Gov. Palin in WI: Don't let anyone tell you to sit down and shut up!
First of all, let me start with how Governor Palin looked tonight. We all know that she is a beautiful woman, but that does not come close to describing how she looked. She was stunningly beautiful tonight. Maybe better than I have ever seen her look when I have seen her in person.
She had on a two piece pink business suit on. Not really pink, but a fuchsia, close to a red color. Very tan and nowhere near as thin as she was immediately after her resignation. To me, that was a little too thin.
The Governor wore her hair down, with the sides pulled back. Her hair has grown quite long over the last year. It looked fantastic.
As far as the numbers geeks are concerned, there were probably around 5,000 people there. The speech lasted about 35 to 40 minutes.
Most importantly, her smile was back bigger and brighter than any have seen in a while. To me, the most striking part of her appearance was her eyes. She has the glimmer back and her eyes were dancing around the room. She looks healthy, happy and full of life.
As she stepped to the microphone when the cheering began to die down, the Governor’s first thoughts were on America’s military forces. After asking all of our current military and veterans to stand, she asked for a moment of silence. She told us that during the moment of silence she would be saying a prayer and invited us all to do the same. After the moment of silence for the soldiers currently serving at Fort Hood, she immediately thanked our military personnel for their service to a raucous round of applause and cheers for our military.
The Governor then spoke briefly about her attachment to the state of Wisconsin. I believe she stated that one of her grandfathers was born in Chippewa Falls and her father went to school with Jerry Kramer (a Packer football star in the early 60’s).
Governor Palin then began to tell a story of a conversation she and one of her friends in Alaska had a few weeks ago. Her friend had picked up a couple of the relatively new $1 dollar gold colored coins. They were discussing what was missing off of the front of the coins. Those four little words that have gotten America through her most troubling moments, “In God we trust”. As she observed; those four little words have been pushed off to the side of the coin. No longer prominently displayed on the face of the coin but those words have now been hidden on the outer edge of the coin. As she observed, this is kind of where we, as a Nation, have shoved God in our own lives. She even stated that she had kind of done that with her own pro life movement. Yes, she was always pro-life but it was not really something she prominently displayed until she became pregnant with Trig.
Oh boy, when she talks about Trig, her entire persona just lights up. You can tell this woman is completely in love with that little boy. Governor Palin admitted that she was afraid before Trig was born on how she would handle a little boy with special needs. She also mentioned how she and Todd chose to work through the problems together.
The governor also spoke briefly about Bristol and the choices she had to make and the love and joy that Tripp has brought to their lives. Clearly, Governor Palin is very proud of her daughter and her grandson that is almost a year old. Governor Palin stated that people make mistakes but a beautiful child came as a result of that mistake. A mistake is no reason to take a life.
There were plenty of religious references that would send the lefties into spasms. It was rather refreshing to see someone speak of their religious beliefs at a political event. She even read John 16:13 to the crowd: "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative..."
To my fellow pro-lifers, this passage makes sense to all of us. The governor’s speech was so passionate and so full of love for all of God’s children. As she stated many like to call us “anti-freedom or anti-abortion”, but the truth is that we are “pro-children.”
Something else to make the liberal heads spin, she then progressed into the health care reform bill. Questioning why it is that lawmakers will not take the time to read the bill. Governor Palin also spoke of the need for Speaker Pelosi to allow an amendment to bar American taxpayers from having to pay for abortions.
This line of speaking brought us to my favorite line that the Governor stated this evening: Abortion is NOT health care.
Personally, this was my favorite line. These words are so very true. A baby is not something simple like a wart that you can just have removed; it is a life and that life should not be treated like every other health issue. (The whole wart analogy was mine, not the governor’s. I did get her point, though.)
Governor Palin spoke at length about the Pope, John Paul II. Pope John Paul II had a real passion for life. Wisconsin is pretty heavily Catholic and the crowd went nuts each time she referenced some of the passionate words the Pope spoke in on the issue of life.
