Associated Press in Full Attack Mode

First they illegally obtained the book. Then they posted distorted takes on excerpts from the book. Now they are "fact checking" the book, and they have devoted ten writers to the project!

Examples:

PALIN: Says Ronald Reagan faced an even worse recession than the one that appears to be ending now, and "showed us how to get out of one. If you want real job growth, cut capital gains taxes and slay the death tax once and for all."

THE FACTS: The estate tax, which some call the death tax, was not repealed under Reagan and capital gains taxes are lower now than when Reagan was president.

Where in her claim did she say that Reagan lowered the death tax? She is simply offering solutions that would lift us out of this recession. Who cares what the capital gains tax rate was in the 1980s? She is offering a tax cut now! Oh, brother.

PALIN: Says Obama has admitted that the climate change policy he seeks will cause people's electricity bills to "skyrocket."

THE FACTS: She correctly quotes a comment attributed to Obama in January 2008, when he told San Francisco Chronicle editors that under his cap-and-trade climate proposal, "electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket" as utilities are forced to retrofit coal burning power plants to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Obama has argued since then that climate legislation can blunt the cost to consumers. Democratic legislation now before Congress calls for a variety of measures aimed at mitigating consumer costs. Several studies predict average household costs probably would be $100 to $145 a year.

Show us the several studies. The Heritage Foundation has a detailed explanation of the costs of Obama's climate change policies. (And, by the way, even $145 is a lot of money for some of us.)

PALIN: Describing her resistance to federal stimulus money, Palin describes Alaska as a practical, libertarian haven of independent Americans who don't want "help" from government busybodies.

THE FACTS: Alaska is also one of the states most dependent on federal subsidies, receiving much more assistance from Washington than it pays in federal taxes. A study for the nonpartisan Tax Foundation found that in 2005, the state received $1.84 for every dollar it sent to Washington.

I know the the AP likes to blame Sarah Palin for all of the world's problems, but was she governor in 2005? As Governor, the earmark requests from Alaska decreased. Governor Palin is responsible for all of the money that has historically been earmarked for use in Alaska? She made it a priority for Alaska to become less dependent on Washington D.C. and encouraged Washington to open up land for Alaska's use in order to become less reliant on the federal government. Palin is correct that Alaskans exhibit a libertarian streak. Alaskans do not want the federal government controlling their land and preventing them from drilling!

Who is fact checking the AP?

Did the AP fact check Obama's books?

This is a full blown Pravda attack.

Is there any question that the AP is dangerously biased and at war personally with this woman?

Take a look at this "fact-check":

PALIN: Says she tried to talk about national security and energy independence in her interview with Vogue magazine but the interviewer wanted her to pivot from hydropower to high fashion.

THE FACTS are somewhat in dispute. Vogue contributing editor Rebecca Johnson said Palin did not go on about hydropower. "She just kept talking about drilling for oil."

Um, that was obviously a play on words. "hydropower to high fashion," get it?

And how about this "fact-check":

PALIN: "Was it ambition? I didn't think so. Ambition drives; purpose beckons." Throughout the book, Palin cites altruistic reasons for running for office, and for leaving early as Alaska governor.

THE FACTS: Few politicians own up to wanting high office for the power and prestige of it, and in this respect, Palin fits the conventional mold. But "Going Rogue" has all the characteristics of a pre-campaign manifesto, the requisite autobiography of the future candidate.

See! She wrote a book. Therefore she's ambitious and running for president! I had no idea that writing a memoir meant you were running for president. We have a whole lot of people running in 2012 then.

Yep MSM hypocrisy in full mode next week of Palin Mania.

ALso Politico "Areana" page has lots of positive comments by various  opinion makers on Palin future.

AKReport,  November 13, 2009 6:06 PM

the AP is a joke.

SK,  November 13, 2009 6:07 PM

Supposedly Politifact is going to be "fact-checking" her book too...

Western,  November 13, 2009 6:08 PM

The MSM is casting an early narrative of revenge and retribution as the major theme of the book.

The AP and other MSM channels ought to be ashamed of their lack of journalistic integrity.
Sarah's media blitz in the upcoming weeks, however, will discredit and refute the false statements disseminated by the MSM.

terri,  November 13, 2009 6:09 PM

Look,

10...YES 10 writers to "fact check" this book...good grief.

"AP writers Matt Apuzzo, Sharon Theimer, Tom Raum, Rita Beamish, Beth Fouhy, H. Josef Hebert, Justin D. Pritchard, Garance Burke, Dan Joling and Lewis Shaine contributed to this report."

manajordan,  November 13, 2009 6:11 PM

The AP is a bigger brat than the ADN. Way to give them a spanking C4P.

