Who Should Leave The Room?
Governor Palin has now done a series of interviews covering a wide range of topics, including her personal life and policy issues ranging from the war in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, India, Israel, North Korea, Health Care, the Economy and Energy. But, from reading and watching the media, you would come to the conclusion that all she was talking about was whether Levi Johnston would be joining her for Thanksgiving and whether she would run on a ticket with Glenn Beck.
While making those issues the main focus of her interviews, she is continuously criticized for responding to questions about Levi Johnston, the Katie Couric interview, and whether she would run on a ticket with Glenn Beck. She is advised to move away from those issues and talk substance. (That is exactly what she tried to do when Oprah asked her about it and her initial response was “must we”). Can you imagine the outrage of the MSM if she had not responded to those questions when asked? Asking Governor Palin how she would respond to a certain question should she run for the presidency, or whether she will choose a certain running mate, is ridiculous by default. How can she answer those questions without implying that she is or isn’t seeking higher office? The media, it would seem, is just waiting for her to insult someone so they can proclaim “Gotcha”.
I would be the first one to admit that, although on most issues the Governor has knocked it out of the park, if she plans to seek higher office she will need to familiarize herself better. But, for some reason she’s expected to have a better grip in the issues – as some supposedly GOP elder has proclaimed “her knowledge gaps are embarrassing” – and come up with better solutions on the issues than the president of the United States himself.
Governor Palin holds no elected office and receives no briefings or reports either on economic issues or national security issues, all the information she gets comes from the same place where everyday Americans get their news. Despite the limited sources she has to inform her decisions, she demonstrates a far greater understanding of these issues than the President with all the resources he has available to him. What she lacks in classified information available to the president is more than compensated for with her common sense conservatism. Common sense, of course, is a commodity totally absent from the current administration.
In comparison, on the economy Governor Palin calls for tax cuts and incentives for employers so they have a reason to grow their businesses and hire more people. President Obama’s solution of spending, spending, and more spending, will do nothing but stimulate higher future taxes, interest rates, and inflation. This is not an environment conducive to the expansion of business payrolls. Quite the opposite. On health care, Governor Palin advocates tort reform, allowing businesses and individuals to purchase insurance across state lines, and tax credits for employers. President Obama’s solution: having our health care controlled by the same people who run the post office. On Afghanistan, Governor Palin urges listening to the commanders on the ground. President Obama’s response: “I’ll get back to you on that”. On Iran, Governor Palin suggests talking to those who have the most influence on the Iranians, the Russians. President Obama? Well, he’s still looking for Ahmadinejad’s phone number.
All of the ideas that Governor Palin has been calling for are always echoed by all those “elite” Ivy League commentators. However, when it issues forth from their lips it’s considered brilliant, not so when Governor Palin says it. Who can forget the bizarre article Charles Krauthammer wrote in which he tells Governor Palin to “leave the room” for bringing up the concept of death panels before he spends the rest of his article explaining why the Obama plan contains…death panels?
While President Obama, even with a teleprompter, “ahs” and “ums” over his daily briefings, Governor Palin calls it like she sees it. The President is portrayed as being a genius for answering a question on how it feels to be president. Governor Palin? She simply doesn’t measure up because she answers questions directly without 18 different shades of gray in her answers. According to the elites, Obama’s nuanced non-answers are to be celebrated while Governor Palin’s direct, common sense answers on such topics as Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, India, Israel, North Korea, Health Care, the economy and energy, are a sign that she should leave the room.

LOL for real!! Every time I hear one of them say something so ridiculously hypocritical and inane I can't help but ROFLOL! And WISH I had a camera to capture the moment! FOLKS THIS is what IGNORANT RRRRRRRRRRREALLY looks like! And it's pouring in MASS out the cracks of the DONKEY Barn! Someone needs a BIG shovel!
At present the Big 3 and Obama are in the room staring at each other resolved to not even take a bathroom break for fear of losing ground.
Just like with that exerpt from Obama's book, someone ought to take an Obama off-teleprompter quote, and print it, attributing it to Palin, and watch everyone pile on. Then reveal who REALLY said that.
I think what Palin is saying could easily be coming out of the mouth of any of the other "sophisticated" conservatives, but because SHE says it, it's just not good enough.
I think that continually being underestimated, however, will be to her advantage.
