Really Late Night Open Thread

I thought you guys could use a little late-night breather.

-Matthew Continetti from the Weekly Standard notes that "[w]e'll have to wait until Tuesday to see the actual contents of the book. But, by the AP's own biased reporting, it seems that it will be filled with policy indeed."

-Palin's Book Tour Builds on Effective Web Strategy is the title to the feature/headline article for tomorrow's Wall Street Journal.

-Governor Palin will reportedly "be a keynote speaker at the Sierra-Cascade Logging Conference in Redding on Feb. 8" and will reportedly stop in Redding during her book tour.

-The Oklahoma media is reporting that Governor Palin will also visit Hastings as part of her book tour. What the Oklahoma media is not reporting is that it was beaten to the story by C4P contributor Creede Kurtz.

-Thanks to Jake Tapper for highlighting Governor Palin's most recent Facebook post about 9/11 Defendants.

-According to Rasmussen, Michelle Bachmann is more popular in terms of net approval than either Barack Obama or Tim Pawlenty in the state of Minnesota (not just in her Congressional district). Keep in mind that even Reagan couldn't win Minnesota against either Carter or Mondale.

So Cruela and Lakersfan, who's going to win tonight's feature NBA game? It's a bad sign for the Nuggets if they cannot beat the Lake Show (sans Gasol) on the second end of a back to back.

Update: The Nuggets appear to have this one.

Anyway, ABC has put up the Barbara Walters/Sarah Palin promotion video:

And you can check out some pictures from both the Babara Walters and Oprah Winfrey interviews here.

RE:  Policy. Rush confirmed that there was policy in her book, but he also predicted that the media won't report it and instead, will focus on her personal affairs.

CruelaDev,  November 13, 2009 10:32 PM

Nuggets of Course!  Lakers SUCK!  Better hush now or I may lose another Bet to Eddie Burke...

JeanA,  November 13, 2009 10:35 PM

Greta still does't know why Gov. Palin resigned.

ChillinInMN,  November 13, 2009 10:36 PM

It's just plain embarrassing being from this state sometimes.

<p><span><span><span>I posted on this on the </span>“You Know You Are Over the Target When You Are Taking Flak” thread, but I wanted to post it again to see what you guys think.<span>  </span><span><span> </span></span></span></span>
</p><p><span><span> </span></span>
</p><p><span><span><span>Aitch748</span> made a good point earlier about some of the bloggers getting into the act, and he highlighted Hot Air in particular.<span>  </span>Over the last two days, Sarah has released three substantives Facebook notes on three different subjects (health care, economy / jobs, and KSM being tried in a NY civilian court).<span>  </span>I personally have emailed these Facebook notes to Allah and Ed.<span>  </span>And I have seen where Hot Air readers have left comments and links to her recent Facebook notes in the comment sections of other Hot Air articles.<span>  </span>So I have got to believe that Allah and Ed know they exist.<span>  </span>And do you know how many of these substantive Facebook notes Hot Air has linked to or discussed?<span>  </span>Zip, Zero, Nada!<span>  </span>Instead, all of the Hot Air posts related to Sarah have been either Levi stories or articles trashing Sarah’s book. yogi41,  November 13, 2009 10:39 PM

IF the Nuggets happen to pull out a win tonight, it's only because the Lakers played last night... and kicked the crap out of Phoenix. :)

PatrickinOH,  November 13, 2009 10:40 PM

I get your point, for some reason I briefly flipped to CNN and Ben Stein who I usually like, said that Palin could be a columnist or a talk show host but never president I couldn't beleive it

MarkRNY,  November 13, 2009 10:41 PM

Knicks Rule! (lol) Even I can't keep a straight face there.

Yup, Rush said it was one of the most substantive books he's read. AP's review was pre-written. Thing is, I'm sure Sarah expected this, so I'm not as upset as I thought I'd be. I'd still like to make them pay with terrible interest though...

