New York Post: Doug Hoffman for Congress; Updated: More Endorsements Including Jim DeMint; Update #2: New poll shows Hoffman ahead
Endorsements continue to pile up for Doug Hoffman. We noted yesterday in a post that Tim Pawlenty had followed Governor Palin's lead and endorsed the principled conservative in New York's 23rd Congressional District. Today, the New York Post, in an editorial, has also endorsed Hoffman:
New York's 23rd Congressional District lies near Canada, far to the north -- but next week's special election merits attention throughout the state.
That's because the Republican candidate in that race, Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava, is the product of an obscenely corrupt political bargain by GOP bosses that sells out their party -- and New Yorkers generally.
Because of that, and because so many of her positions ill-serve the interests of New York and the nation, The Post today endorses businessman Doug Hoffman, the Conservative Party nominee.
No, Republicans needn't toe the conservative line without any deviation. Moderate GOPers like Rudy Giuliani have managed to stray on some issues without wholly betraying their party.
But a Republican should adhere to certain minimum GOP principles. Scozzafava is just too far to the left too often.
[...]
Voters in this traditionally GOP district can send a useful message -- by sending Doug Hoffman to Congress.
Read the rest here. Yesterday, Doug Hoffman was interviewed on the Glenn Beck Show:
Today, Chris Cillizza noted the following in the Washington Post:
(Polling and conversations with those close to the contest on both sides suggest it is now a two-person race between Hoffman and Democrat Bill Owens with Scozzafava fading badly.)
There's seven days remaining until the election. Contribute to Doug Hoffman's campaign here.
Update by Doug: (H/T jimr3) Obama lap dog Paul Begala is upset by Governor Palin's endorsement of Doug Hoffman and the resulting surge in the polls by the conservative candidate.
Update II by Doug: Here are two more money quotes about Governor Palin's endorsement of Doug Hoffman.
From The Libertarian Conservative:
But whatever they say about her: this woman has more balls, spine and guts that any other male, female or trans-sexual politician in either of the two parties. And the amount of vitriole and vile she faces every day is proof how utterly helpless the liberals feel, and how scared they are of her. The machine of the Democratic party will not stop at anything to destroy this woman, for they know very well that she CAN bring about a CHANGE to America. But CAN and CHANGE are terms that are - of course - solely reserved for those that presently occupy the seats of power in Washington.
I would strongly suggest to keep a very close eye on this woman - she might teach Barack, Rahm, Axelrod, Hillary, Nancy and Harry what CHANGE really means. And I hope she does.
Read more here. (H/T Josh Painter)
From Jay Tea:
Well, she's done it again. Sarah Palin has thrown an endorsement into that Congressional race over in New York -- and she's rejected the Republican Party candidate in favor of the Conservative Party one.
And once again, everyone's poking at tea leaves and molesting goat innards in trying to figure out just what it all means, what Palin's really up to, what signal is she sending.
Morons.
I figured out Palin a long time ago. And while understanding her doesn't always make her predictable, it does work fantastically well in hindsight.
All you have to do is listen to her.
[...]
The real reason is most likely the one she stated -- she thinks that the Conservative is the best candidate for the job.
Period.

Update III by Doug: Two more prominent Republicans have parted ways with the GOP establishment and have announced their support for Doug Hoffman. First, Former NRCC chair Representative Tom Cole (R., OK), as reported by William Kristol of The Weekly Standard. Second, Senator Jim DeMint (R., SC) sent Erick Erickson at Redstate.com a statement announcing his support for Doug Hoffman. This is big. Both are sitting Republican officeholders and widely respected. Governor Palin's bold move has started a tidal wave.
(H/T Whitney)
Update IV by TR: Neighborhood Research (R) finds Hoffman leading the race for the open House seat in New York's 23rd Congressional District. The pollster came to the following conclusion:
She's [Scozzafava] going to end up in single digits and Hoffman is going to top 50%.
Update V by Doug: According to Reid Wilson at The Hill, Democrats have turned their attention solely to Hoffman and are beginning to downplay expectations of a Democrat victory:
Meanwhile, Democratic strategists in Washington are privately beginning to downplay expectations for the race, hinting that they would not be surprised if Hoffman were to win outright, defeating both Scozzafava and attorney Bill Owens (D).