Sheya: You are right about the interviews focusing on personal aspects rather than issues. The problem is, however, that so much of the book was focused on personal aspects and personalities rather than a development of philosophy and policy issues. The interviews seemed to be with interviewers who seem to emphasize personalities rather than politics.
Maybe she will be able to meet with harder hitting interviewers after the book has been completely launched. Some of her facebook ideas could be expanded on shows such as Meet the Press and Larry King.
Again interesting article in the Politico about the emerging Tea Party movement. I say that Palin's speech at the upcoming Tea Party Convention will be the most important speech she gives since the RNC convention speech she gave in 2008. I think this speech will really kick start the 2010 campaign and it will be interesting what the press gleans from what she says. We all know that they will want to consign both Palin and the Tea Party movement to the fringe of American politics, thus rendering both irrelevant to future campaigns. But the Tea Party movement really has an opportunity with good leadership, to groundswell into a force that upends the current political establishment and really shakes up politics in the way that Ross Perot failed to in his initial bid for the presidency in 1992. Its my hope the the contributors and editors of this blog really emphasize the importance of this address. It is my hope that Sarah does, what she has always done up to this point in her great political career: knock this speech out of the park and take the lead for this movement and really define where it must go from that point on.

To Mr. Krauthammer- I think the free market will dictate who leaves the room and who stays. As of right now Palin is halfway to selling a million books, and you are part of a failing newspaper industry. So don't get too comfy and for your convenience, pick a seat near the door.
ARGH and I am really getting TICKED off at the MEDIA for always tagging the RIGHT with the tea party movement and every other thing that's anti OBAMA!
I've never BEEN GOP and I never WILL. SPENT more years as a stupid DONKEY than anything ELSE! I am PRO tea party, PRO Sarah and ANTI OBAMA!!! STOP saying it's all coming from the right!! The Right wouldn't have all the GUTS they have NOW if the Indies weren't JUST as TICKED off and willing to WALK for it!! jmo. stupid msm. grr!
I have noticed in the interviews, that she does quickly answer the questions, except for the personal ones like Levi. Most politicians with this many interviews would also have given some Ums and Ahs, etc. They would also have given some answers of trying to say something without saying it. We would have had at least one Presser from their staff "clarifying" what they said.
I want to say something about Levi Johnston, as a matter of record. The man right now is scum. I'm not saying he can't redeem himself in the future, but right now he isn't looking too good. If I had done half of the dishonorable things he did, I would be ashamed to even go out in public. However, he does not even seem to care about his own integrity. So be it. I know he leaks false information to Alaskan bloggers in order smear the Governor by proxy. It's despicable. That's all have to say about that.
As for the Sarah Palin expounding on her own policies. she has done yeoman's work with these interviews. It is not an easy job to go on nation television and clearly and conisely explain what you believe, which is what Palin has done so far. He message of tax cuts, lower spending, and limited government is getting out to the American people unfiltered.
From what I have read in the book so far it seems like people have always underestimated Palin, and paid for it in about every instance.
This is all spin. Except for the Oprah interview, the interviews with Bawa, O'Reilly, Rush, Levin, Hannity, and Greta were substantial. Sure they dealt with some personal issues but what interviews don't? Sarah gave good, sound answers. Sure I was I disappointed with her answer to Hannity's question about if she would resign if she became POTUS but I think she did a better job with that question with Greta.
Of all the interviews Rush secured the conservative base for her. When Sarah called global warming 'snake-oil science' and then told Rush she favored a crackdown on illegal immigration she gained a huge amount of support. Why do think that Rasmussen now has her F with Republicans at 80%. You can make fun of Rush all you want and call him just an 'entertainer' but I will tell you this: any Republican that attacks Rush is going to pay a steep price unless they apologize. Nobody f*cks with Rush.
And as I have said on several occasions Sarah made huge strides with the Walters' interview with women voters (security/soccer moms).
You folks that saw only 'fluff' must have been watching different interviews than I watched.
sarah should reach out to Krauthammer have a come to jesus meeting or something
Also, Krauthammer would do well in a vampire movie.
Techno....Are you saying that they have their DEPENDS on. OPPS!
sarah 2012
Techno I think you are spot on about Rush. It's so weird the people I now feel fine being an ALLY alongside - Rush, Levin, Hannity, COULTER even!! I'm seeing another side to them that is NOT AT ALL like we were told from the left (well they were pretty right about Hannity) for years and years! At least I was - same thing over and over about how awful these guys and gals were to all things NORMAL and COMPASSIONATE. Yep. If they cultivate us with a bit of regard - they may keep us.
