Charles Johnson Finally Has Come Full Circle

The blog, Little Green Footballs-- formerly right of center -- has called out Gov. Palin about being a climate denier.

Charles Johnson-- founder of LGF-- said that because she didn’t affirm that climate change was man-made, she was effectively denying climate change full stop. He doesn't have much room to talk.

And Weasel Zippers has the reason why.

Yes, I'm following their example and not providing him a link.

UPDATE:  This might be a bit too much 'Inside Baseball; Blog Edition' but LGF was one of the main blogs that helped to expose the scandal of Rathergate.  Charles helped out in founding PJ Media as well.  Now it's an echo chamber for CJ and anyone who dares to disagree with him will be banned from commenting.

Guy is a total loser.

MarkRNY,  December 14, 2009 4:46 PM

You know how insidious this term "Denier" is? It's meant to equate anyone who doesn't believe in this 1950's Comicbook crap with Holocaust Deniers. There's no low too low for these people (which is why they're so damned dangerous).

I've been throwing "Climategate Denier" back in their face. Then the fur starts flying.

I am still relatively new to the political blagosphere(I've only paid attention since this past spring), but am I supposed to know who Charles Johnson is?

OldVet,  December 14, 2009 5:00 PM

Thanks Dave C for pointing this out. I love the line fron Weasel Zippers "(sorry, no link for the jackass)".

I had never heard of Weasel Zippes before but now I have it bookmarked. Thanks again.

Thought I'd post here since this is the most current thread.

Nielsen came out with their year end review the other day listing the top 10 in various fields.  Anyway, Going Rogue was at #4 in Hardcover Non-Fiction for the year...and they only measured through Nov 29, or the 1st 2 weeks of release.

#1 was "Act Like a Lady" by Steve Harvey, #2 was "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark Levin and #3 was "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell.  But considering that Going Rogue has been #1 for the past two weeks that weren't counted and will likely remain at #1 through the rest of the month, while the others have already been out for quite some time, there's a very good chance it could climb even higher by the time the final year-end tallies are made.

Also, Nielsen doesn't count WalMart, Sams Club, BJs and a few other outlets, which do get counted in the final year end tally by Publisher's Weekly.

So, given continued strong performance and a strong Christmas week, Going Rogue may end up the #1 NF book for the year, which would be a huge feat.  I don't know if any political biography, or biography period, has ever been the #1 book for the year.  Even Bill Clinton's was only #3 for the year.  Obama was at #4 in 2006.

Also doing very well on the audio and large print markets.  3 straight weeks at #1 in audio, I believe.

OldVet,  December 14, 2009 5:05 PM

Does anyone know how many books Sarah has sold so far?

Dave C,  December 14, 2009 5:13 PM

Whitney,  Updated just for you.

LGF was one of the main blogs that helped to expose the scandal of Rathergate.  Charles helped out in founding PJ Media as well.  Now it's an echo chamber for CJ and anyone who dares to disagree with him will be banned from commenting.

loser.

Anonymous,  December 14, 2009 5:16 PM

So sad. I used to be a huge fan of Charles and LGF until he went all one note with creationism and other points left of center.
I have not approched his site since he banned me for a little joke about
his constant plugging of Kindle. Touchy, touchy Sir Charles.

Bill in Baltimore,  December 14, 2009 5:17 PM

O/T

People who read Sarah's book will get their friends (and hopefully enemies) to do the same.

I see a sustained presence at # 1 or thereabouts for a long time.
- like until the 2nd book comes out.

Whitney,  December 14, 2009 5:18 PM

Thank you! I appreciate it!

Andrew,  December 14, 2009 5:22 PM

Chuckie Johnson was a rabid liberal prior to 9/11.  After the tragedy, he switched sides and became a "Republican."

Over the years, he has slowly started reverting to his liberal tendencies, especially whenever someone brought up creationism (he's an atheist.)  The ascendancy of the Messiah was the hook for him to go back to full-fledged liberalism.

But liberals like to use him as a "moderate Republican" along with Andrew "I can see Palin's uterus from my house" Sullivan.  And they're not.

PatrickinOH,  December 14, 2009 5:24 PM

I heard Laura Ingraham say last Friday that Al Gore had sold 40,000 books and Sarah Palin had sold 2 million books so far

OldVet,  December 14, 2009 5:26 PM

Thanks <span>PatrickinOH</span><span></span>!

RINO-Hunter,  December 14, 2009 5:33 PM

He's a nobody who used to be a somebody.

He has a blog called Little Green Footballs.

If you'll recall, there was a scandal in 2004 involving Dan Rather basing a story about Bush's conduct in the Texas ANG on fake documents.  An Atlanta-based lawyer who posts on FreeRepublic under the screen name Buckhead called the authenticity of the documents into question.  The font in the doc was kerned (this involves the spacing of the letters), and there weren't any typewriters that could do that in the year the doc was supposedly published.

