What Governor Palin Brings to the Table
No, I'm not talking about food, though I'm sure moose chili is very delicious. I'm talking about what Governor Sarah Palin brings to the table for America.
Gov. Palin has a proven track record of success when she served as Governor of Alaska by first ushering in sweeping ethics reform (which was later maliciously used against her by several ankle-biting attention freaks). She then got the ball rolling on the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA), with TransCanada and ExxonMobil finally winning the license to build the pipeline. This gas pipeline had always been talked about in Alaska for years, but no elected official in Alaska really cared enough or took the time to get the dirty work done. Governor Palin rolled up her sleeves for the pipeline all the while shrinking government control of free enterprise and private persons in Alaska.
Getting government out of the way to let business thrive is what Governor Palin is all about. She still does all that she can as a private citizen to ensure that government growth is slowed and eventually reversed. Have you seen her Facebook notes? She has quite a few that have caused a bit of a stir.
Governor Palin knows how to prioritize for the present and for the future. She does this to eliminate wasted time and money. Time is money. This is a very simple concept, yet so many politicians in Washington still don't get it and never will. Have you seen our national debt lately? Just yesterday it was hovering at $11.8 trillion. Yes, that's trillion...with a T.
So let's see where we are in America. Unfathomable debt? You bet. In danger of having socialized medicine forced upon us? Check. Still dependent on foreign oil from countries who can't stand us? Yup. All this is happening while our troops are fighting the global War on Terror. Remember that 9/11 thing? Yeah. I'm looking at you, women of the View, Katie Couric, and all other countless Obama voters who try not to remember that turning point in American history and the thousands of innocent lives lost.
So where am I going with all this? Governor Palin, should she decide to become a national candidate again someday, can help this nation and the GOP get back on their feet via her strong work ethic, leading by example, and simply connecting with voters and Americans. It's about making an emotional connection. No Greek columns or rock stars needed.
Doctor Zero, an excellent writer over at Hot Air, has posted a piece regarding what the GOP needs to do to rally together to form what he calls "The New Contract with America."
Doctor Zero writes:
The task for the Republicans is to both excite and reassure the public. Average folks always say they want “change,” but they’re understandably nervous about massive upheavals. They won’t be eager to hop off the Democrat log flume and jump right onto a Republican roller coaster. A well-reasoned agenda, backed up with resolute common sense, will go a long way toward convincing them that the fate Obama had in mind for them is neither desirable, nor inevitable.
Common sense? Governor Palin has plenty of it, which is why many on the left and some on the right can't stand her for it. Just remember to KISS (keep it simple, stupid).
I hope the new Contract With America features massive reductions in government spending as a centerpiece. The government must release its death grip on the private sector.
As stated previously, Governor Palin knows how to run a ship on a tight budget. She brings the common sense factor to the table, especially when she says that when you're in a hole, you should stop digging. That's no-nonsense right there, and it's something America could use a lot more of in times like these.
The Republicans should pledge to hold regular, well-attended meetings with their constituents, and promise that both supporters and dissenters will be kept safe, and respected. This is a long, slow pitch over home plate, and it would be foolish not to knock it out of the park.
Again, Governor Palin would be a fantastic fit for this role. It would be hard to imagine a GOP speaking circuit without her on it. Speaking to Americans face-to-face is where she thrives, and since Governor Palin's now officially on the speaking circuit, I bet she jumps on the first opportunity for a town hall event. She is one Republican who I know will understand people and look them in the eye - she won't talk down to them.
Doctor Zero finishes his piece with a final point:
These ideas, and many other worthwhile proposals, must be expressed in both practical and moral language.
All I have to say to this is...have you seen Governor Palin's Facebook notes? Practical? I think so.
It's a whole new ballgame for the GOP right now. Obama's ratings are at all-time lows, and people from all parties are miffed at the health care bill dangling in front of them.
The GOP needs to step up to the plate, load the bases, and hit a grand slam with America. Governor Sarah Palin can (and I believe will) get things started out right for the GOP in time for the next election cycle. It can be done!
Will the rest of the team follow the lead-off man's example? For the sake of our country, I hope so.

Are you kidding? GOP stepping up for Palin?
wisetrog:--
You're looking back, not forward.
Palin is in a league of her own; uniquely qualified and positioned to lead -- the GOP will inevitably go to her. No one has what she's got!
She's gonna have to drag them forward with a snowmobile, equipped
with a cowcatcher
Why oh Why does Ben Smith print stuff like this?

Doesn't he have any respect for himself as a reporter and wasn't he just burned by the China hoax?
Here's an interesting take, don't be put off by the title:
Why I love Stupid Sarah

Sarah's the one to do it.
It remains to be seen whether the GOP bosses and their media mouthpieces will come to their senses and accept the gift that is Sarah Palin.
The party needs Palin more than Palin needs the party.
We, the people, want Palin. That's the decisive factor.
narciso - LOL
Excellent post, Julie!
"Governor Palin knows how to prioritize for the present and for the future."