Jesse: Ad Hominems for Levi detract from the discussion of substance for Ms. Palin. She wisely avoided discussing him in the book. I think this should be considered an old subject
Abraham Lincoln also would have done well in a vampire movie.
Krauthammer made a fool of himself in implying that Palin had nothing useful to say and then parroting her position--a position he had not previously expressed.
She was much more direct than any other prospective candidate, yes she had a flub or two, but she has the right instincts, and the right attitude
roflol!!! you read just like KIMORA right then! I wonder what ever happened to her. She was a big Hillary supporter. I bet she'd like Sarah too. She's a big fan of GAL POWER!
anyway thanks for the giggle! - they ALL need a "come to Jesus moment"
Ad hominem? I'm not engaging Levi Johnston in debate. I was just voicing my opinion of the man, and I don't usually him bring him up. I don't have to attack his character to prove him wrong, the facts speak for themselves. He generally isn't worth my time, and he certainly isn't worthy of being included in Governor Palin's book. That's just what he wants-more attention. I for one am glad she did not give it to him.
It is ironic that the elite that think Governor Palin is an idiot are overcome with the vapors by someone who mentally locks up forming thoughts not pertaining to himself.
He would look great cast as a Nosferatu.
It's well over 700,000 by now.
I agree. I saw almost ALL interviews and there was lotsa issues talk. I think these last two weeks are an A- for Sarah and her team and family.
She is doing just right with the gradual transition into and out of the book campaign and a good transition to more talk of issues.
She will almost certainly write a second book for release by Thanksgiving next year on her vision on the issues much like Ron Paul's book. It will be a huge seller and move even more voters to believe that she could be POTUS.
She is slowly building her team of LOYAL and COMPETENT people. Yes, she needs the watchdogs for the goofy Canadians but that will come in time.
By the end of the second book tour in early 2011, Sarah and her movement of millions of ordinary barbarians will march and crest the last hill and look at the valley before them of Rome.
Axes and swords and spears will tap against shields as the crescendo builds: "CUUUUUDDA! CUUUUUDA! CUUUUUDA!
Down in the valley, David Frum and Brooks will spit out their morning coffee, crap their Dependsless pants, Peggy Noonan will be at church praying, and Olby will mumble again "What do we do now?"
Her army will then march and take the city without a struggle and the average people will rise up and join her.
LD,
Depending on your state, we may ask you to register GOP so you can vote for Sarah in the primary for your state.
Is your state an open or closed primary?
I don't think she can lead it, but in her speech she must emphasize that the TPM is in a position to turn back the leviathan of government by supporting good candidates for the 2010 elections.
Sarah cannot lead this movement and run for POTUS.
She would be far more effective as POTUS as opposed to trying to herd cats in the TPM which is its best when it pushes strong local and state candidates.
heheheh (here that laugh?) there's a little devil in that laugh! ;-)
heh heh heh, hear that laugh? There's a little devil in that laugh. good point Ellen! Keep saying it to remind us!
I agree. Last week when O'Reilly was interviewing Sarah on Iran, after she stated her position, his questioning went on asking her for specifics. Immediately I thought, how can she give specifics . . . unlike Obama, she doesn't have access to all his sources and resources he has! Later, either that evening or the next day, McCain was being asked a similar question and he said about the same thing Sarah had said. The interviewer didn't go after him asking for specifics. They basically accepted his pat answer and moved on.
Only Obama for now.
Sarah should write a FB post about the latest version of the Senate Obamacare and link to Krauthammer's recent column that rips it to shreds, and emphasize alternatives that she and Chuck have both mentioned in the past.
It is her way of acknowledging CK's opinion on the matter, and she can creak the door open a little bit to his room.
In the end, CK will come on board because he knows that a second term of O will be devastating to the country.
That is exactly what your were doing -- attacking his character. Why don't you give the facts in argument rather than the vague remarks that are derogatory. He is using the attention to make money. There is nothing wrong with that. People do it all the time.
I would agree with the A - IF I had not realized the added bonuses called CLEVER and COURAGE that she possess (the more I see and listen the more she impresses me)
And the rest of us who believe in America (the beautiful)!
