Perhaps Our Spartan Was a Woman All Along....
From Black Conservative at Redstate
Considering this former Fredhead can become a Sarahcuda trooper, the question is not how do you solve a problem like Sarah; for the conservative movement, it is how many matches do we need for someone willing to pick up Reagan’s torch? It’s time to go rogue and make a difference in our party and in our country. I asked a couple weeks ago where was our Leonidas? Perhaps our Spartan was a woman all along. You betcha!
He likes her because she is a fighter but she does it with grace and good cheer
The real problem that the Leftists have with Sarah is that she is Rudy without the legendary snarl
As for the antics of the left and their surrogates in the media they will continue to characterise her as a trailer trash airhead acting as the mouthpiece of a minority of religious wingnuts straight out of “The Crucible” – but, as The Dark Knight says in one of the few conservative movies to come out of contemporary Hollywood “the fact that they’re trying to kill you means you’re getting to them.”
And that my friends is the problem with Sarah!-she has exposed the Left and is seizing the leadership mantle of the Right, while putting a sexy fresh face on the conservative movement.
Meanwhile – what of Frum, Brooks and those anonymous Republican strategists and consultants so beloved of Jonathan Martin at Politico?
What Sarah has done by embracing the Tea Party movement, and the conservative movement is divide the party. She has drawn a line in the sand and stated clearly, and unabashedly that she stands with the conservative wing of the conservative party, and that it is more important for us to be a party with values and principles, than a party that is willing to stand for anything and fall for everything. This is the key to revitalizing the Republican Party-as much as some of us would at times want to pack our balls and go home, the only way for conservatism to have a political voice is within the structure of the Republican Party.
......
A new leader brings a new direction, and the fear that the fat cats could lose their place in the Washington elite and actually ..gasp..be held accountable for their voting comes as a shock to most of the Congressional GOP. So why attack and address the message, when it is far easier to attack the messenger?
Good stuff from a former Fredhead – read the rest here...

Sarah just killed on the foreign policy questions on Oreilly
WOW are you all watching BOR..she is knocking it out of the park..she ROCKS!!
Sarah Rocks.
I thought the O'Reilly interview was good, but not a knock out....just my opinion! ;)
Liberal guest on BOR to grade interview. Liberal guest says, "she dodged every question blah, blah, blah, blah, blah".
How predictable.
Poor lib, says she dodged every question..really, what question did she dodge..poor libs, their Preisdent is a one termer, poor baby
I had to turn off the B.O.R/ interview before the Iran questions. Sarah looked very intimated. She cannot seem to stop the run-on sentences. She was unwilling to say those things about Obama that we know she believes about him. She was very McCain-like in that section. Not our 'Cuda.
Most of the electorate will never read her book and the media will certainly not help her explain the true reasons why she left office. If she continues to use the " I was heading into my lame duck session" to explain why she left then why would we be surprised that many view her as a "quitter". She could have possibly nipped it in the bud by now if she gave succinct answers and/or called out the Anklebiters. But, it will still be a major issue in 2012.
I thought the first 10 mins of this interview was her weakest.
Watch it again. She engaged every issue more then obama ever has, but hey its cool:)
Poll of C4Pers: Who do you think BOR voted for last yr? I'd say Obama, but I'm not sure. I think he regrets it a bit now, realizes Obama is much more left than he portrayed himself as.
Good to see she's doing well, although I hope we don't get interview overload. It can get to be too much.
I really think this shows the McCain team blew it by waiting to the last minute to announce her and have all this secrecy so it could be a surprise. They should have announced her earlier in the summer and given her more time and experience to get used to the media and the rigors of a campaign. Or at least let her know she'd be the pick earlier than 2 days before the announcement.
Tonight's interview with O'Reilly was not the best, but i believe these interviews, especially these challenging ones, are the type Palin must do better on in order to proceed forward in anyway to the presidency. She is a wonderful woman and we all love her, but she has to show the chops, because people will suffer her plight with the media for only so long. They acknowledge that she has been treated unfairly, but now is the time to show the substance. She didn't descend into Couric territory, but she was not strong enough or confident enough in her mind about alot of the foreign policy questions.
With all the above said, she is not running for President right now and I am sure that she will be able to better analyze and provide insightful answers when the time comes.
Has anybody noticed that Sarah does her best interviews in the morning rather than the evening?
I think a few of the questions shook her up a little bit. She did not seem visibly shaken, but she started rambling a bit. That said, she did pretty well. I like the fact that she takes Iran and Afghanistan seriously and understands the role of our allies in negotiating with Iran. I like how she pointed out how Obama bowed to foreign leaders. I have a feeling that in her head she wanted to slap Obama when he suggested that terrorists be transferred from Gitmo to Alaska. I know that's how I feel about my Governor wanting to bring Gitmo detainees to Illinois!!
She certainly wasn't intimidated like Obama was. She actually interrupted O'Reilly to answer a few times. Not that anyone's asking, but I'd give it a B as an interview.
I totally disagree with your analysis...she was confident, knowledgeable and engaging.