Krauthammer probably went with the review because it fits his preconceptions. This shows that his dislike of Sarah isn't based on judgementreason. He's an elitist.

gardunne63,  November 13, 2009 10:42 PM

Greta is one of FNC's weakest links, IMO.  Her constant self-deprecating ' help me out here, I'm not all that smart..."  style of interviewing gets really old really fast (the nebbish Neil Cavuto rubs me the same wrong way too).   Least she's no longer dedicating three nights a week to slingnasty family members of missing girls.    I pray that Sarah ignores Greta on this tour...

panchita,  November 13, 2009 10:43 PM

Its absolutely intentional. Allah's an atheist, the complete antithesis of Sarah. Matter meet anti-matter.

in addition he's a new york city republican a breed well known to me.

They absolutely despise her. They love the hits however.

Ace of Spades is more Sarah friendly.

CruelaDev,  November 13, 2009 10:46 PM

Breath deep Lakers.. Breath Deep!

A,  November 13, 2009 10:46 PM

"<span>even Reagan couldn't win Minnesota against either Carter or Mondale."</span>

People forget that Humphrey and Mondale were from Minnesota. In many elections, MN voted for the local guy. Those were two of the elections.

PatrickinOH,  November 13, 2009 10:51 PM

I'm thinking that Sarah could pull off what Reagan couldn't do and win Minnesota assuming she runs of course

gardunne63,  November 13, 2009 10:55 PM

Love that 'Cuda.  She's going to make even more EnviroNazi heads explode when she speaks at the Logging conference in WA state.

narciso,  November 13, 2009 10:56 PM

Ben Stein is really having a 'Buehler, Buehler' moment there, one recalls how vicious he was against the first President Bush, and the sharp turn he took against the Iraq war, when times were tough. Greta I don't really understand since she was the one who seemed to best understand her
both during and in the aftermath of the campaign. Whereas she gives too much attention to Newt
and Pawlenty lately

gardunne63,  November 13, 2009 10:59 PM

Stop emailing them to HotAir and email them to the Drudge Report instead.   A gazillion more web traffic there than at HotAir.     Drudge used to post her Facebook postings but has not lately so he needs to be reminded as to how much he loves Sarah. :o)

jimr3,  November 13, 2009 11:02 PM

I do gardunne63, but no luck with Drudge as of late.

MarkRNY,  November 13, 2009 11:08 PM

I think that NY Repubs associate Sarah with nature/wildlife, etc. and it makes them nervous. They've got the pulse of Columbus Circle down though! The Elaine's crowd too.

Jack White,  November 13, 2009 11:11 PM

Knicks rule LOL..I can't even say that with a straight face. Well just know that even the Clippers are worse then they are. Now as far as the Lakers go, if they win, AWESOME, if they lose(Thanks to Reggie Miller jinxing them and saying they would lose) it will be because they are tired, yes I can use that as an excuse!! I LOVE Michele Bachamnn,, she is my second favorite Conservative woman(you all know who my #1 fav is) a Palin/Bachmann ticket, can you imagine the media..oh man, diapers for everyone in the media, there will be poo everywhere

PEC,  November 13, 2009 11:12 PM

Disagree.  Greta is good.  She lets the person being interviewed be the star.  She really likes Sarah.  I think the resignation just caught her by surprise.  I would love Greta to do a couple of shows on the road with Sarah.  Greta and her husband really connected to Todd and the entire Palin family.

yogi41,  November 13, 2009 11:15 PM

It's surprising how poorly New Orleans is playing this year - AGAIN. They won't be in the playoffs, or will the Clippers (even though Phil Jackson said they would).

My playoff teams in the West, in no particular order:

Lakers
Phoenix
Portland
Dallas
San Antonio
Houston
Denver
Utah

Oh, and Lakers will win tonight. Yes, they're tired, but Denver always fizzles out in the 4th quarter.

Anne,  November 13, 2009 11:15 PM

Hey, have y'all seen these pictures of the Gov. and Oprah?? There are also some on the page of she and Barbara Walters (taken today!!)

Check it out.

yogi41,  November 13, 2009 11:16 PM

I meant "nor" will the Clippers, not "or".

Whitney,  November 13, 2009 11:17 PM

I feel your pain. I'm from Illinois. Look at who we have elected as Senators and Governors in recent years.

PEC,  November 13, 2009 11:18 PM

2 Points.
1. Minnesota is winnable.  Monadale was from Minn.  otherwise he would have loss by 5+% easy.  It is the Home State thing.  Same with Mondale as VP under Carter.

