smack to me after the game. I didn't care; I was just that kind of fan. I talked right back! It was fun.
I absolutely loved Cynthia Cooper. I got to meet her twice, once when I took the varsity team I coached to meet her and hear her speak, and I have two pictures with her and a couple autographs. I used to videotape every Comets game and play, stop, rewind, play, and study Cynthia Cooper moves. Then they became a part of my own game. I would have to say that, although certainly not as much, she is the only other person who comes in the general vicinity of the respect I have for Governor Palin. I just had so much respect for her integrity, and she was the greatest, even with incredible personal obstacles to overcome(having to play overseas before there was a WNBA, her mom having cancer and then dying, her best friend--Kim Perrot--getting cancer out of the blue and dying before the end of the season).
I also attended the first ever WNBA All-Star Game and met some players there, got autographs, took pictures, etc. I was a basketball addict, to be honest, and played non-stop.
Tommy Report,
I played high school ball in Queens, NY, but I punked out and didn't play in college. I was intimidated, to be honest. But there was no WNBA then, not until I was in my late twenties. I still hoped to play, to get a shot at it. I went to one WNBA Fantasy Camp--paid $500.00 to go to that 2-day camp! I decided, probably when I hit about 33 or so, that it wasn't the plan God had for my life. So I just continued to play for the joy of it and to coach others--and outplay and outrun the high school girls' varsity team I coached. I had to settle for winning two conference championships and being state-ranked as a coach. Not too bad, though. My current dream: play Sarah Palin one-on one.
PEC,
At the risk of sounding out of the loop, I gotta ask: what should I be praying for? Sometimes I need things spelled out. (I'm so ashamed!)
So, the president was on TV today? huh.
Adrienne,
Wonderful article. Thanks for taking the time to contribute here.
Basketball - Adrienne, no offense to the Guv, but you would kill her on the court. I was a point guard too, but 7 years older than Sarah. Despite her being a runner and all, at 45 and of slight build, you would demolish her if you played physical with her one on one. To be fair - play her a game of H-O-R-S-E . Call me protective. :)
yeah, i'm trilled to see what traffic on the northway will look like while he is in town. I didn't know the author of this blog is local to me. are there any other conservatives in this area? i missed all the tea parties in town cause i was out of the loop.
I personally am glad Obama doens't go on FOX...there has to be at least one place of refuge from the man!
Also, I agree that Chris Wllace isn't going to do an O'Reilly and let him get away with a non challenging interview... I don't think Wallace would sit there and not say a word when Obama said he didn't know ACORN was getting that much Federal money!
Penny,
You sound like Sarah's dad who basically seemed to think my age gave me the advantage. The challenge with playing Sarah will probably be her quickness and stamina. Her quickness would put some defensive pressure on me, but I would have to rely on an assortment of moves. She and I both are probably as competitive as anyone, so it would be quite a battle.
Dirtycrow,
I missed the local Tea Parties, too. I was hoping to get to D.C. and was so focused on that I missed the ones right under my nose.
Traffic in Troy is going to be crazy, for sure. I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere near there.
Lots of Sarah on the Emmy's tonight.
Whenever they had SNL nominated for something they would show clips of Sarah when she went on there...
Not sure if SNL ended up winning any of the big ones but at one point it felt like a steady stream of Sarah Palin and Tina Fey clips lol
Just Saying,
Were they light-hearted Sarah comments?
Adrienne, now of any other conservative gatherings in the area? yeah, my commute goes from C.P to latham. but still it's bound to mess up traffic all over. soo glad he is not coming up north to malta like was the original plan.
Dirtycrow,
Sorry, I don't have any information about conservative gatherings. I would imagine there are local Republican clubs in your area, though.
with all this talk about the height of the distinguished ladies here, it brought up the fact that Mrs. Palin is five feet four and one half inches. Would she be our shortest President ever? No, the second shortest. James Madison was 5'4".
Great job Adrienne,
Real good piece.
sarah rocks 2012
indemind,
Thank you.
I know that they got a fair amount of notice, from Tina Fey's snide comments last week, during the ceremony. Sarah brought a touch of class to SNL, that didn't deserve it.
Adrienne,
Have you been 45 years old yet? I have. Numerous rolled ankles from basketball tend to haunt - I know. Besides, all you would have to do is back her down to the hole, score. Repeat, repeat, repeat. H-O-R-S-E would be more fun for both of you and I bet you would have a better chance of getting her to agree to play.
Thanks for putting me of the same mind as Mr Heath though - I take that as a complement.
Adrienne,
I didnt hear any comments...but its funny because i guess they can't get enough of using the Sarah clips tonight lol
ha! they just showed another one(from when she was doin that bit with Alec Baldwin and Lorne Michaels)
Two questions for Obama:
Is this part of the president's job description?
What did the other presidents do instead of speeches, interviews, beer summits, news shows, comedy shows, etc.?
From Big Government.com
Andrew Breitbart released new article which goes into detail about the NEA scandal and Serve.gov and promises new explosive information to be released a noon EST tomorrow. Remember that the NEA received large amounts of stimulus money.
Adrienne, Whitney The Pipsqueak, Penny, et al:
Love all the hoops talk! Seems that many of the Barbarian Babes happen to be former point guards. That indicates a true leadership role, just as we see in Sarah Palin.
My basketball interest is long and deep. In 1981, I founded the 7UP Shootout at old Kiel Auditorium in downtown St. Louis. The event later became known as the Coca-Cola/KMOX Shootout and regarded as "the premier high school basketball event of its kind in the nation." Shut it down in 2007 after 26 years as the executive director. Last season 50 St. Louis Shootout alumni were playing for NBA teams. Over the years we had such future NBA All-Stars as Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Alonzo Mourning, Kenny Anderson, Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway, Amare Stoudemire, Chris Bosh, Antoine Walker, Rasheed Wallace, Allan Houston, Michael Finley, Stephon Marbury, etc. The lineups also included 10 high school teams that went on that season to be declared national champion or national runner-up, and 76 teams that eventually captured their state championship.
Mainly high-flying boys' teams in the event, but, yes, Barbarian "Point Guard" Babes, we had at least one girls' game in the mix starting in 1992 with two-sport All-American (basketball and volleyball) and future Stanford University star Kristin Folkl and her St. Joseph's Academy Angels from St. Louis. The next year their 72-game winning streak was stopped in The Shootout when they lost to powerful Shelbyville (Tenn.) Central, led by All-American Consuella Sparrow.
More than 274,000 fans attended the event over the years. Lots of on-site national media coverage including ESPN-TV and USA Today; one year even The New York Times sent a nationally-syndicated columnist out to St. Louis to cover the event.
Adrienne, love your post again tonight. You are such an excellent writer with great insight.
Hope you haven't retired for the night because I will close with a Sheryl Swoopes story. My brother was the sports editor of the Abilene (Tex.) daily newspaper for 15 years. Sheryl grew up in a very small town not far from Abilene and within the coverage reach of the newspaper. One time he was at her high school while the boys' team was practicing, except there was a girl playing full-court with the boys. She was just an underclassman then and he didn't know who she was.
He asked the coach, "Why is that girl practicing with the boys?"The coach said, "Well, that is Sheryl Swoopes, and some day a whole lot of people are going to hear about her. You see, a year ago, I walked into open gym and saw her playing full-court with our boys. After watching her consistently dribble down the court faster than the boys could keep up with her without a basketball, I knew she was something special!"
Of course, Sheryl went on to lead Texas Tech to the NCAA Women's Championship with a lineup of almost all small-town Texas girls.
Whitney, one of my favorite Illinois high school girls' teams: the Taylorville Lady Tornadoes of 1996-98 (not far from you in Springfield).
Would enjoy talking hoops with any of you at a later time. Must head to the sack now.
why not glenn beck? I would love to see sarah give an interview with beck on healthcare.
O/T Why are people saying Tina Fey didn't win the Emmy? I thought she did!
From Scott Miclaels at Entitlement Syndrome: "Much of Palin’s life story is the stuff of Old Hollywood scripts and Frank Capra-esque film treatments. At the least, it certainly would serve as an outstanding example of how Americans and their families – big, boisterous and rumble-tumble as most are — are normally celebrated." One of my all time best film makers Frank Capra. He made ordinary Americans feel good, in bad times. Sarah Palin makes ordinary Americans feel good too.