The "I hate this country" people will only hate her more. Which frosts my toes but like my bumper sticker says - Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History!! bbl LOVE u guys!
oh PS to the America haters - too LATE you failed!! Now if you really hate this country please feel free to LEAVE (exit stage left) don't let the door hit you on the way out!
think
Whirled PEAS!!!
By all means, I think everyone should get in the room.
Governor Palin
President Obama
The lamestream media
The RINO elite
The elite pundits
Congress
All of ya, get into a room, and whoever is the last one standing, will leave the room.
And we'll throw in a box of Depends into the room too. Save you all the embarrassment.
Krauthammer would be the old tired veteran vampire slayer who the young up and comer needs to consult to get more info. to hunt and kill the FIRST vampire. Sort of like Christopher Plumber, but older.
:)
don't worry I live in a pretty red county - she'll take it for sure!
I am sure. (I'm in Fla, I believe it's open)
Rush is the best because he does not have guests and unlike some right-wing talk show hosts, he doesn't indulge in fluff. He is hardcore and unapologetic. The reason he has 22m listeners is that he never indulges in BS; he never cheats the audience. He has often been candid is that the main goal of his program is to gain the largest audience possible but then he always issues the caveat that he doesn't say anything that he truly does not believe. i would put him in the top 10 greatest Americans of the last 25 years.
By the way if you haven't heard Rush's CPAC speech on Feb. 28/09 you've got to listen to it. It's on You Tube.
So what if I am attacking his character? It's not a logical fallacy to attack a person's character. It would only be so if I were to say something to the effect that one should not listen to Levi Johnston because he is immoral. That's an ad hominem, where you attack the person instead of his argument. However, I am not engaging in a debate with Levi Johnston, as he has no argument, simply baseless accusations. I am commenting on the things he has done and said. Do you disagree with me? If so, then say it. Why bother with this quasi-defense of this man?
And no, not all people use infamy to make money. Some retain their honor and dignity.
http://www.conservatives4palin.com/2009/09/levi-liar.html
There are facts you asked for.
Didn't she say that FDR went on live TV and made speech to the nation in 1929? Oh wait, that was Biden.
explain to me (please) his drug problem and why he used to be so hateful to Hillary and Chelsea?
those were the biggest meme's or partial propaganda being chatted about from the left - usually with some link to a video or quote
did he or did he not try to sneak drugs in to the US and get caught and his doctor caved? I forget - that's not a huge issue with me except for the possible hypocritical nature of ever trusting someone that would do the same things he's professing against - is he an uber anti drug person? that would make it worse. the same with uber anti anything people - you will believe them if they are consistent right? fill me in - I'm open to other opinions these days! :-)
Most people I know are not involved in politics. However, they love gossips. They better listen to the juicy stories about celebrity’s personal life, than political news.
<span> </span>It is not the election year. <span> </span>People are busy with their own lives and daily problems.
<span> </span>Let’s take one step at the time.
ok that group is fine as long as you include all of US TOO because we are as MUCH media these days as the likes of MSNBO!! Besides if Sarah has US protecting her back she is SURE to succeed!! (or the wind beneath her wings?)
Obviously we have a lot of disagreement on definitions. This precludes rational discourse. Have a good day.
sandrainoregon,
now I'm going - Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Regarding the focus of the book -- it is an autobiography, designed to tell people who Sarah Palin is and show through examples how she dealt with issues as an office-holder. This is important background for anyone who may be considering her as a candidate for future political office. IMO this focus is exactly what is needed in this stage of Sarah's career. The last chapter of the book focuses on basic foundational principals that are the basis for any policy decisions. For me, that is exactly what I want to know about any potential candidate -- who they are, how they have governed in the past, and what principals they use to base their decisions upon. There is plenty of time to develop specific policy positions for future issues.
He claims to know so much of how bad of a mother Sarah is, well let me give you a couple of facts. His mother is in jail as a drug dealer. 3 yeras then 3 years probation. SO much for a role model as a mother. He is a High School Drop Out.
There those are facts. Oh and don't be surprised when he goes to court he is silenced and rendered useless forever to the liberals. In child cases Judges all the time make it an order not to talk bad about the other parent and if it is in the best interest of the child it can go to the next level. Those are facts. Now get the liberals to do the same with Sarah.
Oh outside of Oprah anybody that saw the interviews know Greta ask questions that Obama is not asks or he avoids. Oh also don't forget Sarah is not running.