Sarah knows right now that the battle is not between her and the President. It's between America, including her, and political corruption in both parties, and a corrupt and unethical media, terrorism at home and abroad. The media's complicity in upholding corruption and dishonesty by being dishonest and unethical themselves is sickening. America is waking up, and Sarah is the loudest alarm clock these days.

WOW!!!...The AP...knows how to Fact Check?????...hmmmm...

Money Maven,  November 13, 2009 6:13 PM

Palin book is like a James Bond movie. The entire MSM is after this lone Rogue agent trying to save her country. lol

Dan C,  November 13, 2009 6:17 PM

AP are a bunch of professional liars. It is a shame most people have no idea.

KeeleyH,  November 13, 2009 6:17 PM

AP is slime. They want their "spin" out there before people have a chance to read the book. They want to influence people's interpretation of the book. I hope KARMA will come back to bite them big time one day.

RINO-Hunter,  November 13, 2009 6:17 PM

To the propagandist filth at the AP: Keep f#$kin' that chicken.

Nancy,  November 13, 2009 6:17 PM

They are not fact checking Palin, they are fact checking whoever wrote this book.

Bigfoot, perhaps?

Dan C,  November 13, 2009 6:18 PM

Every one of their so called fact checks is either an outright lie at best from them, or a debateable issue.

Nancy,  November 13, 2009 6:20 PM

The state run media, who rarely get their facts right, is fact checking a book, written by a person that they hate with the intensity of a thousand suns.

Oh yeah, this won't be biased at all.

Jack White,  November 13, 2009 6:22 PM

You should go through each of these "facts" as the AP calls them. Each one is obvious spin, or just flat out BS. And the thing that sucks is you can't even tell how much the AP took out of context. They put a lot of words in her mouth and hardley put in any solid quotes.

KeeleyH,  November 13, 2009 6:22 PM

Can HarperCollins sue AP for obtaining the book illegally?

Nancy,  November 13, 2009 6:23 PM

I'm sure it will be a veritable round table of journalistic integrity with those ten going over it with a fine tooth comb.

I am hoping our rogue agent Palin has a secret code in the book that reveals whether she is running for president in 2012.   Make those journalists work even harder to decipher the code.  lol

This pre-release drama is exciting.  How can one book generate so much interesst that they are fact checking her very line.

Yet Obama book is yet to be fact checked.

Whitney,  November 13, 2009 6:29 PM

C4P, you need to stop these posts today. You're getting dangerously close to making this (far from perfect) Christian go in a explitive-filled post.

I would like to turn Obama's words that he used (without mentioning any names) to call out Sarah in his joint session speech: "this would laughable if it wasn't so reckless and irresponsible"

This is absolutely ridiculous. The AP should fact check everything Obama says. That would correct the unemployment problem right there. It would take millions of people to properly weed (pun intended) through all of his lies.

katiejane,  November 13, 2009 6:31 PM

KeeleyH - I doubt they can or would sue AP.  Most likely they got hold of one of the books out for review and just did their usual hack job on Gov Palin.  She should ignore it IMO.

I must admit that I'm beyond tired of all the snarking about Palin in the MSM.  I'm  tired of reading the pettiness by Allahpundit at Hot Air that I think I'm going to ignore any threads about her that he posts.  He just uses them for hits knowing that her supporters and her bashers give him terrific hits on his site meter.

I'm beginning to think that I don't care if she EVER runs for any office.  It could be just as much fun if she sticks around driving the libs crazy and supporting candidates she likes.  Apparently no one else in the GOP has the stones to call the libs on their lies and backhandedness.  If she ends up hurting the GOP -  so be it.  At some point the GOP has to realize that they need to stop trying to be Dem-lite whether it is with Gov Palin or some other conservative candidate.

juju,  November 13, 2009 6:31 PM

One of the things you can tell on many of the media type blogs and other blogs that are expressing opinions about Sarah's book is:  The trolls are out in full force.  Just plain stupid.

You might want to save it for the morning though, LOL! You'll probally be up all night fact checking "THE FACTS" considering how much the AP fails here.

yogi41,  November 13, 2009 6:32 PM

How about we fact-check Obama's book(s)? The problem is, we'd have to read it and I have no desire to read anything written by Bill Ayers.

TSM Admin,  November 13, 2009 6:32 PM

10 huh?  Like 10 pins in bowling?  Ans Sarah will be the bowling ball!  S-T-R-I-K-E!

