Anita Dunn - Loves Mao Tse Tung, Dislikes Fox News....and Governor Palin?
Time Magazine, official mouthpiece of the Obama administration, has an excerpt from “The Audacity to Win” by David Plouffe who was a key figure in Obama’s 2008 campaign. It’s an interesting behind the scenes glimpse into what has to be acknowledged as one of the most successful sales campaigns in marketing history. But what caught my eye was a fascinating factoid buried deep in the section describing how Plouffe and Co. reacted to McCain's selection of Governor Palin as his running mate.
Palin was a bolt of lightning, a true surprise. She was such a long shot, I didn't even have her research file on my computer, as I did for the likely McCain picks. I started Googling her, refreshing my memory while I waited for our research to be sent.
[...]
On our 6:00 a.m. conference call, [campaign adviser] Anita Dunn, who had worked against Palin in Alaska in the 2006 governor's race, warned us that she was a formidable political talent — clearly not up to this moment, she assured us, but bound to be a compelling player and a real headliner in the weeks ahead.
Yes – that Anita Dunn, White House Communications Director, enemy of Fox News and admirer of Mao Tse Tung. Dunn, who started out working for President Carter’s chief of staff, Hamilton Jordan, is regarded by Democrats as one of the their most highly experienced strategists. That’s why David Axelrod brought her into the Obama campaign team. It turns out that she also advised Tony Knowles in the 2006 Alaska Gubernatorial campaign.
"All of you on this call should watch video of her debates and speeches," Dunn counseled. "The substance is thin, but she's a very able performer. And her story is out of Hollywood. She'll be a phenomenon for a while."
Actually she also advised Knowles in his 2004 Senate bid so she clearly has close links with Alaska. In fact soon after the GOP convention she was on TV dissing the governors reformist credentials.
It’s quite clear that the Obama team was thrown into disarray by the Palin pick because over the next few weeks they threw every resource into undermining her credibility. Indeed at times it was as if she was Obama’s presidential opponent, rather than McCain.
The anti-Palin campaign operated, as we know, on two levels. Publicly one theme was “inexperience” though, given Obama’s shallow CV, this held some risk. Another was questioning the governor’s reformist/ethical credentials which Dunn herself laughably attempted just a few days after the nomination.
It was laughable not just because Obama had never aligned himself with any project that attempted to clean up the seedy politics of Chicago/Cook County but, as Michelle Malkin pointed out, Dunn herself had been very close to Tom Daschle.
Democratic media consultant Dunn’s claim to fame is her decade-long service as chief strategist for disgraced Democrat and former Senate Majority Leader-turned-health care lobbyist Tom Daschle. She was in the thick of his failed re-election campaign as Daschle asserted a bogus property-tax homestead exemption claim on his $1.9 million D.C. mansion – which he listed as his primary residence despite voting in South Dakota and claiming it as his primary residence in order to run for re-election. And Dunn was with Daschle during the years he failed to pay gobs of taxes on a luxury car and driver provided to him by crony donor Leo Hindery, Jr.
The public strategy was risky because of the possibility of backfire if anyone chose to delve too deeply into the past of Obama and his associates. However Axelrod and Co. were confident that a supine press and TV were too far in the tank for the Obama myth to afford any buyer’s remorse by asking questions. But the media were fascinated by a political figure who emerged from nowhere and proceeded to suck the oxygen out of Obama’s elegantly stage managed coronation at the Democrat convention. The media needed meat – and Team Obama had a private strategy to feed the beast.
While the public discourse remained civilised and respectful surrogates like HuffPo and Kos were used to orchestrate a tsunami of lies, distortions and rumours that were directed not so much at the governor’s politics but at her and her family. The media, using weasels words like “claimed” and “alleged”, eagerly climbed aboard and the bulk of the GOP establishment, not at all comfortable with a woman who had defied and destroyed key party figures in Alaska, simply left her to deal with it herself.
Almost all of the misinformation about Governor Palin came from Alaska, partly from local Democrats like Kim Elton (of Troopergate fame) and from “progressive” bloggers. Publicly, of course, there were no Team Obama fingerprints to be found on these slanders but it beggars belief to assume that these were all spontaneous outpourings from concerned citizens. Some might suggest a whiff of orchestration, and who else better to help connect the dots than someone closely involved with Alaskan Democrats since at least 2004 – someone like Anita Dunn. Michelle Malkin also noted this about Anita.
Dunn is married to Robert Bauer, a Washington, D.C. corporate lawyer who served as general counsel for Obama for America. It was Bauer who lobbied the Justice Department unsuccessfully last fall to pursue a criminal probe of American Issues Project (AIP), an independent group that sought to run an ad spotlighting Obama’s ties to Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers.
It was Bauer who attempted to sic the DOJ on GOP donor Harold Simmons and sought his prosecution for funding the ad. It was Bauer who tried to bully television stations across the country to compel them to pull the spot. All on Barack Obama’s behalf.
Only conjecture, of course – but even more curious is the fact that the campaign of slander and misinformation continued after the election, spearheaded by Jesse Griffin of Immoral Minority. Dan Riehl raised some very important questions about Mr Griffin – unfortunately that part of Todd Purdum’s well balanced Vanity Fair article on Governor Palin was mysteriously mislaid by the printers. But the intrepid "journalists" at the Anchorage Daily News must be planning an in depth analysis of the Jesse Griffin affair for publication sometime in... 2028?
The question is, I suppose, did Anita Dunn have anything to do with the anti-Palin campaign? We just don’t know. Certainly on a political level Anita must still see her as a threat to be neutralised. But there might also be a personal motive. After all, when you are a highly regarded and seasoned strategist it must have been galling to see your candidate defeated in the 2006 gubernatorial election by somebody like this.
In some ways it’s easier to count those who aren’t in Palin’s inner circle than those who are. Before appearing on the GOP presidential ticket, Palin often relied mainly on grassroots support to propel her political efforts.