Which video shows a map of America, and a tide of color changing starting in Alaska and flooding the rest of the country. I cannot think of who made it! This is going to drive me crazy!
Anyway, that is a picture of what is happening! Woo-hoo!
How come Pawlenty doesn't get Begala all wee-weed up?
Greta just posted that just the retainer for Sarah's book is 1.25 Million dollars.
It's probably not a good move for Newt, to be whining about the same thing as Begala.
Whaaaaaaaat???????...O'blabla..."Took a Time Out"...from his Golf and Basketball... to campaigne in New York?????...Shocka!!
I think Begala thinks we are all half a whack job!
What does that mean?
Begala...Needs to see Pukelosi's...Forehead Doctor...
Nobody cares, until Governor Palin makes an appearance, or gives an endorsement, or donates money, or posts on Facebook, or puts 2 words in quotation marks, or writes a book, or gives away a dinner invitation, or gives a speech on foreign soil, or calls a late night talk show host out.
Oh man, this is gonna be good!
Pass the popcorn...
Wizbang's got a great article on Sarah.
http://wizbangblog.com/content/2009/10/27/simple-sarah.php
Haha. I hadn't actually seen a picture of Begala before, so I just looked it up. You all are so right about his nickname. :)
Mia, you don't live in Pukelosi's district, do you?
Rasmussen:
New Jersey Governor: Christie 46%, Corzine 43%
With just a week to go in New Jersey's closely contested race for governor, Republican Chris Christie holds a three-point advantage over incumbent Democratic Governor Jon Corzine. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in New Jersey show Christie with 46% of the vote and Corzine with 43%.
No...I live in O'Di...District...
Last night on Gretta I had to endure Newt all over again... same song and dance, in such a serious but pathetic face... knowing he was continuing his irrelevant fall.
Kinda sad!... nice guy, but the same old!... same old! Just can't get past!... the Past!
"The Forehead" is what Rush calls Begala. It works!:)
I bet Begala... wished he was called...The "Middle Finger"...hehehe...
It means She will make at least 1.25 million from the book. The rest of the money amount will not be known again unless she runs for office and has to submit her financials.
Yes, it more physically fitting. I mean who's seen a middle finger with hair before.
Just followed Sarah's lead and donated to the RGA... Sure liked her "sometimes I don't see eye to eye with republican party."
Hopefully, their coffers will swell from her influence, that's primarily why I try to contribute, I want all to see and recognize her for what see is.... A very influential and inspirational American-one to be admired and respected for her integrity and honor--her tireless championing for what is RIGHT!... Not what is politically correct.
This DCCC memo has just fired up the folks that are part of the Tea Party movement. Yea, we want to send one of our own to congress. Someone who is going to represent us. He just doesn't get what the tea parties and town hall meetings are all about....
If you noticed, that it mentions Gov. Palin and the tea party. I guess everyone else who supports Doug Hoffmann is not a threat to the democratic party. Like Rush always says, watch who the democrats go after.
Hey Nancy...Whit...Lipstick...and Cruela...
Do you ever wonder... what the WH "mole" Thinks...when reading our comments?????...
It was torture watching Newt on Greta last night. I wish she would have gotten tougher with him...
ummmm....Big Foot?
I don't know what the "mole" thinks, but if Begala read our posts, I think that he would call us at least half a whack job. To which I would say, "thank you".

My reaction exactly... his defense of a process, and an apparently flawed one at that is ridiculous.
Greta is...goo-goo...over Newtie...
Paul Begala and James Carville refined the politics of personal destruction while working for the Clintons. Now it's pretty standard operating procedure for the Dems. If they had to rely on issues rather than attacking the character of their opponents, they'd lose every election.
If O'blabla...Golfed with the Sarcastic Sisters...

I have policy, was forced to adopt it... I cannot read comments until post my own.... it's just to difficult hunting and pecking and back spacing and deleting... when Im laughing my a__! off and falling out of the chair!
Cool!
Well Bagala in his own way is acknowledging the power of her support, the point I made once, there generally, two umbrella movements, Obama's and the Tea Party movement, and the closest figure in public life that echoes that is Sarah Palin
I don't really know. It reads like more of an original kicker with more to follow. I think I would have to pay to have a book written so I am probably not the person to asks.
Man, it keeps getting better . . . the updates to this post are fantastic, will have to digest and post thoughts later . . .
COOL!!
You might be on a special list as a Texan.

Sorry Whit but the sarc sisters are total whack jobs not half.
This may have come out before, and I didn't see it. But RedState is reporting that Jim DeMint is supporting Hoffman. I think this is the first Senator to do so.
Actually if you read Begala's letter it doesn't say anything about the Democrat running in NY-23 and doesn't even say that is where the money is going. Bottom-line Sarah raised over 100+ K in one District within days. The Dems are scared sh#tle@#
Tough thing in sports. Some people don't make the roster and sometimes you start the Rookie/Freshman over the veteran/Senior.
That commercial cracks me up!
Lipstick...YOU LIE!
Sapwolf.

The NRA needs to pull their endorsement or also endorse Hoffman.
It's all Lipstick's, Mia's, Nancy's, and Cruela's fault.