The governor even spoke about “panels” of bureaucrats making health care decisions for the elderly. The governor also promised that health care rationing is coming if this health care bill is passed in its current form. You could see the light dancing in her eyes as she spoke of the “panels of bureaucrats.” That was fun to watch.
The Governor also spoke about the real “change we can believe in” when it came to advances made by Wisconsin’s pro-life movement. Earlier in the evening we had seen some charts showing that Wisconsin’s abortion rates have gone down by over 50% in the last fifteen years.
The speech was simply fantastic and advanced the “right to life” movement. The speech was well organized and easy to follow. It ran the span of life, beginning in the womb and moving all the way up to fighting for the life of our elderly and those that cannot take care of themselves.
This was probably the most passionate and heartfelt speech I have ever seen the Governor give. She stayed on the point that we must continue to fight for life. All life is worth fighting for; from pre-born stages and all the way to up to our elderly.
Governor Palin left us with these words: "Don’t ever let anyone tell you to sit down and shut up!”
Not to worry Governor, I am not the sit down and shut up kind of person.
Great news to all of you Sarah Palin fans out there... the governor is rested, looks great, fired up and ready to rock. Her book tour is going to be a lot of fun. I cannot wait to see her again at a book signing.
PS. I chose to follow the rules and placed my cell phone in the car before the event started. Wisconsin Right to Life had asked us not to bring our cell phones or any photographic or video recording devices into the event. I felt it would be disrespectful to these guys to bring in my cellphone so I could Twitter and blog during the event. Sorry.

Thanks for the write up, KC! So wonderfully written I felt I saw the speech myself. The best part was reading that the Gov looks good and is ready for battle. She's been training! Can't wait to see her on the field! One last question: What was the crowd reaction? What were people saying afterwards?
The crowd reaction was great. A good mix of elderly to teenagers were there. Everyone was as stoked as I was. We got there around 4, so we got seats pretty close to the front
I have some Palin buttons and bumper stickers that I have been selling at different events. I brought them and sold out on everything by a few bumper stickers. I was surprised. I figured a bunch of people would be selling stuff so I did not bring everything I had...I should have, no one else was there.
Everyone's favorite...the Palin/Reagan buttons.
Thanks so very much for telling us about the experience. It sounds like it was wonderful. Thanks for letting us know how she is looking and all.
The speech sounded on point and passionate.
Thanks so much for sharing, KC! It seemed like a fantastic speech, as if I would have expect differently.
Boy, am I kicking myself for not buying tickets and making the 5 hour drive up to see the speech.
Awesome report, thanks!
KC, how did you sell your stuff? Did you have to get permission? Or was this outside? Maybe I could do that, and pay for my trip to Missouri next month. I have to stay over night as it's about a 4 1/2 hour drive.
Thanks so much for the great speech summary!
Thanks for sharing the experience!
Great read K.C. ...Thank you for staying up, and telling us about Sarah's speech.
I wish I was there, to see The Light Dancing IN Her Eyes.
.
sarah rocks 2012
Kathy,
Thank you for the excellent write up.
Can't get enough of this woman, American patriot, statesman.
I'm a 52 year old woman, and I have my very first political hero in Sarah Palin. It feels kinda weird to be so fond (and protective) of a person, let alone a politician, whom I've never met. I never cared about ANY politician before.... no one else even caught my radar politically. Maybe it's the dire times we are living - maybe the scales were only recently removed from my eyes - maybe it's my tremendous love of the country that I feel is seriously being threatened - (and it's more about country than even loss of freedom) - maybe it's Divine inspiration calling to get behind her. I don't know. But, senses are definitely heightened.
For me anyway, something very, very powerful is behind the draw to this woman.
(sorry for babbling)
Thanks for the write up!
Kathy,
Thank you for the excellent write up.
Can't get enough of this woman, American patriot, statesman.
Thanks for the write-up. It was greatly appreciated. :^)
After hearing this account,I don't think the Gov has any plans to run for the presidency. This account of her sppech appear to give a lot of religious references and close to prostelyzing of the audience. I can't remember if Huckabee ever gets this religious at a political event. This is why if the Gov really has plans to run, she needs to get a serious speech writer and one main advisor.
