Rocketman: The Renaissance of Sarah Palin

"Rocketman" at POWIP.com has written an interesting article about Governor Palin's recent re-emergence on the national scene. Here are a few excerpts:

Sarah Palin sure seems to be gathering steam lately, and there’s strong evidence that the public is giving her a second look; perhaps the realization of Mr. Obama’s shortcomings is accentuating her positives more than any negatives that the lamestream media tries to keep the public’s attention focused on. Efforts that have achieved a whole new level of transparent desperation lately, with MSNBC reporters attending Palin book signing events armed with talking points to challenge her many fans, and Chris “Tingle” Matthews obsessing about the “monochromatic” nature of ‘Cuda’s fans. I guess Chris “Tingle” needed to find a new angle, since lately the race card is looking a bit dog-eared from overplaying it; attempting to use it against anyone opposing the President’s political agenda.

[...]

The far left Democrats fear that, just as with Reagan, Sarah Palin’s cheery optimism, can-do attitude, and dedication to the traditional American ideals of national exceptionalism and individualism will resonate in a way that the elitist notions of our “betters” deciding what’s good for us never will; and fear that combined with a charisma that far exceeds the media enabled “cool” of Obama, will make for an unstoppable juggernaut. Indeed, based pretty much solely on her charisma and appeal the public is willing to give her another serious look; a development that drives liberals in the legacy media, as well as a few conservatives, to resort to doing whatever it takes to eliminate her viability as a candidate. This dedication to the destruction of her potential political career is revealed by the maniacal response by some journalists and commentators, such as Ana Marie Cox’s decision to not let a silly detail, you know, like actually reading the entire book get in the way of her panning of it; a suspicion some have about Rod Dreher as well. Or consider that the Associated Press assigned 11 reporters to “fact check” Palin’s book; an astonishing development on it’s face when you realize that to this day they have assigned none to fact check either of Obama’s books-either now or when he was an unknown, un-vetted, candidate who essentially came out of nowhere. As if this doesn’t reveal sufficient and unfair bias on it’s face, as Mark Steyn wryly observes, all this squad of muckrakers uncovered were 6 minor, inconsequential errors, and between them produced a 695 word story.

[...]

All of their efforts might just aid in Sarah Palin’s resurgence and might just propel her solidly into history too; not the dustbin though, but the annals instead, as perhaps the first woman to be elected President of the United States.

Read the whole thing here.

Lets get calling our senators!!! Mine are so far liberal it is useless, but it is believed that Blanche Lincoln is on the fence.

Check-out $arah's $candals at palin's gates and Bree Palin.

PEC, November 20, 2009 1:29 PM

Lieberman, Ben Nelson, Mary Landrieu, Blache Lincoln Evan Bayh, Bob Casey (test his Pro-Life stance) and believe it or not Max Baucas and the 2 from North Dakota.

MarkRNY, November 20, 2009 1:30 PM

Mine's Schumer (lol). I'm as disenfranchised as you can get. I have called Lincoln. Nelson already caved as I knew he would. He's a bought and paid for guy. I don't hold out much hope for "Lincoln". Evan Bye's the only one who there might be a shred of hope for because he might realize O's cooked and might want to mount a challenge. Doubt it though.

I'm looking at this as though it's already passed and that we need someone with the guts to dismantle it in 12. Guess who that would be.

Everybody try though!

What we are up against.

The local paper I read here in India printed in bold letters about Sarah supposedly banning cell phones and cameras at her pro-life event which the paper described as "bizarre" while there is absolutely no mention of the thousands of crowds at her recent book rallies or even the news of her book release which should be an important new item to read wouldn't it?

PEC, November 20, 2009 1:36 PM

Call Gilibrand. Saw a poll that she was down big against Giulliani if he chooses to run.

MarkRNY, November 20, 2009 1:37 PM

Sarah Palin-Renaissance Woman! I don't think people are taking a "second" look. I think that they were never done with their 1st look!