As for as policy in the book I thought it was more philsophy of public service since time as City Council. THis is as important if not more than policy. With all the talk of Obama it took him over 10 months to figure out one for Afghanistan. Not impressive and the only thing you could say was well that is his leadership philosophy to move extremly slow and methodical.
Oh as for as Levi don't blame Sarah, how many times is he mentioned in the book?
Have we been watching the same interviews? She has done interviews with several different networks, including FOX, which Obama has only appeared on once since getting elected? And these interviews included hard-hitting policy questions most of the time, although with some personal stuff intertwined. Why the double standard?
There is no disagreement to be had. I am simply stating the textbook definition. If you don't like it, tough luck.
Have a good weekend.
Levi Johnston is a bigger fool than I thought if he sues for custody. The odds are already stacked against him, and even then he has serious problem, that being he has made cetain statements concerning Sarah Palin where Bristol Palin was the primary witness. When it comes time in court, these accusations will be discussed and Bristol Palin will be called to testify as to their truthfulness. Such an occurence is not helpful to the accuser. Once Levi Johnston is made out to be a liar in open court, he is finished.
Jim Robinson, founder of Free Republic, has posted this:
<span>Why tea party patriots should support Sarah Palin should she decide to run</span>
<span>11/28/2009 | Jim Robinson
</span>
<span>Posted on <span>Saturday, November 28, 2009 2:28:57 PM</span> by </span><span>Jim Robinson</span>
She's a God, Country, Family, small government, no nonsense traditional Christian conservative. She's an outsider not corrupted by business as usual Washington politics. They hate her. She's pro defense. An army mom. She's pro-gun. Hunts, fishes and enjoys the great outdoors. She eats corrupt office holders and wasteful spenders for lunch. She drills for oil. She's a fighter. A winner!
She's the exact opposite to Obama in all respects. She's an American patriot!
In short, she's exactly what we the grassroots tea party patriots are looking for.
It's interesting how anyone without an agenda, who actually watched/listened to the interviews could say that no substantive questions were asked. NOTHING wasn't asked! I think that, even on this site, some people give too much credit to Punditry and what they'll say or think. They're going to stick to portraying her as a trinket forever. Fortunately they're pretty much washed up.
If there was one flaw with the interviews as a whole, it was that the questions were coming fast and furious from every direction, and Sarah answered them all with rapid fire responses (something that would literally put Obama in intensive care). The fault wasn't hers , it was the interviewers. I saw quite a few answers that she wanted to expand upon and the interviewer cut her short so he/she could tick off the next on their list.
I saw an extremely agile mind answering fearlessly and absolutely honestly on a wide range of issues--shifting her style to match the interviewer's. Personally I liked O'Reilly's and Levine's the best. She seemed amused as hell and seems comfortable with "tough guys". She had Levine calling her "The great Sarah Palin" afterwards and BOR looked like he wanted to take her out ice skating or something--and I liked Miller's for reminding me that she's got a perfect theme song when he played 'Sara Smile'! How did I forget about that song!
I agree that there are more books coming. GR is a truly fine memoir and I think she's just confirmed for herself that she's an <span>excellent</span> writer--and that she LIKES it. Criticisms of her are sounding increasingly hollow and sometimes bizzare.
I'm not a sychophant, but I saw nothing but A+ all around.
sometimes I do wonder if the critics have been watching the interviews and have actually read the book. after the O interview most of the interviews have dealt with issues. there really has not even been that much on the 2008 campaign. sure at some point she will have to develop more specific positions on issues but right now she is laying out her philosophy and certainly she is being as specific as anyone else. also i dont think anyone who has really the book could have a question on why she resigned from office. you might disagree with the reasoning but the reasons are clearly set out in the book- and by the way she was right resigning was the best thing for Alaska, her family and for freeing her up to better affect national politics.
One facet of the book and Governor Palin's interviews that has been overlooked is the simplicity. Hear me out. Too often simplicity is seen as a negative term, when it isn't. True, the book didn't go into extreme detail about specific policies, but when your goal is decreasing the size of government, the method will be decreasing regulation ( i.e. less policy, rather than more). Cutting taxes, coupled with decreased spending, is simple. It's increased taxes with more government programs (i.e. more policy) that is complex. Being decisive and listening to those you have hired on national security issues is more simple than listening more to your voting blocs than your commanders when making decisions on war. Allowing drilling in America and utilizing an all-of-the-above approach requires less regulation than creating phantom green jobs and taxing carbon emissions. Governor Palin may not be about extreme specifics or wonky policies because if you trust the American people to prioritize their money for themselves, then less policies will need to be implemented. It's the beauty of simplicity. As much as people compare Governor Palin to Ronald Reagan, she is also quite like Calvin Coolidge as well.