2.  I know the MSM will not bring it up but we need to get to Tammy or somebody that Levi is full of sh^$.  HE said he had stuff on Sarah if she did anything, but after he said that Sarah called him a liar and he was nothing but in it for money just like posing for Playgirl.  Well LEvi Punk where was the bad dirt?  ANswer he still has to make it up because it doesn't exist.  THe book was written before Levi started this.  THe media needs to do its job and call the twerp out.

Jack White,  November 13, 2009 11:19 PM

Is it just me, or does it look like Oprah is squezzing them a bit too tight?

JeanA,  November 13, 2009 11:20 PM

What is this all about Coale and early strategy?

"She resigned as governor, still has all this power...and her book before it's even published is a best seller," said John Coale, a Washington lawyer who helped Ms. Palin devise her early strategy."

May be Greta ia playing dumb.

yogi41,  November 13, 2009 11:23 PM

Oooops, looks like Sarah and Babs didn't coordinate with each other about their outfits. Both are wearing the same color top.

Indemind,  November 13, 2009 11:24 PM

( Don't forget Dr.Zero)  I too Posted this on "Who is dumb"? Thread,

<span>It's Amazing. It's as if someone sent money vouchers to all these pundits and said to cash in your voucher, you must go after Sarah. So the same pundits who were nice just last week, are all on the pad this week.  And </span><span>The Beat Goes ON......dudodudodu </span>
<span>Hang'em High

sarah 2012</span>

MarkRNY,  November 13, 2009 11:24 PM

I wrote to Michele Bachmann and told her that she's my congresswoman whether she likes it or not. Then I told her about a street light that's always getting stuck on Red on Rt. 59 after midnight. I expect a little action there.

Michele's a lion. Love the way she spoke in military terms about "Taking the Hill" and "Needing reinforcements" (lol). Now that's a fighter!

As to the Knicks, whenever I think of them I try to remember---The Yankees!

Anne,  November 13, 2009 11:24 PM

I love the blue color jacket she's wearing in the Barbara Walters pics.  I like the Oprah picture - at least she's showing SOME affection towards the woman who's about to give her a RATINGS BOOM, lol ;)

LadySam,  November 13, 2009 11:25 PM

OT:
I saw pictures on TeamSarah of her and Barbara.  Sarah looks tense, not relaxed like the Oprah clips.  Has anyone heard how these interviews went?

Mia,  November 13, 2009 11:26 PM

Anne...Thanks for the pictures...

Lakerfanalways,  November 13, 2009 11:27 PM

Sarah looks happy and awwwwwwwwwwwwww Piper is just the cutest litlte thing. Im seeing politics in Piper's future

Anne,  November 13, 2009 11:29 PM

Yeah, I agree.  I think she looks a bit more "staged" with Babs.  But, who can blame her - Babawawa isn't the easiest crowd I'm sure.

I'm sure Sarah did just fine.  I can't wait to see her with these nitwits now that the chains are off.  I even wish *in some sick twisted way* she could have a second chance with Katie Couric and Gibson - just to sick it to them.

yogi41,  November 13, 2009 11:31 PM

Babs twittered this:

<span><span>"Just did a wonderful interview with Sarah Palin. Answered her critics. Airs Tuesday on GMA. Watch. OK?"</span></span>

She also twittered that she bought a new hat because she's going to the theater. I dont' know why, but I found that to be funny.

Whitney,  November 13, 2009 11:32 PM

That is funny! Just the fact that Babara is on twitter is hillarious. I need to start following her, just for the laughs.

Peggy Noonan is on twitter too, and it's funny, not intentionally though.

Lakerfanalways,  November 13, 2009 11:33 PM

Your right..she does look more relaxed with Opran then with Barbara, but you know what, I think the interview went great. I mean look at what Oprah said after the interview, she looked all depressed and stuff, but then you see these photos and you think WOW, they look like buddies. You can't go by a picture, because it really doesnt mean anything

