Alaska: God's Country - Sarah Palin

Hello, C4P! I just got back from spending two weeks in Alaska. While there I filmed nearly six hours of HD footage. Here is one of the videos that is a product of that footage. It's a video on the beauty of Alaska---a state which Governor Palin appropriately calls "God's country." And being born and raised for eight years in Anchorage, Alaska I can personally confirm that sentiment.

During the 2008 Election I was surprised at the misconceptions and false ideas many people have of Alaska. While it does hold true to its reputation for having snow, tundra and glaciers, Alaska is also a land filled with lush, raw and stunning beauty.

With narration by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, I hope that this video will give you a glimpse into "God's Country."

All Alaskan footage in this video was filmed by me on location using a Canon Vixia HD HV30.

Post Script: I would like to start something of a C4P tradition. Every Monday, I will feature a new video about the Governor but videos hopefully made by you, our readers. We'll call it "Media Monday." Please submit your own videos (or videos that you've seen and like) to me at thealaskancowboy@gmail.com

Thanks for your constant support of the Governor!

Hello fellow Sarah fans. I just found a blog that is dedicated to following Sarah on a daily basis. I think we, her supporters, should go to the blog often and leave our thoughts and comments there in support of her. http://alaskadispatch.com/blogs/palin-watch

Thanks! Good job!!!

riley4palin, October 6, 2009 2:32 PM

Well done Seth! Absolutely breathtaking views of the state!

I hope the Governor will hire you for all her youtube videos in the future - especially when her book is released so that she will continue to completely bypass the mainstream media. I would love to see her do weekly chats with her fans about anything that is on her mind overlooking the beautiful state of AK.

P.S. One request regarding your video. Any chance at 2:52 you can add the following caption: "Hey look, its the Governor taking good care of Letterman once and for all!" :)

Nancy, October 6, 2009 2:42 PM

Good thing that bear got sidetracked by the fish, or The Bore In The Woods would have been done for! I thought I caught a glimpse of his tennies scurrying out of the frame.

Beautiful video.

manajordan, October 6, 2009 2:44 PM

Wow Seth! Thanks so much for sharing that. It must have been hard to leave. What a beautiful state.

Bravisimo, Seth!!! You never cease to amaze me with your videos, including this one. The footage with the bear with the fish in it's mouth is my favorite. :^)

jimr3,
Thank you for the Bore in the Woods video, again. I was laughing out loud! Oh man!
I just noticed in the Bore in the Woods video, that the bear actually looks bored! I think Governor Palin was actually putting the bear out of its boredom misery, not saving The Bore from the bear!

Whitney the Pipsqueak, October 6, 2009 3:01 PM

I look forward to watching this after work. I'm still impressed by Governor Palin's love of her state and how much she spoke and still speaks of Alaska. Although I'm sure Illinois's beauty does not compare to Alaska's by any stretch of the imagination, its people and history are pretty amazing. I wish President Obama would speak with even a small fraction of the state pride that Governor Palin did and does.

Great video Seth...Just Beautiful.

sarah rocks 2012

Mia, October 6, 2009 3:15 PM

Bestbud, October 6, 2009 3:40 PM

SETH, WOW! Appreciate your effort.
I know my Mondays just got better.

You left out one important thing.... Did you see Sarah?

redneckgal, October 6, 2009 3:40 PM

Seth, That was beautiful! From God's hands to her heart.

GAHanson, October 6, 2009 3:48 PM

Great video, two of natures gifts to the world Alaska, and Sarah Palin.

BTW, Mitt's book is now #379,122 at amazon, having dropped from 54,000 a few days ago. Looks like the only people interested in are Mitt and his family.

Bestbud, October 6, 2009 3:52 PM

Im sorry for your state, that is one thing Bush always seemed proud of, his growing up in West Texas and of course meeting Laura in Odessa.

Still waters run deep, maybe on day he will be still.

tim c, October 6, 2009 3:56 PM

It was good but I felt a little too close to the bears. HDis awesome.

Sheya, October 6, 2009 4:13 PM

Seth, WOW just WOW. Amazing job. I want to go to Alaska. You should sell this to the Alaska tourism Board

cudaforever, October 6, 2009 4:20 PM

Awesome Video Seth. I went to Alaska during the Summer and it was even more beautiful than advertised. Sarah doesn't lie it is "God's Country" !!

Anonymous, October 6, 2009 4:35 PM

Beautiful footage--and mixing of Governor Palin's comments. Thank you!

It is God's country.