“Too often, we’re told that Republicans have to be like Democrats to be competitive in states like New York, Pennsylvania and Florida. But the truth is voters don’t want to be forced to pick between two liberals; they want a real choice. If voters want to give Washington more control over our lives, they can always vote for Democrats.
Thankfully, Doug Hoffman has stepped forward and offered voters a better choice. Doug is not running as a Republican but he stands for commonsense conservative principles that will give more freedom to New Yorkers and that’s what matters most. Doug supports lower taxes, less spending, and offering Americans more personal control in health care and education. He supports traditional marriage and will fight to protect the unborn.
America needs more people like Doug Hoffman, Pat Toomey, and Marco Rubio to run for office and bring real reform to Washington. Americans fundamentally believe in the principles of freedom and liberty, that we as individuals have the responsibility and the right to live our lives without the heavy hand of government on our shoulders. I hope voters in New York will stand with Doug Hoffman and his commitment to fight for these principles of freedom.”

VidSweet. People's Response to Sarah Palin I think
<p>From Sean Cockerham in Anchorage --
<p>Sarah Palin reported in financial disclosures out this morning that she received $1.25 million from publisher HarperCollins as "retainer for book."
<p>The report doesn't give a date for when Palin received the money. But the disclosures cover money that Palin received during her final seven months as governor, from Jan. 1 to July 26.
<p>No other details are offered on the book deal, but a retainer would just be an upfront piece of her money. Palin's memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life," is to hit bookstores on Nov. 17.
Yes, I am the innocent one.
Cruela....I'm not only Cringing...I'm Puking and Gagging...and...
Shouting...MY EYES..MY EYES!!!!!
Is Hoffman's head spinning? Because mine would be if I got an endorsement from Palin, Pawlenty, and now DeMint.
On another note...um, 1.25 million is a lot imho. After all, half of it will be used to repay the lawyers correct? Or has that been already done?
update......
<p>UPDATE -- Palin's spokeswoman, Meg Stapleton, just emailed me this statement:
<p>"The Governor has complied with Alaska disclosure law by her filing yesterday. Now, as a private citizen, her business dealings, including her publishing agreement, are confidential."
<p>Palin is also reporting that she took out a home loan from Wells Fargo for "legal fees to fight false allegations while governor." She didn't give a date or amount.
<p>Palin's associates have said she incurred over $600,000 in legal fees as a result of "Troopergate" as well as various ethics complaints, and her legal defense fund is in limbo after an investigator found "probable cause" it's in violation of the law.
<p>Palin's report also lists her as owner of "Pie Spy LLC," described as a marketing business. It's referred to as "Services for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities" in the state's corporation database. The address of the business is listed as the office of Palin's lawyer in Anchorage, Thomas Van Flein.
<p>Palin listed several gifts as well, including $4,250 in Yankees tickets in June from Rudy Giuliani for herself, her husband and her daughter, Willow.
<p>Palin reported receiving $1,664 from evangelist Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse for airfare to Russian Mission and Marshall as part of an effort to deliver food aide to the Western Alaska vilages last spring.
<p>Her husband, Todd, reported a $2,000 gift from the teen abstinence advocacy group Candie's Foundation for a May trip to New York. Their daughter, Bristol, was a spokesperson for the group.)
<p>These are the final financial disclosure reports that Palin will be required to file with the Alaska Public Offices Commission.
<p>Palin reported that she received $73,000 in salary and $6,370 in per diem during those final months before resigning as governor.
<p>Todd Palin reported receiving $34,086 during that time as a BP production operator. He also reported $32,260 from his commercial setnet fishing operation in Bristol Bay, under the business name "Toad's Fisheries."
<p>Todd Palin also reported $3,500 in winnings from the Iron Dog snowmachine race.
<p>He disclosed a $3,252 snowmachine discount from his

Definitely Bush. I second that.
<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style=""><span style="">
<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">With Tim Pawlenty, Tom Cole and now Jim DeMint all now endorsing Doug Hoffman; it really should be obvious to any honest thinking person that Sarah’s endorsement last week is the reason for this avalanche of support.
<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">

