Is it safe to watch? I refuse to listen to left-wing drivel...

Kentucky Colonel,  November 30, 2009 12:26 PM

Take a look at this:

Sarah Para Bellum

Kentucky Colonel,  November 30, 2009 12:27 PM

Except for the one little snarky woman, it's a pretty good watch.

wisetrog,  November 30, 2009 12:30 PM

It's unusually good for BBC.

Rogue2012,  November 30, 2009 12:43 PM

PALIN 2012!!!!!!!!!without a doubt!!!!!!

Enrigen,  November 30, 2009 1:02 PM

At first, I didn't want to watch the clip, but I finally did out of curiosity.  I'm surprised that the BBC actually appeared somewhat reasonable in this clip.

What I really find intriguing is that the panel in general, even the more liberal ones, agreed that the mainstream media in the U.S. was elitist, biased and misogynistic.

cookboy,  November 30, 2009 1:04 PM

It'll send shivers down the appropriate spines. I like it.

KeeleyH,  November 30, 2009 1:05 PM

It's a pretty decent panel for the BBC. I<span>t's nice to hear the American woman, who isn't a Sarah fan, say that Sarah is a conservative, not a right-winger. Sarah should do a book tour in London. The Conservative Party in the UK invited her to speak at some event last year, I wonder if the invitation still stands.</span>

Money Maven,  November 30, 2009 1:06 PM

I love this type of discussion.  I wish more American panelist would discuss book reviews like this.

Money Maven,  November 30, 2009 1:08 PM

And oh by the way, can you all believe the big Palin bwuahaha now is about whether she is travelling by bus or plane. How naive can people be to think she can travel all those states by bus?

cookboy,  November 30, 2009 1:08 PM

Actually, it was just about spot on. The beauty of it being that many of the commenters words, which for the most part are good observations, seem to be spoken derisively. One very good obervation "WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT", referencing what was referred to as the "East coast media".

toughluck,  November 30, 2009 1:08 PM

I love her expression, and her holding her blackberry (her weapon of choice) with 'death panel' on it.

I dont like the way she sits, but it is funny how she stepping over Alinsky's 'Rules for Radicals' book (with the red pumps). I assume the snake referes to the 'Don't tread on me' flag and its connection to the tea party movement.

I could not make up what the pin-up button on her blouse with the '4' on it means, the jpeg does not have the resolution. You can see a 'life' button though.. no need to for high resolution, everyone knows what that one is about :)

Nice symbology, I wish a higher resolution pic was available

KeeleyH,  November 30, 2009 1:08 PM

This BBC clip? It's pretty good. It's safe to click.

cookboy,  November 30, 2009 1:09 PM

She must be the Eleanor Clift of the group!

cookboy,  November 30, 2009 1:11 PM

Stepping over Alinsky? I saw it being ground into the floor!

cookboy,  November 30, 2009 1:13 PM

Hell, she could walk it barefoot, and sleep on a bed of nails!

KeeleyH,  November 30, 2009 1:18 PM

Everyone is surprisingly fair to Sarah, except for the woman in black hair who's very out of touch. It's an interesting discussion.

GAHanson,  November 30, 2009 1:19 PM

Yeah, I saw that a few days ago on Google Alerts.  The loons are grasping at straws with that and the Turkey Trot, they're just flinging sh!t to see if anything sticks, their usual pathetic tactic.

Jamika,  November 30, 2009 1:22 PM

Careful what you wish for! I'm British but just cannot stand much of anything the BBC does and the fact that I'm forced to fund the corporation through taxation is a particular problem. Sure, its nature documentaries and whatnot are very good (with the taxes of all the people of Britain, they better be!) but when it comes to politics and current affairs... NOooooo thank you. Personally, I prefer to watch Fox New's Strategy Room for discussions about todays issues - and there are hardly any adverts at all, which allows the programme to flow better.

Having said all that, this clip about Going Rogue is quite good. Minus the old woman with fake black hair, I'd say it was a decent segment.

ZH,  November 30, 2009 1:26 PM

<span>Actually, </span><span>it's pretty good (</span><span>except for the woman in black hair</span><span>) </span>

Her title listed under her name is Academic.  So I would say she is a liberal Academic Elitist exactly the opposite of Sarah.

So that lady must feel insecure, if everyone loves Sarah, what must they think of her... Lipstick says Old Hag, lol, he he he!!!

