Die on your feet or live on your knees
Too long to post in full here, but I thought some of you would enjoy:
Gov. Palin, who herself is turning into a de facto kingmaker for Conservatives, seems to understand with organic fluidity what very, very smart politicians like Newt Gingrich do not: the era of the RINO has come and gone, and the Era of Choosing Sides has begun.
So, Conservatives are struggling with a question: do we go all in for Doug Hoffman, a successful accountant who’s never run for public office at risk of splitting the GOP vote and thus giving a free ride to the Democrat (and Working Families Party) nominee Bill Owens, to Capitol Hill? Although the question has already been answered by funds, endorsements, etc for Conservatives, do we do the pragmatic thing and support the GOPer candidate Deidre Scozzafava, a woman who has been endorsed by NARAL, Planned Parenthood, and the Working Families Party (parent-company: ACORN) repeatedly, but is – in fairness – the woman picked by GOPer leaders in NY23?
The answer in NY23 is now easy, and getting easier by the day. Sarah Palin broke the dam with her endorsement (and in deference to Fred Thompson, who I supported in the GOPer primaries of ’08, he was there first), and now the endorsements from other politicians Conservative and skeptical alike are pouring in. I don’t buy the polling that Hoffman has taken the lead – yet – but what is obvious is that Conservatives, bastard step-child of the GOP for years, have had enough. We were mocked for the Tea Parties, we were mocked for the Town Halls, and let’s not even start on the mockery Sarah Palin has endured over the last 13 months.
In short, we’ve reached a point where the adults are about to attempt to regain control of the dinner table.

Awesome article. Everyone should read the long play version.
"Bluntly, I’d rather be stabbed in the heart by a Donkey than stabbed in the back by a GOPer" is the perfect synthesis of Conservative vs RINO end of life session.
I also particularly enjoyed your epilogue:
"Note to GOP: put up the most viably Conservative candidate and flourish, or reach out to the middle and perish. I’m among millions who will not vote for whichever pro-choice, pro-union, pro-tax, anti-gun, anti-defense placeholder you can find. This voter’s days of straight party voting is over. Is people like Scazzofava is the best that the GOP can do, I’ll simply recuse."
Principles trump party loyalty when the party has not been loyal to principles. No brainer.
Palin is definitely a kingmaker of the conservative movement and for the Republican party even though they continue to crank out RINOs.
O/T - Maria Shriver mentions Palin. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=699aW7zL2uY&feature=related
CTV News | Palin urges Obama to seek closer ties with Canada
great interview! just given to me - not sure how old it is - thought some may not have seen it? anyway it was being passed around at my blog talk radio show earlier! YaY!
I do not want to see the party split , however, the same old party junk has to cease with the election with someone with core values who will look out for the side of the people and not their interests, who can not be bought, will care for seniors, look out for our children and know when enough tax and spending is enough.
Sarah 2012!
I remember back in November a lot of people on the radio and such were saying how this was the Republicans' chance to organize and regain their party. That they had hit a low, and it would all start to improve as we head towards 2010... I remember thinking, why? Why would anyone expect these incompetent and out of touch people to suddenly change?
Unfortunately, I was correct but all is not loss because there are courageous Conservative people willing to do all the work outside of the establishment. Private citizens like Palin are the ones effecting real change. If Hoffman wins this election I will have a new hope for the direction of our country. It will prove that courageous individuals willing to take on the Democrat and Republican machines for the sake of liberty can succeed. Its a huge risk, but is worth fighting for and worth dying for (politically or otherwise).
Why should we settle for a candidate based on which party they have been endorsed by?
America was not founded by men who were willing to settle for second best. It is American's ability to take on risk with the hope of success that sets us apart from other countries.
Hi
this is from dec 2008 and it is an interview that is friendly and shows the Guv in a good light.