jimr3,  November 13, 2009 11:35 PM

<p><span><span>Well Greta can’t come to grip with Sarah’s resignation. <span> </span>Even though Greta has spent time with Sarah, she doesn’t fully understand that Sarah simply despises the thought of wasting taxpayer dollars and time.<span>  </span><span> </span>Nor do I believe that Greta fully appreciates the fact that if Sarah would have remained in office she would have undoubtedly gone bankrupt. She thinks Sarah should have remained in office and fought the bogus ethics complaints, and changed the ethics law -- even though the next legislative session was many months away.<span>  </span>And in the meantime, a whole slew of other bogus complaints would have been filed costing her and taxpayers many thousands of dollars and wasted time.<span>  </span>But the biggest thing that Greta does not get is the fact that there is one person in this world who is willing to give up power for the betterment of her constituents, and that person is Sarah.<span>  </span>But to be fair to Greta, she is not alone in her assessment.<span>  </span>My brother is someone who believes like Greta.<span>  </span>And he and I have gone round and round on this issue. <span> </span>He is just now starting to slowly come back around.<span>  </span><span> </span>This is going to be a challenge for Sarah.<span>  </span>Explaining this in a short sound bite that makes sense and changes the perception that she is not a “quitter” will be a challenging task indeed. <span> </span>All of us here at C4P get it, because we all have been following Sarah’s story from the very beginning from when she first entered the national stage.<span>  </span>But for others who only tune in randomly, it is difficult for some people to fully understand…like Greta. <span> </span></span></span></p>

Lakerfanalways,  November 13, 2009 11:35 PM

Peggy Noonan is just a twit LOL. Hey if I see the Barbara Walters interview and it went really great, I might change my perception of Babs. Until then, I will reserve judgment.

CruelaDev,  November 13, 2009 11:35 PM

My Goodness...Oprah...I can see the wrinkles in Willow's arm from your death grip! That's gonna leave a mark.  Sarah probably has bruised ribs!

Anne,  November 13, 2009 11:36 PM

Y'all I'm so frustrated.  I have had to defend Sarah at least 3 times this week ,and I have a feeling it's gonna get more intense over the coming weeks.  Why do people base their knowledge of her on the Couric interviews?  It's so frustrating, and I'm so sick of it!!!  Ugh, sorry I had to vent.

Wildmanbill,  November 13, 2009 11:37 PM

I just ordered "persecution" and when checking out, amazon lowered my order of Sarah's book from 4 to 3. something about the max # to be ordered can only be 3. Anyone else experience this?

yogi41,  November 13, 2009 11:40 PM

Now you know why Rush throws down his dinner napkins in disgust. He, too, is tired of defending Palin to his friends who get all of their perceptions of her from the media.

PEC,  November 13, 2009 11:40 PM

Where is Todd and Trig?  THis is starting to concern me a little.  Sarah never goes anywhere without Todd.  Of course Trig could be sick.  Who knows.

Nancy,  November 13, 2009 11:40 PM

Anderson Cooper: Sarah Palin is writing on Facebook, or someone is writing for her, and she has a ghostwriter for this book.

PatrickinOH,  November 13, 2009 11:40 PM

I think Willow is starting to look more and more like her mother

Whitney,  November 13, 2009 11:42 PM

I hear ya, Anne! It's frustrating. People are intellectually lazy. They don't want to put too much effort in seeking out the truth. It doesn't help that the AP and MSM is completely biased, so people are generally overly exposed to misrepresentations and lies.

I don't mean this to toot my own horn, but I made a point to watch Obama's DNC speech, read his stances on his website, and read his book the Audacity of Hope prior to the election to make sure that I was looking at both sides. If more people did that, we would have more people who would be driven to principles of politics and hype.

PEC,  November 13, 2009 11:43 PM

Appears that Willow has a foot off the ground.

Whitney,  November 13, 2009 11:44 PM

<span>I hear ya, Anne! It's frustrating. People are intellectually lazy. They don't want to put too much effort in seeking out the truth. It doesn't help that the AP and MSM is completely biased, so people are generally overly exposed to misrepresentations and lies.

Fingers crossed

Whitney,  November 13, 2009 11:45 PM

I think I read somewhere that Trig has a cold.