If she really wants to attract liberatarians and independents, she must know many of them are not religious and many are still pro life. Charles Krathammer and Christopher Hitchens to name a few.
The analogy about the coin and "In God we Trust" was great but going to read passages from the bible was a bit overwhelming. Anyway, she is still my favourite politician and I hope she learns lessons from Reagan time in ther wilderness. He was spiritual but NOT hit you over the head religious.
Everything she says will be use against her if she runs in 2012. As VP nominee, the MSM had little info on her but opposition research is going to be hounding her every word to play back to her.
Thank you for the wonderful summary of the terrific night you enjoyed. You have a future in journalism for sure. Thank you for honoring your hosts on the request with respect to cell phones. People these days do not honor and respect one another very often and it was refreshing to see someone who has integrity and honor. A word to those who were hoping for twitter news during the speech. We must act above everyone else to prevail in our fight. We must be separate and although in this world , we must not rationalize and act as if we are of this world. Honor and integrity should be our defining moments.
She only quoted one passage and it was briefly. I didn't even catch the reference.
I was there too. I saw Sapwolf. That guy's got time on his hands, apparently. Anyway, here's my account. I'm going to bed: http://barbaricthoughts.blogspot.com/
sehinco, love the avatar
MM, I hear what you are saying but this was a RTL event, for goodness sakes.
MM, she is who she is, and for that we love her.
Uffda, thanks, will read later today.
KC, awesome, I am stoked.
That was an awesome write-up K .. You made my Saturday!! I can't wait till the book tour, I plan on seeing Sarah in Roanoke.. SARAH AMERICA FOREVER !!!
The Governor is speaking as a private citizen to citizens who chose to hear what she had to say. It's called FREEDOM OF SPEECH. If they come after her, she'd take them on -- on this very issue. Don't sit down and don't shut up, she said!
Money Maven, I would classify myself as a Catholic libertarian conservative (yes, it's quite long haha - socially conservative but economically and politically libertarian) and as such I believe it is Palin's God-given right to speak freely. You mention neo-atheist Chris Hitchens, but would he really be so bigoted as to not vote for a person because they were a practicing Christian, even if he agreed with that person on many of the issues?
I understand your point that it would be offputting to some to hear biblical passages but much of the Bible contains truths that extend beyond the realm of Judaism/Christianity and apply to our very nature as human beings. I see nothing wrong with expressing those self-evident truths in public.
Perhaps that's just what America (and the world) needs? Someone to speak openly and honestly without fear. It may not necessarily guarantee an election win but it would awaken the minds of many people and help to bring about a better society.
K, outstanding job. Thanks for the diligence to give us such a detailed report. We all greatly appreciate your efforts.
I'm still trying to figure out a way to make this Birmingham thing happen. Right now, a friend, and fellow Sarah fan, is looking into whether or not she can go with me and drive, which would prevent my getting too tired with all that driving I'll be doing that week anyway. If it happens, it happens. If not, hopefully there will be an event closer some other time.
Sounds like a great speech, too bad we all won't get a chance to hear it, but your account fills that void very well.
I was just about to mention the new Facebook posting, but techno beat me to it.
Just got an email from Amazon advertising a new booK:
Sarah Quaylin: Left-Wing Smear Attacks on Rogue Conservatives
Reading the The New York Times or listening to MSNBC would make you think Sarah Palin is too much of a dolt to tie her own shoelaces, let alone govern a state. It's no accident the left-wing elite media treats her in such an undignified manner, or that they've done the same thing to other candidates in American history. The Left knows well how to destroy a life, even in the 176th trimester. Sarah Quaylin: Left-Wing Smear Attacks on Rogue Conservatives reviews for the first time the pattern of brazen tactics employed by the elitist establishment to undermine any candidate who may be a threat to their entrenched power. The way Sarah was treated should have been a surprise to no one; the exact same thing had happened only two decades prior. What may surprise you is just how many of Sarah's enemies are within her own party. This book is a tale of the anti-elite versus the elite, the reformer against the establishment, the rogue who fights the powers that be. It is a tale of powerful interests doing everything they can to destroy a person who may upset their position and expose just how far this country has come from its founding. Finally, it is an optimistic, but cautionary message to those young liberty-loving men and women of our country: liberals are sissy little ankle-biting lemmings. They can certainly overwhelm you if you let them, but it's really not too hard to send them marching off a cliff. You can't say you haven't been warned.
