Like many Americans, I’m very concerned about the efforts underway to rush through the 2,000 page Pelosi health care bill this weekend. Why the rush? That’s a lot of pages to read. Why not give everyone the chance to read it and debate it?
How much will this bill cost us? It’s unclear because the figures coming out of Washington keep changing – and always in the direction of costing more, not less. The latest numbers show it will cost more than a trillion dollars over the decade, but when has a government program ever come in on or under budget?
How will we pay for it? Taxes, of course – and not just on the “rich” (you know, the people who spur the economy by buying goods and running companies that employ people), but also on just about everyone, especially small businesses – the job-creating engine of our economy. One of the points of health care reform was to help small businesses with the cost, but this bill hurts them – and right at a time when so many Americans are out of work and need the jobs that small businesses produce.
What’s in this bill? The “death panel” provision is in it. Medicare cuts are in it. Coverage of illegal immigrants is in it. And federal funding for abortion is in it. I commend the many Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats who are taking a principled stance to fight this.
I had a message for Speaker Pelosi in a speech I gave last night for the Wisconsin Right to Life – “please, please don’t break the ‘transparency promise’ by prohibiting at least a vote of your colleagues on funding abortion-on-demand.”
Speaker Pelosi has already broken many promises thus far in this “reform” exercise. She promised that this would be a bi-partisan effort, but the bill she’s pushing isn’t bi-partisan. She promised that the final version of the bill would be posted online 72 hours before it comes to a vote so that the American people could clearly see what’s in it and how we will pay for it. But she broke that promise too when she decided to rush the bill to a vote this weekend.
The speaker must be held accountable for her broken promises. Now is the time for Americans who believe in the free market and who believe that we need policies that promote job growth instead of job loss to say once and for all, “Enough!” Stand up and make your voices heard before it’s too late. Call and email your representatives and tell them to vote “no” on Pelosi’s train wreck of a health care bill, or else we will vote “no” to sending them back to Washington when we go to the polls in less than 12 months.

The time is now for a leader to take point who can galvanizes the opposition in a public manor. I am sorry to say it this way but the FB posts are losing there effectiveness on this debate. I really hope Sarah would come out of the shadows and speak to the Nation like only she can. We can't wait another week until the public see her. As she stated the time is NOW. Using her Facebook platform, Palin reminded her followers what the Pelosi plan means for health care, small business, unemployment, and personal choice (via The Corner):

Critics will howl over the “death panel” reference, but Pelosi still has the Comparative Effectiveness Panel in the bill. The language establishing it takes up 22 pages of the bill (pages 739-760), and it does include experts on “health economics”. It doesn’t explicitly give government the power to dictate treatments — in fact, it does explicitly say that federal officers cannot dictate them — but findings by this panel will be used as baselines for payment by insurers, including the federal government, when it comes to deciding what options for treatment are available to whom. After all, comparative effectiveness is explicitly a rationing process. If it’s in the bill, it means that Pelosi plans on cost savings through rationing, which is really no surprise at all.
Palin also does well by hammering on the unemployment news from yesterday. This bill will not alleviate health-care costs for smaller businesses, the engine of new job growth. In fact, it will create a larger burden through mandates and new taxes, especially for small business owners who file taxes as individuals rather than corporations. They will have to pay excise taxes to fund ObamaCare, and the mandates will make small business owners think twice before expanding their labor force.
Pelosi proved Palin correct today in retreating before the Blue Dogs howling over abortion. Will the Blue Dogs stop howling after the Stupak amendment vote, or will they represent their constituents who oppose a government-run heath-insurance scheme and the infringement of their personal choices?

I think so. I get fundraising letters from Michele all the time and she invokes Sarah regularly in them. By the way, I drove 400 miles (from Duluth to Milwaukee) to see her. I was stunned by how good looking she was--better looking in person than what she looks like on TV (and that is pretty good!). So today when I read the post about how good she looked--I knew it wasn't just me!
The crowd loved her and her speech was very good. She is a brave and courageous woman. The battle that is being fought against her is unbelievable and she is not only still standing--she is still fighting for what is right.
After the speech many from the crowd rushed to her and gathered around as she was signing autographs. I managed to get not only her autograph--but I sheepishly reached out and touch her arm. I wanted a connection with this woman who radiates such truth and honesty.
The Congress persons have their recordings on to leave a message. Some boxes are filled. Very sad day.

I live in shuler's district and got an email from our teaparty organizer today and she feels that shuler will vote yes. That would not suprise me; he voted for cap and tax against the wishe of his constituents. He will have a hard time getting re-elected. INSURANCE the enforcement would come with the local police or the Feds, who the best of my knowlege, have had to raise thier right hand and swear an oath to the Constitution. Most local police are pretty conservative right? If you had MASSIVE CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE IN NOT PURCHASING GOV. INSURANCE, WOULD'NT IT BE THE "CLOVEN AND PIVEN STRADEGY" IN REVERSE? Your thoughts.

100% agree.... and also, 1/2 the states have already put up strong legislation using the 10th amendent to stop any mandates concerning healthcare affecting residents and businesses in their states

We are cooked if this passes. Its time to take action. We need to pick a day, even if it means leaving work and our lives behind wee need to head to Washington and not leave until the will of the people is done.
I'd like to think that some state people will realize that a bloody, lifeless goose ain't gonna be layin' any more eggs, golden or otherwise.

Look. Obama figures that if he gets it out of the House he can water it down enough to pass some version of this Atrocity. Then he believes he can get enough Senators to pass this monster, people like Snowe who've lost their sense of long term financial rectitude.
It really is discouraging. Polls clearly indicated that the majority of Americans do not want this bill--but the politicians will vote for what THEY want, not want the people want.
It is for us to show him otherwise.

Ignore the fact that it comes off the Huckabbe show, but it’s an amazing story, to be honest I kind of got the chills watching it. Huck may have brought up the issue because of the Gov, speech, nevertheless it’s a must see.
I was watching FOX in part of the 7-8pm EST hour with Julie Banderas. At one point she had a Rep and Dem Congressman (never heard of them and forgot names). Rep made comment about people going to jail for not having insurance. Dem just chuckled and said that he would go to jail in anybody's place if this happened! Julie made a point of saying they would hold onto that video. We need to get and hold also!

Great Wisconsin Event (And Setting the Record Straight, Again)
Great event last night in Wisconsin! It was an honor to meet great Americans who are working so hard to remind us of life's sanctity and value. I commend this fine state for its efforts to make our nation a more welcoming place for all children.
Let me set the record straight on the media's follow-up reports of the great event: Despite what CNN reported, decisions about not allowing cameras at the event were the prerogative of the sponsors of the event, and I, of course, respected their decision.
I am about to set out on my book tour, where media will no doubt join us at many spots. In the meantime, I ask our friends in the media once again: please quit making things up.

As a medical student, 35 years ago, I watched about 10 abortions, as part of my training.
I am not sure what my thoughts were prior to that but after that I became 100% opposed to the procedure.
I really do understand what this lady went through.

I went to a Catholic school for junior high, and they did not show us tapes of abortion, but they did explain in great detail exactly how the different "procedures"(executions) were done. Knowledge is power, and anyone honest person who knew exactly what at abortion was would be against it.
Also, I saw that lady on Huckabee tonight. I hope she reaches millions of people with her story. It really shows people that its never too late to start doing what is right.
Well, the house passed it with 220 votes with 1 rpub from Louisiana voting for it. What a travesty perpetrated by our elected representatives.