I have no idea what you people are talking about. Sarah ansewred all of those foreign policy questions as good as anyone else has. THERE IS NO GOOD SOLUTION TO IRAN! No one will say "yeah lets turn them into a glass factory!"
No one should tip their hand in that regard.
I agree with Sarah that she would've been in a lame-duck-like status, but I HATE IT when she uses that word. I wish she would explain it differently.
I thought Palin handled herself pretty well. The problem is BOR was asking questions to which there are no easy or right solutions. How do you get Russia to play ball? You can't, but she can't come out and say that either. So it comes down to how well you can tap dance around those questions. Palin's not a pro at it yet, but the more she does this, she'll catch on.
Watching segment 1 now of O'Reilly over at Freedom Lighthouse.
I thought it was good. They covered a wide range of difficult issues and this interview would have been tough for anyone to do really well in. I think, and I could be wrong, but I think asking her the question, "are you smart enough, are you intelligent enough" to be POTUS, may have gotten her a little bit off her stride. Personally, I thought the IQ question was condescending and it pissed me off. I cannot ever recall , a potential candidate for any office being asked the question "are you smart enough, are you intelligent enough", except maybe for Quayle in the VP debate; but only his experience was questioned, not his intelligence. But despite the condescending IQ question, I thought Sarah did quite well.
Are you people blind, she did GREAT. She knows her stuff and she talked about foreign policy because she knows her stuff..she knew about Russia something BOR was like "very good" he knew she knows what she is talking about. I have no issue with her continuing to speak, she has lot to say..no gaffe's, she was spot on about everything..my stupid tv went off during the iran stuff so I have to watch it again but she did great
uh..uh..uh..uh.. you're right!
I think you are way off...in fact, I think you are a liberatard posing as a Sarah supporter. Your arguments give you away...they are so classically weak....just like all liberal arguments....so why don't you just try to be honest....show your true political inclinations

uh...uh...uh...uh...
She really can't afford to bad mouth Obama in blatant specific terms...not right now anyway.
By the way, that's BOR's trademark: asking a question he knows no one can correctly answer. No one, not Clinton, McCain, Obama, Bush, etc., has come out of his interviews looking terrific. It's more a test of character and composure rather than showing of policy chops.
I think some people here need to give Sarah a break. So much advice here. She did a good job. She was relaxed and engaged. Short answers and far much better than Obama. She went after Obama. I think some people watching Sarah speak are themselves nervous. Maybe I suggest you watch it a couple of times before you suggest.
That's why presidents have dozens of advisors who are specialists in their field.
I definitely will :)
Hey y'all dont' forget about Sarah on 20/20 tonight!!!!! Whoo hoo more Sarahcuda! I heard Trig is in this portion of the interview.
Sarah did a great job. I bet the liberals are nervous after this interview.
steven,
I think you're totally wrong. ;-)
Sarah doesn't have access to all the info that the President does. Anyone with her status that is asked "what would you do?" would answer probably just as well.
Everybody plays armchair quarterback but until you're actually in that situation, when you don't know all the info it's hard to come up with the "right answers".
I think she did great. She was knowledgeable, and most importantly was confident and passionate in her answers. Did she come up with the "right answers"?...I don't know.
I do know what's most important is the values that she holds...they help her pick those "experts" around her and help her make those tough decisions.
I know those are my core values. They also are Reagan's values that have worked in the past.
I know that they aren't Obama's.....and we all can see hoe THAT'S working out.
To me the most important Question was are ready to be President. With out hestitiation Sarah said YES. I wasn't to keen on how BOR phrased the question but the answer was unquivical. Lets all remember at this point and time what is important is to have a basic understanding of all the policy issues and our Lady Liberty has it. At one point Sarah caught her self because she was just about to unload on Obama. One last thing Sarah was very careful to stated millitary action against Iran is a last resort idea. Sarah understand what is at play and thats all we can ask for.
This is a tougher interview because O'Reilly's interviewing technique is a little offbeat. In football terms he reminds me of a team that always blitzes a QB from an unexpected direction. The QB is always on edge.
It is a lot more difficult interview for Sarah, especially the questions about Obama's character, honesty, and sincerity. Sarah had to be very careful. Plus O'Reilly kept peppering her with Obama questions. Sarah was great 'thinking on her feet'.
I loved the way she implied Obama was a liar without saying he was (regarding Rev Wright).
I love the answer that she believes that she is qualified for the presidency. If she wasn't running in 2012 why would she have been so assertive on the question.
Did you hear Marthar Stewart? Is that liberal whinning?
whining
^^^^Plus Sarah's not one to "dance around questions". I thought BOR questions need to be asked of a SITTING PRESIDENT instead of a "maybe potential one". Asked to someone who was privy to much more info.
Those questions really had no answer. If ANYONE knew the answer to some of those questions, we'd be living in Shangrela (sp). :-)
You must be new around here because you wouldn't say that if you didn't just arrive yesterday.