You are right it is hard on the family...I saw my grandson leave for Iraq...and was there when he returned...there are 3 things I remember about his return (1)My heart broke for him because his other grandmother had died while he was gone...(2)all the families were in a big building at Ft. Hood TX. and they were about an hour late...all the family member were just walking around talking...and someone came on a loud speaker and said "the plane has just touched down on Texas soil, they are home" that was in late 2005 and I still have a hard time with it...they are home...
The third thing I remember about that day is after all the hugs with my grandson...I went to get something to drank...there was this tall soldier (big guy)standing there he had tears in his eyes...he looked at me and said "I have know one here to meet me would you give me a hug" (was going to another state)...I gave him a hug...what would you have done...
Governor Palin Takes President Obama to School
Final Exam: Nov. 2012
But CLSA, an arm of French bank Credit Agricole, decided to close Palin's session to the media after the former Alaska governor indicated that she would have to adjust her speech if reporters were present, Slone said.
"We are very pleased with her attitude towards us. Sarah could have come here and made a media circus," he said.
"But we said to her, 'Look, we want you to give the most information to our clients. Do you feel comfortable doing that with the press around?'
"She said, 'If I do that with the press in the room, I will have to say different things.'"

Penny,
No, I have never been 45, but I am not far off. After having numerous ankle, knee, and achilles problems, I do know what you mean about the body saying, "Hold on now!" I am not as young as some think, and being a multi-sport girl put some wear and tear on this body! LOL! Sarah is in much better shape, although running takes a different kind of stamina.
H-O-R-S-E? Maybe one day. Nonetheless, it was fun joking with Mr. Heath about it all.

When the lovely Governor was first introduced and I began to read up on her life, character, and accomplishments, the first thing that occurred to me was "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington." Her story really does seem to be one written for the Golden Age of cinema.
Unfortunately the Golden Age died long ago, and any shreds of decency with it. Despite the historic significance of her VP nomination, not one peep for Sarah on any of the so-called "women's cable networks". Yet right after Sonia Sotomayor is nominated Lifetime does a special on her. Disgusting hypocrites.
Hollywood is dying. We should hold back our tax dollars and finally put it out of its misery.
Adrienne,
I read Cynthia Cooper's autobiography in high school, and it was very good. Her story is pretty cool.
Wilsonpickett,
I think I remember that Taylorville team. Did Alison Curtain play for them? My family had season tickets to the Illini women's basketball games, and she played for the Illini for a while. She was probably one of the best defenders I've ever seen play the game.

I'm not a sports girl. Never was, never had been. However, I like running, alone, with music. Biking too, when it's nice out. (That doesn't happen much in Michigan!)
Adrienne-
What we're praying about is hoping that RAM is in the Palin camp RIGHT NOW and that's why we haven't seen her for a while. Hopefully that's the case :)

Yo, Adrienne!
Sorry to be so tardy today. Busy.
Another great post. You are a very talented writer; I enjoy reading your posts every time.
Send your cash or check to SARAPAC ..... hahahah.
Why would the POTUS grant a news interview to a network that isn't a news network?
Fox is a sham.
At least Letterman is entertaining. BTW, how is that