(This is, by my count, book #35 featuring Gov. Palin, that is available on Amazon)
Techno,
Can please except mine apology again for the other day. The above write up is more of the stuff thats needed i.e. the positive analytical and uplifting instead of the negative stuff.
PS. I deleted my outburst.
KC thanks for the write up.
Thanks so much, KC.
I just carried a bag with me. I was out of stuff within a couple of minutes. I just put the bag back in my car once I was out.
In football terms the negative is a SACK for a lose of yards. The positive on the other hand is a first down.
Thank you for the write-up.
KC Thanks for the excellent write up!!
Did Anyone ask (KC, Sapwolf) the Wisconsin Right to Life if they recored the event for thier own organization? Thanks!!
I was there last night too with my husband and seven year old daughter.
It was incredible evening. My daughter was able to get her autograph
and Sarah asked her her name and thanked her for coming. She also told
her that she liked her shirt she was wearing.(It said Palin Power) My husband was who is a military veteran was very touched by the
moment of silence Sarah called for. What a contrast from Sarah to our
President who wants to give his shout outs before acknowledging the
soldiers who lost their lives at Fort Hood. A wonderful evening we wont
soon forget!
I've read Uffda's excellent account. She took good notes.
KC, thank you for the write-up. I only wish I could have been there.
I think after another year or two of our agnostic president, even the "Easter & Christmas" Christians will be clammoring for a leader like Sarah.
Thanks KC. I felt as though I was there last night! Our fightin' 'Cuda is back to stay!!
The belly of the beast is good, yes?
Thanks to those who attended and shared their impressions of Gov Palin's speech.
I disagree that her speech indicates that she isn't interested in running for President. IMO this was NOT a political speech and she had no need to water it down to appeal to the squishy independents. This was a speech to a RTL group and she spoke to them in their language. It might have been too religious for a public access interview but it was totally appropriate for that audience.
Thank you!
Someone was recording it. I do not know if and when we will be able to see it online.
KC did a great job. The main point I took away was Sarah reframing our position as "Pro-Children" Not anti-abortion. That was insightful on her part. I think I might have met wallflower at the event : ) It was great night Sarah thanked me for coming and I got to shake her hand.
Thanks again sooo much!!
KC--
Thanks for your great write-up and personal observations! What a great way to start my day. I can't wait to get back and read it again as well as the comments.
Take care, Barbarians! See you later.
Sarah invoking her faith may seem politically risky, but its necessary for what she is trying to do. She is trying to restore us to the liberty and freedom of our founding. Our founders knew that a people entrusted with self governance needed to recognize a universal moral code to survive. They saw religion as the means and distilled the tenets of all faiths into a "religion of mankind" that all could agree to and that would serve as the foundation on which to base a government.
How can Sarah not take champion liberty and self governance without recognizing the role of faith? Unlike the secularists, we don't feel humans can be an adequate substitute for God, especially when entrusted with the power to run our own affairs.
Yes its risky, but I feel its as it has to be. However, since she selflessly and sincerely has put her trust in God, things will work out for the best and as they are meant to be.

Thank you so much for the great write up KC! Well done! It really seems like it was a great night and a great speech to behold.
"The speech was well organized and easy to follow. It ran the span of life, beginning in the womb and moving all the way up to fighting for the life of our elderly and those that cannot take care of themselves."
The arc of life. The governor gets better with earch and every speech.
Praise God for Sarah Palin!
I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
1 Corinthians 1:4
Thank you KC for such a wonderful article. You did a great job in describing the event.