An additional thing that I found interesting in the book is that she made it a point to not micromanage and recognized she didn't have all of the answers, but trusted those whom she appointed (see page 126 of the book). Unlike our President, Governor Palin isn't about micromanagement, nor does she think she has all of the answers. This is something she called the President out on in one of the interviews ( I think with Greta).
Her political perspective and her governing style are both assets that our current president is clearly lacking.
ladydawnelle
Amen to that... your sounding Texas, "Bull Crap" style like Sarah... you got It goin'!...Rock On!
First Chelsea: Rush' own mother chewed him out for that.
Mrs. Clinton: he does call her that consistently but she is fair game while Chelsea is not.
Drug problem: I admit I wasn't listening to Rush then but as I understand it he confessed to his audience what his problem was, took up time off, and went into rehab. He never glorified his drug use and did not expect any sympathy. In a way I think it made Rush a little more human. The comedians who attack him for his drug use do so because they are not man enough to take him on regarding his political convictions.
Since his CPAC speech Rush has been on fire; his audience has expanded to at least 22m, some say even more on a casual basis. He has focused on Obama and has been relentless. And Rush has lost a lot weight due probably to wanting to please his new girl friend. I like Rush because he doesn't sugarcoat politics and doesn't resort to sentimentality.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2395989/posts
I don't see Kraut coming around. Yesterday on the Fox All-Stars, he made fun of the WH party crashers by saying there was probably a young Secret Service guy at one of the checkpoints, and the woman cried and said I've driven 100 miles, boo hoo, so the young guy let her in. So he's saying she basically used her womanly wiles to sucker the guy into letting her in.
The guy is a sexist pig. Sorry. Just had to let that out.
Back to your regularly scheduled programming ...
Jim Robinson owner of Free Republic basically endorsing Sarah today after her meeting with Billy Graham.
Sarah must lead a charmed life. She is already at 80% F among conservatives (PPP). Can she possibly get to 85%?
I'm in Florida and it is a closed primary. Florida was red in the last election except for Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and I think another county.
On another note, I went on a couple of anti-Palin websites and the other things that they could talk about was her looks, whether she is on meth, the plastic surgeries she has allegedly gotten, her family, her clothes, etc. They cannot mention anything of substance they can criticize her about so they attack her personal life. Goes to show that they are running scared. The latest is that she quit the 5K and that she is a quitter that never finishes anything.
Watch FL, especially around Dade-Miami, they are Blue countries and densely populated.
Sarah 2012!
TSM
WOW!... do I agree with you... Sarah answers from her blessed heart!... It's only when you have <span>NO</span> heart you give canned answers and talk a thousand words and say absolutely nothing.
Sarah makes It Real.. we've head this over and over and over again... and I could sit hear and repeat It till It circles the earth a thousand times... <span>It is that Important!</span> .... She connects her Faith, with her Family, with her Country,... inseparable they are, and God Bless her for It.
In doing so what I've noticed about her answers is her delivery varies from one time to the next... inflection and emphases change depending on her feelings that day but the same style and substance prevails... I at least, come away thinking even though I may have heard It before it's still got the REAL factor!
Sapwolf
Thanks a million
You do have a way with words... Ironically, that's exactly my sentiments... saves my finger tips from all that hunting and pecking.
I thought the interview with Greta was one of the best
I think he was being polite because Palin obviously misheard the question and started talking about Iraq. He was a gentleman.
I think in the Greta interview, she said the Obama should be humble enough to say he doesn't have all the answers and to rely on his generals.
ok then - I think it sounds like a reasonable way to respond to such a problem and if that is the worst he's done than he's walking a pretty straight line! besides I am woefully tired of those that claim to be perfect of course by their constant condemnation of anymore else - the sanctimony of the left was always a claw in my side (or a bite of my lip) and I also believe it's possible that Rush can grow as well. Especially after all that's gone down the last year. We all have new perspectives on many things right?