Charles Johnson found out about it and made a .gif animation with alternating images of the original doc (supposedly typed on a '70s vintage IBM Selectric) and one produced with MS Word with everything set to default values, and they matched exactly.

That's Charles' claim to fame, although Buckhead first noticed the problem did all the real work.  It led to appearances on Dennis Prager's show and other media.

Charles also worked closely with Pam Gellar of Atlas Shrugs and Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch for quite some time, until he finally decided that all religious people are potential suicide bombers.  That's when the decline started.  He publicly called Gellar and Spencer racists and fascists and completely disassociated himself from them.  He banned anybody on the site who disagreed with anything he said, and even went so far as to ban people who commented on any blogs he disliked, including HotAir, Atlas Shrugs, and AoS.

His worst moment was when he had his moderator/bootlicking sycophant Kilgore Trout go to a late-night thread on HotAir and spam it with racist comments.  The comments didn't get removed immediately (probably because it was 2:00 AM and Ed and Allahpundit were sleeping), and he used this as evidence that HotAir was a "hate site"- even though his own guy posted the comments there on his orders.

BetseyRoss,  December 14, 2009 5:36 PM

I was a fan for a while when LGF deftly outed Dan Rather and Mary Mapes.  I went to the site quite often before the election in 2004.  I sort of forgot about it until last year.  What insanity was going on there!  It was like watching Michael Jackson loosing his mind.  Sad.  Other blogs reported that some of the commenters were being banned for not agreeing with Charles.  I went back(like watching an accident) and was horrified to see how far the commenters there had descended.  Most of it was nonsense and difficult to follow.  I erased LGF from my book marks and haven't looked back.
There is nothing moderate about Charles of LGF.  He's banned so many that he is talking to himself these days.  You know what they say about Liberalism, it is a mental disease.

At Amazon, Rogue audio has been #1 every time I check, since pre-order.

The Large Print edition has also always been #1.
The regular edition fell to #2 yesterday, and is their today.

This is among all books.

It might be top 2 or 3 for all books, by year end.

But that is without Walmart Sams Costco Newsmax etc.

Rogue is Going fast.

narciso,  December 14, 2009 5:39 PM

BTw, that Petrilli character another crunchy con like Dreher, said in today's Journal Op Ed, that of course, "Sarah's movement is anti-intellectual"

sandrainoregon,  December 14, 2009 5:40 PM

It is a point of view, not a mental disease.

RINO-Hunter,  December 14, 2009 5:41 PM

This is O/T, but everybody go check out Ace's Twitter.  He's been riffing on ObaMao's B+ comment all afternoon.  It's funnier than hell.

A,  December 14, 2009 5:41 PM

Some aren't worthy of a response.

C.J. is one such.

Will be updated tomorrow.

And B&N did not match the price war price.

A,  December 14, 2009 5:49 PM

Self diagnosis may lack objectivity.

PatrickinOH,  December 14, 2009 5:49 PM

I think that is absolutely false, Sarah is obviously very intelligent.  I would say Sarah's movement is anti-faux intellectual, people like Brooks and Frum come to mind

PatrickinOH,  December 14, 2009 5:51 PM

That reminded me RINO, do you remember when somebody hijacked the MSNBC twitter feed, I can't say any of the tweets here, but the results were absolutely hi-larious

RINO-Hunter,  December 14, 2009 5:54 PM

Unfortunately I missed that.

Anonymous,  December 14, 2009 5:57 PM

I was a die hard LGF fan about a year ago. Then the site got strange, every day Darwinism stuff (okay man - you made a point give it up), then strange posts. I gave it up and took it off my menus link. Too bad. It had so much potential. Glad you didn't link. Thanx for the post.

PatrickinOH,  December 14, 2009 5:57 PM

I think that one of the tamer tweets was UPDATE: Chris Matthews is a dumbass

RINO-Hunter,  December 14, 2009 5:59 PM

LOL!  I wish I had seen it.  I wonder if anybody copied them (I'm assuming MSLSD had them scrubbed).

Dave C,  December 14, 2009 6:00 PM

Dreher is like Frum..   you are anti-intellectual if you disagree with him.

riley4palin,  December 14, 2009 6:01 PM

Well, this guarantees that Barack Obama will once again grace the cover of Time magazine this week.

As a matter of fact, with Governor Palin's book sales numbers surpassing all other political figures this year, it only means one thing:

Barack Obama will be Time Magazine's Person of the Year (for the second year in a row).