We appreciate you.
God bless, Irma
Prayer Warriors for Sarah Palin
As others have said, what a great way to start the day! Thanks so much KC, and to Uffda and the others who attended and posted. I too feel almost as if I experienced through your report.
Of course I knew that the GuvWeLuv would look great. And no surprise to read of those beautiful, luminous brown eyes so full of life.
But then you had to reveal that her hair is even longer now?? Oh, my!
Knees...going...wobbly.
The lovely and incomparable Sarah America. God has blessed her abundantly.
Thanks again for that wonderful report.
Sarah places God first, her "political career" is not her agenda. The Will of God is her agenda. She continues to give God the glory for all she does.
The enemy wants us to think that if she adds God's Word to her speech it will tarnish her "political career"; in fact it has embolden her to go forth and continue on the mission God has placed her on.
For those who say otherwise, they need to read God's Word:
But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33
Blessings, Irma
Good point. I hope I didn't imply she is using her faith to serve her politics. It is most definitely the other way around. Thanks for clarifying!
Thanks so much! I appreciate very much that you shared this even though you had to have been exhausted!!!
I LOVE the line, "...beauty could come from less than ideal circumstances."
and, "...she asked Todd and God, "Why us?" And Todd said, "Why not us?"
(NOTHING more SEXY than a man that loves and cares for his children, and that picture on the sidebar you have on your blog of Todd holding Trig and checking his phone...ahh yep, heart melting here...)
and the line, "...she was thankful for all that her family had gone through in the last two years, and that she wouldn't trade it, nor Trig, nor his extra chromosome for anything in the world."
Oh this was definately good stuff...
THANKS SO MUCH Uffda. You done good girl ;)
Thank you for the report. I personally also liked the comment that "abortion was not healthcare".
Thanks so much for giving us a glimpse of what seems to have been a wonderful evening! The next few months are going to terrific for Governor Palin and, by association, for all of us - I just feel it!
Thanks again...well done!
It was her Grandmother who is from Wisconsin, Chippewa Falls, WI.
Sarah Palin's Ancestry
She has Cheesehead blood in her so I guess she ain't all that bad.
Go PACKERS !
MM.. see now that is EXACTLY what is wrong with this Country. Why must he curtail her GOD comments to suit the Moderates and Independents or Libertarians? SCREW THEM! They helped elect a GODLESS PRICK for POTUS! They helped elect a GODLESS CONGRESS!
Let Sarah be Sarah.. and if she dies politcally...she dies politically! But she would go down on Principal and Beliefs in this Nation...UNDER GOD!
"She looks healthy, happy and full of life" thank you for the report...
Her strength and what brings hope is her ability to shine in the face of adversity.
You did good in not taking in a cell phone and blogging from the event in fact I prefer your write up this way, maybe you would have missed something. (besides it would have been disrespectful), no need to apologize.
Sarah is rested, in good spirits and ready to go :)
Uffda,
Thank you for that wonderful write up.
I loved the part about her not doing this alone. She is so very humble.
She is something else.

Merely saying that to best understand ones adversary, it's good to be inside his head. Ignorance is not a weapon.
I am the last person to be saying what anyone should do. Too much of that is the root of a boatload of troubles for all of us.
Evansville was much more wideranging, kind of a bookend with the HK speech. But she does clearly point out, without the right to life, it's all academic
Thank you, K. Carpenter!
Loved reading about her awesome speech!
i can understand your comments, dearest CruelaDev.
The respect that KC demonstrated to the organizers is exactly what Sarah would have done and most ordinary folks as well. Thank you, KC for your article...I would love a picture of the Palins from last night.
Great report. Thnak you.
Was reading from 2 Samuel 23 this AM. These words spoken were some of the last words spoken by King David. Sarah would never claim them for herself, but I thought of her immediately as I read them. How appropriate they are as we apply them to her.
The Spirit of the Lord speaks through me,
his word is upon my tongue.