Tommy Report,  November 13, 2009 11:45 PM

Trig is sick.  It was reported in the NY Daily News.

narciso,  November 13, 2009 11:46 PM

And Anderson Vanderbilt wonders how they get such high ratings, (sarc) this is someone who used to be on the Mole with Kathy Griffith, not that long ago

Lakerfanalways,  November 13, 2009 11:46 PM

Willow definately looks like her mother. Piper I think looks more like Todd, of course she is still very young. Willow looks to me like a young Sarah, the way Sarah looked when she was 14

Anne,  November 13, 2009 11:47 PM

Yep, it looks like the same jacket.  Our Sarah may be a millionaire now, but she knows what she likes!  Ha, she probably has it in red too :)  She has on some really cool shoes in the Barbara Walters pic.

PEC,  November 13, 2009 11:47 PM

Coale helped set up SarahPac from a legal viewpoint.  John and Greta really like the Palins.  I think John connected with Todd on a personal level.  Folks, Greta to this day would have first refusal as Spokesperson for campaign.  She knows how the MSM works and knows the little games they play.

PatrickinOH,  November 13, 2009 11:48 PM

can you link it?

PEC,  November 13, 2009 11:48 PM

Save that for if she campaigns.

Tommy Report,  November 13, 2009 11:49 PM

Won't part of the Barbara Walters interview air before the interview with Oprah since it will be aired on GMA?

yogi41,  November 13, 2009 11:49 PM

I think you're onto something there. The jackets look identical, as does the top she is wearing underneath it. Good ol' frugal Sarah. :)

LadySam,  November 13, 2009 11:50 PM

I think the jackets are similar but the one on Oprah had slanted pocket plackets (I think).

Whitney,  November 13, 2009 11:51 PM

Anderson Cooper doesn't understand a lot, like the Governor or basketball.
Watch this:

yogi41,  November 13, 2009 11:54 PM

Not 'til Tuesday morning. Oprah is Monday.

Whitney,  November 13, 2009 11:55 PM

Me too, Mia!

JeanA,  November 13, 2009 11:55 PM

I think John connected with Sarah more than Todd.

Brian72,  November 13, 2009 11:56 PM

Anderson Cooper doesn't have as many viewers in primetime as Sarah has Facebook supporters, so screw that little girly man. He looks like he would be a cute couple with Gov. Crist and some orange tan spray.

PatrickinOH,  November 13, 2009 11:56 PM

OT did any of you see Glenn Beck today?  It was dedicated to black conservatives, it was the most amazing glenn beck show so far

Anne,  November 13, 2009 11:57 PM

Yeah, you're right Whitney - thanks for the words of encouragement.  I just keep saying to them: there are so many folks who want to define Sarah Palin...now, let Sarah Palin have a chance to define Sarah Palin.  Let her have a chance to speak, no holds barred.  She's smart damnit - she was the Governor of Alaska.  Jeeeez folks.

Ok, enough venting for tonight!  You can tell I'm wound up haha :)

GAHanson,  November 13, 2009 11:58 PM

There's a guy on Free Republic who says he got a copy of Going Rogue from his local grocery store today.  He says he's on page 70, and it's real good.  It looks like some stores are releasing it early.

Anne,  November 13, 2009 11:58 PM

Yes, Adrienne Ross from C4P was one of the audience members!! :)

If it is real, then the store broke the law because the book is NOT supposed to be releaed to ANY store until Tuesday. It's like a video game, you can't be posting games before their release date, same for books. If this is legit he is extremely lucky. I cautioned him to be aware that this book might be BS

Hey everyboody check out the link to the WSJ. on te left sidebar is a link called Sarah's book overview. Their are several articals that have summarys from the book. The main section is called Washington Wire. Really good read.

PatrickinOH,  November 14, 2009 12:15 AM

I live in Dayton, Ohio and I was there when Sarah was introduced to the nation, I was really back in the nosebleed section though, luckily my brother brought his binoculars

Lakerfanalways,  November 14, 2009 12:15 AM

Ok looks like we are gonna lose. The refs are giving all the calls to Denver, what else is knew..Oh well, I will take 7-2 plus we played last night

I doubt it's the fake book, Going Rouge. The guy is on Free Republic; he's not going to read up to page 72 of the fake book and report that it's really good. Most likely, the store (and many others) are selling it early.

A logging convention?  Interesting choice.  Maybe she felt since Michael Palin of Monty Python wrote and performed The Lumberjack Song, the most famous ode to loggers in history, they'd like another Palin to address them.  But between the bowling convention and the logging convention it's certainly some out of the box groups to be speaking to.  I figured the bowling thing was because it would be a chance to make fun of Obama for his wretched bowling display.  But I can't figure out his connection to logging.