Were step Children of the GOP....I like it!....Just Like Cinderella!...and we all know what happen... in that saga...
'CUDA...2012...Our Cinderella...
Has anyone seen this Glenn Beck ad yet... I only post it here because there is clearly a cartoon of Sarah in the beginning teaching at a chalk board ;)

I know I'm off topic again, but I love that the RGA has Sarah's statement up on it's front page...
http://www.rga.org/initiatives/comeback-fund/
I found a support group for Levi! (strong language warning again)
She is right. We need to get closer with canada as their tar sands are HUGE. we should help them develop it. More safe energy from north america, the better.
RINO.....ummmmmm...Do you know Cruela?????...I think you and her... have something in-common...Not sure what...but something!...:):)
nice avatar!!!! (cleaning off the laptop screen!)
Wow, they have her picture plastered on the site and everything.
Glad you guys liked it!
Hey defend...How are you?...New Job.. Yet?
have a phone interview in the morning with a native health clinic in bethel, AK. It looks like a very likely possibility at this point. Thanks for asking.
Maybe I'll find that barbarian dude up there... think Todd's got any single relatives?!?
Yes, this is old. This is during signing of Trans-Canada as the pipeline builder.
I know! Her head is the size of the entire donation form. I went ahead and donated a little because I want to make sure they see that an endorsement from Sarah = money, which = winning. With the RGA in her corner she may have a little more leverage as she tries to move forward...
LOL, check out this animated .gif (It's in comment #77). Funnier than the douchebag video! (hint: it involves a Sarah and Obama action figures)
That's cute. Chris Matthews has Palin on his intro montage too.
I think it's too small to show up well here, but you're right... it is funny!!!
It looks ok if you click on it and enlarge it.
OT
Arent we all routing for Hoffman? Why? Is it because, he is articulate, bright, flambuoyant charismatic leader-NO
Is it because of his conservatism ?NO
Its because Sarah endorsed him ISNT that true.
Well here is to Puma ,happy mullah ,Rino hunter shouldnt you all be for scozzafava in this race or better yet for Owens the democrat.
You people are exactly whats wrong with GOP -wishing if Sarah was pro choice then she would attract so many more voters, gays, hillary supporters etc...
Conservatives can not separate fiscal from social issues. Pro abortionists have place to turn to-it is the liberal democratic party. That is one of Palins strengths, last time i checked national majority is socially conservative .Sarah is a total package-take it or leave it Reagan did not want Big Tent -so many people fell in love with him that their sheer numbers built the damn tent.
I hope your successful.. on "Both" adventures...:)
Huh? Where did I wish she was pro choice?
Hoffman is probably ahead. It is a two man race.

Talk show interview with Dede: http://www.newzjunky.com/
Wow... not only is this off topic, but it is rude!
i am attracted to Hoffman's fiscally conservative principles. I was attracted to him before he was ever endorsed by Sarah as were many others here on this board.
Sarah's standings on social issues are clear, but they have never defined her leadership style. She leads as a true fiscal conservative and wants social issues to be decided at state and local levels of government. Her record shows she wants less federal government intervention into the lives of American's and has frequently talked about how this affects her view of enforcing social issues through federal mandates.
Perhaps you need to go read up more on Sarah's actual record and come back when you are better informed.
basically it seems to be universally accepted that DeDe is toast ;)
The governor campaigns, and may swing the election.