The God of Israel has spoken,
the Rock of Israel has said to me:
One who rules over people justly,
ruling in the fear of God,
is like the light of morning,
like the sun rising on a clouldless morning,
gleaming like the rain on the grassy land.
Oh, how America, indeed the whole free world. needs this woman as its leader! I pray daily that God in his grace and mercy will bring it to pass one day.
thank you for doing this...it is really good to see a young one like you so dedicated to freedom. Your parents did you right!!!
wow .... so early in the morning!!!
And your husband and daughter must have been excited as well. Besides her parents, your young miss has another excellent role model. Praise God.
and just like the enemy would like us to believe that the Fort Hood murderer was suffering from PTSD, truth is that the poor soul was deceived by his islam belief into doing this American jihad. God's Hand is in this as well; the man lives and was shot by, horror of islamic horror, a WOMAN. Prayers for the complete recovery of all the wounded.
yes, johnfromcanada, i agree as the gal from calgary. The USA and Canada needs Sarah.
It's funny, but I just listened to a compendium of Obama speeches during his "Great Apology Tour" and he made many direct quotes from the Koran. So I guess it's ok for a president or presidential-candidate to quote non-Christian religious books but when Christians quote the Bible, that's a no-no?
Awesome job K! sounds like it was better then her indiana RTL speech.
K. Carpenter,
Apparently Jonathan Martin of Politico was at a different event last night from the one you attended. I wonder if he was even there at last night’s event. Did you happen to see him there?
FTA in part:
While she drew applause during her remarks, Palin’s extemporaneous and frequently discursive style was such that she never truly roused a true-believing crowd as passionate about the issue at hand as she. Not once during her address did they rise to their feet.
In a closing exhortation, she urged the audience, “Don't ever let anyone to tell you to sit down and shut up.”
She then got a standing ovation from most of the crowd, but a few had begun to leave before she even finished and within seconds of her concluding, scores more got up and put on their jackets as they walked away.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1109/29267_Page2.html
By the way, I hate Politico.
Don't these guys all have their articles written before she even speaks?
If I were at a meeting where a serious issue like abortion were being discussed, I don't think I would stand up and applaud as if it were a political rally. Apparently this Martin fellow is just tone deaf.
I don't buy this account. The people present PAID to be there, so why would they "leave before she even finished." They knew exactly the theme of this speech so it make it appear that those in attendence were somehow put off by the speech is silly. Furthermore, KC stated that Palin's speech was easy to follow and logically laid out before the audience. I call BS on the comment, "Palin's extemporaneous and frequently discursive style," failed to make people rise in their seats. If I'm not mistaken, the crowd has several outbursts of applause throughout her speech. Finally, he naturally left out the part where people were chanting her name upon her entrance or where they rushed forward to get her autograh. Hell, I wasn't even there, and I got a better idea of what happened from KC's report than this mook. Journalists these days are effing useless.

Halperin was allegedly there:
http://thepage.time.com/highlights-of-palins-friday-night-remarks/
O.K., Martin wasn't there personally, the article does say: "at least three reporters, including one from POLITICO, attended simply by purchasing a ticket like other members of the public."
Even so, there is a huge disconnect between what KC witnessed last night and what JM writes up in his rag.
I hope KC can comment on this.
KC,
Did she get the front-page treatment in today's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel? It appears that way from the website but I wonder about the print edition.
I believe Krauthammer is pro-choice...
She knew it was live-streamed on CNN, etc., and she was still the Gov, so it had to be wide-ranging.
She knows how to structure her speeches for the audience. The GridIron speech ought to be a corker!
This was not a campaign rally. The issue being discussed is pretty serious. You don't jump up and down when talking about abortion for heaven's sake.
You know, even Sarah mentioned this...It is not pro-lifers that are the extremists anymore. A majority of America is on our side. Which means, these liberal reporters are losing control of their talking points. Most of America does not support killing babies like the media does.
This same thing happened at the RTL speech in Indiana. It is not a campaign rally and for a reporter to not be able to tell the difference just makes the reporter look like a blithering idiot.