Palin’s campaign manager for her gubernatorial race was one of her hometown friends, Kris Perry. Other people playing lead roles in the campaign included middle-school friends and work acquaintances

It is time for the republicans to get some enforcers to blunt tha marxist army of bo and soros.A crew of well funded lawyers and "the dirty dozen" for starters.
I wonder, has anyone ever seen Anita Dunn and CelticDiva in the same room? Because.......it...might....be....something.....to.....check.
Pinocchio...come to mind...
Maybe Anita wasn't able to read anything about Mao and doesn't know anything about him, because that mean Governor Palin banned all books in Alaska.
Pinocchio...comes to mind...
OT..sorry. Can anyone tell me why when I click on Sarah's Facebook to see real time comments from others it is no longer there. I get copies of her Facebook articles and comments regarding those articles. Am I doing something wrong or has her Facebook been changed?
Isn't it interesting connecting all the dots! If we connect enough dots, I wonder what the picture will look like?
I've noticed it switches formats sometimes. There should be an option to click on "Fan Wall" or something like that just underneath the tabs. This is where all the comments would be. I'm not sure. I can't get on Facebook at work, so I'm probably not too much help. Sorry.
At the top of comments click on fans.
Anita broke out the leftover Depends from the Knowles campaign, for Obama to wear. This explains so much.
I think Anita Dunn brings a plastic moose to events for photo ops.
Obviously, Biden didn't take Anita's advice to watch Governor Palin's past debates.
All I can say... what a damn shame that which happened to Gov Palin and all who allowed it to happen... McCain&Staff and those who participated in the evil against Sarah should have a special place in hell!
It's what makes this journey and cause we are engaged in now so important on so many levels... Gov Palin deserves our very best efforts and unwavering support... Sarah's worth is invaluable!... She has persevered under what has to be the worst example in American History of our politics of personal destruction... Im ashamed for this country for what was allowed to happen to Sarah and Family... Ii just makes me sick with shame to have witnessed and felt the heart-ache she endured.
With that said... Im so optimistic That Sarah, and Americas, will eventually have the last laugh as she is sworn in as our next President... Im in this like gang busters, with the rest of you,... it is a glorious experience fighting for Sarah and all that she represents...
We love you Sarah!... we are your friends!
David,
Thanks for posting another good expose on another strand in the tangled web of corruption and socialism known as the Obama administration.
Anita, your time is coming. Again. When Sarah Palin is at the top of the ticket, like she was in the 2006 campaign, your wimpy, whiny, cry baby boss, wil be trampled by an even bigger grassroots movement, than the one that ran you over in 2006.
OT--Barbarian Babes, Andrea Tantaros just tweeted this link. It is a must read!:)