Sapwolf, October 6, 2009 4:36 PM

Dynamite video Seth. Keep it up. We need those important skills of yours over the coming years. The bears look cute, when they are not running you down and smacking you. :)

Bermuda Bob, October 6, 2009 4:43 PM

Most excellent, my kind sir!

I have an idea. We drop all 535 members of Congress in God's country. The ones that find their way back here to D.C. get keep their jobs until the next election! :-)

Bill in Baltimore, October 6, 2009 4:44 PM

remember, you don't have to outrun the bear.

you just have to outrun your hiking buddy . . .

Recovering Democrat, October 6, 2009 4:47 PM

Incredible video, Seth. You are amazing. What are you, some kind of professional photographer? :-)

Two thoughts: Loved the Coldplay... that was Coldplay, right?

Also, couldn't help but contrast Sarah's description of Alaska's natural wonders with Boy Wonder's hollow gibberish about Chicago's melting pot in his pitch to the IOC.

Chicago needed Sarah to be the pitchwoman. I'm sure she would have actually conveyed useful and interesting information instead of vague platitudes that could be spoken of any city in the world.

Neo, October 6, 2009 4:50 PM

HD and Full-Screen on a 22'' monitor and it streamed in just perfect.

AWESOME

I live in Washington (State). We have some of the same scenery and wildlife, in our Cascade and Olympic mountains, as Alaska, but not nearly on such a grand scale.

Recovering Democrat, October 6, 2009 4:53 PM

Whitney, that's the exact thought I had. I just watched Obama's presentation to the IOC. What he said about Chicago honestly could have been said about any big city "melting pot." He said that in Chicago, he finally found a home, but it seemed like it was more about love of himself, than love of Chicago.

Bermuda Bob, October 6, 2009 4:58 PM

That being the case, make sure you take me along. I can't run to save my life.

CliffNZ, October 6, 2009 5:26 PM

Great video! Beautiful shots. Thank you.

BetseyRoss, October 6, 2009 5:33 PM

In 2006 my husband and I went on an Alaskan cruise for 7 days. We saw and did so many amazing and wonderous things. Alaska does indeed appear to be God's Country. We would love to go back and go further north and and do the land tour. Seth, it looks as if you went to many of the places we saw.

terri, October 6, 2009 5:38 PM

Whitney,
I've always aid that I'd wished that my governor spoke of Illinois the way that Sarah spoke of her beloved Alaska. You can hear it in ger voice just how much she loves that place.
Wonderful video Seth...you are a lucky guy!

Bill in Baltimore, October 6, 2009 5:38 PM

Bean Counter, October 6, 2009 5:39 PM

Bravo, Seth! Simply beautiful. Like Neo, I watched it full screen in HD on a 23" monitor. Just breathtaking. Outstanding job! Can't wait to see more.

terri, October 6, 2009 5:39 PM

Boy, typing fast sure leads to typos...:-)

terri, October 6, 2009 5:44 PM

Oh, and whitney....
Obama should have showed the olympic com ALL of Illinois. People may not think so but it is beautiful in it's own right. The leaves are turning now and since I live in the middle of farmfields, the driving can be breathtaking....I can really hate living in illinois per say, but I also love where I live. This also is God's country and can take your breath away some mornings. Too bad he rest of the world won't be able to see it.

Jane Austen, October 6, 2009 5:54 PM

Perfect! Any bets? ;)

Jane Austen, October 6, 2009 6:00 PM

Seth- there are no words. I think I'm going to have to buy a summer home in Anchorage/ Wasilla when I'm older. I'm not staying in the winter!
God totally spent more than 5 seconds here. He probably spent like 5 minutes.

Jane Austen, October 6, 2009 6:02 PM

I'd like to contribute my videos, but because I'm so afraid of the internet/people I don't exactly know, I can't send them to you. However, they're on my site (itotallyheartsarahpalin.blogspot.com).

hrh, October 6, 2009 6:10 PM

I thought Coldplay, too, but Seth lists the music at the end and that wasn't it ...

ChillinInMN, October 6, 2009 7:20 PM

Wow Seth! You are so talented! My favorite part is the grizzly resting its head and that close-up of the bald eagle, out of focus and then so crisp and clear you'd swear it was going to jump out of the screen!!! Nice music, I'm going to have to visit God's Country :)

Simply beautiful. Alaska and your art.
Thank you.

Shane Vander Hart, October 6, 2009 7:52 PM

Awesome video Seth! I've always wanted to visit Alaska, and you've just reinforced that for me.

Great job, Seth !

Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd, Schumer attempt to unionize the bear population, but in a last minute nuclear vote, the bears decide they are hungry. :-)

CruelaDev, October 6, 2009 11:11 PM

Seth..Amazing...Thanks for sharing!