I will check that out Tommy... I have not seen a Milwaukee paper today. I have been at home all morning chasing the leaves around the yard. I will check in a bit when I go out.
Thank you KC, I thought as much.
Even the Milwaukee Journal made this statement:
"In a personal and passionate speech, Palin lauded the state's anti-abortion movement for legislative advances achieved over time.
"We were told to sit down and shut up," Palin said. "Wisconsin, you went rogue."
Palin spoke movingly of her youngest son, Trig, who has Down syndrome. She recalled that when she was pregnant, she underwent an ultrasound and the technician told her, "I see boy parts.""
Even the Milwaukee Journal noticed the passion in her speech and the moving story she told of Trig.
I am not certain where the Politico is coming from. Clearly they used her moving speech to bash the Governor.
The MJS website article is balanced and seems to be on par with what KC witnessed, quite unlike the Politco .

Mudflats sent someone as well:
http://www.themudflats.net/2009/11/06/boots-on-the-ground-notes-from-sarah-palins-appearance-in-wisconsin/
And from 620 WTMJ Radio:
In part:
Huge and enthusiastic turnout last night at the Wisconsin Right to Life event for Sarah Palin. Standing rooming only -- and very fired up -- audience.
I haven't see a crowd that energized since the Ament recall rallies.
And, yes, Sarah Palin is as attractive in person as she is on TV...
http://www.620wtmj.com/shows/charliesykes/69460707.html
pro-child, per Sarah
Heh, Andrew Sullivan seemed to like what Palin had to say according to the Mudflats report.
as a physician, i have been at events that I have had to leave because I was called back to the hospital.
People actually have lives to live.
People in the audience become ill.
People have have to get home to a loved one who needs help.
This thing about people leaving is not a measure of the interest in the event but measures the foolishness of the writer who observes it.
And one more VERY IMPORTANT thing about people leaving.
Everyone knows thar bigfoot is famous for bad body odor.
Who would not leave to escape the smell? Especially since Todd was not there and bigfoot was probably in a seat up front.
Funny that Karen did not mention this.
Seriously, great job, Karen!!!
Politico always casts her in the worst possible light. It is a disgrace. They say the speech never ignited passion in the crowd. Well, I take Karpenter's word over theirs anyday.
Very, very nice writeup, Uffda. Thank you so much!!
Thanks Irma.
From Uffda's blog: "She then mentioned the size of the crowd and said that she liked it for selfish reasons. She said that she looks out at the crowd and thinks, Thank God; I am not doing this alone."
This statement comes from a much different heart, than what we see coming from our current president. His whole attitude would be the size of the crowd reflects how popular HE is, how so many people adore HIM. But that doesn't come into play in Governor Palin's mind. This speech was all about progressing the culture of life, and so when she looks at that huge crowd, she sees fellow soldiers in a culture war for the soul of America. She sees herself as one of us, and is thankful, just like the rest of us, to know, that we are not alone.
Governor Palin's humbleness is one of the reasons I support her.
She makes me so proud to support her.
I agree wholeheartedly...this is the integrity that Sarah stands for and KC
should be applauded
Amen!
Mrs. Palin can take "tanned and rested" to a whole new level. I'm glad she's looking stronger and more beautiful than ever. Looks like the last months as Gov were taking it out of her. Can't wait to see her! I'm thinking of going to The Villages. Last time I was there for "Sarah Stock" 60,000 yikes!
She is my role model.
I want to be just like Sarah Palin when I grow up. Humble, conservative, a non-typical politician- yeah, that sounds real good.
On the contrary, this would not repulst indies and libertarians. Reagan was full of religious references and was a dear ally of the Pope on pro-life issues.
Indies and Liberarians are making their voices herad in NJ, VA and at the tea parties. Sarah will be like gasoline on a campfire.
It has been a long two weeks. First heading out to Watertown to help the Hoffman campaign, then to Medina, OH to have dinner with a friend, then to Milwaukee to see Sarah last night.
K's review of Sarah's speech is right on, and yes, she looks radiant and in fighting shape. I am now one of "Sarah's Roges". K., I was the one who stood up with the dark green sweatshirt.