Thanks...I got to the fan page and comments were 10 hours old. I kept clicking and it seems from comments made within last few minutes everyone is wondering what is wrong with her Facebook page. They think it might have been hacked or they are changing it or something strange is going on.
She was the candidate for all intents and purposes, she didn't have control of her own team. Anita had a better grasp of who Sarah was than anyone else on their side. It is interesting that Anchorage does seem to be the second axis of the Obama network, after Chicago.
I just went there and copied this from 10 minutes ago
Richard WrightDid she text all this while watching the game or what?!11 minutes ago · Report
Thanks David! I've put it up on my facebook!
According to TS, LJ will be on ET tonight ... Too cryptic?
TS = Team Sarah
LJ = you know who
ET = Entertainment Tonight
Can we set up detention camps for marxists here or do they have rendition to the Russian Gulags?
I wonder if it has something to do with extra security because of the DNC-led FB attack on Sarah's FB?
And I wonder if some of our dear, departed C4Pers are over there manning the ramparts?!
I don't get this, what is the justification to have him on, he's not promoting a book, the supposed
photo shoot that no one will see. They ET did a reasonably good coverage of her during the campaign
Don't forget this important point. Perkins Cole, where Anita's hubby works, is the same firm that gave us Thomas Daniel, the man who may have leaked his own investigation report on Sarah's legal defense fund.
The Obama machine sickens me ...
Isn't it interesting and obvious that Perry and co, had better instincts than the supposed Washington brain trusts
I went and checked and "supposedly" he is going to go lie about Sarah and Todd's marriage. I am sure he was rehearsed but I have a feeling the Palins would love him to cross the line and say Sarah and Todd were getting a divorce. That is a legal issue that requires court filings. That is an issue that the Palin's can file a Defamation of character suit on.
I thought the whorunsgov write up had lots of insight. It is old (they don't have that Sarah fired Donatelli) but being a GOP outsider is common for her. Also note the threat of a third party run (sound familiar). Note no backing from the GOP in Alaska (sound familiar) and has a very small inner circle (sound familiar).
Can't improve on what you said, Bestbud. Wonderful.
I'll just add that there is much corruption to be confronted. Sarah is mighty in spirit, otherwise she wouldn't be where she is now and she wouldn't have been able to withstand the onslaught in getting there. I believe that.
And her example and courage inspire millions. I know that.
Whit - may Barbarian Buds read it, too? : )
I don't know who looks more stupid LJ or the people that put him on TV with these stupid non-stories.
Yep. Familiar themes.
These are my boots.

I also have just regular western boots for riding my motorcycle.
BTW: What is ther status of that Ethics Claim? Never heard anything after Daniel's "leak". Is it settled yet?

John Rich, from Big and Rich, is going to The North Country of New York to campaign for Mr. Hoffman.
Thanks I guess Im just in a reflective moment, inspiration is the key word... she is that and much more!
Nancy, very intriguing!
I heard that they may have to wait until next year's legislative session to resolve that. Can't remember where I read it. But the gist is that the legislature would have to write a new law to clear up the vagueness on who pays for the legal defense. They could decide that all complaints will be paid for by the state, or provide guidance on official's ability to establish a separate legal defense fund, or call for frivolous dismissed complaints to be paid for by the losing side.
Well, I didn't wait for permission, I just read it.
I confess, I have no idea what Jimmy Choos are, but as for the central point: no question about it; right wing women, that is to say, Barbarian Babes, ROCK!
Thanks Whitney, that was great!:)
But who is this Jimmy Choo, the article spoke of?:)
Very nice catch David. Wish we could investigate further and nail this b**ch.
WOW!... from a right wing guy, Tantaros is definitely a barbarian babe. The article!... stunningly accurate!
The Obama administration seems to be the universal epicenter of skank!
Sorry, I left work early to run some errand before my halloween party tonight. Jimmy Choos are an expensive brand of high heels. This is where the author is a little off. Right wing women are generally more frugal than that. Me, I have running shoes, a pair of skeetchers, two pairs of heeled boots that I usually wear to work, and two pairs of high heels that I rarely wear because they are to uncomfortable. No Birkenstock sandals or clothes made of hemp for me though.
Of course the barbarian males can read it too! :) I just wanted to make sure that the girls read it. :)
Entertainment Tonight has become worse then Globe Magazine. They are leeches. They can't leave Sarah alone because they hate her. Nothing the leftists hate more then seeing a pro life woman who is PROUD to have not had an abortion. That is the bottom line. I mean really, everyone knows Levi is a liar. He can't even keep a straight face when he talks, they know it, we all know it, but they continue to have him on because they hate Sarah and love Obama
Jimmy Choo is a famous shoe designer based in London. He decked out celebs like Princess Diana. Jimmy is Malaysian born.