PatrickinOH,  December 14, 2009 6:02 PM

OK I got a link to the story oh it wasn't the real MSNBC twitter feed it was a fake one but a lot of people thought it was the real one lol: http://www.patrolmag.com/scanner/1852/the-hilarious-hijacking-of-msnbc-s-twitter

narciso,  December 14, 2009 6:05 PM

Look I shop at Whole Foods on occasion, mostly for the soup, (cue the Seinfeld sketch) but that has little to do with how I live my life, or my political orientation. I'm very dissapointed with CJ
becausehe has allowed LGF to  become a counterpart to Kos and Huff Po (including feeding the adultery rumors last August)

PatrickinOH,  December 14, 2009 6:06 PM

I don't know if any of you here watch South Park, but there was one episode where aliens kidnapped that John Edward guy (not the former pres candidate) for the biggest douche in the universe contest, I would bet that Frum would win that award easily

PatrickinOH,  December 14, 2009 6:07 PM

strong language warning

PatrickinOH,  December 14, 2009 6:11 PM

hes the guy who used to have that show Crossing Over with John Edward I never watched it, we Catholics are uncomfortable with people who claim to talk to the dead

RINO-Hunter,  December 14, 2009 6:12 PM

Thanks!

RINO-Hunter,  December 14, 2009 6:15 PM

ROFL!!!  That's hilarious!

Anonymous,  December 14, 2009 6:16 PM

Many of us loved LGF after 9/11. At the same time, I was always aware that Charles was not a conservative but had socially liberal tendencies. At the time of the Terry Schiavo case, for instance, I recall that he said he wanted to stay away from social issues; I thought that was a good idea. The one thing we all agreed on a couple of years ago was the nature of the terrorist enemy, and we owe much to the LGF site for serving as a forum. That said, I noticed in the last couple of years that he kept talking about Creationism. I am not a Creationist, but generally the Creationists don't bother me, and I thought Charles should have stuck to the terrorism issue, which many liberals and conservatives can agree on. Too bad. He does really seem to have gone loony liberal. I noticed recently that he referred to Palin and Bachman as "morons."

sandrainoregon,  December 14, 2009 6:17 PM

Check DSM.  Points of view are by definition not objective.

Kjanlady,  December 14, 2009 6:39 PM

Does he still have a blog site since being banned from Power Line?.....not that I've looked for him anywhere.

RINO-Hunter,  December 14, 2009 6:41 PM

One more thing:  I will refer to Teh One as "B+rack Ob+Mao" from now on.

That is all.

cookboy,  December 14, 2009 6:46 PM

Like Bill said.

lmg,  December 14, 2009 6:49 PM

Which in turn will cause his poll numbers to drop further. People are getting sick and tired of seeing him.

cookboy,  December 14, 2009 6:50 PM

Mental disease affecting ones point of view.

lmg,  December 14, 2009 7:03 PM

If by "anti-intellectual" he implies that Sarah and her supporters deny the value of intellectual work, or devalue intelligence, he is wrong. If by "intellectual" he means someone who professionally opines, and habitually sniffs the behinds of the "right" people, but doesn't actually do anything useful in the world, then I suppose it's fair to say Sarah and her suporters do not have high esteem for such people, having seen the value of their "work".

Brian72,  December 14, 2009 7:42 PM

If you haven't seen it before, there is a really funny "detective mystery", Dial 'M' for Maternity, parody written by the totally awesome Iowahawk, starring our favorite gynocologist blogger. It is freakin hilarious and brilliant, as most of Iowahawk is. This is the same blogger who brought us T. Coddington Van Vorhees VII (the original, and the second), and The Idiossey, and a super brilliant parody "guest" written as Hugh Hewitt from back in the primaries of 2008.

I love this guy, he puts me in stitches every time.

Brian72,  December 14, 2009 7:56 PM

I got my Limbaugh Letter today! The cover is cool. Rush and Sarah are depicted in a painting sitting across from each other in nice leather chairs in front of a brick fireplace with Christmas decorations and a bull moose head on a plaque. The coffee table in front of them has two EIB coffee cups on it, and a copy of Going Rogue.

I'm going to be reading this tonight in the MNF commercials. I need to figure out how to share this with C4P. E-mail? Straight into a thread? Color scan? Word, notepad? ect.

Brian72,  December 14, 2009 8:00 PM

I found another one in Iowahawk's archives. He is truly the master.

America Speaks Out: "Juno" in Juneau?

Brian72,  December 14, 2009 8:02 PM

I like the looks of that map, except for my state being in the Yuckabee column, albeit lightly so. I may have some work to do down here in the Volunteer State, if this map is accurate.

Brian72,  December 14, 2009 8:03 PM

Person of the Millenium:

Barack H. Obama

lmg,  December 14, 2009 8:37 PM

Perhaps just summarize, so as not to violate Fair Use rules.

katiejane,  December 15, 2009 6:57 PM

I read somewhere that CJ was actually a liberal prior to 9/11.  Apparently the WTC attack converted him to a more conservative mindset and now it appears that his memory of that is failing and he's just returning to his previous thinking.  I stopped reading there before his latest mind freak and have no interest in watching the idiot disintegrate.  He's in the same category as Andrew Sullivan - a raving lunatic.
