Governor Palin Discusses Faith
Last week Governor Palin and her family had dinner with Rev. Billy Graham and his family. While there, the Governor was interviewed about her faith. Those who have read Going Rogue know that the fiber of faith is weaved throughout its pages. Those who have paid attention to her at all know the importance of faith in her life. While she does not shove her faith down anyone's throat, Governor Palin certainly doesn't hide it. She isn't ashamed of who she is. In fact, she states that her faith in Christ is her "be all, end all."
One reason ordinary Americans respect Governor Palin is because she is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of person. She is--as so many have acknowledged--the real deal. No pretense. No hypocrisy. Just who she is. She's grateful for her Alaskan upbringing, grateful for her family, and yes, grateful for her Christian faith.
Always grateful for her faith.
President Obama is not opposed to talking about faith either, like when he appealed to religious leaders when he was looking for support for his Health Care Bill. In that speech, about which Andrea Tantaros so eloquently wrote in an article called "Obama Plays the God Card," he quoted Scripture and claimed, "We are God's partners in matters of life and death."
However, the President also seems to tuck away faith at will, like when he said bitter people "cling to guns or religion," when he blew off the National Day of Prayer, and when he, a professing Christian, asked that Georgetown cover up the name of Jesus.
People are entitled to embrace or reject faith. That's part of being an American. It is not for me to dictate how one leads his or her life in that regard. However, I have heard and seen enough to know that one reason Governor Palin appeals to millions of Americans is that she knows who she is and she reveals herself without shame--not forcing it on anyone else, not hiding it either, and not teetering back and forth when it's politically advantageous to do so. What a breath of fresh air to see that kind of transparency and boldness in a leader. In this, she stands miles apart from President Obama.
Governor Palin simply is who she is--and she is a woman of faith. That fact has been ridiculed by some and praised by others. Either way, it is what it is.

she dedicated her life to Christ in bible camp. where's obama's tales of his youth? Stunning video with the fireplace roaring behind her.
Thanks Adrienne for the blog and the Lord's love.
I posted the vid to TeamSarah.
Kudos from Florida.
Thanks for sharing that Adrienne! I'll be posting that at Caffeinated Thoughts tonight (and giving you a hat-tip of course).
This is a very nice video; thanks for posting. I like her last sentence; very true and is true for all who minister to others: to meet people where they are, not where we are coming from (usually our big fat egos). A true servant leader, so refreshing.
Praise God for Sarah Palin...she is not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ because it is the power of God to save.
I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was seventeen...
One thing is for sure, the media will not be able to say they no nothing about her. The Governor is transparency. The Governor is also extrememly comfortable with who she is and will not need to have all of the media photo opt stuff to make herself appear to be relating to the people.
(Remember John Kerry's hot dog, windsurfing, gun toting stunts)
I remember in her convention speech she said: "My fellow citizens, the American presidency is not supposed to be a journey of personal discovery."
If she does decide to run for "higher office" she will be able to get on with common sense conservative policy ideas and promoting America exceptionalism. We'll all know her intimately by then and can get on with moving this country forward, too.

I believe that's Billy Graham's living room in his cabin in the Carolina Appalachians. Lovely, lovely spot.

Thanks for posting this Adrienne. Her faith is such a rock. Of course she has not been overcome by any of the torrential storms thrown at her, she is founded on a rock!
Thank you for posting this video!
Our pastor's sermon this morning was on the passionate pursuit of God for us. Luke 15, some were muttering that Jesus spent so much time with sinners. And from that complaint, Jesus told 3 parables, one right after the other. The one lost sheep and how God searches for and finds that one lost sheep. The woman with one lost coin and how God, lights lamps and sweeps, until that lost coin is found. And then the prodigal son, how God constantly scans the horizon for his lost son, and when he sees him far off, he runs to him, hugs him and has a grand party for his precious son. And it is as if the father has been fattening up the calf for just this celebration of his son being found and coming home.
In all of those situations, the sheep, the coin and the son, all were part of something. And God either actively searched for each precious thing, or ran to the son and celebrated the return of the son. He never gives up, He never throws in te towel on us, and there is always God seeking to bring someone lost back to Him.

Philippians 2:13
Thanks Adrienne for the Post and the video!!
Is refreshing how open Gov. Palin is with her faith! She is not ashamed. There is a book by Southern Californian Christian Comedian Thor Ramsey. He has penned a book called "The Comedian's guide to theology" It is extremely Funny and very deep at the same time!!
Amonst other things he discusses the dialouge between Emergents and Conservative Evangelicals.
In the chapter called "In defense of the Uptight" Ramsey talks about growing up with a special needs child (not a biological sibling) and how uncomfortable he was for a while to live with her until he got to know her. Ramsey says that a lot of christians treat the proclamation of the gospel like the embarrasment that a child may have of a sibling who has special needs.
God bless you Gov. Palin!!!
God proves Sarah right time and time again. She tryed to warn us about David Letterman. Even though she had no evidence Mr. Letterman was unethical, she wrote about his sick jokes. What happens? Mr. Letterman is in relationships with his staff, and Sarah is proven right. Same thing has happened with the death panels. We have just learned about the "Panels" dictating when a woman should have mammograms. Just as she tryed to warn us about rationing.
I went to Fairbanks just so I could attend Sarah's picnic. Amoung 5,000 people I turn around and Adrienne, who I have never met, is standing 2 feet from me.
P.S. Todd was wearing a black fleece vest that day. When I drove down to Denali I had to buy one like it. Todd is a fashion icon : ) Denali is amazing.
God is good.
I remember that day! Very cool to see you there.