Anonymous,  November 30, 2009 1:35 PM

Libs should stop counting the private citizens’ money. She can travel by anything she wants and can afford. At least she is not spending taxpayer’s money.

Jesse Cornish,  November 30, 2009 1:36 PM

Sarah Palin's strength is what lies in the people, and it is the people who will lift her to victory in spite of GOP's party bosses wishes. You think of us as nothing? We will go door to door. We will donate money to a Palin campaign. We will cast our ballots on election day. We will do what we feel is best for our country, not what is advantageous to Washington insiders. The power of the people triumphs the power of a corrupt Republican establishment.

NoDak-Coley,  November 30, 2009 1:36 PM

Not too bad, i resisted at first but had to click.  Minus the old woman and some snarky comments by the moderator it wasn't so bad.  Even the obviously pro-obabmaite american sees the writing on the wall with the american media and appeal.  I think we are seeing a media that is starting to turn, turn on obama, and finally seeing a little glimmer of light that is Sarah!  I have a good feeling that as she meets more and more of these people and does more interviews that the opinion of the media will soften considerably.  With that we will have a blow out 2012!!

cookboy,  November 30, 2009 1:37 PM

Why would you not refer to an old hag as an old hag. She worked hard to earn it.

LAW,  November 30, 2009 1:38 PM

Where there is the epitome of elitist cr*p. The Baroness is a nutjob who obviously has no clue about Sarah or Americans. The prissy brit guy should head back to Eton where he can discuss his navel lint w/ other like mindes snobs. The playwrite got the conservative part right, but then had to dig the knife in. And then you have the scruffy college professor type. He can't help himself; he likes Sarah. Possibly an open mind?

I need to go take a shower since I'm obviously a member of the Cult of Sarah and I don't have a brain for myself.

Don't forget to tip your waitress.

Anonymous,  November 30, 2009 1:39 PM

This woman in red outfit obviously did not read the book. She said that Sarah does not credit anyone for helping her. BS, there are many reference in the book to her family, friends and co-workers who helped her.

<span> </span>Then she said: This book is all about Sarah. <span> </span>Well this is the Sarah Palin memoir.

I catch it quite often that anit-Palin people did not read the book from cover to cover.

PatrickinOH,  November 30, 2009 1:45 PM

I posted that back in the open thread

Seabee,  November 30, 2009 1:48 PM

or Noonan, or Parker or Dowd in that oowfool getup

johnmd,  November 30, 2009 1:48 PM

And there has been several private book signings i would assume that are with donors to Sarahpac.

NoDak-Coley,  November 30, 2009 1:53 PM

The funny thing about that is I was just reading the part in the book where Sarah assembles the gasline team while governor and she says:

"I won't pretend to have all the answers, and I won't micromanage you. You guys are the experts; that's why I want you here."

Sure sounds like someone who likes to take all the credit!! Bahahahahahaha!

Just one of many many examples, ur right, she didn't even OPEN the book!

johnmd,  November 30, 2009 1:55 PM

Where are you seeing the plane travel conversations.,, The plane that carried her to Billy Grahams home belong to Franklin Graham and that is fact because i checked the n number id.

conservativemama,  November 30, 2009 1:58 PM

Fabulous idea!  I think the British silent majority would come out in droves.  That would drive our dear leader and his sychophants absolutely mad.  Remember the world loves him...........right?  What if they love her?  Whoa!

Check out the American Thinker today.  Read about what's happening in Switzerland.  Read about how the Greatest Generation in Britain is dismayed at what's happened to their country.  I think Europe is ready for Palin authenticity and Palin's love of and defense of country.  She is in the mold of the big three: Reagan, Thatcher and Pope John Paul II.  She is true, she is unshakeable in her faith and beliefs.  She is the read deal.  She is the antidote to the lie that sits in the Oval Office.

hrh,  November 30, 2009 2:08 PM

I stopped getting Google alerts last spring. They are about as left as you can get.

Try Bing.

Or better yet goodsearch.com. It uses yahoo but you can choose your charity and with each search, a donation is made for your charity. And you can check the donations, too.

Recovering Democrat,  November 30, 2009 2:12 PM

She reminded me of Sally Quinn who set women's rights back 40 years when she said Sarah Palin should stay home and take care of her children.