I just find it very frustrating that Sarah cannot put it into words the real reasons why she left office. And, I am not a fan of her speaking style, from a linguistics/aural point of view. I never have been and never will be. And, if you didn't just arrive on the bus yesterday you would know that I've never hid that in some of my posts. She is a much better writer than she is a speaker, IMO, and I doubt I will ever change my mind about that. Doesn't mean that I am not a supporter.
Techno,
It's difficult to answer questions that have no answer!
Over the years, I have yet to see a major U.S. leader come out of a BOR interview with an "A." "C's" and "Ds" are commonplace. If Palin came through with anything higher than that, she's fine.
The point is that Sarkozy and Brown, have been very cross with Obama, after the stolen election, and specially after the UN debacle, and yet he seems to have ruled out sanctions, a remarkably shortsided action. She seemed more confident in today's
segment rather than yesterday
I'll watch it again later tonight.
I do get nervous when Sarah speaks because I just want her to slow...down...and...pause...between...thoughts...
Then again, she has no times for Uhms and Uhs like the TOTUS spouts every other word.
^^^^^You could be right. looking at the interview in that perspective, I think Sarah did very well. She showed she had MORE than just basic knowledge of the subjects.
More important she showed she had condfidence and passion for the issues.
I will always trust Sarah's values. They will help her pick her "experts" and help her come up with a decision in any situation.
In the end, when you've done what you truely think is right....there is nothing more you can do.
No kidding, life would be full of rainbows, chocolate rivers, and lollipop fields.
Had BOR asked me those questions, I would have said "I have no damn idea, and I know you really don't either, which is why you're asking me this."
I loved it that she was NOT smiling when she gave her answers.
This gal has backbone and a steely resolve.
This woman is willing to take Obama and did more in that regard in this interview than all the GOP members of Congress have done since the beginning of the year.
^^^Dan,
You're sooo right.
NO ONE has a solution to Iran.
Good Golly, they've been fighting over there for hundreds of years. Sarah isn't going to solve anything overthere in 6 minute interview!
Did she tape the BoR interviews the same day as the Hannity interview?
I saw on Fox & Friends this morning that Gretchen will be interviewing her next week down in FL (assuming it's the Villages stop). I've always gotten the impression that Gretchen is lukewarm towards Sarah so that one should be interesting.
gardunne,
For some reason, BOR interview seesions are only like 12 minutes long ...lol
She has to speak fast..lots to get in in such a short amt of time.
^^^^Just like she answered the VP question....without batting an eye!
That's my gal!! woot woot!
I had hoped when he pushed her on Russia and Iran, and when she was talking about working with our allies, that she had said "reinstate the ground-based missile defense systems in Poland and Czechoslovakia so that Russia knows we are strong and we mean business. Reagan's "peace through strength" philosophy.
It worked for the Soviet Union and many of those leaders are still in power in Russia.
And then she could have said "and while he's restoring missile defense he could change course and grant the requests for funding for AK's missile defense program that I requested this year, to give us strength and intimidation to North Korea. Don't forget about Kim Jon Il, Bill."
Hee hee. It's so easy to do this from my sofa.
Kim Jong Il
The question had to be asked. I actually thought O'Reilly did her a favor by bringing up her IQ so that when she gave a strong retort it proved that she does indeed possess the IQ to be POTUS.
All I can say is I would feel a lot more comfortable and secure if she were in the office of president right now.
Sarah was much slower with O'Reilly than she was with Sean. I made the point on another thread that when she encounters an interviewer who she is not buddy-buddy with she becomes more guarded and talks slower. Watch the Bawa interview again and you'll see Sarah does have the ability to carry it off. She was a little faster with O'Reilly but not by very much.
Again I liked it when she DID NOT smile when giving her answers. Her problem is not personality but a perception she does not possess gravitas. I thought she cane over well.
It is much easier to do it from the recliner, but when he asked most of those questions, I know I was stumped. I had no Vulcan mind meld thoughts or tips that would have been worthy.
If truth be known most apolitical Americans don't know what the hell Sarah is talking about when she talks about Iran, Agfhanistan and China. For them the main thing for these is to sound like you know what you are talking about. Sarah did a good job of doing that tonight. She has roughtly two years to get even better in her delivery.
^^^^Ditto, Ditto, Ditto...lol
She showed more knowledge of those subjects then probably people that don't really follow her thought she had.
I thought she came over REALLY well. Those were VERY difficult questions that none knows the answers to.
^^^GOT THAT RIGHT!!
At least Sarah wouldn't need months to decide to whether to give McChrystal what he needs or not. geeezzz.
Watch the Sean Hannity interview. She talks a lot faster with him. She actually talked a lot slower with Bill and engaged him in the dialogue. It was a magnificent tete-a-tete. O'Reilly kept hammering Sarah on Obama and Sarah to her credit did not take the opportunity to totally go nuclear on him. I think Sarah understands the 'rules of engagement' very well regarding criticizing the POTUS. She has definitely done her homework. Can we say 'boning up'?
Plus Techno, I think that people realize that what Obama is doing/not doing isn't working.
All Sarah really needed to do is point that out and try to suggest the opposite.