On another note, she's up to #38 for the year on BN.com, through 11/9.  As of 11/2 she was at #53.  And as of 10/19 she was at #86.  Around a 15 spot jump per week.  This list includes all books.  Hardcover, paperback, kids, advice, etc...  A pretty rapid rise.  And she's currently at #1 at BN.com so when the yearly rankings are updated through 11/16 she'll probably be in the 20s somewhere.  Probably near the top 10 or higher by the end of the month.

To be at #25 or so before the book is even released is pretty good.  It's been less than 7 weeks since it even was listed and most of the books on the list have been listed for much longer or even the whole year.

She's been at or around #1 at Amazon, BN, Borders, WalMart, and any other major online seller for 7 weeks.  And that's with top authors like Dan Brown, Grisham, King, Albom, Chrichton, Beck, Gladwell, Osteen, and others all having books out dyring the same time.  When you look at the recent NF bestsellers like Have A Little Faith, True Compass, Arguing With Idiots, Superfreakonomics, etc... she's consistently been higher than them ever since the date was announced.  Assuming that onlnie rankings are reasonably reflective of instore sales, and they should be, things look good for a successful run.

techno,  November 14, 2009 12:28 AM

Since the unveiling of Going Rogue has brought on renewed attacks on Sarah Palin I think it is time to review the 32 strategies that I believe Obama and his allies are using against Sarah Palin which I called 'boxing the compass'.

1) The use of anklebiters and left-wing bloggers in their attempt to rattle her and then unnerve her

NB: their efforts were highly influential in SP deciding to resign, weren't they?

2) To frustrate and exasperate her intentions and agenda (Alaska) to undermine her at every opportunity

NB: Sarah's agenda was not cause the state of Alaska from incurring millions of dollars in expenses to combat ethics violations levelled against her

3) To bait Sarah into an unforced error by making her angry

NB: So far it hasn't happened.

4) To frighten or terrorize Sarah

NB: so far not working

5) To pigeonhole or classify her politically speaking (a 'fire and brimstone' pro-life intolerant bogeyman extremist rather than a libertarian in the mainstream)

6) To mischarcterize her personality, intelligence, capabilities, talents etc so as to brand her eternally unqualified to be POTUS

NB: the beat goes on

7) If #6 doesn't work at least to relegate Sarah to a category of a second stringer or that the jury is still out on

8) Marginalizing Sarah by diminishing her credibility

NB: making a case Sarah has no chance to be the GOP standardbearer in 2012 or beating Obama

9) along with #8 employ statistics, polls, graphs, political history to demonstrate why Sarah is 'unelectable'

10) by demonizing Sarah to make her appear evil or to have evil intentions

(continued)

I would not be surprised at all that RAM would be working for Sarah. She's a good writer and expresses ideas very clearly. And if she's working for her, its good to know that Sarah has good people around her.

Anne,  November 14, 2009 12:40 AM

What's the name of the aid that stuck by Palin after the campaign, that's still advising her presently?? Is it Jason Recher? If so, he and RAM are friends on FB, if that means anything.....

Anonymous,  November 14, 2009 12:42 AM

I'd agree with most of those, but I think it's a bit overblown.

No strategies will matter in 2012.  Either the country will be ok with Obama and keep him, or they will have soured on him and he'll be gone.  If you look at incumbent Presidents, when they lose it's generally not that close.  The country has had it with them and whoever the opponent is wins.  Hoover in 1932 got 40% and 6 states.  Carter in 80 got 41% and 6 states,  Bush in 92 got 37% and 19 states.  All 3 incumbent defeats also coincided with recessions, high unemployment and a bad economy.

If the economy is struggling in 2012, Obama will lose.  He got 52.7% in the most favorable atmosphere possible.  With a bad economy and other dissatisfaction he'll do no better than Kerry did.

Basically, elections involving incumbents are referendums on them and really have nothing to do with the challenger.  No incumbent has ever won with approval ratings below 50%.  Or lost when they're above 50%.

If Obama is below 50, he'll lose and it won't matter who the opponent is.