Well Jane......
"How's her deal compare to some others?
In 2001, former president Bill Clinton got an estimated $10 million to $12 million, which at the time was a record for a nonfiction work. Then, in 2006, Oprah Winfrey struck a deal that her publisher claimed was worth even more."
interesting...
You have a point...that's not a whole lot compared to them. I wonder why?
A deal can be structured many ways. Smaller advance usualy means more money per book sale for her as royalties. And we are assuming the AP has its facts right which is a BIG IF!
UHHHH OHHHH...Now Jim DeMint?... Gosh I feel Horrible now for Calling His DC Office and threatening to file Harassment Charges against him (NOT). But I will have you know... we have NOT received one call from his campaign since..We used to get 2-4 a day. Well one day.. (SEE AVATAR)...Lost it! Hey Jim.. I live in CO not SC.
LMAO!
jim,
As far as I'm concerned, they can sit there forever. :-)
<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="mso-no-proof: no;"><span style=""><span style="">If I remember right it was reported that Gov. Palin would be getting the book money in increments.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I believe she did it this why because the MSM had excess to her records.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>After July 26th her records are closed, I think.</span></span></span>
Harassment charges? Goodness, the phone calls DID make you lose it! (And I don't have to see said avatar to know!:)
Greta is endorsing Hoffman...WOW!
One gets splinters, when you sit on the fence so long
But WAIT! Didn't the Forehead get Newt's memo about state's right to pick their own candidates without "outside" interference? Geez, if Newt can't even command respect from the Left, we're doomed ;-)
I don't know Jane. I'm not that knowledgeable on "book deals"..lol
I would think that that was an upfront payment and she probably also gets so much for each book sold. I could be wrong though.
Also being a "retainer" fee.....maybe it's just a "bonus" payment to "sign her on" so to say, and now they have a legal commitment from her for so many books to be written by her. Again I could be wrong.
After saying all that, I guess we'll just never know.
Now since Sarah is a "private citizen", she doesn't have to disclose anything any more!
Austen
You are definitely approaching ownership status of the sarc. sisters club... sure you want in? cause I hear there is no turning back... it's a life thing...
That's just a guys opinion from one who will never get in!... at least till I have that operation... where they remove and replace things!
Well Jane.. what his Campaign FAILED to understand...the calls would start at 9am ..THEIR time.. which is 7am here!...and it would go on all day. For weeks...Finally...yeah...I lost it!..
My guess is the legal defense fund is waiting to see what the AK legislature do when in session. It was advised that they make it a law that the State covers the expenses (as was recommended in the investigation). If this happens then Sarah will give individuals their money back. If they don't vote then the personnal board will say the Individual has no choice but to set up such a fund and they will allow her to use the money. This is the one complaint still in limbo and the little I know about this, this appears to be a logical answer.
Well as long as it creates the desired effects.. I have reached my goal! ;)
He talked to Hoffman on his show yeaterday and all he talked about what Sarah's endorsement. Sean likes all the Conservative but he has made it clear a long time ago. He is conservative not Republican. Sean loves Sarah but not to the point of throwing others under the bus.
jeanA - I believe you are correct.
...and all from a type, type, type send. :)
Techno..Rush, I Hope He Fails.
sarah rocks 2012
An advance is payment you receive upon signing the contract before you even do anything. $1.5 mil for just agreeing to do a book is pretty big. The actual contract as much more (I think it has been reported as between $7-$10Mil, which is probably due to her now)
And where is Romney and Huck?....
Bringing up the rear I guess.
I'm pissed. Just read an interview by German paper Spiegel with Charles Krauthammer about Obama and Nobel Peace Prize for Nothing and agreed with most of what he said except that he expects Obama to get re-elected because the Republican party has no real leader stepping up. He dismisses Sarah as not a serious contender and then talks about the liberal Romney. I don't know what he said after that, I quit reading.
What will it take for the beltway elitists to get the message? The people at the tea parties were angry not just with the radical liberals but at the liberal-lite Republican party. We will no longer accept candidates who fail to adhere to core conservative principles. We will not be told who to support or who to vote for by over-the-hill talking heads. We would rather stay home and give elections to the liberals than be lied to and dismissed by the party we used to support.
The one thing that we can do is reserve any political donations only for those candidates we trust. Maybe when Hoffman wins they will finally get the message. If not, they will be in for a rude awakening come 2010 and 2012. We are angry and we will not take it anymore. I would like to get into Krauthammer and Gringrich's faces and shout this message to them with a couple of million like-minded barbarians shouting in chorus. It's one thing to be ridiculed and dismissed by the far left but it's disgusting to be treated so badly by stodgy old male talking heads who need to get the hell out of the way.
I hope that Sarah's next Facebook comes out tomorrow with her endorsement of Rubio in Florida. I hope that every candidate that she supports wins by a landslide and the beltway elites begin to look like armadillos paralyzed by flashlights directed directly in their eyes. They are obviously already deaf, dumb and blind.
Whew, that felt good to get this off my chest. Time for an early, but much needed cocktail.
Indeed!
Their rears on on the fence. For most people, that would be uncomfortable, but they seem to be used to it.