Rush's show has been 2/3ds Sarah today. Took on a lib caller with the obligatory lib male androgynous voice (why do leftie guys all sound like that?). Laura was great today too! I knew they'd bond over the jacket raffle. Almost ready to put her in the All In column with Rush, Hannity, Levin and (now) BOR.

There Rush goes again as I type.

MarkRNY, November 20, 2009 1:43 PM

Thanks! I will. I'll pretend I'm my cousin who lives in her
district....maybe I'll curse her out, make a threat and leave his name, address and
social security #. He'll love it.

SHe is a US Senator now. She took Hillary's seat.

Mark R-CA, November 20, 2009 1:49 PM

Agreed. This is already happening. According to the latest PPP poll, Sarah has shored up a lot of females, who were on the fence just a few months ago. This is why the liberals are in full freak-out mode. Her charm does wonders, and she is such an effective spokesperson for conservatism, they will go in overtime to try to discredit her.

This week has reminded me, that there's only one way to beat Obama: Palin 2012.

Ed Morrissey @ Hot Air:

Obama organizing group: Palin book tour “dangerous”
This is actually kind of cute, and completely hypocritical. Organizing for America warns its mailing list of a new danger to America. Is it terrorists getting a global platform in federal court? Political correctness keeping soldiers in danger? Massive deficits being run up by the Democrats to satisfy their statist agenda? Er … not quite:
President Obama’s political operation took a shot at Sarah Palin today, accusing her of lying on her media blitz.
“It’s dangerous,” Organizing for America Director Mitch Stewart said of Palin’s book tour. …
Let’s see if we have this right. The Left accused conservatives opposed to trying Gitmo terrorists in federal court of cowardice, a charge echoed to some degree by Eric Holder in his testy exchange with Senator Jon Kyl. Put aside for the moment the myriad of arguments against Obama’s decision. Even on that basis, we’re now to believe that giving al-Qaeda terrorists a global media platform for propaganda and recruitment isn’t at all dangerous … but a book tour should have people running for cover?
And of course, Stewart is showing just how dangerous this is — by exploiting it for every red cent he can find:
Stewart asks supporters to help raise $500,000 to “push back against Sarah Palin and her allies.”
Well, maybe Palin is dangerous. But dangerous to whom? If Stewart has his crying towel out already, the answer is pretty clear.
Want to be “dangerous” to Stewart? Buy the book, which is still #1 at Amazon:

Its reading stuff like that that makes me fearful for Sarah's life. It takes one whack job to believe that Sarah is "dangerous" and want to hurt her. Thank God she has adequate security around her and I hear she packs heat wherever she goes..This is scary stuff, they consider her dangerous but they think that its fine that Hassan wrote emails to jihadists saying he cant wait to get his 72 virgins in heaven

One of the best articles out there on Sarah Palin. Mathew Continetti really studied Palin.

===

"Sarah Palin has a talent for reinvention. Since her first campaign in 1992, she's gone through a wardrobe full of political personas. Study her career and you count no less than five different identities: Sarah the culture warrior, Sarah the watchdog, Sarah the reformer, Sarah the veep and now, Sarah the celebrity.

Such flexibility has allowed Palin to adapt to changing political circumstances. And in a tumultuous political moment, Palin's pragmatism is an advantage..

As Sarah the celebrity, Palin can reintroduce herself to the American people on her own terms. In the process, she will make a lot of money. Yet celebrity isn't qualification enough for high office. Fame draws eyeballs, but it doesn't get you votes. If Palin wants to run for the presidency, she also needs to be sure that the public knows her principles...
That's where Sarah the free marketer enters the picture. Palin grasps that the Obama administration and Democrats in Congress are attempting to renegotiate the American social contract. She understands that the Democrats want to increase the role that government plays in the economy and our daily lives...