What has always impressed me the most about Gov. Sarah is how future-focused she is! She forward funded education, and she put budget surpluses into savings when oil prices were high.
She actually cares a heck of a lot by the amount of debt our nation is incurring and recognizes the effects that such "dizzying debt" will have on future generations.
She believes in America becoming energy independent because she is looking to the future and is one of the few in politics who recognizes the link between energy independence and national security.
She recognizes that nationalized health care leads to a complete government takeover. Did anyone else notice that the Reagan quote she used in her closing statement at the VP debate was the same one he used in his socialized medicine talk?
"It was Ronald Reagan who said that freedom is always just one generation away from extinction. We don't pass it to our children in the bloodstream; we have to fight for it and protect it, and then hand it to them so that they shall do the same, or we're going to find ourselves spending our sunset years telling our children and our children's children about a time in America, back in the day, when men and women were free."

Michelle Bachmann has stepped up to the plate.

The GOP needs to push for school vouchers on a nationwide basis in order to get their kids out of the public school system.
They need to have more Conservatives enter the Universities as teachers across America.
As long as the left has control of education the radical socialists and communists will only grow in number and power over the generations.
Even the Muslims know this as they push to have Islamic friendly texts introduced into our public education system.
America's future is at stake and our children are our future. Unless we can find a way to keep children from being brain washed by the left and Islamic ideology in the school systems and Universities any gains made in the short term will only face reversal in the intermediate and long term.
School vouchers and Conservatives teaching in Unversities are the answer to saving America in the intermediate and long term
Julie,
Great post. If the GOP loads the bases for her in 2010, she'll bring them in with a grand slam of her own.
Wherever she sits will be the head of the table.
Even if Churchill were at the table.
:-)
apologies to WC
This is what our children, grandchildren and future children will face unless we get them out of the public school system.
Remember, Hitler built up a whole national force of Nazi children in the German public school system. Obama is following Hitler on this.

Obama’s classroom campaign: No junior lobbyist left behind
By Michelle Malkin • September 2, 2009 05:02 AM
My syndicated column today digs a little deeper into President Obama’s September 8 speech to schoolchildren. The school guides now featured front and center on the www.ed.gov website were developed by the White House Teaching Fellows — a group which includes several activist educators as you’ll see below.
Downplaying academic achievement in favor of left-wing radical activism in the public schools is rooted in old neighborhood pal and Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers’ pedagogical philosophy. It was the Chicago Annenberg Challenge way when the two served as board members of the educational foundation — and it is the Washington Obama way now.

Julie,
Excellent post, thank you!
Funny article from AT. Zeke is mad at Sarah.

"I'm talking about what Governor Sarah Palin brings to the table for America."
She's a 1/2 term governor for a redneck state that doesn't have enough people to qualify as a large city.
She's through in politics. I sure she make some nice money, ala Limbaugh, lying and scaring the teabaggers into voting against their own best interest.
But that's it. She's finished in politics. And I thank God for that. Pretty frightening that someone as ill informed and dense as Palin got anywhere near national office.
Yep, but she's gotten the Senate, the Obama Interior Department, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and
Exxon to agree with her.
John,
Dear boy or girl, whatever the hell you are, only time will tell dear he/she, only time will tell.
Now get a hold of yourself dear he/she.
Yes, absolutely, Palin/Bachmann 2012!
Between the both of them, they've got more cajones (and smarts) than the entire GOP combined! Yes, more cajones.
Gov. Palin has a proven track record of success when she served as Governor of Alaska by first ushering in sweeping ethics reform (which was later maliciously used against her by several ankle-biting attention freaks).
You're contradicting yourself. Much as I like her, and hope to see her in the White House, in hindsight it must be apparent to everyone that her "sweeping ethics reform" was rather too sweeping. In a way it's good that she has been hoist by her own petard; it should teach her in future to be more careful when reforming things.

Ben Smith is a jerk, he goes out of his way to trash Sarah, I wouldn’t worry about that article, for starters it’s coming from Levi, the media uses him but they don’t take him serious. So far he’s given 10 different reasons of why Sarah resigned.
John,
Keep telling yourself that she's incapable and finished in politics. You might succeed in convincing yourself, despite all evidence to the contrary.
But you won't persuade us.
Now go back to wherever you crawled out from. Otherwise it will be time to turn on the record player again:
"Bang, bang RAMmer's silver hammer comes down..on troll's head! Deet-de-dee-dee"
I'm beginning to wonder if our friend John is really a closet Palin supporter in disguise. His comments are nothing but regurgitated trash talk that's already been repeated over and over, and he has to know it doesn't put him in a good light to be shrill when the other side has the momentum. Perhaps he is really a Palin supporter trying to give us "locker room" material???
John,
Was it fun reciting that in the mirror?
GOP + (Step-Up!) = 0... does not mathematically equate!
Sarah + (the folks) = infinite possibilities!
Greg,
thanks for the link@Sarah
Sarcasm!... an effective tool!
Sarah's can insert and twist the Sarcasm knife... all the while smiling and calmly "reading you your rights".
Regarding this article:
I say, Uh huh, uh hmmm, yep, yea, ah ha, well, "YOU BETCHA!" :-)