Kjanlady...WTH...Make it a Double...Oh...BTW...I agree with YOU!
i will repeat something I wrote a few days ago, becuase it is more true now than it was then:
This campaign in upstate New York has to have been designed by God, It is too perfect.
Go, Sarah, Go!!!
Krauthammer can leave the room -- so that we can have serious discussion.
It may seem awful when a doctor who cuts up a chest to revive a heart, but it needs to be done to save the patient’s life. So is Governor Palin she’s cutting into the chest of the Republican Party to revive the heart.
Governor Palin isn’t out to destroy the Republican Party. On the contrary she’s there to fix it. One day they’ll look back and thank her.
Krauthammer is a smart guy but he is part of the “conventional beltway” people and therefore Governor Palin doesn’t appeal to him. Palin appeals to every day Americans and those people will never get that. Actually I believe that she’s going out of her way not to appeal to those people. The day the “Beltway politicians” get “Sarah Palin” we’re in trouble.
Just got the following from Team Sarah. Apparently if they can raise enough money Sarah will speak in Iowa on 21 November. Some on here like TS others don't but it would be great to have Sarah speak in Iowa. The pundits brains would explode.
Dear Team,
We have an opportunity to support Sarah Palin DIRECTLY and to promote the values she represents.
The Iowa Family Policy Action center needs to raise $41,000 in order to have Sarah Palin come to speak on November 21, 2009. They have raised $59,000 already, but they need to know there is enough to coming in to ensure that they can pull this off.
As you know, we at Team Sarah have supported efforts to raise money for Sarah Palin’s PAC and for the Legal Defense Fund, but this effort will actually help her and her family directly and enable her to have resources she directly controls to take care of all the things she needs to do as she launches her national effort to restore the core values of our Conservative movement.
I am appealing to you DIRECTLY to ACT NOW and support raising the remaining $41,000 so ensure that Sarah Palin can come to this event, and to show Sarah Palin that she has no better friend and ally than Team Sarah!
We have set up a donations page you can go to, 100% of this money will towards raising this money to have Sarah Palin come and speak. When she speaks, we will also ask our members to help promote the event and work with our promotions teams to ensure that her message gets out LOUD AND CLEAR throughout the whole internet.
We have 74,000 PLUS members, and are still growing, and I am convinced that there are AT LEAST 8,000 of us who can send in at least $5 to support this effort.
Will you help?

Thank you all,

Krauthammer is a smart guy on specific issues. However, he is not a political prognosticator and usually falls flat whenever he gets into electoral predictions.
I don't know the publishing industry but I've always understood retainers as sort of down payments against future obligations. In other words, the retainer is the bare minimum to get the relationship going, and it is subtracted from the TOTAL compensation when all the dust settles.