Nancy,  November 13, 2009 6:35 PM

I feel like we are surfing a roller coaster, tsunami, with our hair on fire, grinning from ear to ear, dropping bombs on some, scooping up others, smacking them around a little, and then flinging them out the window, on our way to the rally, to buy a book, that will make us all so proud, and excited for the rest of the ride, and not caring where it takes us or how long it lasts, just slapping this woman on the back, covering her spiritually always, and giving her cover when she steps out, pushing all of her enemies out of the way, when they dare step in front of her, and trampling them underfoot on the way to wherever it is we are going, and praying to God that He is leading her to where we all have a better country when she is done.

manajordan,  November 13, 2009 6:40 PM

That is a very good way to describe it. I'm getting that familiar knot in my stomach I had last year during the campaign. I so much enjoyed seeing the Guv in action, but I despised the way she was treated by the media and the corrupt elites in both parties. I'm really going to enjoy these next couple of weeks she is out, but we all knew, and so did Sarah, that it would be accompanied by the turbulent terribleness of the dishonest, unethical horribly biased media. Oh well, lets enjoy the ride!

Nancy,  November 13, 2009 6:40 PM

The libs always need to groupthink against anything Governor Palin says.
Remember they needed 2 Senators each  to try and debunk each of her op-eds this year. They think if there are 2 of them, they will get her.

Wimps.

cookboy,  November 13, 2009 6:41 PM

Christianity and cussin' are not mutually exclusive.

KeeleyH,  November 13, 2009 6:42 PM

Someone needs to expose AP for their malpractice. They have become a dangerous self-serving propaganda machine. Many newspapers print the feed from AP, and many people believe everything they read if there's (AP) next to the article. I used to be one of those people. I also know many nice, smart, very educated people who are not into politics and are too busy to read political blogs, who just believe everything the NYT, WaPo, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS and AP say. Because "traditionally" (as in many many years ago) these major outlets used to be the trusted news organizations. People still believe that because busy people simply don't have time to do their own research.

Nancy,  November 13, 2009 6:43 PM

Is Governor Palin creating 10 jobs here?

Whitney,  November 13, 2009 6:45 PM

On another note regarding media malpractice, I e-mailed the New Agenda about the MSNBC sexism thing from this morning. Amy Siskind replied to my e-mail, and they have posted something on their blog about this:

Bestbud,  November 13, 2009 6:49 PM

Yadda!..Yadda!...Yadda!.... Associated Press?... Is that the dry cleaners that presses those perfectly creased pants?... sounds like It's what they do... keep those pants pressed AP!... don't want any expose wrinkles showing up from WEE WEE every time  Obama hears what's her name and her side kick facebook.

Keep those pant presses running AP!... your guy's leaking profusely!... It's an uncontrollable consequence of stage fright!... called FEAR!

Nancy,  November 13, 2009 6:51 PM

What will make these 10 "fact checker's" heads explode.....more?

The parts about her faith
Or
The parts about her faith in action
Or
The parts about her faith being lived out in her life
Or
The parts about her praying when making decisions
Or
The parts about believing God has a plan for every life

What am I thinking!
They went to a right to life speech and came away making up  a coin controversy.
It will be something totally made up and totally Jerry Springer level.

Bestbud,  November 13, 2009 6:52 PM

So, so true... what is it Sarah said?... Sunday is coming!

Bestbud,  November 13, 2009 6:55 PM

Great thought!... that would be fun to decipher.

Nancy,  November 13, 2009 6:57 PM

They will spend days "fact checking" the stories about Bigfoot.

KeeleyH,  November 13, 2009 6:59 PM

I have no idea what Sarah is thinking right now regarding her political future. But sometimes I wonder if she might want to become a full-time whistleblower.

yogi41,  November 13, 2009 6:59 PM

Bret Baier just corrected his mistake from yesterday and apologized. Classy guy.

Then, Charles K. and Nena Easton (don't know if I have her name right) poo-pooed her book while on the panel with Bret. Charles said it was written in haste, written largely by someone else, so he doubts it will change anyone's minds. Nena said Sarah blames Nicole for her Couric interview and that she had better stop blaming everyone for her problems and start owning up to her responsibilities.

Seriously, these people who haven't even read the book and are making these judgments make me sick.

Lakerfanalways,  November 13, 2009 7:00 PM

I just saw a NEW clip of the preview of the Sarah interview on Oprah on Monday..OH MY GOD..I did not know this, but apparently according to Oprah asking Sarah, they even controlled WHAT SHE ATE!! I have never heard such a thing in my life, they controlled her like an abusive husband controls their wife..controlling what she put in her mouth..what the hell were they so afraid of, that she might eat some Democrat food or something LOL..UNBELIEVABLE. Just unreal..hey did Brett Haier ever apologize today for the BS cover that he put on his show yesterday of Sarah's book

AKReport,  November 13, 2009 7:04 PM

these beltway hacks have not even read her book.... yet they make silly judgements.

Bestbud,  November 13, 2009 7:04 PM

Nancy

I may have said this before, sleep since then!... I've always enjoyed funnies... but you have a terrific featured attraction too... that was glorious!