Yes gritting her teeth to say it. You have to remember a leftist like Maria Schriver does not include Sarah as a women.
Rhino sorry I corrected it .
defectamerica
Not quite off topic this issue was raised under the last Sarahs facebook post
Stating that gay marrriage ,abortion and a whole bunch of very imporant social issues should be left to the states was Mccain and genarally liberal republican position.
Anyway I thought this site was not FC4P(fiscally conservatives for Palin)
WEll pigeon-holing this group is well like herding cats, from evangelicals, catholics, to pagans, from PUMAs to traditional republicans, from strong Iraq war supporters to skeptics and everything in between. Similarly Hoffman has strong economic conservative credentials, a down to earth manner, a pro military, and at the end pro life platform. We can see the affinity that the Tea Party has for him
I'm not sure what your point is. I am actually very socially conservative, however I have followed Sarah since long before she was on the political scene and she has never pushed a piece of socially conservative legislation at any level of government outside of the piece requiring parental notification (but not consent) of underage girls undergoing abortion, which she supported in the final months of her governorship.
She has given speeches regarding her positions on social issues, but has never included them in her legislation.
That was her stance, not just McCain's.
For someone that espouses such high moral ground on social issues, it seems surprising that you would be so willing to be outright disrespectful to others here on this board.
Last I checked this site was also not named Rude Trolls for Palin, so perhaps you should find a better place to spew your negativity.
also... last I checked America was not a defect... better watch those insults.
I post on this site for quite a while now ,couldnt be further from a "rude troll" as you described it .
To a conservative this is the biggest insult, so not sure who is rude here .
In my post i did not even talk to you yet you took offense in what i had to say about so called conservatives ashamed or at least quiet about being conservative on social issues .
That was my point and there is nothing personal about it .
Finally....the last two posts give me some measure of hope for this country. The silent majority in fly over country will have to take on this battle with the radical liberals and the beltway Rhino elitists working in tandem to defeat us. As long as we have Sarah on our side, it'll be a crowded road to victory. Love the line " I'd rather die on my feet than on my knees".
Message to GOP: Bring it on. We outnumber you and we surround you.
I find it interesting that we have yet to hear a peep out of the Romney camp either way in the NY race. You know he doesn't want to buck his beltway pals, but if he backs Scuzzy he'll catch hell like Newt, if he jumps on the Hoffman bandwagon it will look like a "me, too" moment and it will displease the beltway bunch. My bet is that he won't say anything.
I think sarah will endorse Marco Rubio, but she is waiting.
Gov. Palin just wrote on FB about the governors race. Not sure when it was posted, but I just read it,
It would make sense. This story is getting so much attention it would be kind of silly to make more headlines! That is, assuming someone irrelevant with no political future could make headlines :)
It looks like they are messing around with some kind of formatting. The note is the one that was posted late last night/early this morning.
whitney, i like your avatar! so random, but great idea
yeah, that's the finger after the ring was thrown in the lake.
(yes I know it's not the ring finger)
Thanks, Ellen! Time Magazine referred to Palin as a walking middle finger to the elites in DC. That's what my avatar is supposed to be.
My apologies to everyone, though, I'm not trying to flick you off. :)
editorial from the Watertown New york newspaper from tonight regarding the polls:
http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/section/blogs09
We have not heard from Sapwolf all day. I'm just wonder how's he's doing up there in Watertown, I guess no Lap Top.
sarah rocks 2012
I was actually impressed she brought Sarah up as part of the historic year for women. I still have hope that the Guvenator will support Sarah, and maybe bring his wife around :-)
Sarah is DEFINITELy like Cinderella. I read that story so often to my kids. The way the stepsisters ripped off Sarah's dress and spitefully told her she couldn't go to the ball, was JUST LIKE the way the media and the liberal and GOP establishment treated Sarah.
But WE THE PEOPLE are like Sarah's Fairy Godmother, and we are gonna get Sarah to the ball in 2012. Oh yeah ... we'll be driving the carriage :-)
Sarah redefines the pro-life movement for the 21st Century, in my view. She's the next wave, unwavering in her position, but not eager to pick a fight over it. And in some ways, that is the ultimate conservative position: If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one, and encourage those you love not to have one, and promote the idea that young women have options OTHER than abortion. But don't insist that everyone MUST share your view.
Freedom!
Best wishes for your interview. The Yu'pik people are wonderful to work with and learn from.
(Also the Northern Lights during winter and tundra sunsets during the long summers are awe-inspiring!)
ALA:
Get your facts straight and perhaps read what I write before you find it necessary to call me out by name.
I do not wish for Governor Palin to be Pro Choice. I support her in whatever decision she makes because it is her decision to make.
Go back and read my posts.
I will not be this kind to you next time if you try this again.
I like that analogy. :)
Im trying to respond directly to you .Hopethis is not going on any of the blogs.
Isnt this one of you quoutes
"I actually am Pro-Life, but take issue with Incest, Rape, and the Health of the Mother"
Im not condemning you for this stance but respectfully -this is hardly a pro-life position.
Dont get me wrong ,you can believe what you want and its not for me or anyone to judge .