I saw that and the words fell OUT of my mouth "P I G"
nope don't like him
Greta got the BEST interview of them all. To me Sarah looked calm, relaxed and very much in her element!
Palin writes (page 368) about being "Emanualized", and she links Kim Elton and Pete Rouse to Obama. She writes "One does have to wonder, though, what Kim Elton did to earn his new job in Washington". Essentially she is saying, "if you bring a bogus ethics complaint your reward is a job in the Obama Administration". And The lamestream media cover up this important fact.
And the poop award will be presented to Barack Hussein Obama, mmm.
You know, Recovering Dem, that is an excellent idea. Would be great to attribute an Obama quote to Palin and see the reaction; and the reverse...attribute a Palin quote to Obama.
I think she'll get up to 85 or even 90 percent among conservatives. 2010 will be a big year for Gov. Palin. I have a feeling she is going to be doing a lot of traveling in the lower 48 promoting her new PAC, doing fundraising events, and paid speeches, as well as a lot of campaigning during the various primaries and the general election.
I was just about to say the same thing. This is not a right wing movement; it is a populist movement and that means right, left, moderate. I am not a righ/conservative; more libertarian, and I attended our first teaparty rally and support Palin.
I don't think a lot of them do bother to listen to the interviews, or read her op/eds either those on Facebook or those which have appeared in the WSJ and WaPo. The other day Karl Rove was on Greta, and he seemed to think that all Gov. Palin's done since the election was write her book, and talk about Levi. It would seem like if they were going to be on TV offering someone advice they'd at least take a good look at what she's been doing these last several months.
You don't have to like him, but he will not vote for Obama over Palin in a general election in 2012. Trust me on that.
Palin would be wise to constantly remind Conservatives that they live in a highly toxic media environment for conservatism. Limbaugh has been trying to tell the Republican Party for 20 years that the Democrats have become operationally radicalized and the news media is covering for them. The D.C. Republicans won't listen, because if they did, they would have to read and apply Rules for Radicals on their own, and there are too many people in Washington with a personal stake in the status quo.
This is one of the reasons Palin is bypassing the GOP apparatus; it is irretrevably defeatist. She is going right to the conservative rank and file, because they want to win and are willing to put Obama's teeth on the sidewalk to do it. And they don't care if the news media likes them or not.
That's why Palin has become such a beloved figure among rank and file conservatives. They know she doesn't care either: she just wants to win one for the Gipper.

To specify, I meant to say that they know that she doesn't care what the media thinks of her.
Yes, the facebook and op/ed's should be included in interviews after the book promotion is over.
And, I would add that the MSM (or LSM) is noticing her followers at her events. They see it coming, even if they do not understand it. There is a reason why I asked Sarah to sign my copy of "Rules for Radicals". We are gonna take it to them and take the House back in 2010 and get anywhere from 4-7 Senate seats back.
It was confirmed. I don't think it was bogus. Wasn't it the one about Troopergate?
I like about 90% of what he says. But he is completely blind about Palin. And the only thing I can come up with is misogyny - and when he makes comments like the above, it only reinforces my speculation.
It means, I think, the not stupid people movement.
Just like a test in high school, if ya have to think about the answer, ya don't know the material.
The true elite are those who have lifted the veil from their eyes, see things as they are, and behave accordingly.
Most people I know are not involved in politics, but love not being broke.
Those who dwell in the bubble are oblivious to that which is outside the bubble. They have no awareness of that which occurs outside the bubble. All they think is that which they can put together from that which they've seen and heard inside the bubble. Bubblepeople.
Another of my favorite quotes, from H.W. Longfellow; "In style, in character, and in manner, in all things the supreme excellence is simplicity."
No leader required. It started with a realization. As long as we maintain awareness of that realized, it will thrive.
Usually courts avoid he said she said discussions. Waste of time. HE has a good chance of joint custody but if the Judge does what I want and deny him from criticizing the Palin family publically and vice versa for Bristol Levi fades VERY QUICKLY into the sunset. If he cant criticize Sarah who wants to talk to the twerp? National Enquier wouldn't give him the time of day.
Positive-ly Palin
??? wtf are you talking about ?
sandra, you need to go away. you're not adding to the discussion. this is a troll-free zone.
I agree.
Sarah tries very hard to keep things simple, she feels that connects with most people, and she is probably right, despite driving pundits crazy.