Do these women not get how silly they sound? Women actually work outside the home, ladies. They have children. They work. Why should a female politician not be able to do the same?

manajordan,  November 30, 2009 2:13 PM

Thanks for posting it. I viewed it with caution, but it was actually pretty well done. I particularly enjoyed their takedown of the American liberal media.

Recovering Democrat,  November 30, 2009 2:15 PM

I think they really like Sarah and say she captures the American spirit.

Of course, their approach is much like professors of anthropology explaining the cultures of a nomadic tribe. But they genuinely seemed to appreciate Sarah.

Maybe there is hope yet for Brits, Sheya! :-)

yogi41,  November 30, 2009 2:23 PM

Love the blackberry! Thanks for that, KC.

terri,  November 30, 2009 2:43 PM

you guys,

I don't think this is such a great discussion.
Hoy Paloy british elitists thinking they know us, and all about our politics. They think they know how we feel about our country and what it and we are going through right now.
They don't know squat!!

Calling us cultists and how Sarah is "Ghastly". Worst of all, she's "just a celebrity..that's ALL she is".
That she's "ego-centric" and how you "don't get to know anybody...it's all about Sarah" (DUH).... well except for the "favorite child" Piper.
If those guys really understood Sarah's supporters, (or as they call us, right of center, conservative cultists) they would know that we probably know just as much about Sarah's family as we do our own....geeezzz.

And they should talk, as if the british with their princes, princesses and queens don't have THEIR "favorite child".

Uppity British authors discussing and trashing her book because, "they're the REAL writers ya know"....no thanks, I'll pass!

There is no one more elitist than an "acedemic" or author with a british accent.

riley4palin,  November 30, 2009 2:51 PM

I like the term old hag for the Baroness in the Red Coat.  She also is in dire need of a Cucumber peel under her eyes.  Goodness, she looks rough.

toughluck,  November 30, 2009 3:32 PM

I found the original inspiration.. That explains the pose, the snake and the book.
A take on Rosie the Riveter, Cool.

KeeleyH,  November 30, 2009 3:38 PM

Someone on the BBC panel pointed out the fact that one of the reasons McCain picked her was because of her independence. It's reminding me of chapter 4 in her book about the campaign. As I was reading that chapter, seeing the way she was being muzzled, I realized the incredible irony in all this. During John McCain's convention speech, he said very proudly that "...and she will not let you tell her to sit down and shut up!"...and the whole crowd at the convention roared and applauded enthusiastically.  How very ironic that the first thing the campaign did was to tell her to just shut up and stick to the script, and when she didn't, she was "going rogue".

NY Conservative,  November 30, 2009 3:39 PM

Ok, someone please tell me, when did David Brooks decide to get a sex change and start calling herself Baroness Afshar?

terri,  November 30, 2009 3:56 PM

Look what I found...Don't ask me where, you dont want to know...lol

"DCCC Executive Director Jon Vogel sent the following message to DCCC supporters: She says that health insurance reform is "downright evil." She says that President Obama is trying to create "death panels." She even says that she hopes health care reform will be "dead on arrival."

You and I know that the only thing dead on arrival whenever Sarah Palin grabs a microphone is the truth. Only now, her lie-riddled work of fiction called "Going Rogue" is selling like gangbusters - and it's up to us to give it a proper response.

The media is closely watching to see how grassroots Democrats respond to Palin's attacks before the all-important November FEC deadline that hits Midnight Tonight.

<span>Help us raise $50,000 before Midnight Tonight for our Emergency Health Care Rapid Response Fund so health care supporting Democrats under attack by Sarah Palin and the right-wing lunatic fringe can fight back.</span>

Midnight Tonight marks the first FEC deadline since the House passed health insurance reform that includes a strong public option. That's why Palin, Limbaugh, Beck, and their 'tea-party' worshipers have cranked it up a notch.

This month, National Republicans even started raising millions to target 24 Democrats who voted 'yes' on heath insurance reform with a lie-riddled ad campaign called 'reverse the vote' to try and pressure them into changing their votes. We need to show these courageous Democrats that we have their backs.

<span>Help us raise $50,000 before Midnight Tonight for our Emergency Health Care Rapid Response Fund so health care supporting Democrats under attack by Sarah Palin and the right-wing lunatic fringe can fight back.</span>

Don't let Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue" traveling circus become the thing that kills health insurance reform. The world is watching to see how we respond - but we only have until Midnight Tonight.