This is strange. Why do they need to raise money for her to come and speak? Is it to cover her air fare or what? And has the Guv said she would speak if they raised the money? That just doesn't sound like her.
What is the event she would be speaking at?
Thank you, Bestbud!:)
Sarah touches this election, and it turns to gold!
Krauthammer is just out of touch with the electorate, plain and simple. I like his commentaries, but he is no master of retail politics, THAT's for sure.
Sarah got where she got by LISTENING to voters. That being said, I don't know if you can completely separate Sarah's INFLUENCE from her ability to READ the situation. I honestly speculate that the Tea Party movement in part rose OUT of the excitement created by her candidacy. And now she is LISTENING to the movement that she helped to inspire.
Next Katie Couric interview:
Couric: And what do you read?
Palin: I read voters. :-)
If Hoffman gets over 50% and scozafava gets single digits, that will be the biggest kick in the teeth to the GOP elites! and guess who led the charge? SARAH PALIN!
double Amen, for both statements
Newt even kind of looks like the Skipper.
Nancy.. I would repost my "The Swimmer" movie flashback...but Mia's head would explode....
Wait.. that might be fun to see! I love the little statement at the end..."The Drama...of a Man...suddenly plunged off the deep end"...Get's me everytime!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIegoQAayFs
So Krauthammer is prepared to lose to Obama a second time rather than take a chance on Sarah. Which tells a lot about the man.
I like Hannity and he seems like a genuine guy, but sometimes he drives me up the freakin' wall!!
I appreciate his support for Governor Palin, but that is usually diluted quickly when I see Nicole Wallace get a segment on his show.
Um, Sean you are well aware of the book that is coming out titled Going Rogue right? I think that Schmidt and Wallace might get a little bit of mention somewhere.
ATTENTION HANNITY SHOW PRODUCERS!!!
Invite Nicole Wallace back on the 'Great American Panel' the day of Governor Palin's book release.
Let that doofus Bob Beckel take the center chair.
Put Ann Coulter to the right of Hannity.
Extend this segment to 30 minutes.
Ratings Bonanza!!!!
(Problems with JS-Kit or Echo again today; watched the "spinning wheel" for hours.)
Now, to the point: this gets more exciting by the day and hour, watching the isolation of the "squishy vichy" RINOs.
Thank you, Nancy:)
You all add so much to the glorious experience we have on c4p honoring our Madame 45.... what a life!... It's a great life!
I have no idea what I just watched on that clip.
But the acting made me laugh.:)
What in the world was that?
Judging by the info it sounds like they need $100000. Isn't that what she charges to speak? As a member of the WSB this does sound like Sarah. This is her job. I dare say none of us does there daytime job without pay.
I'm currently at work, but when I get home I will have to link to a video that I have saved on my bookmarks. It's really great, it's a cartoon made over 50 years ago about capitolism. I just can't remember the title name right now or I would look it up now.
OK back to work...
Wow, if Sarah comes to Iowa and Missouri (two bordering states) within two weeks time, my head will literally explode with joy. I'm already hoping to be at the Missouri event, and requested tickets. I don't know if I got them.
I will definitely contribute to Team Sarah.
narciso,
Right on!.. and It's a resounding echo too... the whole political sphere shakes in it's boots and catches cold when ever Madame 45 sneezes!
Still believe Sarah needs to take Piper and Trig to NY-23 to Trick or Treat and head there to get Hoffman over the top.
LMAO.. Nancy go to the Monday afternoon/Evening Open Thread..page 9-10 will explain all...
I'm Still laughing!
Excuse the pun but something seems fishy with this. First this is just a few days into her book tour and you know they must haved everyday booked full of appearances for a while , second unless the speakers bureau is doing the scheduling the money dosent seem right. And this is sort of being real late in scheduling, less than 30 days for an event like this.
Haven't been able to follow the comments, will have to catch up tonight.
Good article in WSJ by John Fund
Sarah Palin Weighs In
The Barracude spurns Scozzafava
Notice the title and sub-title are both positive, as is the article.
This was sent to me by my Reaganite friend.
She's definitely no Ginger! ;)
Sheya
Well said... I had heart by-pass surgery... the republican party will feel the revitalization and life changing effects of Sarah... especially when they call her Commander-In-Chief!
My Reaganite friend suggested Sarah meet John Fund, I did a quick google on him and he looks top notch.
I told him I would try to put John in touch with Sarah, any suggestions on how to do that ? I'm serious.
She's definitely no Ginger! ;)
Well whatever Dr. Krauthammer, you were proven wrong about the Death Panels, you'll be proven wrong about this as well, one steps up to the challenges one by one
We discussed Krauthammer's piece a bit on the post about Sarah's RGA Facebook note ...
Agree but I don't see Team Sarah doing this. It would clearly be a WSB thing and yes the money sounds right. They may have booked without the cash in the bank and the WSB may have giving them a deadline.
Recovering Dem.....Krauthammer is part of the Beltway crowd. Smart like Newt, but wrong
sarah rocks 2012
I went and looked at that thread, Cruela. And it explains so, so many things.......about you and Mia.
I think I will llve watching that movie vicariously through you, Cruela.
The clip was enough.
The last line of the trailer fits Newt perfectly, though!
:)
Comment of the day, from AoS, in response to some idiot troll pushing the "quitter" meme:
113 Palin's gonna quit herself right into the Oval Office, with a fiercely loyal cadre of smart, conservative pols who will die on any hill she points to.

CruelaDev...Good Movie. but Sad.