I don't think it will change, and I think it works very well. But she can improve putting things succintly and simply, and needs to mix 'n match words/phrases rather then just repeating the same ones.
An example: she was onto something with the India-Pakistan relationship being critical in the war on terror. It was very insightful. But after raising it she "seemed" to decide it was too complex to make a good argument easily, and let it peter out to a certain extent.
If she said "If India and Pakistan can fight thier common enemies, the terrorists, together as allies, we would be on a winning strategy." it would be simple and to the point.
The follow-up would be: "Why would that make a difference?" Because "... terrorism in Pakistan has thrived in a climate of national insecurity".
I think that was really what she was thinking of saying, but couldn't get into smaller simpler points so let it pass.
She will improve over time, and I really do believe that approach will be effective (using different words and phrases at times to make it sound more nuanced).
Nooooo Sandra. It was Tasergate.
Bassman, yes, but not just ethics charges, but those doing the dirty work against Palin generally in Alaska. Take Levi ... essentially the same thing.
I agree that it woud be good for Gov. Palin to reach out to Krauthammer. He is sharp, and while I don't believe in "sucking up" there is certainly nothing wrong with a sit down with one another.
Krauthammer is like an art critic or food critic. It's his job to diss everybody. He has repeatedy commented on Gov Palin's charisma and "rock star" quality. He has said some critical things about Gov. Palin. On the other hand, as I recall, he doesn't even bother to mention any other potential republican presidential candidates.
I also disagree that Kraut is a sexist. I was impressed when he got that journalism award last year, he repeatedly talked about his wife and how she was the one behind his success. It's hard to pin the mysoginist label on someone who is that respectful of his spouse.
I'm talking about the OReilly interview. He asked her about the nuclear threat from Iran, and SP answered about the war in Iraq. I didn't see the interview with McCain.
I agree she should, without compromising.
I'm sure she will reach out to some of the pundits and republicans, in general over time. Krauthammer would be a great convert.
But we need to be realistic. Politics is politics, and some are already aligned to certain ideas/policies or people/factions and don't like Sarah for that reason. Its a cutthroat world.
Libertarian/Constitutionalist here! I have voted Republican twice in my life in Presidential elections, for Reagan's second term and Palin/McCain. All the other elections the last 30+ years my Presidential votes have been "wasted" on Libertarian candidates in attempt to help legitamise third parties by adding to their numbers..... In local/state elections I have voted for Libertarian, Democrat, Independant, Republican, Alaska Independence Party and many other 'fringe' candidates. I vote for the PERSON and their expressed agenda/back history, NOT their party!
"<span>Palin would be wise to constantly remind Conservatives that they live in a highly toxic media environment for conservatism."</span>
<span></span>
<span>I agree. Some say she shouldnt play the victim, "whining" about the press. Do it like Reagan, they say!</span>
<span></span>
<span>I say she is seen as both fighting and winning (65% independents feel she has been unfairly treated by the press), and as she has such a high profile could effectively neuter the press who again will be 100% behind Obama in 2012. </span>
<span></span>
<span>Republicans have always wondered how to go around the media, well, Palin is now doing that very effectively. And to her advantage, and to the advantage of the party.</span>
<span></span>
<span>Reagan did it one way. Palin is doing it another way. By the time the election comes around, if she is the nominee, she can reduce the attacks, and let surrogates do it (because she has shown the way).</span>
<span></span>

Jesse, attempting to engage 'Sandra-in-Liberalgon' in a discussion is usually pointless.....
Why don't you just go away until you have read the book and watched ALL the interviews in entirety TWICE! This 'devil's advocate' role you are attempting to play doesn't cut it when all your perspective is based solely on the media/left/hater mis-information.
By the way, it is YOU, SANDRA that I am addressing in the above post......
Before you misread it as you have posts in the past.....
I think it all comes down to Krauthammer being an elitist. He and all the others like him will come around naturally when the non-elitests are winning all the elections and raising all the money. The New York 23 election is a good example of this. If they do not change their minds they will become obsolete.
So, when and where do we all think she will announce her candidacy? Oh, what a day that will be !!
From the post: "... if she plans to seek higher office she will need to familiarize herself better."
This kind of sexist garbage doesn't belong here.
Regarding the douche Krauthhammer, he also believes all privately held firearms should be confiscated by the government. His essays are no more profound than the average C4Per.