Thanks,

Jon Vogel
DCCC Executive Director
Boy, they sure are petrified of a 5'5", beauty pageant winner, soccer mom  aren't they?!?!?!!?

Sapwolf,  November 30, 2009 4:28 PM

Notice the black woman acknowledging that the USA is a right of center country.  She is not a fan of Sarah, but probably to protect Obama she tries to play the meme that Sarah will be a kingmaker rather than the GOP candidate.

The Left may in the end try to push that strategy.  This lady knows that Sarah will beat Obama by 2012 if O doesn't get his act together.

When an asteroid is heading to destroy Earth, you try to deflect it because that is much easier than obliterating it.

Keep your eye and ears alert to the Left trying this strategy, a strategy that has been made more difficult with the news of Huckabee's Christian vanity in commuting such a beast as the one in WA state.

lmg,  November 30, 2009 4:32 PM

Remember you're talking about the land of Lewis Carroll here.

Thanks, you nailed it!!!!.... Glad you said Old Hag... I think I would have said worse... I've come to the conclusion, unbelievers of Sarah and what she stands for will still be rewriting her LIFE and PRESIDENCY till the day they die!... probably arriving in Hell and telling SATIN... Thought you of all lost souls could bring Sarah down!... and Satin replies... you totally OVERESTIMATED me and UNDERESTIMATED God and Sarah!

lmg,  November 30, 2009 4:35 PM

And McCain was probably one of those telling her (through surrogates) to sit down and shut up.

Sapwolf,  November 30, 2009 4:37 PM

She IS like one of them said:  Annie Oakley crossed with Margaret Thatcher.

lmg,  November 30, 2009 4:40 PM

What is DCCC? Is that like CCCP?

Sapwolf,  November 30, 2009 4:45 PM

Heck, I heard she ran across the whole country and never stopped at any restaurants because she ran down and killed animals for her food and ate wild berries and honey the whole way.

And her Mom knitted the animal hides together for clothing and her sandles were made of old tires.

When she got to the Mississippi, she swam across and refused a ride over from some fans with boats.

In Topeka, she witnessed a car accident, whipped out her BB and called 911, then set a guys broken leg in place before paramedics arrived.

When she got to Ebbetts Pass on the east slope of Highway 4 in Nevada/CA and was told it was closed for winter, she barrowed some snowshoes and pushed through saying "Ah, it's just a few hills" in 6 feet of snow over the pass.

Then she flew back to Alaska with Todd in their tin-can plane with some bottles of wine from Napa Valley to make it to Piper's X-mas play.

KeeleyH,  November 30, 2009 4:46 PM

She also said nobody reads the New York Times. LOL.

Sapwolf,  November 30, 2009 4:48 PM

Bingo!   I knew right then she didn't read it.

ChillinInMN,  November 30, 2009 4:49 PM

Looks like they're pooping bricks...

Sapwolf,  November 30, 2009 4:49 PM

I agree it was still biased, but not as bad as you would have expected from the BBC which my whole life has been the biggest leftist joke outside the US media.

Sapwolf,  November 30, 2009 4:51 PM

Yep, that was what I found confusing about McCain.  He picks her because of her maverickiness in taking on her corrupt GOP in Alaska, but then like the GOP in Alaska tries to keep her down and out of sight.  Foolish strategy.

techno,  November 30, 2009 4:52 PM

SARAH PALIN IS NOT A HYPOCRITE. SHE LIVES THE LIFE SHE WANTS OTHER TO LIVE AND THAT'S RARE.

Yes it is and that is why Palinistas will never desert her and that is why the Far Left hate her. Hypocrisy is the currency of the Far Left and its policies. They fear Sarah will expose them for who they really are.

ChillinInMN,  November 30, 2009 4:55 PM

Would have been much better with one the pencil skirts and legs crossed. One should always be lady-like while destroying the radicals.

I think she said, "Queenmaker," and acknowledged that the next Republican nominee will be a woman.

Bestbud,  November 30, 2009 5:09 PM

I've come to the conclusion the unbelievers of all that is Sarah will still be rewriting her LIFE and PRESIDENCY till the day they die!... and when arriving in Hell!.. will tell Satin... I thought you of all lost souls could have brought Sarah down!... and Satin will boldly reply, as he is prone to do... you totally OVERESTIMATED me and UNDERESTIMATED God and Sarah... that is why you are here!