I know at least one person on this board who has Sarah's cell phone number. But my lips are completely sealed.
Oh, and John Fund wrote the book about ACORN corruption - long before it became part of the national lexicon. He would be a good one for Sarah to work with because he knows the kind of influence ACORN has on elections. She needs to go in with her eyes VERY open.
If you can contact John Fund have him E-Mail SarahPac. Considering his background I am sure they have tried to contact. Sometimes Sarah can see these people are too far in the Beltway and tells them wait your turn. Being an insider doesn't mean you can cut line.
Cavuto talks to Tim Pawlenty on Hoffman Endorsement (Foxnews 10/27/2009)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqnX9yPrbhE
For a guy who didn’t know anything about the candidates just five days ago, it seems Gov. Palin made him go study up.
Kraut will come around. It will just take a while.
I think Lindsey Graham would make a perfect Gilligan.
Catholic Families for America PAC,.. Endorses Doug Hoffman in NY-23 Special Election
It appears that since the Palin endorsement, there has been a virtual tidal wave of endorsements. I wonder why they didn't jump on before? I admit, Fred and Jeri Thompson, Michele Bachman, and someone else endorsed him before Palin did, but who really knew about their endorsements. It was ONLY when Palin endorsed Hoffman that the other endorsements became widely known, and it was only AFTER the Palin endorsement that all the others, Pawlenty, DeMint, etc., jumped on the bandwagon. That tells me that Sarah Palin is once again the driving force here.
Sheya,
Yes. You are right!
Governor Palin makes politicians be better than they are.
She forces them to work.
She makes them keep up.
Regarding the post from PEC and the letter from Team Sarah further up this thread.
I called the The Iowa Family Policy Action center and spoke to a gentleman there that said they are trying to work out all of the details but they are in contact with the Guv's speakers bureau. They said her schedule is really tight around the time they want her but they will know by the end of this week or by Monday if she will be speaking there. He sounded like a huge Palin fan. (no surprise there huh)
He said it was legit. They are trying to see if she can fit it in to her schedule. So I guess she is getting 100,000 to speak. Sweet!
And it was good hearing how busy she would be. These next 2 months are going to be Palin Mania!!
It also is probably better to get increments for tax purposes.
Now. That's an insult to Gilligan. ;)
Tpaw was just on Cavuto talking about Hoffman and his speech was a copy of Sarah's points word for word giving the impression it was his words. Wat a waste he is.
Right, Inde ... exactly.
Smart, but wrong ...
That describes 90% of the Beltway!
They completely lack common sense at best ... At worst they're dishonest, soulless scoundrels.
Sarah's entire message can be summed up as Honesty and Common Sense.
Mia, ha ha >>pass the popcorn . . .
and strap in . . .
Bestbud... Had a Quadruple by-pass 2005, been feeling great ever since.
sarah rocks 2012
Beehive,
LOL! That's true!
Also, you can't have Lindsey without John, so that wouldn't work.
Lindsey is alrealdy John's, Little Buddy. So, he couldn't be Newt's little buddy.
Need to think of someone else to be Newt's little buddy.
I wonder if the mole has figured out a system to keep up with the comments on Echo . . .
Jindhl needs a pacifier...Newt can train him.
good quote from TR, techno.
>> designed by God
- including massive RINO-ness of the "R", and even Newt's endorsement.
Shall we say a new chapter in American history is being unveiled right before our eyes . . . through Facebook ????
It looks like the dems are coming apart at the seams, healthcare bill staggering and stumbling without leadership before it crosses the finish line. Bill Clinton goes to Va. to rally dems to prop up Democratic candidate Deeds for governor of Virginia for $100,000. Reported turnout about the size of a PTA meeting...;( So sad....Bambi's a lame duck..OH MY!
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/oct/27/something-really-scary-for-obamas-democrats/
Sarah does even need to leave Alaska to win. If she shows up Iowa, she will have rest of republicans begging for attention.
Sheya,
made me think of a great true story by Dr. Dobson (about himself).
His son was severely hurt in a fall and had stones or something in his eyes. They rushed to the emergency room and had to remove the objects without novacaine. Dr. Dobson held down his son who was screaming "Daddy, Daddy, it hurts. Please make it stop", looking straight into his eyes.
But it had to be done.

The Team Sarah letter's from Bill Collier. He's burned people before.
It's worth repeating: I don't take anything as legit unless it come from Meg (or Sarah herself).
Good for Governor Palin. She is a capitalist and I hope she makes 100K for every single speech. She knows her market value.
The last time I checked, only ex-Presidents are making that type of speaking engagement cash.
Hmmm....
That line about her being able to beat Obama, in Runner's World, was more prescient than we thought
Fund hasn't been as dismissive of Sarah as Krauthammer is but he hasn't embraced her without hesitation either. I guess he's trying to figure her out as well.
I am like a kid waiting for Christmas. Sarah's endorsement has been like the kid that saw where the gifts are hidden, but really can't figure out what is in them. Can't wait for the coming elections, can't wait for the book release, can't wait for for Sarah on O's program, can't wait to hear about her other speaking engagements. So much to look forward to....got to get to bed so tomorrow will come quicker....hope I can sleep at 2:30 in the afternoon. Hurry, Hurry, I can't wait.
The WSJ article by Fund was good, especially the title "Barracuda . . . "
Meanwhile, Democratic strategists in Washington are privately beginning to downplay expectations for the race, hinting that they would not be surprised if Hoffman were to win outright, defeating both Scozzafava and attorney Bill Owens (D).
WOW!
No wonder why the forehead sent out his urgent shrill letter pleading for more money. If Doug can pull this off, it will be huge for the conservative movement, and it will be huge for Sarah too!
I LOVE that commercial and the pothole voice!
RINO
>>die on any hill Sarah points to
- that commenteter got that right.
the reason is we believe in the mission, and we trust our leader.
now, about Afghanistan . . .
Cavuto: Tim, thanks for being here. Now, about Sarah Palin . . .
Tim: Well, Neil, that way I see it, Doug Hoffman is [blah blah blah]
Cavuto: Tim, ok, fine, got it. Now, about Sarah Palin
Tim: (wtf ?)
Cavuto: Well, Tim, thanks for coming over ! For more Sarah Palin news, just watch Fox the rest of the night !
juju, ha ha, that's a good one, go to sleep at 2:30 in the afternoon so tomorrow comes faster . . .
I quit posting there after Collier threatened to ban me. I had a couple posts calling out that Mittbot douchebag Matt Braynard (professional political consultant/ beltway trash) after his nasty personal attacks against Sarah at FR. There was some RNC hack trying to take over the forum (his name was Steve, IIRC) who got into it with me and defended Braynard. This guy spent more time defending RINOs and his fellow RNC hacks than he did Sarah. Collier sent ME an email about being civil. He allowed that same RNC hack to run a bunch of other people off the board. So I haven't posted there in months.