Her speech touched on all the bases. As a Catholic, I was particularly impressed with Sarah's quoting Pope John Paul II. She is attuned to the makeup of her audience and her passion for life flowed.
I also want to note the VERY impressive statistics of Wisconsin in its pro-life efforts. It is obvious they are very effective in saving babies and their mothers. I hope if they have not already that they can train or teach their success to other state-level organizations in other states.
I was able to get in close to have Sarah sign something for a friend I met there, but all I had with me was a copy of Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals". At first, I thought this was not appropriate, but then after thinking more about it, I felt it would be appropriate given that it is the enemy's playbook and when I presented it to Sarah, she expressed a little "Whoa-ho-ho". I think it is very important for us to understand the thinking of those who are pushing the progressive agenda and the Culture of Death. I told some people there we need to understand the enemy without using their extreme tools.
I'll bet Sarah has read some or all of that book and so I felt it not inappropriate that her signing of that book as NOT an endorsement, but an understanding of what the left is willing to do for their agenda so we can better counter.
I'm at a hotel near the Detroit airport. I'll be seeing my 6-year old son tomorrow midday. My ex-wife told me he wants a globe for his birthday in two weeks. I was shocked.
On the road I popped in my Rosary for Life CD and prayed the Joyful Mysteries thinking how far the Pro-Life Movement has come and how far we have to go.
Sarah is our 'happy warrior' and ready to lead the country back from the brink and hopefully to the Culture of Life.
JM is the hack behind the Iowa hit piece. He probably gets no respect from the Palin camp. Dont expect anything to be fair and balance from this john.
Sapwolf,
Thank you for your hard work, helping Doug Hoffman. You had many, many people praying for you! You and all the other people that helped did well! Thank you!
Also, I appreciate your report on Governor Palin's speech. I love that she signed the enemy's playbook! Great stuff!
Hope you have a wonderful visit with your son.
Thank you for putting actions to your beliefs and your support of Governor Palin!
God bless and take care of you!:)
Thanks Sapwolf! For everything! :)

Yes- the article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was on the front page of the print edition paper. I bought one to check it out.
Kathy, Thanks for the write up.
Is there at all an audio or video recording of this? Did the event organizers record it?
I am a non-Christian eclectic pagan and Lady Sarah's devout Christianity, religious beleifs and public statements DO NOT BOTHER ME ONE BIT! As a Pan-Theist I can accept virtually any other person's beleifs as long as they are not in serious conflict with my own moral structure. I respect "spirituality" of most any kind as long as it IS Spiritual. The only people who should have any real problem with Lady Sarah are radical militant atheists and intolerant religious fanatics of ALL types, including Christians!!!!!

I drove 400 miles (from Duluth to Milwaukee) to see her. I was stunned by how good looking she was--better looking in person than what she looks like on TV (and that is pretty good!).
The crowd loved her and her speech was very good. She is a brave and courageous woman. The battle that is being fought against her is unbelievable and she is not only still standing--she is still fighting for what is right.
After the speech many from the crowd rushed to her and gathered around as she was signing autographs. I managed to get not only her autograph--but I sheepishly reached out and touch her arm. I wanted a connection with this woman who radiates such truth and honesty.
WOW. That's all I can say. WOW. She radiates light.
Okay, the reason for this is that there were thousands of people there, it was around 9:00 - 9:30 at night, many people (like me) had driven four or five hours to be there, and we wanted to get out of the parking lot before everybody else did. It had nothing to do with not liking what she had to say, only the realization that with the throng around her there was no chance of seeing her anyway, so you might as well hit the door before everyone else. The same thing happened all the time in college - everybody bolted for the door to beat the crowd. Sheesh, Politico, give it a rest.

OK, finally got to read your account, Uffda. Excellent! Thanks for being there and giving us such a great report.
I am curious...did she just sign or did she pen a quick note as well?
Thanks for that link, MANY commenters who were apparently AT the RTL event.....