Manajordan

That knot in the stomach I understand all to well also

TangledThorns,  November 13, 2009 7:07 PM

I bet if we did some background checking on these AP writers we'd find a liberal agenda or two.

Bestbud,  November 13, 2009 7:09 PM

Or is Sarah the first to actually have meet the elusive and incalculable criteria of 10 SAVED JOBS!

Nancy,  November 13, 2009 7:09 PM

This is hilarious.
The "fact checkers" just came across a mis-statement in her book.
One time on the campaign trail she said: "You betcha".
But in the book, she wrote: "You bet you".
Or, it could be the other way around. I am sure we will hear more about this later.

Another earth shattering "fact checked" revelation.
One time on the campaign trail, her daughter asked for a Diet Dr. Pepper, as she recounts in the book.
But, that isn't the whole story!  An "anonymous" source says, that when her daugher was given the Diet Dr. Pepper, (horrors!),  Governor Palin took a sip.....so, this is incredibly important stuff here, things that can be used against her someday.

Whitney,  November 13, 2009 7:09 PM

We need to listen to Obama. We can't jump to conclusions about the shootings at Ft. Hood, but the AP can jump to conclusions about Gov. Palin's book.

We all thought that people would have the book reviews written before the book came out, and indeed, that is what has happened.

yogi41,  November 13, 2009 7:10 PM

Where did you see the clip? Is it available online?

By the way, YEA!!!! We beat Phoenix last night!

Whitney,  November 13, 2009 7:11 PM

Did she put "g's" at the end of her words in the book too?

NY59Giants,  November 13, 2009 7:17 PM

Don't forget that Nena's husband was one of the major politcal hacks with the Romney's campaign last year. She did make a point of mentioning it last year during the campaign, but not any longer.

Charles has his good points, but he often likes to come across as a Washington elite and downplay any of us from fly over country...i.e. Sarah and anyone who supports her.

GAHanson,  November 13, 2009 7:17 PM

Just goes to show the level of panic being felt by the DNC, MSM, and some within the gop.  They are attempting to turn back the tsunami of book sales, the huge crowds at book signing events and speaking engagements, and the huge impact of the national and local interviews she will be giving all over the country.

AP is, and has been taking its marching orders from Axelrod and the DNC since last year.

Nancy,  November 13, 2009 7:18 PM

They didn't want her eating a bowl of alphabet soup, because  she would crap out  a better message/campaign strategy than they did.

tim c,  November 13, 2009 7:19 PM

Rush calls them AP obama, seems to be a well reasoned call. If we pay checked the stringers I'll bet they only reach poverty level, they have a quality control issue.

yogi41,  November 13, 2009 7:22 PM

I figured Nena had some type of personal vendetta against Palin. I didn't tie it to Romney, but I did get the feeling she was trying very hard to stick up for Nicole. I just figured they're probably buddies and she's going to spin it in Nicole's favor.

Nancy,  November 13, 2009 7:22 PM

Bestbud,
Thanks!:) You are a sweetheart!

Sapwolf,  November 13, 2009 7:27 PM

Krauthammer will never get Sarah, which is good! He thinks Obama's "charismatic". He's almost obsessed with Sarah though ala Peggy Noonan. He says things that are meant to hurt.

Easton's got to be frcken kidding (I think her husband's with Romney and she's the quintessential RINO). This woman's been attacked like no one else in our history with barely a peep in response. When she FINALLY defends herself, she's "a whiner".

Hayes is a good guy and quickly becoming the Star of the panel. He recommended that Italian guy's book (who's name escapes me) which is VERY pro Sarah. I intend to get it tomorrow.

All the right people don't get her. Their time's gone. They wear their Ivy League/Beltway connections like a coat of arms and think of themselves as born to run things. It's over for them.

What the hell is Nicole Wallace doing showing up on Hannity btw?? He gets her 1st cable interview and repays her like that?

In the acknowledgments section of her book "Going Rogue", obtained by the Huffington Post on Friday, Sarah Palin thanks her friends in the media — by first name only:
To some media professionals whom I admire because you don't let anyone tell you to sit down and shut up, please keep making the idiots' heads spin. Thanks for not taking our Freedom of the Press for granted, you bold and patriotic, fair and balanced media folks. Keep calling it like you see it: Amanda, Andrew, Ann, Bill(s), Bob, Cal, Dennis, Dick, Eddie, Fred, Glenn, Greta, Hugh, Joey, John, Jonah, Larry, Laura, Lou, Mark, Mary, Michael, Michelle, R.A.M., Rich, Rush, S.E., Sean, Tammy, Walter.... And there are more. I join you in standing up for what is right. Remember that as your voice is heard and your spine is stiffened, the spines of others are stiffened, too.
Hmm, wonder who that R.A.M person is? :)