I agree. We have all been burned on here before about the Guv's schedule. I have always been very skeptical with people announcing events she was coming to. I have decided to call the last few events mentioned and ask if she was coming to their events.
I think things are different now with Meg. Now the Guv has the speakers bureau which takes care of her paid speeches. I don't think they would be involved in anything such as campaigning or even the right to life speech. So we might never hear confirmation if it's a paid speech.
Does the speakers bureau ever announce their speakers events?
We never heard from Meg or Sarah about the Hong Kong Speech, the Wisconsin Right to Life Speech or the Ozarks. And actually, we haven't had confirmation for the Oprah show. All of these events have her scheduled and are selling tickets. (and some sold out)
So how are we suppose to know if she is attending these events?
Anyway, you're right. Haven't heard anything from Meg or Sarah.
What will it take to break you? I've got four tickets to the Packer/Vikings re-match at Lambeau Field this weekend.
Wouldn't it be something if you gave me Governor Palin's cell phone number and I invited her to be my special guest. One of my friends would be happy to sit in the bar anyway and watch the game in comfort while sipping a cold Miller Lite.
Let's see, an appearance in Wisconsin.....Lambeau Field.....Green Bay Packers.....Brett Favre coming back for the first time since he retired/un-retired/went to Jets/went to Vikings/and comes back in the visitor's tunnel. Ugh.
A purple state.....definitely in play for 2012....
Free publicity on Fox and the game will be televised to the majority of the country....
Have I peeked your interest yet?
Just so you know, this is the biggest football game of the year next to the Super Bowl.
My only problem would be her security team. There are no actual seats at historic Lambeau Field. You sit on a long bench. You think they would be nice to me if I bought them a couple beers?
Have I pleaded enough. Okay, hand over her cell phone number dammit.
HA! LMAO (I am cracking myself up now).
To whoever has Governor Palin's cell phone number: Tell her Hi from me! I am dead serious about the invite to the Packer game too. One more thing, tell her that she would be attending the game with 2 Republican women who were smart enough to vote for the McCain/Palin ticket and 2 Liberal women who voted for ding dong and Biden. Nothing like a 3 hour Packer Football game Women Bonding experience and a couple beers to help them "see the light" and vote for you next time. Screw Golf with Obama!
What about future presidents?!!
I was so disappointed in that she did not follow up with questions. It was like she did no research...very sad thing to see. I hope she gets bumped and Glenn Beck is put there.
I hope all of you who donated to the RNC will try and get your money back!!!...until the party changes guard.
Bill, I recommend that you get a honorary position at the Sarc Sisters Society. You deserve it man.
Just imagine if only the NRCC has the sense to ask Dede to recede from the race. Hoffmann would have this in the bag already.
Me too. past month I'd become slack in following c4P. Looking for more sleepless nights. :)
Meanwhile.....Newt is sipping Long Island Ice Teas by the gallon.
So much for 2012.
Oh yeah! Everything in life imitates great art, and this moment reminds me of that great scene in (RINO) Rick's Cafe from Casablanca when everyone drowned out the - ahem - "National Socialists" by singing La Marseillaise:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yt1vQ81jNWw&feature=related
watch it again, and see if you spot:
(RINO) Rick = the New York Republican Party...or the NRCC...or maybe even...AllahPundit ???
Laszlo = Sarah Palin
Ilsa Lund = The Conservative Base
Capt. Renault = Newt Gingrich
Viva La NY-23 !!!
I was wondering about the wording. "Retainer" is usually what you pay up front to a lawyer. "Advance" is what you get up front for a book. So my guess is the 1.25 mil was an advance on the advance, which I'm guessing was a hell of a lot more than 1.25 mil. If 1.25 mil was all she got, she needs a better agent. Hillary got 8 mil before she ever even ran for national office.
I think you might be right, especcially if its her vs obama.