Dan C,  November 14, 2009 12:45 AM

Also, you can  find policy in the personal. For example, if you talk personally about liberty and freedom, obviously that translates into smaller less obtrusive government. There are a million examples.

techno,  November 14, 2009 12:45 AM

11) Assassinate her character and crucify her by questioning every decision she has made and calling into question her judgment and motives, being very petty and malicious while doing so

NB: Today Chris Matthews accused SP of being a back-stabber and said she was falsely blaming others as Germany blamed others for the start of WWI

12) Draining the swamp; an attempt to deprive Palin of human support, resources and sympathizers

13) erect a 'straw man' that can be easily refuted and make Sarah appear misguided

NB: 'hang em high' could be made into a straw man that Palin favors lynching

14) Exploit the inconsistency and expose the hypocrisy

NB: opposition research but up to now not producing very much

15) Cite the establishment of a legal defense fund as proof of wrongdoing by Sarah

NB: not used recently but could be resurrected

16) Attribute McCain's words to her or cite her positions in the 2008 campaign that run counter to 'Reagan conservative' philosophy

NB: will be harder to claim that Sarah is not a Reagan conservative especially after her interview with Rush Limbaugh

17) Consistently repeating moments on TV or radio which were less than flattering to Sarah

NB: the turkey episode, Couric interview

18) along with #17 to consistently mock and caricature Sarah amongst late-night comedians and SNL

19) to discredit Sarah through the choice of who is advising her

NB: linking her to Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh

20) to honeycomb Sarah's organization with spies or fifth columnists to undermine its efficiency or effectiveness

NB: not done so far to my knowledge

21) To accuse Sarah from being out of step with the 'new world order'

NB: to marginalize Sarah from Republican elitists

22) To build up Sarah's potential Presidential opponents to the detriment of Sarah

NB: Huckabee can do nothing wrong; while attacking Fox News Obama would not even take a poke at Huckabee who is touted as the GOP frontrunner now

Anne,  November 14, 2009 12:46 AM

Lol, I'm kinda jealous of Sarah getting to see that handy-work up close and personal haha

My guess is Greta and her husband John Coale keep their professional business somewhat seperate from each other. Coale has worked with many people, mostly democrats and I bet he doesnt talk to Greta about every detail. There could even be some attornety client privledge issues. But of course, as husband and wife they talk, so it is a balance.

Look at Sarah's parents, both in their 70s and still look like they cuold pass for 50..that is where Sarah got her good genes from. I would guess YES because he is a big libertarian, especially on economic and private property rights.  Luv the guy.  Many years ago I saw Walter Williams as a guest on Lou Roukeyer's "Wall Street Week".  In reply to a question from Lou on what Congress could do to help the economy, Walter said 'give each Congressman a million bucks each to get out of town'.

23) The use of tabloid rumors about Sarah, Todd or her family

NB: ongoing and can spring up at any moment

24) The use and distortion fo the English language to depict Sarah in the worst possible light or to cause her to retract what she has said

NB: so far not successful

25) Disinformation and propaganda aided, abetted and orchestrated by the MSM

26) The insinuation that Sarah cannot do  the job as POTUD and take care of little children at the same time

27) Consistently convince GOP partisans, turncoats or fifth columnists to sell Sarah out in TV, radio or print interviews and why Sarah should not represent the GOP in 2012

NB: Might Dick Armey now fall into this category

28) Have academics and media pundits continually slam Sarah for supposed political miscalculations or being a lightweight

29) Deny Sarah the recognition or credibility that she deserves or is entitled to

NB: After Red China entered the UN in 1971 most of the world acts like Taiwan does not exist. Obama constantly employs this tactic by never mentioning her name. Just because you act like it is so doesn't mean that it is.

30) Accuse Sarah's supporters of being aligned to white, racist militia groups or being right-wing extremists

NB: accusing the tea partiers of being Nazis

31) Accuse or imply that Sarah wants to impose a Christian theocracy on America and throw women and their doctors who perform abortions into jail

NB: traditional tactics used against all pro-life Republicans

32) Saturation bombing

NB: taking no prisoners, no concern about collateral damage, pre-emptive strikes or sneak attacks, unrelenting pressure, insidious strategies, administering the knockout punch while the opponent has both hands tied behind her back