ChillinInMN,  November 30, 2009 5:14 PM

Correction: the old woman with the black hair is "Ghastly" - yikeroonies!!! Someone should tell her to stick to radio.

AndreaB,  November 30, 2009 5:16 PM

I was not sure at first but its ok. The woman in red will make ya wanna slap her upside the head a couple of times. The others seem to get Sarah even if they don't totally agree with her politics

AndreaB,  November 30, 2009 5:32 PM

I have heard her thank her team several times. Sarah thanked Meg for being her right hand woman and again in the book for helping her when she was in Cali getting the book together. Sarah knows she can't do it alone and thanks those that help her like say um.....thanking the good folks at C4P. We should send the One In Red a copy of Sarah saying how she didn't like writing about herself in the Greta interview.

dr.vicki,  November 30, 2009 5:35 PM

never trust a woman with "fruit bowl" bangs.
HA

dr.vicki,  November 30, 2009 5:37 PM

Sap wolf, I laughed so hard I had tears streaming down my face.
Thanks

Huskers-For-Palin,  November 30, 2009 7:44 PM

I disagree with the ending......Palin IS NOT an invetion of the MSM (that's Obama).  Sarah Palin "has it".  She has a grass root support, an interesting story, a political philosophy that connects with the common person and walks-the-walk.

Love That Lady,  November 30, 2009 9:26 PM

That lady in red:
"She doesnt admit that taking care of 4 children (man: five!) a household and a career ia a problem"
Man: "she does all the time, she says its tough..."
Redlady: "but we never hear about all the people around her that assist her, she never mentions them.."

What a clueless windbag. She never mentions them because there arent any, other than her kids and husband, who has a job of his own. She has a tough job

What? is it a crime to be a mother and have a career? is she creating false expectations and by doing so harming young women? What a female chauvinist!

Nande,  November 30, 2009 10:19 PM

Thanks for posting this (I realize I'm a few posts behind...) - it was a pretty good discussion.  The arguments against the Gov. were re-hashes of those made by (NAME OF MEDIA SOURCE HERE), but this panel had some slightly different observations that I found interesting, perhaps due to the fact that they are outside of the U.S. fishbowl looking in.  All in all, I appreciated their honesty (a few snarky comments notwithstanding).

What was most clear to me is that those who mis-understand the Governor - on this continent or another - seem to always misunderstand her in the same ways.  That tells me that she's consistent in her words and actions, and "they" are simply not getting what she is communicating.  Thus, are they lost causes?  Perhaps...

PS: I loved the "nobody reads the NY Times" line!  It was said with such disdain...it was PRICELESS! :)

Bestbud,  November 30, 2009 10:40 PM

Amen also!

"snort"
ROTFLOL!!

JP,  December 1, 2009 1:12 AM

I say the dudes (I use that term loosely) read the book.
The prof with the mussed hair really likes Sarah.
He was almost giddy.
Was he hugging his book???
He looked (to quote Susan Boyle) gobsmacked!!  LOL!!

The other stuffy/prissy fella had a hard time being snarky but I guess he stiffened the upper lip in the British tradition and gave it a go.
It was weak...

The women?
They didn't read the book...too busy sucking lemons.
In my part of the world, we call them 'presumidas', or 'sangronas'.  (wannabe elites)

Before Gore, Kneel,  December 1, 2009 3:15 AM

I've thought that among the Things That Sarah Should Do is that she make a courtesy call upon the Queen. Like visiting Billy Graham, the contrast to the current oval office occupier could not be more extreme nor appropriate.

Nicky,  December 1, 2009 7:18 AM

And nobody mentioned the woman with the black wig is from Chicago.

Nicky,  December 1, 2009 7:19 AM

The black woman looking like the old hag is from Chicago.

Brigadoon,  December 1, 2009 5:52 PM

Only a woman who says "Woe is me!" can bee seen seriously? They can't bear anyone to be happy or enjoy life. Meeting everyday sruggles and difficulties is living life to the fullest. They are just looking for the illegal nanny expense scandal like all of their PMs.

And the black woman, Sarah is "just a celebrity." Bitter much?