Palin holds the opposite view. In her book, she talks a lot about fiscal responsibility. She recalls Ronald Reagan's approach to economic growth. In her Facebook messages to supporters, she opposes the Democratic healthcare and climate cap-and-trade bills. She favors reducing regulation and increasing competition...
These moves have put Palin on the cutting edge of American politics. She's comfortable as Sarah the free marketer. She's in the middle of the raucous fight over President Obama's sweeping domestic agenda. And to the delight of her fans and the dismay of her enemies, she's not going anywhere."

Who knows where independent Lieberman is on this vote... if this bill gets to the floor health care passes, the only thing left to do then is compromise with the House and it will then only take 50 votes to approve.. a done deal.

Lakerfanalways, November 20, 2009 2:24 PM

Someone twittered on twitter that those people you are seeing going on Sarah's facebook and supposedly being all pissed that they did not get a signed copy of her book..GUESS WHAT..they are paid DNC people..Obana lovers just trying to cause trouble..I knew it, I had that suspicion from the beginning

Kentucky Colonel, November 20, 2009 2:29 PM

In this article by Rocketman, he wrote about the six minor, inconsequential errors the AP found in the book. I think it's debatable whether these were errors or not, just as a previous article here at C4P stated. I looked for the archive of that article, but couldn't find it. It pretty much debunked what the AP said.

hrh, November 20, 2009 2:29 PM

Two new reviews of GR:

Russ from Winterset at Ace of Spades

Susan Olasky of World magazine (Sarah's co-author, Lynn Vincent's, mag. And BTW Lynn has a the cover story on "Homegrown Terror" on the new issue)

Mountain Mama, November 20, 2009 2:29 PM

Only the most naive would immediately believe those "upset people" were really Palinistas.

Isn't it amazing how the left always has to PAY people to vote their way, lobby their way, CHEAT their way!?

Andrew, November 20, 2009 2:34 PM

I saw the supposed video from the Noblesville event... and there was only, at most, 3 peoples shouting and booing. Everyone else was snapping photos like crazy of her tour bus.

CharterOakie, November 20, 2009 2:35 PM

And I got my amazon delivery yesterday, one day early, started reading late last night. Excellent so far.

CharterOakie, November 20, 2009 2:40 PM

BTW, Rocketman's mention of "Chris Tingle" reminds me of a certain song....
Where's Nancy?

Andrew, November 20, 2009 2:47 PM

OT: Here is some news about the supposed 300-600 people that were left waiting at Noblesville---yeah, it wasn't that many.

Palin snubbed about 100 people still waiting in line at 9:00 p.m. with wristbands. Many of whom began chanting, "Sign my book!" as she made her way back onto her tour bus. We were told Palin had a contract with Borders, and had to leave by 9:00 p.m. She did sign several copies as she made her way back on the bus.

Looks like Borders gave out too many wristbands to fit within their time slot.

Kjanlady, November 20, 2009 2:53 PM

Just back from running outside to check what the little brown truck in the driveway had for me. It's here...saw the truck arrive from my bedroom window where I was busy at the keyboard and listening to Mr. Rush. Opening a chilled bottle of zinfadel and settling in for a visit with one of my favorite ladies. See ya'll later.

Anonymous, November 20, 2009 2:55 PM

having been through most of the book now too i agre that there really is not that much score settling with the campaign. if wallace and schmidt had waited to read the book first (as opposed to going by what the AP told them) I think they might not have said so much. i know those of us really like the governor wish there were no questions about levi and couric etc but really the last few days have been much more about positive stuff and the future and she looks so happy

PEC, November 20, 2009 3:20 PM

Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
Caveats: NONE
She is in a tight race possibly with either Pataki or Giulliani. She at some
point will have to make a tough decision.

CowboyVet, November 20, 2009 4:24 PM

I finished reading her book last night , received it on wednesday, but couldn't get to it until yesterday.
It was a good read , easy to follow and kept my interest throughout.

In summation , all I can say is that it just reinforced my high opinion of Sarah.

God bless Sarah,

and all us regular barbarians
